Abstract
Temperature can significantly (P < 0.05) affect plant growth by modifying water use strategies, which are determined by intrinsic water use efficiency (WUEi). Red Heart Chinese Fir (Cunninghamia lanceolata) is one of the most important ecological and economic plantation species in China. However, the C. lanceolata water use strategy in response to increased temperatures and uneven temporal distribution of precipitation during the growing season is rarely reported. In a 7-year-old C. lanceolata plantation, differences in WUEi and C and N concentrations in different organs were analysed by anova, and the δ13C stable isotope, C, and N concentrations in stems determined at different tree heights. Stepwise regression and variance inflation factor were used to remove autocorrelated factors, and structural equation modelling was then used to explore relationships between WUEi and climate and biological factors. WUEi differed significantly between leaf and branch at different standardized precipitation evapotranspiration indices (SPEI). WUEi and N concentration decreased with age. The highest WUEi in branches and leaves were 92.7 and 88.4 μmol·mol-1 in 2020 (SPEI = 0.00), respectively. δ13C increased with relative tree height but N concentration and C/N ratio were not affected. Air temperatures has increased in between 2014 and 2020. WUEi and N concentration decreased with increasing branch and leaf age, but C concentration increased. SPEI significantly positively affected WUEi (P < 0.05), and WUEi was significantly negatively related to C concentration, which is consistent with the trade-off between C and water.

Abstract
Objective: To understand the epidemiological characteristics of fatal drowning in children in Zhejiang Province in 2022, analyze factors such as the swimming ability of children, the caregiver behavior at drowning site, types of first aid personnel and methods of first aid of unintentional fatal drowning and provide evidence for targeted intervention. Methods: Using the "Survey Form of Fatal Drowning Case in Children" designed by National Center for Chronic and Non-communicable Disease Control and Prevention of the China CDC, we collected case information of children aged 0-17 years who died due to drowning in Zhejiang in 2022 from medical history/death investigation records, telephone interviews, and home visits. Results: A total of 341 fatal drowning cases in children occurred in Zhejiang in 2022 and 330 cases were investigated (96.77%). The male to female of the cases was 2.33∶1, most cases were aged 15-17 years and 0-4 years, and 54.24% of fatal drowning cases occurred in children from other provinces. In the drowning cases, 83.33% were unintentional ones, and the proportion of intentional fatal drowning cases in children increased with age. Fatal drowning cases mainly occurred in open natural water bodies and public water storage facilities. More fatal drowning cases occurred in open natural water bodies in older children, while more fatal drowning cases occurred in public water storage facilities in younger children. In 275 children who died due to unintentional drowning, 73.09% could not swim, and only 1.09% were fully supervised by adults within an arm's length. First aid personnel, mainly medical staffs, bystanders and adult caregivers, were present for 47.63% fatal drowning cases. The proportion of the cases who had cardiopulmonary resuscitation as the first aid within 5 minutes was 2.18%. Conclusions: Drowning poses a serious threat to children's lives and there are differences in reasons and locations of fatal drowning in children in different age groups in Zhejiang Province in 2022. It is necessary to conduct to interventions to improve children's swimming skills, strengthen effective adult care and conduct health education about field first aid of drowning to reduce the incidence of drowning and related deaths in children.

Abstract
Sutures are commonly used in surgical procedures and have immense potential for direct drug delivery into the wound site. However, incorporating active pharmaceutical ingredients into the sutures has always been challenging as their mechanical strength deteriorates. This study proposes a new method to produce microspheres-embedded surgical sutures that offer adequate mechanical properties for effective wound healing applications. The study used curcumin, a bioactive compound found in turmeric, as a model drug due to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-bacterial properties, which make it an ideal candidate for a surgical suture drug delivery system. Curcumin-loaded microspheres were produced using the emulsion solvent evaporation method with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as the aqueous phase. The microspheres' particle sizes, drug loading (DL) capacity, and encapsulation efficiency (EE) were investigated. Microspheres were melt-extruded with polycaprolactone and polyethylene glycol via a 3D bioplotter, followed by a drawing process to optimise the mechanical strength. The sutures' thermal, physiochemical, and mechanical properties were investigated, and the drug delivery and biocompatibility were evaluated. The results showed that increasing the aqueous phase concentration resulted in smaller particle sizes and improved DL capacity and EE. However, if PVA was used at 3% w/v or below, it prevented aggregate formation after lyophilisation, and the average particle size was found to be 34.32 ± 12.82 μm. The sutures produced with the addition of microspheres had a diameter of 0.38 ± 0.02 mm, a smooth surface, minimal tissue drag, and proper tensile strength. Furthermore, due to the encapsulated drug-polymer structure, the sutures exhibited a prolonged and sustained drug release of up to 14 d. Microsphere-loaded sutures demonstrated non-toxicity and accelerated wound healing in thein vitrostudies. We anticipate that the microsphere-loaded sutures will serve as an excellent biomedical device for facilitating wound healing.

