Abstract
Uninhibited control of the complex spatiotemporal quantum wave function of a single photon has so far remained elusive even though it can dramatically increase the encoding flexibility and thus the information capacity of a photonic quantum link. By fusing temporal waveform generation in an atomic ensemble and spatial single-photon shaping, we hereby demonstrate for the first time complete spatiotemporal control of a propagation invariant (2+1)D Airy single-photon optical bullet. These correlated photons are not only self-accelerating and impervious to spreading as their classical counterparts, but can be concealed and revealed in the presence of strong classical stray light.

Abstract
Atopic dermatitis (AD), a chronic inflammatory skin disease, manifests as an intractable itch. Psychological stress has been suggested to play a role in the onset and worsening of AD symptoms. However, the pathophysiological relationships between psychological stressors and cutaneous manifestations remain unclear. To elucidate the mechanisms underlying the stress-related exacerbation of itch, we investigated the effects of water stress, restraint stress and repeated social defeat stress on itch-related scratching behaviour, mechanical alloknesis and dermatitis in male NC/Nga mice with AD-like symptoms induced by the repeated application of ointment containing Dermatophagoides farina body. NC/Nga mice with AD-like symptoms were subjected to water stress, restraint stress and repeated social defeat stress, and their scratching behaviour, sensitivity to mechanical stimuli (mechanical alloknesis) and severity of dermatitis were evaluated. Social defeat stress+ Dermatophagoides farina body-treated mice exposed to stress showed slower improvements in or the exacerbation of AD-like symptoms, including dermatitis and itch. In the mechanical alloknesis assay, the mechanical alloknesis scores of social defeat stress+ Dermatophagoides farina body-treated mice exposed to stress were significantly higher than those of non-exposed social defeat stress+ Dermatophagoides farina body- and social defeat stress-treated mice. These results suggest that psychological stress delays improvements in dermatitis by exacerbating itch hypersensitivity in AD.

Abstract
The study of neuron interactions and hardware implementations are crucial research directions in neuroscience, particularly in developing large-scale biological neural networks. The FitzHugh-Nagumo (FHN) model is a popular neuron model with highly biological plausibility, but its complexity makes it difficult to apply at scale. This paper presents a cost-saving and improved precision approximation algorithm for the digital implementation of the FHN model. By converting the computational data into floating-point numbers, the original multiplication calculations are replaced by adding the floating-point exponent part and fitting the mantissa part with piecewise linear. In the hardware implementation, shifters and adders are used, greatly reducing resource overhead. Implementing FHN neurons by this approximation calculations on FPGA reduces the normalized root mean square error (RMSE) to 3.5% of the state-of-the-art (SOTA) while maintaining a performance overhead ratio improvement of 1.09 times. Compared to implementations based on approximate multipliers, the proposed method achieves a 20% reduction in error at the cost of a 2.8% increase in overhead.This model gained additional biological properties compared to LIF while reducing the deployment scale by only 9%. Furthermore, the hardware implementation of nine coupled circular networks with eight nodes and directional diffusion was carried out to demonstrate the algorithm's effectiveness on neural networks. The error decreased to 60% compared to the single neuron of the SOTA. This hardware-friendly algorithm allows for the low-cost implementation of high-precision hardware simulation, providing a novel perspective for studying large-scale, biologically plausible neural networks.

Abstract
Bronchiolar adenoma/ciliated muconodular papillary tumour (BA/CMPT) is a benign peripheral lung tumour composed of bilayered bronchiolar-type epithelium containing a continuous basal cell layer; however, the similarities in imaging and tissue biopsy findings at histopathology between BA/CMPT and malignant tumours, including lung adenocarcinoma, pose significant challenges in accurately diagnosing BA/CMPT preoperatively. This difficulty in differentiation often results in misdiagnosis and unnecessary overtreatment. The objective of this article is to provide a comprehensive and systematic review of BA/CMPT, encompassing its clinical manifestations, pathological basis, imaging features, and differential diagnosis. By enhancing healthcare professionals' understanding of this disease, we aim to improve the accuracy of preoperative BA/CMPT diagnosis. This improvement is crucial for the development of appropriate therapeutic strategies and the overall improvement of patient prognosis.

