Abstract
AIMS Idiopathic Normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by gait disturbance, dementia, and urinary dysfunction. The neural network mechanisms underlying this phenomenon is currently unknown. METHODS To investigate the resting-state functional connectivity (rs-FC) abnormalities of iNPH-related brain connectivity from static and dynamic perspectives and the correlation of these abnormalities with clinical symptoms before and 3-month after shunt. We investigated both static and dynamic functional network connectivity (sFNC and dFNC, respectively) in 33 iNPH patients and 23 healthy controls (HCs). RESULTS The sFNC and dFNC of networks were generally decreased in iNPH patients. The reduction in sFNC within the default mode network (DMN) and between the somatomotor network (SMN) and visual network (VN) were related to symptoms. The temporal properties of dFNC and its temporal variability in state-4 were sensitive to the identification of iNPH and were correlated with symptoms. The temporal variability in the dorsal attention network (DAN) increased, and the average instantaneous FC was altered among networks in iNPH. These features were partially associated with clinical symptoms. CONCLUSION The dFNC may be a more sensitive biomarker for altered network function in iNPH, providing us with extra information on the mechanisms of iNPH.

Abstract
Background Considering that patellofemoral pain (PFP) is related to dynamic factors, dynamic extension on 4-dimensional computed tomography (4-DCT) may better reflect the influence of muscles and surrounding soft tissue than static extension. Purpose To compare the characteristics of patellofemoral alignment between the static and dynamic knee extension position in patients with PFP and controls via 4-DCT. Study Design Cross-sectional study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods Included were 39 knees (25 patients) with PFP and 37 control knees (24 participants). For each knee, an image of the dynamic extension position (a single frame of the knee in full extension [flexion angle of -5° to 0°] selected from 21 frames of continuous images acquired by 4-DCT during active flexion and extension) and an image of the static extension position (acquired using the same equipment with the knee fully extended and the muscles relaxed) were selected. Patellofemoral alignment was evaluated between the dynamic and static extension positions and between the PFP and control groups with the following parameters: patella-patellar tendon angle (P-PTA), Blackburne-Peel ratio, bisect-offset (BO) index, lateral patellar tilt (LPT), and tibial tuberosity-trochlear groove (TT-TG) distance. Results In both PFP patients and controls, the P-PTA, Blackburne-Peel ratio, and BO index in the static extension position were significantly lower (P < .001 for all), while the LPT and TT-TG distance in the static extension position were significantly higher (P ≤ .034 and P < .001, respectively) compared with values in the dynamic extension position. In the comparison between groups, only P-PTA in the static extension position was significantly different (134.97° ± 4.51° [PFP] vs 137.82° ± 5.63° [control]; P = .027). No difference was found in the rate of change from the static to the dynamic extension position of any parameter between the study groups. Conclusion The study results revealed significant differences in patellofemoral alignment characteristics between the static and dynamic extension positions of PFP patients and controls. Multiplanar measurements may have a role in subsequent patellofemoral alignment evaluation.

Abstract
PURPOSE To demonstrate proof-of-concept of a T2 *-sensitized oxygen-enhanced MRI (OE-MRI) method at 3T by assessing signal characteristics, repeatability, and reproducibility of dynamic lung OE-MRI metrics in healthy volunteers. METHODS We performed sequence-specific simulations for protocol optimisation and acquired free-breathing OE-MRI data from 16 healthy subjects using a dual-echo RF-spoiled gradient echo approach at 3T across two institutions. Non-linear registration and tissue density correction were applied. Derived metrics included percent signal enhancement (PSE), ∆R2 * and wash-in time normalized for breathing rate (τ-nBR). Inter-scanner reproducibility and intra-scanner repeatability were evaluated using intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC), repeatability coefficient, reproducibility coefficient, and Bland-Altman analysis. RESULTS Simulations and experimental data show negative contrast upon oxygen inhalation, due to substantial dominance of ∆R2 * at TE > 0.2 ms. Density correction improved signal fluctuations. Density-corrected mean PSE values, aligned with simulations, display TE-dependence, and an anterior-to-posterior PSE reduction trend at TE1 . ∆R2 * maps exhibit spatial heterogeneity in oxygen delivery, featuring anterior-to-posterior R2 * increase. Mean T2 * values across 32 scans were 0.68 and 0.62 ms for pre- and post-O2 inhalation, respectively. Excellent or good agreement emerged from all intra-, inter-scanner and inter-rater variability tests for PSE and ∆R2 *. However, ICC values for τ-nBR demonstrated limited agreement between repeated measures. CONCLUSION Our results demonstrate the feasibility of a T2 *-weighted method utilizing a dual-echo RF-spoiled gradient echo approach, simultaneously capturing PSE, ∆R2 * changes, and oxygen wash-in during free-breathing. The excellent or good repeatability and reproducibility on intra- and inter-scanner PSE and ∆R2 * suggest potential utility in multi-center clinical applications.

Abstract
PURPOSE Dynamic lung oxygen-enhanced MRI (OE-MRI) is challenging due to the presence of confounding signals and poor signal-to-noise ratio, particularly at 3 T. We have created a robust pipeline utilizing independent component analysis (ICA) to automatically extract the oxygen-induced signal change from confounding factors to improve the accuracy and sensitivity of lung OE-MRI. METHODS Dynamic OE-MRI was performed on healthy participants using a dual-echo multi-slice spoiled gradient echo sequence at 3 T and cyclical gas delivery. ICA was applied to each echo within a thoracic mask. The ICA component relating to the oxygen-enhancement signal was automatically identified using correlation analysis. The oxygen-enhancement component was reconstructed, and the percentage signal enhancement (PSE) was calculated. The lung PSE of current smokers was compared with nonsmokers; scan-rescan repeatability, ICA pipeline repeatability, and reproducibility between two vendors were assessed. RESULTS ICA successfully extracted a consistent oxygen-enhancement component for all participants. Lung tissue and oxygenated blood displayed the opposite oxygen-induced signal enhancements. A significant difference in PSE was observed between the lungs of current smokers and nonsmokers. The scan-rescan repeatability and the ICA pipeline repeatability were good. CONCLUSION The developed pipeline demonstrated sensitivity to the signal enhancements of the lung tissue and oxygenated blood at 3 T. The difference in lung PSE between current smokers and nonsmokers indicates a likely sensitivity to lung function alterations that may be seen in mild pathology, supporting future use of our methods in patient studies.

Abstract
To guarantee the accuracy of sophisticated equipment in spacecraft, it is essential to evaluate the dynamic forces of vibration sources. In contrast to conventional rigid-based measuring approaches, a method for predicting the interference of dynamic forces from large sources on spacecraft considering vibration coupling is proposed. In addition, a flexible-based dynamic force measuring platform capable of withstanding large masses and mounting large-volume vibration sources is designed. After that, the experiments for calibrating the platform and acquiring unknown terms in the derived theoretical models are detailed. The principle prototype is then manufactured for feasibility verification. It is demonstrated that despite the low fundamental frequency of the measuring platform of 242.8 Hz, the measurement error of the flexible measuring platform is less than 8% when the coupling is taken into account, which is 29% lower than that without coupling. Additionally, the prediction error of disturbance forces is within 17%. As a result, the accuracy of the proposed dynamic force measurement and prediction of large vibration sources considering coupling is substantially improved, providing a good reference for aerospace applications.

Abstract
Conservation offsets promise cost-effective conservation of biodiversity, especially under economic and environmental change, because they represent a more flexible approach to biodiversity conservation, allowing for the economic development of ecologically valuable land provided that this development is offset by restoration of previously developed areas. The level of flexibility is determined by the trading rules. Lax rules allow for more flexibility, which promises cost savings, but will likely lead to unintended loss of biodiversity. I analyzed the trade-off between economic costs and ecological benefits (biodiversity conservation) in biodiversity offsetting with an ecological-economic model that considered the three main types of offset flexibility: spatial, temporal, and ecosystem type. I sought to examine the influence of ecological and economic conditions on offset flexibility trade-offs. Large variation in the conservation costs and small costs of habitat restoration strongly increased trading activity and reduced the ecological benefit. The ecological benefit was most sensitive to spatial flexibility when a short range of ecological interaction was considered. At a large interaction range, spatial flexibility delivered large cost savings without overly reducing the ecological benefit. Risks and time lags associated with habitat restoration favored an offsetting scheme in which credits are awarded with the initiation of restoration projects rather than their successful completion-given appropriate offsetting multipliers were chosen. Altogether, under scarce resources, the level of flexibility in an offsetting scheme should be chosen by carefully balancing ecological benefits and economic costs.

