Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors have transformed the therapeutic landscape in metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the objective response rate (ORR) remains limited in unselected population. Incorporating SBRT to PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors may improve treatment efficacy and the anti-tumor immunity induced by SBRT may be enhanced by GM-CSF, which plays a pivotal role in dendritic cell differentiation and maturation. The current trial (NCT04106180) is the first prospective, multicenter, phase II study assessing the safety and efficacy of a PD-1 inhibitor (Sintilimab), SBRT and GM-CSF in metastatic NSCLC patients without sensitizing driver mutations. MATERIALS/METHODS Metastatic EGFR/ALK negative NSCLC pts who had failed first-line standard chemotherapy were eligible. Pts received SBRT (8 Gy*3) to one lesion, followed by Sintilimab (200 mg d1, every 3 weeks) and GM-CSF (125 μg/m2 d1-d14, cycle 1) within 3 weeks after SBRT. Sintilimab would be given continuously until disease progression, unacceptable toxicity, or up to 35 cycles. Primary end point is ORR. Secondary end points are safety, out-of-field response rate, overall survival (OS), progression free survival (PFS). The trial was designed to enroll 56 patients and if ≥17 pts evaluated had an objective response, it was regarded as positive. RESULTS By the time of 2022/10/30, the trial was early closed after 18 of the 51pts enrolled from 6 academic centers documented PR. The majority of pts were male, ECOG 1 and non-squamous NSCLC, having more than 5 lesions at baseline, with a median age of 62 (range, 32-74). The sites of SBRT included lung (n = 20), regional lymph node (n = 16), pleural nodule (n = 5), vertebra (n = 3), distant lymph node (n = 3), liver (n = 2) and others (n = 2). Treatment-related adverse event (TRAE) occurred in most pts and grade 3 TRAE occurred in 6 (11.8%) pts. No grade 4-5 TRAE occurred and the most common grade 3 TRAEs were ALT/AST elevation (n = 2), transient acute heart failure (recovered within 7 days) (n = 1), leucopenia/neutropenia (n = 2), pneumonitis (n = 1) and creatinine elevation (n = 1). With a median follow-up of 19.2 (range, 4.6-35.4) months, 49 pts had evaluable efficacy, with 18 PR, 15 SD and 16 PD. Median PFS and OS were 5.9 (95% CI, 3.9-9.2) and 16.2 (95% CI, 12.6-34.1) months, respectively. The results of biomarker testing will also be presented. CONCLUSION Triple combination of Sintilimab, SBRT and GM-CSF is safe and shows promising efficacy in metastatic EGFR/ALK negative NSCLC.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Limited stage small-cell lung cancer (LS-SCLC) is associated with poor prognosis. We aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of high-dose, hyperfractionated thoracic radiotherapy of 54 Gy in 30 fractions compared with standard dose (45 Gy in 30 fractions) as a first-line treatment for LS-SCLC. MATERIALS/METHODS The study was an open-label, randomized, phase 3 trial, done at 16 public hospitals in China. Key inclusion criteria were patients aged 18-70 years, with previously histologically or cytologically confirmed LS-SCLC, previously untreated or received 1-2 courses of intravenous cisplatin (75 mg/m²of body-surface area, on day 1 or divided into two days of each cycle) or carboplatin (area under the curve of 5 mg/mL per min, day 1 of each cycle)and intravenous etoposide (100 mg/m²of body-surface area, on days 1-3 of each cycle), and an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status of 0-1.Eligible patients were randomly assigned (1:1) to receive volumetric-modulated arc radiotherapy (VMAT) of 45 Gy in 30 fractions or the simultaneous integrated boost VMAT (SIB-VMAT) of 54 Gy in 30 fractions to the primary lung tumor and lymph node metastases starting 0-42 days after the first chemotherapy course. Both groups of patients received thoracic radiotherapy twice per day and 10 fractions per week. Prophylactic cranial radiation (PCI, 25 Gy in 10 fractions) was implemented to patients with responsive disease. The primary endpoint was overall survival. Safety was analyzed in the as-treated population. RESULTS Between June 30, 2017, and April 6, 2021, 224 eligible patients were enrolled and randomly assigned to 54 Gy (n = 108) or 45 Gy (n = 116). Median follow-up for the primary analysis was 45 months (IQR 41-48). Median overall survival was significantly improved in the 54 Gy group (62.4 months) compared with the 45 Gy group (43.1 months; p = 0.001). Median progression-free survival was significantly improved in the 54 Gy group (30.5 months) compared with the 45 Gy group (16.7 months; p = 0.044). The most common grade 3-4 adverse events