Abstract
The objective of this retrospective cohort study was to assess the relationship between Corona Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and Secukinumab treatment in patients with Spondylarthritis (SpA) in China during the omicron surge. Researchers retrieved 1018 medical records of Secukinumab-treated patients between January 2020 and January 2023 from the West China Hospital of Sichuan University. Out of these, 190 SpA patients from the rheumatology clinic were selected for the study. Guided phone questionnaires were administered by research staff to collect baseline characteristics, SpA disease status, and COVID-19 clinical outcomes. Cohabitants served as the control group and provided COVID-19 related data. Of the 190 potential SpA patients, 122 (66%) completed the questionnaire via phone, along with 259 cohabitants. 84.4% of SpA patients were diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS), and 15.6% were diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA). The rate of SARS-CoV-2 infection was 83.6% in the Secukinumab group and 88.8% in the cohabitants control group, with no significant difference (OR = 0.684, CI 0.366-1.275). One instance of severe COVID-19 was observed in the Secukinumab group, while two were identified in the cohabitants control group. Patients in the Secukinumab group had less time with fever caused by COVID-19 (p = 0.004). Discontinuing Secukinumab after SARS-CoV-2 infection did not significantly affect the course of COVID-19 or worsen SpA status according to our data. Our study suggests that administering Secukinumab to SpA patients does not increase their susceptibility to contracting SARS-CoV-2, and may have a positive effect on the course of SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has brought a heavy burden to the world, interestingly, it shares many clinical symptoms with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). It is unclear whether there is a similar pathological process between COVID-9 and SLE. In addition, we don't know how to treat SLE patients with COVID-19. In this study, we analyse the potential similar pathogenesis between SLE and COVID-19 and explore their possible drug regimens using bioinformatics and systems biology approaches. METHODS The common differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were extracted from the COVID-19 datasets and the SLE datasets for functional enrichment, pathway analysis and candidate drug analysis. RESULT Based on the two transcriptome datasets between COVID-19 and SLE, 325 common DEGs were selected. Hub genes were identified by protein-protein interaction (PPI) analysis. few found a variety of similar functional changes between COVID-19 and SLE, which may be related to the pathogenesis of COVID-19. Besides, we explored the related regulatory networks. Then, through drug target matching, we found many candidate drugs for patients with COVID-19 only or COVID-19 combined with SLE. CONCLUSION COVID-19 and SLE patients share many common hub genes, related pathways and regulatory networks. Based on these common targets, we found many potential drugs that could be used in treating patient with COVID-19 or COVID-19 combined with SLE.

Abstract
Liver cancer stem cells were found to rely on glycolysis as the preferred metabolic program. Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase 1 (PCK1), a gluconeogenic metabolic enzyme, is down-regulated in hepatocellular carcinoma and is closely related to poor prognosis. The oncogenesis and progression of tumors are closely related to cancer stem cells. It is not completely clear whether the PCK1 deficiency increases the stemness of hepatoma cells and promotes the oncogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma. Herein, the results showed that PCK1 inhibited the self-renewal property of hepatoma cells, reduced the mRNA level of cancer stem cell markers, and inhibited tumorigenesis. Moreover, PCK1 increased the sensitivity of hepatocellular carcinoma cells to sorafenib. Furthermore, we found that PCK1 activated the Hippo pathway by enhancing the phosphorylation of YAP and inhibiting its nuclear translocation. Verteporfin reduced the stemness of hepatoma cells and promoted the pro-apoptotic effect of sorafenib. Thus, combined treatment with verteporfin and sorafenib may be a potential anti-tumor strategy in hepatocellular carcinoma.

Abstract
Objectives Emerging evidence indicates that the composition of movement behaviours within a 24-h period is associated with multiple health benefits across the lifespan. A concept that emphasises an individual's active lifestyle is physical literacy (PL), yet empirical research exploring the potential associations between PL and 24-h movement guidelines remains scarce. This study aimed to evaluate the associations between levels of PL and adherence to the guidelines among Chinese university students. Study design A cross-sectional study. Methods Seven hundred and ninety-eight university students (390 male, 19.2 ± 1.2 years) completed all the measurements. Levels of PL and participants' adherence to guidelines including physical activity, sedentary behaviour and sleep were self-reported through Perceived Physical Literacy Instrument, International Physical Activity Questionnaire and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, respectively. Two-way ANOVA was conducted to determine the associations between the number of guidelines met (0, 1, 2, or 3) and levels of PL. Results The results demonstrate that 36.5% (n = 291) of the participants met all the three guidelines, while 4.1% (n = 33) met none. Further analysis indicated that meeting physical activity or sedentary behaviour guidelines was associated with significantly higher total PL scores, and scores in the sub-domains of Confidence and Physical Competence and Motivation. Conclusions The findings provide evidence that young adults who obtained higher PL scores may meet more guidelines during a 24-h period. Future studies should incorporate accelerometer-based physical activity measurements and investigate the causal relationship between PL and adherence to the movement guidelines.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patient safety is a top priority for the global healthcare system and a prerequisite for high-quality nursing care. In China, newly graduated registered nurses are required to receive two years of standardized training to ensure patient safety. The pre-service safety training program aims to provide safe, high-quality, and effective nursing care. However, perceptions and experiences of newly graduated registered nurses on pre-service safety training programs have not yet been explored. OBJECTIVES To investigate newly graduated registered nurses' perceptions and experiences of the pre-service safety training program in a tertiary hospital in China. DESIGN A phenomenological approach was used for this qualitative study. SETTINGS Tertiary hospital in Shanghai, China. PARTICIPANTS A total of 19 newly graduated registered nurses who participated in the pre-service safety training program. METHODS Data were collected using semi-structured, face-to-face, in-depth interviews and analyzed using the Colaizzi seven-step framework. RESULTS Three themes and nine sub-themes emerged: (1) satisfaction with the approaches and content of the training, (2) gaining benefits and growth, and (3) suggestions for the training. CONCLUSION It is meaningful for newly graduated registered nurses to receive safety training before entering clinical practice and was praised by participants for helping them improve safety competence and change safety behaviors. Continuing safety training and optimizing the training modules and evaluation methods will maximize the effectiveness of safety training.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Prenatal depression, associated with adverse effects on mothers and fetuses, has received little attention. We conducted a large-sample study to investigate the risk factors of, and develop a predictive model for, prenatal depression in the Chinese population. METHODS This study enrolled 14,329 pregnant women who delivered at the West China Second University Hospital, Sichuan University from January 2017 to December 2020. Participants were divided into a training or validation cohort. Multiple variables were collected and selected using univariate logistic regression and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator penalty regression. After multivariate logistic analysis, a predictive model was developed and validated internally and externally. RESULTS Nine variables (employment, planned pregnancy, pregnancy number, conception methods, gestational diabetes mellitus, twin pregnancy, placenta previa, umbilical cord encirclement, and educational attainment) were identified as independent risk factors for prenatal depression. Receiver operating characteristic curves in both the training and validation cohorts showed excellent discrimination of the predictive model (the area under the curve: 0.746 and 0.732, respectively). LIMITATIONS The results of this retrospective study may be affected by confounding and information bias. Some important variables were excluded, such as family history of mental disorders. The study was conducted in China; its results may not be generalizable to other regions. CONCLUSION Our study identified nine significant risk factors for prenatal depression and constructed an accurate predictive model. This model could be applied as a clinical decision aid for individualized risk estimates and prevention of prenatal depression.

