Abstract
1. This study evaluated the effectiveness of different types of acidifiers on reproductive performance, body weight loss and plasma biochemical indices of breeding pigeons as well as on growth performance, carcass characteristics, meat quality and plasma biochemical indices of squabs.2. In a 45 d trial, 144 pairs of European white Mimas pigeons were selected and randomly divided into three experimental groups. Three groups of pigeons were fed plain pigeon grit (NC), pigeon grit supplemented with 5% single acidifier (SAG) and pigeon grit supplemented with 5% combined acidifiers (CAG).3. Supplementing with SAG and CAG significantly increased the weight gain in male pigeons from 1-12 d of incubation. However, SAG and CAG had no significant effect on the feed intake of breeding pigeons during incubation, but significantly increased total feed intake of breeding pigeons during the lactation period. Breeder pigeons fed SAG and CAG had significantly higher egg-laying rate at 40 d. In addition, feeding SAG and CAG significantly increased growth rate and slaughter weight of squabs, but SAG reduced the diameter of pectoral muscle fibres. Biochemical indices showed that feeding SAG and CAG improved metabolism and increased the liver function of breeder pigeons and squabs.4. In conclusion, supplementing pigeon grit with acidifiers increased feed intake of breeding pigeons during lactation, protected liver function, enhanced reproductive performance and promoted the growth and development of squabs.

Abstract
We developed a model of inflammation and airway remodeling in C57 mice provoked by exosomes derived from bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells infected by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The mean size of control and infected exosomes in vitro were 167.9 and 118.5 nm, respectively. After induction of modeled pathology, the severity of airway inflammation and its remodeling were analyzed by histopathological methods. In addition, the blood levels of inflammatory factors IL-10, IL-17, transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β), and TNFα were assayed; in the lung tissues, the expression levels of MMP-2, MMP-9, α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), and TGF-β were measured. In the developed model, the effects of RSV-induced and non-induced exosomes were compared with those of inactivated and non-inactivated RSV. Intranasal administration of RSV-induced exosomes decreased the levels of serum inflammatory factors IL-10 and IL-17 and increased the expression of serum proinflammatory cytokine TNFα. Increased levels of MMP-2, MMP-9, and α-SMA, enhanced expression of TGF-β in the lung tissue, and pathological staining of the lung tissues indicated infiltration with inflammatory cells and luminal constriction. Thus, RSV-induced exosomes can provoke airway inflammation and remodeling in mice similar to RSV, while non-induced exosomes cannot produce such alterations.

