Abstract
Cumulative evidence has showed the deficits of inhibitory control in patients with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), which is considered as an endophenotype of ADHD. Genetic study of inhibitory control could advance gene discovery and further facilitate the understanding of ADHD genetic basis, but the studies were limited in both the general population and ADHD patients. To reveal genetic risk variants of inhibitory control and its potential genetic relationship with ADHD, we conducted genome-wide association studies (GWAS) on inhibitory control using three datasets, which included 783 and 957 ADHD patients and 1350 healthy children. Subsequently, we employed polygenic risk scores (PRS) to explore the association of inhibitory control with ADHD and related psychiatric disorders. Firstly, we identified three significant loci for inhibitory control in the healthy dataset, two loci in the case dataset, and one locus in the meta-analysis of three datasets. Besides, we found more risk genes and variants by applying transcriptome-wide association study (TWAS) and conditional FDR method. Then, we constructed a network by connecting the genes identified in our study, leading to the identification of several vital genes. Lastly, we identified a potential relationship between inhibitory control and ADHD and autism by PRS analysis and found the direct and mediated contribution of the identified genetic loci on ADHD symptoms by mediation analysis. In conclusion, we revealed some genetic risk variants associated with inhibitory control and elucidated the benefit of inhibitory control as an endophenotype, providing valuable insights into the mechanisms underlying ADHD.

Abstract
A series of influential articles suggests that obesity may spread between couples, siblings, and close friends via an obesity contagion phenomenon. Classmates, as important structural equivalents in one's social network, may experience obesity contagion. However, this has rarely been examined. Anthropometric measurements, questionnaire surveys, and geographic information were collected from 3670 children from 26 schools in Northeast China. We found that classmates were positively related in terms of body mass index (BMI), body fat, physical activity, and intake of vegetables, fruits, fast food, snacks, and sugar-sweetened beverages. One standard deviation (SD) increase in classmates' mean BMI and percentage body fat was associated with 0.19 SD higher individual BMI (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.00, 0.39) and 0.31 SD higher percentage body fat (95% CI: 0.13, 0.48). Coefficients ranged from 0.48 to 0.76 in models for physical activity, and the dietary intake of vegetables, fruit, fast food, snacks, and sugar-sweetened beverages. Children's BMI and body fat were more strongly associated with the maximum and minimum body fat levels of their same-sex classmates than with those of their general classmates. Their dietary intake and physical activity were more strongly associated with the mean/median levels of their general classmates than with those of their same-sex classmates. This study suggests that children's BMI, body fat, physical activity, and dietary intake may be related to those of their classmates. Modeling healthy behaviors in the classroom may help children develop habits that support achieving and maintaining a healthy weight. Future interventions should consider the inclusion of classmates as a social network strategy for obesity prevention.

Abstract
Ocean acidification (OA) driven by elevated carbon dioxide (CO2) levels is expected to disturb marine ecological processes, including the formation and control of harmful algal blooms (HABs). In this study, the effects of rising CO2 on the allelopathic effects of macroalgae Ulva pertusa to a toxic dinoflagellate Karenia mikimotoi were investigated. It was found that high level of CO2 (1000 ppmv) promoted the competitive growth of K. mikimotoi compared to the group of present ambient CO2 level (420ppmv), with the number of algal cell increased from 32.2 × 104 cells/mL to 36.75 × 104 cells/mL after 96 h mono-culture. Additionally, rising CO2 level weakened allelopathic effects of U. pertusa on K. mikimotoi, as demonstrated by the decreased inhibition rate (50.6 % under the original condition VS 34.3 % under the acidified condition after 96 h co-culture) and the decreased reactive oxygen species (ROS) level, malondialdehyde (MDA) content, antioxidant enzymes activity (superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), glutathione peroxidase (GPX), glutathione reductase (GR) and catalase (CAT) and non-enzymatic antioxidants (glutathione (GSH) and ascorbic acid (ascorbate, vitamin C). Indicators for cell apoptosis of K. mikimotoi including decreased caspase-3 and -9 protease activity were observed when the co-cultured systems were under rising CO2 exposure. Furthermore, high CO2 level disturbed fatty acid synthesis in U. pertusa and significantly decreased the contents of fatty acids with allelopathy, resulting in the allelopathy weakening of U. pertusa. Collectively, rising CO2 level promoted the growth of K. mikimotoi and weakened allelopathic effects of U. pertusa on K. mikimotoi, indicating the increased difficulties in controlling K. mikimotoi using macroalgae in the future.

Abstract
In this study, a novel fluorescent nanoprobe (ZIF-90@FSS) was constructed using a zeolite imidazolium ester skeleton (ZIF-90) incorporating sodium fluorescein within its porous structure. Notably, this nanoprobe exhibited regular fluorescence "off" detection performance of Fe3+ in actual samples and living cells. The concentration range of 0-150 ng/mL exhibited a lowest detection limit of 0.26 ng/mL. A nanofiber paper-based platform (VL78/ZIF-90@FSS) was further developed by coupling the prepared nanoprobe to a multi-dimensional fiber paper via CN bonds, enabling rapid visual white light colorimetric and fluorescence imaging of Fe3+ within 2 min. The constructed nanoprobe and its paper-based detection platforms demonstrated a stable recovery range in tap water, beer, and soy sauce samples during spiking-recovery assessments. The recovery rates ranged from 98.46 % to 108.24 % for the nanoprobe and from 91.75 % to 108.71 % for the nanofiber paper-based platform. Therefore, the developed nano-fluorescent sensor and paper-based nanofiber sensing platform offer a promising strategy for the visual detection of Fe3+, while also presenting novel and valuable methods to investigate the regulatory mechanisms of Fe3+ in living cells.

Abstract
Battery health assessment and recuperation play crucial roles in the utilization of second-life Li-ion batteries. However, due to ambiguous aging mechanisms, it is challenging to estimate battery health and devise an effective strategy for cell rejuvenation. This paper presents aging and reconditioning experiments of 62 commercial lithium iron phosphate cells, which allow us to use machine learning models to predict cycle life and identify important indicators of recoverable capacity. An average test error of 16.84% ± 1.87% (mean absolute percentage error) for cycle life prediction is achieved by gradient boosting regressor. Some of the recoverable lost capacity is found to be attributed to the non-uniformity in electrodes. An experimentally validated equivalent circuit model is built to demonstrate how such non-uniformity can be accumulated, and how it can give rise to recoverable capacity loss. Furthermore, Shapley additive explanations (SHAP) analysis also reveals that battery operation history significantly affects the capacity recovery.

