Abstract
BACKGROUND The organ most commonly invaded in echinococcosis is the liver; the lungs, brain, kidneys, heart, and spleen are rarely invaded, and multi-organ involvement in echinococcosis is even rarer. No studies have reported renal invasion after liver transplantation for hepatic alveolar echinococcosis. CASE PRESENTATION We report here a case of renal invasion 2 years after allogeneic liver transplantation in a 53-year-old female patient with hepatic alveolar echinococcosis combined with lung metastases. At the time of the first consultation, the lesion had been found to involve the second hepatic hilum combined with lung metastases, but the patient requested conservative treatment, and the lesion was not controlled by taking albendazole for 3 years. After discussion in the treatment group, it was decided to use allogeneic liver transplantation and lung segmental resection for surgical treatment, after which the patient was put on long-term oral immunosuppression. She was hospitalized 2 years later for low back pain and diagnosed with renal alveolar echinococcosis. Due to significant compression and left-sided renal insufficiency, the final option was to remove the diseased kidney. It is worth mentioning that signs of unexplained urinary tract infection were present throughout the course of treatment. CONCLUSION This study suggests that extra attention should be paid to the presence of cryptogenic lesions in patients with hepatic alveolar echinococcosis who already have definite metastatic lesions. Immunosuppressive drugs after liver transplantation in patients with hepatic echinococcosis may cause occult lesions to develop into active ones. In clinical practice, particular attention should be paid to patients with hepatic alveolar echinococcosis with long-term concomitant signs of unexplained urinary tract infections, which may be a precursor clinical feature of cryptogenic renal alveolar echinococcosis.

Abstract
The leaf-like zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF-L) is a promising porous nanomaterial that has attracted increasing attention as an ideal host material to encapsulate functional fluorescent nanoparticles for designing fluorescent sensors. However, owing to the large particle size, gravity readily facilitates the precipitation of the ZIF-L from the aqueous solution, and thus lead to imperfect experimental results. Herein, we report a simple and rapid synthetic method which uses the polyethyleneimine (PEI)-modified ZIF-L as a host to solve the precipitation problem and construct a dual-emitting system that combines its fluorescence with carbon dots (CDs). Furthermore, CDs@ZIF-L/PEI with dual-emitting centres could be utilised as a ratio fluorescence sensor to detect Hg2+ ions. The sensor exhibited excellent dispersibility and good selectivity for sensing Hg2+ ions, with a limit of detection (LOD) of 14.5 nM. Furthermore, experimental results reveal that the CDs@ZIF-L/PEI fluorescent sensor could be effectively dispersed into agarose and less polar organic solvents such as DMF, MeOH, EtOH and CH3CN, expanding the application scope of the fluorescent sensor.

Abstract
Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness globally. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) play vital roles in various biological processes as microRNA (miRNA) sponges and, thus, have been investigated as potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets in numerous human diseases. However, the underlying mechanisms of circRNAs in the pathogenesis of glaucoma remain unclear. Therefore, transcriptome sequencing was performed to identify relevant circRNAs in peripheral blood samples from patients with primary angle-closure glaucoma. Bioinformatics analysis was performed to investigate the potential roles of differentially expressed circRNAs (DEcircRNAs) in the pathogenesis of glaucoma. In total, 481 differentially expressed genes in addition to 345 DEcircRNAs were identified in patients with glaucoma. Based on a public database, targeted gene analysis identified 11 DEcircRNAs that potentially regulate the expression of five genes as miRNA sponges in glaucoma. In addition, quantitative reverse transcription PCR analysis verified that expression of the circRNA hsa-circ-0000745 was positively correlated with the expression of NEAT1 as a potential target gene. These results suggest that DEcircRNAs are involved in a gene expression regulatory network related to immune cell function and progression of glaucoma. Thus, DEcircRNAs in peripheral blood are potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for glaucoma.