Abstract
Apoptosis is the most prominent mode of programmed cell death and is necessary for the maintenance of tissue homeostasis. During cell apoptosis, a distinctive population of extracellular vesicles is generated, termed apoptotic vesicles (apoVs). ApoVs inherit a variety of biological molecules such as proteins, RNAs, nuclear components, lipids, and gasotransmitters from their parent cells. ApoVs have shown promising therapeutic potential for inflammation, tumors, immune disorders, and tissue regeneration. In addition, apoVs can be used as drug carriers, vaccine development, and disease diagnosis. Recently, apoVs have been used in clinical trials to treat a variety of diseases, such as temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis and the regeneration of functional alveolar bone. Here, we review the history of apoV research, current preclinical and clinical studies, and the potential issues of apoV application.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Breast cancer poses a significant health risk to women worldwide, with approximately 30% being diagnosed annually in the United States. The identification of cancerous mammary tissues from non-cancerous ones during surgery is crucial for the complete removal of tumors. RESULTS Our study innovatively utilized machine learning techniques (Random Forest (RF), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)) alongside Raman spectroscopy to streamline and hasten the differentiation of normal and late-stage cancerous mammary tissues in mice. The classification accuracy rates achieved by these models were 94.47% for RF, 96.76% for SVM, and 97.58% for CNN, respectively. To our best knowledge, this study was the first effort in comparing the effectiveness of these three machine-learning techniques in classifying breast cancer tissues based on their Raman spectra. Moreover, we innovatively identified specific spectral peaks that contribute to the molecular characteristics of the murine cancerous and non-cancerous tissues. CONCLUSIONS Consequently, our integrated approach of machine learning and Raman spectroscopy presents a non-invasive, swift diagnostic tool for breast cancer, offering promising applications in intraoperative settings.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the application value of the domestic precision ®single-port robotic system in nephron sparing surgery. Methods: The clinical data of patients with renal masses underwent nephron sparing surgery using the domestic precision ®single-port robotic system at the PLA General Hospital, Gulou Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing University School of Medicine, Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University and the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from September to November 2023 were retrospectively included. Perioperative clinical data, pathological examination results, and postoperative complications were summarized. Results: A total of 12 patients were included, including 8 males and 4 females, with 26-75 (56±16) years. Body mass index (BMI) was (25.1±2.7) kg/m2. There were 6 cases on the left side and 6 case on the right side. The surgical approach was transabdominal in 9 cases and retroperitoneal in 3 case. The maximum diameter of the lesions was (2.7±0.7) cm, the warm ischemia time [M (Q1, Q3)] was 19 (15, 26) minutes, the surgical time was 180 (149, 216) minutes, and the intraoperative blood loss was 50 (28, 100) ml. Postoperative visual analogue scale (VAS) was (2.9±1.5) points. Postoperative pathology revealed malignant renal clear cell carcinoma in 9 cases, with nuclear grading of 3 cases for Grade 1, 3 cases for Grade 2, and 3 cases for Grade 3. Eight cases of pathological TNM staging were pT1aN0M0 and 1 case was pT3aN0M0, with no cancer at the resection margin. Three cases showed benign renal vascular smooth muscle lipoma. There were no postoperative blood transfusions and no complications such as fever, urine leakage and poor wound healing. Conclusion: The prliminary experience reveals that the domestic precision ®single-port laparoscopic robotic system has good clinical application value in urological nephron sparing surgery.

Abstract
This Letter presents results from a combination of searches for Higgs boson pair production using 126-140 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector. At 95% confidence level (CL), the upper limit on the production rate is 2.9 times the standard model (SM) prediction, with an expected limit of 2.4 assuming no Higgs boson pair production. Constraints on the Higgs boson self-coupling modifier κ_{λ}=λ_{HHH}/λ_{HHH}^{SM}, and the quartic HHVV coupling modifier κ_{2V}=g_{HHVV}/g_{HHVV}^{SM}, are derived individually, fixing the other parameter to its SM value. The observed 95% CL intervals are -1.2<κ_{λ}<7.2 and 0.6<κ_{2V}<1.5, respectively, while the expected intervals are -1.6<κ_{λ}<7.2 and 0.4<κ_{2V}<1.6 in the SM case. Constraints obtained for several interaction parameters within Higgs effective field theory are the strongest to date, offering insights into potential deviations from SM predictions.

Abstract
Tooth cracks, one of the most common dental diseases, can result in the tooth falling apart without prompt treatment; dentists also have difficulty locating cracks, even with X-ray imaging. Indocyanine green (ICG) assisted near-infrared fluorescence (NIRF) dental imaging technique can solve this problem due to the deep penetration of NIR light and the excellent fluorescence characteristics of ICG. This study extracted 593 human cracked tooth images and 601 non-cracked tooth images from NIR imaging videos. Multiple imaging analysis methods such as classification, object detection, and super-resolution were applied to the dataset for cracked image analysis. Our results showed that machine learning methods could help analyze tooth crack efficiently: the tooth images with cracks and without cracks could be well classified with the pre-trained residual network and squeezenet1_1 models, with a classification accuracy of 88.2% and 94.25%, respectively; the single shot multi-box detector (SSD) was able to recognize cracks, even if the input image was at a different size from the original cracked image; the super-resolution (SR) model, SR-generative adversarial network demonstrated enhanced resolution of crack images using high-resolution concrete crack images as the training dataset. Overall, deep learning model-assisted human crack analysis improves crack identification; the combination of our NIR dental imaging system and deep learning models has the potential to assist dentists in crack diagnosis.