Abstract
The total bacterial count is an important indicator of food contamination in food safety supervision and management. Recently, the CRISPR/Cas12a system integrated with nucleic acid amplification has increasingly shown tremendous potential in microorganism detection. However, a general quantification strategy for total bacteria count based on the CRISPR/Cas12a system has not yet been developed. Herein, we established a sensitive bacterial quantification strategy based on the CRISPR/Cas12a system combined with magnetic covalent organic frameworks (MCOFs) and hybridization chain reaction (HCR). MCOFs acted as a carrier, adsorbing the ssDNA as HCR trigger sequence through π-π stacking. Then, the HCR circuit produces DNA duplexes containing the PAM sequences that activate the trans-cleavage activity of Cas12a for further signal amplification. Under the optimal conditions, the proposed method can quantify total bacteria in 50 min with a minimum detection concentration of 10 CFU/mL. The successful applications in food samples confirmed the feasibility and broad application prospects.

Abstract
Defect-engineered metal-organic frameworks (DEMOFs) are emerging advanced materials. The construction of DEMOFs is of great significance; however, DEMOF-based catalysis remains unexplored. (E)-vinylboronates, an important building block for asymmetric synthesis, can be synthesized via the hydroboration of alkynes. However, the lack of high-performance catalysts considerably hinders their synthesis. Herein, a series of DEHKUST-1 (HKUST = Hong Kong University of Science and Technology) (Da-f) catalysts with missing occupation of linkers at Cu nodes were designed by partially replacing benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylate (H3BTC) with defective connectors of pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylate (PYDC) to efficiently promote the hydroboration of alkynes. Results showed that the Dd containing 0.8 doping ratio of PYDC exhibited remarkable catalytic activity than the defect-free HKUST-1. This originated from the improved accessibility for reactants towards the Lewis acid active Cu sites of DEHKUST-1 due to the presence of plenty of rooms next to the Cu sites and enhanced coordination ability in such 'defective' HKUST-1. Dd had high selectivity (>99 %) and yield (>96 %) for (E)-vinylboronates and extensive functional group compatibility for terminal alkynes. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed to elucidate the mechanism of hydroboration. Compared with that of defect-free HKUST-1, the low energy barrier of DEHKUST-1 can be attributed to the lower coordination number of Cu sites and enhanced accessibility of Cu active sites towards reagents.

Abstract
Cuprous oxide (Cu2O) is proven as an excellent anti-harmful microbial material. However, the liquid and vapor pha5se preparation methods reported so far hardly make pure Cu2O-containing composites and suffer environmental issues caused by chemical reducing agents with multiple processing steps. This work develops a facile one-pot solid-state sintering method to synthesize Cu2O/microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) composite via the thermal decomposition and oxidation-reduction reactions where copper formate was reduced by MCC. The Cu2O/MCC composite exhibits superior purity, dispersibility, stability, high yield, and high efficacy of antibacterial and antiviral properties, e.g., against E. coli, S. aureus, and Equine Arteritis Viral. This work utilizes elegantly the strong reducing capability of cellulose to develop an environmentally benign method to prepare high-purity Cu2O-polymer composites with low cytotoxicity and cost, which can be incorporated readily into other substrate materials to form various forms of anti-harmful microbial materials widely used in public health care products. In addition, the preparation of Cu2O-containing composites based on the reducing capability of cellulose is also expected to be applied to other cellulose-based materials for the loading of Cu2O particles.

Abstract
Chlorinated polyfluorinated ether sulfonate (Cl-PFESA), a substitute for perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), has been widely used in the Chinese electroplating industry under the trade name F-53B. The production and use of F-53B is keep increasing in recent years, consequently causing more emissions into the environment. Thus, there is a growing concern about the adverse effects of F-53B on human health. However, related research is very limited, particularly in terms of its toxicity to the vascular system. In this study, C57BL/6 J mice were exposed to 0.04, 0.2, and 1 mg/kg F-53B for 12 weeks to assess its impact on the vascular system. We found that F-53B exposure caused aortic wall thickening, collagen deposition, and reduced elasticity in mice. In addition, F-53B exposure led to a loss of vascular endothelial integrity and a vascular inflammatory response. Intercellular cell adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) and vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1) were found to be indispensable for this process. Furthermore, RNA sequencing analysis revealed that F-53B can decrease the repair capacity of endothelial cells by inhibiting their proliferation and migration. Collectively, our findings demonstrate that F-53B exposure induces vascular inflammation and loss of endothelial integrity as well as suppresses the repair capacity of endothelial cells, which ultimately results in vascular injury, highlighting the need for a more thorough risk assessment of F-53B to human health.

Abstract
316L stainless steel (SS) is widely applied as microimplant anchorage (MIA) due to its excellent mechanical properties. However, the risk that the oral microorganisms can corrode 316L SS is fully neglected. Microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) of 316L SS is essential to the health and safety of all patients because the accelerated corrosion caused by the oral microbiota can trigger the release of Cr and Ni ions. This study investigated the corrosion behavior and mechanism of subgingival microbiota on 316L SS by 16S rRNA and metagenome sequencing, electrochemical measurements, and surface characterization techniques. Multispecies biofilms were formed by the oral subgingival microbiota in the simulated oral anaerobic environment on 316L SS surfaces, significantly accelerating the corrosion in the form of pitting. The microbiota samples collected from the subjects differed in biofilm compositions, corrosion behaviors, and mechanisms. The oral subgingival microbiota contributed to the accelerated corrosion of 316L SS via acidic metabolites and extracellular electron transfer. Our findings provide a new insight into the underlying mechanisms of oral microbial corrosion and guide the design of oral microbial corrosion-resistant materials.

Abstract
Low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) has been widely concerned in the field of medical imaging because of its low radiation hazard to humans. However, under low-dose radiation scenarios, a large amount of noise/artifacts are present in the reconstructed image, which reduces the clarity of the image and is not conducive to diagnosis. To improve the LDCT image quality, we proposed a combined frequency separation network and Transformer (FSformer) for LDCT denoising. Firstly, FSformer decomposes the LDCT images into low-frequency images and multi-layer high-frequency images by frequency separation blocks. Then, the low-frequency components are fused with the high-frequency components of different layers to remove the noise in the high-frequency components with the help of the potential texture of low-frequency parts. Next, the estimated noise images can be obtained by using Transformer stage in the frequency aggregation denoising block. Finally, they are fed into the reconstruction prediction block to obtain improved quality images. In addition, a compound loss function with frequency loss and Charbonnier loss is used to guide the training of the network. The performance of FSformer has been validated and evaluated on AAPM Mayo dataset, real Piglet dataset and clinical dataset. Compared with previous representative models in different architectures, FSformer achieves the optimal metrics with PSNR of 33.7714 dB and SSIM of 0.9254 on Mayo dataset, the testing time is 1.825 s. The experimental results show that FSformer is a state-of-the-art (SOTA) model with noise/artifact suppression and texture/organization preservation. Moreover, the model has certain robustness and can effectively improve LDCT image quality.