Abstract
AIM To establish a machine-learning model based on dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to differentiate combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma (cHCC-CC) from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) before surgery. MATERIALS AND METHODS Clinical and MRI data of 194 patients with histopathologically diagnosed cHCC-CC (n=52) or HCC (n=142) were analysed retrospectively. ITK-SNAP software was used to delineate three-dimensional (3D) lesions and extract high-throughput features. Feature selection was carried out based on Pearson's correlation coefficient and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression analysis. A radiomics model (radiomics features), a clinical model (i.e., clinical-image features), and a fusion model (i.e., radiomics features + clinical-image features) were established using six machine-learning classifiers. The performance of each model in distinguishing between cHCC-CC and HCC was evaluated with the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, the area under the ROC curve (AUC), sensitivity, and specificity. RESULTS Significant differences in liver cirrhosis, tumour number, shape, edge, peritumoural enhancement in the arterial phase, and lipid were identified between cHCC-CC and HCC patients (p<0.05). The AUC of the fusion model based on logistic regression was 0.878 (95% CI: 0.766-0.949) in the arterial phase in the test set, and the sensitivity/specificity was 0.844/0.714; however, the AUC of the clinical and radiomics models was 0.759 (95% CI: 0.663-0.861) and 0.838 (95% CI: 0.719-0.921) in the test set, respectively. CONCLUSION The fusion model based on DCE-MRI in the arterial phase can significantly improve the diagnostic rate of cHCC-CC and HCC as compared with conventional approaches.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the family aggregation of human hookworm infections in Sichuan Province and to identify its influencing factors, so as to provide insights into management of hookworm infections. METHODS Three to four counties (districts) were sampled from basins, hilly regions and mountainous regions around the basins in Sichuan Province from 2017 to 2022 as fixed survey sites, and 17 to 30 counties (districts) were selected as mobile survey sites. At least 1 000 permanent residents at ages of 3 years and older were sampled from each survey site, and hookworm eggs were detected in human stool samples using the Kato-Katz technique. Subjects with 2 and more family members and at least 2 individuals diagnosed with hookworm infections in the county (district) where they lived were selected, and the familial aggregation of hookworm infections was analyzed using the test of goodness of fit for binomial distribution. In addition, the knowledge and practice of hookworm disease control were investigated among residents in Hejiang County and Wutongqiao District, Leshan City, Sichuan Province in 2021 and 2022, and the difference in the knowledge and practice of hookworm disease control was compared between members with and without familial aggregation of hookworm infections. RESULTS A total of 66 812 residents from 25 196 households were sampled from main endemic areas of hookworm diseases in Sichuan Province from 2017 to 2022 for detection of hookworm infections, and 4 403 infections were identified (6.59% prevalence). The distribution of human hookworm infections in Sichuan Province did not fit the binomial distribution, and showed family aggregations (χ2 = 2 116.759, P < 0.001). Family aggregation of human hookworm infections was found in endemic areas with 1% and higher prevalence of human hookworm infections (χ2 = 136.006 to 428.738, all P values < 0.001), and family aggregation of human hookworm infections was identified in different years (χ2 = 87.615 to 471.838, all P values < 0.001) and in different terrains of endemic areas (χ2 = 8.423 to 1 144.176, all P values < 0.001). The members with hookworm infections had median eggs per gram of 180 (interquartile range, 780) in aggregated families and 72 (102) in non-aggregated families (Z = -2.686, P < 0.05). The proportion of members in families with aggregation of hookworm infections who knew the preventive measures of hookworm disease was significantly lower than in non-aggregated families (24.49% vs. 51.72%; χ2 = 10.262, P < 0.05), and the proportion of members in families with aggregation of hookworm infections who often worked barefoot on the ground was significantly higher than in non-aggregated families (30.61% vs. 13.25%; χ2 = 6.289, P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS There is a familial aggregation of human hookworm infections in Sichuan Province, and awareness of preventive measures for hookworm disease and frequent working barefoot on the ground are associated with familial aggregation of hookworm infections.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To construct a prediction model for fetal growth restriction (FGR) during the first trimester of pregnancy and evaluate its screening performance. METHODS This was a prospective cohort study of singleton pregnancies that underwent routine ultrasound screening at 11 to 13 + 6 weeks at the Affiliated Suzhou Hospital of Nanjing Medical University between January 2019 and April 2022. Basic clinical information, ultrasound indicators and serum biomarkers of pregnant women were collected. Fetal weight assessment was based on the fetal growth curve for the Southern Chinese population. FGR was diagnosed according to Delphi consensus criteria. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (lasso) regression was used to select variables for inclusion in the model. Discrimination, calibration and clinical effectiveness of the model were evaluated in training and validation cohorts. RESULTS A total of 1188 pregnant women were included, of whom 108 had FGR. Lasso regression identified seven predictive features, including history of maternal hypertension, maternal smoking or passive smoking, gravidity, uterine artery pulsatility index, ductus venosus pulsatility index and multiples of the median values of placental growth factor and soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1. The nomogram prediction model constructed from these seven variables accurately predicted FGR, and the area under the receiver-operating-characteristics curve in the validation cohort was 0.82 (95% CI, 0.74-0.90). The calibration curve and Hosmer-Lemeshow test demonstrated good calibration, and the clinical decision curve and clinical impact curve supported its practical value in a clinical setting. CONCLUSION The multi-index prediction model for FGR has good predictive value during the first trimester. © 2023 The Authors. Abstract
Objective: To assess the effectiveness of a 6-month Ba Duan Jin exercise program in improving the balance of community-dwelling older adults. Methods: A two arms, parallel-group, cluster randomized controlled trial was conducted in 1 028 community residents aged 60-80 years in 40 communities in 5 provinces of China. Participants in the intervention group (20 communities, 523 people) received Ba Duan Jin exercise 5 days/week, 1 hour/day for 6 months, and three times of falls prevention health education, and the control group (20 communities, 505 people) received falls prevention health education same as the intervention group. The Berg balance scale (BBS) score was the leading outcome indicator, and the secondary outcome indicators included the length of time of standing on one foot (with eyes open and closed), standing in a tandem stance (with eyes open and closed), the closed circle test, and the timed up to test. Results: A total of 1 028 participants were included in the final analysis, including 731 women (71.11%) and 297 men (28.89%), and the age was (69.87±5.67) years. After the 3-month intervention, compared with the baseline data, the BBS score of the intervention group was significantly higher than the control group by 3.05 (95%CI: 2.23-3.88) points (P<0.001). After the 6-month intervention, compared with the baseline data, the BBS score of the intervention group was significantly higher than the control group by 4.70 (95%CI: 4.03-5.37) points (P<0.001). Ba Duan Jin showed significant improvement (P<0.05) in all secondary outcomes after 6 months of exercise in the intervention group compared with the control group. Conclusions: This study showed that Ba Duan Jin exercise can improve balance in community-dwelling older adults aged 60-80. The longer the exercise time, the better the improvement.

