Abstract
Research on mentoring programs has portrayed them almost exclusively beneficial for newcomer retention. Drawing from the social cognitive model of career management and the boundaryless career perspective, we depart from this predominant view and examine the "double-edged sword" effects of career support mentoring on newcomer turnover. We propose that career support mentoring received by newcomers is likely to elicit both internal proactive socialization and external career self-management, which act as countervailing forces driving newcomer turnover in opposite directions (i.e., the retention pathway and the unintended detrimental pathway). We further propose that the organizational role of the mentor-supervisor versus nonsupervisor-is critical in determining which pathway prevails. We conducted two multiwave newcomer studies to test our hypotheses. In Study 1 (N = 495), we found that received career support mentoring was associated with lower newcomer turnover probability through the serial mediation of internal proactive socialization and perceived internal marketability but higher newcomer turnover probability through the serial mediation of external career self-management and perceived external marketability. In Study 2 (N = 193), we found that received career support mentoring was associated with lower newcomer turnover intention through the serial mediation of internal career advancement expectation and internal proactive socialization but higher newcomer turnover intention through the serial mediation of external career advancement expectation and external career self-management. In both studies, the unintended detrimental pathway was significant only when a newcomer's mentor was not a supervisor. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2024 APA, all rights reserved).

Abstract
Speckle is a significant challenge for laser imaging systems, as it degrades the image quality. In this study, an improved theoretical model is established to describe the speckle features in free-space optical path. The model quantitatively defines the relationship between speckle contrast and five parameters: wavelength, screen surface roughness, light-spot diameter, incidence angle, and observation angle. Subsequently, the theoretical results are experimentally verified. This study enhances the theory of speckle suppression in free-space optical path, and thus enriches the existing speckle suppression theory. The speckle features based on free-space surface-scattered fields have the potential for applications related to non-imaging optics.

Rapid fractionation of corn stover by microwave-assisted protic ionic liquid [TEA][HSO 4] for fermentative acetone-butanol-ethanol production. BIOTECHNOLOGY FOR BIOFUELS AND BIOPRODUCTS 2024; 17:62. Abstract
BACKGROUND The use of ionic liquids (ILs) to fractionate lignocelluloses for various bio-based chemicals productions is in the ascendant. On this basis, the protic ILs consisting of triethylammonium hydrogen sulfate ([TEA][HSO4]) possessed great promise due to the low price, low pollution, and high efficiency. In this study, the microwave-assistant [TEA][HSO4] fractionation process was established for corn stover fractionation, so as to facilitate the monomeric sugars production and supported the downstream acetone-butanol-ethanol (ABE) fermentation. RESULTS The assistance of microwave irradiation could obviously shorten the fractionation period of corn stover. Under the optimized condition (190 W for 3 min), high xylan removal (93.17 ± 0.63%) and delignification rate (72.90 ± 0.81%) were realized. The mechanisms for the promotion effect of the microwave to the protic ILs fractionation process were ascribed to the synergistic effect of the IL and microwaves to the depolymerization of lignocellulose through the ionic conduction, which can be clarified by the characterization of the pulps and the isolated lignin specimens. Downstream valorization of the fractionated pulps into ABE productions was also investigated. The [TEA][HSO4] free corn stover hydrolysate was capable of producing 12.58 g L-1 of ABE from overall 38.20 g L-1 of monomeric sugars without detoxification and additional nutrients supplementation. CONCLUSIONS The assistance of microwave irradiation could significantly promote the corn stover fractionation by [TEA][HSO4]. Mass balance indicated that 8.1 g of ABE and 16.61 g of technical lignin can be generated from 100 g of raw corn stover based on the novel fractionation strategy.

Abstract
Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) offer a potential opportunity in biomass utilization industries. This work emphasized the impact of hydrogen bond donors (HBD) and acceptors (HBA) on deconstruction and valorization of rice straw. Acidity, alkyl chain length, hydrogen bonding ability and functional groups of HBD and HBA appeared to be important factors affecting the fractionated pulps and lignins, which further influenced ethanol fermentation. Among the candidate DESs, lactic acid/guanidine hydrochloride (LGH) was proved to be the most suitable one due to the excellent delignification and xylan removal. For the downstream fermentation process, 0.47 g g-1 of bioethanol with 0.55 g/L h-1 of productivity can be obtained from the LGH pulp's hydrolysate. Mass balance showed 302.8 g bioethanol and 119.0 g technical lignin can be co-generated from 1 kg dried rice straw. This "green" valorization strategy offers a promising scheme in biorefinery of lignocelluloses.