Abstract
Blood-containing mixtures are frequently encountered at crime scenes involving violence and murder. However, the presence of blood, and the association of blood with a specific donor within these mixtures present significant challenges in forensic analysis. In light of these challenges, this study sought to address these issues by leveraging blood-specific methylation sites and closely linked microhaplotype sites, proposing a novel composite genetic marker known as "blood-specific methylation-microhaplotype". This marker was designed to the detection of blood and the determination of blood donor within blood-containing mixtures. According to the selection criteria mentioned in the Materials and Methods section, we selected 10 blood-specific methylation-microhaplotype loci for inclusion in this study. Among these loci, eight exhibited blood-specific hypomethylation, while the remaining two displayed blood-specific hypermethylation. Based on data obtained from 124 individual samples in our study, the combined discrimination power (CPD) of these 10 successfully sequenced loci was 0.999999298. The sample allele methylation rate (Ram) was obtained from massive parallel sequencing (MPS), which was defined as the proportion of methylated reads to the total clustered reads that were genotyped to a specific allele. To develop an allele type classification model capable of identifying the presence of blood and the blood donor, we used the Random Forest algorithm. This model was trained and evaluated using the Ram distribution of individual samples and the Ram distribution of simulated shared alleles. Subsequently, we applied the developed allele type classification model to predict alleles within actual mixtures, trying to exclude non-blood-specific alleles, ultimately allowing us to identify the presence of blood and the blood donor in the blood-containing mixtures. Our findings demonstrate that these blood-specific methylation-microhaplotype loci have the capability to not only detect the presence of blood but also accurately associate blood with the true donor in blood-containing mixtures with the mixing ratios of 1:29, 1:19, 1:9, 1:4, 1:2, 2:1, 7:1, 8:1, 31:1 and 36:1 (blood:non-blood) by DNA mixture interpretation methods. In addition, the presence of blood and the true blood donor could be identified in a mixture containing four body fluids (blood:vaginal fluid:semen:saliva = 1:1:1:1). It is important to note that while these loci exhibit great potential, the impact of allele dropouts and alleles misidentification must be considered when interpreting the results. This is a preliminary study utilising blood-specific methylation-microhaplotype as a complementary tool to other well-established genetic markers (STR, SNP, microhaplotype, etc.) for the analysis in blood-containing mixtures.

Abstract
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are known to be linked with dyslipidemia. Between March and June 2022, we collected 575 fasting serum samples from individuals without occupational exposure in Jinan, China. Eighteen PFASs were analyzed using UHPLC-Orbitrap MS. Multiple linear regression (MLR), Bayesian kernel machine regression (BKMR), and Quantile g-computation (QGC) models were utilized to assess the effects of both individual PFAS and PFAS mixtures on serum lipid levels, including triglycerides (TG), cholesterol (CHO), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), and low-density lipoprotein (LDL). The PFAS mixture, composed of perfluoroheptanoic acid (PFHpA), perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA), perfluorodecanoic acid (PFDA), perfluoroundecanoic acid (PFUnDA), perfluorododecanoic acid (PFDoDA), perfluorotridecanoic acid (PFTrDA), perfluorohexane sulfonate (PFHxS), perfluoroheptane sulfonic acid (PFHpS), perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), and 6:2 chlorinated polyfluoroalkyl ether sulfonate (6:2 Cl-PFESA), showed a positive association with CHO and LDL levels, while no distinct trend was noted in HDL and TG levels about changes in PFAS mixtures levels in BKMR and QGC models, adjusted for gender, age, BMI, occupation, and educational level. The effects of individual PFASs on lipid levels were in general consistent across MLR, BKMR and QGC models. PFUnDA and PFTrDA demonstrated greater impacts on blood lipid levels compared to other PFAS, albeit with varied directional effects. Age-stratified analysis revealed PFAS mixture effect was more pronounced in participants aged higher than 40. No obvious trend in lipid levels with changes in PFAS mixture levels in participants with age ranged from 18 to 40, while positive association between PFAS mixture and CHO and LDL was detected in participants aged higher than 40.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Primary Sjogren's syndrome (pSS) is an autoimmune disease of the exocrine glands with no specific or efficient treatments. Melatonin, a natural hormone, is revealed to show multiple biological functions, both receptor-dependent and independent effects, including anti-apoptotic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory activities. However, the potential mechanism by which melatonin protects salivary glands (SGs) of pSS from damage needs to be clarified. The purpose of current study was to explore the role and receptor-related mechanisms of melatonin in pSS-induced glandular damage. METHODS AND RESULTS NOD/Ltj mice were used to spontaneously mimic pSS-induced glandular hypofunction in vivo and primary human salivary gland epithelial (HSGE) cells were stimulated by interferon-γ (IFN-γ) to mimic pSS-induced inflammation in SGs cells in vitro. Melatonin-treated mice exhibited a significant reduction in SG injury of NOD/Ltj mice, which was accompanied by an increase in salivary flow rate, a decrease in inflammatory infiltration within the gland, and a suppression of oxidative stress indicators as well as cell apoptosis. Notably, both melatonin membrane receptors and nuclear receptors played an important role in the anti-apoptotic effects of melatonin on the SGs of NOD/Ltj mice. Furthermore, melatonin blocked the IL-6/STAT3 pathway through receptor-dependent manners in IFN-γ-stimulated HSGE cells. However, it was evident that the anti-oxidative and anti-apoptotic properties of melatonin on IFN-γ-stimulated HSGE cells were diminished by IL-6 treatment. CONCLUSION Melatonin had the potential to mitigate inflammation, oxidative stress, and apoptosis in SGs of pSS by inhibiting the IL-6/STAT3 pathway through receptor-dependent mechanisms. This intervention effectively prevented glandular damage and preserved functional integrity.

Abstract
AIMS To identify studies and the content of the interventions that have facilitated the implementation of pressure injury (PI) prevention measures in nursing home settings. DESIGN AND METHOD A scoping review methodology was employed. The author has carried out the following steps successively: Identified this scoping review's questions, retrieved potentially relevant studies, selected relevant studies, charted the data, summarised the results, and consulted with stakeholders from nursing homes in China. DATA SOURCES Six electronic databases and three resources of grey literature-PubMed, CINAHL, Web of Science Core Collection, Embase, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Psych INFO, Open Grey, MedNar, ProQuest Dissertations, and Theses Full Texts were searched from January 2002 through May 2022. RESULTS Forty articles were included, among which the primary interventions were quality improvement, training and education, evidence-based practice, device-assisted PI prophylaxis, nursing protocols, and clinical decision support systems. Twenty-three outcome indicators were summarised in 40 articles, which included 10 outcome indicators, seven process indicators, and six structural indicators. Furthermore, only five articles reported barriers in the process of implementing interventions. CONCLUSION The common interventions to promote the implementation of PI prevention measures in nursing homes are quality improvement, training, and education. Relatively limited research has been conducted on evidence-based practice, clinical decision support systems, device-assisted PI prophylaxis, and nursing protocols. In addition, there is a paucity of studies examining the impediments to implementing these measures and devising targeted solutions. Therefore, it is recommended that future studies include analysis and reporting of barriers and facilitators as part of the article to improve the sustainability of the intervention. IMPACT This article reminds nursing home managers that they should realise the importance of implementation strategies between the best evidence of PI prevention and clinical practice. Also, this review provides the types, contents, and outcome indicators of these strategies for managers of nursing homes to consider what types of interventions to implement in their organisations. TRIAL AND PROTOCOL REGISTRATION The protocol of this scoping review was published as an open-access article in June 2022 (Yang et al., 2022).

Abstract
The soft and hard tissue healing of open wounds in immediate implant placement are yet to be explored. The aim of this study was to compare the clinical outcomes of open wound healing using reactive soft tissue (RST) and absorbable collagen sponge (ACS). Forty implants placed immediately in posterior sockets were included; autologous RST was used in 20 and ACS substitute was used in 20. Soft tissue healing was primarily assessed through a novel scoring system and the evaluation of gingival recession. The horizontal bone width (HBW) and interproximal marginal bone level (MBL) were measured on radiographs to observe the hard tissue healing. No significant difference in total soft tissue healing score was observed at 2 weeks postoperatively. Notably, the ACS group showed better tissue colour (P = 0.016) but worse fibrous repair (P = 0.043) scores than the RST group. Gingival recession levels were comparable in the two groups, both before tooth extraction and after placement of the restoration. Regarding hard tissue, HBW and MBL changes showed no intergroup differences. Within the limitations of this study, both RST and ACS seemed effective for open wound closure, achieving ideal soft and hard tissue healing in immediate implant placement.