Abstract
PURPOSE Investigating the role of lncRNAs associated with the latest cell death mode (Disulfideptosis) in renal clear cell carcinoma, as well as their correlation with tumor prognosis, immune escape, immune checkpoints, tumor mutational burden, and malignant tumor progression. Searching for potential biomarkers and targets for renal clear cell carcinoma. METHODS Downloaded the expression profile data and clinical data of 533 cases of renal clear cell carcinoma from the TCGA database, and randomly divided them into a test set (267 cases) and a validation set (266 cases). Based on previous research, 13 genes associated with Disulfideptosis were obtained. Using R software, lncRNAs with a differential expression that is related to the prognosis of renal clear cell carcinoma and associated with Disulfideptosis were screened out. After univariate Cox regression analysis, Lasso regression analysis, and multivariate Cox regression analysis, lncRNAs with independent predictive ability were obtained. A predictive risk model was established based on the risk scores. Verification was carried out between the obtained high-risk and low-risk groups and their subgroups (including Age, Gender, tumor mutational burden (TMB), tumor grading, and staging). Subsequently, a nomogram was established, and a calibration curve was generated for verification. Performed GO (Gene Ontology) and KEGG (Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes) functional enrichment analyses. Downloaded the values of Tumor Immune Dysfunction and Exclusion (TIDE) for all samples and calculated the difference between the high and low-risk groups. Selected human renal tumor cell lines (786-O, OS-RC-2, A-498, ACHN) and human renal cortex proximal tubule epithelial cell line (HK-2). The RNA expression levels of the above lncRNAs in each cell line were analyzed using RT-qPCR (Real-time Quantitative PCR Detecting System). Used siRNA (small interfering RNA) to knock down FAM225B in 786-O and OS-RC-2 cell lines, and then performed in vitro cell experiments to validate the functional characteristics of FAM225B. RESULTS Our constructed predictive model includes 5 lncRNAs with an independent predictive ability (FAM225B, ZNF503-AS1, SPINT1-AS1, WWC2-AS2, LINC01338), which can effectively distinguish between patients in high and low-risk groups and their subgroups. The 1, 3, and 5-year AUC (Area Under the ROC Curve) values of the established nomogram are 0.756, 0.752, and 0.781, respectively. The 5-year AUC value is higher compared to other clinical characteristics (Age: 0.598, Gender: 0.488, Grade: 0.680, Stage: 0.717). After the knockdown of FAM225B, the proliferation, migration, and invasion abilities of renal cancer cell lines OS-RC-2 and 786-O all decreased. CONCLUSION We have constructed and validated a prognostic model based on Disulfideptosis-associated lncRNAs. This model can effectively predict the high or low risk of patient prognosis and can distinguish the tumor cell mutational burden and immune escape capabilities among high-risk and low-risk patients. This predictive model can serve as an independent prognostic factor for renal clear cell carcinoma, providing a new direction for personalized treatment of patients with renal clear cell carcinoma.

