Abstract
As the contribution of de novo mutations (DNMs) to human genetic diseases has been gradually uncovered, analyzing the global research landscape over the past 20 years is essential. Because of the large and rapidly increasing number of publications in this field, understanding the current landscape of the contribution of DNMs in the human genome to genetic diseases remains a challenge. Bibliometric analysis provides an approach for visualizing these studies using information in published records in a specific field. This study aimed to illustrate the current global research status and explore trends in the field of DNMs underlying genetic diseases. Bibliometric analyses were performed using the Bibliometrix Package based on the R language version 4.1.3 and CiteSpace version 6.1.R2 software for publications from 2000 to 2021 indexed under the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) about DNMs underlying genetic diseases on 17 September 2022. We identified 3435 records, which were published in 731 journals by 26,538 authors from 6052 institutes in 66 countries. There was an upward trend in the number of publications since 2013. The USA, China, and Germany contributed the majority of the records included. The University of Washington, Columbia University, and Baylor College of Medicine were the top-producing institutions. Evan E Eichler of the University of Washington, Stephan J Sanders of the Yale University School of Medicine, and Ingrid E Scheffer of the University of Melbourne were the most high-ranked authors. Keyword co-occurrence analysis suggested that DNMs in neurodevelopmental disorders and intellectual disabilities were research hotspots and trends. In conclusion, our data show that DNMs have a significant effect on human genetic diseases, with a noticeable increase in annual publications over the last 5 years. Furthermore, potential hotspots are shifting toward understanding the causative role and clinical interpretation of newly identified or low-frequency DNMs observed in patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Artificial intelligence (AI) has garnered considerable attention in the context of sepsis research, particularly in personalized diagnosis and treatment. Conducting a bibliometric analysis of existing publications can offer a broad overview of the field and identify current research trends and future research directions. OBJECTIVE The objective of this study is to leverage bibliometric data to provide a comprehensive overview of the application of AI in sepsis. METHODS We conducted a search in the Web of Science Core Collection database to identify relevant articles published in English until August 31, 2023. A predefined search strategy was used, evaluating titles, abstracts, and full texts as needed. We used the Bibliometrix and VOSviewer tools to visualize networks showcasing the co-occurrence of authors, research institutions, countries, citations, and keywords. RESULTS A total of 259 relevant articles published between 2014 and 2023 (until August) were identified. Over the past decade, the annual publication count has consistently risen. Leading journals in this domain include Critical Care Medicine (17/259, 6.6%), Frontiers in Medicine (17/259, 6.6%), and Scientific Reports (11/259, 4.2%). The United States (103/259, 39.8%), China (83/259, 32%), United Kingdom (14/259, 5.4%), and Taiwan (12/259, 4.6%) emerged as the most prolific countries in terms of publications. Notable institutions in this field include the University of California System, Emory University, and Harvard University. The key researchers working in this area include Ritankar Das, Chris Barton, and Rishikesan Kamaleswaran. Although the initial period witnessed a relatively low number of articles focused on AI applications for sepsis, there has been a significant surge in research within this area in recent years (2014-2023). CONCLUSIONS This comprehensive analysis provides valuable insights into AI-related research conducted in the field of sepsis, aiding health care policy makers and researchers in understanding the potential of AI and formulating effective research plans. Such analysis serves as a valuable resource for determining the advantages, sustainability, scope, and potential impact of AI models in sepsis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Kawasaki disease is a systemic vascular disease with an unclear pathophysiology that primarily affects children under the age of five. Research on immune control in Kawasaki disease has been gaining attention. This study aims to apply a bibliometric analysis to examine the present and future directions of immune control in Kawasaki disease. METHODS By utilizing the themes "Kawasaki disease," "Kawasaki syndrome," and "immune control," the Web of Science Core Collection database was searched for publications on immune control in Kawasaki disease. This bibliometric analysis was carried out using VOSviewers, CiteSpace, and the R package "bibliometrix." RESULTS In total, 294 studies on immune control in Kawasaki disease were published in Web of Science Core Collection. The three most significant institutions were Chang Gung University, the University of California San Diego, and Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. China, the United States, and Japan were the three most important countries. In this research field, Clinical and Experimental Immunology was the top-referred journal, while the New England Journal of Medicine was the most co-cited journal. The Web of Science Core Collection document by McCrindle BW et al. published in 2017 was the most cited reference. Additionally, the author keywords concentrated on "COVID-19," "SARS-CoV-2," and "multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children" in recent years. CONCLUSION The research trends and advancements in immune control in Kawasaki disease are thoroughly summarised in this bibliometric analysis, which is the first to do so. The data indicate recent research frontiers and hot directions, making it easier for researchers to study the immune control of Kawasaki disease.

Abstract
Polycythemia vera (PV) is a myeloproliferative tumor with low incidence and complex symptoms, affecting patients' quality of life and shortening their life span. Since the beginning of the 21st century, there has been an update but a need for uniform consensus regarding diagnosing and treating PV. With the continued interest of researchers in this field, a bibliometric study of PV is necessary. This paper aims to analyze articles on PV through bibliometric software to provide collaborative information and new ideas for researchers in this field. We collected PV-related publications in the Web of Science Core Collection database from 2000 to 2023. The included literature was analyzed using Citespace (6.2.R2), VOSviewer (1.6.19), and Bibliometrix. The study included country/region, institution, authors, journals, keywords, and references, and a visual knowledge network diagram was constructed. Microsoft Excel 2013 was also used for statistical analysis. A total of 1,093 articles were eventually included. The number of PV-related publications has steadily increased from 2000 to the present, with great potential for future growth. The US and US institutions have contributed more to this field, with the US ranking first in the number of publications, total citations, and centrality. Alessandro M. Vannucchi is the most published author. Tefferi, Ayalew is the most cited author. And BLOOD has the most publications, topping the list of the eleven high-productivity core source journals. The most cited article was "Acquired mutation of the tyrosine kinase JAK2 in human myeloproliferative disorders" (Baxter, EJ, 2005). By examining the keywords, we found that the diagnosis and typing of true erythrocytosis, the use of ruxolitinib, and the tyrosine kinase JAK2 are the research hotspots in the field; genetic and molecular research in the field of true erythrocytosis is a cutting-edge topic in the field; and risk factors for true erythrocytosis is a cutting-edge hotspot issue in the field. The fruitful research in this century has laid the foundation for developing the field of PV. The information in this article will provide researchers with current hotspots and future potential in the discipline, helping the field achieve more extraordinary breakthroughs. Currently, research should focus on increasing global multicenter collaborative research in diagnosis and treatment to develop scientifically recognized diagnostic and treatment protocols and new clinical drug research. Our proposed model of global innovation collaboration will provide strong support for future research.

Abstract
Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA) has been demonstrated to be an effective intervention for various shoulder disorders. The number of rTSA-related studies performed has increased annually over the past three decades. The Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery had the highest number of publications and citations in the rTSA-related research domain and is therefore considered to be the most influential journal in this field. The USA published the most publications and established a high degree of cooperation with many countries worldwide. The University of Florida, the Hospital for Special Surgery, and Rush University, Mayo Clinic were representative and active institutions in this field. It is anticipated that advancements in prosthesis design, specifically with regards to lateralized design concepts, expanding indications for rTSA, a trend toward younger patient populations, and the management of postoperative complications will emerge as research hotspots in the following years. The most valuable publications, influential journals, major researchers, and leading countries were analyzed. The findings of our study will help researchers gain insights into current research hotspots and frontiers and shape their research focus in the field of rTSA.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic, multisystem autoimmune disorder. When SLE occurs in individuals under the age of 18, it is referred to as childhood-onset SLE (cSLE). Currently, there is a dearth of bibliometric research pertaining to cSLE. METHOD Relevant studies in the field of cSLE from 2000 to 2022 were screened from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). CiteSpace and VOSviewer software were used to visualize the annual publications, countries, institutions, authors, journals, keywords, and references, after which the authors conducted the scientific analysis. RESULTS A total of 2857 articles were included in this study, and the number of articles published in the past 20 years showed an overall upwards trend. The most prolific countries are the United States, China, and Brazil; however, the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom are clearly superior in terms of literary influence, and there is more cooperation between them and their institutions. LUPUS (n = 389) contributed the most to the variance. Brunner, HI's contribution in the field of cSLE is outstanding. The words related to 'lupus nephritis' and 'antibodies' are important words reflected in the keyword network diagram. The keywords included 'evidence-based recommendation', 'validation', 'diagnosis' and 'adult' from 2019, and 'continuous bursts' to the present. CONCLUSION This study examined the research status of cSLE patients, discussed and analysed the research hotspots and trends in this field, and provided a reference for further research in this field to promote the development of cSLE research.

