Ribosyl-cis-zeatin in a Leucyl Transfer RNA Species from Peas

tRNA(6) (Leu) in Pisum sativum seed has been purified. This tRNA species contains a cytokinin-active nucleoside and accounts for approximately 7% of the total cytokinin activity in acid hydrolysates of pea tRNA. The cytokinin has been identified as ribosyl-cis-zeatin, 6-(4-hydroxy-3-methyl-cis-2-butenylamino) -9-beta-d-ribofuranosylpurine.

Molecular constants of Group V hydrides by Green's function analysis

The evaluation of potential energy constants, mean amplitudes of vibration, rotational distortion constants, and Coriolis coupling constants for Group V hydrides was attempted by the method of Green's function analysis. It is shown that these molecular constants can be calculated without recourse to any specific force field. The values of these molecular constants obtained by this method are, in general, in very good agreement with those obtained by the usual normal coordinate analysis.

Synthesis of 5-methyl-8-hydroxy-1-tetralone

The tetralone 2a has been obtained in 45% overall conversion from the dione 3 by the sequence 3 → 4a → 4b → 5b → 5a → 2a.
