Abstract
Bacteria belonging to the genus Algoriphagus have been isolated from various sources, such as Antarctic sea ice, seawater, and sediment, and some strains are known to produce orange to red pigments. However, the pigment composition and biosynthetic genes have not been fully elucidated. A new red-pigmented Algoriphagus sp. strain, oki45, was isolated from the surface of seaweed collected from Senaga-Jima Island, Okinawa, Japan. Genome comparison revealed oki45's average nucleotide identity of less than 95% to its closely related species, Algoriphagus confluentis NBRC 111222 T and Algoriphagus taiwanensis JCM 19755 T. Comprehensive chemical analyses of oki45's pigments, including 1H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance and circular dichroism spectroscopy, revealed that the pigments were mixtures of monocyclic carotenoids, (3S)-flexixanthin ((3S)-3,1'-dihydroxy-3',4'-didehydro-1',2'-dihydro-β,ψ-caroten-4-one) and (2R,3S)-2-hydroxyflexixanthin ((2R,3S)-2,3,1'-trihydroxy-3',4'-didehydro-1',2'-dihydro-β,ψ-caroten-4-one); in particular, the latter compound was new and not previously reported. Both monocyclic carotenoids were also found in A. confluentis NBRC 111222 T and A. taiwanensis JCM 19755 T. Further genome comparisons of carotenoid biosynthetic genes revealed the presence of eight genes (crtE, crtB, crtI, cruF, crtD, crtYcd, crtW, and crtZ) for flexixanthin biosynthesis. In addition, a crtG homolog gene encoding 2,2'-β-hydroxylase was found in the genome of the strains oki45, A. confluentis NBRC 111222 T, and A. taiwanensis JCM 19755 T, suggesting that the gene is involved in 2-hydroxyflexixanthin synthesis via 2-hydroxylation of flexixanthin. These findings expand our knowledge of monocyclic carotenoid biosynthesis in Algoriphagus bacteria. Abstract
Ladder systems situated in the dimensional crossover region have attracted much attention because their electronic states and physical properties depend strongly on the electronic correlations among the constituent legs. Generally, two-/three-legged transition metal-oxide ladder compounds are studied as representative ladder systems, but two-/three-dimensional (2D/3D) extensions based on such ladder systems with a few numbers of legs are difficult because of the extreme synthesis conditions. Here, for the first time, we report the successful creation of a 3D extended two-legged ladder compound, [Pt(en)(dpye)I]2(NO3)4 ⋅ 2H2O (en=ethylenediamine; dpye=1,2-Di(4-pyridyl)ethane), which is obtained by simple oxidative polymerization of a small Pt macrocyclic complex using elemental I2. The unique 3D extended lattice consists of 1D mixed-valence halogen-bridged metal chains (⋅⋅⋅Pt-I-Pt-I⋅⋅⋅) and helically arranged macrocyclic units as the constituent legs and rungs, as confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Diffuse X-ray scattering analyses and optical measurements revealed that the out-of-phase mixed-valence Pt2+/Pt4+ arrangement arises from the weak interchain correlation among adjacent legs. In addition, this compound shows an increase in proton conductivity by a factor of up to 1000, depending on humidity.

Abstract
Salivary alpha-amylase (sAA) is an enzyme found in saliva and is considered a noninvasive biomarker for sympathetic nervous system activity. While a wide range of sAA activity in response to stress has been reported in nonhuman primates, the effects of stress on sAA activity in common marmosets are still unknown. We tested the hypothesis that advanced age and cognitive function may have an impact on stress-related sAA reactivity in marmosets. Thirteen marmosets (nine males and five females) had saliva samples collected during a stressful condition (manual restraint stress) at two different time points, with a 60-min interval. On the next day, the animals underwent the object recognition test (ORT, a type of cognitive test), and then oral examinations. The animals were categorized into two age groups: old (10-13 years), and very old (15-22 years). Irrespective of age, sAA levels showed a significant difference between T1 (mean 2.07 ± 0.86 U/mL) and T2 samples (mean 1.03 ± 0.67 U/mL), with higher values observed at T1 (p < 0.001). The intra-assay coefficients of variation (CV) for low and high sAA concentrations were 10.79% and 8.17%, respectively, while the interassay CVs for low and high sAA concentrations were 6.39% and 4.38%, respectively. Oral health issues were common but did not significantly impact sAA levels. The ORT indicated that the animals could recognize an object placed in the cage 6 h after familiarization. In conclusion, all marmosets showed a higher sAA concentration in the first saliva sample as compared to the second saliva sample collected 1 h later, indicating adaptation to stress. No significant differences in sAA levels were observed between sexes, ORT performance, or oral health. Our results indicate that autonomic responsivity and cognitive (memory) functions were preserved even in very old marmosets.

Abstract
The prevalence of underweight among young women is a serious international health issue. However, the evidence on how being underweight negatively affects brain health and cognition is still unclear. This study investigated the association between underweight status, academic performance, and neurocognitive control in young Japanese women using a cross-sectional design. We analyzed the academic performance of female undergraduates, comparing underweight and healthy-weight groups (n = 43; age 18-23 years, M = 21.1, SD = 1.3) based on their grade point average (GPA). We also analyzed their error-related negativity (ERN), an electrophysiological measure that potentially reflects academic performance, during an arrowhead version of the flanker task to assess cognitive control of action monitoring. Participants with a low body mass index were found to have lower GPAs. Furthermore, the underweight students exhibited smaller ERN amplitudes, which indicates decreased cognitive control in action monitoring. These findings suggest that a healthy weight status is essential for effective cognitive functioning and academic success in young adult women, among whom being underweight is a serious health problem.