Abstract
PURPOSE There is little information on factors that influence the glycemic variability (GV) during the nocturnal and diurnal periods. We aimed to examine the relationship between clinical factors and GV during these two periods. METHODS This cross-sectional study included 134 patients with type 2 diabetes. 24-h changes in blood glucose were recorded by a continuous glucose monitoring system. Nocturnal and diurnal GV were assessed by standard deviation of blood glucose (SDBG), coefficient of variation (CV), and mean amplitude of glycemic excursions (MAGE), respectively. Robust regression analyses were performed to identify the factors associated with GV. Restricted cubic splines were used to determine dose-response relationship. RESULTS During the nocturnal period, age and glycemic level at 12:00 A.M. were positively associated with GV, whereas alanine aminotransferase was negatively associated with GV. During the diurnal period, homeostatic model assessment 2-insulin sensitivity (HOMA2-S) was positively associated with GV, whereas insulin secretion-sensitivity index-2 (ISSI2) was negatively associated with GV. Additionally, we found a J-shape association between the glycemic level at 12:00 A.M. and MAGE, with 9.0 mmol/L blood glucose level as a cutoff point. Similar nonlinear associations were found between ISSI2 and SDBG, and between ISSI2 and MAGE, with ISSI2 value of 175 as a cutoff point. CONCLUSION Factors associated with GV were different between nocturnal and diurnal periods. The cutoff points we found in this study may provide the therapeutic targets for beta-cell function and pre-sleep glycemic level in clinical practice.

Abstract
Purpose The early stage of this study verified that a turmeric extract (TUR) including 59% curcumin (CU), 22% demethoxycurcumin (DMC), and 18% bisdemethoxycurcumin (BDMC), could enhance the stability of CU and had greater antidepressant potential in vitro. The objective of the study was to develop a nano-delivery system containing TUR (TUR-NE) to improve the pharmacokinetic behavior of TUR and enhance its antidepressant effect. Methods The antidepressant potential of TUR was explored using ABTS, oxidative stress-induced cell injury, and a high-throughput screening model. TUR-NE was fabricated, optimized and characterized. The pharmacokinetic behaviors of TUR-NE were evaluated following oral administration to normal rats. The antidepressant effect of TUR-NE was assessed within chronic unpredictable mild stress model (CUMS) mice. The behavioral and biochemical indexes of mice were conducted. Results The results depicted that TUR had 3.18 and 1.62 times higher antioxidant capacity than ascorbic acid and CU, respectively. The inhibition effect of TUR on ASP+ transport was significantly enhanced compared with fluoxetine and CU. TUR-NE displayed a particle size of 116.0 ± 0.31 nm, polydispersity index value of 0.121 ± 0.007, an encapsulation rate of 98.45%, and good release and stability in cold storage. The results of pharmacokinetics indicated the AUC(0-t) of TUR-NE was 8.436 and 4.495 times higher than that of CU and TUR, while the Cmax was 9.012 and 5.452 times higher than that of CU and TUR, respectively. The pharmacodynamic study confirmed that the superior antidepressant effect of TUR-NE by significantly improving the depressant-like behaviors and elevating the content of 5-hydroxytryptamine in plasma and brain in CUMS mice. TUR-NE showed good safety with repeated administration. Conclusion TUR-NE, which had small and uniform particle size, enhanced the bioavailability and antidepressant effect of TUR. It could be a promising novel oral preparation against depression.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Magnifying image-enhanced endoscopy (MIEE) is an advanced endoscopy with image enhancement and magnification used in preoperative examination. However, its impact on the detection rate is unknown. METHODS We conducted an open-label, randomized, parallel (1:1:1), controlled trial in 6 hospitals in China. Patients were recruited between February 14, 2022 and July 30, 2022. Eligible patients were aged ≥18 years and undergoing gastroscopy in outpatient departments. Participants were randomly assigned to the MIEE-only mode (o-MIEE) group, white-light endoscopy-only mode (o-WLE) group, and MIEE when necessary mode (n-MIEE) group (initial WLE followed by switching to another endoscope with MIEE if necessary). Biopsy sampling of suspicious lesions of the lesser curvature of the gastric antrum was performed. Primary and secondary aims were to compare detection rates and positive predictive value (PPV) of early cancer and precancerous lesions in these 3 modes, respectively. RESULTS A total of 5100 recruited patients were randomly assigned to the o-MIEE (n = 1700), o-WLE (n = 1700), and n-MIEE (n = 1700) groups. In the o-MIEE, o-WLE, and n-MIEE groups, 29 (1.51%; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.05-2.16), 4 (.21%; 95% CI, .08-.54), and 8 (.43%; 95% CI, .22-.85) early cancers were found, respectively (P < .001). The PPV for early cancer was higher in the o-MIEE group compared with the o-WLE and n-MIEE groups (63.04%, 33.33%, and 38.1%, respectively; P = .062). The same trend was seen for precancerous lesions (36.67%, 10.00%, and 21.74%, respectively). CONCLUSIONS The o-MIEE mode resulted in a significant improvement in diagnosing early upper GI cancer and precancerous lesions; thus, it could be used for opportunistic screening. Abstract
As a crucial component of neuromorphic chips, on-chip memory usually occupies most of the on-chip resources and limits the improvement of neuron density. The alternative of using off-chip memory may result in additional power consumption or even a bottleneck for off-chip data access. This article proposes an on- and off-chip co-design approach and a figure of merit (FOM) to achieve a trade-off between chip area, power consumption, and data access bandwidth. By evaluating the FOM of each design scheme, the scheme with the highest FOM (1.085× better than the baseline) is adopted to design a neuromorphic chip. Deep multiplexing and weight-sharing technologies are used to reduce on-chip resource overhead and data access pressure. A hybrid memory design method is proposed to optimize on- and off-chip memory distribution, which reduces on-chip storage pressure and total power consumption by 92.88% and 27.86%, respectively, while avoiding the explosion of off-chip access bandwidth. The co-designed neuromorphic chip with ten cores fabricated under standard 55 nm CMOS technology has an area of 4.4 mm 2 and a core neuron density of 4.92 K/mm 2, an improvement of 3.39 ∼ 30.56× compared with previous works. After deploying a full-connected and a convolution-based spiking neural network (SNN) for ECG signal recognition, the neuromorphic chip achieves 92% and 95% accuracy, respectively. This work provides a new path for developing high-density and large-scale neuromorphic chips.