Abstract
A growing body of literature recognizes that pairwise species interactions are not necessarily an appropriate metaphorical molecule of community ecology. Two examples are intransitive competition and nonlinear higher-order effects. While these two processes have been discussed extensively, the explicit analysis of how the two of them behave when simultaneously part of the same dynamic system has not yet been explored theoretically. A concrete situation exists on coffee farms in Puerto Rico in which three ant species form an intransitive competitive triplet, and that triplet is strongly influenced, nonlinearly, by a fly parasitoid that modifies the competitive ability of one of the species. Using this arrangement as a template, we explore the dynamical consequences with a simple ordinary differential equation (ODE) model. Results are complicated and include alternative periodic and chaotic attractors. The qualitative structures of those complications, however, may be approximately retrieved from the basic natural history of the system.

Abstract
Background The societal burden of chronic pain and the contribution-in-part to the opioid crisis, is a strong motivation to improve and expand non-addictive treatments, including spinal cord stimulation (SCS). For several decades standard SCS has consisted in delivery of tonic pulses with static parameter settings in frequency, pulse width, and amplitude. These static parameters have limited ability to personalize the quality of paresthesia, the dermatomal coverage, and thus may affect SCS efficacy. Further, static settings may contribute to the build-up of tolerance or loss of efficacy of the therapy over time in some patients. Methods We conducted an acute exploratory study to evaluate the effects of SCS using time-dynamic pulses as compared to time-static (conventional tonic) stimulation pulses, with the hypotheses that dynamic pulse SCS may enable beneficial tailoring of the sensation and the patient's expectation for better pain relief with SCS. During a single clinic visit, consented subjects undergoing a standard SCS trial had their implanted leads temporarily connected to an investigational external stimulator capable of delivering time-static and six categories of time-dynamic pulse sequences, each characterized by continuously varying a stimulation parameter. Study subjects provided several assessments while blinded to the stimulation pattern, including: drawing of paresthesia maps, descriptions of sensation, and ratings for comfort and helpfulness to pain relief. Results Even without optimization of the field location, a majority of subjects rated sensations from dynamic stimulation as better or equal to that of static stimulation for comfortableness and for helpfulness to pain relief. The initial data showed a gender and/or pain dermatomal location related preference to a stimulation pattern. In particular, female subjects and subjects with pain at higher dermatomes tended to rank the sensation from dynamic stimulation better. Dynamic stimulation produced greater pain coverage without optimization; in 70% (9/13) of subjects, maximal pain coverage was achieved with a dynamic stimulation pattern. There was also greater variety in the words used by patients to describe stimulation sensation in the free text and free form verbal descriptions associated with dynamic stimulation. Conclusions With the same electrode configuration and comparable parameter settings, acute SCS using dynamic pulses produced more positive ratings, expanded paresthesia coverage, and greater variation in sensation as compared to SCS using static pulses, suggesting that dynamic stimulation has the potential to improve capabilities of SCS for the treatment of chronic pain. Abstract
Humans communicate internal states through complex facial movements shaped by biological and evolutionary constraints. Although real-life social interactions are flooded with dynamic signals, current knowledge on facial expression recognition mainly arises from studies using static face images. This experimental bias might stem from previous studies consistently reporting that young adults minimally benefit from the richer dynamic over static information, whereas children, the elderly, and clinical populations very strongly do (Richoz, Jack, Garrod, Schyns, & Caldara, 2015, Richoz, Jack, Garrod, Schyns, & Caldara, 2018b). These observations point to a near-optimal facial expression decoding system in young adults, almost insensitive to the advantage of dynamic over static cues. Surprisingly, no study has yet tested the idea that such evidence might be rooted in a ceiling effect. To this aim, we asked 70 healthy young adults to perform static and dynamic facial expression recognition of the six basic expressions while parametrically and randomly varying the low-level normalized phase and contrast signal (0%-100%) of the faces. As predicted, when 100% face signals were presented, static and dynamic expressions were recognized with equal efficiency with the exception of those with the most informative dynamics (i.e., happiness and surprise). However, when less signal was available, dynamic expressions were all better recognized than their static counterpart (peaking at ∼20%). Our data show that facial movements increase our ability to efficiently identify emotional states of others under the suboptimal visual conditions that can occur in everyday life. Dynamic signals are more effective and sensitive than static ones for decoding all facial expressions of emotion for all human observers.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Surgical correction of unicoronal synostosis (UCS) entails extensive cranioplasties which do not address facial scoliosis. This paper presents the first results with springs that motivated the shift from extensive cranioplasties to dynamic techniques for surgical correction of UCS. METHODS Two cases of UCS were operated with a linear osteotomy combined with springs. The deviation in facial symmetry (orbital dystopia angle) and skull base angles were measured on pre and postoperative computed tomography scans until 3 years of age. RESULTS The facial scoliosis was corrected. At spring removal, the orbital dystopia angle had gone from a 9.2 to 13.2-degree deviation preoperatively to a 0.5 to 0.9-degree overcorrection compared with the ideal 0-degree deviation. Also, the skull base deviation improved. CONCLUSION Linear osteotomy combined with springs corrects the facial scoliosis in UCS. These cases indicate that dynamic methods may be beneficial for improving the results of surgical correction of UCS.

Abstract
The nano-kirigami metasurfaces have controllable 3D geometric parameters and dynamic transformation functions and therefore provide a strong spectral regulation capability of thermal emission. Here, the authors propose and demonstrate a dynamic and multifunctional thermal emitter based on deformable nano-kirigami structures, which can be actuated by electronic bias or mechanical compression. Selective emittance and the variation of radiation intensity/wavelength are achieved by adjusting the geometric shape and the transformation of the structures. Particularly, a thermal management device based on a composite structure of nano-kirigami and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) thin film is developed, which can dynamically switch the state of cooling and heating by simply pressing the device. The proposed thermal emitter designs with strong regulation capability and multiple dynamic adjustment strategies are desirable for energy and sensing applications and inspire further development of infrared emitters.

Abstract
Higher psychological resilience is correlated with less severe post-concussion symptoms (PCS) after mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) in children, but the directional nature of this relationship remains uncertain. Although traditionally regarded as a stable, trait-like construct, resilience may be malleable and potentially influenced by mTBI and post-concussive symptoms. The current study sought to examine the stability of resilience, elucidate the dynamic nature of the resilience-PCS relation, and determine whether resilience-symptom associations are specific to mTBI or applicable to traumatic injury in general. Participants were children aged 8-16.99 years with either mTBI (n = 633) or orthopedic injury (OI; n = 334) recruited to participate in a prospective cohort study after presenting acutely to five Canadian pediatric emergency departments (EDs). Symptoms and psychological resilience were assessed at 1 week, 3 months, and 6 months post-injury. Group differences in resilience over time were examined using a mixed linear model, and associations between resilience and symptoms over time were examined using random intercepts cross-lagged panel modeling (RI-CLPM). The mTBI group reported significantly lower resilience than the OI group, but the difference was significantly larger 1 week post-injury (d = 0.50) than at 3 months (d = 0.08) and 6 months (d = 0.10). Cross-lagged panel models indicated that resilience had both stable and dynamic aspects, and both affected and was affected by PCS, although their association varied by time post-injury, symptom measure, and reporter (parent vs. child). Higher parent-reported cognitive symptom severity at 1 week was significantly associated with higher resilience at 3 months (β = 0.23, p = 0.001). Higher resilience at 3 months was associated with lower levels of parent-reported somatic symptom severity (β = -0.14, p = 0.004) and fewer total symptoms (β = -0.135, p = 0.029) at 6 months. Higher resilience at 3 months was associated with fewer child-reported symptoms at 6 months (β = -0.11, p = 0.030) and, reciprocally, fewer child-reported symptoms at 3 months were associated with higher resilience at 6 months (β = -0.22, p = 0.001). Notably, injury group was not a significant moderator in cross-lagged models, suggesting that resilience-symptom associations are not specific to mTBI. Psychological resilience and symptoms have bidirectional relationships after injury. Interventions designed to foster resilience have the potential to promote recovery after mTBI specifically and injury more generally.