Abstract
Plastein reaction mechanisms and the alteration of its product properties have been studied for decades. This study investigated the plastein-mediated modifications in silver carp protein hydrolysate (SCPH) from both mechanistic and functional perspectives. Unlike prior research, this investigation uncovered that hydrogen bonding supplemented the dominant hydrophobic interactions in plastein's mechanism for the first time, as supported by peptide concentrations, molecular weight, amino acids, chemical forces, and peptide sequence by LC-MS/MS. This innovative reaction mechanism cascaded into the enhancement of SCPH functional attributes. Plastein induced increased COOH in SCPH's side-chain groups significantly enhanced Fe2+ (from 4.49 to 14.12 %) and Zn2+ (from 53.53 to 64.47 %) chelation. Moreover, the elevated DPPH (17.56 %-23.97 %) and hydroxyl radical (68.49 %-79.32 %) scavenging power indicated a broader improvement in SCPH with plastein. In SCPH, plastein elucidated reaction intricacies and enhanced its utility, propelling SCPH into a realm of extended potential.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Computed tomography (CT) radiomics combined with deep transfer learning was used to identify cholesterol and adenomatous gallbladder polyps that have not been well evaluated before surgery. PURPOSE To investigate the potential of various machine learning models, incorporating radiomics and deep transfer learning, in predicting the nature of cholesterol and adenomatous gallbladder polyps. MATERIAL AND METHODS A retrospective analysis was conducted on clinical and imaging data from 100 patients with cholesterol or adenomatous polyps confirmed by surgery and pathology at our hospital between September 2015 and February 2023. Preoperative contrast-enhanced CT radiomics combined with deep learning features were utilized, and t-tests and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) cross-validation were employed for feature selection. Subsequently, 11 machine learning algorithms were utilized to construct prediction models, and the area under the ROC curve (AUC), accuracy, and F1 measure were used to assess model performance, which was validated in a validation group. RESULTS The Logistic algorithm demonstrated the most effective prediction in identifying polyp properties based on 10 radiomics combined with deep learning features, achieving the highest AUC (0.85 in the validation group, 95% confidence interval = 0.68-1.0). In addition, the accuracy (0.83 in the validation group) and F1 measure (0.76 in the validation group) also indicated strong performance. CONCLUSION The machine learning radiomics combined with deep learning model based on enhanced CT proves valuable in predicting the characteristics of cholesterol and adenomatous gallbladder polyps. This approach provides a more reliable basis for preoperative diagnosis and treatment of these conditions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Serum lactate, as a single and an easily available biomarker, has been applied in various diseases. AIMS In this study, we aimed to explore the predictive value of serum lactate for short-term and long-term prognosis in acute pancreatitis (AP) admitted in intensive care unit (ICU) based on a large-scale database. METHODS AP patients admitted in ICU in the MIMIC-IV database were included. We constructed three different models to investigate the relationships between serum lactate and clinical outcomes, including 30-day, 180-day and 1-year mortality in AP. Smooth fitting curves were performed for intuitively demonstrating the relationship between serum lactate and different outcomes in AP by the generalized additive model. RESULTS A total of 895 AP patients admitted in ICU were included. The mortalities of 30 days, 180 days, and 1 year were 12.63% (n = 113), 16.87% (n = 151), and 17.54% (n = 157). In model B, with 1-mmol/L increment in serum lactate, the values of OR in 30-day, 180-day and 1-year mortality were 1.20 (95%CI 1.04-1.37, P = 0.0094), 1.21 (95%CI 1.06-1.37, P = 0.0039), and 1.21 (95%CI 1.07-1.38, P = 0.0035). The AUCs of serum lactate for predicting 30-day, 180-day, and 1-year mortality in AP were 0.688 (95%CI 0.633-0.743), 0.655 (95%CI 0.605-0.705), and 0.653 (95%CI 0.603-0.701), respectively. The cut-off value of serum lactate predicting 30-day, 180-day and 1-year mortality in AP was 2.4 mmol/L. CONCLUSION Serum lactate could be an indicator for short-term and long-term mortality in patients with AP admitted in ICU.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES To investigate the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and blood biochemical indicators in early adolescence, and to provide ideas for early prevention of diseases and explore possible disease-related predictors. METHODS 3125 participants aged 10 ∼ 14 years were selected from China from the survey of "China Nutrition and Health Surveillance ( 2016 ∼ 2017 ) ". Employing advanced statistical methods, including generalized linear models, heatmaps, hierarchical clustering, and generalized additive models, the study delved into the associations between BMI and various biochemical indicators. RESULTS In early adolescence, indicators including systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, weight, height, BMI, hemoglobin, blood uric acid, serum creatinine, albumin, vitamin A presented increasing trends with the increase of age ( P < 0.05 ), whereas LDL-C, vitamin D, and ferritin showed decreasing trends with the increase of age ( P < 0.05 ). The increase in hemoglobin and blood uric acid levels with age was more pronounced in males compared to females ( P < 0.05 ). BMI was positively correlated with blood glucose, hemoglobin, triglyceride, LDL-C, blood uric acid, serum creatinine, ferritin, transferrin receptor, hs-CRP, total protein, vitamin A ( P < 0.05 ). There was a significant BMI × age interaction in the correlation analysis with LDL-C, transferrin receptor, serum creatinine, and hs-CRP ( P < 0.05 ). BMI was a risk factor for hypertension, hypertriglyceridemia, low high density lipoprotein cholesterolemia, and metabolic syndrome in all age groups ( OR > 1, P < 0.05 ). CONCLUSIONS High BMI was a risk factor for hypertension, hypertriglyceridemia, low high density lipoprotein cholesterolemia, and MetS in early adolescents. With the focus on energy intake beginning in early adolescence, the maintenance of a healthy weight warrants greater attention.

Abstract
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Phosphoric acid is commonly used in dentistry as an etchant but can result in excessive demineralization of dentin, a major contributor to the instability of dentin-bonded restorations. Nevertheless, research on the development of etchants that can reduce acid damage is sparse. PURPOSE The purpose of this in vitro study was to investigate the effects of polyvinylpyrrolidone-modified phosphoric acid on the dentin bonding of an etch-and-rinse adhesive. MATERIAL AND METHODS Protective etchants were prepared by adding polyvinylpyrrolidone to 35% phosphoric acid aqueous solutions: the 3 concentrations were 0.5% (P0.5% group), 1% (P1% group), and 2% (P2% group) w/v. The treatment agent of the control group (C) was 35% phosphoric acid gel. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), microhardness, microtensile bonding strength (µTBS), nanoleakage, and in situ zymography were used to evaluate the appearance of the protective etchant on dentin bonding. The results were analyzed with a 1-way ANOVA test (α=.05). RESULTS SEM showed no obviously exposed collagen fiber in the P1% and P2% groups. FTIR showed less demineralization of the dentin surface, and microhardness was higher after treatment with the protective etchant (P<.05). The µTBS of P1% (70 ±9.2 MPa) was the highest, and group C (44 ±5.8 MPa) was the lowest in all groups (P<.05). Moreover, there was weaker MMP activity in the P1% and P2% groups (P<.05). CONCLUSIONS This study demonstrated that the protective etchant effectively reduced demineralization, enhanced bond strength, and reduced nanoleakage and enzyme activity within the hybrid layer.

Abstract
Mechanical ventilation (MV) has the potential to induce extra-pulmonary organ damage by adversely affecting the lungs and promoting the secretion of inflammatory cytokines. High-mobility group box 1 protein (HMGB1) is a pro-inflammatory mediator in ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI), but its effect on MV-associated liver injury and the mechanisms are poorly understood. In the present study, mice were subjected to high-volume MV (20 ml/kg) to induce VILI. MV-induced HMGB1 prompted neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) formation and PANoptosis within the liver. Inhibiting NETs formation by DNase I or PAD4 inhibitor, or by HMGB1 neutralizing ameliorated the liver injury. HMGB1 activated neutrophils to form NETs through TLR4/MyD88/TRAF6 pathway. Importantly, Importin7 siRNA nanoparticles inhibited HMGB1 release and protected against MV-associated liver injury. These data provide evidence of MV-induced HMGB1 prompted NETs formation and PANoptosis in the liver via the TLR4/MyD88/TRAF6 pathway. HMGB1 is a potential therapeutic target for MV-associated liver injury.

Abstract
Grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) are used as raw material for conventional surimi products in Southern China. However, endogenous serine proteases deteriorated the texture of the surimi gel. To unlock the mechanism behind, the present study isolated the crude myofibril-bound serine protease (cMBSP) in grass carp and studied its effects on surimi gel. The cMBSP activity was the highest at 40 °C and pH 8.0, and it remained stable at 20-55 °C neutral pH. Additionally, it was susceptible to serine protease inhibitors and high concentrations of Na+. The maximum degradation of myosin heavy chain by cMBSP was observed at 50 °C. Protein unc-45 homolog B (a myosin chaperone) is one of the apparent degradation products according to mass spectrometry. The cMBSP caused lower water holding capacity and deteriorated texture in the surimi gel. This study expanded insights about the mechanism of surimi gel degradation by cMBSP, which provided theoretical basis for enhancing surimi quality.