Abstract
In this study, a surfactant-assisted diluted ethylenediamine (EDA) fractionation process was investigated for co-generation of technical lignin and biobutanol from corn stover. The results showed that the addition of PEG 8000 significantly enhanced cellulose recovery (88.9 %) and lignin removal (68.9 %) in the solid fraction. Moreover, the pulp achieved 86.5 % glucose yield and 82.6 % xylose yield in enzymatic hydrolysis. Structural characterization confirmed that the fractionation process promoted the preservation of active β-O-4 bonds (35.8/100R) in isolated lignin and functionalized the lignin through structural modification using EDA and surfactant grafting. The enzymatic hydrolysate of the pulps yielded a sugar solution for acetone-butanol-ethanol (ABE) fermentation, resulting in an ABE concentration of 15.4 g/L and an overall yield of 137.2 g/Kg of dried corn stalk. Thus, the surfactant-assisted diluted EDA fractionation has the potential to enhance the overall economic feasibility of second-generation biofuels production within the framework of biorefinery.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The effective valorization of lignin and carbohydrates in lignocellulose matrix under the concept of biorefinery is a primary strategy to produce sustainable chemicals and fuels. Based on the reductive catalytic fractionation (RCF), lignin in lignocelluloses can be depolymerized into viscous oils, while the highly delignified pulps with high polysaccharides retention can be transformed into various chemicals. RESULTS A biorefinery paradigm for sequentially valorization of the main components in poplar sawdust was constructed. In this process, the well-defined low-molecular-weight phenols and bioethanol were co-generated by tandem chemo-catalysis in the RCF stage and bio-catalysis in fermentation stage. In the RCF stage, hydrogen transfer reactions were conducted in one-pot process using Raney Ni as catalyst, while the isopropanol (2-PrOH) in the initial liquor was served as a hydrogen donor and the solvent for lignin dissolution. Results indicated the proportion of the 2-PrOH in the initial liquor of RCF influenced the chemical constitution and yield of the lignin oil, which also affected the characteristics of the pulps and the following bioethanol production. A 67.48 ± 0.44% delignification with 20.65 ± 0.31% of monolignols yield were realized when the 2-PrOH:H2O ratio in initial liquor was 7:3 (6.67 wt% of the catalyst loading, 200 °C for 3 h). The RCF pulp had higher carbohydrates retention (57.96 ± 2.78 wt%), which was converted to 21.61 ± 0.62 g/L of bioethanol with a yield of 0.429 ± 0.010 g/g in fermentation using an engineered S. cerevisiae strain. Based on the mass balance analysis, 104.4 g of ethanol and 206.5 g of lignin oil can be produced from 1000 g of the raw poplar sawdust. CONCLUSIONS The main chemical components in poplar sawdust can be effectively transformed into lignin oil and bioethanol. The attractive results from the biorefinery process exhibit great promise for the production of valuable biofuels and chemicals from abundant lignocellulosic materials.

Abstract
Abstract
Introduction/Objective
Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS), mesenchymal derived tumor, is predominantly diagnosed in the pediatric population but may present at any age. Less than 1% of all adult solid malignant cancers are sarcomas, and rhabdomyosarcoma comprises <0.001% of adult sarcomas. Primary intracranial RMS is rare and has been reported in the cerebrum, cerebellum, brainstem, and the meninges. The occurrence of a primary intracranial RMS arising from the pineal gland is exceedingly rare.
Methods/Case Report
An adult male presented to the ED with complaint of several months of headaches, progressive confusion, forgetfulness and most recently difficulty in finding words. CT scan showed a large mass arising from the pineal gland causing obstructive hydrocephalus. Subsequently, the patient underwent excisional biopsy. The histopathology examination revealed small round basophilic cells and large polygonal cells with large eccentric nuclei and prominent nucleoli, abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm containing globular paranuclear eosinophilic inclusions, characteristic of rhabdoid cells. Immunohistochemical (IHC) showed tumor cells are positive for Desmin, MyoD1, CK8/18, INI1 (hSNF5; SMARCB1) with retained nuclear expression and faint positivity for Synaptophysin and focally positivity for Neurofilament. The tumor cells showed negative staining for Pankeratin, SOX10, Oct4, SALL4, INSM1, LCA AND CD30, which excluded the possibility of Germ cell tumor and Pineoblastoma. The case was finalized as primary malignant neoplasm, consistent with Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma of pineal gland.

