Abstract
Public health physician is one of the four statutory types of physicians in China, but there is no consensus on their connotation. The main problems are that public health physician is confused with those who perform public health tasks, the relationship between public health physician and clinician and the connotation of prescription right is not clear, and there is limitation in public health education and relevant laws and regulations. Public health physician is positioned as professionals who monitor, investigate, evaluate, and intervene in population health-related issues. It is suggested to retain the practicing qualification of public health physicians and highlight the attribute of public health physicians' prescribing the prescriptions for community health. Encourage public health physicians to obtain qualification for clinicians to individual prescription, Encourage clinicians to access to public health physician qualification. Improve public health school education, take the pilot of public health physician standardization training, cultivate "prevention and treatment combined" physician.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) is a potential biomarker for monitoring the status of heart failure. However, the optimal monitoring interval is unknown. This study aims to investigate minimal informative monitoring interval of NT-proBNP in patients with stable chronic heart failure.
Methods
In this retrospective open cohort study, adult patients followed up at a tertiary hospital for chronic heart failure with NT-proBNP measurements were included if they had been previously admitted due to acute heart failure and were free from readmission over 6 months after discharge. We analyzed NT-proBNP measured between 6 months after discharge and the timepoint of an alteration of medication regimen or readmission due to worsening of heart failure. To distinguish actual progression of the disease from biological variability and measurement error, the signal-to-noise ratio method was applied with a random-effects model. Stratified analysis was performed according to underlying risks.
Results
In this analysis, 368 patients were included with NT-proBNP measured between July 2009 and December 2017. The patients had 6.0 times of NT-proBNP measurements in median (interquartile range [IQR] 4.0–10.0) during the follow-up period (median 12.0 months [IQR 6.0–27.0]). In the estimates of the random-effects model, signal (i.e. actual progression of the disease) exceeded noise (i.e. biological variability and measurement error) at 8.1 months (95% confidence interval [CI]: 5.7–10.1) after the index measurement. In a subgroup analysis according to the AHEAD risk score, the minimal informative monitoring interval was shortened as the risk score increased (0–1 point: 12.3 months [95% CI: 10.3–14.5]; 2–3 points: 8.0 months [95% CI: 6.8–9.7]; 4–5 points: 3.3 months [95% CI: 3.0–3.8]; Figure).
Informative intervals stratified by risk
Conclusion
In patients with stable chronic heart failure, the overall minimal informative monitoring interval of NT-proBNP measurement was 8.1 months, which varies by underlying risk. The optimal monitoring interval could be lengthened especially for patients at lower risk.

Abstract
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is one of the most malignant tumors with poor prognosis, and the interaction between activated pancreatic stellate cells (PSCs) and PDAC cells plays an important role in the development of PDAC. The aim of this study was to identify gene changes in BXPC-3 after cross-talk with PSCs and reveal their potential mechanisms. The gene expression profiling analysis of BXPC-3 was completed after co-culture with primary PSCs for 48 h. The gene ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway (KEGG) enrichment analyses were performed, and the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified by Agilent GeneSpring GX software. In total, 3657 DEGs were identified in BXPC-3, including 1881 up-regulated genes and 1776 downregulated genes. GO analysis results showed that upregulated DEGs were significantly enriched in biological processes (BP), including peptide metabolic process, response to stress and electron transport chain; the downregulated DEGs were significantly enriched in biological processes, including signaling, multicellular organism development and anatomical structure development. KEGG pathway analysis revealed that 19 pathways were upregulated and 32 pathways were downregulated, and that upregulated DEGs were enriched in protein export and glutathione metabolism, while the downregulated DEGs were enriched in axon guidance and focal adhesion. The top 10 upregulated genes and the top 10 downregulated genes were identified. By constructing PPI network, we selected out 10 key genes (TP53, SRC, IL6, JUN, ISG15, CAD, STAT1, OAS3, OAS1, VIM) and significant pathways. The associated survival analysis was performed and the SRC, IL-6, ISG15, STAT1, OAS3, OAS1 and VIM were proved to be related to worse overall survival time of PDAC patients. In conclusion, the present study indicated that the identified DEGs promote our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying the interaction between pancreatic cancer cells and PSCs and might be used as molecular targets in the future to study the role of tumor microenvironment in the progression of PDAC.