Abstract
This Letter presents the first study of the energy dependence of diboson polarization fractions in WZ→ℓνℓ^{'}ℓ^{'}(ℓ,ℓ^{'}=e,μ) production. The dataset used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector. Two fiducial regions with an enhanced presence of events featuring two longitudinally polarized bosons are defined. A nonzero fraction of events with two longitudinally polarized bosons is measured with an observed significance of 5.3 standard deviations in the region with 100 200 GeV, where p_{T}^{Z} is the transverse momentum of the Z boson. This Letter also reports the first study of the radiation-amplitude-zero effect. Events with two transversely polarized bosons are analyzed for the ΔY(ℓ_{W}Z) and ΔY(WZ) distributions defined respectively as the rapidity difference between the lepton from the W boson decay and the Z boson and the rapidity difference between the W boson and the Z boson. Significant suppression of events near zero is observed in both distributions. Unfolded ΔY(ℓ_{W}Z) and ΔY(WZ) distributions are also measured and compared to theoretical predictions.

Abstract
Mycobacterium bovis Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) is the primary treatment for non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC), known to stimulate inflammatory cytokines, notably interferon (IFN)-γ. We observed that prolonged IFN-γ exposure fosters adaptive resistance in recurrent tumors, aiding immune evasion and tumor proliferation. We identify HLA-E and NKG2A, part of a novel NK and T cell checkpoint pathway, as key mediators of resistance in BCG-unresponsive NMIBC. IFN-γ enhances HLA-E and PD-L1 expression in recurrent tumors, with an enrichment of intra-tumoral NKG2A-expressing NK and CD8 T cells. CXCL9+ macrophages and dendritic cells and CXCL12-expressing stromal cells likely recruit CXCR3/CXCR4-expressing NK and T cells and CXCR7+ HLA-EHIGH tumor cells. NK and CD8 T cells remain functional within BCG-unresponsive tumors but are inhibited by HLA-E and PD-L1, providing a framework for combined NKG2A and PD-L1 blockade strategy for bladder-sparing treatment of BCG-unresponsive NMIBC.

Abstract
Entanglement is a key feature of quantum mechanics1-3, with applications in fields such as metrology, cryptography, quantum information and quantum computation4-8. It has been observed in a wide variety of systems and length scales, ranging from the microscopic9-13 to the macroscopic14-16. However, entanglement remains largely unexplored at the highest accessible energy scales. Here we report the highest-energy observation of entanglement, in top-antitop quark events produced at the Large Hadron Collider, using a proton-proton collision dataset with a centre-of-mass energy of √s = 13 TeV and an integrated luminosity of 140 inverse femtobarns (fb)-1 recorded with the ATLAS experiment. Spin entanglement is detected from the measurement of a single observable D, inferred from the angle between the charged leptons in their parent top- and antitop-quark rest frames. The observable is measured in a narrow interval around the top-antitop quark production threshold, at which the entanglement detection is expected to be significant. It is reported in a fiducial phase space defined with stable particles to minimize the uncertainties that stem from the limitations of the Monte Carlo event generators and the parton shower model in modelling top-quark pair production. The entanglement marker is measured to be D = -0.537 ± 0.002 (stat.) ± 0.019 (syst.) for 340 GeV < m t t ¯ < 380 GeV . The observed result is more than five standard deviations from a scenario without entanglement and hence constitutes the first observation of entanglement in a pair of quarks and the highest-energy observation of entanglement so far.