Abstract
Gasdermin (GSDM) family members are involved in numerous biological processes, including pyroptosis, as well as in the initiation and progression of various types of cancer. However, the specific role of GSDM genes in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) has yet to be fully clarified. The present study investigated the differential expression and genetic alterations GSDM genes, their effects on prognosis and immune modulation, and their functional enrichment in ccRCC. Several bioinformatics databases were used, including UALCAN, The Cancer Genome Atlas, Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis, Metascape, Tumor Immune Estimation Resource, GSCALite and cBioPortal. The results revealed that the expression levels of GSDMA, GSDMB, GSDMC and GSDMD were significantly upregulated in cancer tissues compared with those in paracancerous tissues in patients with ccRCC, whereas the expression of DFNB59 exhibited the opposite trend. The results were experimentally validated in patients with ccRCC, and it was confirmed that the expression levels of GSDMA, GSDMB, GSDMC, GSDMD and GSDME (DFNA5) were significantly enhanced, whereas (PJVK, DFNB59) expression was reduced. In addition, elevated GSDMB, GSDMD and DFNA5 expression levels were clearly associated with worse pathological characteristics of ccRCC, including a high pathological stage and high tumor grade. Furthermore, the high expression levels of GSDMB, GSDMC, GSDMD, DFNA5 and PJVK were shown to be associated with worse overall survival (OS) and progression-free interval in patients with ccRCC. Both univariate and multivariate analyses indicated that the expression of GSDMB was independently associated with the OS of patients with ccRCC. Additionally, a high mutation rate of GSDM genes (33%) was observed in patients with ccRCC, and GSDM gene mutations were also significantly associated with a poor OS in patients with ccRCC. Significant associations between GSDM genes and ccRCC immunoprofiling and drug sensitivity were also determined. In conclusion, the findings of the present study indicated that GSDMB, GSDMD and DFNA5 may be considered promising therapeutic agents and potential biomarkers for patients with ccRCC. Furthermore, GSDMB could act as an independent predictor for the OS of patients with ccRCC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Previous observational studies have shown an association between certain cancers and the subsequent risk of prostate cancer (PCa). However, the causal relationship between these cancers and PCa is still unclear. This study aimed to investigate the causal relationship between 12 common cancers and the risk of PCa. METHODS We employed genome-wide association studies (GWAS) to perform forward and reverse Mendelian randomization (MR) within two-sample frameworks. Furthermore, we conducted multivariable MR analyses to investigate the relationships between different types of cancer. In addition, multiple sensitivity analysis methods were employed to assess the robustness of our findings. RESULTS Our univariable MR analysis showed that genetically predicted hematological cancer was associated with a reduced risk of PCa (OR: 0.911, 95% CI 0.89-0.922, P = 0.03). Furthermore, MR analysis demonstrates that genetically predicted occurrence of thyroid gland and endocrine gland cancer also raised the risk of PCa (all P < 0.05). Multivariable analysis showed that thyroid gland cancer exhibited a higher incidence of PCa (OR: 1.12, 95% CI: 1.08-1.16, P = 0.008). In the reverse MR analysis, we found no significant inverse causal associations between PCa and 12 types of cancers. CONCLUSION In summary, this study provided insights into the causal relationships between various types of cancer and PCa. Hematological cancer was suggested to associate with a lower risk of PCa, while thyroid gland cancer and endocrine gland cancer might increase the risk. These findings contribute to the understanding of genetic factors related to PCa and its potential associations with other cancers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Suicide was an important cause of death in prostate cancer. This study intended to investigate trends in suicide mortality among prostate cancer (PCa) survivors from 1975 to 2019 in the United States. METHOD We identified PCa survivors from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) program from January 1975 to December 2019. Standardized mortality rate (SMR) was calculated d to assess the relative risk of suicide in PCa survivors compared with the general men population. Poisson regression model was performed to test for trend of SMRs. The cumulative mortality rate of suicide was calculated to assess the clinical burden of suicide mortality. RESULTS 7108 (0.2%) cases were death from suicide cause, and 2,308,923(65.04%%) cases recorded as dying from non-suicidal causes. Overall, a slightly higher suicide mortality rate among PCa survivors was observed compared with general male population (SMR: 1.15, 95%CI: 1.09-1.2). The suicide mortality rate declined significantly relative to the general population by the calendar year of diagnosis, from an SMR of 1.74(95%CI: 1.17-2.51) in 1975-1979 to 0.99(0.89-1.1) in 2015-2019 (Ptrend < 0.001). PCa survivors with aged over 84 years, black and other races, registered in registrations (including Utah, New Mexico, and Hawaii) failed to observe a decrease in suicide mortality (Ptrend > 0.05). The cumulative suicide mortality during 1975-1994 was distinctly higher than in 1995-2019(P < 0.001). CONCLUSION The trend in suicide mortality declined significantly from 1975 to 2019 among PCa survivors compared with the general male population in the United States. Notably, part of PCa survivors had no improvement in suicide mortality, and additional studies in the future were needed to explore it.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to investigate the relationship between serum testosterone levels and the risk of congestive heart failure (CHF) in adult males. Previous research has suggested a potential link between serum testosterone and cardiovascular health, but the findings have been inconclusive. METHODS This study was cross-sectional, and the data were obtained from the 2011-2016 cycle of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), which included a sample of 6,841 male participants. Serum testosterone levels were measured using a standardized assay, and CHF status was assessed through self-reporting. Covariates such as age, ethnicity, lifestyle factors, and health conditions were considered in the analysis. RESULTS Among the participants, 242 individuals had a documented history of CHF. We observed a linear correlation between serum testosterone levels and CHF occurrence, with higher serum testosterone levels associated with a decreased risk of CHF (Q4 vs. Q1, OR = 0.29, 95% CI: 0.19-0.47, P < 0.001). After adjusting for confounding variables, multivariate analysis revealed that high serum testosterone levels remained significantly associated with a lower risk of CHF (OR: 0.47, 95% CI: 0.27-0.80, P = 0.01). Subgroup analysis indicated a significant association between high serum testosterone levels and reduced CHF risk in individuals over 50 years old. CONCLUSION Our findings suggest that the serum testosterone level was positively associated with CHF in adult males. This study highlights the potential role of serum testosterone in cardiovascular health, particularly in older individuals. Further research is needed to elucidate the underlying mechanisms and explore the clinical implications of these findings.