Abstract
Background Web-based learning has transformed education. Its ability to overcome physical barriers and deliver knowledge at the click of a button has made web-based learning popular and ensured that it will continue to be used in the future. The involvement of parents in web-based learning is fundamental to the success of the educational process, but limited attention has been paid to the impact of web-based learning on parents. Objective This study examined parental experiences with school-aged children receiving web-based learning in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Methods We sent cross-sectional, anonymous web-based questionnaires to school-aged children's parents. A total of 184 parents completed the survey. Results Parents' negative experiences of web-based learning (mean 4.13, SD 0.62) exceeded their positive experiences (mean 3.52, SD 0.65). The most negative experience reported by parents was their child's boredom due to prolonged sitting in front of a device (mean 4.56, SD 0.69). The most positive experience was their child's technological skill enhancement (mean 3.98, SD 88). Their child's lack of social interaction and friendship building promoted stress among parents (r=-0.190; P=.01). At the same time, their child's technological skill enhancement reduced stress among parents (r=0.261; P=.001). The most reported (63/184, 34.2%) obstacle to web-based learning was having multiple learners in the same household. Conclusions Web-based learning is a fundamental learning method and will continue to be used in the future because of its ability to overcome many barriers to education. Parental involvement in the continuity and success of the web-based learning process is crucial. However, the findings of this study illustrated that parents' experiences of web-based learning were more negative than positive. Parents who reported negative experiences reported an increase in stress and faced more obstacles due to web-based learning. Thus, more attention and intervention are needed to promote positive web-based learning experiences among parents.

Abstract
AIM To investigate the relationship between dynamic tear meniscus parameters and dry eye using an automated tear meniscus segmentation method. METHODS The analysis of tear meniscus videos captured within 5s after a complete blink includes data from 38 participates. By processing video data, several key parameters including the average height of the tear meniscus at different lengths, the curvature of the tear meniscus's upper boundary, and the total area of the tear meniscus in each frame were calculated. The effective values of these dynamic parameters were then linearly fitted to explore the relationship between their changing trends and dry eye disease. RESULTS In 94.74% of the samples, the average height of central tear meniscus increased over time. Moreover, 97.37% of the samples exhibited an increase in the overall tear meniscus height (TMH) and area from the nasal to temporal side. Notably, the central TMH increased at a faster rate compared to the nasal side with the temporal side showing the slowest ascent. Statistical analysis indicates that the upper boundary curvature of the whole tear meniscus as well as the tear meniscus of the nasal side (2, 3, and 4 mm) aid in identifying the presence of dry eye and assessing its severity. CONCLUSION This study contributes to the understanding of tear meniscus dynamics as potential markers for dry eye, utilizing an automated and non-invasive approach that has implications for clinical assessment.

Abstract
Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is a pathogen of global significance, but the value of HEV-related markers in the diagnosis of hepatitis E remains controversial. Previous studies on hepatitis E profiles have been mainly cross-sectional and conducted among inpatients in large hospitals, and hepatitis E cases have been primarily defined by limited partial markers. In this community-based study, 4,110 active hepatitis cases from a population of nearly 600,000 were followed over 48 months and serial serum samples were collected. Both HEV pathogen (HEV RNA and antigen) and anti-HEV antibody markers were used to determine HEV infection status and the relationship between hepatitis and HEV infection. In total, 98 hepatitis E patients were identified and all available isolates from 58 patients belonged to HEV genotype 4. The mean age of the patients was 58.14 years, with an overwhelming proportion of males (70.4%). Hepatitis E accounted for 22.86% of active hepatitis cases with alanine aminotransferase levels ≥15.0-fold the upper limit of normal, suggesting the need to include HEV in routine testing for these patients. Ninety-two hepatitis E patients were positive for at least 2 of HEV antigen, anti-HEV IgM, and HEV RNA markers at presentation, and 90.22% of them were positive for HEV antigen and anti-HEV IgM. HEV antigen, HEV RNA, and anti-HEV IgM positivity were observed in 89.80%, 82.65%, and 93.88% of hepatitis E patients at presentation, respectively. However, only 57.14% of anti-HEV IgM positivity occurred in hepatitis E patients. These findings will advance our understanding of hepatitis E and improve diagnosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) is considered an age-related degenerative neurological disorder and the most common risk factor for vascular cognitive impairment (VCI). The amplitude of fluctuation of low frequency (ALFF) can detect altered intrinsic brain activity in CSVD. This study explored the static and dynamic ALFFs in the early stage of CSVD with (CSVD-M) or without (CSVD-W) mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in these patients and how these changes contribute to cognitive deterioration. METHODS Thirty consecutive CSVD cases and 18 healthy controls (HC) were included in this study. All the participants underwent a 3D magnetization-prepared rapid gradient-echo (MPRAGE) sequence to obtain structural T1-weighted images. Simultaneous multislice imaging 5(SMS5) was used for resting-state functional MRI (rs-fMRI), and Data Processing and Analysis of Brain Imaging software helped determine static ALFF (sALFF). The dynamic ALFF (dALFF) was calculated using the sliding window method of DynamicBC software. Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) and two-sample t-test were used to evaluate the sALFF and temporal variability of dALFF among the three groups. The subjects were rated on a broad standard neuropsychological scale. Partial correlation analysis was used to evaluate the correlation between sALFF and dALFF variability and cognition (Bonferroni correction, statistical threshold set at p < .05). RESULTS Compared with HCs, the CSVD-M group indicated decreased sALFF values in the bilateral cerebellum posterior lobe (CPL) and the left inferior Parietal Lobule (IPL), with increased sALFF values in the right SFG. For dALFF analysis, the CSVD-W group had significant dALFF variability in the right fusiform gyrus compared with HC. Moreover, the postcentral gyrus (PoCG) was significantly high in the CSVD-W group. While in the CSVD-M group, the bilateral paracentral lobules (PL) revealed significantly elevated dALFF variability and low dALFF variability in the left CPL and right IPL compared with HCs. The CSVD-M group had high dALFF variability in the bilateral PL but low dALFF variability in the left middle temporal gyrus (MTG) and right PoCG compared with the CSVD-W group. The partial correlation analysis indicated that dALFF variability in the left MTG was positively associated with EM (r = 0.713, p = .002) in CSVD-W and CSVD-M groups. In the groups with CSVD-M and HC, altered dALFF variability in the bilateral PL was negatively correlated with EM (r = -0.560, p = .002). CONCLUSION There were significant changes in sALFF and dALFF variability in CSVD patients. Abnormal spontaneous static and dynamic ALFFs may provide new insights into cognitive dysfunction in CSVD with MCI and may be valuable biomarkers for early diagnosis.

Abstract
PURPOSE Ice hockey is a team invasion sport characterized by repeated high-intensity skating efforts, technical and tactical skill, physical contact, and collisions requiring considerable levels of muscular strength. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationships between lower-body vertical force-time metrics and skating qualities in subelite female ice hockey players. METHODS A cross-sectional cohort design was employed utilizing 14 athletes (body mass = 66.7 [1.8] kg; height = 171.6 [6.2] cm; age = 21.1 [1.7] y). The relationships between metrics of lower-body strength collected from a drop jump, squat jump, countermovement jump, loaded countermovement jump, and an isometric squat and 4 skating qualities collected from a linear sprint, repeated sprint test, and a multistage aerobic test were evaluated. RESULTS The regression models revealed a positive relationship between relative peak force in the isometric squat and skating multistage aerobic test performance (r2 = .388; P = .017) and a positive relationship between repeated-sprint ability and eccentric mean force during the loaded countermovement jump (r2 = .595; P = .001). No significant relationships were observed between strength metrics and skating acceleration or maximal velocity. CONCLUSIONS These data suggest that skating ability is most affected by relative isometric strength in female ice hockey players. It is recommended that practitioners focus training on tasks that improve relative force output. It is also recommended that isometric relative peak force be used as a monitoring metric for this cohort.