Abstract
Adjuvants enhance the body's immune response to a vaccine, often leading to better protection against diseases. Monophosphoryl lipid A analogues (MPLA, TLR4 agonists), α-galactosylceramide analogues (NKT cell agonists), and imidazoquinoline compounds (TLR7/8 agonists) are emerging novel adjuvants on market or under clinical trials. Despite significant interest in these adjuvants, a direct comparison of their adjuvant activities remains unexplored. We initially assessed the activities of various adjuvants from three distinct categories using the SARS-CoV-2 RBD trimer antigen. TLR4 and TLR7/8 agonists are discovered to elicit robust IgG2a/2b antibodies, which is crucial for eliciting antibody dependent cytotoxicity. While α-galactosylceramide analogs induced mainly IgG1 antibody. Then, because of the flexibility of the TLR7/8 agonist, we designed and synthesized a tri-component self-adjuvanting SARS-CoV-2 RBD vaccine, featuring a covalent TLR7 agonist and targeting mannoside. Animal studies indicated that this vaccine generated antigen-specific humoral immunity. Yet, its immunogenicity seems compromised, indicating the complexity of the vaccine.

Abstract
We present an exceptional case of a 53-year-old female, initially misdiagnosed with fulminant myocarditis, but later correctly diagnosed with pheochromocytoma. The presentation of the patient included a spectrum of symptoms such as headache, chest discomfort, palpitations, and dyspnea, following the intake of Domperidone. Two weeks prior to admission, the patient had experienced episodes of diarrhea and a low-grade fever. Unresolved symptoms and an unmanageable surge in blood pressure despite comprehensive fulminant myocarditis treatment prompted further investigation. The discovery of an adrenal mass via a CT scan and subsequent biochemical tests led to the confirmation of pheochromocytoma. Implementation of alpha-blockade therapy and a successful laparoscopic adrenalectomy resulted in significant clinical improvement. This case underscores the diagnostic intricacies of pheochromocytoma and highlights the need for vigilance when faced with severe, unresponsive cardiovascular symptoms.

Abstract
We report a Ta2O5 photonic platform with a propagation loss of 0.49 dB/cm at 1550 nm, of 0.86 dB/cm at 780 nm, and of 3.76 dB/cm at 2000 nm. The thermal bistability measurement is conducted in the entire C-band for the first time to reveal the absorption loss of Ta2O5 waveguides, offering guidelines for further reduction of the waveguide loss. We also characterize the Ta2O5 waveguide temperature response, which shows favorable thermal stability. The fabrication process temperature is below 350°C, which is friendly to integration with active optoelectronic components.

Abstract
The production of N-linked glycoproteins in genetically engineered Escherichia coli holds significant potential for reducing costs, streamlining bioprocesses, and enhancing customization. However, the construction of a stable and low-cost microbial cell factory for the efficient production of humanized N-glycosylated recombinant proteins remains a formidable challenge. In this study, we developed a glyco-engineered E. coli chassis to produce N-glycosylated proteins with the human-like glycan Gal-β-1,4-GlcNAc-β-1,3-Gal-β-1,3-GlcNAc-, containing the human glycoform Gal-β-1,4-GlcNAc-β-1,3-. Our initial efforts were to replace various loci in the genome of the E. coli XL1-Blue strain with oligosaccharyltransferase PglB and the glycosyltransferases LsgCDEF to construct the E. coli chassis. In addition, we systematically optimized the promoter regions in the genome to regulate transcription levels. Subsequently, utilizing a plasmid carrying the target protein, we have successfully obtained N-glycosylated proteins with 100% tetrasaccharide modification at a yield of approximately 320 mg/L. Furthermore, we constructed the metabolic pathway for sialylation using a plasmid containing a dual-expression cassette of the target protein and CMP-sialic acid synthesis in the tetrasaccharide chassis cell, resulting in a 40% efficiency of terminal α-2,3- sialylation and a production of 65 mg/L of homogeneously sialylated glycoproteins in flasks. Our findings pave the way for further exploration of producing different linkages (α-2,3/α-2,6/α-2,8) of sialylated human-like N-glycoproteins in the periplasm of the plug-and-play E. coli chassis, laying a strong foundation for industrial-scale production.

Abstract
Retinoic acid receptor-related orphan receptor γ (RORγ) acts as a crucial transcription factor in Th17 cells and is involved in diverse autoimmune disorders. RORγ allosteric inhibitors have gained significant research focus as a novel strategy to inhibit RORγ transcriptional activity. Leveraging the high affinity and selectivity of RORγ allosteric inhibitor MRL-871 (1), this study presents the design, synthesis, and characterization of 11 allosteric fluorescent probes. Utilizing the preferred probe 12h, we established an efficient and cost-effective fluorescence polarization-based affinity assay for screening RORγ allosteric binders. By employing virtual screening in conjunction with this assay, 10 novel RORγ allosteric inhibitors were identified. The initial SAR studies focusing on the hit compound G381-0087 are also presented. The encouraging outcomes indicate that probe 12h possesses the potential to function as a powerful tool in facilitating the exploration of RORγ allosteric inhibitors and furthering understanding of RORγ function.

Abstract
This study aimed to explore the association between admission hemoglobin level and clinical outcomes in sepsis based on Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care IV(MIMIC-IV) database. It was a retrospective study. Sepsis patients in the database were included. Data extraction from MIMIC-IV was performed by PostgreSQL 9.6 software. Three different models including crude model (adjusted for none), model I (adjusted for gender and age) and model II (adjusted for all potential cofounders) were constructed. A generalized liner model and a smooth fitting curve for indicating the relationship between hemoglobin level and 30-day mortality were performed. 6249 septic patients with a 30.18% of 30-day mortality were included. With 1 g/dl increment in hemoglobin level, the values of odds ratio (OR) in crude model, model I and model II were 0.96 (95% confidential interval (CI) 0.94-0.99, P = 0.0023), 0.96 (95%CI 0.93-0.98, P = 0.0010) and 0.87 (95%CI 0.79-0.95, P = 0.0020), respectively. The smooth fitting curve indicated a non-linear relationship and the turning point was 7.2 g/dl. Compared the hemoglobin group < 7.2 g/dl, the risk of 30-day mortality significantly decreased by 32% in the hemoglobin group ≥ 7.2 g/dl (OR = 0.68, 95%CI 0.51-0.93, P = 0.0142). The non-linear relationship between admission hemoglobin level and 30-day mortality in sepsis was found. Hemoglobin supplementation might be beneficial for septic patients with hemoglobin level < 7.2 g/dl.