Abstract
There has been an increase in cardiovascular morbidity and mortality over the past few decades, making cardiovascular disease (CVD) the leading cause of death worldwide. However, the pathogenesis of CVD is multi-factorial, complex, and not fully understood. The gut microbiome has long been recognized to play a critical role in maintaining the physiological and metabolic health of the host. Recent scientific advances have provided evidence that alterations in the gut microbiome and its metabolites have a profound influence on the development and progression of CVD. Among the trillions of microorganisms in the gut, bifidobacteria, which, interestingly, were found through the literature to play a key role not only in regulating gut microbiota function and metabolism, but also in reducing classical risk factors for CVD (e.g., obesity, hyperlipidemia, diabetes) by suppressing oxidative stress, improving immunomodulation, and correcting lipid, glucose, and cholesterol metabolism. This review explores the direct and indirect effects of bifidobacteria on the development of CVD and highlights its potential therapeutic value in hypertension, atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, and heart failure. By describing the key role of Bifidobacterium in the link between gut microbiology and CVD, we aim to provide a theoretical basis for improving the subsequent clinical applications of Bifidobacterium and for the development of Bifidobacterium nutritional products.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To construct a schistosomiasis transmission risk assessment system in Wuhan City and preliminary evaluate its application effect, so as to promote the rational allocation of schistosomiasis control resources and accelerate the progress towards schistosomiasis elimination. METHODS The schistosomiasis risk assessment indicators were collected through referring schistosomiasis surveillance data of Wuhan City from 2014 to 2020, literature review and expert interviews. Indicators within each criterion and sub-criterion were screened using the Delphi method, and a hierarchical structure model was created based on analytic hierarchy process. Quantitative assignment of each indicator was conducted according to relative importance, and the weight and combination weight of each criterion were calculated in each analytic hierarchy framework to create a schistosomiasis transmission risk assessment system, which was used for the schistosomiasis transmission risk assessment in 12 national schistosomiasis surveillance sites in Wuhan City. RESULTS A three-level schistosomiasis transmission risk assessment system was preliminarily constructed, which included a target layer, 5 criterion layers and 21 sub-criterion layers. Of all indicators in the criterion layer, transmission route had the highest weight (0.433), followed by source of Schistosoma japonicum infection (0.294); and among all indicators in the sub-criterion layer, S. japonicum infection in Oncomelania hupensis and sentinel mice had the highest combination weight (0.125), followed by prevalence of S. japonicum infection in humans (0.091) and bovines (0.053), snail control by chemical treatment (0.049), positive rate of inquiry examinations (0.048), allocation of schistosomiasis control professionals (0.045), and areas of submerged snail-infested settings (0.041). Of the 12 national schistosomiasis surveillance sites in Wuhan City, there were 5 sites with weights of > 0.8, 4 sites with weights of 0.6 to 0.8, and 3 sites with weights of < 0.6 in 2020. CONCLUSIONS A schistosomiasis transmission risk assessment system has been constructed based on analytic hierarchy process in Wuhan City, which may provide a evidence-based basis for health resource allocation and decision-making for schistosomiasis control.