Abstract
This study sought to explore the relationship between resilience as perceived within the Palestinian context, and individual, contextual, and psychosocial factors among adults living in the Gaza Strip. Secondly, this study applies the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale to the Palestinian population within the context of the challenges they are facing while living under extended sieges, in order to examine the generalizability of the resilience scale. Gender-specific bivariate analyses and multivariate linear regression were conducted to examine links between resilience, and diverse psychosocial and contextual factors. Males scored higher in resilience than females. Consistent predictors of higher resilience included, being male, employed, income, not living in a peaceful area, higher life satisfaction, and the Palestinian idea of resilience (Sumud). For the overall sample and males, hardiness was a positive predictor of higher resilience. For the overall sample and females, post-secondary education was a positive predictor of resilience. Psychosocial factors may act synergistically to foster resilience in the face of adversity, low socioeconomic status, and fear of living in a non-peaceful area. Our findings add to a limited body of literature calling for attention to contextual and psychosocial influences on gender differences in measuring and defining the dynamic nature of resilience.

Abstract
Objective Decrease in free thyroid hormone T3 (FT3) can be used as an independent prognostic indicator for the risk of death in ICUs. However, FT3 as a predictive marker is hindered by its accuracy. The study introduces the concept of dynamic FT3 data as a means to bolster the value of FT3 as a prognostic tool. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate the prognostic value of dynamic FT3 evolution in a comprehensive ICU setting, analyze the consistency between dynamic FT3 changes and variations in disease severity, and explore the feasibility of FT3 as an objective indicator for real-time clinical treatment feedback. Methods Employing a single-center prospective observational study, FT3 measurements were taken on multiple days following enrollment, corresponding clinical data were collected. To investigated the pattern of dynamic changes of FT3,its prognostic significance in forecasting the risk of 28-day mortality, the alignment between dynamic FT3 changes and variations in the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score. Results The survival group exhibited higher last FT3 levels compared to the lowest point (p<0.05), while the death group did not show statistically significant differences (p>0.05). The study also identifies the optimal correlation between FT3 and SOFA score at day 5 (optimal correlation coefficient -0.546).The ROC curve for FT3 at day 5 yielded an optimal AUC of 0.88, outperforming the SOFA score. The study categorizes FT3 curve patterns,Kaplan-Meier survival analysis of these patterns highlighted that the descending-type curve was significantly associated with increased risk of death (P<0.001). Additionally, the research explores the consistency between changes in FT3 and SOFA scores. While overall consistency rates were modest, subgroup analyses unveiled that greater disease severity led to higher consistency rates. Conclusions This study introduces the concept of dynamic FT3 changes to augment its prognostic utility in comprehensive ICU settings. The research identifies day 5 as the optimal time point for predictive efficacy, the descending FT3 curve as indicative of poor prognosis. While overall consistency with SOFA scores is modest, the correlation strengthens with greater disease severity.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The performance of fenestrated endovascular aortic aneurysm repair (FEVAR) may be compromised by complications related to the dynamic vascular environment. The aim of this study was to analyze the behavior of FEVAR bridging stent configurations during the cardiac cycle and during follow-up to improve our understanding on treatment durability. DESIGN Twenty-one patients presenting with complex abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs; 9 juxtarenal/6 pararenal/3 paravisceral/1 thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm type IV), treated with a fenestrated Anaconda (Terumo Aortic, Inchinnan, Scotland, UK) with Advanta V12 bridging stents (Getinge, Merrimack, NH, USA), were prospectively enrolled in a multicenter observational cohort study and underwent electrocardiogram (ECG)-gated computed tomographic angiography (CTA) preoperatively, at discharge, 7-week, and 12-month follow-ups. METHODS Fenestrated endovascular aortic aneurysm repair stability was assessed considering the following variables: branch angle as the angle between the aorta and the target artery, end-stent angle as the angle between the end of the bridging stent and the native artery downstream from it, curvature and tortuosity index (TI) to describe the bending of the target artery. Body-bridging stent stability was assessed considering bridging stent flare lengths, the distances between the proximal sealing stent-ring and fenestrations and the distance between the fenestration and first apposition in the target artery. RESULTS Renal branch angles significantly increased after FEVAR toward a perpendicular position (right renal artery from median 60.9°, inter quartile range [IQR]=44.2-84.9° preoperatively to 94.4°, IQR=72.6-99.8°, p=0.001 at 12-month follow-up; left renal artery [LRA], from 63.7°, IQR=55.0-73.0° to 94.3°, IQR=68.2-105.6°, p<0.001), while visceral branch angles did not. The mean dynamic curvature only decreased for the LRA from preoperative (3.0, IQR=2.2-3.8 m-1) to 12-month follow-up (1.9, IQR=1.4-2.6 m-1, p=0.027). The remaining investigated variables did not seem to show any changes over time in this cohort. CONCLUSIONS Fenestrated endovascular aortic aneurysm repair for complex AAAs using the Anaconda fenestrated stent-graft and balloon-expandable Advanta V12 bridging stents demonstrated stable configurations up to 12-month follow-up, except for increasing renal branch angles toward perpendicular orientation to the aorta, yet without apparent clinical consequences in this cohort. CLINICAL IMPACT This study provides detailed information on the cardiac-pulsatility-induced (dynamic) and longitudinal geometry deformations of the target arteries and bridging stents after fenestrated endovascular aortic aneurysm repair (FEVAR) up to 12-month follow-up. The configuration demonstrated limited dynamic and longitudinal deformations in terms of branch angle, end-stent angle, curvature, and tortuosity index (TI), except for the increasing renal branch angles that go toward a perpendicular orientation to the aorta. Overall, the results suggest that the investigated FEVAR configurations are stable and durable, though careful consideration of increasing renal branch angles and significant geometry alterations is advised.

Abstract
ABSTRACTSmiles provide information about a social partner's affect and intentions during social interaction. Although always encountered within a specific situation, the influence of contextual information on smile evaluation has not been widely investigated. Moreover, little is known about the reciprocal effect of smiles on evaluations of their accompanying situations. In this research, we assessed how different smile types and situational contexts affected participants' social evaluations. In Study 1, 85 participants rated reward, affiliation, and dominance smiles embedded within either enjoyable, polite, or negative (unpleasant) situations. Context had a strong effect on smile ratings, such that smiles in enjoyable situations were rated as more genuine and joyful, as well as indicating less superiority than those in negative situations. In Study 2, 200 participants evaluated the situations that these smiles were perceived within (rather than the smiles themselves). Although situations paired with reward (vs. affiliation) smiles tended to be rated more positively, this effect was absent for negative situations. Ultimately, the findings point toward a reciprocal relationship between smiles and contexts, whereby the face influences evaluations of the situation and vice versa.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To gain a better understanding of how Pyricularia oryzae population shifts is important for selecting suitable resistance genes for rice breeding programs. However, the relationships between P. oryzae pathogenic dynamics, geographic distribution, rice varieties, and timeline are not well studied. RESULTS Resistance genes Piz-5, Pi9(t), Pi12(t), Pi20(t), Pita-2, and Pi11 showed stable resistance to the Taiwan rice blast fungus over 8 years of observations. Furthermore, 1749 rice blast isolates were collected from 2014 to 2021 and categorized into five pathotype clusters based on their correlation analysis between the geographic sources and virulence of Lijiangxintuanheigu monogenic lines. A detailed map of their distributions in Taiwan is presented. Isolates collected from the western region of Taiwan had greater pathotype diversity than those from the east region. Isolates collected from the subtropical region had greater diversity than those from the tropical region. Rice cultivars carrying Pik alleles were highly susceptible to pathotype L4. Cultivars with Piz-t were highly susceptible to pathotype L5, and those with Pish were highly susceptible to pathotype L1. The geographical distribution of each pathotype was distinct, and the population size of each pathotype fluctuated significantly each year. CONCLUSION The regional mega cultivars significantly impact the evolution of Pyricularia oryzae in Taiwan within the span of 8 years. However, the annual fluctuation of pathotype populations likely correlate to the rising annual temperatures that selected pathotype clusters by their optimal growth temperature. The results will provide useful information for effective disease management, and enable the R-genes to prolong their function in the fields. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract
Objective: Despite the prevalence of socio-cognitive disturbances, and their important diagnostic/therapeutic implications, the assessment of these disturbances remains scarce. This systematic review aims to identify available social cognition tools for adult assessment that use multimodal and/or dynamic social cues, specifying their strengths and limitations (e.g. from a methodological, psychometric, ecological, and clinical perspective). Method: An electronic search was conducted in Pubmed, PsychINFO, Embase and Scopus databases for articles published up to the 3th of January 2023 and the first 200 Google Scholar results on the same date. The PRISMA methodology was applied, 3884 studies were screened based on title and abstract and 329 full texts were screened. Articles using pseudo-dynamic methodologies (e.g. morphing), reported only subjective or self-reported measures, or investigated only physiological or brain activity responses were excluded. Results: In total, 149 works were included in this review, representing 65 assessment tools (i.e. 48% studying emotion recognition (n = 31), 32% Theory of Mind (n = 21), 5% empathy (n = 3), 1.5% moral cognition/social reasoning (n = 1), and 14% being multimodal (n = 9)). For each study, the tool's main characteristics, psychometric properties, ecological validity indicators and available norms are reported. The tools are presented according to social-cognitive process assessed and communication channels used. Conclusions: This study highlights the lack of validated and standardized tools. A few tools appear to partially meet some clinical needs. The development of methodologies using a first-person paradigm and taking into account the multidimensional nature of social cognition seems a relevant research endeavour for greater ecological validity.