Abstract
Psoriasis is an immune-mediated inflammatory skin disease that mainly affects the skin barrier. Treatment for psoriasis mainly includes conventional immunosuppressive drugs. However, long-term treatment with global immunosuppressive agents may cause a variety of side effects, including nephrotoxicity and infections. Kaempferol, a natural flavonol present in various plants, is known to possess potent anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and anti-cancerous properties. However, it is unknown whether kaempferol is also anti-psoriatic. Here we established an imiquimod (IMQ)-induced psoriatic mouse model to explore the potential therapeutic effects of kaempferol on psoriatic skin lesions and inflammation. In this study, we demonstrated that treatment with kaempferol protected mice from developing psoriasis-like skin lesions induced by topical administration of IMQ. Kaempferol reduced CD3+ T cell infiltration and gene expression of major proinflammatory cytokines, including interleukin (IL)-6, IL-17A and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, in the psoriatic skin lesion. It also down-regulated proinflammatory nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) signaling in the skin. The therapeutic effects were associated with a significant increase in CD4+ forkhead box protein 3 (FoxP3)+ regulatory T cell (Treg ) frequency in the spleen and lymph nodes as well as FoxP3-positive staining in the skin lesion. Conversely, depletion of CD4+ CD25+ Tregs reversed the therapeutic effects of kaempferol on the skin lesion. Kaempferol also lowered the percentage of IL-17A+ CD4+ T cells in the spleen and lymph nodes of IMQ-induced psoriatic mice. Finally, kaempferol suppressed the proliferation of T cells in vitro and their mTOR signaling. Thus, our findings suggest that kaempferol may be a therapeutic drug for treating human psoriasis in the near future.

Abstract
Dose-dense early postoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy (DD-EPIC) significantly increased non-progression rate in advanced ovarian cancer (OC) patients. We report final overall survival (OS) results to further strengthen the efficacy of DD-EPIC in the front-line therapy. In this phase 2 trial, 218 patients with FIGO IIIC–IV OC were randomly allocated to receive DD-EPIC followed by intravenous (IV) chemotherapy (DD-EPIC group), or IV chemotherapy alone (IV group). The study was prespecified to detect differences in progression-free survival (PFS) and OS. At a median follow-up period of 69.1 months, the median OS was 67.5 and 46.3 months in the DD-EPIC and IV group, respectively. The probability rate of OS at 5 years was 61.0% with DD-EPIC, and 38.2% with IV (hazard ratio [HR] for death from OC, 0.70; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.49–1.00). DD-EPIC was associated with a prolonged PFS compared with the IV group (the estimated rate of PFS at 5 years, 26.0% vs. 8.5%; HR for disease progression, 0.64; 95% CI, 0.47–0.86). DD-EPIC was associated with a longer OS than IV chemotherapy alone. It may be considered as a valuable option of the front-line therapy for advanced ovarian cancer. Trial registration: ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT01669226 (date of registration: August 20, 2012).

Abstract
Objective: To understand the internship of students majoring in preventive medicine in 6 colleges and universities in China, and provide reference suggestions for the improvement of internship arrangement. Methods: By using the method of combined clustering and convenient sampling, the fifth grades students majoring in preventive medicine in six universities in the eastern, central and western China were surveyed by using questionnaires to collect the information of their attitudes (to) and suggestions for clinical and public health internships. Results: A total of 596 students were surveyed. In terms of the benefits of clinical internship and public health internship, students who thought that the internship was fruitful accounted for >88%, and more students thought that reform is needed in clinical internship compared with public health internship. In clinical internship, the students through that the time arrangement was not appropriate enough (95, 39.58%), the content should be more detailed and in-depth (73, 30.42%) and the content did not conform to the professional direction (54, 22.50%). In public health internship, the students thought that the time arrangement was not appropriate (77, 45.56%), the content should be more detailed and standardized (65, 38.46%) and the types of internship bases should be more diversified (20, 11.83%). Conclusions: The undergraduates majoring in preventive medicine felt to be benefited from clinical practice and public health internships and thought they are of necessity. At the same time, there are still many problems which needs to be improved in the two types of internships. It is necessary to make joint efforts from students, teachers, colleges and practice bases to promote the continuous improvement of undergraduate internship.