Abstract
A major subtype of renal cancer is clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Krüppel-like factor 3 (KLF3) dysfunction is also revealed leading to poor prognosis in multiple cancer types. However, dysregulation and molecular dynamics of KLF3 underlying ccRCC progression still remains elusive. Here KLF3 gene and protein expressions in ccRCC were explored using data cohorts from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), Human Protein Atlas (HPA), Clinical Proteomic Tumor Analysis Consortium (CPTAC) and verified them in our patient cohort. Correlations of KLF3 expression with clinicopathological features, epigenetic modification, and immune microenvironment characteristics were further investigated. KLF3 was significantly down-regulated expressed in ccRCC tissues compared to adjacent normal controls. Adverse pathological parameters and poor prognosis were associated with lower expression of KLF3. Mechanically, KLF3 regulation was mainly attributed to CpG island methylation. KLF3-high expression subgroup was significantly enriched in cell signaling pathways most associated with EMT markers, angiogenesis, inflammatory response, apoptosis, TGF-β, degradation of ECM, G2M checkpoint, and PI3K-AKT-mTOR. Based on GDSC database, KLF3 upregulation was identified to be associated with higher sensitivities towards PI3K-Akt-mTOR pathway inhibitors such as PI-103, PIK-93, and OSI-027. In addition, patients with down-regulated KLF3 expressions were found more sensitive towards Trametinib, Cetuximab, and Erlotinib. Collectively, our findings suggest that KLF3 may act as a suitable biomarker for prognosis prediction, tumor microenvironment (TME) phenotype identification, thereby helping ccRCC patients to make better therapeutic decisions.

Abstract
It is of great importance to uncover causal biomarkers to gain insight into the pathogenesis of oral diseases and identify novel treatment targets for prevention and treatment thereof. This study aimed to systematically evaluate the causal effects of hundreds of metabolites on 10 dental traits using a 2-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) approach. Genetic variants from genome-wide association studies of 309 known metabolites were used as instrumental variables. We selected 10 dental traits, including clinical measures of dental diseases, from the Gene-Lifestyle Interactions in Dental Endpoints Consortium and self-reported oral health data from the UK Biobank. The causal relationships between metabolites and dental traits were inferred using the inverse variance-weighted approach and further controlled for horizontal pleiotropy using 5 additional MR methods. After correcting for multiple tests, 5 metabolites were identified as causal biomarkers. Genetically predicted increased levels of mannose were associated with lower risk of bleeding gums (odds ratio [OR] = 0.72; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.61-0.85; P = 9.9 × 10-5). MR also indicated 4 metabolites on the causal pathway to dentures, with fructose (OR = 0.50; 95% CI, 0.36-0.70; P = 5.2 × 10-5) and 1-palmitoleoyl-glycerophosphocholine (OR = 0.67; 95% CI, 0.56-0.81; P = 4.8 × 10-5) as potential protective factors and glycine (OR = 1.22; 95% CI, 1.11-1.35; P = 5.6×10-5) and 1,5-anhydroglucitol (OR = 1.32; 95% CI, 1.14-1.52; P = 1.5 × 10-4) as risk factors. The causal associations were robust in various sensitivity analyses. We further observed some shared metabolites among different dental traits, implying similar biological mechanisms underlying the pathogenic processes. Finally, the pathway analysis revealed several significant metabolic pathways that may be involved in the development of dental disorders. Our study provides novel insights into the combination of metabolomics and genomics to reveal the pathogenesis of and therapeutic strategies for dental disorders. It highlighted 5 metabolites and several pathways as causal candidates, warranting further investigation.

Abstract
PURPOSE Our aim was to perform a propensity score-matched study to compare the long-term functional outcomes and quality of life following intersphincteric resection vs. low anterior resection (LAR) with very low anastomosis. METHODS Patients who underwent intersphincteric resection or low anterior resection with low anastomosis (≤ 4 cm from the anal verge) for rectal cancer between January 2017 and June 2020 were retrospectively included. A propensity score-matching process was performed. Functional outcomes and quality of life were assessed using the European Quality of Life 5 Dimensions 3 Level Version (EQ-5D-3L), EORC-QLQ C30, EORC-QLQ CR29, Low Anterior Resection Syndrome (LARS), Wexner, and International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) questionnaires. The primary outcome was the presence of LARS at least 12 months after surgery. The second outcome was the postoperative quality of life of included patients. RESULTS After propensity matching, 128 patients were included, including 58 males and 70 females with a median age of 59.5. Patients in the intersphincteric resection group showed a higher incidence of incontinence to flatus (32.8% versus 14.0%, p = 0.043) and stools (42.2% versus 21.9%, p = 0.046), pain/discomfort (25.0% versus 7.8%, p = 0.001), and bowel dysfunction, while the LARS scores (15.0 versus 13.2, p = 0.461) and major LARS rates (26.6% versus 14.1%, p = 0.078) were comparable in both groups. CONCLUSION ISR leads to increased bowel incontinence rate and increased anal pain, without affecting the grade of low anterior resection syndrome, fecal urgency, and clustering. LAR might be the preferred sphincteric-preserving approach when negative resection margins and a safe anastomosis are guaranteed. Patients should be fully informed about potential functional impairment after sphincter-preservation procedures.

