Biography: Dr. Wu is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago. She earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Medicine. She completed her residency in Cardiology and infectious diseases in China before moving to Germany, where she received her M.D. and her Ph.D. in molecular cell biology. Her postdoctoral training was in the laboratory of Dr. Hossein Ardehali at Northwestern University with funding from an American Heart Association (AHA) fellowship and an AHA Scientist Development Grant Award. Since accepting her faculty position at the University of Chicago, she has been supported by Pilot and Feasibility (P&F) grants from Chicago DRTC and NIH RO1. She has contributed significantly to the basic science research of cardiovascular diseases, evidenced by her publication record of 36 publications in leading medical journals, such as Front Cell Dev Biol, Cells, JCI, EMBO, Circulation Research, Nature Communications, and Oxid Med Cell Longev. Her paper was the first to illustrate ARNT (HIF1b) 's role in heart pathophysiology and diabetic hearts. Her current interest focuses on how cardiac microvascular function adapts to pathophysiological stresses, such as cardiac ischemia-reperfusion injury, diabetes, and sepsis. She currently serves as a grant peer reviewer for American Heart Association (AHA), such as TPA Basic Cell Sciences and AHA Established Investigators Award Peer Reviewer, and a reviewer for more than 40 international journals, such as Circulation, JIC insight, Cells, and Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy, Nature. In addition, she is on Editorial Boards for several journals of Clinic and cardiology research as well as Guest Associate Editor in Nutritional Immunology, Frontiers in Immunology, Genes, Biomolecules, and Cells. Throughout Her career, she has been honored with several prestigious accolades. She received the Outstanding Chinese Student Studying Abroad and placed first in the Rudolf Thauer Poster Prize Competition hosted by the German Society for Cardiology. She was awarded Young Investigator Award at CAAC/ATVB Annual conference (First place) and the Outstanding Junior Faculty Award (First place) hosted by ACRE/BCVS Annual conference.