Abstract
AIM To demonstrate the efficacy and safety of a modified technique of laparoscopic inguinal ligament suspension (LILS) with hysterectomy for the treatment of uterovaginal prolapse. METHODS A total of 57 patients were treated by LILS combined with hysterectomy between Jan 2014 and Feb 2016. The perioperative parameters, such as operative time, estimated blood loss, length of stay and intra- and postoperative complications were recorded. The Pelvic Organ Prolapse questionnaire classification was applied to evaluate the Pelvic Organ Prolapse stage, and Patient Global Impression of Improvement scale was used to determine the patients' satisfaction. Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory-20 and Pelvic Floor Impact Questionnaire were used to evaluate the functional improvement. All data were collected preoperatively and then at 12 months postoperatively. RESULTS The mean surgical time was 130.4 (82-190) min, the average blood loss was 50.4 (10-300) mL and the mean hospitalization was 5.3 (4-8) days. The rates of intra- and postoperative complications were low. After a minimal of 12 months follow-up, the anatomical success rate was 85.5%, and the subjective satisfaction rate was 92.7%. The functional measures also presented a significant improvement with no recurrence of prolapse. CONCLUSION LILS combined with hysterectomy was a safe and effective technique and might be considered as an alternative treatment for patients with uterovaginal prolapse.

Abstract
It is well known that as the king of cancer, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) has relatively malignant biological behavior and poor prognosis. The interaction between pancreatic stellate cells and PDAC cells promotes the development of PDAC. The aim of this study was to describe gene characteristics in pancreatic stellate cell (PSCs) after cross-talked with BXPC-3 and unravel their underlying mechanisms. The expression profiling analysis of genes in PSCs was completed after co-cultured with primary BXPC-3 for 48h. The Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway (KEGG) enrichment analysis and gene ontology (GO) analysis were performed, and the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified by Agilent GeneSpring GX program. In total, 1804 DEGs were filtered out in PSCs, including 958 up-regulated genes and 846 downregulated genes. GO analysis showed that the up-regulated DEGs were significantly enriched in biological processes (BP) such as defense response, immune system process and immune response; the down-regulated DEGs were significantly enriched in biological regulation and cytoskeleton organization. KEGG pathway analysis showed that 28 pathways were upregulated and 5 were downregulated. By constructing PPI network, we selected out 10 key genes (IL6,IL8, IL1B, BCL2, CCL2, CSF2, KIT, ICAM1, PTPRC and IGF1) and significant enriched pathways. In conclusion, the current study suggests that the filtered DEGs contribute to our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying the interaction between PSCs and pancreatic cancer cells, and might be used as molecular targets to further the study the role of tumor microenvironment in the progression of PDAC.