Conclusion
This case highlights the rare occurrence of rhabdomyosarcoma originating from the pineal gland in an adult male. Morphologic and immunohistochemical findings were consistent with embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma. Since primary rhabdomyosarcoma of the pineal gland is rare, this case contributes to the limited body of literature on such cases. It underscores the importance of considering unusual entities in intracranial tumors. The distinct morphology and the use of IHC aids in diagnosing this rare entity.

Abstract
Aiming to promote the application of D-mannitol in the field of phase change thermal storage, obstacles, including low thermal storage efficiency and high supercooling, should be properly disposed of. The adoption of adaptable and low-cost supporting materials to make shape-stable phase change materials (ss-PCMs) affordable is a primary solution to solve the above shortcomings. In this study, high-performance ss-PCM for effective medium-temperature heat storage was prepared using expanded vermiculite as the support for D-mannitol preservation. Among the three candidates that treated the raw vermiculite by dilute acid, calcination, and microwave heating, the calcinated expanded vermiculite (CV) was characterized as the most suitable one. After impregnating D-mannitol into the CV carrier by vacuum, a melting enthalpy of 205.1 J/g and a crystallization enthalpy of 174.1 J/g were achieved by the as-received CV/D-mannitol ss-PCM. Additionally, the supercooling of the ss-PCM was reduced to 45.6 °C. The novel CV/D-mannitol ss-PCM also exhibited excellent reusability and stability. All the findings indicate that the abundant and inexpensive CV exhibited great potential as the supporting material for D-mannitol-based ss-PCMs, which allow effective waste heat recovery and temperature regulation.

Abstract
Gut microbiota (GM) dysbiosis has been increasingly associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, the association between APOE4, the most common genetic risk factor for sporadic AD, and GM in AD remains unclear. In this study, we conducted a comparative analysis of the GM of participants from China and the USA, with and without APOE4 genes and with or without AD (67 AD cases, 67 control cases). Our results revealed that the GM alpha diversity was not different between groups (AD_APOE4, Control_APOE4, AD_non-APOE4, and Control_non-APOE4) (419.031 ± 143.631 vs 391.091 ± 126.081, 351.086 ± 169.174 and 386.089 ± 177.200, respectively. P > 0.05). Interestingly, individuals in the AD_APOE4 group had different bacterial compositions and bacterial biomarkers. The Kruskal-Wallis rank sum test indicated that the abundances of many bacterial species in the AD_APOE4 patients differed from those in control individuals, including decreases in unclassified_g__Escherichia-Shigella (1.763 ± 6.73, 4.429 ± 11.13, 8.245 ± 16.55, and 5.69 ± 13.91 in four groups, respectively; P < 0.05), and unclassified_g_Clostridium_sensu_stricto_1 (0.1519 ± 0.348, 2.502 ± 5.913, 0.5146 ± 0.9487, 1.063 ± 3.428 in four groups, respectively; P < 0.05), and increases in gut_metagenome_g_Faecalibacterium (2.885 ± 4.47, 2.174 ± 3.957, 0.5765 ± 1.784, 1.582 ± 2.92 in four groups, respectively. P < 0.01) and unclassified_g_Bacteroides (3.875 ± 3.738, 2.47 ± 2.748, 2.046 ± 3.674, 3.206 ± 3.446 in four groups, respectively; P < 0.05). In the KEGG pathway level 2 analysis, we identified three significant differences in relative abundances of predicted functions between AD_APOE4 and AD_non-APOE4_carrier groups: neurodegenerative diseases (0.0007 ± 0.0005 vs 0.0009 ± 0.0004; P < 0.01), metabolism (0.0240 ± 0.0003 vs 0.0250 ± 0.0003; P < 0.05), and biosynthesis of other secondary metabolites (0.0094 ± 0.0002 vs 0.0090 ± 0.0002; P < 0.05). Receiver operating characteristic curves further demonstrated an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.74 for the discrimination of AD_APOE4_carrier and AD_non-APOE4_carrier individuals.

Abstract
Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola (Xoo) is a type of bacteria that causes bacterial leaf blight disease in rice plants. This disease is substantially harmful, and the current prevention and control measures are facing challenges. This study has investigated the effectiveness of the control activity that the endophytic fungus NS7 fermented from Dendrobium candidum possessed against Xoo. Twenty-eight novel mesoionic compounds were designed and synthesized based on the natural compound D. These compounds displayed moderate to excellent anti-Xoo activity in vitro. Notably, compound 24 exhibited prominent anti-Xoo activity in vitro with an EC50 value of 40.3 mg/L, which was better than that of the positive control thiodiazole copper (TC)(71.2 mg/L) and the lead compound D (108.1 mg/L). In vivo pot experiments on Xoo showed that compound 24 exhibited protective and curative activities of 39.4 and 30.4%, respectively, which were better than those of TC (35.7 and 28.8%, respectively). Further, a preliminary mechanism study indicated that compound 24 could enhance the activity of defense enzymes to improve the ability for anti-Xoo. Meanwhile, compound 24 could also regulate the carbon fixation in photosynthetic organisms, which might be related to the enhanced immune function of rice. This study offers a new strategy for discovering antibacterial agents based on natural products.