Abstract
Although medical and long-term care expenditures for older adults are closely related, providing rigorous statistical analysis for their dynamic relationship is challenging. In this research, we propose a novel approach using the panel vector autoregression model to reveal the realized patterns of the interdependence. As an empirical application, we analyze monthly panel data on individuals in a city of Japan, where social insurance covers many formal services for long-term care. Our estimation results indicate the existence of intertemporal transition from expensive acute medical care to reasonable at-home medical care, then to at-home long-term care. Under this context, the enhancement of formal long-term care sector in Japan might have played an important role in the suppression of the total care cost in spite for its rapid aging over the past 2 decades. Additionally, we find that daycare plays multiple roles in Japanese long-term care, such as respite and rehabilitation, but there is no considerable transition from outpatient rehabilitation to daycare in the long-term care sector.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We investigated whether non-enhancement MRI features, including measurement of the heterogeneity of the tumor with MR T2 imaging by calculating coefficient of variation (CV) values, were associated with the prognosis of non-metastatic malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNST). METHODS This retrospective study included 42 patients with MPNST who had undergone surgical resection (mean age, 50 years ± 21; 20 male participants). Non-enhancement MR images were evaluated for signal intensity heterogeneity on T1- and T2-weighted imaging, tumor margin definition on T1- and T2-weighted imaging, peritumoral edema on T2-weight imaging, and CV. We measured the signal intensities of MR T2-weighted images and calculated the corresponding CV values. CV is defined as the ratio of the standard deviation to the mean. The associations between factors and overall survival (OS) were investigated via the Kaplan-Meier method with log-rank tests and the Cox proportional hazards model. RESULTS The mean CV value of MR T2 images was 0.2299 ± 0.1339 (standard deviation) (range, 0.0381-0.8053). Applying receiver operating characteristics analysis, the optimal cut-off level for CV value was 0.137. This cut-off CV value was used for its stratification into high and low CV values. At multivariate survival analysis, a high CV value (hazard ratio = 3.63; 95% confidence interval = 1.16-16.0; p = 0.047) was identified as an independent predictor of OS. CONCLUSION The CV value of the signal intensity of heterogenous MPNSTs MR T2-weighted images is an independent predictor of patients' OS.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the relationship of followings for patients with moyamoya disease (MMD): arterial wall enhancement on vessel wall MRI (VW-MRI), cross-sectional area (CSA), time-of-flight MR angiography (MRA), age, locations from intracranial internal carotid artery (ICA) to proximal middle cerebral artery (MCA), disease progression, and transient ischemic attack (TIA). METHODS Patients who underwent VW-MRI between October 2018 and December 2020 were enrolled in this retrospective study. We measured arterial wall enhancement (enhancement ratio, ER) and CSA at five sections of ICA and MCA. Also, we scored MRA findings. Multiple linear regression (MLR) analysis was performed to explore the associations between ER, age, MRA score, CSA, history of TIA, and surgical revascularization. RESULTS We investigated 102 sides of 51 patients with MMD (35 women, 16 men, mean age 31 years ± 18 [standard deviation]). ER for MRA score 2 (signal discontinuity) was higher than ER for other scores in sections D (end of ICA) and E (proximal MCA) on MLR analysis. ER in section E was significantly higher in patients for MRA score 2 with TIA history than without. ER significantly increased as CSA increased in section E, which suggests ER becomes less in decreased CSA due to negative remodeling. CONCLUSION Arterial wall enhancement in MMD varies by age, location, and disease progression. Arterial wall enhancement may be stronger in the progressive stage of MMD. Abstract
Programmed-1 ribosomal frameshifting (-1 PRF) is a translational mechanism adopted by some viruses, including SARS-CoV-2. To find a compound that can inhibit -1 PRF in SARS-CoV-2, we set up a high-throughput screening system using a HeLa cell extract-derived cell-free protein synthesis (CFPS) system. A total of 32,000 compounds were individually incubated with the CFPS system programmed with a -1 PRF-EGFP template. Several compounds were observed to decrease the -1 PRF-driven fluorescence, and one of them had some suppressive effect on -1 PRF of a SARS-CoV-2 genome sequence in transfected cells. Thus the CFPS system can be used as a tool for a high-throughput screening of chemicals.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is subclassified into small and large duct types. The impact of these subclassifications for identifying appropriate surgical strategies remains unclear. PATIENTS AND METHODS This study included 118 patients with ICC who underwent liver resection. Based on the pathological examination results, the participants were divided into the small duct-type ICC group (n = 64) and large duct-type ICC group (n = 54). The clinicopathological features and postoperative outcomes were compared between the two groups to investigate the impact of subclassification for selecting appropriate surgical strategies. RESULTS Ten patients in the small duct-type ICC group had synchronous or metachronous hepatocellular carcinoma. The large duct-type ICC group had higher proportions of patients who underwent major hepatectomy, extrahepatic bile duct resection, portal vein resection, and lymph node sampling or dissection than the small duct-type ICC group. The large duct-type ICC group had significantly higher incidences of lymph node metastasis/recurrence and pathological major vessel invasion than the other. The small duct-type ICC group exhibited significantly higher recurrence-free and overall survival rates than the large duct-type ICC group. Further, the large duct-type ICC group had a significantly higher incidence of lymph node metastasis/recurrence than the small duct-type ICC at the perihilar region group. CONCLUSIONS Suitable surgical strategies may differ between the small and large duct-type ICCs. In patients with large duct-type ICCs, hepatectomy with lymph node dissection and/or biliary reconstruction should be considered, whereas hepatectomy without these advanced procedures can be suggested for patients with small duct-type ICCs.

Abstract
The single-stent strategy has generally been accepted as the default approach to bifurcation percutaneous coronary intervention. We have proposed the proximal balloon edge dilation (PBED) technique to prevent stent deformation during side branch (SB) dilation. This bench study aimed to evaluate the impact of stent link location and stent design on stent deformation, obstruction by stent struts at a jailed SB ostium, and incomplete stent apposition in the proximal optimization technique (POT)-PBED procedure. A coronary bifurcation model was used. We intentionally set the absence or presence of stent link on the carina (link-free or link-connect) under videoscope observation and compared stent parameters between 3- and 2-link stents (n = 5 each, n = 20 total). In the link-free group, the SB jailing rate of 3-link stents was significantly higher than that of 2-link stents (15.5 ± 5.1% vs. 6.6 ± 1.2%, p = 0.009). In the link-connect group, the SB jailing rate of 3-link stents was significantly lower than that of 2-link stents (30.0 ± 4.5% vs. 39.0 ± 2.6%, p = 0.009). In the bifurcation segment, the rate of incomplete stent apposition was significantly lower for 3-link stents of the link-connect group than for 2-link stents of the link-connect group (3.3 ± 4.2% vs. 19.0 ± 7.8%, p = 0.009). For both stent designs, ellipticity ratio was higher for link-connect group than link-free group. Link location as well as stent cell design greatly impacted stent deformation during the POT-PBED procedure.

Abstract
Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PanNETs) are rare malignant tumors that occur in the pancreas. They are divided into functioning and non-functioning tumors based on the presence or absence of their specific hormonal hyper-expression symptoms. Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH)-producing PanNETs are rare, functional tumors, and their clinical characteristics and outcomes have not been well reported.Here, we report the cases of two patients with PanNETs who presented with ectopic ACTH syndrome (EAS) during the course of their disease. Case 1 involved a non-functioning PanNET at the time of surgery. During treatment for recurrent liver metastases, the patient presented with EAS and tumor-associated hypercalcemia, probably due to ACTH and parathyroid hormone-related peptide (PTHrP) production from the liver tumor. Case 2 was a gastrinoma, and similar to Case 1, this patient presented with EAS during the treatment of recurrent liver metastases.It is not uncommon for patients with PanNETs to have multiple hormones and develop secondary hormone secretion during their disease course, although tumor phenotypes differ between primary and metastatic sites. In patients with functioning PanNETs, symptom control with anti-hormonal therapy is essential, in addition to anti-tumor therapy, especially for EAS, which is an endocrine emergency disease that requires prompt diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract
Induction of antibodies (Abs) against the conformational CD4-induced (CD4i) epitope is frequent in HIV-1 infection. However, the mechanism of development of anti-CD4i Abs is unclear. We used anti-idiotypic (aID) monoclonal Abs (mAbs) of anti-CD4i mAbs to isolate anti-CD4i mAbs from infected subjects and track the causative antigens. One anti-aID mAb sorted from infected subjects by aID mAbs had the characteristics of anti-CD4i Abs, including IGHV1-69 usage and ability to bind to HIV-1 Env enhanced by sCD4. Critical amino acid sequences for the binding of six anti-aID mAbs, with shared idiotope to anti-CD4i mAbs, were analysed by phage display. The identified amino acid sequences showed similarity to proteins from human microbiota and infectious agents. Peptides synthesized from Caudoviricetes sp and Vibrio vulnificus based on the identified sequences were reactive to most anti-aID and some anti-CD4i mAbs. These results suggest that anti-CD4i Abs may evolve from B cells primed by microorganisms.