Abstract
The instability of zinc metal anode caused by zinc dendrite growth and severe parasitic reactions has significantly restricted the extensive application of rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries (RAZBs). Herein, based on the strategy of dynamic hard domains, we develop an ion-conductive supramolecular elastomer consisting of Zn salts and the polyurethane-urea-polypropylene glycol polymer skeleton. This elastomer combines high mechanical strength, high ionic conductivity, decent hydrophobicity, and high adhesion to stabilize the electrode-electrolyte interface. In the elastomer system, this elastomer can dynamically adapt to the volume changes of Zn anodes during repeated zinc plating/stripping processes through the reversible dissociation/reassociation of hierarchical hydrogen bonds (H-bonds) formed by the polar groups of urea and urethane moieties. Meanwhile, the coordination of Zn2+ with soft polypropylene glycol (PPG) segments contributes to fast ion transport. This hydrophobic elastomer can also effectively inhibit water-induced corrosion by shielding the active Zn metal from the aqueous electrolyte. Based on the above synergies, the surface-modified anode shows excellent cycling stability above 550 h at a high current density of 5 mA cm-2 and a capacity of 2.5 mAh cm-2. Moreover, the assembled Zn//MnO2 full cell also displayed an enhanced electrochemical performance. This work provides inspiration for the design of solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) layers in aqueous battery chemistry to accelerate the application of RAZBs.

Abstract
This narrative review seeks to compare the various ways in which motor creativity has been measured and to critically evaluate those methods within the context of our contemporary understanding of motor creativity. Eligible studies included those of any study design, experimental or observational, as long as motor creativity was measured. Three databases (i.e., PubMed, Scopus, and ScienceDirect) were searched from the earliest possible start dates to December 2021. No risk of bias assessment was performed as the study outcomes were not the focus of the review. After screening for eligibility, 23 articles were included for review, all having measured motor creativity. Of the 23 articles, 16 measured generic motor creativity, while the remaining seven measured task-specific motor creativity. Furthermore, 16 of the studies tested motor creativity with largely static environmental constraints, while the remaining seven were conducted with dynamic environmental constraints. Using a contemporary understanding of motor creativity, most motor creativity tests presently do not possess sufficient task specificity and environmental dynamism, which may not provide an appropriate context for the emergence of creative motor action.

Abstract
Background: In vivo measurements of segmental-level kinematics are a promising avenue for better understanding the relationship between pain and its underlying, multi-factorial basis. To date, the bulk of the reported segmental-level motion has been restricted to single plane motions. Methods: The present work implemented a novel marker set used with an optical motion capture system to non-invasively measure dynamic, 3D in vivo segmental kinematics of the lower spine in a laboratory setting. Lumbar spinal kinematics were measured for 28 subjects during 17 diagnostic movements. Results: Overall regional range of motion data and lumbar angular velocity measurement were consistent with previously published studies. Key findings from the work included measurement of differences in ascending versus descending segmental velocities during functional movements and observations of motion coupling paradigms in the lumbar spinal segments. Conclusion: The work contributes to the task of establishing a baseline of segmental lumbar movement patterns in an asymptomatic cohort, which serves as a necessary pre-requisite for identifying pathological and symptomatic deviations from the baseline.

Abstract
The lung has raised significant concerns because of its radiosensitivity. Radiation-induced lung injury (RILI) has a serious impact on the quality of patients' lives and limits the effect of radiotherapy on chest tumors. In clinical practice, effective drug intervention for RILI remains to be fully elucidated. Therefore, an in-depth understanding of the biological characteristics is essential to reveal the mechanisms underlying the complex biological processes and discover novel therapeutic targets in RILI. In this study, Wistar rats received 0, 10, 20 or 35 Gy whole-thorax irradiation (WTI). Lung and plasma samples were collected within 5 days post-irradiation. Then, these samples were processed using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS). A panel of potential plasma metabolic markers was selected by correlation analysis between the lung tissue and plasma metabolic features, followed by the evaluation of radiation injury levels within 5 days following whole-thorax irradiation (WTI). In addition, the multiple metabolic dysregulations primarily involved amino acids, bile acids and lipid and fatty acid β-oxidation-related metabolites, implying disturbances in the urea cycle, intestinal flora metabolism and mitochondrial dysfunction. In particular, the accumulation of long-chain acylcarnitines (ACs) was observed as early as 2 d post-WTI by dynamic plasma metabolic data analysis. Our findings indicate that plasma metabolic markers have the potential for RILI assessment. These results reveal metabolic characteristics following WTI and provide new insights into therapeutic interventions for RILI.

Abstract
We investigated solution-grown single crystals of multidimensional 2D-3D hybrid lead bromide perovskites using spatially resolved photocurrent and photoluminescence. Scanning photocurrent microscopy (SPCM) measurements where the electrodes consisted of a dip probe contact and a back contact. The crystals revealed significant differences between 3D and multidimensional 2D-3D perovskites under biased detection, not only in terms of photocarrier decay length values but also in the spatial dynamics across the crystal. In general, the photocurrent maps indicate that the closer the border proximity, the shorter the effective decay length, thus suggesting a determinant role of the border recombination centers in monocrystalline samples. In this case, multidimensional 2D-3D perovskites exhibited a simple fitting model consisting of a single exponential, while 3D perovskites demonstrated two distinct charge carrier migration dynamics within the crystal: fast and slow. Although the first one matches that of the 2D-3D perovskite, the long decay of the 3D sample exhibits a value two orders of magnitude larger. This difference could be attributed to the presence of interlayer screening and a larger exciton binding energy of the multidimensional 2D-3D perovskites with respect to their 3D counterparts.

Abstract
A growing body of research suggests that movement aids facial expression recognition. However, less is known about the conditions under which the dynamic advantage occurs. The aim of this research was to test emotion recognition in static and dynamic facial expressions, thereby exploring the role of three featural parameters (prototypicality, ambiguity, and complexity) in human and machine analysis. In two studies, facial expression videos and corresponding images depicting the peak of the target and non-target emotion were presented to human observers and the machine classifier (FACET). Results revealed higher recognition rates for dynamic stimuli compared to non-target images. Such benefit disappeared in the context of target-emotion images which were similarly well (or even better) recognised than videos, and more prototypical, less ambiguous, and more complex in appearance than non-target images. While prototypicality and ambiguity exerted more predictive power in machine performance, complexity was more indicative of human emotion recognition. Interestingly, recognition performance by the machine was found to be superior to humans for both target and non-target images. Together, the findings point towards a compensatory role of dynamic information, particularly when static-based stimuli lack relevant features of the target emotion. Implications for research using automatic facial expression analysis (AFEA) are discussed.