Abstract
Echinococcosis is a zoonotic parasitic disease caused by infection with Echinococcus species. As the drug of first choice for treatment of echinococcosis, albendazole suffers from problems of large doses and remarkable adverse reactions in clinical therapy. Development of novel drugs against echinococcosis is of urgent need. Recently, great advances have been achieved in the research on traditional Chinese medicine for treatment of echinococcosis. This review summarizes the progress of researches on traditional Chinese medicine for treatment of echinococcosis, aiming to provide insights into development of anti-echinococcosis drugs.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To examine multiple genotypes of Ophiocordyceps sinensis in a semi-quantitative manner in the stromal fertile portion (SFP) densely covered with numerous ascocarps and ascospores of natural Cordyceps sinensis and to outline the dynamic alterations of the coexisting O. sinensis genotypes in different developmental phases. METHODS Mature Cordyceps sinensis specimens were harvested and continuously cultivated in our laboratory (altitude 2,254 m). The SFPs (with ascocarps) and fully and semi-ejected ascospores were collected for histological and molecular examinations. Biochip-based single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry (MS) was used to genotype multiple O. sinensis mutants in the SFPs and ascospores. RESULTS Microscopic analysis revealed distinct morphologies of the SFPs (with ascocarps) before and after ascospore ejection and SFP of developmental failure, which, along with the fully and semi-ejected ascospores, were subjected to SNP MS genotyping analysis. Mass spectra showed the coexistence of GC- and AT-biased genotypes of O. sinensis that were genetically and phylogenetically distinct in the SFPs before and after ejection and of developmental failure and in fully and semi-ejected ascospores. The intensity ratios of MS peaks were dynamically altered in the SFPs and the fully and semi-ejected ascospores. Mass spectra also showed transversion mutation alleles of unknown upstream and downstream sequences with altered intensities in the SFPs and ascospores. Genotype #5 of AT-biased Cluster-A maintained a high intensity in all SFPs and ascospores. An MS peak with a high intensity containing AT-biased Genotypes #6 and #15 in pre-ejection SFPs was significantly attenuated after ascospore ejection. The abundance of Genotypes #5‒6 and #16 of AT-biased Cluster-A was differentially altered in the fully and semi-ejected ascospores that were collected from the same Cordyceps sinensis specimens. CONCLUSION Multiple O. sinensis genotypes coexisted in different combinations with altered abundances in the SFPs prior to and after ejection, the SFP of developmental failure, and the two types of ascospores of Cordyceps sinensis, demonstrating their genomic independence. Metagenomic fungal members present in different combinations and with dynamic alterations play symbiotic roles in different compartments of natural Cordyceps sinensis.