Abstract
Age-related hearing loss (ARHL) is the most common sensory disorder associated with human aging. Chronic inflammation is supposed to be an important contributor to ARHL. Yet, the underlying mechanisms of developing cochlear inflammation are still not well understood. In this study, we found that the inflammation, endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and necroptosis signalings are activated in the cochlea of aged C57BL/6 mice. ER stress activator tunicamycin (TM) induced necroptosis in cochlear HEI-OC1 cells and cochlear explants, while necroptosis inhibitors protected cochlear cells from ER stress-induced cell death. The antioxidants inhibited necroptosis and protected HEI-OC1 cells from TM insults. Necroptotic HEI-OC1 cells promoted the activation of the co-cultured macrophages via Myd88 signaling. Moreover, necroptosis inhibitor protected from TM-induced hearing loss, and inhibited inflammation in C57BL/6 mice. These findings suggest that ER stress-induced necroptosis promotes cochlear inflammation and hearing loss. Targeting necroptosis serves as a potential approach for the treatment of cochlear inflammation and ARHL.

Abstract
Proteins from the C1q domain-containing (C1qDC) family recognize self-, non-self-, and altered-self ligands and serves as an initiator molecule for the classical complement pathway as well as recognizing immune complexes. In this study, C1qDC gene family members were identified and analyzed in grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idellus). Members of the C1q subfamily were cloned, and their response to infection with the grass carp virus was investigated. In the grass carp genome, 54 C1qDC genes and 67 isoforms have been identified. Most were located on chromosome 3, with 52 shared zebrafish homologies. Seven substantially differentially expressed C1qDC family genes were identified in the transcriptomes of cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cells infected with grass carp reovirus (GCRV), all of which exhibited sustained upregulation. The opening reading frames of grass carp C1qA, C1qB, and C1qC, belonging to the C1q subfamily, were determined to be 738, 732, and 735 base pairs, encoding 245, 243, and 244 amino acids with molecular weights of 25.81 kDa, 25.63 kDa and 26.16 kDa, respectively. Three genes were detected in the nine collected tissues, and their expression patterns were similar, with the highest expression levels observed in the spleen. In vivo after GCRV infection showed expression trends of C1qA, C1qB, and C1qC in the liver, spleen, and kidney. An N-type pattern in the liver and kidney was characterized by an initial increase followed by a decrease, with the highest expression occurring during the recovering period, and a V-type pattern in the spleen with the lowest expression levels during the death period. In vitro, after GCRV infection showed expression trends of C1qA, C1qB, and C1qC, and this gradually increased within the first 24 h, with a notable increase observed at the 24 h time point. After CIK cells incubation with purified recombinant proteins, rC1qA, rC1qB, and rC1qC for 3 h, followed by GCRV inoculation, the GCRV replication indicated that rC1qC exerted a substantial inhibitory effect on viral replication in CIK cells after 24 h of GCRV inoculation. These findings offer valuable insights into the structure, evolution, and function of the C1qDC family genes and provide a foundational understanding of the immune function of C1q in grass carp.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine the effective and safe intravenous doses of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs)-derived microvesicles (MVs) and to elucidate the possible causes of death in mice receiving high-dose MVs. METHODS MVs were isolated from human MSCs by gradient centrifugation. Mice with collagen-induced arthritis were treated with different doses of intravenous MVs or MSCs. Arthritis severity, white blood cell count, and serum C-reactive protein levels were measured. To assess the safety profile of MSCs and MVs, mice were treated with different doses of MSCs and MVs, and LD50 was calculated. Mouse lungs and heart were assessed by live fluorescence imaging, histopathological measurements, and immunohistochemistry to explore the possible causes of death. Serum concentrations of cTnT, cTnI, and CK-MB were determined by ELISA. With the H9C2 cardiomyocyte cell line, cellular uptake of MVs was observed using confocal microscopy and cell toxicity was assessed by CCK-8 and flow cytometry. RESULTS Intravenous treatment with MSCs and MVs alleviated inflammatory arthritis, while high doses of MSCs and MVs were lethal. Mice receiving a maximum dose of MSCs (0.1 mL of MSCs at 109/mL) died immediately, while mice receiving a maximum dose of MVs (0.1 mL of MVs at 1012/mL) exhibited tears, drooling, tachycardia, shortness of breath, unbalanced rollover, bouncing, circular crawling, mania, and death. Some mice died after exhibiting convulsions and other symptoms. All mice died shortly after injecting the maximum dose of MSCs. Histologically, mice receiving high doses of MSCs frequently developed pulmonary embolism, while those receiving high doses of MVs died of myocardial infarction. Consistently, the serum levels of cTnT, cTnI, and CK-MB were significantly increased in the MVs-treated group (P < 0.05). The LD50 of intravenous MVs was 1.60 × 1012/kg. Further, MVs could enter the cell. High doses of MVs induced cell apoptosis, though low concentrations of MVs induced cell proliferation. CONCLUSIONS Appropriate dosages of MVs and MSCs are effective treatments for inflammatory arthritis while MVs and MSCs overdose is unsafe by causing cardiopulmonary complications.

Abstract
Zn metal anode is confronted with notorious Zn dendrite growth caused by inhomogeneous Zn2+ deposition, rampant dendrite growth, and serious interface side reactions, which significantly hinder their large-scale implication. Interface modification engineering is a powerful strategy to improve the Zn metal anode by regulating Zn2+ deposition behavior, suppressing dendrite formation, and protecting the anode from electrolyte corrosion. Herein, we have designed a high-strength and superior-electrolyte-wettability composite gel protective layer based on silk fibroin (SF) and ionic liquids (ILs) on the Zn anode surface by a straightforward spin-coating strategy. The Zn ion transport kinetics and mechanical properties were further improved by following the incubation process to construct a more well-ordered β-sheet structure. Consequently, the incubated composite gel coating serves as a command station, guiding the Zn ion's preferential growth along the (002) plane, resulting in a smooth and uniform deposition morphology. Driven by these improvements, the zinc anode modified with this composite gel exhibits a remarkably long-term cycling lifespan up to 2200 h at 2 mA cm-2, while also displaying superior rate capability. This study represents a landmark achievement in the realm of electrochemical science, delineating a clear pathway toward the realization of a highly reversible and enduring Zn anode.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is closely related to the dynamic balance and stability of mandibular function and orthodontic treatment. Skeletal class II female patients are thought to be at high risk for TMJ disease. The relationship between the TMJ and craniofacial structures is still controversial. This study compared the morphology and position of the TMJ in skeletal class II adolescents and adults with various vertical facial types using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 117 skeletal class II patients were divided into three groups according to the FH-GoGn angle (hypodivergent, normodivergent and hyperdivergent), with 40 class I normodivergent patients serving as controls. Each group contained two age subgroups (adolescents: 11-14 years old, adults: 18-35 years old). The size (condylar length, height, long and short axis diameter, glenoid fossa width and depth) and shape (condylar neck inclination, condylar head angle and long axis angle, articular eminence inclination) of the condyle and fossa, joint space (anterior, superior, posterior, mesial and lateral), and position of the fossa (vertical, transverse, and anteroposterior distance) and condyle were measured and compared using CBCT. RESULTS Class II hypodivergent patients exhibited the greatest condylar length, height, and long- and short-axis diameter; steepest articular eminence; deepest fossa depth; largest superior, mesial and lateral joint spaces; and highest fossa position in both age groups. The manifestations of class II hyperdivergent patients were mostly the opposite. In adults, except for the condylar long axis angle, the measurements of the condyle increased differently among skeletal patterns, while the measurements of the fossa decreased, as the joint spaces and fossa position remained approximately stable compared with those in adolescents. CONCLUSION The vertical skeletal pattern, rather than the class II sagittal skeletal pattern, may be the main factor affecting the morphology and position of the TMJ. Attention should be given to the TMJ area in hyperdivergent patients with a relatively poor-fit condyle-fossa relationship. The changes in the TMJ with age were mainly morphological rather than positional and varied with skeletal pattern.