Abstract
Switchable spontaneous polarization is the vital property of ferroelectrics, which leads to other key physical properties such as piezoelectricity, pyroelectricity, and nonlinear optical effects, etc. Recently, organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites with 2D layered structure have become an emerging branch of ferroelectric materials. However, most of the 2D hybrid ferroelectrics own relatively low polarizations (<15 µC cm-2 ). Here, a strategy to enhance the polarization of these hybrid perovskites by using ortho-, meta-, para-halogen substitution is developed. Based on (benzylammonium)2 PbCl4 (BZACL), the para-chlorine substituted (4-chlorobenzylammonium)2 PbCl4 (4-CBZACL) ferroelectric semiconductor shows a large spontaneous polarization (23.3 µC cm-2 ), which is 79% larger than the polarization of BZACL. This large enhancement of polarization is successfully explained via ab initio calculations. The study provides a convenient and efficient strategy to promote the ferroelectric property in the hybrid perovskite family.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To explore the feasibility of unenhanced CT images for endoleak detection of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) after endovascular repair (EVAR). METHODS Patients who visited our hospital after EVAR from July 2014 to September 2021 were retrospectively collected. Two radiologists evaluated the presence or absence of endoleaks using the combination of contrast-enhanced and unenhanced CT as the referenced standard. After segmenting the aneurysm sac of the unenhanced CT, the radiomic features were automatically extracted from the region of interest. Histogram features of patients with and without endoleak were statistically analyzed to explore the differences between the two groups. Twelve common machine learning (ML) models based on radiomic features were constructed to evaluate the performance of endoleak detection with unenhanced CT images. RESULTS The study included 216 patients (69 ± 8 years; 191 men) with AAA, including 64 patients with endoleaks. A total of 1955 radiomic features of unenhanced CT were extracted. Compared with patients without endoleak, the aneurysm sac outside the stent of patients with endoleak had higher CT attenuation (41.7 vs. 33.6, p < 0.001) with smaller dispersion (51.5 vs. 58.8, p < 0.001). The average area under the curve (AUC) of the ML models constructed with unenhanced CT radiomics was 0.86 ± 0.05, the accuracy was 81% ± 4, the sensitivity was 88% ± 10, and the specificity was 78% ± 5. When fixing the sensitivity to > 90% (92% ± 2), the models retained specificity at 72% ± 10. CONCLUSIONS Unenhanced CT features exhibit significant differences between patients with and without endoleak and can help detect endoleaks in AAA after EVAR with high sensitivity. CLINICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT Unenhanced CT radiomics can help provide an alternative method of endoleak detection in patients who have adverse reactions to contrast media. This study further exploits the value of unenhanced CT examinations in the clinical management and surveillance of postoperative abdominal aortic aneurysm. KEY POINTS • Unenhanced CT features of the aneurysm sac outside the stent exhibit significant differences between patients with and without endoleak. The endoleak group showed higher unenhanced CT attenuation (41.7 vs 33.6, p < .001) with smaller dispersion (51.5 vs 58.8, p < .001) than the nonendoleak group. • Unenhanced CT radiomics can help detect endoleaks after intervention. Abstract
Background Prehospital emergency care is a critical but often understudied aspect of healthcare. Patient vulnerability in this setting can significantly impact outcomes. The aim of this study was to investigate the vulnerability status and to determine associated affect factors among prehospital emergency patients in China. Methods In this cross-sectional study conducted in China, from April 2023 to July 2023, we assessed the vulnerability of prehospital emergency patients using the Safety in Prehospital Emergency Care Index (SPECI) scale. We conducted a detailed questionnaire-based survey to gather demographic and disease-related information. We employed the SPECI scale, consisting of two subscales, to evaluate patient vulnerability. Statistical analyses, including t-tests, ANOVA, and multiple linear regression, were used to identify factors associated with vulnerability. Results The study included a total of 973 prehospital emergency patients, with a response rate of 81.9%. These patients exhibited a low-to-moderate level of vulnerability, with an average SPECI score of 14.46 out of 40. Vulnerability was significantly associated with age (particularly those aged 60 and above), disease severity (severe conditions increased vulnerability), disease type (circulatory diseases correlated with higher vulnerability), alterations in consciousness, and chronic diseases. Unexpectedly, digestive system diseases were negatively correlated with vulnerability. Conclusion Addressing patient vulnerability in prehospital care is essential. Tailored interventions, EMS provider training, and interdisciplinary collaboration can mitigate vulnerability, especially in older patients and those with severe conditions.

Abstract
As indicated by longitudinal observation, autism has difficulty controlling emotions to a certain extent in early childhood, and most children's emotional and behavioral problems are further aggravated with the growth of age. This study aimed at exploring the correlation between white matter and white matter fiber bundle connectivity characteristics and their emotional regulation ability in children with autism using machine learning methods, which can lay an empirical basis for early clinical intervention of autism. Fifty-five high risk of autism spectrum disorder (HR-ASD) children and 52 typical development (TD) children were selected to complete the skull 3D-T1 structure and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). The emotional regulation ability of the two groups was compared using the still-face paradigm (SFP). The classification and regression models of white matter characteristics and white matter fiber bundle connections of emotion regulation ability in the HR-ASD group were built based on the machine learning method. The volume of the right amygdala (R2 = 0.245) and the volume of the right hippocampus (R2 = 0.197) affected constructive emotion regulation strategies. FA (R2 = 0.32) and MD (R2 = 0.34) had the predictive effect on self-stimulating behaviour. White matter fiber bundle connection predicted constructive regulation strategies (positive edging R2 = 0.333, negative edging R2 = 0.334) and mother-seeking behaviors (positive edging R2 = 0.667, negative edging R2 = 0.363). The emotional regulation ability of HR-ASD children is significantly correlated with the connections of multiple white matter fiber bundles, which is a potential neuro-biomarker of emotional regulation ability.

Abstract
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is the most common type of blood cancer and has been strongly correlated with the overexpression of Fms-like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3), a member of the class III receptor tyrosine kinase family. With the emergence of FLT3 internal tandem duplication alteration (ITD) and tyrosine kinase domain (TKD) mutations, the development of FLT3 small molecule inhibitors has become an effective medicinal chemistry strategy for AML. Herein, we have designed and synthesized two series of 1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine derivatives CM1-CM24, as FLT3 inhibitors based on F14, which we previously reported, that can target the hydrophobic FLT3 back pocket. Among these derivates, CM5 showed significant inhibition of FLT3 and FLT3-ITD, with inhibitory percentages of 57.72 % and 53.77 % respectively at the concentration of 1 μΜ. Furthermore, CM5 demonstrated potent inhibition against FLT3-dependent human AML cell lines MOLM-13 and MV4-11 (both harboring FLT3-ITD mutant), with IC50 values of 0.75 μM and 0.64 μM respectively. In our cellular mechanistic studies, CM5 also effectively induces apoptosis by arresting cell cycle progression in the G0/G1 phase. In addition, the amide and urea linker function were discussed in detail based on computational simulations studies. CM5 will serve as a novel lead compound for further structural modification and development of FLT3 inhibitors specifically targeting AML with FLT3-ITD mutations.

Abstract
sTF (sialyl-Thomsen-Friedenreich) is a type of tumor-associated carbohydrate antigens (TACAs) and is highly expressed in various human malignancies. To validate if sTF could be a valuable molecular target for future cancer vaccine development, in this work the sTF antigen was prepared by adopting a strategy combining chemical and enzymatic methods, and then was covalently conjugated to a carrier protein, CRM197. The preliminary immunological evaluation, performed on BALB/c mice, revealed that the sTF-CRM197 conjugate elicited high titers of specific IgG antibodies. FACS experiments showed that the antisera induced by sTF-CRM197 conjugate could specifically recognize and bind to sTF-positive cancer cells T-47D. Furthermore, the conjugate mediated effective and specific antibody-mediated complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC).

Abstract
Background/Objective Reticulocyte hemoglobin content (MCHr) was recognized as a rapid and reliable marker for investigating iron deficiency (ID). We hypothesized that MCHr was associated with the risk of iron deficiency anemia in adults. Methods This is a dual-center case-control study. A total of 806 patients and healthy individuals were recruited from Ruijin Hospital and Xinhua Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine between January 2021 and December 2021. The participants were categorized into iron deficiency anemia (IDA) group (n = 302), non-IDA group (n = 366), and healthy control group (n = 138). According to the MCHr level, the participants were divided into two groups, i.e. normal MCHr (≥25 pg) and decreased MCHr (<25 pg) group. Multivariate logistic regression analysis and adjusted subgroup analysis were conducted to estimate the relative risk between MCHr and IDA, with confounding factors including age, sex, hemoglobin (Hb), mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), Hematocrit (HCT), serum iron (Fe), ferritin (Ferrit), and total iron binding capacity (TIBC). Results Compared with the non-IDA, the MCHr level with IDA decreased significantly. ROC curve analysis showed that MCHr had the largest area under the AUC curve. After comprehensive adjustment for confounding factors, individuals with normal level of MCHr exhibited a decreased risk of IDA (OR = 0.68 [0.60, 0.77], P < 0.01), while the risk of IDA was up to 5 times higher for those with decreased MCHr. Conclusion Our findings supported the hypothesis that MCHr was associated with the risk of IDA in adults and could serve as an indicator of IDA severity. MCHr holds clinical value as an auxiliary diagnostic indicator, providing valuable insights into whether invasive examinations are warranted in the assessment of IDA.

Abstract
Aspirin-related gastrointestinal damage is of growing concern. Aspirin use modulates the gut microbiota and associated metabolites, such as bile acids (BAs), but how this impacts intestinal homeostasis remains unclear. Herein, using clinical cohorts and aspirin-treated mice, we identified an intestinal microbe, Parabacteroides goldsteinii, whose growth is suppressed by aspirin. Mice supplemented with P. goldsteinii or its BA metabolite, 7-keto-lithocholic acid (7-keto-LCA), showed reduced aspirin-mediated damage of the intestinal niche and gut barrier, effects that were lost with a P. goldsteinii hdhA mutant unable to generate 7-keto-LCA. Specifically, 7-keto-LCA promotes repair of the intestinal epithelium by suppressing signaling by the intestinal BA receptor, farnesoid X receptor (FXR). 7-Keto-LCA was confirmed to be an FXR antagonist that facilitates Wnt signaling and thus self-renewal of intestinal stem cells. These results reveal the impact of oral aspirin on the gut microbiota and intestinal BA metabolism that in turn modulates gastrointestinal homeostasis.