were neutropenia (30 [28%] of 108 patients in the 54 Gy group vs 27 [23%] of 116 patients in the 45 Gy group), neutropenic infections (6 [6%] vs 2 [2%]), thrombocytopenia (13 [12%] vs 12 [10%]), anemia (6 [6%] vs 4 [3%]), and esophagitis (1 [1%] vs 3 [3%]). Treatment-related serious adverse events occurred in 9 [8%] patients in the 54 Gy group and 16 [14%] patients in the 45 Gy group. There were one treatment-related deaths in 54 Gy group (myocardial infarction). CONCLUSION Compared with standard thoracic radiotherapy dose of 45 Gy, the high dose of 54 Gy improved overall survival and progression-free survival without increasing toxicities in patients with LS-SCLC, supporting twice-daily hyperfractionated thoracic radiotherapy of 54 Gy with concurrent chemotherapy is an alternative treatment option for LS-SCLC. This study is complete and registered with ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT03214003.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) The study aims to use deep learning to improve the accuracy of identifying esophageal tumors on CT slices for radiotherapy planning. The identification of Gross Tumor Volume (GTV) can be challenging due to low contrast with surrounding tissue. Other methods like endoscopy and PET scan can provide additional information, but may not be suitable for radiotherapy due to differences in tissue density and alignment needs. MATERIALS/METHODS A multi-task deep learning network was developed, which perform both segmentation and slice classification, simultaneously. For segmentation, the normal esophagus and tumor were treated as a single structure due to the difficulty in distinguishing between them on CT images. The slices were divided into 3 categories, including tumor, normal esophageal and other. An Unet was used for segmentation and generate the mask to remove irrelevant areas. The masked image will be input into a Resnet to obtain the categories of slices. The performance of classification was accessed by ROC curve, AUC and confusion matrix on a new dataset and PET images. RESULTS The multi-task deep learning network was developed on a dataset of 315 patients' CT images and GTV segmentations, which were reviewed and verified by physicians. The model was then evaluated on an additional validation dataset of 30 patients, resulting in an accuracy of 88%. In terms of sensitivity and specificity, the model showed high performance, with a sensitivity of 97% and specificity of 95% for tumor and normal esophagus in the validation dataset. Meanwhile, the specificity was 85% and the specificity was 80% for tumor and normal esophagus in PET images dataset. CONCLUSION This multi-task deep learning approach effectively combines the benefits of both segmentation and classification techniques, resulting in improved accuracy and efficiency in identifying esophageal tumors on CT slices for radiotherapy planning.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) A new radioactive positron emission tomography (PET) tracer uses inhibitors of fibroblast activation protein (FAPI) to visualize FAP-expressing cancer associated fibroblasts. Significant FAPI-uptake has recently been demonstrated in biliary tract cancer (BTC) patients. Target volume delineation for radiation therapy still relies on often less precise conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) registered with computed tomography (CT) imaging, especially in locally advanced BTC patients. The need for improvement in precise tumor detection and delineation led us to innovatively use the novel FAPI-PET/CT for radiation treatment planning. MATERIALS/METHODS Gross tumor volumes (GTVs) of five locally advanced BTC cases were contoured under FAPI-PET/CT method. MRI/CT was used to delineate tumors additionally. The differentiation in target definition was analyzed between FAPI-PET/CT-based GTVs and the manually MRI/CT-based GTVs. RESULTS Target definition differed significantly between different imaging methods with mean dice similarity coefficients of 0.5527, mean Jaccard similarity coefficients of 0.4296 and mean volumetric overlap difference of 0.5704, while the mean volumes and standard deviations of GTVs were 18.12±15.10 cm3 and 38.44±24.72 cm3, based on FAPI-PET/CT and MRI/CT respectively (P = 0.102). There was a discordance and difference between the volumes of FAPI-GTVs-based GTVs and the manually contoured GTVs based on MRI/CT. CONCLUSION Due to its high tumor to background contrast, FAPI-PET/CT seems to be a superior imaging modality compared to the current gold standard MRI/CT in BTC. For the first time, we demonstrate how FAPI-PET/CT could facilitate target definition and increases accuracy in radiation oncology in BTC. Limited to the sample size, we still need more large-scale data to support this view.