Abstract
5514 Background: Dose-dense early postoperative intraperitoneal chemo (DD-EPIC) had been carried out in advanced ovarian cancer (OC) pts in China over the past three decades but it was not proved by a prospective study. This trial was designed to confirm the benefit of DD-EPIC in delaying progression and improving survival. Methods: In a multicenter, phase 2 trial, pts with FIGO IIIC-IV OC and optimal debulking surgery (residual disease ≤1cm) were randomly allocated to receive 4 doses of weekly DD-EPIC with cisplatin (50mg/m2) and etoposide (100mg/m2) followed by 6 cycles of intravenous (iv) chemo with carboplatin and taxane every 3 weeks (DD-EPIC group), or standard iv chemo alone (iv group). (ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT01669226). Results: Between 2009 and 2015, 218 pts were randomized, of whom 215 initiated treatment (106 to DD-EPIC and 109 to iv; for efficacy analyses). Totally, 36 pts (16·7%) were received neoadjuvant chemo. With a median of 61·9 mos follow-up, 122 pts died (54 in DD-EPIC and 68 in iv group). Remarkable OS benefit of DD-EPIC was recorded (67·5 mos for DD-EPIC vs. 46·3 mos for iv; HR 0·70, 95% CI 0·49-1·00, P=0·047). Pts in DD-EPIC had a significantly increased median PFS compared with those in iv group (21·7 vs. 16·8 mos; HR 0·64, 95% CI 0·47-0·86, P=0·003). Median TFST was 25·1 vs. 18·0 mos in favor of DD-EPIC (HR 0·62, 95%CI 0·46-0·83, P=0·002). Similar findings were detected in TSST (42·2 vs. 29·3 mos; HR 0·66, 95%CI 0·47-0·94, P=0·019). Grade 3 and 4 Leucopenia (53·8% vs. 35·2%), anemia (23·6% vs. 5·6%) and gastrointestinal events (10·4% vs. 1·9%) were more common in DD-EPIC ( P=0·006, P<0·001 and P=0·010, respectively). Ninety-one pts were detected by gBRCA testing, with 25·3% of cases carrying deleterious BRCAm, but PFS and OS benefit were observed in patients with BRCA-wild type (HR 0·46 and 0·55, 95%CI 0·27-0·81 and 0·27-1·11, respectively). Conclusions: DD-EPIC with a higher completion rate and acceptable treatment burden was associated with longer OS than standard iv alone. Owing to the benefit of relatively long-term OS, DD-EPIC may be considered as a valuable option for OC, particularly in developing countries and BRCA-wild type pts. Abstract
The domestic rainbow trout producers issued a standard with an aquatic association that classified rainbow trout as salmon, which raised the concern of consumers on the fish parasites infection. Herein, an in situ method was developed using "iKnife" and rapid evaporative ionization mass spectrometry based lipidomics for real-time discrimination of salmon and rainbow trout without sample preparation. A total of 12 fatty acids and 37 phospholipid species was identified and imported into statistical analysis for building an in situ and real-time recognition model. The ions with | p(corr)| > 0.5 and | p| > 0.03 were shown to be responsible for allocating samples, and the ions with high correlation values, such as of m/ z 747.50, 771.49, and 863.55, indicated large weights in identification of the salmon and rainbow trout. The results indicated that this technology could be employed as a front-line test method to ensure the authenticity of salmon products.

Abstract
Huanglongbing (HLB) is a highly destructive citrus disease and is associated with a nonculturable bacterium, 'Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus'. 'Ca. L. asiaticus' in the United States was first found in Florida in 2005 and is now endemic there. In California, 'Ca. L. asiaticus' was first detected in Hacienda Heights in Los Angeles County in 2012 and has now been detected in multiple urban locations in southern California. Knowledge of 'Ca. L. asiaticus' strain diversity in California is important for HLB management. In this study, genomic diversity among 10 'Ca. L. asiaticus' strains from six California locations were analyzed using a next-generation sequencing (NGS) (Illumina MiSeq and HiSeq) approach. Draft genome sequences of 'Ca. L. asiaticus' strains were assembled. Sequences of the 16S ribosomal RNA gene and nrdB confirmed 'Ca. L. asiaticus' identity. Prophages were detected in all 'Ca. L. asiaticus' strains. The California 'Ca. L. asiaticus' strains formed four prophage typing groups (PTGs): PTG1, with type 1 prophage only (strains from Anaheim, San Gabriel, and Riverside); PTG2, with type 2 prophage only (strains from Hacienda Heights); PTG1-3, with both type 1 and 3 prophages (a strain from Cerritos); and PTG1-2, with both type 1 and type 2 prophages (a strain from La Habra). Analyses of the terL sequence showed that all California 'Ca. L. asiaticus' strains were not introduced from Florida but likely from locations in Asia. Miniature inverted-repeat transposable elements were found in all 'Ca. L. asiaticus' strains, yet, a jumping-out event was detected in the 'Ca. L. asiaticus' strain from Cerritos. Altogether, this study demonstrated that the NGS approach focusing on prophage variation was sensitive and effective in revealing diversity of 'Ca. L. asiaticus' strains in California.