Abstract
Hybrids can express traits plastically, enabling them to occupy environments that differ from parental environments. However, there is insufficient evidence demonstrating how phenotypic plasticity in specific traits mediates hybrid performance. Two parental ecotypes of Imperata cylindrica produce F1 hybrids. The E-type in wet habitats has larger internal aerenchyma than the C-type in dry habitats. This study evaluated relationships between habitat utilisation, aerenchyma plasticity, and growth of I. cylindrica accessions. We hypothesize that plasticity in expressing parental traits explains hybrid establishment in habitats with various soil moisture conditions. Aerenchyma formation was examined in the leaf midribs, rhizomes and roots of two parental ecotypes and their F1 hybrids in their natural habitats. In common garden experiments, we examined plastic aerenchyma formation in leaf midribs, rhizomes and roots of natural and artificial F1 hybrids and parental ecotypes and quantified vegetative growth performance. In the natural habitats where soil moisture content varied widely, the F1 hybrids showed larger variation in aerenchyma formation in rhizomes than their parental ecotypes. In the common garden experiments, F1 hybrids showed high plasticity of aerenchyma formation in rhizomes, and their growth was similar to that of C-type and E-type under drained and flooded conditions, respectively. The results demonstrate that F1 hybrids of I. cylindrica exhibit plasticity in aerenchyma development in response to varying local soil moisture content. This characteristic allows the hybrids to thrive in diverse soil moisture conditions.

Abstract
This review article includes a literature review of synteny analysis of the amphibian gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) genes, the distribution of GnRH 1 and GnRH2 neurons in the central nervous system of amphibians, the function and regulation of hypophysiotropic GnRH1, and the function of GnRH1 in amphibian reproductive behaviors. It is generally accepted that GnRH is the key regulator of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. Three independent GnRH genes, GnRH1, GnRH2, and GnRH3, have been identified in vertebrates. Previous genome synteny analyses suggest that there are likely just two genes, gnrh1 and gnrh2, in amphibians. In three groups of amphibians: Anura, Urodela, and Gymnophiona, the distributions of GnRH1 and GnRH2 neurons in the central nervous system have also been previously reported. Moreover, these neuronal networks were determined to be structurally independent in all species examined. The somata of GnRH1 neurons are located in the terminal nerve, medial septum (MS), and preoptic area (POA), and some GnRH1 neurons in the MS and POA project into the median eminence. In contrast, the somata of GnRH2 neurons are located in the midbrain tegmentum. In amphibians, GnRH1 neurons originate from the embryonic olfactory placode, while GnRH2 neurons originate from the midbrain. The characterization and feedback regulation mechanisms of hypophysiotropic GnRH1 neurons in amphibians, the involvement of GnRH1 in amphibian reproductive behavior, and its possible mechanism of action should be elucidated in future.

Abstract
AIM To examine the mental health conditions of family caregivers residing away from their loved ones who experienced visitation restrictions during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. DESIGN A mixed-methods design applying the Kessler Scale-10 for the quantitative measurement of psychological distress and an open-ended question for qualitative analysis. METHODS The participants were recruited from care facilities between February and September 2021. This cross-sectional study included 197 family caregivers who were utilizing formal residential care services for their loved ones. Using thematic analyses, open-ended responses regarding the impact of visitation restrictions were coded. These themes were then examined to determine thematic patterns across caregiver characteristics. RESULTS Thirteen themes were identified regarding the impact of visitation restrictions. Many participants reported primary harmful effects as follows: 'inability to confirm the type of care and lifestyle assistance provided to an older relative' and 'difficulty communicating with an older relative because of the inability to converse face-to-face'. Younger age, being employed, poor sleep, poor relationship quality with the care recipient and experiencing harmful effects from the visitation restrictions were associated with psychological distress. CONCLUSION Our findings suggest that to maintain positive mental health after a care transition, it is important for family caregivers to take part in the care of their loved ones and ensure information sharing between the care recipient's family and institution. IMPACT These findings suggest that both residents and family caregivers living outside facilities may feel distressed due to separation. Therefore, institutional care staff needs to consider how to adjust facility procedures or communication with family caregivers. PATIENT OR PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION The comments obtained from the participants in this survey helped to shape the study design and are expected to contribute to the further development of quality facility care.

Abstract
Cell death and proliferation are at a glance dichotomic events, but occasionally coupled. Caspases, traditionally known to execute apoptosis, play non-apoptotic roles, but their exact mechanism remains elusive. Here, using Drosophila intestinal stem cells (ISCs), we discovered that activation of caspases induces massive cell proliferation rather than cell death. We elucidate that a positive feedback circuit exists between caspases and JNK, which can simultaneously drive cell proliferation and cell death. In ISCs, signalling from JNK to caspases is defective, which skews the balance towards proliferation. Mechanistically, two-tiered regulation of the DIAP1 inhibitor rpr, through its transcription and its protein localization, exists. This work provides a conceptual framework that explains how caspases perform apoptotic and non-apoptotic functions in vivo and how ISCs accomplish their resistance to cell death.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Local alternating heat and cold stimulation as an alternative to contrast bath may cause intermittent vasoconstriction and vasodilation, inducing a vascular pumping effect and consequently promoting increased tissue blood flow and oxygenation. This study aimed to examine the effects of local alternating heat and cold stimulation, using a wearable thermal device, on the hemodynamics of fatigued muscle tissue and autonomic nervous activity. METHODS Twenty healthy individuals experienced fatigue in the periarticular muscles of the shoulder joint due to a typing task. Local alternating heat and cold stimulations were then applied to the upper trapezius muscle. Muscle hardness was measured using a muscle hardness meter, and muscle tissue hemodynamics and oxygenation were evaluated using near-infrared spectroscopy before and after the stimulation. Autonomic nervous activity was also evaluated using heart rate variability. RESULTS Alternating heat and cold stimulation decreased muscle hardness of the fatigued trapezius muscle from 1.38 ± 0.15 to 1.31 ± 0.14 N (P < 0.01). The concentration of total hemoglobin in the trapezius muscle tissue increased from - 0.21 ± 1.36 to 2.29 ± 3.42 µmol/l (P < 0.01), and the tissue hemoglobin oxygen saturation also increased from 70.1 ± 5.4 to 71.1 ± 6.0% (P < 0.05). Additionally, the heart rate variability parameter, which is an index of sympathetic nervous activity, increased from 3.82 ± 2.96 to 6.86 ± 3.49 (P < 0.01). A correlation was found between increased tissue hemoglobin oxygen saturation and increased parameters of sympathetic nervous activity (r = 0.50, P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Local alternating heat and cold stimulation affected the hemodynamic response in fatigued muscle tissue and autonomic nervous activity. This stimulation is more efficient than conventional contrast baths in terms of mobility and temperature control and has potential as a new versatile therapeutic intervention for muscle fatigue. Abstract
Eomesodermin-expressing (Eomes+) T-helper (Th) cells show cytotoxic characteristics in secondary progressive multiple sclerosis. We found that Eomes+ Th cell frequency was increased in the peripheral blood of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and Alzheimer's disease patients. Furthermore, granzyme B production by Th cells from such patients was high compared with controls. A high frequency of Eomes+ Th cells was observed in the initial (acutely progressive) stage of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and a positive correlation between Eomes+ Th cell frequency and cognitive decline was observed in Alzheimer's disease patients. Therefore, Eomes+ Th cells may be involved in the pathology of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and Alzheimer's disease. ANN NEUROL 2024.

