Abstract
A rational approach to the synthesis of substituted naphtho[1,8-ef]perimidines based on SNH methodology and cyclization reaction in the series of condensed azines with naphthalene substituents was presented. Photophysical properties of the obtained fluorophores were studied, in particular, green fluorescence in the 485–536 nm range with quantum yield up to 32.4% was detected. HOMO-LUMO energy values and distributions for the new compounds were calculated by the DFT method in comparison with nitroanalytes and perylene. Based on the data obtained, as well as on the results of fluorescence titration, the possibility of using the new diazaperylenes as potential chemosensors for the visual detection of nitro-containing explosives was shown.

Abstract
A rational synthetic approach to substituted naphtho[1,8-gh]quinolines using intramolecular cyclization in the presence of potassium in the series of (naphthalen-1-yl)isoquinolines is described. The photophysical properties of the obtained compounds were studied; in particular, fluorescence emission was detected in the range 454 - 482 nm with a quantum yield of up to 54%. We also calculated the HOMO-LUMO energies and optimized molecular structures for the resulting fluorophores. Based on the results of fluorescence titration, the Stern-Volmer constants (up to 21587 M-1) and the detection limits of nitroanalytes (up to 1.4 ppm) were calculated, confirming the possibility of their use as potential chemosensors for the visual detection of nitro-containing explosives.

Abstract
Selectively 15N-labeled tetrazolo[1,5-b][1,2,4]triazines and tetrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines bearing one, two, or three 15N labels were synthesized. The synthesized compounds were studied by 1H, 13C, and 15N NMR spectroscopy in DMSO and TFA solutions, where the azide-tetrazole equilibrium can lead to the formation of two tetrazole (T, T') isomers and one azide (A) isomer for each compound. Incorporation of the 15N-label(s) leads to the appearance of 15N-15N coupling constants (JNN), which can be easily measured via simple 1D 15N NMR spectra, even at natural abundance between labeled and unlabeled 15N atoms. The chemical shifts for the 15N nuclei in the azole moiety are very sensitive to the ring opening and azide formation, thus providing information about the azido-tetrazole equilibrium. At the same time, the 1-2JNN couplings between 15N-labeled atoms in the azole and azine fragments unambiguously determine the fusion type between tetrazole and azine rings in the cyclic isomers T and T'. Thus, combined analysis of 15N chemical shifts and JNN values in selectively isotope-enriched compounds provides an effective diagnostic tool for direct structural determination of tetrazole isomers and azide form in solution. This method was found to be the most simple and efficient way to study the azido-tetrazole equilibrium.

Abstract
The synthesis of inhibitors for oxidative stress-associated destructive processes based on 2H-imidazole-derived phenolic compounds affording the bifunctional 2H-imidazole-derived phenolic compounds in good-to-excellent yields was reported. In particular, a series of bifunctional organic molecules of the 5-aryl-2H-imidazole family of various architectures bearing both electron-donating and electron-withdrawing substituents in the aryl fragment along with the different arrangements of the hydroxy groups in the polyphenol moiety, namely derivatives of phloroglucinol, pyrogallol, hydroxyquinol, including previously unknown water-soluble molecules, were studied. The structural and antioxidant properties of these bifunctional 5-aryl-2H-imidazoles were comprehensively studied. The redox transformations of the synthesized compounds were carried out. The integrated approach based on single and mixed mechanisms of antioxidant action, namely the AOC, ARC, Folin, and DPPH assays, were applied to estimate antioxidant activities. The relationship “structure-antioxidant properties” was established for each of the antioxidant action mechanisms. The conjugation effect was shown to result in a decrease in the mobility of the hydrogen atom, thus complicating the process of electron transfer in nearly all cases. On the contrary, the conjugation in imidazolyl substituted phloroglucinols was found to enhance their activity through the hydrogen transfer mechanism. Imidazole-derived polyphenolic compounds bearing the most electron-withdrawing functionality, namely the nitro group, were established to possess the higher values for both antioxidant and antiradical capacities. It was demonstrated that in the case of phloroglucinol derivatives, the conjugation effect resulted in a significant increase in the antiradical capacity (ARC) for a whole family of the considered 2H-imidazole-derived phenolic compounds in comparison with the corresponding unsubstituted phenols. Particularly, conjugation of the polyphenolic subunit with 2,2-dimethyl-5-(4-nitrophenyl)-2H-imidazol-4-yl fragment was shown to increase ARC from 2.26 to 5.16 (104 mol-eq/L). This means that the considered family of compounds is capable of exhibiting an antioxidant activity via transferring a hydrogen atom, exceeding the activity of known natural polyphenolic compounds.

Abstract
The methodology of nucleophilic substitution of hydrogen (SNH) was successfully applied as a convenient synthetic tool to afford azaheterocyclic derivatives of phenols of various architectures. A series of 26 novel imidazole-linked polyphenolic compounds were first prepared in 72-95% yields through the direct metal-free C-H/C-H coupling of polyphenols with 2H-imidazole 1-oxides. Comprehensive studies on the reaction condition optimization, scope, and limitations enabled the development of a straightforward method toward novel bifunctional derivatives bearing both phenolic and imidazole scaffolds of particular interest in the design of challenging molecules for versatile applications in medicinal chemistry and materials science.