Abstract
PURPOSE Alcohol is implicated in epileptogenesis and seizures attack. An increasing number of studies about alcohol and epilepsy have been published. We aimed to assess research trends and hot spots in the field of alcohol and epilepsy. PATIENTS AND METHODS Literature concerning alcohol and epilepsy was systemically searched through the Web of Science database. Collaborative maps were quantitatively analyzed by using the VOSviewer and CiteSpace tools. RESULTS A total of 1578 papers about the field of alcohol and epilepsy were taken into analysis, which was written by 6840 authors from 2153 institutions in 85 countries, published in 676 journals, and cited 79 667 references from 10 750 journals. The United States was the leading country and had close ties with others. The University of Toronto was the most productive institution. Alcoholism-clinical and experimental research was the fastest-growing journal. Richard J. Bodnar was the author contributing the most literature. Analysis of keywords showed epilepsy, alcohol, seizures, alcohol withdrawal, and management were common themes. CONCLUSION The presented study conducted the first bibliometric analysis of the field of alcohol and epilepsy, which will provide insights into the latest progress, evolution paths, frontier research hot spots, and future research trends in the field.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Meningiomas, the most prevalent benign intracranial neoplasms, have been studied extensively for many years, but significant problems remain. To date, there is a scarcity of detailed studies elucidating the hotspots and future directions of meningiomas research. METHODS A comprehensive search and screening strategy was used to collect relevant studies published between 2011 and 2021 in the Web of Science Core Collection database. Thorough and systematic coauthorship and co-occurrence keyword maps were generated, and tables of statistics summarizing countries, organizations, authors, and keywords were created. RESULTS A total of 1544 articles meeting the screening criteria were collected. The countries producing the most publications between 2011 and 2021 were the United States, Germany, and China, with 586, 244, and 197 records, repectively. The cooperation networks also revolved mainly around these 3 countries, particularly the United States. The most frequently used keyword was "surgery," followed by "recurrence" and "management," with the frequencies of 248, 212, and 163, respectively. The most prominent cluster during the last decade was the #0 methylation cluster, and several keywords, including "survival," "brain invasion," and "magnetic resonance imaging," exhibited significant burst strength. CONCLUSIONS This study aimed to provide a comprehensive analysis of the research landscape and to identify potential research directions. Our findings disclose productive individuals and institutions. The current research focuses on the molecular pathology of meningiomas, improvements in techniques, and advances in diagnosis by magnetic resonance imaging. In particular, the improvements in molecular pathology might direct future research directions.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To explore the context and hotspot changes of forensic mixed stain research through bibliometric approach. METHODS The literature of forensic mixed stain included in the core collection of Web of Science database from 2011 to 2022 were collected as the study object, and the annual publication number, countrie (region), institution, journal, keywords, etc. were bibliometrically and visually analyzed using the R-based Bibliometrix 1.1.6 package and VOSviewer 1.6.18 software. RESULTS A total of 732 articles on forensic mixed stain were included from 2011 to 2022, with the annual number of articles published and the annual citation frequency showing a steady increase year by year. Among the 59 countries (regions) with the most published articles, the United States ranked first with 246 articles, followed by China with 153 articles. The literature came from 104 journals, and the total number of articles published in the top 10 journals was 633. FORENSIC SCI INT GENET ranked first with 307 articles. Visual analysis using VOSviewer software showed that keywords could be divided into four research clusters, namely the genetic marker development group (blue), the mixed stain typing analysis theory group (red), the sequencing analysis group (yellow), and the case sample research group (green). It can be divided into four development stages in terms of different time periods: early development (2011-2013), middle development (2014-2016), rapid development (2017-2020) and latest development (2021-2022). CONCLUSIONS The number of publications by domestic and foreign scholars in the study of mixed stain in forensic science is showing a relatively stable trend. Machine learning, next generation sequencing and other research have been the hottest topics that have attracted the most attention in recent years, which is expected to further develop the theory of mixed stain typing and sequencing analysis in forensic mixed stain research.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To analyze the literature on artificial intelligence in forensic research from 2012 to 2022 in the Web of Science Core Collection Database, to explore research hotspots and developmental trends. METHODS A total of 736 articles on artificial intelligence in forensic medicine in the Web of Science Core Collection Database from 2012 to 2022 were visualized and analyzed through the literature measuring tool CiteSpace. The authors, institution, country (region), title, journal, keywords, cited references and other information of relevant literatures were analyzed. RESULTS A total of 736 articles published in 220 journals by 355 authors from 289 institutions in 69 countries (regions) were identified, with the number of articles published showing an increasing trend year by year. Among them, the United States had the highest number of publications and China ranked the second. Academy of Forensic Science had the highest number of publications among the institutions. Forensic Science International, Journal of Forensic Sciences, International Journal of Legal Medicine ranked high in publication and citation frequency. Through the analysis of keywords, it was found that the research hotspots of artificial intelligence in the forensic field mainly focused on the use of artificial intelligence technology for sex and age estimation, cause of death analysis, postmortem interval estimation, individual identification and so on. CONCLUSIONS It is necessary to pay attention to international and institutional cooperation and to strengthen the cross-disciplinary research. Exploring the combination of advanced artificial intelligence technologies with forensic research will be a hotspot and direction for future research.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The treatment and understanding of superior semicircular canal dehiscence (SSCD) has seen significant developments over the past 25 years. Bibliographic analysis can provide insight into the evolution of research as well as highlight emerging areas. Reviewing a large volume of publications provides valuable insights into the citation patterns and collaborations of research groups. This study seeks to offer a comprehensive historical overview of SSCD and leading authors. DATABASE REVIEWED Web of Science Core Collection METHODS: A bibliometric analysis of the current literature on SSCD was conducted. A performance analysis and science mapping of the top 100 most cited articles was completed using a citation analysis. Two independent reviewers evaluated articles for relevance and adjugated by a third reviewer. Author and institution networks were examined. RESULTS 791 articles on the topic of SSCD were identified. The top 100 articles spanned over 23 years from 1998 to 2019 and were published in 30 different journals. The top 100 articles were cited 8253 times in literature. The document contents revealed 233 keywords and 238 author keywords. The articles were authored by a total of 291 authors, with only 4 single-authored documents. CONCLUSIONS SSCD has been highly researched in aspects of symptomatology, diagnosis, and treatment, as indicated by many highly cited articles that relate. However, the production of highly cited articles on SSCD displays a significant decrease after 2013, with only 17 of the top cited articles published since then.

Abstract
Objective Over the last two decades, the quantity of papers published in relation to robotic surgery in obstetrics and gynecology has continued to grow globally. However, no bibliometric analysis based on VOSviewer has been performed to evaluate the past and present of global research in the field. In this study, we aimed to analyze the bibliometric characteristics of papers on robotic surgery in obstetrics and gynecology to reveal research hotspots and trends in this field. Methods The Web of Science Core Collection was searched for scientific papers on robotic surgery in obstetrics and gynecology published between January 1, 1998 and December 31, 2023. Bibliometric metadata of each selected paper was extracted for analysis. The results were visualized by VOSviewer (version 1.6.18). Results A total of 1,430 papers met the inclusion criteria. The United States had the highest total link strengths and contributed the most papers (n = 793). The Mayo Clinic produced the largest number of papers (n = 85), and Professor Pedro T Ramirez contributed the most papers (n = 36). The number of citations ranged from 0 to 295 with a total sum of 29,103. The Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology published the most relevant papers (n = 252). Keywords were classified into six clusters based on co-occurrence data, of which cluster 1, cluster 4 and cluster 6 had more main keywords with the largest average publication year. Conclusions This is the first VOSviewer-based bibliometric analysis of robotic surgery research in obstetrics and gynecology. The United States was the leading country, and the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology was the most productive journal in the field. Scientists and institutions from around the world should push their boundaries to bring about deep collaboration. The main research topic has always been the use of robotic surgery in the treatment of gynecologic malignancies. More randomized controlled trials need to be conducted to compare surgical outcomes of robotic surgery with other surgical approaches. Robotic sacrocolpopexy for pelvic organ prolapse has become a new research hotspot, and robotic surgery for sentinel lymph node detection in gynecologic malignancies are more potential directions for future research.