Abstract
Deep-seated bacterial infections (DBIs) are stubborn and deeply penetrate tissues. Eliminating deep-seated bacteria and promoting tissue regeneration remain great challenges. Here, a novel radical-containing hydrogel (SFT-B Gel) cross-linked by a chaotropic effect was designed for the sensing of DBIs and near-infrared photothermal therapy (NIR-II PTT). A silk fibroin solution stained with 4,4',4″-(1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triyl)tris(1-methylpyridin-1-ium) (TPT3+) was employed as the backbone, which could be cross-linked by a closo-dodecaborate cluster (B12H122-) through a chaotropic effect to form the SFT-B Gel. More interestingly, the SFT-B Gel exhibited the ability to sense DBIs, which could generate a TPT2+• radical with obvious color changes in the presence of bacteria. The radical-containing SFT-B Gel (SFT-B★ Gel) possessed strong NIR-II absorption and a remarkable photothermal effect, thus demonstrating excellent NIR-II PTT antibacterial activity for the treatment of DBIs. This work provides a new approach for the construction of intelligent hydrogels with unique properties using a chaotropic effect.

Abstract
Uniaxial pressure provides an efficient approach to control charge density waves in YBa2Cu3Oy. It can enhance the correlation volume of ubiquitous short-range two-dimensional charge-density-wave correlations, and induces a long-range three-dimensional charge density wave, otherwise only accessible at large magnetic fields. Here, we use x-ray diffraction to study the strain dependence of these charge density waves and uncover direct evidence for a form of competition between them. We show that this interplay is qualitatively described by including strain effects in a nonlinear sigma model of competing superconducting and charge-density-wave orders. Our analysis suggests that strain stabilizes the 3D charge density wave in the regions between disorder-pinned domains of 2D charge density waves, and that the two orders compete at the boundaries of these domains. No signatures of discommensurations nor of pair density waves are observed. From a broader perspective, our results underscore the potential of strain tuning as a powerful tool for probing competing orders in quantum materials.

Abstract
Background Inflammation and stress response may be related to the occurrence of sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (SA-AKI) in patients with sepsis.Insulin resistance (IR) is closely related to the stress response, inflammatory response, immune response and severity of critical diseases. We assume that the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, an alternative indicator for IR, is associated with the occurrence of SA-AKI in patients with sepsis. Methods Data were obtained from The Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care-IV(MIMIC-IV) database in this retrospective cohort study. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis and multivariate restricted cubic spline(RCS) regression were conducted to evaluate the association between TyG index and SA-AKI, length of stay (LOS). Subgroup and sensitivity analyses were performed to verify the robustness of the results. Results The study ultimately included data from 1426 patients with sepsis, predominantly of white ethnicity (59.2%) and male sex (56.4%), with an SA-AKI incidence rate of 78.5%. A significant linear association was observed between the TyG index and SA-AKI (OR, 1.40; 95% confidence interval(CI) [1.14-1.73]). Additionally, the TyG index demonstrated a significant correlation with the length of stay (LOS) in both the hospital (β, 1.79; 95% CI [0.80-2.77]) and the intensive care unit (ICU) (β, 1.30; 95% CI [0.80-1.79]). Subgroup and sensitivity analyses confirmed the robustness of these associations. Conclusion This study revealed a strong association between the TyG index and both SA-AKI and length of stay in patients with sepsis. These findings suggest that the TyG index is a potential predictor of SA-AKI and the length of hospitalization in sepsis cases, broadening its application in this context. However, further research is required to confirm whether interventions targeting the TyG index can genuinely enhance the clinical outcomes of patients with sepsis.

Abstract
This study aims to investigate the role of industrial Internet platform in facilitating the digital transformation of traditional manufacturing enterprises. While prior research has predominantly focused on industrial Internet platform enterprises, there is a noticeable dearth of research concerning traditional manufacturing enterprises lacking the resources to establish such platforms. To address this research gap, we conduct an exploratory case study and propose an affordances upgrade model that elucidates the digital business transformation process of these manufacturing enterprises leveraging industrial Internet platforms. The research findings can be summarized from two key perspectives. Firstly, the industrial Internet platform offers valuable technical support and potential opportunities for manufacturing enterprises to achieve digital business transformation through three distinct affordances: consonance, resonance, and adaptation. These affordances enable enterprises to align their operations with the capabilities and possibilities provided by the platform, thus facilitating their digital transformation. Secondly, to effectively harness these affordances, enterprises must strategically leverage the platform's technical services and systems in their production and operational practices. Through the accumulation of practical experiences, enterprises gradually transition their production modes from experience institutionalization and standardization to a state of refinement. The dynamic leapfrogging process of digital transformation in traditional manufacturing enterprises, facilitated by the industrial Internet platform, is reflected in the realization of these three affordances and their underlying resource capabilities. This research significantly contributes to the field by expanding the scope of inquiry to encompass traditional manufacturing enterprises and presenting a stage model for their digital transformation utilizing industrial Internet platform.

Abstract
Objective This research intends to explore how variations in the SMAD4 gene impact papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) among patients in China. Methods The rs10502913 and rs12968012 polymorphisms were genotyped in 405 subjects using SNP-scan high-throughput technology. Differential mRNA expression of SMAD4 was analyzed using data from TCGA and GSE33630, and protein level expression differences were analyzed using immunohistochemistry. Results The results showed that SMAD4 mRNA expression was lower in thyroid cancer (THCA) tissues than in normal tissues. Immunohistochemical results showed that the expression level of SMAD4 in normal tissue, thyroid papillary carcinoma tissue and poorly differentiated tissue was significantly different. We found that SMAD4 mismatch variants (rs10502913 and rs12968012) were associated with PTC susceptibility. Specifically, the SMAD4-rs10502913 genotypes (GA and AA) showed a notable correlation with a lower likelihood of PTC in comprehensive and segmented studies (genotype GA: OR (95% CI) = 0.270 (0.077-0.950), p = 0.041; genotype AA: OR (95% CI) = 0.103 (0.025-0.416), p = 0.001). We categorized the immunohistochemical results according to genotype and found that rs10502913-GG protein level was expressed at the lowest level, and both GA and AA were higher than GG (GG vs. AA, P < 0.05), and rs12968012-CG protein level was expressed at the lowest level, and both GG and CC were higher than CG (GG vs. CG, P < 0.01). Conclusion Two missense variants of SMAD4 (rs10502913 and rs12968012) are associated with reduced risk of papillary thyroid carcinoma, possibly by reducing protein expression leading to susceptibility to papillary thyroid carcinoma.

Abstract
Increased fructose consumption has been elucidated to contribute to metabolic diseases. Bone is a dynamic organ that undergoes constant remodeling. However, the effects of fructose on bone health are still in dispute. Here, we identified fructose deteriorated bone mineral density while promoting the abundance of bone marrow adipose tissue. Fructose remarkably promoted the bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells' (BMMSCs) adipogenic commitment at the expense of osteogenic commitment. Fructose boosted the glycolysis of BMMSCs and inhibited phosphorylation of adenosine 5'-monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK), which played a crucial role in bone-fat alteration. Our results suggested that fructose potentiated bone loss and marrow adipose tissue accumulation by suppressing AMPK activation in BMMSCs. Understanding fructose which affected bone metabolism was thus of primary importance in order to establish preventative measures or treatments for this condition.