Abstract
AbstractA convenient method for the synthesis of new highly in non-polar solvents soluble photoactive pentafluorophenyl-substituted and extended alkoxyphenyl-substituted 2,2′-bipyridines is reported. The synthetic strategy for the preparation of such ligands involves a sequence of several structural transformations, such as O-alkylation, nucleophilic substitution of hydrogen (SN
H) in 1,2,4-triazine precursors via the ‘addition–elimination’ scheme, and the subsequent conversion of the obtained 1,2,4-triazines into 2,2′-bipyridines by means of the aza-Diels–Alder reaction. The photophysical properties of the synthesized novel pentafluoroaryl-substituted 2,2′-bipyridines were comprehensively studied. The obtained photophysical data indicate the competitive advantages of the herein reported pentafluoroarylated push–pull fluorophores, bearing extended aliphatic moieties, over their analogues containing benzoxy or phenolic fragments in terms of improvement in quantum yield and well-pronounced positive solvatochromism confirmed by the mathematical analysis according to the Lippert–Mataga equation.

Abstract
The reaction tolerance of the multicomponent process between 3-aminoazoles, 1-morpholino-2-nitroalkenes, and aldehydes was studied. The main patterns of this reaction have been established. Conditions for the oxidation of 4,7-dihydro-6-nitroazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines were selected. Previous claims that the 4,7-dihydro-6-nitroazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines could not be aromatised have now been refuted. Compounds with an electron-donor substituent at position seven undergo decomposition during oxidation. The phenomenon was explained based on experimental data, electro-chemical experiment, and quantum-chemical calculation. The mechanism of oxidative degradation has been proposed.

Abstract
One of the major causes of neurodegeneration in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease is the accumulation of cytotoxic amyloid species within the intercellular compartments of the brain. The efficacy of the anti-proteotoxic mechanism based on the molecular chaperones Hsp70 and Hsp90 in numerous types of neurons is often low, while its pharmacological enhancement has been shown to ameliorate the physiological and cognitive functions of the brain. Suggesting that the chemicals able to induce heat shock protein synthesis and therefore rescue neural cells from cytotoxicity associated with amyloid, we have synthesized a group of pyrrolyl- and indolylazines that cause the accumulation of heat shock proteins, using a novel method of photocatalysis that is employed in green chemistry. The selected compounds were tested in a cell model of Alzheimer's disease and demonstrated a pronounced neuroprotective effect. These substances increased the survival of neurons, blocked the activation of β-galactosidase, and prevented apoptosis in neurons cultured in the presence of β-amyloid.

Abstract
Isotope-labeled antiviral drug Triazavirin containing 2H, 13C, and 15N atoms in its structure has been synthesized. 13C2H3I and KS13CN served as donors of 13C isotopes. The use of 13С-MeI containing 2H atoms made it possible to additionally incorporate deuterium labels into the structure of the compound. The 15N atoms were incorporated using 15N-enriched sodium nitrite, aminoguanidine carbonate, and ethyl nitroacetate. The resulting 2H3,13C2,15N3-Triazavirin was characterized by NMR spectroscopy. In this article, the "1,2,4-triazine" methodology was successfully used for the synthesis of C6-thiophenol-substituted (2,2'-bi)pyridines as it is well known that thio-substituted (bi)pyridines and their aza-analogs are of wide practical interest. The photophysical properties of the obtained compounds are studied and compared with those reported earlier for 6-substituted 2,2'-bipyridines. The influence of the nature of substituents in the 6-arylthio(bi)pyridine core on the photophysical properties is discussed. It was observed that the new compounds exhibited promising photophysical properties and could be considered as potential push-pull fluorophores. In addition, they demonstrated greater Stokes shift values compared to the previously described 6-H, 6-arylamino and 6-pentafluoro-2,2'-bipyridines and higher fluorescence quantum yields values compare to pentafluorophenyl-substituted 2,2'-bipyridines. Depending on a nature of (bi)pyridine fluorophore LE (locally excited) and/or ICT (intramolecular charge transfer) state were prevailing in emission spectra.

Abstract
A possibility of using a complex approach is considered to explain features of biodestruction of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), which are known to be persistent organic pollutants. The approach comprises the following main stages: (i) chemical modification of chloroarenes by hydroxylation and (ii) bacterial degradation of the hydroxylated derivatives. This approach is applicable to individual trichlorobiphenyls (PCB 29, PCB 30) and to a widespread mixture Trikhlorbifenil (analog of Aroclor 1242 and Delor 103). As bacterial strain destructors, the Rhodococcus-strains (КТ112-7, СН628, P25) were used. It was established that the main metabolites of microbial biodegradation of both polychlorobiphenyls and their hydroxy derivatives are polychloro- and hydroxy(polychloro)benzoic acids, which allows an assumption to be made about possible further biodegradation of these compounds down to the products of the base exchange reaction in a cell: water, carbon dioxide and chlorine compounds. The study discusses the effect that the structure of PCBs congeners causes on the conversion by hydroxylation, on the biodegradation rate of both PCBs and their hydroxy derivatives, and on the metabolite formation levels.

Abstract
We studied the dynamics of the red blood cell composition of Wistar male rats at rest and when swimming with a load (4% body weight) before and after administration of a succinatecontaining preparation (meso-2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid). In rats receiving the succinatecontaining preparation, a decrease in the number of red blood cells and an increase in their volume and absolute and relative number of reticulocytes were observed at rest in comparison with vivarium control. In rats exposed to exhaustive swimming after preliminary administration of the test preparation (12 h before the test), we observed a decrease in hematocrit and erythrocyte diameter in comparison with the corresponding parameters in rats not treated with the preparation; the level of hemoglobin did not change. The pattern of changes in the cellular composition of red blood in rats at rest and during swimming against the background of treatment with the succinate-containing preparation in comparison with vivarium control is considered as a result of its effect on physical exercise under conditions of stabilization of hemoglobin and hematocrit levels, activation of proliferative activity of red bone marrow, and an increase in time of swimming to exhaustion by 2.8 times.