Abstract
Background Cardiac troponin (cTn) is a reliable marker for evaluating myocardial damage. cTn is a very specific protein involved in myocardial injury, and it is a key factor in the diagnosis of coronary syndromes. Bibliometric analysis was applied in the present work, with the main goal of evaluating global research on the topic of cardiac troponin in pediatric populations. Methods Publications about cardiac troponin and physical activity in pediatric populations were retrieved from the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) and the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) of the Web of Science Core Collection, and they were then analyzed. The study was able to identify the key bibliometric indicators, such as publications, keywords, authors, countries, institutions, and journals. For the analysis, VOSviewer, R-based Bibliometrix (4.2.2), and MapChart were used. Results Initially, 98 documents were identified; however, once inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied, the number of documents decreased to 88. The search yielded 79 original research articles and 9 reviews, almost all of which were published in the past 2 decades. The total number of citations (Nc) of the retrieved publications was 1,468, and the average number of citations per article (Na) was 16.68. In general, 508 authors were found to have participated in research about troponin; they were associated with 256 institutions, and their work was published in 65 different journals from around the world. The authors hailed from 30 countries and/or regions. The year 2022 was the most productive year for the publication of the selected documents. The bibliometric analysis provided information regarding levels of cooperation among authors and institutions. In fact, China, the United States, and England were the most productive nations, and the journal with the greatest number of publications on the topic was Pediatric Cardiology. Summary The number of publications and the trend line show that research on this topic has not yet reached a stage of maturity. There are referent investigators, countries, and institutions that have laid the foundations for subsequent studies on the analyzed topic.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Subglottic Stenosis (SGS), with increasing numbers of studies, is the most specific and common clinical type of Laryngotracheal Stenosis (LTS). There is rapid publication turnover with newer management introduced and expanding research field. To our knowledge, there is no bibliometric analysis of SGS yet. METHODS In August 2022, we performed a thorough search in the Web of Science Core Collection database using the word "subglottic stenosis," and "SGS." The 580 articles were arranged based on correlation. The collected articles were then analyzed with an assessment of relevant factors. Meanwhile, we analyzed the top 100 most-cited articles on SGS. RESULTS The frequency of publication on SGS has increased substantially over time. The USA has contributed the most articles (n = 301). Vanderbilt University published most of the articles among other institutions (n = 18). Laryngoscope topped the list of journals and has published 89 SGS-related articles. Research hotspots shift from surgical treatment to conservative management. CONCLUSIONS The SGS-related literature has grown rapidly in recent years. This study represents the first bibliometric analysis of scientific articles on SGS. Areas to improve in SGS research can be identified after this analysis of the most impactful articles on this topic.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease with an insidious onset. The widespread application of omics techniques in AD has attracted considerable attention. We aimed to make a comprehensive analysis of published omics articles on AD in order to determine the research profile and application trends of omics techniques in AD. METHODS This study utilizes bibliometric and visual methods including a map collaboration map, co-citations, and keywords to identify knowledge structures, hot topics, and research trends based on 6,828 publications from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database. RESULTS The results of this study showed that 5654 institutions from 91 countries published articles in this field. The USA, China, and the UK played a leading role in publishing numerous articles in relevant journals as well as prolific institutions and authors, respectively. This paper collects a large number of literatures on the application of AD omics technology from the WoSCC database and found the omics technology applied to AD is mainly based on genomics technology. The application of transcriptomics technology has shown an increasing trend in recent years, and the application of multi-omics technology will be the general trend in the future. CONCLUSION The development status, frontier hotspots, and general trends of omics application technologies are reviewed. This article will provide intelligence support to researchers and institutions in the field of Alzheimer's omics research and applications from a practical perspective.

Abstract
Background Four-dimensional flow magnetic resonance imaging (4D flow MRI) is a promising new technology with potential clinical value in hemodynamic quantification. Although an increasing number of articles on 4D flow MRI have been published over the past decades, few studies have statistically analyzed these published articles. In this study, we aimed to perform a systematic and comprehensive bibliometric analysis of 4D flow MRI to explore the current hotspots and potential future directions. Methods The Web of Science Core Collection searched for literature on 4D flow MRI between 2003 and 2022. CiteSpace was utilized to analyze the literature data, including co-citation, cooperative network, cluster, and burst keyword analysis. Results A total of 1,069 articles were extracted for this study. The main research hotspots included the following: quantification and visualization of blood flow in different clinical settings, with keywords such as "cerebral aneurysm", "heart", "great vessel", "tetralogy of Fallot", "portal hypertension", and "stiffness"; optimization of image acquisition schemes, such as "resolution" and "reconstruction"; measurement and analysis of flow components and patterns, as indicated by keywords "pattern", "KE", "WSS", and "fluid dynamics". In addition, international consensus for metrics derived from 4D flow MRI and multimodality imaging may also be the future research direction. Conclusions The global domain of 4D flow MRI has grown over the last 2 decades. In the future, 4D flow MRI will evolve towards becoming a relatively short scan duration with adequate spatiotemporal resolution, expansion into the diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease in other related organs, and a shift in focus from vascular structure to function. In addition, artificial intelligence (AI) will assist in the clinical promotion and application of 4D flow MRI.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Heart disease poses a significant global health challenge. Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) has gained prominence in clinical practice because of advancements in visual medicine. The present bibliometric analysis provides an overview of TEE research, identifies trends, and highlights emerging topics. METHODS A comprehensive search of TEE-related literature from the establishment of the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) until 2022 was conducted. Utilizing the CiteSpace software, we performed an in-depth analysis of the literature data encompassing disciplines, publication years, countries, institutions, authors, journals, cited references, and keywords. RESULTS A total of 17 032 TEE-related articles were included in this study. The most active disciplines in TEE research were Cardiac & Cardiovascular Systems, Anesthesiology, and Respiratory System. The number of publications displayed a consistent upward trajectory over the years. Notably, research contributions predominantly originated from developed countries, mainly Europe and North America, with the United States, Germany, Italy, and Japan leading the way. Analysis of institutions, authors, and journals revealed the United States' significant role in TEE research. Furthermore, the analysis of cited references and keywords identified the treatment of patent foramen ovale and its association with stroke as emerging hot topics in recent years. CONCLUSIONS This study highlights that TEE remains a research hotspot, with the United States at the forefront. Future research should investigate the relationship between heart disease and brain function.

Abstract
Constructed wetland substrates (CWSs) have received considerable attention owing to their importance in adsorbing and degrading pollutants, providing growth attachment points for microorganisms, and supporting wetland plants. There are differences in the configurations and functions of constructed wetlands (CWs) for treating different water bodies and sewage, resulting in a wide variety of substrates. Research on the application and mechanism of CWSs is not sufficiently systematic. Therefore, the current research advancements and hotspots must be identified. Hence, we used CiteSpace to analyze 1955 English publications from the core collection database of the Web of Science to assess the current state of the CWS research field. Based on the cooperative network analysis, the roles of various countries, institutions, and authors in research on CWSs were reviewed. Keyword co-occurrence and cluster analyses were used to discuss the transformation of CWSs from removing traditional pollutants to emerging pollutants and the transition from incorporating natural substrates to artificial substrates. Finally, we underscored the need for more emphasis to be placed on the collocation and application of the CWSs at different latitudes. Furthermore, the substrate micro-interface process and its effects on the interaction patterns of pollutants and microorganisms should be thoroughly investigated to provide theoretical guidance for the development of wetland applications and mechanisms.