Abstract
Bean aphid (Aphis craccivora) resistance to commonly used insecticides has made controlling these pests increasingly difficult. In this study, we introduced isoxazole and isoxazoline, which possess insecticidal activity, into pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidinone through a scaffold hopping strategy. We designed and synthesized a series of novel mesoionic compounds that exhibited a range of insecticidal activities against A. craccivora. The LC50 values of compounds E1 and E2 were 0.73 and 0.88 μg/mL, respectively, better than triflumezopyrim (LC50 = 2.43 μg/mL). Proteomics and molecular docking analyses showed that E1 might influence the A. craccivora nervous system by interacting with neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs). This research offers a new approach to the advancement of novel mesoionic insecticides.

Abstract
Palmitoleic acid (POA) has been widely applied to nutrition and pharmaceutical industry. However, high cost of scale-up fermentation restricts the extensive application of POA. Hence, we investigated the availability of corn stover hydrolysate (CSH) as carbon source in POA production by engineered S. cerevisiae. Although the yeast growth was inhibited to some extent by CSH, the POA production with CSH was slightly higher than that with pure glucose. The C/N ratio of 120 and addition of 1 g/L lysine raised the POA titer up to 2.19 g/L and 2.05 g/L, respectively. Two-stage cultivation could increase the POA titer by upregulating the gene expression of key enzymes in fatty acid synthesis pathway. A high POA content of 57.5% (v/v) and a highest POA titer of 6.56 g/L were achieved under the optimized conditions. These findings provide a feasible approach for sustainable production of POA or its derivatives from CSH.

Abstract
In this study, based on the high-throughput automatic sample pretreatment with immunoaffinity magnetic beads with oriented immobilized antibodies, grain and feed fumonisin (FB) content was detected using pre-column automatic derivatization of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The FB capacity of well-oriented antibody immunoaffinity magnetic beads was 1.5-1.8 times that of magnetic beads with randomly fixed antibody. This pre-column automatic derivatization method using an autosampler can reduce error from manual injection and improve detection efficiency. The spiked recoveries for three different concentrations in maize, husked rice, and pig feed under optimized conditions were 84.6-104.0% (RSD < 9.3%). Our novel method was also applied to the analysis of FBs in 63 maize samples collected from the main maize-production regions in China. The results showed that as latitude increased, the contamination level of FBs tended to decrease. High temperature and high humidity are also more favorable for FB growth.

Abstract
Shape-stable phase change materials (ss-PCMs) are extensively applied in renewable energy storage. The core for realizing high latent heat and good thermal stability of ss-PCMs is the designation of suitable supporting skeletons that can effectively preserve the PCMs from leaking out. In this study, ss-PCMs impregnated by D-mannitol were prepared using a waste yeast-derived carbon (YC) as the support material. YC possesses a large surface area (669.90 m2/g), which can provide sufficient phase transition space and nucleation sites for D-mannitol. The results indicated that a reduced supercooling of 44.76 °C for YC/D-mannitol ss-PCMs can be realized. The ss-PCMs also exhibited good cycling stability, with latent heat loss rates of 4.00% and 2.15% after 200 thermal cycles. We further demonstrate that YC provides restricted space for mannitol to inhibit the supercooling mechanism. The YC/D-mannitol ss-PCMs exhibited great promise for solar heat storage and industrial waste heat recovery in the medium temperature domain.

Abstract
The electroenzymatic valorization of biomass derivatives into valuable biochemicals has a promising outlook. However, bottlenecks including poor electron transfer between the electrode surface and oxidoreductase, inefficient regeneration of cofactors, and high cost of enzymes and electron mediators hindered the realistic applications of the technique. Herein, to address the above technical barriers, a novel bio-electrocatalytic system that integrates the electrochemical NADH regeneration and enzymatic reaction was constructed, using an orderly assembled composite bioelectrode consisting of an outer immobilized enzyme layer and a sandwiched redox mediator rhodium complex layer. The as-prepared composite bioelectrode was further applied for the highly selective hydrogenation of furfural into furfural alcohol. Results indicated that the enzyme activity was significantly improved, while the furfural valorization was promoted by effective interfacial electron transition and co-factor regeneration on the composite bioelectrode. Considerable high furfural conversion (96.4%) can be achieved accompanied by a furfural alcohol selectivity of 90.0% at -1.2 V (vs Ag/AgCl). The novel composite bioelectrode also showed good stability and reusability. Up to 85.1% of the original furfural alcohol selectivity can be preserved after 10 times of recycling. This work presents a promising green alternative for the valorization of furfural, which also shows great potential extending to the valorization of other biomass compounds.