Abstract
Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a chronic relapsing psychiatric disorder. Conventional antidepressants usually require several weeks of continuous administration to exert clinically significant therapeutic effects, while about two-thirds of the patients are prone to relapse of symptoms or are completely ineffective in antidepressant treatment. The recent success of the N-methyl-D-aspartic acid (NMDA) receptor antagonist ketamine as a rapid-acting antidepressant has propelled extensive research on the action mechanism of antidepressants, especially in relation to its role in synaptic targets. Studies have revealed that the mechanism of antidepressant action of ketamine is not limited to antagonism of postsynaptic NMDA receptors or GABA interneurons. Ketamine produces powerful and rapid antidepressant effects by affecting α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazole-propionic acid receptors, adenosine A1 receptors, and the L-type calcium channels, among others in the synapse. More interestingly, the 5-HT2A receptor agonist psilocybin has demonstrated potential for rapid antidepressant effects in depressed mouse models and clinical studies. This article focuses on a review of new pharmacological target studies of emerging rapid-acting antidepressant drugs such as ketamine and hallucinogens (e.g., psilocybin) and briefly discusses the possible strategies for new targets of antidepressants, with a view to shed light on the direction of future antidepressant research.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) infection has an increased risk for fertility-related and pregnancy adverse outcomes partly due to mechanisms related to a pro-inflammatory response to CT-, or cHSP60-induced delayed hypersensitivity. This study aimed to assess the evidence on the association between CT serology and adverse outcomes. METHODS PubMed/Medline, Embase and Web of Science databases were searched for observational studies on the association of CT-specific antibodies (e. g. IgG, IgA, IgM, etc.) with infertility, tubal factor infertility (TFIF), ectopic pregnancy (EP), spontaneous abortion (SA), or preterm labor (PL) that were published from database inception to 31 August 2022. Pooled adjusted odds ratios or relative risks with corresponding 95% confidence intervals were calculated using a random effects model. This study was registered with PROSPERO (CRD42022368366). FINDINGS We identified 128 studies that met the inclusion criteria, comprising 87 case-control, 34 cross-sectional and 7 cohort studies, for a total of 167 records involving 128,625 women participants included into the meta-analyses. Based on the adjusted estimates, it was found that CT-specific IgG was significantly associated with TFIF (pooled adjusted OR = 2.09, 95% CI 1.33-3.27, I2 = 63.8%) or EP (pooled adjusted OR = 3.00, 95% CI 1.66-5.40, I2 = 93.0%). Analyses of the unadjusted estimates indicated significant associations between CT-specific IgG and infertility, TFIF, EP or SA (four pooled unadjusted ORs ranging between 1.60 and 5.14, I2 ranging between 40% and 83%); IgA and infertility, TFIF, EP (three pooled unadjusted ORs ranging between 3.64 and 4.91, I2 ranging between 0% and 74%); IgM and TFIF (pooled unadjusted OR = 5.70, 95% CI 1.58-20.56, I2 = 56%); or cHSP60 and TFIF (pooled unadjusted OR = 7.83, 95% CI 5.42-11.31, I2 = 49%). INTERPRETATION A broad range of CT-specific antibodies have been studied in association with fertility-related and pregnancy adverse outcomes. However, our study identified a low- or moderate-quality evidence for an association of CT serology with the outcomes. There are substantial research gaps in relation to the clinical implications of CT serological biomarkers. Abstract
BACKGROUND The diagnosis of sensitive skin remains nonuniform, and the underlying mechanism is unclear. Previous studies were inconsistent in the current perception threshold (CPT) measurement for sensitive skin; thus, the neural sensitivity of sensitive skin needs to be clarified. OBJECTIVES This study aimed to compare the CPT measurement and the cowhage test for sensitive skin and to investigate the correlation between CPT values and cowhage-itch scores. METHODS Participants with and without sensitive skin (n = 30, 30) were included. The cowhage test and CPT measurement with its related sensations were performed. RESULTS No difference was found in CPT between the sensitive and nonsensitive groups at either the site of the face or the forearm (5, 250, or 2000 Hz). Once the CPT was reached, sensations (itch, stinging, and throbbing) were significantly different between the two groups. Cowhage provoked more intense itch with a longer duration in the face (visual analog scale [VAS] score 1.90 ± 1.47 vs. 0.52 ± 0.90, p < 0.001; duration 3.80 ± 3.31 vs. 0.87 ± 1.43 min, p < 0.001) and forearm (VAS 2.53 ± 2.60 vs. 0.72 ± 1.06, p < 0.001; duration 3.37 ± 3.46 vs. 1.33 ± 2.14 min, p < 0.01) of the sensitive group compared with the nonsensitive group. Cowhage-induced itch and CPT-related itch (5 Hz) showed moderate correlations in both the face (r = 0.441, p < 0.001) and forearm (r = 0.491 p < 0.001) and weak correlations in the forearm (r = 0.323 at 250 Hz, p = 0.012; r = 0.376 at 2000 Hz, p = 0.003). CONCLUSIONS Cowhage test showed better performance in assessing the neural sensitivity of sensitive skin in comparison with the CPT measurement. Evaluation of CPT-related sensations may add valuable information to sensitive skin assessment.