Abstract
Background This study aims to visually assess the bibliometric status, current hotspots, and development trends in the field of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)-assisted support for respiratory failure through an examination of articles pertaining to ECMO-assisted support for respiratory failure. Methods A search was conducted on pertinent literature in the domain of ECMO-assisted support for respiratory failure published from 2003 to 2023, utilizing the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) database. A bibliometric analysis was conducted using CiteSpace and VOSviewer visualization software to identify and assess associations between keywords, countries, institutions, authors, journals, and references. Results The present study incorporated a compilation of 1,901 pertinent articles. The United States published the maximum number of research articles in this field, and was closely followed by Germany and China. Furthermore, the University of Michigan was the leading institution in ECMO research. In this context, Daniel Brodie, an American expert, significantly contributed to this field and had published 107 related articles on the subject. Concurrently, active collaboration among ECMO researchers was also observed. Asaio Journal was the most prolific contributor, and Giles J. Peek, 2009, published in Lancet, comprised the most cited article in the field. Additionally, the analysis of keywords could be divided into three categories: (I) neonatal ECMO; (II) complications of ECMO; (III) ECMO application in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19); (IV) application of point-of-care ultra sound in ECMO. Conclusions This study employed CiteSpace and VOSviewer to conduct a systematic literature review on ECMO-assisted support for respiratory failure from 2003 to 2023 in the Web of Science core database. The research outcomes in this domain were presented, offering researchers references for them to gain an accurate understanding of the current state of research and emerging trends in this field.

Abstract
Background The characteristics of disorders of consciousness (DOC) are changes in arousal and/or awareness caused by severe brain injuries. To date, the management of DOC patients remains a complex and challenging task, and neuromodulation techniques offer a promising solution. However, a bibliometric analysis focusing on neuromodulation techniques in DOC is currently absent. The aim of this study is to provide a bibliometric visualization analysis to investigate the research hotspots and frontiers in the field of neuromodulation techniques in DOC from 2012 to 2022. Methods The publications were collected and retrieved from the Web of Science (WoS) from 2012 to 2022. CiteSpace and Microsoft Excel were utilized perform the first global bibliographic analysis of the literature related to neuromodulation techniques for DOC. Results The analysis included a total of 338 publications. From 2012 to 2022, a consistent yet irregular increase in the number of articles published on neuromodulation techniques in DOC was observed. Frontiers in Neurology published the highest number of papers (n = 16). Neurosciences represented the main research hotspot category (n = 170). The most prolific country, institution, and author were the USA (n = 105), the University of Liege (n = 41), and Laureys Steven (n = 38), respectively. An analysis of keywords revealed that UWS/VS, MCS, and TMS constituted the primary research trends and focal points within this domain. Conclusion This bibliometric study sheds light on the current progress and emerging trends of neuromodulation techniques in DOC from 2012 to 2022. The focal topics in this domain encompass the precise diagnosis of consciousness levels in patients suffering from DOC and the pursuit of efficacious neuromodulation-based evaluation and treatment protocols for such patients.

Abstract
Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI), initially proposed by Biswal et al. in 1995, has emerged as a pivotal facet of neuroimaging research. Its ability to examine brain activity during the resting state without the need for explicit tasks or stimuli has made it an integral component of brain imaging studies. In recent years, rs-fMRI has witnessed substantial growth and found widespread application in the investigation of functional connectivity within the brain. To delineate the developmental trajectory of rs-fMRI over the past two decades, we conducted a comprehensive analysis using bibliometric tool Citespace. Our analysis encompassed publication trends, authorship networks, institutional affiliations, international collaborations, as well as emergent themes in references and keywords. Our study reveals a remarkable increase in the volume of rs-fMRI publications over the past two decades, underscoring the burgeoning interest and potential within this field. Harvard University stands out as the institution with the highest number of research papers published in the realm of RS-fMRI, while the United States holds the highest overall influence in this domain. The recent emergence of keywords such as "machine learning" and "default mode," coupled with citation surges in reference to rs-fMRI, have paved new avenues for research within this field. Our study underscores the critical importance of integrating machine learning techniques into rs-fMRI investigations, offering valuable insights into brain function and disease diagnosis. These findings hold profound significance for the field of neuroscience and may furnish insights for future research employing rs-fMRI as a diagnostic tool for a wide array of neurological disorders, thus emphasizing its pivotal role and potential as a tool for investigating brain functionality.

Abstract
Poliomyelitis is an acute infectious disease caused by poliovirus. This bibliometric analysis aims to examine the status of poliomyelitis research in the past 20 years. Information regarding polio research was obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection database. CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and Excel were used to perform visual and bibliometric analysis with respect to countries/regions, institutions, authors, journals and keywords. A total of 5,335 publications on poliomyelitis were published from 2002 to 2021. The USA was the county with the majority of publications. Additionally, the most productive institution was the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Sutter, RW produced the most papers and had the most co-citations. Vaccine was the journal with the most polio-related publications and citations. The most common keywords were mainly about polio immunology research ("polio," "immunization," "children," "eradication" and "vaccine"). Our study is helpful for identifying research hotspots and providing direction for future research on poliomyelitis.

Abstract
Introduction Neuropathic Pain (NP) is often accompanied by mood disorders, which seriously affect the quality of life of patients. This study aimed to analyze the hotspots and trends in NP-related mood disorder research using bibliometric methods and to provide valuable predictions for future research in this field. Methods Articles and review articles on NP-related mood disorders published from January 2003 to May 2023 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. We used CiteSpace to analyze publications, countries, institutions, authors, cited authors, journals, cited journals, references, cited references, and keywords. We also analyzed collaborative network maps and co-occurrence network maps. Results A total of 4,540 studies were collected for analysis. The number of publications concerning NP-related mood disorders every year shows an upward trend. The United States was a major contributor in this field. The University of Toronto was the most productive core institution. C GHELARDINI was the most prolific author, and RH DWORKIN was the most frequently cited author. PAIN was identified as the journal with the highest productivity and citation rate. The current research hotspots mainly included quality of life, efficacy, double-blind methodology, gabapentin, pregabalin, postherpetic neuralgia, and central sensitization. The frontiers in research mainly focused on the mechanisms associated with microglia activation, oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, and NP-related mood disorders. Discussion In conclusion, the present study provided insight into the current state and trends in NP-related mood disorder research over the past 20 years. Consequently, researchers will be able to identify new perspectives on potential collaborators and cooperative institutions, hot topics, and research frontiers in this field.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To conduct a literature survey of COVID-19-related chronic diseases to inform future research. METHODS Publications on COVID-19 and chronic disease were retrieved from PubMed using MeSH Major Topic, including the terms COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2, Chronic Disease and Noncommunicable Diseases. Bibliometric features, journals, research areas, countries, funding agencies and citation reports, were extracted from Web of Science and highly cited papers identified and summarized. Fisher's exact probability test was used to associate highly cited papers with countries. RESULTS A total of 1034 English-language publications were included. Urology/nephrology was the most active research area (n=230), PLOS ONE the most frequently involved journal (n=29) and the United States of America (USA) had the greatest research output (n=223). A medium number of publications were in the areas of hematology and immunology and these papers had a high citation rate. No statistically significant difference was found in the ratio of highly cited papers: total papers across high-output countries (P=0.668). The USA, Europe and China were the sources of the most highly cited articles and productive funding agencies. CONCLUSIONS The influence of COVID-19 on chronic disease has received considerable attention. Hematology and immunology may continue to be productive research fields. Much research remains to be done to characterize the emerging chronic effects of COVID-19 on human health.

