[Congenital toxoplasmosis mimicking a cerebral tumor. Special aspects in serodiagnostics of connatal toxoplasmosis (author's transl)]

The authors present the first case of congenital toxoplasmosis mimicking a cerebral tumor. Serological reactions and special features of congenital toxoplasmosis relevant to diagnosing in this disease are discussed. Trials to prevent congenital toxoplasmosis as quoted from the literature are reviewed.

Safe insertion of tracheal T-tubes

A modified technique for the insertion of silicone tracheal T-tubes is described and discussed. This modification reduces the danger of apneic intervals during the procedure.

In our sphere of life the picture of tuberculosis has altered. Infections in children have become less severe and considerably rarer. The chronic tuberculosis of age is decreasing. The reasons for the change in the course of tuberculosis are to be found in an increasing power of resistance of the body produced by better social hygienic conditions, a better immunological defense and the institution of modern therapy. Tuberculosis should only be subdivided into primary and post-primary stages with the possibility of spreading through local progressiveness to lymphadenobronchogenic and hematogenic pathways.

[Mediastinal chondrosarcoma (author's transl)]

A 41 years old female patient was operated on account of mediastinal tumour. A chondrosarcoma of 10 X 8 X 8 cm was removed. The patient remained symptomfree and had no complaints over 4 years after the operation, but after this relapse and pulmonary metastasis developed. In connection with the demonstrated case the referring literature of mediastinal chondrosarcomas was surveyed and it could be established that this is the twentieth published case about mediastinal chondrosarcoma.