Abstract
Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is an autosomal recessive genetic disease caused by the degeneration of the α-motor neurons in the anterior horn of the spinal cord. SMA is clinically characterized by progressive and symmetrical muscle weakness and muscle atrophy and ends up with systemic multisystem abnormalities. Quantitative MRI (qMRI) has the advantages of non-invasiveness, objective sensitivity, and high reproducibility, and has important clinical value in evaluating the severity of neuromuscular diseases and monitoring the efficacy of treatment. This article summarizes the clinical use of muscular MRI and magnetic resonance neurography in assessing the progress of SMA.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the causal relationship between sleep phenotype and idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) using two-sample bidirectional Mendelian randomization. METHODS The exposure data including 8 sleep phenotypes used in this study were obtained from GWAS catalog, FinnGenR10 and MRCIEU GWAS. The outcome data for idiopathic normal-pressure hydrocephalus were obtained from FinnGen R10. We used the inverse-variance weighted (IVW) method to perform the principal analyses. Cochrane Q-statistics test was used to assess the heterogeneity and MR Egger‑intercept test performed to evaluate the pleiotropy for sensitivity analyses. RESULTS IVW result showed that frequent daytime nap was associated with higher odds of iNPH (OR=3.3393, 95 CI% : 1.0646-10.4742, P=0.0270). Cochrane Q-statistics test and MR Egger‑intercept test showed that the MR analysis had no pleiotropy or heterogeneity (P > 0.05). The external validation reproduced this result (OR=2.5660, 95 CI% : 1.1680-5.6373, P=0.0189; OR=4.0424, 95 CI% : 1.5709-10.4024, P=0.0038). Reverse Mendelian randomization suggested that iNPH did not have significant impact on sleep phenotype. CONCLUSION The frequency of daytime naps is causally associated with iNPH, and reducing the frequency of weekly daytime naps can reduce the risk of iNPH in the elderly population.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the efficacy and safety of avapritinib in the treatment of molecular biologically positive core binding factor-acute myeloid leukemia (CBF-AML) with KIT mutation after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) . Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of six patients with molecular biologically positive CBF-AML with KIT mutation after allo-HSCT, who were treated with avapritinib at Henan Cancer Hospital from December 2021 to March 2023, and evaluated the efficacy and safety of avapritinib. Results: After 1 month of treatment with avapritinib, the transcription level of the fusion gene decreased in six patients, and the transcription level decreased by ≥1 log in five patients. In four patients who received avapritinib for ≥3 months, the fusion gene turned negative, and the median time to turn negative was 2.0 (range: 1.0-3.0) months. Up to the end of follow-up, four patients had no recurrence. The most common adverse reaction of avapritinib was myelosuppression, including neutropenia in two cases, thrombocytopenia in two cases, and anemia in one case. The non-hematological adverse reactions were nausea in two cases, edema in one case, and memory loss in one case, all of which were grades 1-2. Conclusion: Avapritinib was effective for molecular biologically positive CBF-AML patients with KIT mutation after allo-HSCT. The main adverse reaction was myelosuppression, which could generally be tolerated.

Abstract
The clinical data of 7 patients (3 males and 4 females) with functional pituitary neuroendocrine tumor treated by endoscopic transnasal resection of the cavernous sinus medial wall from May to October 2023 in the Department of Neurosurgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China were retrospectively analyzed. They ranged in age from 29 to 60, with an average age of 45. The clinical diagnosis was acromegaly in 5 cases and Cushing's disease in 2 cases. There were 1 cases of microadenoma and 6 cases of macroadenoma. Knosp grade: Grade 1 adenoma in 3 cases, grade 2 adenoma in 3 cases and grade 3A adenoma in 1 case. Intraoperative resection of cavernous sinus medial wall was performed on the side of tumor. Five cases were determined to be invaded by tumor, and 2 cases were uncertain. No internal carotid artery injury occurred in all patients. The average intraoperative blood loss was 156 ml, and no patient was transfused. Postoperative endocrine remission was found in 6 cases, and tumor cells were found in 6 cases by pathological examination of the medial wall of cavernous sinus. No serious complications occurred in all patients. For Knosp grade 1-3 functional pituitary neuroendocrine tumor surgery, if there is no clear false envelope or normal pituitary between the tumor and the cavernous sinus medial wall during the operation, the cavernous sinus medial wall should be actively removed to improve the postoperative endocrine remission rate.