Abstract
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from oral tissues are known as dental stem cells (DSCs). Due to their unique therapeutic niche and clinical accessibility, DSCs serve as a promising treatment option for bone defects and oral tissue regeneration. DSCs exist in a hypoxic microenvironment in vivo, which is far lower than the current 20% oxygen concentration utilized in in vitro culture. It has been widely reported that the application of an oxygen concentration less than 5% in the culture of DSCs is beneficial for preserving stemness and promoting proliferation, migration and paracrine activity. The paracrine function of DSCs involves the secretome, which includes conditioned media (CM) and soluble bioactive molecules, as well as extracellular vesicles (EVs) extracted from CM. Hypoxia can play a role in immunomodulation and angiogenesis by altering the protein or nucleic acid components in the secretory group, which enhances the therapeutic potential of DSCs. This review summarizes the biological characteristics of DSCs, the influence of hypoxia on DSCs, the impact of hypoxia on the secretory group of DSCs, and the latest progress on the use of DSCs secretory group in tissue regeneration based on hypoxia pretreatment. We highlighted the multifunctional biological effect of hypoxia culture on tissue regeneration and provided a summary of the current mechanism of hypoxia in the pretreatment of DSCs.

Abstract
Testing is more beneficial for memory retention than restudying the same content. However, the effect of the initial encoding method on the testing effect remains unclear. In this study, a classical testing effect paradigm was employed, along with event-related potentials (ERP), to investigate the electrophysiological processes underlying the effect of enactment encoding on the testing effect. Participants were randomly assigned to the Self-Performed Test (SPT) or Verbalized Test (VT) groups. Both groups underwent three stages: an initial encoding phase, an initial test phase (comprising a source memory task and a restudy task), and a final test phase. During the initial encoding phase, the SPT group encoded action phrases through enactment, while the VT group encoded information through reading. During the initial test phase, the SPT group exhibited superior recognition performance in item memory compared with the VT group. Both groups exhibited significant parietal old/new effects in the source memory task, with only the SPT group displaying parietal positivity during the restudy task. During the final test phase, the behavioral testing effect was exclusively observed in the VT group. Furthermore, the VT group displayed a more pronounced parietal positivity in the test condition compared to the restudy condition, while the parietal positivity between the two conditions was comparable in the SPT group. In summary, the absence of a final behavioral testing effect in the SPT group may be attributed to both enactment and testing primarily enhancing memory performance through recollection-based retrieval, as indicated by the parietal positivity. Consequently, the initial enactment encoding method leaves limited scope for further improvements through subsequent testing. These findings suggest that initial enactment encoding, and subsequent testing may be redundant in improving episodic memory performance.

Abstract
PURPOSE To explore a novel biopsy scheme for prostate cancer (PCa), and test the detection rate and pathological agreement of standard systematic (SB) + targeted (TB) biopsy and novel biopsy scheme. METHODS Positive needles were collected from 194 patients who underwent SB + TB (STB) followed by radical prostatectomy (RP). Our novel biopsy scheme, targeted and regional systematic biopsy (TrSB) was defined as TB + regional SB (4 SB-needles closest to the TB-needles). The McNemar test was utilized to compare the detection rate performance for clinical significant PCa (csPCa) and clinical insignificant PCa (ciPCa). Moreover, the accuracy, positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) were investigated. The agreement between the different biopsy schemes grade group (GG) and RP GG were assessed. The concordance between the biopsy and the RP GG was evaluated using weighted κ coefficient analyses. RESULTS In this study, the overall detection rate for csPCa was 83.5% (162 of 194) when SB and TB were combined. TrSB showed better NPV than TB (97.0% vs. 74.4%). Comparing to STB, the TB-detection rate of csPCa had a significant difference (p < 0.01), while TrSB showed no significant difference (p > 0.999). For ciPCa, the overall detection rate was 16.5% (32 of 194). TrSB showed better PPV (96.6% vs. 83.3%) and NPV (97.6% vs. 92.9%) than TB. Comparing to STB, the detection rate of both schemes showed no significant difference (p = 0.077 and p = 0.375). All three schemes GG showed poor agreement with RP GG (TB: 43.3%, TrSB: 46.4%, STB: 45.9%). Using weighted κ, all three schemes showed no difference (TB: 0.48, TrSB: 0.51, STB: 0.51). In our subgroup analysis (PI-RADS = 4/5, n = 154), all three schemes almost showed no difference (Weighted κ: TB-0.50, TrSB-0.51, STB-0.50). CONCLUSION Our novel biopsy scheme TrSB (TB + 4 closest SB needles) may reduce 8 cores of biopsy compared with STB (standard SB + TB), which also showed better csPCa detection rate than TB only, but the same as STB. The pathological agreement between three different biopsy schemes (TB/TrSB/STB) GG and RP GG showed no difference.

Abstract
In recent years, with the acceleration of industrialization, the decline of male fertility caused by heavy metal pollution has attracted much attention. However, whether the inhibition of testicular function after cadmium exposure is reversible remains to be studied. In this study, we constructed rat models of cadmium exposure and dis-exposure, and collected relative samples to observe the changes of related indicators. The results showed that cadmium exposure could reduce the fertility, inhibit the hypothalamic-pituitary-testis axis and activate hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis function, the testicular GR/PI3K-AKT/AMPK signal was abnormal, cell proliferation was inhibited and apoptosis was enhanced. Four weeks after the exposure was stopped, the fertility was still decreased, testicular testosterone synthesis and spermatogenesis were inhibited, cell proliferation was inhibited and apoptosis was enhanced, but all of them were reversed. After eight weeks of cadmium exposure, the above indicators were observed to return to normal. At the same time, by giving different concentrations of corticosterone to spermatogonium, we confirmed that corticosterone may regulate the proliferation and apoptosis of spermatogonium through GR/PI3K-AKT/AMPK signal. In this study, the reproductive toxicity of cadmium, a metal environmental pollutant, was analyzed in depth to provide a new theoretical and experimental basis for ensuring male reproductive health.