Abstract
Postural assessment is one of the indicators of health status in older adults. Since the number of older adults is on the rise, it is essential to assess simpler methods and automated ones in the future. Therefore, we focused on a visual method (imaging method). The purpose of this study is to determine the degree of agreement between the imaging method and the palpation and visual methods (clinical method). In addition, the influence of differences in the information content of the sagittal plane images on the assessment was also investigated. In this experiment, 28 sagittal photographs of older adults whose posture had already been assessed using the clinical method were used. Furthermore, based on these photographs, 28 gray and silhouette images (G and S images) were generated, respectively. The G and S images were assessed by 28 physical therapists (PTs) using the imaging method. The assessment was based on the Kendall classification, with one of four categories selected for each image: ideal, kyphosis lordosis, sway back, and flat back. Cross-tabulation matrices of the assessments using the clinical method and imaging method were created. In this table, four categories and two categories of ideal and non-ideal (KL, SB, and FB) were created. The agreement was evaluated using the prevalence-adjusted bias-adjusted kappa (PABAK). In addition, sensitivity and specificity were calculated to confirm the reliability. When comparing the clinical and imaging methods in the four posture categories, the PABAK values were -0.14 and -0.29 for the S and G images, respectively. In the case of the two categories, the PABAK values were 0.57 and 0.5 for the S and G images, respectively. The sensitivity and specificity were 86% and 57% for the S images and 76% and 71% for the G images, respectively. The four categories show that the imaging method is difficult to assess regardless of the image processing. However, in the case of the two categories, the same assessment of the clinical method applied to the imaging method for both the S and G images. Therefore, no differences in image processing were observed, suggesting that PTs can identify posture using the visual method.

Abstract
Taste receptor type 1 (T1r) proteins are responsible for recognizing nutrient chemicals in foods. In humans, T1r2/T1r3 and T1r1/T1r3 heterodimers serve as the sweet and umami receptors that recognize sugars or amino acids and nucleotides, respectively. T1rs are conserved among vertebrates, and T1r2a/T1r3 from medaka fish is currently the only member for which the structure of the ligand-binding domain (LBD) has been solved. T1r2a/T1r3 is an amino acid receptor that recognizes various l-amino acids in its LBD as observed with other T1rs exhibiting broad substrate specificities. Nevertheless, the range of chemicals that are recognized by T1r2a/T1r3LBD has not been extensively explored. In the present study, the binding of various chemicals to medaka T1r2a/T1r3LBD was analyzed. A binding assay for amino acid derivatives verified the specificity of this protein to l-α-amino acids and the importance of α-amino and carboxy groups for receptor recognition. The results further indicated the significance of the α-hydrogen for recognition as replacing it with a methyl group resulted in a substantially decreased affinity. The binding ability to the protein was not limited to proteinogenic amino acids, but also to non-proteinogenic amino acids, such as metabolic intermediates. Besides l-α-amino acids, no other chemicals showed significant binding to the protein. These results indicate that all of the common structural groups of α-amino acids and their geometry in the l-configuration are recognized by the protein, whereas a wide variety of α-substituents can be accommodated in the ligand binding sites of the LBDs.

Abstract
AIMS To evaluate the relationship between diabetes treatment status and occupational accidents. METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted using an online questionnaire survey completed in March 2022 among workers aged 20 years or older. The questionnaire included questions about diabetes treatment status and occupational accidents. The association between the treatment status of diabetes and occupational accidents was examined using a logistic regression analysis. RESULTS The study included 25,756 participants with no diabetes, 1,364 participants receiving diabetes treatment, 177 participants who had interrupted diabetes treatment, and 396 participants who needed diabetes treatment but had not seen a doctor. Compared with those with diabetes treatment, the odds ratio of occupational accidents among participants without diabetes was 0.40 (95% CI: 0.32-0.49), the odds ratio among participants with interrupted diabetes treatment was 4.15 (95% CI: 2.86-6.01), and the odds ratio among participants who needed diabetes treatment but had not seen a doctor was 1.25 (95% CI: 0.89-1.77). CONCLUSIONS This study showed that diabetes treatment status was related to occupational accidents, and it may be important for workers with diabetes to be supported to balance their diabetes management and their work commitments.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Reducing the environmental impact of the food supply is important for achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) worldwide. Previously, we developed the Traditional Japanese Diet Score (TJDS) and reported in a global ecological study that the Japanese diet is associated with reducing obesity and extending healthy life expectancy etc. We then examined the relationship between the TJDS and environmental indicators. METHODS The average food (g/day/capita) and energy supplies (kcal/day/capita) by country were obtained from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Statistics Division database. The TJDS was calculated from eight food groups (beneficial food components in the Japanese diet: rice, fish, soybeans, vegetables, and eggs; food components that are relatively unused in the traditional Japanese diet: wheat, milk, and red meat) by country using tertiles, and calculated the total score from - 8 to 8, with higher scores meaning greater adherence to the TJDS. We used Land Use (m2), Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 2007/2013 (kg CO2eq), Acidifying emissions (g SO2eq), Eutrophying emissions (g PO43- eq), Freshwater (L), and water use (L) per food weight by Poore et al. as the environmental indicators and multiplied these indicators by each country's average food supply. We evaluated the cross-sectional and longitudinal associations between the TJDS and environmental indicators from 2010 to 2020. This study included 151 countries with populations ≥ 1 million. RESULTS Land use (β ± standard error; -0.623 ± 0.161, p < 0.001), GHG 2007 (-0.149 ± 0.057, p < 0.05), GHG 2013 (-0.183 ± 0.066, p < 0.01), Acidifying (-1.111 ± 0.369, p < 0.01), and Water use (-405.903 ± 101.416, p < 0.001) were negatively associated with TJDS, and Freshwater (45.116 ± 7.866, p < 0.001) was positively associated with TJDS after controlling for energy supply and latitude in 2010. In the longitudinal analysis, Land Use (β ± standard error; -0.116 ± 0.027, p < 0.001), GHG 2007 (-0.040 ± 0.010, p < 0.001), GHG 2013 (-0.048 ± 0.011, p < 0.001), Acidifying (-0.280 ± 0.064, p < 0.001), Eutrophying (-0.132 ± 0.062, p < 0.05), and Water use (-118.246 ± 22.826, p < 0.001) were negatively associated with TJDS after controlling for confounders. CONCLUSIONS This ecological study suggests that the traditional Japanese dietary pattern might improve SDGs except Fresh water.