Abstract
mRNA vaccine technology has made significant progress in recent years, especially with the large-scale application driven by the COVID-19 pandemic. Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines have become central tools in the global fight against the virus, demonstrating the potential of the mRNA platform for rapid design, production, and strong immune responses. These vaccines showcase the unique advantages of rapid response and effective protection. At the same time, mRNA technology still faces challenges, such as stability and targeted delivery. Future research will focus on improving the stability and safety of mRNA vaccine and expanding its application to more infectious diseases and cancer treatments. This article reviews platforms of mRNA vaccine, vaccine design, development of delivery system, and the application of mRNA vaccines, in order to enhance the understanding of professionals and accelerate the layout of this technology in vaccine research and application in China.

Abstract
Organs-on-chips are microphysiological systems that allow to replicate the key functions of human organs and accelerate the innovation in life sciences including disease modeling, drug development, and precision medicine. However, due to the lack of standards in their definition, structural design, cell source, model construction, and functional validation, a wide range of translational application of organs-on-chips remains a challenging. "Organs-on-chips: Intestine" is the first group standard on human intestine-on-a-chip in China, jointly agreed and released by the experts from the Chinese Society of Biotechnology on 29th April 2024. This standard specifies the scope, terminology, definitions, technical requirements, detection methods, and quality control in building the human intestinal model on a chip. The publication of this group standard will guide the institutional establishment, acceptance and execution of proper practical protocols and accelerate the international standardization of intestine-on-a-chip for translational applications.

Abstract
We report a measurement of exclusive J/ψ and ψ(2s) photoproduction in Au+Au ultraperipheral collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV using the STAR detector. For the first time, (i) the ψ(2s) photoproduction in midrapidity at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider has been experimentally measured; (ii) nuclear suppression factors are measured for both the coherent and incoherent J/ψ production. At average photon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 25.0 GeV, the coherent and incoherent J/ψ cross sections of Au nuclei are found to be 71±10% and 36±7%, respectively, of that of free protons. The stronger suppression observed in the incoherent production provides a new experimental handle to study the initial-state parton density in heavy nuclei. Data are compared with theoretical models quantitatively.

Abstract
Microplastics (MPs) are ubiquitous in freshwater ecosystems and their accumulation has been considered an emerging threat. Early research on the effects of MPs on macrophytes primarily focused on the toxicological impacts on individual macrophytes, with several studies suggesting that lower concentrations of MPs have little impact on macrophytes. However, the ecological implications of lower MP concentrations on macrophyte communities remain largely unexplored. Here, we experimented to assess the effects of lower concentrations including 25 mg/L, 50 mg/L, 75 mg/L, and 100 mg/L of polyethylene (PE) microplastics on Spirodela polyrhiza and Lemna minor, and their community. Our results also indicated that PE concentrations below 100 mg/L had no significant effect on relative growth rate, specific leaf area, Chlorophyll a, Chlorophyll b, Chlorophyll a + b, carotenoid, malondialdehyde (MDA), catalase, and soluble sugar of monocultural S. polyrhiza. However, a lower concentration of PE significantly decreased the MDA of monocultural L. minor and significantly affected the comprehensive index of S. polyrhiza. These findings suggested that lower concentrations of PE can influence interactions between macrophytes maybe due to the cumulative effects of many weak interactions. Additionally, our study showed that 75 mg/L and 100 mg/L PE additions decreased the competitive balance index value of two macrophytes under mixed-culture condition. This result implied that the ecological influence of lower concentration MPs on macrophytes may manifest at the community level rather than at the population level, due to species-specific responses and varying degrees of sensitivity of macrophytes to PE concentrations. Thus, our study emphasizes the need to closely monitor the ecological consequences of emerging contaminants such as MPs accumulation on macrophyte communities, rather than focusing solely on the morphology and physiology of individual macrophytes.