Abstract
BACKGROUND A significant relationship between gastric cancer (GC) and depression has been found in the last 20 years. However, there is no comprehensive information that helps researchers find popular and potential research directions on GC and depression. AIM To determine the research status and hotspots by bibliometric analysis of relevant publications on the relationship between GC and depression. METHODS We used the Web of Science Core Collection to search and collate the literature on GC and depression from 2000 to 2022 on 31 May, 2023. Then, visualization analysis was performed using VOSviewer software (version 1.6.19) and the Bibliometrix package in R software. RESULTS We retrieved 153 pertinent publications from 2000 to 2022. The annual publication count showed an overall upward trend. China had the most prominent publications and significant contributions to this field (n = 64, 41.83%). Before 2020, most studies focused on "the effect of GC on the development and progression of depression in patients." The latest research trends indicate that "the effect of depression on the occurrence and development of GC and its mechanism" will receive more attention in the future. CONCLUSION The study of "the effect of depression on the occurrence and development of GC and its mechanism" has emerged as a novel research theme over the past two years, which may become a research hotspot in this field. This study provides new insights into the hotpots and frontiers of the relationship between GC and depression, potentially guiding researchers toward hot research topics in the future.

Abstract
Microbial remediation technology has received much attention as a green, ecological, and inexpensive technology, and there is great potential for the application of microbial remediation technology for heavy metals (HMs) contaminated soil alone and in conjunction with other technologies in environmental remediation. To gain an in-depth understanding of the latest research progress, research hotspots, and development trends on microbial remediation of HMs-contaminated soil, and to objectively reflect the scientific contributions and impacts of relevant countries/regions, institutions, and individuals of this field, in this manuscript, ISI Web of Knowledge's Web of Science™ core collection database, data visualization, and analysis software Bibliometrix, VOSviewer, and HistCite Pro were used to collect and analyze the relevant literature from 2000 to 2022, and 1409 publications were subjected to scientometric analyses. It involved 327 journals, 5150 authors, 75 countries/regions, and 2740 keywords. The current progress and hotspots on microbial remediation of HMs-contaminated soil since the twenty-first century were analyzed in terms of the top 10 most productive countries (regions), high-yielding authors, source journals, important research institutions, and hotspots of research directions. Over the past 22 years, China, India, and the USA have been the countries with the most articles. The institution and author with the most publications are the Chinese Acad Sci and Zhu YG, respectively. Journal of Hazardous Materials is the most productive journal. The keywords showed 6 co-occurrence clusters. These findings revealed the research hotspots, knowledge gaps, and future exploration trends related to microbial remediation of HMs-contaminated soil.

Abstract
Purpose Transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) is a classic surgical procedure for posterior lumbar fusion. This study aims to analyze the TLIF field by bibliometric method and comprehensively summarize the research status and trends. Methods All TLIF-related articles were retrieved from the Web of Science. The data were analyzed using R software and SPSS to calculate corresponding indicators. Visualizations were drawn using VOSviewer and Scimago Graphica, including country, institution, journal, author, and keywords. Results A total of 919 articles were included. The annual publication volume of TLIF-related articles presented an exponential growth. North America, Europe, and Asia were the main sources of articles, with the USA and China being the main contributors and the USA being the global research center for TLIF. The level of the national economy was an important factor affecting TLIF-related research. The highest number of contributions in this field was made by Kern Singh among authors and by Rush University among institutions. The European Spine Journal was the most influential journal. The research focus has gradually shifted from perfecting the TLIF technique toward emphasizing the patient level. The improvement of minimally invasive techniques and how to improve clinical outcomes as well as accelerate postoperative rehabilitation of patients may be the hot spot of future research. Conclusions With the advancement of medical technology and the popularization of minimally invasive concepts in recent years, TLIF and its derivative technologies have attracted increasing attention. Patient-centered minimally invasive surgery is a hot research topic in the field of TLIF currently and will continue to be so into the future.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Relapsing polychondritis (RP) is an inflammatory disease with significant individual heterogeneity that involves systemic cartilage tissues. This study aimed to perform a bibliometric analysis of RP-related publications to quantitatively assess the scholarly productivity in the field. METHODS We extracted the RP-related original research articles and reviews published during 1960-2023 from the Web of Science database by using the keyword "relapsing polychondritis." By using R, CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and SCImago Graphica, the bibliometric analysis was performed on the retrieved publications. RESULTS A total of 1096 articles, consisting of 909 original research articles and 187 reviews, were identified. A mean annual growth rate of 6.71% was found in the number of RP-related publications during 1960-2022. The United States accounted for the highest number of publications (21.9%), exhibited the highest mean citation number per publication (40.7), and engaged in the most frequent academic collaboration. Three clusters of RP-related journals were identified: 1) otology, rhinology, and laryngology; 2) respiratory and radiology medicine; and 3) rheumatology. Journals with a focus on rheumatology issued the most publications, and most of the RP-related publications were from The Journal of Rheumatology (n = 27). Most of these publications were co-authored by Dr. Jean-Charles Piette (n = 19), who also had the highest H-index (13) among all the authors. The co-citation network analysis revealed 11 highly connected clusters of RP research and indicated the "VEXAS Syndrome" as a hotspot. CONCLUSION This overview of the RP research field comprehensively describes the progress in the field. The number of publications on RP has progressively increased but remains insufficient. The United States and European countries are at the forefront of RP-related research, and the journals related to rheumatology have covered the majority of publications. Additionally, several key topics for future investigations, such as "VEXAS Syndrome," have been identified. Key Points •We identified a mean annual growth rate of 6.71% in the number of the RP-related publications during 1960-2022. •The United States accounted for the majority of the publications, exhibited the highest mean citation number per publication, and engaged in the most frequent academic collaborations. •The journals of the publications were categorized into three clusters of research areas: 1) otology, rhinology, and laryngology; 2) respiratory and radiology medicine; and 3) rheumatology. Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to employ bibliometric approaches to assess the worldwide scientific achievements in acupuncture for facial paralysis research from 2013 to 2023, and explore the hotspots and frontiers. METHODS Articles related to acupuncture facial paralysis were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). CiteSpace was utilized to examine journals, publication year, country, institution, cited authors, as well as authors.Research hotspots and trends were analyzed by mapping co-citation networks and keywords. RESULTS The period from January 1, 2013, to July 31, 2023, yielded nearly 145 research records on acupuncture treatment for facial paralysis, with a steady increase in the number of annual publications.In terms of the number of publications, OTOLARYNGOLOGY HEAD NECK had the highest publication count, while AM J CHINESE MED exhibited the highest centrality and citation frequency among the cited journals. Further, 54.4 % of publications originated from China, followed by USA (8.2 %) and Germany (8.2 %). Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine stood out with the highest publication volume among institutions. Guntinas-lichius, Orlando was the most prolific author, and PEITERSEN E was the most cited author. The keywords "Randomized controlled trials" and "multicenter" displayed high frequency and centrality, indicating that clinical trials with a randomized controlled design and multicenter studies were prevalent research methods, likely to remain a future trend. CONCLUSION Acupuncture's potential in the treatment of facial paralysis merits further research. Authors from different countries/regions and organizations need to eliminate language and academic barriers and strengthen collaboration and communication. Current research hotspots focus on "brain", "nerve", "electrical stimulation", "RCT" and "guidelines". The study of acupuncture mechanisms, especially based on the central nervous system mechanism, may be the future research hotspot.

Abstract
Meat plays a significant role in human diets, providing a rich source of high-quality protein. With advancements in technology, research in the field of meat preservation has been undergoing dynamic evolution. To gain insights into the development of this discipline, the study conducted an analysis and knowledge structure mapping of 1672 papers related to meat preservation research within the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) spanning from 2001 to 2023. And using software tools such as VOSviewer 1.6.18 and CiteSpace 5.8.R3c allowed for the convenient analysis of the literature by strictly following the software operation manuals. Moreover, the knowledge structure of research in the field of meat preservation was synthesized within the framework of "basic research-technological application-integration of technology with fundamental research," aligning with the research content. Co-cited literature analysis indicated that meat preservation research could be further categorized into seven collections, as well as highlighting the prominent role of the antibacterial and antioxidant properties of plant essential oils in ongoing research. Subsequently, the future research direction and focus of the meat preservation field were predicted and prospected. The findings of this study could offer valuable assistance to researchers in swiftly comprehending the discipline's development and identifying prominent research areas, thus providing valuable guidance for shaping research topics.