Abstract
After optimizing the original aptamer sequence by truncation strategy, a magnetic separation-assisted DNAzyme-driven 3D DNA walker fluorescent aptasensor was developed for detecting the food-borne pathogen Cronobacter species. Iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) modified with a hybrid of truncated aptamer probe and DNAzyme strand (AP-E1) denoted as MNPs@AP-E1, were employed as capture probes. Simultaneously, a DNAzyme-driven 3D-DNA walker was utilized as the signal amplification element. The substrate strand (Sub) was conjugated with the gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), resulting in the formation of AuNPs@Sub, which served as a 3D walking track. In the presence of the target bacteria and Mg2+, E1-DNAzyme was activated and moved along AuNPs@Sub, continuously releasing the signal probe. Under optimized conditions, a strong linear correlation was observed for Cronobacter sakazakii (C. sakazakii) in the concentration range 101 to 106 CFU mL-1, with a low detection limit of 2 CFU mL-1. The fluorescence signal responses for different Cronobacter species exhibited insignificant differences, with a relative standard deviation of 3.6%. Moreover, the aptasensor was successfully applied to determine C. sakazakii in real samples with recoveries of 92.86%-108.33%. Therefore, the novel method could be a good candidate for ultra-sensitive and selective detection of Cronobacter species without complex manipulation.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Residents inevitably witness or participate in a diverse range of professionalism dilemmas. However, few studies have focused on residents' moral distress from professionalism dilemmas and its relationship with residents' professionalism. This study aimed to understand the moral distress that Chinese residents may face after exposure to professionalism dilemmas and to examine the associations between moral distress and residents' perceived fulfillment of professionalism behaviors. METHODS We conducted a cross-sectional survey of residents from four standardized residency training bases in Liaoning Province, China, using stratified cluster sampling. A checklist of professionalism dilemmas, the Moral Distress Scale, and the Behavior-based Medical Professionalism Inventory were used to assess residents' moral distress from professionalism dilemmas and their perceived fulfillment of professionalism behaviors. Descriptive statistics, non-parametric tests, multiple linear regressions, and binary logistic regressions were used to analyze the data. RESULTS A total of 647 (81.1%) residents effectively completed the survey. The proportion of residents suffering from moral distress ranged from 58.4 to 90.6% for different professionalism dilemmas. As the number of professionalism dilemmas associated with moral distress increased, residents reported lower fulfillment of professionalism behaviors (β < 0, p < 0.05). Compared with residents with no distress, residents suffering from distress reported lower fulfillment of professionalism behaviors (OR < 1, p < 0.05). Among residents suffering from distress, as the distress intensity increased, residents reported higher fulfillment of professionalism behaviors (OR > 1, p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Residents suffered a wide range of moral distress from professionalism dilemmas, and residents with moral distress reported lower fulfillment of professional behaviors. A responsive reporting system for residents and reflection on role modeling may help residents cope with the negative effects of moral distress and professionalism dilemmas.

Abstract
To develop food flavorings with a delicious taste and an anti-oxidation effect, in this study, the glucose Maillard reaction was used for hydrolysates of Urechis unicinctus. The various biological activities of Maillard reaction products (MRPs) and their antioxidant capacity were evaluated. The results showed that the unique fishy odor substances of seafood in MRPs were reduced, indicating that the Maillard reaction improved the flavor of the hydrolysate of Urechis unicinctus. Meanwhile, MRPs exhibited more competitive radical scavenging activities compared to the hydrolysate. Moreover, MRPs demonstrated a considerable potential to protect against 2,2'-Azobis (2-methylpropionamidine) dihydrochloride (AAPH)-induced oxidative stress in a cell model in vitro and in a zebrafish model in vivo. Finally, a novel food flavoring was produced with MRPs as raw material, while the sensory qualities were deemed acceptable. In consequence, during industrial production, MRPs of Urechis unicinctus hydrolysate act as a high-quality raw material for functional flavorings and provide an effective way for the utilization of marine resources.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to investigate the effects of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)-containing primer (PCP) on dentin bonding. METHODS PVP and anhydrous ethanol were used to prepare the PCPs, which were prepared at concentrations of 0.5%, 1%, and 2% (w/v). These PCPs were subsequently applied to the dentin surface, denoted as E1, E2, and E3, respectively. In the control group, no primer was applied. Following the treatment, the dentin surfaces were subjected to analysis using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and the micro-tensile bond strength (MTBS) was evaluated. The failure mode, nanoleakage, and bonding longitudinal section were observed utilizing scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Additionally, the effect of PCPs on matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) activity was analyzed through an in situ zymography test. Data were subjected to statistical analysis using ANOVA tests (α = 0.05). RESULTS Significant alterations in the infrared resonances associated with collagen cross-linking within the collagen matrix were observed across all PCP groups. The application of PCP demonstrated a noteworthy enhancement in micro-tensile bond strength (MTBS) compared to group C (p < 0.05). Notably, group C exhibited the lowest MTBS (41 ± 7.7 MPa), whereas group E2 demonstrated the highest MTBS (66 ± 11.9 MPa). Even after undergoing aging, the MTBS of the PCP groups remained superior to that of group C (p < 0.05). The resin tag length in the PCP groups was found to be greater than that of group C, and the occurrence of nanoleakage was comparatively lower in the PCP groups, both before and after aging. Additionally, PCP exhibited a dose-dependent inhibition of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) activity, which was statistically significant (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS The utilization of PCP Primer exhibits notable enhancements in bond strength, mitigates nano-leakage, and suppresses enzyme activity within the hybrid layer.

Abstract
CuS/Bi2O3 composite photocatalyst was prepared by calcination and in situ precipitation, and peroxymonosulfate (PMS) was applied to the degradation of tetracycline (TC) wastewater under visible light. The microscopic morphology, chemical composition, and optical properties of the composites were investigated by characterization means of XRD, FTIR, SEM, XPS, and UV-Vis DRS. The results showed that the introduction of CuS increased the specific surface area of Bi2O3 and increased the visible absorption boundary of Bi2O3 from 455 to 524 nm, which effectively inhibited the complexation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. The experimental results showed that the introduction of PMS strengthened the removal of TC from the composites, and 95% of TC could be removed under visible light irradiation, and the reaction rate was 8.22 times higher than that of the unspiked PMS, indicating that the BC-15+vis/PMS catalytic system could degrade the pollutants efficiently. The radical capture experiments showed that several radicals, including ·OH, SO4·-, ·O2-, h+, and 1O2, were present in the catalytic system as the main active species to degrade TC, and the mechanism of photocatalytic activation of PMS by Z-type heterostructures of CuS/Bi2O3 composites was proposed. The present study showed that BC-15 has excellent degradation performance and stability, which provides new ideas for the treatment of antibiotic wastewater.

Abstract
Image captioning is a core challenge in computer vision, attracting significant attention. Traditional methods prioritize caption quality, often overlooking style control. Our research enhances method controllability, enabling descriptions of varying detail. By integrating a length level embedding into current models, they can produce detailed or concise captions, increasing diversity. We introduce a length-level reranking transformer to correlate image and text complexity, optimizing caption length for informativeness without redundancy. Additionally, with caption length increase, computational complexity grows due to the autoregressive (AR) design of existing methods. To address this, our non-autoregressive (NAR) model maintains constant complexity regardless of caption length. We've developed a training approach that includes refinement sequence training and sequence-level knowledge distillation to close the performance gap between NAR and AR models. In testing, our models set new standards for caption quality on the MS COCO dataset and offer enhanced controllability and diversity. Our NAR model excels over AR models in these aspects and shows greater efficiency with longer captions. With advanced training techniques, our NAR's caption quality rivals that of leading AR models.