Abstract
In this study, a seamless, self-transformation system of linear thermoplastic polyesters into the sustainable cross-linked polymers, vitrimers, is demonstrated. The key is the use of polyesters bearing abundant hydroxyl side groups, which are synthesized via the reaction using dithiol molecules bearing ester units and diepoxy molecules. The polymerization reaction progresses efficiently at relatively low temperature due to the click nature of the thiol-epoxy reaction, which provides the hydroxyl side groups along the polyester chain. The tin catalyst (stannous octoate) is added in the initial polymerization, and the catalyst also works to cross-link the polyesters via intermolecular transesterification bond exchange simply by heating at high temperatures. By adjusting the degrees of cross-linking, the mechanical properties as well as the thermal properties are well tuned. The bond exchange can still be activated in the final cross-linked sample; and thus, the material behaves as vitrimers, exhibiting mechanical recyclability. The application of a new type of hot melt adhesive, where the post-coating tuning/enhancement of adhesion strength is realized, is also demonstrated. On the whole, the present system is very simple but proposes a new application window of bond exchange concept into self-transformation polymers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although endoscopic mastectomy has been associated with good tolerance and enhanced patient satisfaction, limitations such as the implant or flap size for reconstruction with small incisions remain unresolved. Fat grafting (FG) can expand tissue volume with pinhole skin incisions. Herein, we evaluated the safety and efficacy of endoscopic mastectomy followed by immediate FG. METHODS Patients who underwent endoscopic mastectomy with immediate FG reconstruction from 2015 to 2021 were retrospectively evaluated to establish surgical outcomes and prognosis. RESULTS Twenty-three patients with clinical stage 0 or I breast cancer underwent unilateral endoscopic mastectomy with immediate FG. The median age was 45 years (41-55), and the median body mass index was 19.3 kg/m2 (15.8-26.6). Endoscopically performed procedures included skin-sparing mastectomies in 18 patients (78%) and nipple-sparing mastectomies in five patients (22%). The median procedure duration was 295 min (242-346). The median specimen weight was 133 g (71-334), and the median grafted fat volume was 200 mL (136-320). No patient required reoperation or additional procedures for complications. One patient experienced recurrence at a median follow-up of 56.1 months and underwent resection; the patient was alive without recurrence 54 months post-resection. CONCLUSION To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of endoscopic mastectomy with immediate FG for reconstruction. When compared with other immediate autologous reconstructions, our strategy could minimize the skin incision and procedure duration, as well as limit complications. Further prospective investigations are needed to evaluate oncological safety, surgical outcomes, and patient satisfaction.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to examine the acute effects of low-intensity one-legged electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) for skeletal muscle on arterial stiffness in EMS and non-EMS legs. Eighteen healthy subjects received two different protocols (Control (CT) and Experimental (ET) trials) in random order on separate days. EMS was applied to the left lower limb at 4 Hz for 20 min at an intensity corresponding to an elevation in pulse rate of approximately 15 beats/min (10.9 ± 5.1% of heart rate reserve). Before and after the experiment, arterial stiffness parameters in the control right leg (CRL) and control left leg (CLL) in CT and non-EMS leg (NEL) and EMS leg (EL) in ET were assessed by pulse wave velocity (baPWV, faPWV) and cardio-ankle vascular index (CAVI). No significant changes in all parameters were observed in either leg in CT. Conversely, in ET, low-intensity, single-leg EMS significantly reduced CAVI, baPWV, and faPWV in the EL, but not in the NEL. Acute, low-intensity single-leg EMS reduces arterial stiffness only in the EL. These data support our idea that physical movement-related regional factors rather than systematic factors are important for inducing acute reductions in arterial stiffness.

Abstract
Low-intensity focused transcranial ultrasound stimulation (TUS) is an emerging noninvasive technique capable of stimulating both the cerebral cortex and deep brain structures with high spatial precision. This method is recognized for its potential to comprehensively perturb various brain regions, enabling the modulation of neural circuits, in a manner not achievable through conventional magnetic or electrical brain stimulation techniques. The underlying mechanisms of neuromodulation are based on a phenomenon where mechanical waves of ultrasound kinetically interact with neurons, specifically affecting neuronal membranes and mechanosensitive channels. This interaction induces alterations in the excitability of neurons within the stimulated region. In this review, we briefly present the fundamental principles of ultrasound physics and the physiological mechanisms of TUS neuromodulation. We explain the experimental apparatus and procedures for TUS in humans. Due to the focality, the integration of various methods, including magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance-guided neuronavigation systems, is important to perform TUS experiments for precise targeting. We then review the current state of the literature on TUS neuromodulation, with a particular focus on human subjects, targeting both the cerebral cortex and deep subcortical structures. Finally, we outline future perspectives of TUS in clinical applications in psychiatric and neurological fields.

Abstract
Due to Landau quantization, the conductance of two-dimensional electrons exposed to a perpendicular magnetic field exhibits oscillations that generate a fan of linear trajectories when plotted in the parameter space spanned by density and field. This fan looks identical, irrespective of the dispersion and field dependence of the Landau level energy. This is no surprise because the position of conductance minima depends solely on the level degeneracy that is linear in flux. The fractal energy spectrum that emerges within each Landau band when electrons are also exposed to a two-dimensional superlattice potential produces numerous additional oscillations, but they also create just linear fans for identical reasons. Here, we report conductance oscillations of graphene electrons exposed to a moiré potential that defy this general rule and form nonlinear trajectories in the density-field plane. We attribute this anomalous behavior to the simultaneous occupation of multiple minibands and magnetic breakdown-induced open orbits.

Abstract
Weyl semimetals resulting from either inversion (P) or time-reversal (T) symmetry breaking have been revealed to show the record-breaking large optical response due to intense Berry curvature of Weyl-node pairs. Different classes of Weyl semimetals with both P and T symmetry breaking potentially exhibit optical magnetoelectric (ME) responses, which are essentially distinct from the previously observed optical responses in conventional Weyl semimetals, leading to the versatile functions such as directional dependence for light propagation and gyrotropic effects. However, such optical ME phenomena of (semi)metallic systems have remained elusive so far. Here, we show the large nonlinear optical ME response in noncentrosymmetric magnetic Weyl semimetal PrAlGe, in which the polar structural asymmetry and ferromagnetic ordering break P and T symmetry. We observe the giant second harmonic generation (SHG) arising from the P symmetry breaking in the paramagnetic phase, being comparable to the largest SHG response reported in Weyl semimetal TaAs. In the ferromagnetically ordered phase, it is found that interference between this nonmagnetic SHG and the magnetically induced SHG emerging due to both P and T symmetry breaking results in the magnetic field switching of SHG intensity. Furthermore, such an interference effect critically depends on the light-propagating direction. The corresponding magnetically induced nonlinear susceptibility is significantly larger than the prototypical ME material, manifesting the existence of the strong nonlinear dynamical ME coupling. The present findings establish the unique optical functionality of P- and T-symmetry broken ME topological semimetals.