Abstract
The purpose of prosthetic devices is to reproduce the angular-torque profile of a healthy human during locomotion. A lightweight and energy-efficient joint is capable of decreasing the peak actuator power and/or power consumption per gait cycle, while adequately meeting profile-matching constraints. The aim of this study was to highlight the dynamic characteristics of a bionic leg with electric actuators with rotational movement. Three-dimensional (3D)-printing technology was used to create the leg, and servomotors were used for the joints. A stepper motor was used for horizontal movement. For better numerical simulation of the printed model, three mechanical tests were carried out (tension, compression, and bending), based on which the main mechanical characteristics necessary for the numerical simulation were obtained. For the experimental model made, the dynamic stresses could be determined, which highlights the fact that, under the conditions given for the experimental model, the prosthesis resists.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The increasing number of wheelchair users and their risk of medical complications such as pressure ulcers (PU) make it important to have a better understanding of their seating characteristics. However, while most studies tackling this issue are based on static measurements, wheelchair users are active in their wheelchairs when performing daily life activities. This suggests the need to assess the mechanical loads at the wheelchair user's body-seat interface during dynamic activities. OBJECTIVES A scoping review was conducted to explore the existing data (shear load and pressure) and highlight significant parameters, relevant conditions and methodological strategies when studying wheelchair users performing a dynamic task. MATERIALS AND METHODS The literature search was performed by applying the PRISMA methodology. RESULTS A total of 11 articles met the inclusion criteria. Differences between static and dynamic data were found in the literature for peak pressure values, pressure distribution and the location of peak pressure. None measured tangential load at the seat/body interface, although two studies measured the shift of the ischial region. A significant impact of the type of pathology has been quantified, showing the need to perform experimental studies on diverse populations. The protocol and the pressure parameters studied were very diverse. CONCLUSION Further studies carefully choosing interface pressure mapping parameters and investigating a broader range of pathologies are required. Additionally, researchers should focus on finding a way to measure seated tangential load.

Abstract
Multi-component drugs (MCDs) can induce various cellular changes covering multiple levels, from molecular and subcellular structure to cell morphology. A "non-invasive" method for comprehensively detecting the dynamic changes of cellular fine structure and chemical components on the subcellular level is highly desirable for MCD studies. In this study, the subcellular dynamic processes of gastric cancer BGC823 cells after treatment with a multi-component drug, Compound Kushen Injection (CKI), were investigated using a homemade, high-resolution, confocal Raman spectroscopy (RS) device combined with bright-field imaging. The Raman spectra of the nucleus, cytoplasm and intracellular vesicles (0.4-1 μm) were collected simultaneously for each cell treated with CKI at different times and doses. The RS measurements showed that CKI decreased the DNA signatures, which the drug is known to inhibit. Meanwhile, the CKI-induced subcellular dynamic changes in the appearance of numerous intracellular vesicles and the deconstruction of cytoplasm components were observed and discussed. The results demonstrated that high-resolution subcellular micro-Raman spectroscopy has potential for detecting fine cellular dynamic variation induced by drugs and the screening of MCDs in cancer therapy.

Abstract
Objectives Initial precipitating injury (IPI) such as febrile convulsion and intracranial infection will increase the susceptibility to epilepsy. It is still unknown if the functional deficits differ between mesial temporal lobe epilepsy with IPI (mTLE-IPI) and without IPI (mTLE-NO). Methods We recruited 25 mTLE-IPI patients, 35 mTLE-NO patients and 33 healthy controls (HC). Static regional homogeneity (sReHo) and dynamic regional homogeneity (dReHo) were then adopted to estimate the alterations of local neuronal activity. One-way analysis of variance was used to analyze the differences between the three groups in sReHo and dReHo. Then the results were utilized as masks for further between-group comparisons. Besides, correlation analyses were carried out to detect the potential relationships between abnormal regional homogeneity indicators and clinical characteristics. Results When compared with HC, the bilateral thalamus and the visual cortex in mTLE-IPI patients showed an increase in both sReHo and variability of dReHo. Besides, mTLE-IPI patients exhibited decreased sReHo in the right cerebellum crus1/crus2, inferior parietal lobule and temporal neocortex. mTLE-NO patients showed decreased sReHo and variability of dReHo in the bilateral temporal neocortex compared with HC. Increased sReHo and variability of dReHo were found in the bilateral visual cortex when mTLE-IPI patients was compared with mTLE-NO patients, as well as increased variability of dReHo in the left thalamus and decreased sReHo in the right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. Additionally, we discovered a negative correlation between the national hospital seizure severity scale testing score and sReHo in the right cerebellum crus1 in mTLE-IPI patients. Conclusion According to the aforementioned findings, both mTLE-IPI and mTLE-NO patients had significant anomalies in local neuronal activity, although the functional deficits were much severer in mTLE-IPI patients. The use of sReHo and dReHo may provide a novel insight into the impact of the presence of IPI on the development of mTLE.

Abstract
Oral biofilms are three-dimensional (3D) complex entities initiating dental diseases and have been evaluated extensively in the scientific literature using several biofilm models and assessment techniques. The list of biofilm models and assessment techniques may overwhelm a novice biofilm researcher. This narrative review aims to summarize the existing literature on biofilm models and assessment techniques, providing additional information on selecting an appropriate model and corresponding assessment techniques, which may be useful as a guide to the beginner biofilm investigator and as a refresher to experienced researchers. The review addresses previously established 2D models, outlining their advantages and limitations based on the growth environment, availability of nutrients, and the number of bacterial species, while also exploring novel 3D biofilm models. The growth of biofilms on clinically relevant 3D models, particularly melt electrowritten fibrous scaffolds, is discussed with a specific focus that has not been previously reported. Relevant studies on validated oral microcosm models that have recently gaining prominence are summarized. The review analyses the advantages and limitations of biofilm assessment methods, including colony forming unit culture, crystal violet, 2,3-bis-(2-methoxy-4-nitro-5-sulfophenyl)-2H-tetrazolium-5-carboxanilide inner salt assays, confocal microscopy, fluorescence in situ hybridization, scanning electron microscopy, quantitative polymerase chain reaction, and next-generation sequencing. The use of more complex models with advanced assessment methodologies, subject to the availability of equipment/facilities, may help in developing clinically relevant biofilms and answering appropriate research questions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Biomarker dynamics in different time-courses might be the primary reason why a static measurement of a single biomarker cannot accurately predict sepsis outcomes. Therefore, we conducted this prospective hospital-based cohort study to simultaneously evaluate the performance of several conventional and novel biomarkers of sepsis in predicting sepsis-associated mortality on different days of illness among patients with suspected sepsis. METHODS We evaluated the performance of 15 novel biomarkers including angiopoietin-2, pentraxin 3, sTREM-1, ICAM-1, VCAM-1, sCD14 and 163, E-selectin, P-selectin, TNF-alpha, interferon-gamma, CD64, IL-6, 8, and 10, along with few conventional markers for predicting sepsis-associated mortality. Patients were grouped into quartiles according to the number of days since symptom onset. Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis was used to evaluate the biomarker performance. RESULTS From 2014 to 2017, 1,483 patients were enrolled, of which 78% fulfilled the systemic inflammatory response syndrome criteria, 62% fulfilled the sepsis-3 criteria, 32% had septic shock, and 3.3% developed sepsis-associated mortality. IL-6, pentraxin 3, sCD163, and the blood gas profile demonstrated better performance in the early days of illness, both before and after adjusting for potential confounders (adjusted area under ROC curve [AUROC]:0.81-0.88). Notably, the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score was relatively consistent throughout the course of illness (adjusted AUROC:0.70-0.91). CONCLUSION IL-6, pentraxin 3, sCD163, and the blood gas profile showed excellent predictive accuracy in the early days of illness. The SOFA score was consistently predictive of sepsis-associated mortality throughout the course of illness, with an acceptable performance.

Abstract
Understanding motor unit (MU) properties with muscle fatigue in adult ageing is limited to isometric tasks. The purpose was to investigate the effect of an isokinetic fatiguing task on MU firing rates between two adult age groups of males. Single MUs were recorded by intramuscular electrodes in the anconeus muscle of 8 young (19-33 years) and 11 very old adults (78-93 years). Fatigue was induced by repeated isokinetic maximal voluntary contractions at 25% of maximum velocity (Vmax), until elbow extension power decreased by 35%. At baseline, the very old had lower maximal power (135 vs 214 W, P=0.002) and slower maximal velocity (177 vs 196°/s, P<0.001) compared to young. Despite a similar number of contractions (39 young and 44 very old) to task-failure (P=0.33) the older males were less fatigable as time under tension was ~25% longer (P=0.04). Maximum firing rates from ~ 20 single MUs per age group were tracked continuously throughout the task and during 10-min of recovery. Similar rates were recorded (24.7 and 23.6 Hz, P=0.18) at baseline 25% Vmax, and during the task (23.3 and 28.7% decrease, P=0.21) between young and very old, respectively. Power and MU rates recovered similarly by 2-min of rest in both groups (all P>0.15). Despite differences in baseline capability, very old males in this relatively slow isokinetic task were more fatigue-resistant, but the fatigue-related reduction and recovery in MU rates were similar between groups. Therefore, fatigue in this task between age groups are not differentially affected by alterations in firing rates.