Abstract
AIM The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of female pelvic floor dysfunction on sexual function and quality of life among different age groups. METHODS An observational study was carried out on 648 patients with pelvic organ prolapse (POP) or/and stress urinary incontinence. We assessed female sexual function and quality of life through the Prolapse/Urinary Incontinence Sexual Questionnaire Short Form and Incontinence Quality of Life Scale before surgeries, respectively. Patients were assigned into different age groups. RESULTS The mean age of all patients was 62.04 ± 9.39 years. A total of 436 patients had POP, 120 patients had stress urinary incontinence and the remaining patients had both. Although sexual frequency decreased with increasing age, 517 patients still remained sexually active. A total of 10.83% of the patients aged ≥70 years were still sexually active, and 8.51% of them had sex less than one time per month. The Prolapse/Urinary Incontinence Sexual Questionnaire Short Form score and sexual frequency decreased with increasing age. However, the Incontinence Quality of Life Scale score increased with increasing age. Patients with only POP and aged ≥70 years showed a higher Incontinence Quality of Life Scale score (P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS The present study showed that POP and stress urinary incontinence are common among older Chinese women, and re associated with decreased sexual satisfaction and quality of life in China. It suggests that the existing sexual requirement of these patients should also be reconsidered before surgical assessment. Doctors should take sexual satisfaction into consideration when choosing a personalized type of surgery to improve the patients' quality of life physiologically and psychologically. Abstract
Objective: To investigates the role of piwi-interacting RNAs (piRNA) in the occurrence and development of hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods: Second-generation small RNA sequencing was performed on cancer and paracancerous tissues, metastatic and non-metastatic liver cancer tissues of patients with liver cancer, and the sequencing data were filtered out for the common RNA sequences to be repeated. The piRNA predictor was used to forecast the possible new piRNA merged with the downloaded known piRNA to screen out distinction. A miRanda algorithm was used to predict the corresponding target genes and functional enrichment analysis. piRNA was selected for experimental functional (migration) analysis. An independent t-test was used to compare means between the two groups. Results: 66 772 piRNAs (known 149) were obtained by sequencing. 241 piRNAs were found in cancer and paracancerous tissues, and 1 634 piRNAs were found in metastatic and non-metastatic tumors. Analysis of the GO and KEGG pathways of the target genes of differential piRNAs revealed that they were mainly involved in cell adhesion. An experimental functional analysis was performed on the selected Pirna (PIR1/97), which showed that it promoted the migration of hepatoma cells (LM3: t = 8.829, P < 0.05; PLC: t = 7.318, P < 0.05). Conclusion: The expression levels of piRNA in hepatocellular carcinoma patients with cancer and paracancerous tissues, metastasis and non-metastatic liver cancer tissues are different and it could be entailed in the metastasis process of hepatocellular carcinoma. Hence, experimental functional analysis is required for research and experimental confirmation.

Abstract
Purpose: To determine whether the preoperative Ba and D point could help to guide the choice of surgical procedure for POP. Materials and Methods: This prospective cohort study included 250 subjects with anterior/apical defect from January 2012 to June 2015. All subjects underwent a complete preoperative evaluation and completed 12 months of follow-up. Based on the connection of preoperative Ba and D point of Pelvic Organ Prolapse Quantification (POP-Q), patients were assigned two groups: 137 patients who underwent anterior vaginal repair with mesh (AVM) and 113 patients who underwent AVM combined with sacrospinous ligament fixation (SSLF). The primary outcomes were anatomical cure and recurrence rate of both procedures. Secondary outcomes were prolapse symptom, quality of life and sexual function based upon validated questionnaires. The complications were also recorded in both groups. Results: Both groups were homogeneous preoperatively. The anatomical success rates for the anterior, apical and posterior vaginal compartments were 99.2%, 97.0% and 97.7% in the AVM group, respectively. For patients who underwent AVM-SSLF, the anatomical success rates for the anterior, apical and posterior compartments were 96.1%, 98.1% and 98.1%, respectively. The recurrence for both techniques was low. Both procedures presented a significant improvement with regard to postoperative quality of life (QOL), prolapse symptoms, and sexual function after 1-year follow-up. Conclusion: The preoperative Ba and D point correlated with surgical choice for the treatment of anterior/apical prolapse, which further decided the surgical outcomes for prolapse support.