Abstract
Urothelial carcinoma (UC) is the most common malignancy of the urinary tract in dogs and has aggressive behaviour. Although human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) is a known therapeutic target with evidence in canine UC, the efficacy of anti-HER2 antibody drugs remains unknown. This study aimed to investigate the effects of anti-HER2 antibody drugs including trastuzumab and trastuzumab emtansine (T-DM1) on canine UC cell lines in vitro and in vivo. Four canine UC cell lines (Nene, TCCUB, Love, and Sora) were used. In western blotting, HER2 protein expression was observed in all the cell lines. Although both trastuzumab and T-DM1 showed dose-dependent growth inhibitory activity in the cell lines, T-DM1 showed much stronger activity than that of trastuzumab. In flow cytometry analyses with the canine UC cell line (Sora), T-DM1 but not trastuzumab significantly increased the percentages of early and late apoptotic cells in annexin V apoptotic assays and the sub-G1 phase fraction in cell cycle analyses. For the in vivo experiment, the canine UC cells (Sora) were subcutaneously injected into nude mice. Four days after inoculation, trastuzumab, T-DM1, or vehicle was administered intraperitoneally once a week for three times. Tumour volumes were significantly smaller in the T-DM1 group compared to the trastuzumab and vehicle control groups. These findings indicate that T-DM1 exerts a stronger antitumour effect than that of trastuzumab on canine UC cells in vitro and in vivo, possibly by inducing apoptosis due to DM1.

Abstract
Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) rarely occurs in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). This report presents the case of a patient who developed PML due to SLE-associated multiple factors. A 60-year-old woman diagnosed with SLE undergoing multiple immunosuppressive therapies, including azathioprine, presented with cerebral cortical symptoms, lymphocytopenia, and vitamin B12 deficiency and was subsequently diagnosed with SLE-associated PML. We evaluated the cause and disease activity of PML, focusing on the longitudinal assessment of lymphocytopenia, JC virus (JCV) DNA copy number in the cerebrospinal fluid, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings. Discontinuing azathioprine and initiating alternative immunosuppressive treatments with intramuscular vitamin B12 injections affected lymphocytopenia and disease management. However, despite recovery from lymphopenia and JCV DNA copy number being low, the large hyperintense and punctate lesions observed on the fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) images exhibited varying behaviors, indicating that the balance between contributing factors for PML may have fluctuated after the initial treatment. Clinicians should be meticulous when assessing the underlying pathology of the multifactorial causes of PML due to SLE. The difference in the transition pattern of these lesions on FLAIR images may be one of the characteristics of MRI findings in PML associated with SLE, reflecting fluctuations in disease activity and the progression stage of PML.

Abstract
Bacteria in the human body, particularly in the large intestine, are known to be associated with various diseases. To identify disease-associated bacteria (markers), a typical method is to statistically compare the relative abundance of bacteria between healthy subjects and diseased patients. However, since bacteria do not necessarily cause diseases in isolation, it is also important to focus on the interactions and relationships among bacteria when examining their association with diseases. In fact, although there are common approaches to represent and analyze bacterial interaction relationships as networks, there are limited methods to find bacteria associated with diseases through network-driven analysis. In this paper, we focus on rewiring of the bacterial network and propose a new method for quantifying the rewiring. We then apply the proposed method to a group of colorectal cancer patients. We show that it can identify and detect bacteria that cannot be detected by conventional methods such as abundance comparison. Furthermore, the proposed method is implemented as a general-purpose tool and made available to the general public.

Abstract
Authentic surface structures under reaction conditions determine the activity and selectivity of electrocatalysts, therefore, the knowledge of the structure-activity relationship can facilitate the design of efficient catalyst structures for specific reactivity requirements. However, understanding the relationship between a more realistic active surface and its performance is challenging due to the complicated interface microenvironment in electrocatalysis. Herein, we proposed a standard research paradigm to effectively decipher the structure-activity relationship in electrocatalysis, which is exemplified in the CO2 electroreduction over SnO2 . The proposed practice has aided in discovering authentic/resting surface states (Sn layer) of SnO2 accountable for the electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (CO2 RR) performance under electrocatalytic conditions, which then is corroborated in the subsequent CO2 RR experiments over SnO2 with different morphologies (nanorods, nanoparticles, and nanosheets) in combination with in situ characterizations. This proposed methodology is further extended to the SnO electrocatalysts, providing helpful insights into catalytic structures. It is believed that our proposed standard research paradigm is also applicable to other electrocatalytic systems, in the meantime, decreases the discrepancy between theory and experiments, and accelerates the design of catalyst structures that achieve sustainable performance for energy conversion.

Abstract
This retrospective treatment-planning study was conducted to determine whether intensity-modulated proton therapy with robust optimization (ro-IMPT) reduces the risk of acute hematologic toxicity (H-T) and acute and late gastrointestinal toxicity (GI-T) in postoperative whole pelvic radiotherapy for gynecologic malignancies when compared with three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT), intensity-modulated X-ray (IMXT) and single-field optimization proton beam (SFO-PBT) therapies. All plans were created for 13 gynecologic-malignancy patients. The prescribed dose was 45 GyE in 25 fractions for 95% planning target volume in 3D-CRT, IMXT and SFO-PBT plans and for 99% clinical target volume (CTV) in ro-IMPT plans. The normal tissue complication probability (NTCP) of each toxicity was used as an in silico surrogate marker. Median estimated NTCP values for acute H-T and acute and late GI-T were 0.20, 0.94 and 0.58 × 10-1 in 3D-CRT; 0.19, 0.65 and 0.24 × 10-1 in IMXT; 0.04, 0.74 and 0.19 × 10-1 in SFO-PBT; and 0.06, 0.66 and 0.15 × 10-1 in ro-IMPT, respectively. Compared with 3D-CRT and IMXT plans, the ro-IMPT plan demonstrated significant reduction in acute H-T and late GI-T. The risk of acute GI-T in ro-IMPT plan is equivalent with IMXT plan. The ro-IMPT plan demonstrated potential clinical benefits for reducing the risk of acute H-T and late GI-T in the treatment of gynecologic malignances by reducing the dose to the bone marrow and bowel bag while maintaining adequate dose coverage to the CTV. Our results indicated that ro-IMPT may reduce acute H-T and late GI-T risk with potentially improving outcomes for postoperative gynecologic-malignancy patients with concurrent chemotherapy.

Abstract
Chemotherapy is one of the most common strategies for cancer treatment, whereas drug resistance reduces the efficiency of chemotherapy and leads to treatment failure. The mechanism of emerging chemoresistance is complex and the effect of extracellular matrix (ECM) surrounding cells may contribute to drug resistance. Although it is well known that ECM plays an important role in orchestrating cell functions, it remains exclusive how ECM stiffness affects drug resistance. In this study, we prepared agarose hydrogels of different stiffnesses to investigate the effect of hydrogel stiffness on the chemoresistance of breast cancer cells to doxorubicin (DOX). Agarose hydrogels with a stiffness range of 1.5 kPa to 112.3 kPa were prepared and used to encapsulate breast cancer cells for a three-dimensional culture with different concentrations of DOX. The viability of the cells cultured in the hydrogels was dependent on both DOX concentration and hydrogel stiffness. Cell viability decreased with DOX concentration when the cells were cultured in the same stiffness hydrogels. When DOX concentration was the same, breast cancer cells showed higher viability in high-stiffness hydrogels than they did in low-stiffness hydrogels. Furthermore, the expression of P-glycoprotein mRNA in high-stiffness hydrogels was higher than that in low-stiffness hydrogels. The results suggested that hydrogel stiffness could affect the resistance of breast cancer cells to DOX by regulating the expression of chemoresistance-related genes.