Abstract
Preoperative neoadjuvant chemotherapy is one of the most common treatments for patients with advanced gastric cancer that cannot be completely removed by surgery. Nab-paclitaxel is a nano-formulation of paclitaxel that has been shown to be effective in treating stomach cancer. In addition, oxaliplatin + S-1 (SOX) has been a first-line chemotherapy regimen for gastric cancer, and it has the effect of tumor downstaging, improving the R0 resection rate, and reducing the postoperative recurrence rate, but the side effects are significant. During the application of oxaliplatin, obvious gastrointestinal reactions such as nausea and vomiting can be observed. There may also be blood system side effects such as leukopenia and thrombocytopenia, as well as serious adverse reactions such as peripheral neuropathy. Therefore, we reduced the amount of oxaliplatin in SOX and added nab-paclitaxel on the basis of this, in order to increase the efficacy while reducing the side effects of SOX regimen. We selected 192 patients with advanced gastric cancer admitted to the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology of Qinghai University Hospital from July 2019 to February 2022, and all were treated with nab-paclitaxel plus oxaliplatin + S-1 neoadjuvant chemotherapy regimen, and underwent further surgery after chemotherapy. The tumor regression grade (TRG grade) and response evaluation criteria of solid tumor 1.1 (RECIST1.1) were taken as the dependent variables. According to TRG classification, 120 patients were effective (grade 0, 1, 2 = 62.50%, age: 55.63 ± 9.02 years), 72 patients were ineffective (grade 3 = 37.50%, 55.82 ± 9.21 years), and the effective rate of chemotherapy was 62.50%. According to RECIST1.1, 116 patients were effective (CR + PR = 60.42%, mean age 55.84 ± 9.02 years), 76 patients were ineffective (SD + PD = 39.58%, 55.47 ± 9.19 years), and the effective rate was 60.42%. The factors p < 0.2 in univariate logistic regression analysis were included in multivariate logistic regression analysis, and p < 0.05 was the statistical difference, and statistically significant factors were screened out for modeling and plotted the nomogram. Among them, in the tumor regression grade, the final factors related to effective chemotherapy are the degree of differentiation, cT. stage, tumor diameter, chemotherapy cycle, and the final factors related to effective chemotherapy in the solid tumor response evaluation criteria are the degree of differentiation, cT. stage, tumor diameter. Therefore, we conclude that the regimen of nab-paclitaxel combined with oxaliplatin and S-1 has certain positive significance in the treatment of advanced gastric cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES The epidemiology of stroke at high altitudes has not been extensively studied, especially at heights of 4000 m and above. Thus, stroke prevention and treatment at high altitudes are challenging. We conducted a cross-sectional study to estimate the prevalence of stroke, the detection rate of individuals at high risk of stroke and the risk factors for stroke in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in China, a high altitude plateau that inhabits approximately 15 million people. DESIGN A population-based cross-sectional study in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. SETTING Data were collected from participants through face-to-face screening using a primary screening table. The table relied on the China National Stroke Screening and Prevention Project. PARTICIPANTS A total of 10 700 residents aged ≥40 years and living on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau for more than 6 months participated from January 2019 to December 2021. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES The primary screening table included basic demographic information, medical history information, personal lifestyle habits and physical examination information. RESULTS A total of 10 056 people were included in the analysis. The prevalence of stroke was 2.3% (95% CI 2.0% to 2.6%), and the detection rate of individuals at high risk of stroke was 26.2% (95% CI 25.3% to 27.0%). The prevalence of stroke and the detection rate of individuals at high risk of stroke increased with altitude (p<0.01), and the prevalence of stroke at high altitudes was almost 2.2 times that at mid-altitudes (p<0.01). After full adjustments, age, residence, hypertension, family history of stroke and smoking were significantly associated with stroke (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS The prevalence of stroke, the related risk factors and the detection rate of high-risk individuals were clarified. The prevalence rates of hypertension, overweight or obesity and diabetes in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau were all higher than the Chinese average. Higher-altitude exposure may be an independent risk factor for stroke.

Abstract
In order to overcome the problems of poor corrosion resistance and low hydrophobicity of water-based coatings. Two corrosion-inhibiting materials, graphene oxide (GO) and modified chitosan (MCS), were added to the coatings to obtain a new type of coating with comprehensive properties. The composite material formed by PVA cross-linked waterborne epoxy resin was named "substrate". The density functional theory (DFT) calculation was used to explore the binding ability of MCS and GO-grafted MCS to the substrate, respectively. The results showed that the complex cross-linked network structure formed by the grafting of GO and MCS not only improved the intermolecular interaction force but also improved the binding ability to the substrate, and the coating is denser, effectively delaying the erosion to the coating by the corrosive medium. The composite coating exhibited excellent dual functional properties of hydrophobicity and corrosion resistance at the coating-metal interface, and a stronger protective effect was formed upon the steel plate. Studies showed that this composite coating has good hydrophobic properties. (The contact angle of the composite waterborne coating reaches 87°.) It also has low self-corrosion current (0.28/cm-2) and high corrosion voltage (-0.45 V). The maximum inhibition efficiency of the coating is 99.97%.

Abstract
Objective The effect of endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) in acute ischemic stroke patients with prestroke disability (modified Rankin Scale score, mRS) ≥2) has not been well-studied. This study aimed to assess the safety and benefit of EVT in patients with prestroke disability. Methods According to PRISMA guidelines, literature searching was performed using PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane databases, for a series of acute ischemic stroke patients with prestroke mRS ≥2 treated by EVT. Random-effects meta-analysis was used to pool the rate of return to prestroke mRS and mortality at 3-month follow-up. Results In total, 13 observational studies, with 2,625 patients, were analyzed. The rates of return to prestroke mRS in patients with prestroke mRS of 2–4 were 20% (120/588), 27% (218/827), and 31% (34/108), respectively. Patients with prestroke disability treated by EVT had a higher likelihood of return to prestroke mRS (relative risk, RR, 1.86; 95% CI 1.28–2.70) and a lower likelihood of mortality (RR 0.75; 95%CI 0.58–0.97) compared with patients with standard medical treatment. Successful recanalization (Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction grade 2b-3) after EVT gave a higher likelihood of return to prestroke mRS (RR 2.04; 95% CI 1.17–3.55) and lower mortality (RR 0.72; 95% CI 0.62–0.84) compared with unsuccessful reperfusion. Conclusions Acute ischemic stroke patients with prestroke disability may benefit from EVT. Withholding EVT on the sole ground of prestroke disabilities may not be justified. Abstract
Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) are a new type of oral hypoglycaemic agent with good cardiovascular protective effects. There are several lines of clinical evidence suggest that SGLT2i can significantly reduce the risks of heart failure, cardiovascular death, and delay the progression of chronic kidney disease. In addition, recent basic and clinical studies have also reported that SGLT2i also has good anti-arrhythmic effects. However, the exact mechanism is poorly understood. The aim of this review is to summarize recent clinical findings, studies of laboratory animals, and related study about this aspect of the antiarrhythmic effects of SGLT2i, to further explore its underlying mechanisms, safety, and prospects for clinical applications of it.