Abstract
A rapid evaporative ionization mass spectrometry (REIMS) method was developed for lipidomics tracking of Ctenopharyngodon idellus during in vitro multiple-stage digestion. The REIMS conditions were optimized such that the temperature of the heating probe was 500 °C, sample amount was 30 mg, and the flow rate of auxiliary solvent was 100 μL min-1. The results showed that the phospholipids were detected with variety and quantity in the crude and multiple-stage digested samples. The enzymatic effect on the phospholipids is varied depending on the phospholipid classes, and the hydrolysis rate of phospholipids increased as the degree of unsaturation of the acyl chain increased. The principal component analysis (PCA) indicated that the ions at m/ z 809.61, 811.63, and 857.52 were the most noticeable species digested during the process. This method exhibited great potential in fast lipidomics profiling for inspecting the characteristics of nutritional lipid absorption digestion in human gastrointestin.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We assessed the efficacy of adding intraperitoneal (IP) chemotherapy to standard first-line intravenous (IV) chemotherapy in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) patients. METHODS Patients with stage IIIC-IV EOC who underwent optimal debulking surgery were randomly assigned to four cycles of weekly IP chemotherapy with cisplatin (50 mg/m2) and etoposide (100 mg/m2) followed by six cycles of IV chemotherapy every 3 weeks (IP/IV arm), or were administered IV chemotherapy alone (IV arm). The primary endpoint for this study was the 12-month non-progression rate (NPR). RESULTS Between 4/2009 and 9/2015, 218 patients were randomised, of whom 215 initiated treatment. In the IP/IV arm, 90.6% of patients completed 4 cycles of IP chemotherapy. The 12-month NPRs were 81.9% and 64.2% in the IP/IV and IV groups, respectively (HR 0.48 (95% CI 0.27-0.82)). The median progression-free survival (PFS) was increased in the IP/IV arm compared with that in the IV arm (22.4 vs. 16.8 months; HR 0.66 (0.48-0.91)) and in a subgroup with no gross cytoreduction (31.1 vs. 16.8 months; HR 0.46 (0.26-0.82)). Similar findings were detected with regard to time to first subsequent anticancer therapy (TFST) (25.9 vs. 18.0 months; P = 0.009) and time to second subsequent anticancer therapy (TSST) (40.8 vs. 30.1 months; P = 0.042). Grade 3/4 leukopenia, anaemia and gastrointestinal events were more common in the IP/IV arm, but the treatment burden was considered acceptable. CONCLUSIONS IP chemotherapy prior to IV chemotherapy was associated with an increased 12-month NPR and a longer TSST than IV alone in patients with EOC, albeit with acceptable toxic effects. Long-term follow-up is warranted to identify the effects of IP therapy on overall survival.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To introduce an alternative surgical technique of laparoscopic inguinal ligament suspension (LILS) with uterine preservation and evaluate its efficacy and safety for patients with severe pelvic organ prolapse (POP). METHODS Between June 2014 and December 2015, 35 patients with symptomatic stage III or IV were treated by LILS with uterine preservation. The perioperative parameters including surgical time, blood loss, hospital stay and complications were recorded. The anatomical cure rate was evaluated according to the Pelvic Organ Prolapse Questionnaire (POP-Q) assessment. The anatomical points were analyzed by dynamic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Validated questionnaire of the Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory (PFDI-20), the Pelvic Floor Impact Questionnaire (PFIQ-7) and the Pelvic organ prolapse urinary Incontinence Sexual Questionnaire (PISQ-12) were recorded to evaluate the symptom severity, quality of life and sexual activity. RESULTS The mean surgical time was 163.8 ± 42.3 min (range: 120-280 min), the mean estimated blood loss was 48.6 ± 60.5 ml (range: 10-200 ml), and the mean hospital stay was 5 days (range: 3-7 days). No intra-operative complications were encountered. The