Abstract
Increased absorption of visible light, low electron-hole recombination, and fast electron transfer are the major objectives for highly effective photocatalysts in biocatalytic artificial photosynthetic systems. In this study, a polydopamine (PDA) layer containing electron mediator, [M], and NAD+ cofactor was assembled on the outer surface of ZnIn2 S4 nanoflower, and the as-prepared nanoparticle, ZnIn2 S4 /PDA@poly/[M]/NAD+ , was used for photoenzymatic methanol production from CO2 . Because of effective capturing of visible light, reduced distance of electron transfer, and elimination of electron-holes recombination, a high NADH regeneration of 80.7±1.43 % could be obtained using the novel ZnIn2 S4 /PDA@poly/[M]/NAD+ . In the artificial photosynthesis system, a maximum methanol production of 116.7±11.8 μm was obtained. The enzymes and nanoparticles in the hybrid bio-photocatalysis system could be easily recovered using the ultrafiltration membrane at the bottom of the photoreactor. This is due to the successful immobilization of the small blocks including the electron mediator and cofactor on the surface of the photocatalyst. The ZnIn2 S4 /PDA@poly/[M]/NAD+ photocatalyst exhibited good stability and recyclability for methanol production. The novel concept presented in this study shows great promise for other sustainable chemical productions through artificial photoenzymatic catalysis.

Abstract
Abstract
Introduction/Objective
Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a type of respiratory failure caused by diffuse injury to surfactant-producing cells and fluid buildup in the alveoli. ARDS impairs lung's ability and is potentially fatal. Tumor lysis syndrome is an oncologic emergency mostly triggered by the initiation of chemotherapy causing life- threatening metabolic cascades even with preventable therapies.
Methods/Case Report
We report an autopsy case of a 71-year-old male who was referred to the Emergency Department with complaints of poor appetite, dizziness, nausea. He was found to have a white blood cell count over 1,000,000, with hemoglobulin of 7.7, platelet count of 95, uric acid 11.5, LDH 486. He was diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) involving peripheral blood and received Allopurinol for tumor lysis syndrome prophylaxis. He started to receive Rituximab. Soon after, he became lethargic and more hypoxemic and needed intubation. But he became pulseless and he did not recover.
Results (if a Case Study enter NA)
The autopsy revealed an extensive spread of the lymphoma to multi-organs, including the esophagus, spleen, liver, kidney, heart, prostate. Bone marrow and lymph nodes were diffusely infiltrated by atypical medium lymphocytes. Stains on lymph nodes show the atypical lymphocytes are positive for CD20, CD5, Cyclin D1, Bcl2, negative for CD23, Bcl6, with a Ki-67 proliferative index around 40%, consistent with MCL. The patient's lungs were heavy and microscopic examination confirmed ARDS.
Conclusion
We, here describe a patient with MCL who developed tumor lysis syndrome with Rituximab monotherapy and died of ARDS shortly after. It's rarely reported that tumor lysis syndrome results in fatal ARDS.

Abstract
Water activity plays a significant role in affecting CO2 and mycotoxin levels. Models were developed to predict contamination with ZEN and DON in stored wheat. These models + multi-parameter integrated sensors for real-time mycotoxin monitoring.
Reliable prediction of the risk of mycotoxin contamination in post-harvest wheat will aid in improvement of the quality and safety. To establish the relationship between Fusarium pseudograminearum mycotoxins and CO2 production, changes in their respective concentrations were monitored for the artificial contamination of wheat under different values of water activities (0.84 aw, 0.92 aw, and 0.97 aw) and temperatures (20 ℃, 25 ℃, and 30 ℃). Water activity played a significant role in all these processes. CO2 concentration together with moisture content and temperature were used as the main parameters to establish DON and ZEN contamination prediction models. The prediction accuracy for DON was 98.15 % (R2 = 0.990) and 90.74 % for ZEN (R2 = 0.982). These models were combined with T/RH/MC/CO2 multi-parameter integrated sensors to form an early warning system, which offers a great prospect to minimise the risk of DON/ZEN contamination in post-harvest wheat.