Abstract
Detailed examinations of the internal structure of tablets are imperative for comprehending their formulation, physical attributes, and ensuring their safe utilization. While X-ray computed tomography (CT) is valuable for noninvasively analyzing internal structural changes, the influence of humidity on these structural changes remains unexplored. Accordingly, we aimed to assess the viability of X-ray CT in non-destructively evaluating the internal structure of humidified magnesium oxide (MgO) tablets. MgO tablets were subjected to conditions of 40 °C and 75% humidity for 7 days, weighed pre- and post-humidification, and subsequently stored at room temperature (22-27 °C) until day 90. Their internal structure was evaluated using X-ray CT. We observed a substantial increase in the weight of MgO tablets concomitant with moisture absorption, with minimal changes observed upon storage at room temperature. The skewness reduced immediately post-moisture absorption, remained almost the same post-storage at room temperature, and failed to revert to pre-humidification levels during the storage period. These findings highlight the utility of X-ray CT as an effective tool for non-destructive, three-dimensional, and detailed evaluation of internal structural transformations in MgO tablets.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Portal vein thrombosis (PVT) is thought to arise from stagnant blood flow, yet conclusive evidence is lacking. Relative residence time (RRT) assessed using 4D Flow MRI may offer insight into portal flow stagnation. PURPOSE To explore the relationship between RRT values and the presence of PVT in cirrhotic participants. STUDY TYPE Prospective. POPULATION Forty-eight participants with liver cirrhosis (27 males, median age 67 years [IQR: 57-73]) and 20 healthy control participants (12 males, median age 45 years [IQR: 40-54]). FIELD STRENGTH/SEQUENCE 3 T/4D Flow MRI. ASSESSMENT Laboratory (liver and kidney function test results and platelet count) and clinical data (presence of tumors and other imaging findings), and portal hemodynamics derived from 4D Flow MRI (spatiotemporally averaged RRT [RRT-mean], flow velocity, and flow rate) were analyzed. STATISTICAL TESTS We used multivariable logistic regression, adjusted by selected covariates through the Lasso method, to explore whether RRT-mean is an independent risk factor for PVT. The area under the ROC curve (AUC) was also calculated to assess the model's discriminative ability. P < 0.05 indicated statistical significance. RESULTS The liver cirrhosis group consisted of 16 participants with PVT and 32 without PVT. Higher RRT-mean values (odds ratio [OR] 11.4 [95% CI: 2.19, 118]) and lower platelet count (OR 0.98 per 1000 μL [95% CI: 0.96, 0.99]) were independent risk factors for PVT. The incorporation of RRT-mean (AUC, 0.77) alongside platelet count (AUC, 0.75) resulted in an AUC of 0.84. When including healthy control participants, RRT-mean had an adjusted OR of 12.4 and the AUC of the combined model (RRT-mean and platelet count) was 0.90. DATA CONCLUSION Prolonged RRT values and low platelet count were significantly associated with the presence of PVT in cirrhotic participants. RRT values derived from 4D Flow MRI may have potential clinical relevance in the management of PVT. EVIDENCE LEVEL 2 TECHNICAL EFFICACY: Stage 2.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Dengue has become a major health issue in tropical regions as the numbers of reported cases and estimated infections continuously increase. In the Philippines, many challenges remain in preventing and controlling the disease amidst all the mitigation efforts of the government. This study sought to measure the health literacy of Filipino teachers and determine the associations among teachers' knowledge, attitudes, and selected practices (KAP) against dengue. METHODS Elementary and secondary school teachers from the consistently declared dengue hotspots in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga, Philippines, from the years 2017 to 2019 were selected as target participants in this cross-sectional study. A self-administered online survey tool was used in this study for both screening of participants and the KAP survey proper. STATA, descriptive statistics, and multiple logistic regression were used for the data analysis. Odds Ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were reported. RESULTS The study comprised 604 participants whose mean age was 38.4 years. Television was determined as the top media source of information, and various health staff were the most trusted and common source of information. Good knowledge on dengue treatment (OR = 1.81; 95% CI 1.18-2.78) and dengue prevention (OR = 1.85; 95% CI 1.26-2.71) were positively associated with having good practices on protection against mosquito bites. Good knowledge on dengue signs and symptoms (OR = 1.56; 95% CI 1.02-2.37) and dengue prevention (OR = 2.38; 95% CI 1.59-3.58) were positively associated with having good practices on preventing breeding sites. Those with positive perceived susceptibility to dengue had lower odds of having good practices on protection against mosquito bites (OR = 0.64; 95% CI 0.41-0.99) and of having good practices on preventing breeding sites (OR = 0.46; 95% CI 0.26-0.81). CONCLUSION Even with the existing dengue policies, programs, and strategies, and the high disease literacy rate of Filipinos, dengue remains a struggle with an increasing case rate. Therefore, specific concepts should be emphasized, and interventions should be fine-tuned to better reach and influence the target population to attain a dengue-free Philippines.

Abstract
BACKGROUND A higher number of tumor buds in the invasive front of colorectal cancer (CRC) specimens has been shown to contribute to a poor prognosis in CRC patients. Because macrophages (Mφs) have been demonstrated to alter the phenotype of cancer cells, we hypothesized that the phenotype of CRC cells in the tumor budding (TB) area might be changed by the interaction between CRC cells and Mφs. METHODS We assessed the expression of topoisomerase 1 in CRC cells to estimate the acquisition of chemoresistance in CRC. To demonstrate the tumor-stromal interaction between CRC cells and Mφs, we assessed two histological findings, the number of Mφs per single CRC cell and the proximity between CRC cells and Mφs by histological spatial analysis using HALO software. RESULTS The expression levels of topoisomerase 1 in CRC cells were decreased in deeper areas, especially in the TB area, compared to the surface area. Our histological spatial analysis revealed that 2.6 Mφs located within 60 μm of a single CRC cell were required to alter the phenotype of the CRC cell. Double-immunofluorescence staining revealed that higher Mφs were positive for interleukin-6 (IL-6) in the TB area and that AE1/AE3-positive CRC cells were also positive for phospho-STAT3 (pSTAT3) in the TB area; thus, the IL-6 receptor (IL-6R)/STAT3 signaling pathway in CRC cells was upregulated by IL-6 derived from neighboring Mφs. CONCLUSION IL-6 secreted from the neighboring Mφs would alter the phenotype of CRC cells via IL-6R/STAT3 signaling pathway.

Abstract
Heart disease-related deaths have increased in recent decades, with most patients dying of sudden cardiac arrest. In such instances, the effect of regular electrocardiogram (ECG) measurements is minimal. Therefore, long-term ECG monitoring has become increasingly important. In this paper, we report a non-adhesive high accuracy ECG monitoring system that can be used in various scenarios without interfering with daily activities. The ECG ultra-thin film electrode is made by water-resistant material based on poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) poly(4-styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT: PSS) electrode doped with ethylene glycol (EG) and xylitol, to improve the noise signal caused by sweat. The optimal ratio of the three ingredients of PEDOT: PSS/xylitol/EG was determined experimentally to accommodate the ECG monitoring. By using the proposed selectively closed multi-channel single-lead logic circuit, the noise of ECG signal received from the proposed film electrode can be successfully reduced during broad-area electrode measurements, thus to improve ECG measurement accuracy.