anatomical success rate at postoperative 6-month and 12-month was 97.1% and 94.3%, respectively. The postoperative anatomical points on straining showed a significant improvement on dynamic MRI as compared to baselines. The symptom severity, quality of life and sexual activity also presented significant improvement both 6-month and 12-month after surgery. After a minimal 12 months follow-up, no postoperative complications occurred and the recurrence prolapse were low. CONCLUSION LILS with uterine preservation is a feasible, effective and safe surgical alternative in the treatment of POP for patients who desire to reserve uterus. Longer follow-up data from larger studies are required to confirm the benefits of LILS with uterine preservation as a minimally invasive surgical approach.

Abstract
Background Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a common health problem. The lifetime risk of undergoing surgery for prolapse is 11%. POP significantly affects the effects on quality of life and activities of daily living. Laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy (LSC) has been viewed as the gold standard treatment for women with POP who desire reconstructive surgery. However, LSC is associated with technical difficulties, resulting in a long learning curve and operative time. Recently, our team introduced a new laparoscopic technique of inguinal ligament suspension (LILS) and had confirmed its safety and efficacy in treating vaginal vault prolapse. As a new surgical technique for POP, a prospective randomized controlled trial comparing the LILS with the standard technique of LSC is necessary. Therefore, we will conduct a trial. Methods The trial is a randomized controlled trial. It compares LILS with LSC in women with stage 2 or higher uterine prolapse. The primary outcomes of this study are perioperative parameters, including surgical time, blood loss, intraoperative complications, and hospital stay as well as surgical anatomical results using the pelvic organ prolapse questionnaire (POP-Q) classification at 6 weeks, 6 months, 12 months, and annually till 5 years after surgery. Secondary outcomes are subjective improvement in urogenital symptoms and quality of life, postoperative complications, postoperative recovery, sexual functioning, and cost-effectiveness at each follow-up point. Validated questionnaires will be used and the data will be analyzed according to the intention-to-treat principle. Based on an objective success rate of 90%, a noninferiority margin of 15%, and a dropout of 20%, 107 patients are needed in each arm to prove the hypothesis with a 95% confidence interval. Discussion The trial is a randomized controlled, multicenter, noninferiority trial that will provide evidence whether the efficacy and safety of LILS is noninferior to LSC in women with symptomatic stage 2 or higher uterine prolapse. Abstract
The aim of this study is to evaluate the reliability, validity, and acceptability of the Chinese version of the EORTC QLQ-OES18 in patients with esophageal cancer. The questionnaire was translated according to the guideline of the EORTC. One hundred and forty-nine patients with esophageal cancer from Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital completed the Karnofsky performance scale (KPS) and the simplified Chinese EORTC QLQ-C30/OES18 scales during July 2013 to January 2014. The results were statistically analyzed by Cronbach's α coefficient, Spearman correlation test with multiple strengthen analysis, and Wilcoxon Rank Sum test. The internal consistency (Cronbach's α coefficient) of all four scales (dysphagia, eating, reflux, and pain) was 0.689-0.822, which were satisfactory or near satisfactory. The absolute values of correlation of each scale between EORTC QLQ-OES18 and EORTC QLQ-C30 were 0.002-0.750 while there was no significant difference between groups divided by KPS scores. We confirmed the Chinese version of EORTC QLQ-OES18 appears to be a reliable, valid, and acceptable instrument for measuring the health-related quality of life of patients with esophageal cancer in mainland China.