Abstract
Background: Insulin Receptor Substrate (IRS) molecules play a major role in insulin signalling, and single nucleotide polymorphisms in the IRS-1 (rs1801278) and IRS-2 (rs1805097) gene has been associated with the predisposition to the development of type-2 diabetes (T2D) in some population. However, the observations remain contradictory. Discrepancies in the results have been attributed to several factors, and consideration of a smaller sample size is one of them. To reach a valid conclusion, we performed a meta-analysis of the genetic association between IRS-1 (rs1801278) and IRS-2 (rs1805097) polymorphism with a predisposition to T2D. Materials and Methods: The literature search was performed in different databases such as PubMed, Science Direct, and Scopus. All relevant articles were screened and based in inclusion and exclusion criteria eligible reports were identified. Baseline characteristics, genotype and allele frequencies were extracted from the eligible reports. The meta-analysis was performed by comprehensive meta-analysis software v3.3.070 and odds ratios, 95% confidence interval and probability values were calculated to find out association of IRS-1 and IRS-2 polymorphisms with rhinitis. Results: A total of seven studies comprising 1287 cases and 1638 control were considered for the present meta-analysis for the association of IRS-1 (rs1801278) polymorphism with T2D, and no significant association was observed. For IRS-2 (rs1805097) polymorphism, data from eight cohorts (cases: 1824, controls: 1786) were considered. The heterozygous genetic comparison models revealed a significant protective association against T2D predisposition (p = 0.017, OR = 0.841, 95% CI = 0.729 to 0.970). The trial sequential analysis revealed the requirement of additional case-control studies to draw a definitive conclusion for IRS-1 polymorphism. Conclusions: IRS-2 rs1805097 heterozygotes are protected from T2D development. However, IRS-1 (rs1801278) is not associated with a subject's proclivity for T2D.

Abstract
Colorectal cancer (CRC) has high incidence and mortality rates and is one of the most common cancers of the digestive tract worldwide. Metastasis and drug resistance are the main causes of cancer treatment failure. Studies have recently suggested extracellular vesicles (EVs) as a novel mechanism for intercellular communication. They are vesicular particles, which are secreted and released into biological fluids, such as blood, urine, milk, etc., by a variety of cells and carry numerous biologically active molecules, including proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, metabolites, etc. EVs play a crucial part in the metastasis and drug resistance of CRC by delivering cargo to recipient cells and modulating their behavior. An in-depth exploration of EVs might facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the biological behavior of CRC metastasis and drug resistance, which might provide a basis for developing therapeutic strategies. Therefore, considering the specific biological properties of EVs, researchers have attempted to explore their potential as next-generation delivery systems. On the other hand, EVs have also been demonstrated as biomarkers for the prediction, diagnosis, and presumed prognosis of CRC. This review focuses on the role of EVs in regulating the metastasis and chemoresistance of CRC. Moreover, the clinical applications of EVs are also discussed.

Abstract
Depression is a common mental illness, which is related to monoamine neurotransmitters and the dysfunction of the cholinergic, immune, glutamatergic, and neuroendocrine systems. The hypothesis of monoamine neurotransmitters is one of the commonly recognized pathogenic mechanisms of depression; however, the drugs designed based on this hypothesis have not achieved good clinical results. A recent study demonstrated that depression and inflammation were strongly correlated, and the activation of alpha7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7 nAChR)-mediated cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway (CAP) in the cholinergic system exhibited good therapeutic effects against depression. Therefore, anti-inflammation might be a potential direction for the treatment of depression. Moreover, it is also necessary to further reveal the key role of inflammation and α7 nAChR in the pathogenesis of depression. This review focused on the correlations between inflammation and depression as well-discussed the crucial role of α7 nAChR in the CAP.