Abstract
Objective To identify risk factors of secondary pelvic malignant neoplasms (SPMNs) among prostate cancer (PCa) patients treated with radiotherapy. Simultaneously, population-based data were used to validate the high risk of SPMNs in PCa patients with radiotherapy. Materials and methods We identified male patients diagnosed with PCa (localized and regional) as the first primary cancer and pelvic malignant neoplasm (including bladder and rectal cancer) as secondary cancer from Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database (1975-2020). An external validation cohort was obtained from the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University. The Fine-Gray competing risk regression and Poisson regression were utilized to evaluate the risk of SPMNs development. Poisson regression was also performed to calculate the standardized incidence ratio (SIR). The Kaplan-Meier method was used to assess the overall survival (OS) of patients with SPMNs. Results 89397 PCa patients treated with radiotherapy were enrolled. We identified associated factors of SPMNs, including age at diagnosis, race, year of diagnosis, marital status, radiation strategy and latency. In the multivariable competing risk regression model and Poisson regression model, a significantly higher risk of SPMNs development was observed in patients over 50 years(P<0.05), white patients(P<0.001), unmarried patients and treated with brachytherapy combined with external beam radiotherapy or brachytherapy(P<0.05). Patients treated with radiotherapy had a higher bladder and rectal cancer incidence than the general population. Patients who developed SPMNs showed poorer OS. Conclusion We identified several risk factors associated with SPMNs and confirmed a relatively higher incidence of bladder and rectal cancer among PCa patients with radiotherapy. These results help tailor treatment and surveillance strategies.

Abstract
PURPOSE To investigate prognostic values of prostatic urethra involvement (PUI) and construct a prognostic model that estimates the probability of cancer-specific survival for T1 bladder cancer patients. METHOD AND MATERIALS We investigated the national Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database (2004-2015) to get patients diagnosed with T1 bladder cancer. An external validation cohort was obtained from the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University. The Kaplan-Meier method with the log-rank test was applied to assess cancer-specific survival (CSS) and overall survival (OS). Moreover, the propensity score matching (PSM) and multivariable Cox proportional hazard model were performed. All patients were randomly divided into the development cohort and validation group at the ratio of 7:3. The performance of the model was internally validated by calibration curves and the concordance index (C-index). RESULTS The PUI group had a lower survival rate of both CSS and overall survival OS before and after PSM when compared to non-involved patients (All P < 0.05). Multivariate analysis revealed a poor prognosis in the PUI group for cancer-specific mortality (CSM) and all-cause mortality (ACM) analyses before and after PSM (All P < 0.05). Seven variables, including age, surgery, radiotherapy, tumour size, PUI, and marital status, were incorporated in the final nomogram. The C-index in the development cohort was 0.715 (0.711-0.719), while it was 0.672 (0.667-0.677) in the validation group. Calibration plots for 3- and 5-year cancer-specific survival showed good concordance in the development and validation cohorts. CONCLUSIONS PUI was an independent risk factor of ACM and CSM in T1 bladder cancer patients. In addition, a highly discriminative and precise nomogram that predicted the individualized probability of cancer-specific survival for patients with T1 bladder cancer was constructed.

Abstract
Objective: To systematically collect and evaluate the health economics research of Human papilloma virus(HPV) vaccination population expansion to men, and to provide evidence for optimizing HPV vaccine immunization strategies. Methods: Health economics research studies on male HPV vaccination published in databases including PubMed, Web of Science, CNKI, and Wanfang Database from January 2010 to September 2022 were collected according to the systematic evaluation research design. The quality of the studies was assessed using the health economics evaluation reporting standards (2022 edition) (CHEERS 2022), with full score of 28. The results of the studies were reviewed and analyzed systematically. Results: A total of 21 studies complies with the criteria were included, all of which was foreign research. The average CHEERS score of the literatures was 25.71 points, range from 23 to 28 points. 85.71% (12/14) studies of the gender-neutral population showed that including male in HPV vaccination were more consistent with the cost effectiveness than female vaccination alone under certain conditions (target at adolescents of 10 to 15 years old or adults under 26 years old). 80.00% (4/5) of the studies target at ordinary men only were proved that male vaccination with HPV vaccine was in line with the cost-effectiveness. 2 studies targeting men who have sex with men (MSM) were both concluded that it met the cost-effectiveness. In addition, the results of 2 gender-neutral population studies and 1 study on men alone showed that extending HPV vaccination to men did not conform to cost effectiveness. The main reasons for the non-cost-effectiveness included the high price of vaccines and the age of vaccination. Conclusion: The quality of the health economics evaluation studies on expanding HPV vaccination to the male population is high. Vaccination targeting adolescents and young men as well as special groups (such as MSM) are likely to be cost-effective, and vaccinations for other groups are still need further evaluated. It is recommended that relevant research should be conducted to provide evidence for expanding the scope of HPV vaccination to men in China.