Abstract
At the origin of the Universe, an asymmetry between the amount of created matter and antimatter led to the matter-dominated Universe as we know it today. The origins of this asymmetry remain unknown so far. High-energy nuclear collisions create conditions similar to the Universe microseconds after the Big Bang, with comparable amounts of matter and antimatter1-6. Much of the created antimatter escapes the rapidly expanding fireball without annihilating, making such collisions an effective experimental tool to create heavy antimatter nuclear objects and to study their properties7-14, hoping to shed some light on the existing questions on the asymmetry between matter and antimatter. Here we report the observation of the antimatter hypernucleusH ¯ Λ ¯ 4 , composed of aΛ ¯ , an antiproton and two antineutrons. The discovery was made through its two-body decay after production in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions by the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider15,16. In total, 15.6 candidateH ¯ Λ ¯ 4 antimatter hypernuclei are obtained with an estimated background count of 6.4. The lifetimes of the antihypernucleiH ¯ Λ ¯ 3 andH ¯ Λ ¯ 4 are measured and compared with the lifetimes of their corresponding hypernuclei, testing the symmetry between matter and antimatter. Various production yield ratios among (anti)hypernuclei (hypernuclei and/or antihypernuclei) and (anti)nuclei (nuclei and/or antinuclei) are also measured and compared with theoretical model predictions, shedding light on their production mechanisms.

Abstract
The low-birth-weight of piglets is an important factor affecting pig enterprises. The placenta, as a key organ for material exchange between mother and foetus, directly influences the growth and development of the foetus. Allicin exhibits various biological activities, including anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It may also play a crucial role in enhancing sow reproductive performance and placental angiogenesis. In this study, we used 70 lactating Landrace × Yorkshire binary heterozygous sows to explore the effect of allicin on the reproductive performance of sows and placental development. The sows were randomly assigned into the Allicin group (Allicin), which was fed with a diet containing 0.25% allicin, and the negative control group, which was fed with basal feed. The experimental period lasted for 114 d from the date of mating to the end of farrowing. The results showed that the addition of allicin to the gestation diets increased the number of total born piglets, born alive piglets, and high-birth-weight piglets, reduced peripartum oxidative stress, alleviated dysregulation of glucose-lipid metabolism in sows, and increased the levels of antioxidant markers in the placenta. Differential analysis of metabolites in maternal plasma and placenta samples by non-targeted metabolomics revealed that allicin improved cholesterol metabolism, steroid biosynthesis, and increased plasma progesterone levels in sows. Allicin promoted sulphur metabolism, cysteine and methionine metabolism in placental samples and increased the hydrogen sulphide (H2S) content in the placenta. In addition, Quantitative Real-time PCR, Western blot and immunofluorescence results showed that allicin upregulated the expression of angiogenesis-related genes, VEGF-A, FLK 1 and Ang 1, in the placenta, implying that it promoted placental angiogenesis. These results indicate that supplementing the diet of pregnant sows with allicin reduces oxidative stress, alleviates dysregulation of glucose-lipid metabolism during the periparturient period, and promotes placental angiogenesis and foetal development by increasing plasma progesterone level and placental H2S content.

Abstract
We conducted a meta-analysis to determine the risk of infection following shoulder arthroscopy and to identify risk factors for infection. We systematically searched the PubMed/Medline, Embase and Cochrane Library databases, as well as the reference lists of previous systematic reviews and meta-analyses; manual searches were also performed. A random-effects model was employed to estimate pooled odds ratios (ORs), based on sample size, the P-value of Egger's test and heterogeneity among studies. Of the 29,342 articles screened, 16 retrospective studies comprising 74,759 patients were included. High-quality evidence showed that patients with diabetes (OR, 1.30; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.20-1.41) or hypertension (OR, 1.26; 95% CI, 1.10-1.44) had a higher risk of infection, while moderate quality evidence showed that patients with obesity (body mass index ≥30 kg/m2) (OR, 1.42; 95% CI, 1.28-1.57), those who were male (OR, 1.65; 95% CI, 1.12-2.44), those who had an American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) class ≥3 (OR, 2.02; 95% CI, 1.02-3.99) and those who had a history of smoking (OR, 2.44; 95% CI, 1.39-4.28) had a higher risk of infection. The meta-analysis revealed that there was no association between age, time of surgery, or alcohol consumption and infection. This meta-analysis identified six significant risk factors for infection following shoulder arthroscopy including diabetes, obesity, hypertension, male sex, ASA class, history of smoking. These patient-related risk factors may help identify postoperative patients at higher risk for infection following shoulder arthroscopy.