Abstract
1. This review assessed the effect of dietary clay supplementation as a drug and toxin adsorbent on broiler growth performance as a meta-analysis.2. A total of 33 eligible studies were included in the present study after identification and evaluation from online databases. Standardised mean differences (SMD) with corresponding 95% confidence intervals were computed with a fixed-effects model.3. The results indicated that clay supplementation significantly improved broiler daily gain (P < 0.001) and feed conversion ratio (P < 0.001), but did not affect feed intake (P = 0.954). Results of subgroup analysis showed that zeolite clay had the most stable medium improvement effect on FCR, while kaolin had a large effect. In addition, male broilers and Cobb or Ross broilers were more sensitive to the addition of clay, and the best supplemental levels, in general, were 10 g/kg to 30 g/kg.4. Meta-regression analysis showed that clay supplemental level and sex of broilers may be important factors in the effect of clay on ADG and FCR of broilers, respectively. The sensitivity analysis showed high stability of the results and no significant publication bias was found with funnel plot analysis and Egger's or Begg's test (P > 0.05).5. In conclusion, an appropriate addition level is a prerequisite for effective clay application. Kaolin and zeolite clays seem to be more suitable for enhancing broiler growth performance, and the value of clay is amplified in specific broiler breeds.

Abstract
Background This study aimed to construct a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) index for assessing transmural inflammatory activity in the small intestine of patients with Crohn' disease which enables rapid and non-invasive quantitative assessment of Crohn's disease inflammation. Methods In this prospective study, magnetic resonance enterography (MRE) was performed to examine 29 consecutive patients with Crohn's disease who had undergone ileocolonoscopy in the Jingling hospital of Nanjing. This diagnostic study was not registered on a clinical trial platform. We grade the T2 signal ratio and T1 enhancement ratio with a score of 0 to 3. The ratios were calculated as follow: terminal ileal inflammation of intestinal T2 signal intensity/adjacent normal intestinal T2 signal intensity (T2 ratio 1), terminal ileal inflammation intestinal T2 signal intensity/vertical muscle T2 signal intensity (T2 ratio 2), the fifth phase of the inflamed intestinal T1 signal intensity/noncontrast intestine T1 signal (T1 ratio 3), and the fifth phase of inflamed intestinal T1 signal intensity/adjacent normal intestinal T1 signal (T1 ratio 4). Wall thickness, lymph nodes, perimural T2 signal, comb sign, and ulceration were graded from 0 to 3. the simple endoscopic score for Crohn's disease (SES-CD) from 0 to 12 was used to assess Crohn's disease activity as a reference. The study calculated the correlations between the MRE activity index and endoscopic activity scores and derived the MRE index model to assess Crohn's disease activity. Results The MRE index model (a T1 ratio 4 score of 1.52 + an ulceration score of 2.03) had a sensitivity of 0.962, a specificity of 0.667, and an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.968 [95% confidence interval (CI): 0.921-1.000]. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) for the interobserver agreement of the MRE index was 0.921 (95% CI: 0.833-0.963). Conclusions The study derived an MRE index with good sensitivity to inflammatory changes in the small bowel. The index could be used to assess Crohn's disease activity of the small bowel.

Abstract
Purpose The present study aimed to construct a co-loading platform encapsulating curcumin and paclitaxel at ratios of 2:1-80:1 (w/w) designated "CU-PTX-LNP" and explored the synergistic effects of CU-PTX at different composite proportions on liver cancer cells using the combination index (CI) method. Methods The CU lipid nanoplatform (CU-LNP) formulation was optimized via single-factor and orthogonal experiments. Various concentrations of PTX were added to the optimal formulation of CU-LNP to generate CU-PTX-LNP and the nanoplatform characterized via differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), zeta potential, polydispersity index (PDI), and size analyses. The cumulative release, stability, and cytotoxicity of CU-PTX-LNP in LO2, HepG2, and SMMC-7221 cells were assessed in vitro, followed by safety investigation and pharmacokinetic studies in vivo. The anti-tumor activity of CU-PTX-LNP was also evaluated using nude mice. Results CU-PTX-LNP formulations containing CU:PTX at a range of proportions (2:1-80:1; w/w) appeared as uniformly dispersed nanosized spherical particles with high entrapment efficiency (EE> 90%), sustained release and long-lasting stability. Data from in vitro cytotoxicity assays showed a decrease in the IC50 value of PTX of CU-PTX-LNP (by 5.47-332.7 times in HepG2 and 4.29-143.21 times in SMMC-7221 cells) compared to free PTX. In vivo, CU-PTX-LNP displayed excellent biosafety, significant anti-tumor benefits and enhanced pharmacokinetic behavior with longer mean residence time (MRT(0-t); CU: 4.31-fold, PTX: 4.61-fold) and half-life (t1/2z; CU: 1.83-fold, PTX: 2.28-fold) relative to free drugs. Conclusion The newly designed CU-PTX-LNP platform may serve as a viable technological support system for the successful production of CU-PTX composite preparations.