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Hypofractionated stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) has been increasingly used for brain metastases (BMs) from non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the prognostic factors, pattern of failure and clinical utility of re-irradiation for these patients remain have not been fully understood. MATERIALS/METHODS Metastatic NSCLC patients receiving SRT that covering all of the intracranial tumor lesions and without prior whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT) were retrospectively enrolled. Local recurrence free survival (LRFS), intracranial progression free survival (iPFS) and overall survival (OS) were calculated from the initiation of SRT. Post intracranial progression survival (OS2) was measured from the initial intracranial disease progression. RESULTS From 2018/05 to 2022/05, 218 patients were identified, with 142 (65.1%) having only one BM and 76 (34.9%) harboring 2-5 BMs. With a median follow-up of 31.1 (range, 1.0-44.6) months, median LRFS, iPFS and OS was 39.1, 26.6 and 31.1 months, respectively. No statistical difference of LRFS, iPFS and OS were found between patients with different numbers of BM. Nevertheless, patients receiving concurrent systemic therapy had significantly longer LRFS (HR = 0.35, p = 0.002), iPFS (HR = 0.57, p = 0.044) and OS (HR = 0.37, p = 0.001), when compared with those receiving SRT alone. By now, intracranial disease progression (iPD) was documented in 59 patients, with original site PD (OPD), new site PD (NPD) and both sites PD (BPD) occurring in 20 (33.9%), 17 (28.8%) and 22 (37.3%), respectively. Among the 59 patients, 19 (32.2%) received second-course SRT (re-SRT) targeting the intracranial progressive tumor lesions and re-SRT led to improved OS2 (22.7 vs 12.1 months, HR = 0.29, 95% CI 0.08-0.97, p = 0.045), which remained as an independent prognostic factor after multiple-variate Cox analyses. CONCLUSION The status of systemic therapy, but not the number of BMs, may impact the survival outcomes of SRT-treated BMs from NSCLC. Some patients may benefit from re-SRT, which warranted future validation.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) We investigated whether uptake of 18F-AlF-NOTA-FAPI-04 on positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) could predict treatment response and survival in patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD). MATERIALS/METHODS We prospectively evaluated 47 patients with histopathologically confirmed primary PAAD and pretreatment 18F-FAPI PET/CT scans to determine uptake of fibroblast activation protein (FAP) and compare the findings with those from blood tests and immunohistochemically stained tumor specimens. Cox regression and Kaplan-Meier methods were used to assess relationships between disease progression and potential predictors. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to define the optimal cutoff points for distinguishing patients according to good response vs poor response per RECIST v. 1.1. RESULTS The FAPI PET variables maximum and mean standardized uptake values (SUVmax, SUVmean); metabolic tumor volume (MTV); and total lesion FAP expression (TLF) were positively correlated with cancer-associated fibroblast (CAF) markers (FAP, α-smooth muscle actin, vimentin, S100A4, and platelet-derived growth factor receptor α/β, all P<0.05). MTV and Log2TLF were associated with survival in patients with inoperable PAAD (all P<0.05). Analyses controlling for sex, age, cTNM, and performance status showed that MTV and Log2TLF were associated with overall survival (MTV hazard ratio [HR] = 1.016, P = 0.016 and Log2TLF HR = 4.093, P = 0.003). ROC cutoff analysis indicated that elevated MTV and TLF were associated with poorer survival. Greater changes from before to after chemotherapy in SUVmax, MTV, and TLF were associated with good treatment response (all P<0.05). ΔMTV, ΔTLF and ΔSUVmax had larger areas under the curve than ΔCA19-9 for predicting treatment response. Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that the extent of change in MTV and TLF from before to after treatment predicted progression-free survival, with cutoff values (based on medians) of -4.95 for ΔMTV (HR = 8.09, P = 0.013) and -77.83 for ΔTLF (HR = 4.62, P = 0.012). CONCLUSION Higher baseline MTV on 18F-FAPI-04 PET/CT scans was associated with poorer survival in patients with inoperable PAAD. ΔMTV was more sensitive for predicting response than ΔCA19-9. These results are clinically meaningful for identifying patients with PAAD who are at high risk of disease progression.