Abstract
Context Pain management is a constant struggle. Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is a neuromodulation technique with proved efficacy in chronic pain. Objective The aim of the study is to provide a bibliometric perspective regarding articles on pain and tDCS. Having a visualized and systematically overview of publication trends, new research ideas could arise for clinicians. Methods Articles on pain and tDCS were retrieved from Web of Science database. Using the R software version 4.1.2 and the "biblioshiny" R package, a quantitative and statistical analysis was performed. Time trend, number of publications, journals and authors, author country and institution, as well as citations and references were visualized. Results A total of 554 publication fulfilled the criteria and were analyzed. The scientific production has been increasing over time with an annual growth of 17.1%. Brain Stimulation Journal and Journal of Pain are the leading journals regarding articles and citations. Fregni F. (83 articles) is the most prolific researcher with important authorship in the field. USA is the country with most authors involved in the topic (558 authors), whereas the leading institution is represented by Universidade Federal Rio Grande Do Sul (84 articles). Lefaucheur JP. article from 2017 has the maximum citations, while keywords in trend in the last three years are osteoarthritis and low back pain. Conclusion This is the first bibliometric study that reflects the trends of tDCS in the field of pain. Journals as well as authors are limited and clustered. However the number of articles as well as number of citations are constantly increasing, supporting the idea that this is an emerging topic. The information obtained could be an important practical basis for future pain management research.

Abstract
Bibliometric and bibliographic analyses are popular tools for investigating publication metrics and thematic transitions in an expanding codex of biomedical literature. Bibliometric techniques have been employed in parasitology and vaccinology, with only a few malaria-specific literature analyses being reported specifically on parasite vaccines. The pursuit of parasite prophylactics is an important, global endeavour both medically and economically. As such, a comprehensive understanding of the research topics would be a valuable tool in assessing the current status and future directions of parasite vaccine development. Consequently, this study investigated parasite vaccinology from 1990 to 2019 by analysing literature exported from the Web of Science and Dimensions databases using two, commonly used, bibliometric programs: SciMAT and VOSviewer. The results of this study show the common, emerging, and transient themes within the discipline, and where the future lies as vaccine development moves further into the age of omics and informatics.

Abstract
Background Electroacupuncture has been used as a treatment; however, a visual bibliometric analysis has not yet been performed in this field. In this study, we aimed to suggest future research topics and directions related to the field by examining the last 20 years of research trends and hotspots of electroacupuncture in stroke. Methods We searched the Web of Science database on electroacupuncture as a treatment for stroke published from 2003 to 2022. We analyzed the papers by annual publication, research fields, nations, affiliations, authors, journals, and keywords. VOSviewer software was used to visualize the bibliometric analysis and results. A total of 440 papers were included in the analysis. Results The number of publications has gradually increased every year, and neuroscience has become the most actively studied field. Neural Regeneration Research journal and China had the most publications. Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, as an affiliated institute, published the most articles. Chen Lidian and Tao Jing presented the largest number of papers, making them the leading contributors in this field. Four clusters were created by analyzing keywords, such as "neuroprotection," "clinical rehabilitation," "neuroplasticity," and "pretreatment-induced tolerance". Conclusion This study is the first to analyze the research trends in electroacupuncture as a treatment for stroke using the VOSviewer. It shows the current state of research in the field by visualizing research trends and hotspots. This will help offer reference data for future studies.

Abstract
This research focuses on a bibliometric analysis of research on aerosols' impact on the glaciers in the Himalayan glacier region published in journals from all subject categories based on the Science Citation Index Expanded, collected from the Web of Science and Scopus database between January 2002 and April 2022. The indexing phrases like "aerosol," "glacier," and "snow" are commonly used terms and have been utilized to collect the related publications for this investigation. The document selections were based on years of publication, authorship, the scientific output of authors, distribution of publication by country, categories of the subjects, and names of journals in which scholarly papers were published. The number of articles on aerosols accelerating the melting of glaciers shows a notable increase in recent years, along with more glacier melting results from countries involved in climate science research. People's Republic of China (382) was the country with the highest publication output on aerosols impacting the melting of glaciers. The USA (367) was the most cited country, with about 17,500 total citations and 80.40 average citations per year from January 2002 to April 2022. The results reveal that research trends in the glaciers on aerosols' impact on the glaciers have been attractive in recent years, and the number of articles in this field keeps increasing fast. This study offers opportunities to track research trends, identify collaboration prospects, and inform climate policy. Integrating data sources and engaging the public will further enhance the impact and relevance of this critical research field.

Abstract
Introduction The publication of articles on the circular economy has different associated factors to explain the citations registered in the Web of Science. Method Articles from the publishers Elsevier, MDPI, Taylor & Francis, Wiley, and Springer Nature were evaluated. Results It was expected that the older the article was, the more citations it had received, but this was not always the case. It was also recognized that there was a lower number of citations if the articles were too large or if they had too many references. Discussion This analysis helps to establish the factors that must be addressed in order to publish in journals that have a high citation rate. Conclusion: Based on speci?c articles and with speci?c references, it will be possible to increase the probability of citations.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Leishmaniasis is a global health problem seen in more than 98 countries. The aim of this study is to conduct a bibliometric analysis of worldwide scientific outputs related to leishmaniasis and to provide a perspective for researchers on this topic. It also aimed to investigate the contribution of Türkiye to the leishmaniasis literature. METHODS This study was conducted using scientometric methodologies on leishmaniasis in the Web of Science database between 2003 and 2022. The visualizations were made with Vosviewer program. The most published institutions and organizations, countries, authors, trends in the number of publications and citations by year, H-indexes of the mostly publishing countries, the most popular keywords, scientific collaborations between countries, and many other bibliometric parameters were analyzed. RESULTS In the last 20 years, research on Leishmania has been conducted in 143 different countries/regions. Brazil is the leading country with 4.463 articles (29.071%). The United States of America, India, Iran, and Spain published more than 1.000 articles, followed by European countries (Spain, United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Italy). CONCLUSION The number of publications, especially in endemic areas, was found to be limited other than Brazil. Studies in this area should be supported to ensure the eradication of the disease.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The use of activated carbon (AC) in oral hygiene products has gained significant interest; however, its potential benefits for oral health remain uncertain. This study aimed to conduct a scientometric analysis to examine the dynamicity, emerging patterns, and trends over time in scientific production concerning the use of AC in oral health. METHODS The Web of Science database was searched for articles published between 2005 and 2022. Various bibliometric indicators, including the H-index, annual growth, Lotka's law, Bradford's law, and Sankey diagram, were used for data analysis. Overlay maps, timezone visualization, and three field plots were used to evaluate visualization patterns, time-temporal relationships, and trends. Information retrieval process was performed on March 11, 2023. RESULTS The analysis revealed that only six studies constituted the top references with the highest number of citations in recent years, with Brooks' 2017 study demonstrating the most significant increase in citation. The dual-map overlay demonstrated a close citation relationship between cluster 4 (Molecular Biology Immunology) and the areas of Environmental, Toxicology, and Nutrition. The visualization graph of publication patterns indicated the journals that accumulated the highest number of citations during the study period. CONCLUSION This scientometric study provides valuable insights into the use of AC in oral health and its impact on the field of dentistry. It determines the most productive journals, authors, and countries with the greatest influence. AC effectively removes pollutants and is gaining interest for use in dental effluent treatment. Thus, it may be a viable option for professionals.

Abstract
Background Integrated care (IC) is the cornerstone of the sustainable development of the medical and health system. A thorough examination of the existing scientific literature on IC is essential for assessing the present state of knowledge on this subject. This review seeks to offer an overview of evidence-based knowledge, pinpoint existing knowledge gaps related to IC, and identify areas requiring further research. Methods Data were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection, from 2010 to 2020. Bibliometrics and social network analysis were used to explore and map the knowledge structure, research hotspots, development status, academic groups and future development trends of IC. Results A total of 7,501 articles were obtained. The number of publications on IC was rising in general. Healthcare science services were the most common topics. The United States contributed the highest number of articles. The level of collaboration between countries and between authors was found to be relatively low. The keywords were stratified into four clusters: IC, depression, integrative medicine, and primary health care. In recent years, complementary medicine has become a hotspot and will continue to be a focus. Conclusion The study provides a comprehensive analysis of global research hotspots and trends in IC, and highlights the characteristics, challenges, and potential solutions of IC. To address resource fragmentation, collaboration difficulties, insufficient financial incentives, and poor information sharing, international collaboration needs to be strengthened to promote value co-creation and model innovation in IC. The contribution of this study lies in enhancing people's understanding of the current state of IC research, guiding scholars to discover new research perspectives, and providing valuable references for researchers and policymakers in designing and implementing effective IC strategies.

