Summary
Secondary (minor) antigens causing cross reactions have been found in:
Sh. ambigua, linking this species with type IX of Flexner;
Sh. alkalescens, linking this species with Flexner types I and IX;
Sh. dispar, type ceylonensis, linking this type with Flexner types X and XI.
The antigens causing cross reactions with type IX of Flexner are not present in all strains of Sh. ambigua nor in all strains of Sh. alkalescens.