Abstract
As one of the most important oil crops, rapeseed (Brassica napus) is cultivated worldwide to produce vegetable oil, animal feed, and biodiesel. As the population grows and the need for renewable energy increases, the breeding and cultivation of high-yield rapeseed varieties have become top priorities. The formation of a high rapeseed yield is so complex because it is influenced not only by genetic mechanisms but also by many environmental conditions, such as climatic conditions and different farming practices. Interestingly, many high-yield areas are located in special eco-environments, for example, in the high-altitude Xiangride area of the Qinghai Plateau. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the formation of high yields in such a special eco-environment area remain largely unknown. Here, we conducted field yield analysis and transcriptome analysis in the Xiangride area. Compared with the yield and environmental factors in the Xinning area (a low-yielding area), we found that the relatively longer daylight length is the key to high rapeseed yield in the Xiangride area, which leads up to a 52.1% increase in rapeseed yield, especially the increase in thousand seed weight and silique number (SN). Combined with transcriptome H-cluster analysis and Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) functional analyses, we can assume that the grain development of rapeseed in the Xiangride area is ahead of schedule and lasts for a long time, leading to the high-yield results in the Xiangride area, confirmed by the expression analysis by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) of yield-related genes. Our results provide valuable information for further exploring the molecular mechanism underlying high yield in special ecological environments and provide a helpful reference for studying seed development characteristics in special-producing regions for Brassica napus.

Abstract
Autotrophic carbon-fixing bacteria are a major driver of carbon sequestration and elemental cycling in grassland ecosystems. The characteristics of the response of carbon-fixing bacterial communities to nitrogen (N) addition in degraded alpine meadows are unclear. In this study, it was investigated that the effects of N addition in three levels [they are low (LN), middle (MN), and high (HN) with N supplement of 2, 5, and 10 g N⋅m-2⋅a-1, respectively] on soil carbon-fixing bacteria on different slopes in a degraded alpine meadow in the Yellow River on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The results showed that there were significant differences in the abundance of some low abundance genera of carbon-fixing bacteria on the same slope (P < 0.05), but the differences in the abundance of various phyla and dominant genera were not significant. MN on gentle slopes significantly reduced the Chao1 index and observed species (P < 0.05), whereas N addition on steep slopes had no significant effect on the diversity. The abundance of the Cyanobacteria phylum and 28 genera of identified carbon-fixing bacteria differed significantly between slopes (P < 0.05), and observed species of carbon-fixing bacteria were significantly higher on steep slopes than on gentle slopes (P < 0.05). Factors affecting the carbon-fixing bacteria community structure include slope, N addition, ammoniacal nitrogen (N-NH4 +), microbial biomass carbon (MBC), soil water content (SWC), pH, soil C:N ratio, and microbial C:N ratio. Slope, N addition, soil physicochemical properties, microbial biomass, and stoichiometric ratio did not significantly affect the carbon-fixing bacteria diversity. Thus, the effect of exogenous N addition on carbon-fixing bacteria in degraded alpine meadows was dependent on slope conditions, and the response of carbon-fixing bacteria abundance and species number to N addition on gently slope sites was threshold-limited.