Abstract
Objective Pheochromocytoma is a rare catecholamine-producing neuroendocrine tumour originating from the chromaffin cells of the adrenal medulla or extra-adrenal paraganglia. However, there are few bibliometric studies on Pheochromocytoma. Therefore, this study was employed to summarize the global trends and current status in pheochromocytoma by bibliometric analysis. Materials and methods The Web of Science (WOS) core collection database was searched for publications relating to pheochromocytoma from 2001 to 2021. Bibliometric analysis was used to examine the data, and Microsoft Excel was utilized to create bar graphs. In addition, VOSviewer was used to carry out co-authorship analysis, co-citation analysis and co-occurrence analysis. CiteSpace was used to analyze the keywords citation bursts. Results A total of 8,653 publications published in 1,806 journals by 38,590 authors in 6,117 organizations from 100 countries/regions were included in our study. Among them, USA was the leading countries in terms of total publications and sum of time cited, whereas Eunice Kennedy Shriver Natl Inst Child Hlth & Hum was the leading institutions. The main publications for pheochromocytoma-related articles were Journal of clinical endocrinology &metabolism. Pacak karel and Eisenhofer Graeme were the main contributing authors. The studies on pheochromocytoma could be grouped into five clusters: Treatment, Mechanism, Etiology, Radiology and Hormones study. Moreover, the radiology study, etiology study and some specific keywords such germlines mutation, mesenchymal stem-cells, autophagy, neuroinflammation, neurotoxicity, and hemodynamic instability, may become the hot spots of future. Conclusion Although the number of articles on pheochromocytoma has fluctuated slightly over the past 20 years, there has been an overall upward trend. In general, precision medicine research on pheochromocytoma, especially metastatic pheochromocytoma, in terms of diagnosis, treatment, and etiology will be a hot research topic in the future. This study helps to understand the research perspectives, hot spots and trends of pheochromocytoma and provide new insight and a basis for future pheochromocytoma research quickly.

Abstract
Background Grief is a natural and individualized response to different losses, but if grief persists or becomes pathological, professional interventions are required. Grief and corresponding interventions have received increasing attention, as the related concepts have been incorporated into the DSM-5 and ICD-11. Therefore, we conducted a bibliometric analysis to explore the developments in the field of grief intervention research. Methods Articles on grief interventions were systematically searched and screened from the Web of Science Core Collection. The retrieved data were analyzed and visualized using VOSviewer and Bibliometrix software for journals, authors, institutions, countries, references, and keywords. Results A total of 9,754 articles were included. The number of articles on grief interventions has increased significantly each year since 1990. Death Studies was the journal that published the most articles in this field. We identified 25,140 authors contributed to this research area and these authors were from 123 countries and 6,630 institutions. Boelen PA secured the first position in article production, Columbia University emerged as the most productive affiliation and the United States was the foremost leading in grief intervention research. The prevalent keywords utilized in this field comprised bereavement, grief, death, depression, and palliative care. Conclusion The quantity of publications regarding grief interventions is increasing. Although most prior studies have focused on mortality, grief, and health, emerging themes such as COVID-19, grief among workers, and disfranchised grief have drawn increasing attention in recent years. Future studies may focus on investigating the complexities and challenges of grief, including its underlying mechanisms and impact on mental well-being.

Abstract
Background Infectious disease is a large burden on public health globally. Metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) has become popular as a new tool for pathogen diagnosis with numerous advantages compared to conventional methods. Recently, research on mNGS increases yearly. However, no bibliometric analysis has systematically presented the full spectrum of this research field. Therefore, we reviewed all the publications associated with this topic and performed this study to analyze the comprehensive status and future hotspots of mNGS for infectious disease diagnosis. Methods The literature was searched in the Web of Science Core Collection and screened without year or language restrictions, and the characteristics of the studies were also identified. The outcomes included publication years, study types, journals, countries, authorship, institutions, frontiers, and hotspots with trends. Statistical analysis and visualization were conducted using VOSviewer (version 1.6.16) and CiteSpace (version 6.1. R3). Results In total, 325 studies were included in the analysis after screening. Studies were published between 2009 and 2022 with a significantly increasing number from 1 to 118. Most of the studies were original articles and case reports. Frontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology and Clinical Infectious Disease were the most commonly cited and co-cited journals. Institutions and researchers from China contributed the most to this field, followed by those from the USA. The hotspots and frontiers of these studies are pneumonia, tuberculosis, and central nervous system infections. Conclusion This study determined that mNGS is a hot topic in the diagnosis of infectious diseases with development trends and provides insights into researchers, institutions, hotspots and frontiers in mNGS, which can offer references to related researchers and future research.

Abstract
Cancer immunotherapy has been gradually introduced and has undergone noteworthy developments in recent years. The number of scientific publications has been expanding, and the progression in this field has been rapidly evolving with time. This study aimed to use bibliometric analysis to examine the past 20 years of research on cancer immunotherapy and identify future hotspots. A literature search for medical publications on immunotherapy in cancer from 2000 to 2021 was conducted in the Web of Science Core Collection on March 1, 2022. Visualization analysis was performed using VOSviewer software (version 1.6.16). From 2000 to 2021, a total of 18,778 publications were retrieved. Annual publication output grew rapidly from 366 in 2000 to 3,194 in 2021. The USA issued the largest number of publications (n = 6,739, 35.89%), with the University of Texas System making the largest contribution (n = 802, 4.27%). A total of 976 meaningful topics were identified and further classified into 4 different clusters (immune mechanism, cancer biology, immunotherapy and clinical trials). The most common research topics included 'expression', 'chemotherapy', 'dendritic cells', 'pembrolizumab' and 'open-label'. Highly identified cancer types included hepatocellular, bladder, breast and lung cancer. A shift in popularity from mechanism research to clinical trials was observed, indicating that clinical application would be the center of attention in the future. Attention has been given to the field of cancer immunotherapy, and this trend will continue in the future. This study provides an unbiased visualization analysis on this topic in a scale-efficient manner for further research.

Abstract
Metals can accumulate in different parts of plant species in high concentrations, which gives the basis for the plant-based technology called phytoremediation. Among annual species, Amaranthus is a well-studied, potential metal accumulator genus; however, some conflicts are found among published results. Thus, we studied the metal (Cd, Cu, Fe, Ni, Pb, and Zn) accumulation potential of Amaranthus plant parts (root, stem, and leaf) by meta-analysis, furthermore, by calculation of bioaccumulation factor (BAF) values. After the extensive literature search and the calculation of relative interaction intensity (RII) values, we found significant accumulation for each metal by Amaranthus individuals growing on contaminated soils compared to plants collected from uncontaminated ones. Differences among plant parts were significant for Cu and Fe, minor for Ni, Pb, and Zn, and negligible for Cd. The BAF values indicated high accumulation in the leaf, moderate in root and stem for Cd, moderate in each plant part for Pb, and very low in each plant part for Fe, Ni, and Zn. We highlight that Amaranthus species are good prospects for metal phytoremediation projects, although, due to specific plant part-metal patterns, special attention should be paid to the harvesting practice.