Abstract
The dynamics of a bubble in a pressure gradient is investigated experimentally and numerically with particular emphasis on the behavior at reentrant jet impact and break through the opposite side of the bubble with corresponding energy loss and vorticity generation. High speed photography observations of a bubble generated by electric spark energy deposit in a low ambient pressure tank are coupled with wavelet based Optical Flow Velocimetry (wOFV) and Boundary Element Method (BEM) numerical analysis to examine the flow field resulting from the reentrant jet formation and break through. We study, as an illustration, the effects of the constant pressure gradient due to gravity on the bubble dynamics. Energy losses between the first and second cycle are measured for the bubbles generated under various conditions characterized by a non-dimensional pressure gradient parameter, and the corresponding measured energy loss is used in the numerical simulations. Good correspondence is seen between the image analysis, the wOFV computations, and the BEM results and insight is gained on the involved physics.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) MRI-based synthetic CT (SCT) images created using generative adversarial network (GAN) have been demonstrated to be feasible for intensity-modulated proton therapy (IMPT) planning. However, dose calculation accuracy can be uncertain in some regions within/near the target of head and neck patients due to the local CT number estimation error or sharp dose fall-off. This study investigated the feasibility of using the SPArc technique to mitigate such dosimetric uncertainty. MATERIALS/METHODS A GAN using a 3D U-net as the generator and a 6-layer 3D convolutional neural network as the discriminator was trained with T1-weighted MR-CT image pairs from 162 nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients (14 for validation). The generator was used to generate SCT images from MR images for 7 test patients. For each test patient, the CT image was used to create a SPArc plan and an IMPT plan with the same clinical objectives. The SPArc plans (control point frequency sampling, arc trajectory, etc.) were optimized using a previously developed iterative approach. The dose distributions of both SPArc plans and IMPT plans were re-calculated on the SCT images and compared to the one calculated on the CT images. The dosimetric uncertainty was quantified using the gamma index. RESULTS The 2%/2mm and 3%/3mm passing rates for SPArc plans were (96.9¡À2.7) % and (98.6¡À1.5) %, while the passing rates for IMPT plans were (94.0¡À3.9) % and (96.4+2.9) %. A significant reduction in dosimetric uncertainty was identified for SPArc plans (p ¡Ü0.021). Table 1 shows the passing rates for the 7 test individuals. CONCLUSION SPArc can mitigate the uncertainty of dose calculation in MRI-based proton planning. Further research needs to validate these findings on a larger patient cohort. The study paves the road map for using MRI for SPArc planning.

Abstract
PURPOSE By recruiting reference population, we aimed to (1): estimate the 25(OH)D threshold that maximally inhibits the PTH, which can be defined as the cutoff value for vitamin D sufficiency; (2) establish the PTH reference interval (RI) in population with sufficient vitamin D. METHODS Study data were retrieved from LIS (Laboratory Information Management System) under literature suggested criteria, and outliers were excluded using Tukey fence method. Locally weighted regression (LOESS) and segmented regression (SR) were conducted to estimate the threshold of 25(OH)D. Multivariate linear regression was performed to evaluate the associations between PTH concentration and variables including 25(OH)D, gender, age, estimated glomerular filtration rate (EGFR), body mass index (BMI), albumin-adjusted serum calcium (aCa), serum phosphate(P), serum magnesium(Mg), and blood collection season. Z test was adopted to evaluate whether the reference interval should be stratified by determinants such as age and gender. RESULTS A total of 64,979 apparently healthy subjects were recruited in this study, with median (Q1, Q3) 25(OH)D of 45.33 (36.15, 57.50) nmol/L and median (Q1, Q3) PTH of 42.19 (34.24, 52.20) ng/L. The segmented regression determined the 25(OH)D threshold of 55 nmol/L above which PTH would somewhat plateau and of 22 nmol/L below which PTH would rise steeply. Multivariate linear regression suggested that gender, EGFR, and BMI were independently associated with PTH concentrations. The PTH RI was calculated as 22.17-72.72 ng/L for subjects with 25(OH)D ≥ 55 nmol/L with no necessity of stratification according to gender, age, menopausal status nor season. CONCLUSION This study reported 25(OH)D thresholds of vitamin D sufficiency at 55 nmol/L and vitamin D deficiency at 22 nmol/L, and consequently established PTH RIs in subjects with sufficient vitamin D for northern China population for the first time.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The present study aimed to investigate the effect of dietary lutein on egg production, follicles, reproductive hormones, fertility, hatchability, and oxidative injury indexes of hens. METHODS Treatments consisted of a control diet (CON) and three lutein-supplementing diets at 25 (L1), 50 (L2), or 75 (L3) mg/kg of diet. Egg production was measured using 576 Arbor Acres breeder hens at 61 to 65 wk and follicles grades, reproductive hormones, fertility, hatchability, tissue lutein contents, and oxidative injury indexes were determined at 65 wk. RESULTS The results showed that at 65 wk, lutein- supplementing diets increased (p<0.05) egg production, follicular grades, fertility, hatchability, estradiol (E2), luteinizing hormone, progesterone (PROG), lutein content in the serum and yolk, compared to CON. L2 and L3 showed more pronounced (p<0.05) effects on egg production, PROG, and yolk lutein content than L1. With the increase of lutein doses from 25 to 75 mg/kg, there were linear increases (p<0.05) in egg production, lutein content, and PROG, and a quadratic trend (p<0.05) in E2. For the oxidative injury products, lutein-supplementing diets decreased (p<0.05) malondialdehyde (MDA) and protein carbonyl (PCO) in the serum, MDA and 8-hydroxy 2 deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) in the yolk. There were linear decreases (p<0.05) in 8-OHdG in the serum, MDA, PCO, and 8-OHdG in the yolk, a quadratic trend (p<0.05) on serum 8-OHdG. CONCLUSION It is concluded that lutein supplementation can improve egg production and fertility by beneficially regulating reproductive hormones and oxidative status in aged hens.