Abstract
Most of the traditional image feature point extraction and matching methods are based on a series of light properties of images. These light properties easily conflict with the distinguishability of the image features. The traditional light imaging methods focus only on a fixed depth of the target scene, and subjects at other depths are often easily blurred. This makes the traditional image feature point extraction and matching methods suffer from a low accuracy and a poor robustness. Therefore, in this paper, a light field camera is used as a sensor to acquire image data and to generate a full-focus image with the help of the rich depth information inherent in the original image of the light field. The traditional ORB feature point extraction and matching algorithm is enhanced with the goal of improving the number and accuracy of the feature point extraction for the light field full-focus images. The results show that the improved ORB algorithm extracts not only most of the features in the target scene but also covers the edge part of the image to a greater extent and produces extracted feature points which are evenly distributed for the light field full-focus image. Moreover, the extracted feature points are not repeated in a large number in a certain part of the image, eliminating the aggregation phenomenon that exists in traditional ORB algorithms.

Abstract
Purpose Paclitaxel (PTX) has been widely utilized for the treatment of breast cancer. However, drawbacks, such as poor aqueous solubility, rapid blood clearance and severe toxicity, greatly reduce its efficacy and safety. Herein, a novel self-developed curcumin derivative (CUD) was chosen as the carrier to develop a long-acting PTX nano-delivery system (PTX-Sln@CUD) in order to improve its pharmacokinetic behavior, anti-breast cancer efficacy and safety. Methods PTX-Sln@CUD was prepared using solid dispersion and ultrasonic technology. Relevant physical and chemical properties, including stability and release behavior, were characterized. The clearance of PTX-Sln@CUD in vivo was studied by pharmacokinetic experiments. The anti-tumor activity of PTX-Sln@CUD was investigated in vitro and in vivo. Hemolysis experiments, acute toxicity and cumulative toxicity studies were performed in mice to determine the safety of PTX-Sln@CUD. Results The average particle size, PDI, Zeta potential, encapsulation efficiency and loading efficiency of the PTX-Sln@CUD were 238.5 ± 4.79 nm, 0.225 ± 0.011, −33.8 ± 1.26 mV, 94.20 ± 0.49% and 10.98 ± 0.31%, respectively. PTX-Sln@CUD was found to be stable at room temperature for half a year. The cumulative release rates of PTX-Sln@CUD at 24, 96 and 168 h were 17.98 ± 2.60, 57.09 ± 2.32 and 72.66 ± 4.16%, respectively, which were adherent to zero-order kinetics. T1/2, MRT (0-t) and AUC (0-t) of the PTX-Sln@CUD group were 4.03-fold (44.293 h), 7.78-fold (38.444 h) and 6.18-fold (14.716 mg/L*h) of the PTX group, respectively. PTX-Sln@CUD group demonstrated stronger anti-breast cancer activity than the PTX group. Importantly, the PTX-Sln@CUD group was safer compared to the PTX group both in vitro and in vivo. Conclusion PTX-Sln@CUD was verified as promising therapeutic nanoparticles for breast cancer and provided a novel strategy to solve the problem of low efficacy and poor safety of clinical chemotherapy drugs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers in women worldwide. Hexokinase 2 (HK2) is responsible for phosphorylating glucose into glucose-6-phosphate, which is required for tumorigenesis and metastasis. METHODS E6E7 and FTO were exogenously expressed, and their effects on HK2 mRNA and protein levels were detected by RT-qPCR and Western blot. RESULTS The exogenous expression of E6E7 in SiHa and C33A cells up-regulated the mRNA and protein levels of intracellular HK2, up-regulated the total m6A levels, changed the expression of m6A proteins and activated the GSK3β transcription. The expression levels of METTL3 and WTAP were enhanced, whereas the expression of FTO and ALKBH5 were decreased. In addition, FTO down-regulated the mRNA and protein levels of HK2. FTO overexpression partially inhibited the up-regulated expression of HK2 caused by E6E7. Furthermore, FTO overexpression increased the level of HK2 pre-mRNA in the nucleus and decreased the level of mature HK2 mRNA in the cytoplasm. We also found that GSK3β overexpression enhanced FTO ubiquitination and decreased FTO protein levels. CONCLUSION This study found that E6E7 oncogene activates the transcription of GSK3β; GSK3β can promote the ubiquitination-proteasomal degradation of FTO and reduce the level of FTO protein; FTO inhibits the maturation and translation of HK2 mRNA by retaining HK2 pre-mRNA in the nucleus.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hyperpigmentary disorder is one of the commonest skin concerns in dermatology clinics. The availability of noninvasive instruments provided a convenient, objective, and reproducible methodology for the evaluation of pigmentation and skin color. The aim of this study is to compare CSKIN and VISIA in measuring facial hyperpigmentation, as well as to assess the correlation between the instrumental analyzing and clinical evaluation. METHODS Eighty Chinese patients were enrolled. Images were taken and analyzed by VISIA from Canfield and CSKIN from Yanyun Technology, and the facial hyperpigmentation was graded by three dermatologists. RESULTS Feature counts within the facial pigmented areas analyzed by VISIA showed positive correlations with brown pixels (r = 0.331, p < 0.05) and brown percent (r = 0.395, p < 0.0001) measured by CSKIN. The parameters measured by CSKIN and VISIA were significantly correlated with visual scores graded by the dermatologists, with VISIA presenting a moderate correlation (r = 0.509, p < 0.001) and CSKIN a slightly stronger correlation with the visual scores (r = 0.653, p < 0.001). CONCLUSION CSKIN could serve as an alternative in the assessment and follow-up of skin disease featuring with facial hyperpigmentation.