Abstract
Objectives To review literature related to first-generation college students, the paper aims to outline the research direction, identify prominent research topics and frontiers, report on current research trends, and offer valuable insights and fresh perspectives for future advancements in the field, utilizing CiteSpace. Methods CiteSpace is a citation visualization software designed to analyze the scholarly literature and uncover potential knowledge within it. This study retrieved articles related to first-generation college students from 2002 to 2022 from Web of Science Core Collection database. After collecting the data, CiteSpace V.6.1.R3 (64-bit) was used to perform analyses on various aspects, including annual publication output, top cited journals, country and institutional affiliations, prominent authors, cited references, and keywords. The data was visualized using tools such as knowledge maps, collaborative network analysis, cluster analysis, and strongest citation burst analysis. Results We obtained a total of 471 articles on first-generation college students. The number of publications annually is increasing, and the number of publications generally shows an upward trend, especially in 2017-2021 with a sharp growth. The United States has the most articles on this topic (395 articles), and it is also the most authoritative and influential country (with a centrality of 0.93). Followed by South Africa (14 articles) and Germany (14 articles), The top 10 cited journals and institutions are predominantly from the United States. When analyzing the top cited references and authors, the research consistently highlights the academic achievement and engagement of first-generation college students. Conclusion This study analyzed the current situation of first-generation college students field via CiteSpace, then identify the research hotspots and frontiers on first-generation college students. Current global trends in first-generation college students researches and the growing public awareness of academic performance and equality suggest that first-generation college students researches will grow in popularity with further breakthroughs.

Abstract
Objective This study aims to find out the coverage of biomedical journals published in Sub-Saharan Africa in four authoritative international databases-Web of Science, Scopus, MEDLINE and EMBASE and two Africa-focused scholarly databases-Africa Journals Online (AJOL) and African Index Medicus (AIM). Methods Lists of active journals that are published in the 46 Sub-Saharan African countries were retrieved from the Ulrich periodical directory to create master journal lists. Unique journals from other databases that were not found in Ulrich were added to the master journal list. The six databases included in this study were searched for journals on the master lists. Results Only 23 of the 46 Sub-Saharan African countries had at least one biomedical journal. Only about one-quarter (152) of the 560 biomedical journals from Sub-Saharan Africa were found in at least one of the biomedical databases. South African journals accounted for more than 50% of all the Sub-Saharan journals in the international scholarly databases. AJOL contains the highest number of biomedical journals from Sub-Saharan Africa, followed by Scopus and EMBASE. AJOL asserts its importance by covering the highest number of unique journals and having a representative number of journals in all biomedical sub-disciplines. Conclusion The majority of studies from Sub-Saharan Africa are left out when biomedical evidence-based researchers only retrieve studies from authoritative international databases. Searching Google Scholar and the African research databases of AJOL and AIM would increase the number of studies from the region.

Abstract
Objectives To conduct a bibliometric analysis to quantify and identify the current status and trends of acromegaly research in the past two decades. Materials and methods Articles related to acromegaly that were published from 1999 to 2022 were retrieved through the Web of Science core collection (WoSCC) database. Then, they were imported into VOSviewer and CiteSpace to conduct a visualization analysis of authors, countries, institutions, citation numbers, cocitations, keywords, and references. Results A total of 3,909 articles were identified in the study. Among them, the United States made the largest contribution to the field. Moreover, Colao A. was the most prolific author, and the University of Naples Federico II was the institution with the most publications. In addition, the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism was the core journal in the field. High-frequency keywords mainly included "acromegaly," "GH (Growth Hormone)," "IGH-I (Insulin-Like Growth Factor I)," "pituitary adenomas," and "octreotide." Conclusion Studies related to acromegaly have shown stable stepwise growth over the past two decades. Interestingly, the research focus after 2016 gradually shifted from the etiology, mechanism, medications for treatment, and complications to improving prognosis and quality of life of patients with acromegaly. The current findings may provide guidance for further research in the field of acromegaly.

Abstract
The bibliometric analysis assesses the productivity of scholarship in a given field and provides information on the frontiers of relevant developments. However, no bibliometric analysis study has quantitatively analyzed publications in geriatric sarcopenia therapies. This study investigates the scholarly productivity and frontiers of publications in geriatric sarcopenia therapies. The bibliometric data came from English-language Web of Science Core Collection articles published between 1995 and October 19, 2022. Three software programs, R version 3.5.6, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace, were applied for this bibliometric analysis. In twenty-eight years, the annual publications in geriatric sarcopenia therapies have increased yearly, with an annual growth rate of 21.23 %. A total of 1379 publications have been published. The United States was the country with the highest number of publication signatures (n=1,537) (including joint publication releases), followed by Japan (n=1099). Journal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia, and Muscle contributed the best journal publications (n=80). The newest hot subjects in the study about geriatric sarcopenia therapy include malnutrition, obesity, insulin resistance, and cancer. This bibliometric study presents a comprehensive overview of the current and future research directions in geriatric sarcopenia therapies over the past 28 years. Overall, this study has complemented the gaps in bibliometric analysis in geriatric sarcopenia therapies. This paper will provide a valuable reference for future research in geriatric sarcopenia therapies.

Abstract
Objective Alzheimer's disease (AD), a prevalent neurodegenerative affliction that predominantly affects the elderly population, imposes a substantial burden on not only patients but also their families and society at large. Mitochondrial dysfunction plays an important role in its pathogenesis. In this study, we conducted a bibliometric analysis of research on mitochondrial dysfunction and AD over the past 10 years, with the aim of summarizing current research hotspots and trends in this field. Methods On February 12, 2023, we searched for publications about mitochondrial dysfunction and AD in the Web of Science Core Collection database from 2013 to 2022. VOSview software, CiteSpace, SCImago, and RStudio were used to analyze and visualize countries, institutions, journals, keywords, and references. Results The number of publications on mitochondrial dysfunction and AD were on the rise until 2021 and decreased slightly in 2022. The United States ranks first in the number of publications, H-index, and intensity of international cooperation in this research. In terms of institutions, Texas Tech University in the United States has the most publications. The Journal of Alzheimer's Disease has the most publications in this field of research, while Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity have the highest number of citations. Mitochondrial dysfunction is still an important direction of current research. Autophagy, mitochondrial autophagy, and neuroinflammation are new hotspots. The article from Lin MT is the most cited by analyzing references. Conclusion Research on mitochondrial dysfunction in AD is gaining significant momentum as it provides a crucial research avenue for the treatment of this debilitating condition. This study sheds light on the present research trajectory concerning the molecular mechanisms underlying mitochondrial dysfunction in AD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Robotic neurosurgery is a rapidly advancing field with numerous applications in various subspecialties including spine, functional, skull base, and cerebrovascular. This study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the most-cited articles on robotic neurosurgery. METHODS The Web of Science database was used to collect data, and bibliometric analysis was performed using VOSviewer and RStudio. Network analysis techniques such as co-occurrence, co-authorship, bibliographic coupling, and thematic mapping analyses were used to identify top 100 most cited articles, major contributors, emerging trends, and noteworthy themes in the field. RESULTS The results showed that there has been a steady increase in the number of publications on robotic neurosurgery since 1991, with an exponential growth in the number of citations. The United States was the most common country of origin for articles, followed by Canada. The most productive authors in this field were Burton S.A. and Gerszten P.C., while the University of Pittsburgh was the most productive institution, and Neurosurgery was the most productive journal. Themes such as Robotics, Back Pain, and Prostate Cancer, as well as trends in developing new technologies and improving the precision of surgical procedures, were identified. CONCLUSION This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the most-cited articles on robotic neurosurgery. The broad range of topics and techniques explored emphasizes the importance of continued innovation and investigation. Ultimately, the study's findings provide valuable guidance for future research and contribute to advancing our understanding of this critical area of study.

Abstract
In this study, we investigated the literature's publication trends related to the Charcot foot deformity. Using bibliometric analysis to examine the data of origin, this analysis was carried out by conducting an electronic search of the Web of Science database for research articles between 1970 and March 2023. We used the following search term in the search bar: TI = (Charcot foot OR Charcot foot deformity OR Charcot's foot OR Charcot Osteopathic Arthropathy) with English language and article-format filtering for documents. The bibliometric analysis was carried out using R's "Bibliometrix" package program. A total of 437 articles were found in the electronic search. A total number of 1513 authors from around the world contributed to the Charcot foot literature, with the most articles published (42.1%) originating in the United States. The United States had the highest proportion of citations (3332 citations). The highest number of articles (n = 245) on Charcot foot deformity was in the last decade. 2021 was the year with the most articles (n = 34). The authors from the United States and the United Kingdom had the highest number of international collaborations. The study offers researchers a current overview of essential data and may help direct future research by summarizing the main points and research trends on the topic of Charcot foot deformity.