Abstract
Mpox has spread rapidly to many countries in nonendemic regions. After reviewing detailed exposure histories of 109 pairs of mpox cases in the Netherlands, we identified 34 pairs where transmission was likely and the infectee reported a single potential infector with a mean serial interval of 10.1 days (95% credible interval, 6.6-14.7 days). Further investigation into pairs from 1 regional public health service revealed that presymptomatic transmission may have occurred in 5 of 18 pairs. These findings emphasize that precaution remains key, regardless of the presence of recognizable symptoms of mpox.

Abstract
Here, an unprecedented phenomenon in which 7-coordinate lanthanide metallomesogens, which align via hydrogen bonds mediated by coordinated H2 O molecules, form micellar cubic mesophases at room temperature, creating body-centered cubic (BCC)-type supramolecular spherical arrays, is reported. The results of experiments and molecular dynamics simulations reveal that spherical assemblies of three complexes surrounded by an amorphous alkyl domain spontaneously align in an energetically stable orientation to form the BCC structure. This phenomenon differs greatly from the conventional self-assembling behavior of 6-coordinated metallomesogens, which form columnar assemblies due to strong intermolecular interactions. Since the magnetic and luminescent properties of different lanthanides vary, adding arbitrary functions to spherical arrays is possible by selecting suitable lanthanides to be used. The method developed in this study using 7-coordinate lanthanide metallomesogens as building blocks is expected to lead to the rational development of micellar cubic mesophases.

Abstract
Proton-conducting metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted attention as potential electrolytes for fuel cells. However, research progress in utilizing MOFs as electrolytes for fuel cells has been limited, mainly due to challenges associated with issues such as the fabrication of MOF membranes, and hydrogen crossover through the MOF's pores. Here, we report proton conductivity and fuel cell performance of a self-standing membrane prepared from of a bismuth subgallate MOF nanosheets with non-porous structure are reported. The fabricated MOF nanosheet membrane with no binding agent exhibitsed structural anisotropy. The proton conductivity in the membrane thickness direction (4.4 × 10-3 S cm-1 ) at 90 °C and RH 100% is observed to be higher than that in the in-plane direction of the membrane (3.3 × 10-5 S cm-1 ). The open circuit voltage (OCV) of a fuel cell with ≈120 µm proton conducting membrane is 1.0 V. The non-porous nature of the MOF nanosheets contributes to the relatively high OCV. A fuel cell using ≈40 µm membrane as proton conducting electrolyte records a maximum of 25 mW cm-2 power density and a maximum of 109 mA cm-2 current density with 0.91 V OCV at 80 °C in humid conditions.

Abstract
To investigate the geometric accuracy of the radiation focal point (RFP) and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) over long-term periods for the ICON Leksell Gamma Knife radiosurgery system. This phantom study utilized the ICON quality assurance tool plus, and the phantom was manually set on the patient position system before the implementation of treatment for patients. The deviation of the RFP position from the unit center point (UCP) and the positions of the four ball bearings (BBs) in the CBCT from the reference position were automatically analyzed. During 544 days, a total of 269 analyses were performed on different days. The mean ± standard deviation (SD) of the deviation between measured RFP and UCP was 0.01 ± 0.03, 0.01 ± 0.03, and -0.01 ± 0.01 mm in the X, Y, and Z directions, respectively. The deviations with offset values after the cobalt-60 source replacement (0.00 ± 0.03, -0.01 ± 0.01, and -0.01 ± 0.01 mm in the X, Y, and Z directions, respectively) were significantly (p = 0.001) smaller than those before the replacement (0.02 ± 0.03, 0.02 ± 0.01, and -0.02 ± 0.01 mm in the X, Y, and Z directions, respectively). The overall mean ± SD of four BBs was -0.03 ± 0.03, -0.01 ± 0.05, and 0.01 ± 0.03 mm in the X, Y, and Z directions, respectively. Geometric positional accuracy was ensured to be within 0.1 mm on most days over a long-term period of more than 500 days.

Abstract
Using numerical indices and visual evaluation, we evaluated the dependence of coronary-artery depictability on the denoising parameter in compressed sensing magnetic resonance angiography (CS-MRA). This study was conducted to clarify the acceleration factor (AF) and denoising factor (DF) dependence of CS-MRA image quality. Vascular phantoms and clinical images were acquired using three-dimensional CS-MRA on a clinical 1.5 T system. For the phantom measurements, we compared the full width at half maximum (FWHM), sharpness, and contrast ratio of the vascular profile curves for various AFs and DFs. In the clinical cases, the FWHM, sharpness, contrast ratio, signal-to-noise ratio, noise level values, and visual evaluation results were compared for various DFs. Phantom image analyses demonstrated that the respective measurements of the FWHM, sharpness, and contrast ratios did not significantly change with an increase in AF. The FWHM and sharpness measurements slightly changed with the DF level. However, the contrast ratio tended to increase with an increase in the DF level. In the clinical cases, the FWHM and sharpness showed no significant differences, even when the DF level was changed. However, the contrast ratio tended to decrease as the DF level increased. When the DF levels of the clinical cases increased, the background signals of the myocardium, fat, and noise levels decreased. We investigated the dependence of the coronary-artery depictability on AF and DF using CS-MRA. Analysis of the coronary-artery profile curves indicated that a better image quality was achieved with a stronger DF on coronary CS-MRA.

Abstract
A 70-year-old man undergoing treatment for immunoglobulin G4-related disease developed a liver mass on computed tomography during routine imaging examination. The tumor was located in the hepatic S1/4 region, was 38 mm in size, and showed arterial enhancement on dynamic contrast-enhanced computed tomography. We performed a liver biopsy and diagnosed moderately differentiated hepatocellular carcinoma. The patient underwent proton beam therapy. The tumor remained unchanged but enlarged after 4 years. The patient was diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma recurrence and received hepatic arterial chemoembolization. However, 1 year later, the patient developed jaundice, and the liver tumor grew in size. Unfortunately, the patient passed away. Autopsy revealed that the tumor consisted of spindle-shaped cells exhibiting nuclear atypia and a fission pattern and tested positive for α-smooth muscle actin and vimentin. No hepatocellular carcinoma components were observed, and the patient was pathologically diagnosed with hepatic leiomyosarcoma. Next-generation sequencing revealed somatic mutations in CACNA2D4, CTNNB1, DOCK5, IPO8, MTMR1, PABPC5, SEMA6D, and ZFP36L1. Based on the genetic mutation, sarcomatoid hepatocarcinoma was the most likely pathogenesis in this case. This mutation is indicative of the transition from sarcomatoid hepatocarcinoma to hepatic leiomyosarcoma.

Abstract
Nitrogen-Nitrogen (N-N) bond-containing functional groups in natural products and synthetic drugs play significant roles in exerting biological activities. The mechanisms of N-N bond formation in natural organic molecules have garnered increasing attention over the decades. Recent advances have illuminated various enzymatic and nonenzymatic strategies, and our understanding of natural N-N bond construction is rapidly expanding. A group of didomain proteins with zinc-binding cupin/methionyl-tRNA synthetase (MetRS)-like domains, also known as hydrazine synthetases, generates amino acid-based hydrazines, which serve as key biosynthetic precursors of diverse N-N bond-containing functionalities such as hydrazone, diazo, triazene, pyrazole, and pyridazinone groups. In this review, we summarize the current knowledge on hydrazine synthetase mechanisms and the various pathways employing this unique bond-forming machinery.