Abstract
Gastric cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer-related death worldwide. The N6 -methyladenosine (m6 A) reader IGF2BP1 (insulin-like growth factor-2 mRNA binding protein 1) has been reported to promote cancer progression by stabilizing oncogenic mRNAs through its m6 A-binding activity in some tumors. However, the role of IGF2BP1 in gastric carcinogenesis remains unclear. In this study, we found that IGF2BP1 is significantly downregulated in tumor tissues from patients with gastric cancer. Lower expression of IGF2BP1 is associated with poor prognosis. Gastric cancer cell proliferation is suppressed by IGF2BP1 in an m6 A-dependent manner. Additionally, IGF2BP1 is able to significantly attenuate tumor growth of gastric cancer cells. Further m6 A sequencing and m6 A-RNA immunoprecipitation assays show that MYC (c-myc proto-oncogene) mRNA is a target transcript of IGF2BP1 in gastric cancer cells. IGF2BP1 inhibits gastric cancer cell proliferation by reducing the mRNA and protein expression of MYC. Mechanistically, IGF2BP1 promotes the degradation of MYC mRNA and inhibits its translation efficiency. Taken together, these data suggest that IGF2BP1 plays a tumor-suppressive role in gastric carcinogenesis by downregulating MYC in an m6 A-dependent manner, thereby making the IGF2BP1-MYC axis a potential target for gastric cancer treatment.

Abstract
By systematically examing through Longdan Xiegan Decoction in medical books of the past dynasties, it was found that the Longdan Xiegan Decoction recorded in Lan Shi Mi Cang mainly targeted men's genital odor at frist. After Xue Ji's addition and subtraction, the scope of the prescription was gradually generalized and expanded, and confusion its name, composition and source of the prescription appeared, which was particularly prominent in Jingyue Quanshu and Yifang Jijie.Doctors used to interpret this prescription from the perspective of viscera. In order to better understand the main treatment rules of Longdan Xiegan Decoction, it is necessary to change the perspective and reinterpreted it from the perspective of meridians.Attributing the symptoms of the perineum to Liver Meridian of Foot-Jueyin,hypochondriac pain, deafness and other symptoms to the Gallbladder Meridian of Foot-Shaoyang, and adding or subtracting herbs according to the specific conditions, is not only conducive to a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the prescription to achieve accurate clinical syndrome differentiation and medication, but also prompts modern researchers to rethink the important role of meridian theory in the formation and development of the theoretical system of traditional Chinese medicine.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Experimental and epidemiological studies have linked metals with women's reproductive aging, but the mechanisms are not well understood. Disrupted ovarian folliculogenesis and diminished ovarian reserve could be a pathway through which metals impact reproductive hormones and outcomes. OBJECTIVE The study aimed to evaluate the associations of heavy metals with anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), a marker of ovarian reserve. METHODS The study included 549 women from the Study of Women's Health Across the Nation with 2252 repeated AMH measurements from 10 to 0 years before the final menstrual period (FMP). Serum AMH concentrations were measured using picoAMH ELISA. Urinary concentrations of arsenic, cadmium, mercury, and lead were measured using high-resolution inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Multivariable linear mixed regressions modeled AMH as a function of time before the FMP interaction terms between metals and time to the FMP were also included. RESULTS Adjusting for confounders, compared with those in the lowest tertile, women in the highest tertile of urinary arsenic or mercury concentrations had lower AMH concentrations at the FMP (percent change: -32.1%; 95% CI, -52.9 to -2.2, P-trend = .03 for arsenic; percent change: -40.7%; 95% CI, -58.9 to -14.5, P-trend = .005 for mercury). Higher cadmium and mercury were also associated with accelerated rates of decline in AMH over time (percent change per year: -9.0%; 95% CI, -15.5 to -1.9, P-trend = .01 for cadmium; -7.3%; 95% CI, -14.0 to -0.1, P-trend = .04 for mercury). CONCLUSION Heavy metals including arsenic, cadmium, and mercury may act as ovarian toxicants by diminishing ovarian reserve in women approaching the FMP.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Pulse wave velocity (PWV) is a noninvasive measure of arterial stiffness and predictor of cardiovascular disease. However, the association between PWV and vascular calcification across different vascular beds has not been fully investigated. This study aimed to quantify the association between PWV and multiterritory calcification and to explore whether PWV can identify individuals with vascular calcification beyond traditional risk factors. METHODS AND RESULTS Among 1351 older adults (mean age, 79.2 years [SD, 4.1]) from the ARIC (Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities) study, we measured segment-specific PWVs: heart-carotid, heart-femoral, carotid-femoral, heart-ankle, brachial-ankle, and femoral-ankle. Dependent variables were high calcium score (≥75th percentile of Agatston score) across different vascular beds: coronary arteries, aortic valve ring, aortic valve, mitral valve, ascending aorta, and descending aorta. Quartiles of carotid-femoral, heart-femoral, heart-ankle, and brachial-ankle PWV were significantly associated with coronary artery calcium (eg, adjusted odds ratio [OR] for the highest versus lowest quartile of carotid-femoral PWV, 1.84 [95% CI, 1.24-2.74]). Overall, PWVs were most strongly associated with descending aorta calcification, with significant results for carotid-femoral, heart-femoral, heart-ankle, and brachial-ankle PWV (eg, adjusted OR for the highest versus lowest quartile of carotid-femoral PWV, 3.99 [95% CI, 2.61-6.17]). In contrast, femoral-ankle PWV was inversely associated with descending aorta calcification. Some PWVs improved the discrimination of coronary artery calcium and descending aorta calcification beyond traditional risk factors. CONCLUSIONS The associations of PWV with vascular calcification varied substantially across segments, with descending aorta calcification most closely linked to PWVs. Our study suggests that some PWVs, especially carotid-femoral PWV, are helpful to identify individuals with coronary artery calcium and descending aorta calcification.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Depression and hypertension are increasingly prevalent in the U.S., with evidence suggesting significant comorbidity. Despite this, the specific relationship within the U.S. hypertensive population is underexplored. Our study investigates this link using data from the 2007-2014 NHANES database and mortality data from the National Death Index. METHODS A total of 8677 participants were included in this cohort study. Depression diagnosis was made based on the Patient Health Questionnaire-9. Hypertension was defined either through a self-reported previous diagnosis, current antihypertensive medication use, or blood pressure exceeding standard thresholds. Cardiovascular disease mortality was determined by mortality recorded with National Death Index on December 31, 2019. The cox proportional hazards regression method was applied to analyze the association of depression with cardiovascular mortality in hypertension. RESULTS During an average follow-up of 8.2 years, 599 deaths were confirmed from cardiovascular disease. The association of depression with cardiovascular mortality in hypertension was significantly positive (HR, 1.0263(95%CI = 1.0033, 1.0498), p = 0.0247). In addition, the risk of cardiovascular mortality increased gradually with the severity of depressive symptoms (p for trend =0.0259). This positive relationship was basically stable in different subgroup analyses and sensitivity analyses. LIMITATIONS The observational design of our study hinders establishment of a causal relationship. Potential bias due to subjective reporting and the absence of depression treatment data represent limitations, although their impact on the conclusions is deemed minimal. CONCLUSIONS Depression is associated with cardiovascular mortality risk in patients with hypertension. The worsening depressive symptoms, the higher risk of cardiovascular mortality.

Abstract
Menopause is a significant milestone in a woman's life, characterized by decreasing estradiol (E2) and increasing follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels. Growing evidence suggests that air pollution may affect reproductive health and disrupt hormone profiles, yet the associations in women undergoing menopausal transition (MT) remains underexplored. We examined the associations between annual air pollutant exposures and repeated measures of E2 and FSH in 1365 women with known final menstrual period (FMP) date from the Study of Women's Health Across the Nation. Air pollution was calculated as the annual averages of 24-h average PM2.5 levels, daily one-hour maximum NO2 levels, and daily 8-h maximum O3 levels. Linear mixed models with piece-wise linear splines were used to model non-linear trajectories of E2 and FSH in three distinct time periods: up to 2 years before the FMP (early MT), within 2 years before and 2 years after FMP (transmenopause), and >2 years post-FMP (postmenopause). In the transmenopausal period, an interquartile (5 μg/m3) increase in PM2.5 was associated with a significant decrease in E2 levels (-15.7 %, 95 % CI: -23.7, -6.8), and a 10 ppb increase in NO2 was associated with a significant decrease in E2 levels (-9.2 %, 95 % CI: -16.2, -1.7). A higher PM2.5 was also associated with an accelerated rate of decline in E2. Regarding FSH, a 10 ppb increase in NO2 was associated with decline in FSH levels (-11.7 %, 95 % CI: -21.8, -0.1) in the early MT and accelerated rates of decline in the postmenopause (-1.1 % per year, 95 % CI: -2.1, -0.1). Additionally, inverse associations between O3 and FSH were observed in the transmenopause and postmenopause. Our study suggests that increases in PM2.5, NO2, and O3 exposures are linked to significant declines in E2 and FSH levels across menopausal stages, suggesting the detrimental impact of air pollutants on women's reproductive hormones.