Abstract
Monitoring joystick operations in power wheelchairs (PWCs) is promising for investigating user-wheelchair interaction and providing quantitative measures to assess the user's driving performance. In this paper, an add-on measurement system, Power Wheelchair Maneuvering Logger (PWhML), is developed to provide an easy-to-implement and cost-effective solution for monitoring the user's joystick operations in PWCs. The proposed system uses two compact inertial measurement units (IMUs), which are respectively attached to the joystick and wheelchair armrest for movement sensing. A coordinate transformation-based method is proposed to estimate the joystick operating angles using the acceleration data measured by the attached IMUs. The accuracy of the proposed method was thoroughly evaluated under different conditions. The evaluation trials in a stationary PWC reported a mean absolute error (MAE) of 0.59° in the forward/backward direction and 0.64° in the leftward/rightward direction, validating the established geometry model for coordinate transformation. The subsequent driving experiments on outdoor test courses demonstrated the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method in various terrain conditions (MAE of less than 3°). A clustering analysis based on the t-distributed stochastic neighborhood embedding method correctly categorized different driving activities using the joystick operating angles measured by PWhML. These results indicate that integrating the developed PWhML into PWCs can facilitate a quantitative measurement of the user's driving behavior, providing valuable insights to identify careless operation patterns and help PWC users to improve driving performance.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To observe the efficacy of acupuncture for reducing the south to reinforce the north on executive function, sleep structure and sleep quality in patients with chronic insomnia disorder of heart-kidney disharmony. METHODS A total of 100 patients with chronic insomnia disorder of heart-kidney disharmony were randomized into an acupuncture group (50 cases, 1 case dropped out) and a western medication group (50 cases, 2 cases dropped out). Acupuncture for reducing the south to reinforce the north was applied at Baihui (GV 20) and bilateral Shenmen (HT 7), Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Shenmai (BL 62), Zhaohai (KI 6), Xinshu (BL 15), Shenshu (BL 23) in the acupuncture group, once a day, 5 days a week. Lorazepam tablet was given orally in the western medication group, 0.5-1 mg a time, once a day. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks. The Stroop color-word test (SCWT) indexes (the time consuming and the correct number of card A, B, C and the Stroop interference effect [SIE]), sleep structure indexes (total sleep time [TST], sleep latency [SL], wake after sleep onset [WASO], sleep efficiency [SE], non-rapid eye movement period 1 [N1], non-rapid eye movement period 2 [N2], non-rapid eye movement period 3 [N3], rapid eye movement period [REM]) and Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) score were observed before and after treatment in the two groups. RESULTS After treatment, the time consuming of card B and C, the time consuming and the correct number of SIE, SL, WASO, N1, N2, as well as the sub-item scores and total score of PSQI were decreased (P<0.05, P<0.01), the correct number of card A, B and C, TST, SE, N3 and REM were increased (P<0.01) compared with those before treatment in the acupuncture group; the time consuming of card C and SIE, the correct number of card A and SIE, TST, SE, REM were increased (P<0.05, P<0.01), SL, WASO, N1, as well as the sub-item scores of sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep duration, sleep efficiency, daytime function and total score of PSQI were decreased (P<0.01) compared with those before treatment in the western medication group. After treatment, in the acupuncture group, the time consuming of card C, the time consuming and the correct number of SIE, N1, N2, as well as the sub-item scores of sleep quality, sleep dysfunction, daytime function and total score of PSQI were lower than those in the western medication group (P<0.01), the correct number of card B and C, N3, REM were higher than those in the western medication group (P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS Acupuncture for reducing the south to reinforce the north can improve the executive function of patients with chronic insomnia disorder of heart-kidney disharmony, adjust the sleep structure, and improve the night sleep quality and daytime body function.

Abstract
A 62-year-old female patient presented with no improvement in vision 10 days after undergoing cataract extraction in the right eye. The unaided visual acuity in the right eye was 0.1, and examination with a slit lamp revealed the presence of the intraocular lens with an increased gap between the intraocular lens and the posterior capsule. Anterior segment optical coherence tomography showed a distance of 3.236 mm between the posterior capsule and the posterior surface of the intraocular lens. Based on the medical history, ocular examination, and auxiliary examinations, a diagnosis of right eye capsular blockage syndrome was made. Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy was performed at the anterior capsule outside the optical zone of the intraocular lens. One week later, the posterior capsule adhered to the posterior surface of the intraocular lens, and there was a significant improvement in vision compared to before the procedure.

Abstract
The soil selenium (Se) content and bioavailability are important for human health. In this regard, knowing the factors driving the concentration of total Se and bioavailable Se in soils is essential to map Se, enhance foodstuffs' Se content, and improve the Se nutritional status of humans. In this study, total Se and Se bioavailability (i.e., phosphate extracted Se) in surface soils (0-20 cm) developed on different strata were analyzed in a Se-enriched region of Southwest China. Furthermore, the interaction between the stratum and soil properties was assessed and how did the stratum effect on the concentration and spatial distribution of Se bioavailability in soils was investigated. Results showed that the median concentration of total Se in soils was 0.308 mg/kg, which is higher than China's soil background. The mean proportion of phosphate extracted Se in total Se was 12.2 %. The values of total Se, phosphate extracted Se, and soil organic matter (SOM) in soils increased with the increasing stratum age. In contrast, the coefficient of weathering and eluviation (BA) values decreased. The analysis of statistics and Geodetector revealed that the SOM, stratum, and BA were the dominant controlling factors for the contents and distributions of soil total Se and phosphate extracted Se. This study provided strong evidence that the soil properties that affected the total Se and Se bioavailability were modulated by the local geological background, and had important practical implications for addressing Se malnutrition and developing the Se-rich resource in the study region and similar geological settings in different parts of the globe.

Abstract
An argon-based low-temperature plasma jet (LTPJ) was used to treat chronically infected wounds in Staphylococcus aureus-laden mice. Based on physicochemical property analysis and in vitro antibacterial experiments, the effects of plasma parameters on the reactive nitrogen and oxygen species (RNOS) content and antibacterial capacity were determined, and the optimal treatment parameters were determined to be 4 standard litre per minute and 35 W. Additionally, the plasma-treated activation solution had a bactericidal effect. Although RNOS are related to the antimicrobial effect of plasma, excess RNOS may be detrimental to wound remodelling. In vivo studies demonstrated that medium-dose LTPJ promoted MMP-9 expression and inhibited bacterial growth during the early stages of healing. Moreover, LTPJ increased collagen deposition, reduced inflammation, and restored blood vessel density and TGF-β levels to normal in the later stages of wound healing. Therefore, when treating chronically infected wounds with LTPJ, selecting the medium dose of plasma is more advantageous for wound recovery. Overall, our study demonstrated that low-temperature plasma jets may be a potential tool for the treatment of chronically infected wounds.

Abstract
Hairy polyps, considered a highly unusual congenital anomaly of the pharynx, are believed by many scholars to arise from the ectoderm and mesoderm during the embryonic stage. These growths often have a pear or sausage shape, are pedunculated, and their size ranges between 0.5 and 6 cm. They are typically grayish white or pink in color. This article discusses a 12-year-old female who had a growth at the Eustachian tube's entrance on the left side of the nasopharyngeal wall, as identified by a computed tomography scan of the neck soft tissue; it was suspected to be a hairy polyp originating from the left Eustachian tube. The diagnosis of a hairy polyp was confirmed through pathology. The hairy polyp at the Eustachian tube, in this case, showed an irregular form with a wide base, making it look similar to an adenoid; thus, increasing the risk of it being misdiagnosed as residual adenoid tissue.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Cognitive decline progresses with age, and Nr4a1 has been shown to participate in memory functions. However, the relationship between age-related Nr4a1 reduction and cognitive decline is undefined. METHODS Nr4a1 expressions were evaluated by quantitative PCR and immunochemical approaches. The cognition of mice was examined by multiple behavioral tests. Patch-clamp experiments were conducted to investigate the synaptic function. RESULTS NR4A1 in peripheral blood mononuclear cells decreased with age in humans. In the mouse brain, age-dependent Nr4a1 reduction occurred in the hippocampal CA1. Deleting Nr4a1 in CA1 pyramidal neurons (PyrNs) led to the impairment of cognition and excitatory synaptic function. Mechanistically, Nr4a1 enhanced TrkB expression via binding to its promoter. Blocking TrkB compromised the cognitive amelioration with Nr4a1-overexpression in CA1 PyrNs. DISCUSSION Our results elucidate the mechanism of Nr4a1-dependent TrkB regulation in cognition and synaptic function, indicating that Nr4a1 is a target for the treatment of cognitive decline. HIGHLIGHTS Nr4a1 is reduced in PBMCs and CA1 PyrNs with aging. Nr4a1 ablation in CA1 PyrNs impaired cognition and excitatory synaptic function. Nr4a1 overexpression in CA1 PyrNs ameliorated cognitive impairment of aged mice. Nr4a1 bound to TrkB promoter to enhance transcription. Abstract
OBJECTIVES In the past, guided image filtering (GIF)-based methods often utilized total variation (TV)-based methods to reconstruct guidance images. And they failed to reconstruct the intricate details of complex clinical images accurately. To address these problems, we propose a new sparse-view CT reconstruction method based on group-based sparse representation using weighted guided image filtering. METHODS In each iteration of the proposed algorithm, the result constrained by the group-based sparse representation (GSR) is used as the guidance image. Then, the weighted guided image filtering (WGIF) was used to transfer the important features from the guidance image to the reconstruction of the SART method. RESULTS Three representative slices were tested under 64 projection views, and the proposed method yielded the best visual effect. For the shoulder case, the PSNR can achieve 48.82, which is far superior to other methods. CONCLUSIONS The experimental results demonstrate that our method is more effective in preserving structures, suppressing noise, and reducing artifacts compared to other methods.

