Tentorial block of cerebrospinal fluid associated with a lumbar neurofibroma. Case report

✓ A case is reported in which raised intracranial pressure with papilledema due to hydrocephalus resulting from a subarachnoid block at the tentorial hiatus was associated with a lumbar intradural neurofibroma. The possible significance of elevated protein content in cerebrospinal fluid samples taken above and below the tumor is discussed.

Vertebral artery occlusion by a cervical 'hour-glass' neurofibroma

A case of total vertebral artery occlusion by a cervical `hour-glass' or `dumb-bell' neurofibroma is reported. To the author's knowledge this is the first reported case in the English literature. A causal relationship between the arterial occlusion and the patient's symptoms has been postulated. The angiographic study of these patients is further emphasized to enhance safer and more effectual removal of these lesions.

Massive haemorrhage in elephantiasis neurofibroma

An unusual case of elephantiasis neurofibroma associated with massice haemorrhage occurring in an elderly man is reported.

Syringomyelia in association with a neurofibroma of the filum terminale

A case of neurofibroma of the filum terminale associated with syringomyelia is described. The relationship of spinal cord tumours and syringomyelia is discussed and a possible mode of formation of the syrinx in the present case is suggested.