Abstract
Objective This study aimed to investigate the effects of long-term hypoxic environment exposure on cognitive ability and neuroimaging characteristics in a highland population in China. Methods Health system workers in Maduo County (4,300 m above sea level) and Minhe County (1,700 m above sea level) were selected as research participants and divided into a high-altitude (HA) group and low-altitude (LA) group, respectively. Cognitive ability was assessed using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), Verbal Fluency Test (VFT), Symbol Digit Modalities Test (SDMT), Trail Making Test A and B (TMT), Digit Span Test (DST), and Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (RAVLT). All participants underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan, resting state functional MRI scan, and diffusion tensor imaging to clarify changes in regional gray matter (GM) volume, anisotropy index (FA), local consistency (ReHo), and low-frequency oscillation amplitude (ALFF). Results The HA group had significantly lower MoCA, DST, VFT, RAVLT, and TMT scores compared to the control group. No significant differences were found in SDMT score. Furthermore, compared to the LA group, the HA group had significantly lower GM density of the left olfactory cortex, right medial orbital superior frontal gyrus, bilateral insula, left globus pallidus, and temporal lobe (left superior temporal gyrus temporal pole, bilateral middle temporal gyrus temporal pole, and right middle temporal gyrus). In terms of FA, compared with the LA group, the HA group had lower values for the corpus callosum, corpus callosum knee, bilateral radiative corona, and left internal capsule. The HA group had lower ALFF values of the left cerebellum, left putamen, left orbital inferior frontal gyrus, and left precuneus, but higher ALFF values of the left fusiform gyrus, bilateral inferior temporal gyrus, left orbital superior frontal gyrus and medial superior frontal gyrus, compared to the LA group. There was no significant group difference in ReHo values. Conclusion Our findings suggest that a chronic hypoxic environment can induce extensive cognitive impairment. Decreased GM density in multiple brain regions, damaged nerve fibers, and unbalanced neuronal activity intensity in different brain regions may be the structural and functional basis of cognitive impairment due to hypoxia.

Abstract
Gastrointestinal tract and dietary fiber (DF) are known to influence gut microbiome composition. However, the combined effect of gut segment and long-term intake of a high fiber diet on pig gut microbiota and metabolite profiles is unclear. Here, we applied 16S rRNA gene sequencing and untargeted metabolomics to investigate the effect of broad bean silage on the composition and metabolites of the cecal and jejunal microbiome in Durco × Bamei crossbred pigs. Twenty-four pigs were allotted to four graded levels of DF chow, and the content of jejunum and cecum were collected. Our results demonstrated that cecum possessed higher α-diversity and abundance of Bacteroidetes, unidentified Ruminococcaceae compared to jejunum, while jejunum possessed higher abundance of Lactobacillus, Streptococcus. DF intake significantly altered diversity of the bacterial community. The abundance of Bacteroidetes and Turicibacter increased with the increase of DF in cecum and jejunum respectively. Higher concentrations of amino acids and conjugated bile acids were detected in the jejunum, whereas free bile acids and fatty acids were enriched in the cecum. The concentrations of fatty acids, carbohydrate metabolites, organic acids, 2-oxoadipic acid, and succinate in cecum were higher in the high DF groups. Overall, the results indicate that the composition of bacteria and the microbiota metabolites were distinct in different gut segments. DF had a significant influence on the bacterial composition and structure in the cecum and jejunum, and that the cecal metabolites may further affect host health, growth, and slaughter performance.

Abstract
Herein, metastable spheroidal vaterite calcium carbonate (CaCO3) was prepared using a simple ultrasound technique. The fabricated material comprises an irregular nanoparticle aggregate when steamed ammonia liquid waste, that is, (CaCl2) and (NH4)2CO3, is used as the raw material at atmospheric temperature, without any surfactants. The effects of ultrasound amplitude, probe immersion depth, and solution volume on particle properties were investigated. The obtained samples were identified and characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller technique. Our experiments show that the probe immersion depth and the reaction volume are the key parameters that impact the diameter size and size distribution of the fabricated spheroidal vaterite CaCO3 particles. The ultrasound amplitude considerably affected the particle size and the specific surface area. A possible formation mechanism for pure vaterite is proposed herein, which suggests that simple vaterite CaCO3 is formed owing to the special properties of steamed ammonia liquid waste and the synergistic effects of the ultrasonic system. This study may provide a new method for vaterite CaCO3 synthesis.