Abstract
Air lasing provides a promising technique to remotely produce coherent radiation in the atmosphere and has attracted continuous attention. However, the polarization properties of N2+ lasing with seeding have not been understood since it was discovered 10 years ago, in which the polarization behaviors appear disordered and confusing. Here, we performed an experimental and theoretical investigation of the polarization properties of N2+ lasing and successfully revealed its underlying physical mechanism. We found that the optical gain is anisotropic, owing to the permanent alignment of N2+ induced by the preferential ionization of the pump light. As a result, the polarization of the N2+ lasing tends to align with that of the pump light after amplification, which becomes more pronounced as the amplification factor increases. Based on the permanent alignment of N2+, we built a theoretical model that analytically interpreted and numerically reproduced the experimental observations, which points out the key factors for controlling the polarization of N2+ lasing.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Obstetric antiphospholipid syndrome (OAPS) is an autoimmune disease characterised by the presence of antiphospholipid antibodies in circulation and pathological pregnancy. However, the pathogenesis of OAPS remains unknown. We aimed to reveal cellular compositions and molecular features of decidual cells involved in the development of OAPS using single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq). METHODS We performed unbiased scRNA-seq analysis on the first-trimester decidua from five OAPS patients and five healthy controls (HCs), followed by validations with flow cytometry, immunohistochemical staining and immunofluorescence in a larger cohort. Serum chemokines and cytokines were measured by using ELISA. RESULTS A higher ratio of macrophages but a lower ratio of decidual natural killer (dNK) cells was found in decidua from OAPS compared with HCs. Vascular endothelial cells shrinked in OAPS decidua while having upregulated chemokine expression and conspicuous responses to IFN-γ and TNF-α. Macrophages in OAPS had stronger phagocytosis function, complement activation signals and relied more on glycolysis. dNK cells were more activated in OAPS and had enhanced cytotoxicity and IFN-γ production. Downregulation of granules in OAPS dNK cells could be associated with suppressed glycolysis. Moreover, stromal cells had a prosenescent state with weakened immune surveillance for senescent cells in OAPS. In addition, the cellular interactions between decidual immune cells and those of immune cells with non-immune cells under disease state were altered, especially through chemokines, IFN-γ and TNF-α. CONCLUSION This study provided a comprehensive decidual cell landscape and identified aberrant decidual microenvironment in OAPS, providing some potential therapeutic targets for this disease.

Abstract
The silkworm, Bombyx mori, stands out as one of the few economically valuable insects within the realm of model organisms. However, Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) poses a significant threat, decreasing the quality and quantity of silkworm cocoons. Over the past few decades, a multitude of researchers has delved into the mechanisms that underlie silkworm resistance to BmNPV, employing diverse methodologies and approaching the problem from various angles. Despite this extensive research, the role of alternative splicing (AS) in the silkworm's response to BmNPV infection has been largely unexplored. This study leveraged both third-generation (Oxford Nanopore Technologies) and second-generation (Illumina) high-throughput sequencing technologies to meticulously identify and analyze AS patterns in the context of BmNPV response, utilizing two distinct silkworm strains-the susceptible strain 306 and the resistant strain NB. Consequently, we identified five crucial genes (Dsclp, LOC692903, LOC101743583, LOC101742498, LOC101743809) that are linked to the response to BmNPV infection through AS and differential expression. Additionally, a thorough comparative analysis was conducted on their diverse transcriptomic expression profiles, including alternative polyadenylation, simple sequence repeats, and transcription factors.

Abstract
Reproducibility is a "proteomic dream" yet to be fully realized. A typical data analysis workflow utilizing extracted ion chromatograms (XICs) often treats the information path from identification to quantification as a one-way street. Here, we propose an XIC-centric approach in which the data flow is bidirectional: identifications are used to derive XICs whose information is in turn applied to validate the identifications. In this study, we employed liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry data from glycoprotein and human hair samples to illustrate the XIC-centric concept. At the core of this approach was XIC-based monoisotope repicking. Taking advantage of the intensity information for all detected isotopes across the whole range of an XIC peak significantly improved the accuracy and uncovered misidentifications originating from monoisotope assignment mistakes. It could also rescue non-top-ranked glycopeptide hits. Identification of glycopeptides is particularly susceptible to precursor mass errors for their low abundances, large masses, and glycans differing by 1 or 2 Da easily confused as isotopes. In addition, the XIC-centric strategy significantly reduced the problem of one XIC peak associated with multiple unique identifications, a source of quantitative irreproducibility. Taken together, the proposed approach can lead to improved identification and quantification accuracy and, ultimately, enhanced reproducibility in proteomic data analyses.

Abstract
Exploring cell-cell communication is pivotal for understanding biological processes in multicellular life forms. Here, we present a protocol that details the use of matrix decomposition to infer cell-cell communication (MDIC3) for unsupervised cell-cell communication inference. We describe steps for using the MDIC3 Python scripts to deduce cell-cell communication and identify key ligand-receptor pairs between a specific cell type pair from a single-cell gene expression dataset. Abstract
Neurodegenerative diseases are characterized by the progressive loss of selectively vulnerable populations of neurons, and many factors are involved in its causes. Neurotoxicity and oxidative stress, are the main related factors. The octapeptide Ile-Ile-Ala-Val-Glu-Ala-Gly-Cys (IEC) was identified from the microalgae Isochrysis zhanjiangensis and exhibited potential anti-oxidative stress activity. In this study, the stability of α-synaptic protein binding to IEC was modeled using molecular dynamics, and the results indicated binding stabilization within 60 ns. Oxidative stress in neurons is the major cause of α-synaptic protein congestion. Therefore, we next evaluated the protective effects of IEC against oxidative stress and neurotoxicity in 6-ohdainduced Parkinson's disease (PD) model SH-SY5Y cells in vitro. In oxidative stress, IEC appeared to increase the expression of the antioxidant enzymes HO-1 and GPX through the antioxidant pathway of Nrf2, and molecular docking of IEC with Nrf2 and GPX could generate hydrogen bonds. Regarding apoptosis, IEC protected cells by increasing the Bcl-2/Bax ratio, inhibiting the caspase cascade, acting on p53, and modulating the Jak2/Stat3 pathway. The results indicated that IEC exerted neuroprotective effects through the inhibition of α-synaptic protein aggregation and antioxidant activity. Therefore, microalgal peptides have promising applications in the pre-vention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.

Abstract
How may feelings of love and hate impact people's attention? We used a modified Attentional Blink (AB) task in which 300 participants were asked to categorise a name representing a person towards whom they felt either hate, love, or neutral (first target) plus identify a number word (second target), both embedded in a rapidly presented stream of other words. The lag to the second target was systematically varied. Contrary to our hypothesis, results revealed that both hated and loved names resulted in higher accuracy for the second target than neutral names, which was largely independent of lag. Also, there we observed no sustained transfer effects of love and hate onto neutral name trials. The findings differ from prior research on attentional blink and transient, non-personal, stimulus-driven emotions, suggesting that interpersonal feelings activate different attention-relevant mechanisms. Relevant to future research, we speculate that love and hate are motivators of goal-directed behaviour that facilitate subsequent information processing.