Abstract
GOAL The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of vitamin C solution (VCS) in reducing adverse reactions caused by painless Lugol chromoendoscopy. BACKGROUND Lugol chromoendoscopy is an effective method for screening superficial esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, although Lugol iodine solution (LIS) causes mucosal irritation. STUDY In 4 hospitals in China, patients were randomized and divided into a distilled water (DW) group, an sodium thiosulfate solution (STS) group and a VCS group. Patients' esophageal mucosal surfaces were stained with either 1.2% or 0.5% LIS and then sprayed with DW, STS, or VCS at various concentrations. For the current randomized study, 1610 patients were enrolled in the 1.2% LIS group and 1355 patients were enrolled in the 0.5% LIS group. In addition, 150 patients were enrolled to assess the discoloration effect. The primary outcome for evaluation was the incidence of acute or late adverse reactions after Lugol iodine staining. The secondary outcome for evaluation was the discoloration effect on esophageal iodine-stained mucosa. RESULTS VCS significantly reduced the occurrence of acute adverse reactions due to staining from 1.2% LIS. The effect of VCS was similar to that of STS but better than that of DW ( P <0.05). Regarding 0.5% LIS staining, VCS reduced the incidence of acute adverse reactions and heartburn within 1 week ( P <0.05). Both VCS and STS had similar effects. In addition, compared with spraying NS, VCS caused rapid decolorization of iodine-stained esophageal mucosa. After 120 seconds of deiodination, the color of the esophageal mucosa faded by 90%, which is similar to the results seen in the STS group. This contrasts with the results seen in the DW group, which showed fading by only 50.97% ( P <0.05). CONCLUSION VCS can effectively reduce adverse reactions caused by different concentrations of LIS, indicating its important clinical application in the screening of superficial esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

Abstract
The regime of self-compression has been proposed for plasma-based backward Raman amplification upon a flying focus. By using a pumping focus moving with a speed equal to the group velocity of stimulated Raman backscattering (SRBS), only a short part of SRBS which always synchronizes with the flying focus can be amplified. Therefore, instead of a short pulse, plasma noise or a long pulse can seed the BRA amplifiers. Here we demonstrate the regime by 2D particle-in-cell simulations, showing that the pump pulse is compressed from 26 ps to 116 fs, with an output amplitude comparable with the case of a well-synchronized short seed. As only one laser pulse is used in the simulation, the results present a significant path to simplify the Raman amplifiers.