Abstract
Astrocytes are key regulators of brain homeostasis, equilibrating ion, water, and neurotransmitter concentrations and maintaining essential conditions for proper cognitive function. Recently, it has been shown that the excitability of the actin cytoskeleton manifests in second-scale dynamic fluctuations and acts as a sensor of chemophysical environmental cues. However, it is not known whether the cytoskeleton is excitable in astrocytes and how the homeostatic function of astrocytes is linked to the dynamics of the cytoskeleton. Here it is shown that homeostatic regulation involves the excitable dynamics of actin in certain subcellular regions of astrocytes, especially near the cell boundary. The results further indicate that actin dynamics concentrate into "hotspot" regions that selectively respond to certain chemophysical stimuli, specifically the homeostatic challenges of ion or water concentration increases. Substrate topography makes the actin dynamics of astrocytes weaker. Super-resolution images demonstrate that surface topography is also associated with the predominant perpendicular alignment of actin filaments near the cell boundary, whereas flat substrates result in an actin cortex mainly parallel to the cell boundary. Additionally, coculture with neurons increases both the probability of actin dynamics and the strength of hotspots. The excitable systems character of actin thus makes astrocytes direct participants in neural cell network dynamics.

Abstract
Most neuroimaging studies investigating autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have focused on static brain function, but ignored the dynamic features of spontaneous brain activities in the temporal dimension. Research of dynamic brain regional activities might help to fully investigate the mechanisms of ASD patients. This study aimed to examine potential changes in the dynamic characteristics of regional neural activities in adult ASD patients and to detect whether the changes were associated with Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) scores. Resting-state functional MRI was obtained on 77 adult ASD patients and 76 healthy controls. The dynamic regional homogeneity (dReHo) and dynamic amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (dALFF) were compared between the two groups. Correlation analyses were also performed between dReHo and dALFF in areas showing group differences and ADOS scores. In ASD group, significant differences in dReHo were observed in the left middle temporal gyrus (MTG.L). Besides, we found increased dALFF in the left middle occipital gyrus (MOG.L), left superior parietal gyrus (SPG.L), left precuneus (PCUN.L), left inferior temporal gyrus (ITG.L), and right inferior frontal gyrus, orbital part (ORBinf.R). Furthermore, a significant positive correlation was found between dALFF in the PCUN.L and the ADOS_TOTAL scores, ADOS_SOCIAL scores; the dALFF in the ITG.L, SPG.L was positively associated with ADOS_SOCIAL scores. In conclusion, adults with ASD have a wide area of dynamic regional brain function abnormalities. These suggested that dynamic regional indexes might be used as a powerful measure to help us obtain a more comprehensive understanding of neural activity in adult ASD patients.

Abstract
Huanglongbing, a globally devastating citrus disease, is associated with Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas) and is mainly transmitted by Diaphorina citri. Verification of the distribution and dynamics of CLas in D. citri is critical to understanding CLas transmitted by vectors in nature. Here, the distribution and titers of CLas in different sexes and tissues of D. citri adults were investigated by fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH) and quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). Results showed that CLas had widespread distribution in the brain, salivary glands, digestive system, and reproductive system of both females and males, indicating a systemic infection of CLas in D. citri. Moreover, CLas fluorescence intensity and titers were significantly increased in both the digestive system and the female reproductive system with development and there was a marked decreased in both the salivary glands and the male brain, but there was no significant change in the female brain or the male reproductive system. Furthermore, the distribution and dynamics of CLas in embryos and nymphs were investigated. CLas was observed in all laid eggs and subsequent first-second-instar nymphs, indicating that a high percentage of embryos and nymphs resulting from infected D. citri mothers were infected with CLas.

Abstract
In real-time electroencephalography (EEG) analysis, the problem of observing dynamic changes and the problem of binary classification is a promising direction. EEG energy and complexity are important evaluation metrics in brain death determination in the field of EEG analysis. We developed two algorithms, dynamic turning tangent empirical mode decomposition to compute EEG energy and dynamic approximate entropy to compute EEG complexity for brain death determination. The developed algorithm is applied to analyze 50 EEG data of coma patients and 50 EEG data of brain death patients. The validity of the dynamic analysis is confirmed by the accuracy rate derived from the comparison with turning tangent empirical mode decomposition and approximate entropy algorithms. We evaluated the EEG data of three patients using the built diagnostic system. The experimental results visually showed that the EEG energy ratio was higher in a coma state than that in brain death, while the complexity was lower than that in brain death.

Abstract
The emergence of multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections has urged the need to find new strategies, such as the use of combinations of antibiotics. Among these, the combination of colistin with other antibiotics has been studied. Here, the action of combinations of colistin and rifampicin on both planktonic and sessile cells of colistin-resistant P. aeruginosa was studied. Dynamic biofilms were formed and treated with such a combination, resulting in an active killing effect of both colistin-resistant and colistin-susceptible P. aeruginosa in biofilms. The results suggest that the action of colistin on the outer membrane facilitates rifampicin penetration, regardless of the colistin-resistant phenotype. Based on these in vitro data, we propose a colistin-rifampicin combination as a promising treatment for infections caused by colistin-resistant P. aeruginosa.

Abstract
To survive underwater even in severely hypoxic water for a long period, the water spider has to periodically collect and replenish air into the diving bell. Inspired by this natural air-replenishing strategy, a water spider-inspired nanofiber (WSN) coating with underwater superaerophilicity displaying excellent and sustainable scalephobic capability is prepared. Air film on the WSN coating can be well-kept and further employed as the barrier layer for scale repellence. Significantly, scalephobic capability of the WSN coating mainly originates from two aspects: inhibiting interfacial nucleation and reducing interfacial adhesion of scale. Compared with previous studies, this WSN coating achieves excellent and sustainable scale repellence (≈ 98% reduction in scale deposition) even after a one-month dynamic scaling test. Thus, this air-replenishing strategy may raise a new avenue for advanced long-term scalephobic materials.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Health economic models commonly apply observed general population mortality rates to simulate future deaths in a cohort. This is potentially problematic, because mortality statistics are records of the past, not predictions for the future. We propose a new dynamic general population mortality modeling approach, which enables analysts to implement predictions of future changes in mortality rates. The potential implications of moving from a conventional static approach to a dynamic approach are illustrated using a case study. METHODS The model utilized in National Institute for Health and Care Excellence appraisal TA559, axicabtagene ciloleucel axi for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, was replicated. National mortality projections were taken from the UK Office for National Statistics. Mortality rates by age and sex were updated each modeled year with the first modeled year using 2022 rates, the second modeled year 2023 and so on. A total of 4 different assumptions were made around age distribution: fixed mean age, lognormal, normal, and gamma. The dynamic model outcomes were compared with those from a conventional static approach. RESULTS Including dynamic calculations increased the undiscounted life-years attributed to general population mortality by 2.4 to 3.3 years. This led to an increase in discounted incremental life-years within the case study of 0.38 to 0.45 years (8.1%-8.9%), and a commensurate impact on the economically justifiable price of £14 456 to £17 097. CONCLUSIONS The application of a dynamic approach is technically simple and has the potential to meaningfully affect estimates of cost-effectiveness analysis. Therefore, we call on health economists and health technology assessment bodies to move toward use of dynamic mortality modeling in future.