Abstract
Cadmium (Cd) is an environmental toxicant that accumulates in grains, which greatly increases the risk of human exposure to Cd via food chain. The exocytosis of Cd is one of the essential detoxification mechanisms in plants. OsEXO70s, which facilitate the fusion of secretory vesicles and target membranes, has undergone significant expansion in rice. Here, we uncovered 40 OsEXO70 genes characterized by genome-wide profiling and focused on the potential functions of OsEXO70s, especially OsEXO70FX1, in Cd stress. Overexpression of OsEXO70FX1 enhanced both diamide and Cd tolerances in Schizosaccharomyces pombe (S. pombe), and in Arabidopsis resulted in 11% more seedlings survival rate and about 70% longer primary roots under Cd treatment compared with WT (empty vector). Meanwhile, Cd treatment upregulated the expression levels of some exocyst subunits in overexpression lines. Trichomes isolated from overexpression lines were observed to accumulate more Cd. Also, reactive oxygen species (ROS) induced by Cd stress reflected less sensitivity of OsEXO70FX1 overexpression lines to Cd stress, which was evidenced in the Cd determination assay. These results provide the fundament to future research on rice EXO70 family and suggest that it may have evolved a specialized role in response to Cd stress.

Abstract
Sound urban water management relies on extensive and reliable monitoring of water infrastructure. As low-cost sensors and networks have become increasingly available for environmental monitoring, urban water researchers and practitioners must consider the benefits and disadvantages of such technologies. In this perspective paper, we highlight six technical and socio-technological considerations for low-cost monitoring technology to reach its full potential in the field of urban water management, including: technical barriers to implementation, complementarity with traditional sensing technologies, low-cost sensor reliability, added value of produced information, opportunities to democratize data collection, and economic and environmental costs of the technology. For each consideration, we present recent experiences from our own work and broader literature and identify future research needs to address current challenges. Our experience supports the strong potential of low-cost monitoring technology, in particular that it promotes extensive and innovative monitoring of urban water infrastructure. Future efforts should focus on more systematic documenting of experiences to lower barriers to designing, implementing, and testing of low-cost sensor networks, and on assessing the economic, social, and environmental costs and benefits of low-cost sensor deployments.

Abstract
To investigate the effect of reduced early-pregnancy activated partial thrombin time (APTT), prothrombin time (PT), and international standardized ratio (INR) on the risk of preeclampsia. A total of 8549 pregnant women with singleton births were included. Early pregnancy APTT, PT, and INR levels, with age, birth, prepregnancy body mass index, fibrinogen (FBG), thrombin time (TT), D-dimer (DD2), antithrombin III (ATIII), fibrin degradation products (FDP) as confounders, generalized linear model of APTT, the relative risk of PT and INR when INR reduction. After adequate adjustment for confounders, the relative risk of preeclampsia was 0.703 for every 1 s increase in plasma PT results in early pregnancy, and for every 0.1 increase in plasma INR results, the relative risk of preeclampsia was 0.767. With a PT less than the P25 quantile (<11 s), the relative risk of preeclampsia was 1.328. The relative risk of preeclampsia at an INR less than the P25 quantile (<0.92) was 1.24. There was no statistical association between APTT on the risk of preeclampsia. The relative risk of preeclampsia is strongly associated with a decrease in PT and INR in early pregnancy. PT and INR in early pregnancy were a potential marker in the risk stratification of preeclampsia. Focusing on reduced PT and INR levels in early pregnancy can help to identify early pregnancies at risk for preeclampsia.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Atherosclerosis, characterized by abnormal arterial lipid deposition, is an age-dependent inflammatory disease and contributes to elevated morbidity and mortality. Senescent foamy macrophages are considered to be deleterious at all stages of atherosclerosis, while the underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown. In this study, we aimed to explore the senescence-related genes in macrophages diagnosis for atherosclerotic plaque progression. METHODS The atherosclerosis-related datasets were retrieved from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, and cellular senescence-associated genes were acquired from the CellAge database. R package Limma was used to screen out the differentially expressed senescence-related genes (DE-SRGs), and then three machine learning algorithms were applied to determine the hub DE-SRGs. Next, we established a nomogram model to further confirm the clinical significance of hub DE-SRGs. Finally, we validated the expression of hub SRG ABI3 by Sc-RNA seq analysis and explored the underlying mechanism of ABI3 in THP-1-derived macrophages and mouse atherosclerotic lesions. RESULTS A total of 15 DE-SRGs were identified in macrophage-rich plaques, with five hub DE-SRGs (ABI3, CAV1, NINJ1, Nox4 and YAP1) were further screened using three machine learning algorithms. Subsequently, a nomogram predictive model confirmed the high validity of the five hub DE-SRGs for evaluating atherosclerotic plaque progression. Further, the ABI3 expression was upregulated in macrophages of advanced plaques and senescent THP-1-derived macrophages, which was consistent with the bioinformatics analysis. ABI3 knockdown abolished macrophage senescence, and the NF-κB signaling pathway contributed to ABI3-mediated macrophage senescence. CONCLUSION We identified five cellular senescence-associated genes for atherogenesis progression and unveiled that ABI3 might promote macrophage senescence via activation of the NF-κB pathway in atherogenesis progression, which proposes new preventive and therapeutic strategies of senolytic agents for atherosclerosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The phase III RATIONALE-302 study evaluated tislelizumab, an anti-programmed cell death protein 1 antibody, as second-line (2L) treatment for advanced/metastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). This prespecified exploratory analysis investigated outcomes in patients from Europe and North America (Europe/North America subgroup). PATIENTS AND METHODS Patients with tumor progression during/after first-line systemic treatment were randomized 1 : 1 to open-label tislelizumab or investigator's choice of chemotherapy (paclitaxel, docetaxel, or irinotecan). RESULTS The Europe/North America subgroup comprised 108 patients (tislelizumab: n = 55; chemotherapy: n = 53). Overall survival (OS) was prolonged with tislelizumab versus chemotherapy (median: 11.2 versus 6.3 months), with a hazard ratio (HR) of 0.55 [95% confidence interval (CI) 0.35-0.87]; HR was similar irrespective of programmed death-ligand 1 score [≥10%: 0.47 (95% CI 0.18-1.21); <10%: 0.55 (95% CI 0.30-1.01)]. Median progression-free survival was 2.3 versus 2.7 months with tislelizumab versus chemotherapy [HR: 0.97 (95% CI 0.64-1.47)]. Overall response rate was greater with tislelizumab (20.0%) versus chemotherapy (11.3%), with more durable response (median duration of response: 5.1 versus 2.1 months). Tislelizumab had a favorable safety profile versus chemotherapy, with fewer patients experiencing ≥grade 3 treatment-related adverse events (13.0% versus 51.0%). Those on tislelizumab experienced less deterioration in health-related quality of life, physical functioning, and/or disease- and treatment-related symptoms (i.e. fatigue, pain, and eating problems) as compared to those on chemotherapy, per the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core 30 (QLQ-C30) and QLQ-OES18 scores. CONCLUSIONS As a 2L therapy for advanced/metastatic ESCC, tislelizumab improved OS and had a favorable safety profile as compared to chemotherapy in European/North American ESCC patients in the randomized phase III RATIONALE-302 study.