Abstract
Ongoing global pandemic of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has promoted the unprecedented rapid development and large-scale rolling out of different platform-based COVID-19 vaccines worldwide. How to effectively respond to the expected scale increasing adverse events after vaccination campaign of COVID-19 vaccines is a common problem faced by the world. A lot of countries and regions around the world have arranged in advance at different levels, optimizing the original vaccine safety monitoring system from the perspectives of strengthening the foundation and capabilities, promoting internal and external cooperation, upgrading methods, as well as improving transparency and public communication, which has ensured the good and efficient operation of the system and can provide reference for the construction of relevant fields in China.

Abstract
Purpose Machine learning prediction models based on LogisticRegression, XGBoost, GaussianNB, and LGBMClassifier for patients in the prostate-specific antigen gray zone are to be developed and compared, identifying valuable predictors. Predictive models are to be integrated into actual clinical decisions. Methods Patient information was collected from December 01, 2014 to December 01, 2022 from the Department of Urology, The First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University. Patients with a pathological diagnosis of prostate hyperplasia or prostate cancer (any PCa) and having a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level of 4-10 ng/mL before prostate puncture were included in the initial information collection. Eventually, 756 patients were selected. Age, total prostate-specific antigen (tPSA), free prostate-specific antigen (fPSA), fPSA/tPSA, prostate volume (PV), prostate-specific antigen density (PSAD), (fPSA/tPSA)/PSAD, and the prostate MRI results of these patients were recorded. After univariate and multivariate logistic analyses, statistically significant predictors were screened to build and compare machine learning models based on LogisticRegression, XGBoost, GaussianNB, and LGBMClassifier to determine more valuable predictors. Results Machine learning prediction models based on LogisticRegression, XGBoost, GaussianNB, and LGBMClassifier exhibit higher predictive power than individual metrics. The area under the curve (AUC) (95% CI), accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and F1 score of the LogisticRegression machine learning prediction model were 0.932 (0.881-0.983), 0.792, 0.824, 0.919, 0.652, 0.920, and 0.728, respectively; of the XGBoost machine learning prediction model were 0.813 (0.723-0.904), 0.771, 0.800, 0.768, 0.737, 0.793 and 0.767, respectively; of the GaussianNB machine learning prediction model were 0.902 (0.843-0.962), 0.813, 0.875, 0.819, 0.600, 0.909, and 0.712, respectively; and of the LGBMClassifier machine learning prediction model were 0.886 (0.809-0.963), 0.833, 0.882, 0.806, 0.725, 0.911, and 0.796, respectively. The LogisticRegression machine learning prediction model has the highest AUC among all prediction models, and the difference between the AUC of the LogisticRegression prediction model and those of XGBoost, GaussianNB, and LGBMClassifier is statistically significant (p < 0.001). Conclusion Machine learning prediction models based on LogisticRegression, XGBoost, GaussianNB, and LGBMClassifier algorithms exhibit superior predictability for patients in the PSA gray area, with the LogisticRegression model yielding the best prediction. The aforementioned predictive models can be used for actual clinical decision-making..

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To construct a modABC gene knockout strain of Proteus mirabilis and explore the effect of modABC gene deletion on biological characteristics of Proteus mirabilis. METHODS Fusion PCR was used to obtain the fusion gene of modABC and the kanamycin-resistant gene Kn, which was ligated with the suicide vector pCVD442 and transduced into Proteus mirabilis. The modABC gene knockout strain of Proteus mirabilis was obtained after homologous recombination with the suicide vector. PCR and Sanger sequencing were used to identify genomic deletion of modABC gene in the genetically modified strain. The concentration of molybdate in the wild-type and gene knockout strains was determined using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), and their survival ability in LB medium was compared under both aerobic and anaerobic conditions. RESULTS PCR and sanger sequencing confirmed genomic deletion of modABC gene in the obtained Proteus mirabilis strain. The concentration of intracellular molybdenum in the modABC gene knockout strain was 1.22 mg/kg, significantly lower than that in the wild-type strain (1.46 mg/kg, P < 0.001). Under the aerobic condition, the modABC gene knockout strain grown in LB medium showed no significant changes in survival ability compared with the wild-type strain, but its proliferation rate decreased significantly under the anaerobic condition and also when cultured in nitrate-containing LB medium under anaerobic condition. CONCLUSION Homologous recombination with the suicide vector can be used for modABC gene knockout in Proteus mirabilis. modABC gene participates in molybdate uptake and is associated with anaerobic growth of Proteus mirabilis in the presence of nitrate.