Dynamic Superior Capsular Reconstruction for Irreparable Massive Rotator Cuff Tears: Histologic Analysis in a Rat Model and Short-term Clinical Evaluation. Am J Sports Med 2023; 51:1255-1266. Abstract
BACKGROUND Superior capsular reconstruction (SCR) has been demonstrated to be a valuable treatment for patients with irreparable massive rotator cuff tears (IMRCTs). However, the torn medial supraspinatus (SSP) tendons, which acted as dynamic stabilizers, were left untreated in conventional SCR, and the dynamic force from the SSP tendon was not restored. PURPOSE To evaluate the effect of dynamic SCR (dSCR) on fascia-to-bone healing in a rat model, and to compare the short-term clinical effectiveness of dSCR and SCR using autologous fascia lata (FL) in patients with IMRCTs. STUDY DESIGN Controlled laboratory study and cohort study; Level of evidence, 3. METHODS A total of 50 rats were divided randomly into 2 groups: the dSCR group and the SCR group (25 rats per group). First, chronic IMRCTs were created, and then the torn tendons in both groups were subjected to SCR using autologous thoracolumbar fascial (TLF) grafts. The remnant of the SSP tendon was sutured to the medial part of the TLF graft in the dSCR group but not in the SCR group. Histologic sections were assessed at 1, 2, 4, 8, and 16 weeks postoperatively. In the clinical study, 22 patients (9 SCR, 13 dSCR) were analyzed. The recovery of shoulder function, including the active range of motion (ROM), visual analog scale (VAS), American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons score, Constant score, and University of California Los Angeles score, acromiohumeral distance (AHD), and fatty infiltration, was evaluated before surgery and at the last follow-up. RESULTS Histologic analysis of the fascia-to-bone junction in the rat model showed that the TLF gradually migrated into tendon-like tissue over the rotator cuff defects in both groups, and the modified tendon maturation score of the fascia-to-bone interface in the dSCR group was higher than that in the SCR group at 4 weeks (12.20 ± 1.30 vs 14.60 ± 1.52; P = .004), 8 weeks (19.60 ± 1.14 vs 22.20 ± 1.10; P = .019), and 16 weeks (23.80 ± 0.84 vs 26.20 ± 0.84 P = .024). The dSCR group showed earlier fibrocartilage cell formation and angiogenesis. In the clinical study, all 22 patients completed a minimum of 12 months of follow-up after surgery, and the mean follow-up duration was 22.89 ± 7.59 months in the SCR group and 25.62 ± 7.32 months in the dSCR group. The patients in both groups showed significant improvements in terms of ROM, shoulder function scores, and AHD. At the last follow-up, abduction (56.67°± 27.39° vs 86.54°± 30.37°; P = .029), external rotation (25.00°± 9.35° vs 33.08°± 8.55°; P = .049), internal rotation cone rank (-2.78 ± 2.44 vs -4.38 ± 1.12; P = .049), VAS (-3.00 ± 0.87 vs -3.92 ± 0.95; P = .031) and Constant (47.89 ± 15.39 vs 59.15 ± 9.74; P = .048) scores, and the AHD improvement degree (3.06 ± 1.41 mm vs 4.38 ± 1.35 mm; P = .039) in the dSCR group were significantly improved compared with those in the SCR group. The results of fatty infiltration at the last follow-up showed that there was significant improvement compared with the preoperative results in both the conventional SCR (P = .036) and the dSCR (P = .001) groups. However, there were no significant differences between the 2 groups (P = .511). CONCLUSION dSCR can promote faster fascia-to-bone healing in a rat model, and the dSCR technique could provide a preferable treatment option for patients with IMRCTs. CLINICAL RELEVANCE dSCR might restore the dynamic of SSP in some sense and then improve the fatty infiltration in the SSP.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Evidence has shown an association between obesity and an increased risk of wound infection after caesarean section. This study was designed to examine if abdominal subcutaneous adiposity impacts upon cutaneous perfusion dynamics. METHODS Mild cool challenge, followed by real-time video thermography, was developed to map the appearance of abdominal 'hot spots'. Correspondence of marked 'spots' with audible Doppler and colour and power Doppler ultrasound was performed. RESULTS 60 healthy, afebrile, women (20-68 years; BMI 18.5-44 kg/m2) were recruited. Hot spot appearance consistently corresponded with audible Doppler sounds. Colour and power Doppler ultrasound revealed vessels at depths of 3-22 mm. No statistically significant interactions for BMI, abdominal circumference or environmental parameters were observed for hot spot count. The temperature of cold stimulus was significant for effects on spot count, but only for the first minute (p = 0.001). Thereafter, effects on spot numbers were not significant. CONCLUSIONS Cutaneous 'perforator' mapping of the abdomen (via hot spot appearance) in healthy women, as a potential and future method for risk of perfusion-dependent wound healing complications, reveals that bedside mapping of skin perfusion is feasible over a short interval. Hot spot number was not influenced by BMI or indicators of central fat distribution (abdominal circumference) indicating variability in an individual's vascular anatomy. This study provides the underpinning methodology for personalised perfusion assessment after incisional surgery which may be a more reliable indicator of potential healing complications than body habitus as is currently the norm.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study aimed to evaluate the influence of drug price dynamics in cost-effectiveness analyses. METHODS We evaluated scenarios involving typical US drug price increases during the exclusivity period and price decreases after the loss of exclusivity (LOE). Worked examples are presented using the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review's assessments of tezepelumab for the treatment of severe asthma and targeted immune modulators for rheumatoid arthritis. RESULTS Tezepelumab case: yearly 2% price increases during the period of exclusivity and a post-LOE price decrease of 25% yielded an incremental cost per quality-adjusted life-year (QALY) gained that increased over the base case from $430 300 to $444 600 (+3.2%). Yearly 2% price increases followed by a steeper post-LOE price reduction of 40% resulted in a cost per QALY gained of $401 400 (6.8% reduction vs the base case). Rheumatoid arthritis case: incorporating post-LOE price reductions for etanercept (intervention) and adalimumab (comparator) ranging from 25% to 40% yielded an incremental cost per QALY of $121 000 and $122 300, respectively (< 3% increase from the base case of $119 200/QALY). Including a 2% yearly price increase during the projected exclusivity periods of both intervention and comparator increased the cost per QALY gained by > 60%. CONCLUSION Two biologic treatment cases incorporating price dynamics in cost-effectiveness analyses had varied impacts on the cost-effectiveness ratio depending on the magnitude of pre-LOE price increase and post-LOE price decrease and whether the LOE also affected the comparator. Yearly price increase magnitude during the period of exclusivity, among other factors, may counterbalance the effects of lower post-LOE intervention prices.

Abstract
This review focuses on the formation and preparation of defects, the dynamic evolution process of defects, and the influence of defect dynamic evolution on catalytic reactions. The summary of the current advances in the dynamic evolution process of defects in oxygen evolution reaction, hydrogen evolution reaction, nitrogen reduction reaction, oxygen reduction reaction, and carbon dioxide reduction reaction, and the given perspectives are expected to provide a more comprehensive understanding of defective electrocatalysts on the structural evolution process during electrocatalysis and the reaction mechanisms, especially for the defect dynamic evolution on the performance in catalytic reactions.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION This study evaluated our experience with dynamic computed tomography angiography (dCTA) as a diagnostic tool after endovascular aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR) with respect to the endoleak classification and the available literature. METHODS We reviewed all patients who underwent dCTA because of suspected endoleaks after the EVAR and classified the endoleaks in these patients based on standard CTA (sCTA) and dCTA. We systematically reviewed all available publications that investigated the diagnostic accuracy of dCTA compared with other imaging techniques. RESULTS In our single-center series, 16 dCTAs were performed in 16 patients. In 11 patients, the undefined endoleaks that appeared on sCTA scans were successfully classified using dCTA. In three patients with a type II endoleak and aneurysm sac growth, inflow arteries were successfully identified using dCTA, and in two patients, aneurysm sac growth was observed without a visible endoleak on both sCTA and dCTA scans. The dCTA revealed four occult endoleaks, all of which were type II endoleaks. The systematic review identified six series comparing dCTA with other imaging methods. All articles reported an excellent outcome regarding the endoleak classification. In published dCTA protocols, the number and timing of phases varied greatly, affecting radiation exposure. Time attenuation curves of the current series show that some phases do not contribute to the endoleak classification and that the use of a test bolus improves the timing of the dCTA. CONCLUSIONS The dCTA is a valuable additional tool that can identify and classify endoleaks more accurately than the sCTA. Published dCTA protocols vary greatly and should be optimized to decrease radiation exposure as long as accuracy can be maintained. The use of a test bolus to improve the timing of the dCTA is recommended, but the optimal number of scanning phases is yet to be determined.