Abstract
The therapeutic benefits of available FLT3 inhibitors for AML are limited by drug resistance, which is related to mutations, as well toxicity caused by off-target effects. In this study, we introduce a new small molecule FLT3 inhibitor called danatinib, which was designed to overcome the limitations of currently approved agents. Danatinib demonstrated greater potency and selectivity, resulting in cytotoxic activity specific to FLT3-ITD and/or FLT3-TKD mutated models. It also showed a superior kinome inhibition profile compared to several currently approved FLT3 inhibitors. In diverse FLT3-TKD models, danatinib exhibited substantially improved activity at clinically relevant doses, outperforming approved FLT3 inhibitors. In vivo safety evaluations performed on the granulopoiesis of transgenic myeloperoxidase (MPO) zebrafish and mice models proved danatinib to have an acceptable safety profile. Danatinib holds promise as a new and improved FLT3 inhibitor for the treatment of AML, offering long-lasting remissions and improved overall survival rates.

Abstract
Background Bicaudal-D (BICD) Family Like Cargo Adaptor 1 (BICDL1) is an essential component of the molecular mechanism during neuronal development. However, BICDL1 has not been reported in cancer. Using bioinformatics analysis, we systematically evaluated the potential role of BICDL1 in CRC. Methods Colorectal cancer (CRC) and normal tissue samples were retrieved from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx), and Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) databases. Kaplan-Meier (K-M) analysis, nomogram, COX analysis, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to evaluate the prognostic power. Correlation analysis was also conducted to explore the correlation between mRNA expression and the methylation level of BICDL1 using cBioPortal, and the correlation between immune infiltration and BICDL1. RT-qPCR and Western blot assays were performed to analyze BICDL1 expression level between human colorectal cancer cell lines and normal colonic epithelial cells. Results BICDL1 had a higher expression in CRC tissues than in normal tissues (p < 0.001) in TCGA and GES 74602 datasets. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis revealed that patients with high BICDL1 expression had lower overall survival (OS) (1.53, 95% confidence interval: 1.07-2.17, p=0.019). The ROC curves demonstrated that BICDL1 has high specificity and efficiency in diagnosis (AUC=0.919, CI: 0.895-0.943). The expression level of BICDL1 was significantly correlated with the infiltrating levels of Treg (R=0.146, p <0.001), TFH (R=0.080, p=0.043), NK CD56bright cells (R=0.149, p <0.001), aDC (R=0.095, p=0.016), and T helper cell infiltration (R=-0.084, p=0.034). The correlation between BICDL1 expression and methylation levels was negative (R2=0.134, p <0.001), and CRC patients had lower methylation levels than normal people (p=0.036). BICDL1 mRNA and its protein expression levels in CRC cell lines (SW620) was markedly increased compared with that of normal colonic epithelial cells (NCM460) (p < 0.001). Conclusion BICDL1 may be a potential biomarker for evaluating immune infiltration levels and prognosis of CRC.

Abstract
Substrate positioning dynamics (SPD) orients the substrate in the active site, thereby influencing catalytic efficiency. However, it remains unknown whether SPD effects originate primarily from electrostatic perturbation inside the enzyme or can independently mediate catalysis with a significant non-electrostatic component. In this work, we investigated how the non-electrostatic component of SPD affects transition state (TS) stabilization. Using high-throughput enzyme modeling, we selected Kemp eliminase variants with similar electrostatics inside the enzyme but significantly different SPD. The kinetic parameters of these mutants were experimentally characterized. We observed a valley-shaped, two-segment linear correlation between the TS stabilization free energy (converted from kinetic parameters) and substrate positioning index (a metric to quantify SPD). The energy varies by approximately 2 kcal/mol. Favorable SPD was observed for the distal mutant R154W, increasing the proportion of reactive conformations and leading to the lowest activation free energy. These results indicate the substantial contribution of the non-electrostatic component of SPD to enzyme catalytic efficiency.

Abstract
This paper introduces a novel method for enhancing underground pipeline inspection, specifically addressing limitations associated with traditional closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems. These systems, commonly used for capturing visual data of sewer system deformations, heavily rely on subjective human expertise, leading to limited accuracy in detection. Furthermore, their inability to perform quantitative analyses of deformation extent hampers overall inspection effectiveness. Our proposed method leverages laser point cloud data and employs a 3D scanner for objective detection of geometric deformations in underground pipe corridors. By utilizing this approach, we enable a quantitative assessment of blockage levels, offering a significant improvement over traditional CCTV-based methods. The key advantages of our method lie in its objectivity and quantification capabilities, ultimately enhancing detection reliability, accuracy, and overall inspection efficiency.

Abstract
RATIONALE & OBJECTIVE Smoking is a modifiable risk factor for various adverse events. However, little is known about the association of smoking with the incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI) in the general population. This study investigated the association of cigarette smoking with the risk of AKI. STUDY DESIGN Prospective observational study. SETTING & PARTICIPANTS 14,571 participants (mean age 55±6 years, 55% women, and 25% Black participants) from the ARIC study visit 1 (1987-1989) followed through December 31, 2019. EXPOSURE Smoking parameters (status, duration, pack-years, intensity, and years since cessation). OUTCOME Incident hospitalization with AKI, defined by a hospital discharge with a diagnostic code relevant to AKI. ANALYTICAL APPROACH Multivariable Cox regression models. RESULTS Over a median follow-up period of 26.3 years, 2,984 participants had an incident hospitalization with AKI. Current and former smokers had a significantly higher risk of AKI compared to never smokers after adjusting for potential confounders (HR, 2.22 [95% CI, 2.02-2.45] and 1.12 [1.02-1.23], respectively). A dose-response association was consistently seen for each of smoking duration, pack-years, and intensity with AKI (eg, HR, 1.19 [95% CI, 1.16-1.22] per 10 years of smoking). When years since cessation were considered as a time-varying exposure, the risk of AKI associated with smoking compared with current smokers began to decrease after 10 years, and became similar to never smokers at 30 years (HR for≥30 years, 1.07 [95% CI, 0.97-1.20] vs never smokers). LIMITATIONS Self-reported smoking measurements and missing outpatient AKI cases. CONCLUSIONS In a community-based cohort, all smoking parameters were robustly associated with the risk of AKI. Smoking cessation was associated with decreased risk of AKI, although the excess risk lasted up to 30 years. Our study supports the importance of preventing smoking initiation and promoting smoking cessation for the risk of AKI. PLAIN-LANGUAGE SUMMARY Smoking is a behavior that is associated with many negative health effects. It is not well understood how smoking relates to the occurrence of acute kidney injury (AKI) in the community. In this study, we looked at data from a group of 14,571 adults who were followed for 26 years to see how different aspects of smoking (such as whether someone smoked, how long they smoked for, how many cigarettes they smoked per day, and whether they quit smoking) were related to AKI. We found that smoking was strongly linked to an increased risk of AKI. This risk decreased after 5-10 years of quitting smoking, but the excess risk lasted up to 30 years. This study shows the importance of preventing people from starting smoking and to encourage smokers to quit to reduce their risk of AKI.

Abstract
Preadipocytes become mature adipocytes after proliferation and differentiation, and although many genes and microRNAs have been identified in intramuscular fat, their physiological function and regulatory mechanisms remain largely unexplored. miR-26a-5p has been reported to be related to fat deposition, but its effect on porcine preadipocyte differentiation has not been explored. In this study, bioinformatics analysis and luciferase reporter assay identified that miR-26a-5p binds to the 3'UTR of Acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 3 (ACSL3) mRNA. The model for porcine intramuscular preadipocyte differentiation was established to explore the function of miR-6a-5p-ACSL3 on adipocyte differentiation. ACSL3 knockdown markedly reduced the triglycerides (TG) content of cells, as well as the mRNA levels of adipogenic marker genes (PPAR-γ and SREBP-1c). The number of lipid droplets in cells transfected with a miR-26a-5p mimic is significantly reduced, consistent with ACSL3 knockdown results, while the miR-26a-5p inhibitor resulted in opposite results. Taken together, miR-26a-5p is a repressor of porcine preadipocyte differentiation and plays a vital role in ACSL3-mediated adipogenesis.