Abstract
Deep learning (DL) methods further promote the development of quantitative structure-activity/property relationship (QSAR/QSPR) models by dealing with complex relationships between data. An acetylcholinesterase inhibitory toxicity model of ionic liquids (ILs) was established using a convolution neural network (CNN) combined with support vector machine (SVM), random forest (RF) and multilayer perceptron (MLP). A CNN model was proposed for feature self-learning and extraction of ILs. By comparing with the model results through feature engineering (FE), the model regression results based on the CNN model for feature extraction have been substantially improved. The results showed that all six models (FE-SVM, FE-RF, FE-MLP, CNN-SVM, CNN-RF, and CNN-MLP) had good prediction accuracy, but the results based on the CNN model were better. The hyperparameters of six models were optimized by grid search and the 10-fold cross validation. Compared with the existing models in the literature, the model performance has been further improved. The model could be used as an intelligent tool to guide the design or screening of low-toxicity ILs.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) mutations confer gain-of-function activity by converting α-ketoglutarate (α-KG) to the oncometabolite D-2-hydroxyglutarate (D-2HG). IDH mutant tumors have fewer tumor-infiltrating CD8+ T cells and reduced PD-L1 expression compared with their wild type (WT) counterparts. In addition, 2-HG can directly inhibit the killing and proliferative functions of CD8+ T lymphocytes, and suggesting that 2-HG promotes an immunosuppressive TME. Several studies have shown that 2-HG can inhibit homologous recombination (HR) and weaken the DNA damage response (DDR), making them more sensitive to poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors and radiotherapy (RT). At the same time, RT and PARP inhibition (PARPi) have been considered to be a new direction to stimulate antitumor immunity. Therefore, our study intends to use RT + PARPi to reverse the immunosuppressive microenvironment caused by IDH1 mutations, thereby promoting the therapeutic effect of immune checkpoint inhibitors. MATERIALS/METHODS We compared the immune responses of clinical tissue samples and TCGA data from either IDH1mut or IDH1WT low-grade gliomas. We then established IDH1mut-overexpressing MC38 and GL261 cell lines to determine the antitumor effect of RT + PARPi. Apoptosis and immunogenic death markers were detected by flow cytometry, western blot (WB) and ELISA in these cell lines. Tumor growth and mouse survival curves were observed in both an MC38 subcutaneous and GL261 orthotopic tumor model. Changes in the composition of the immune microenvironment were assessed using flow cytometry. The mechanisms underpinning these compositional shifts were then further interrogated using various techniques, including WB, immunofluorescence, qRT-PCR, CRISPR/Cas9, and CD8+ T cell migration experiments. RESULTS We observed that CD8+ T cell infiltration and expression of the chemokines CXCL10 and CCL5 of CD8+ T cells in IDH1mut tumors were significantly downregulated by immunohistochemistry and TCGA analysis. Gene enrichment analysis using the TCGA database found that IDH1 mutations downregulated interferon (IFN)-related signaling pathways. RT + PARPi induces more DNA damage and actives the CGAS-STING pathway compared with monotherapy, leading to more expression of IFN-β, CXCL10 and CCL5 at mRNA and protein level. In the MC38 subcutaneous tumor model, we found that RT + PARPi increased the infiltration of CD8+ T cells while enhancing the killing function of CD8+ T cells. We observed these same effects in the GL261 orthoma model, as well as increased proliferation function of CD8+ T cells. In addition, RT + PARPi increased the expression of PD-L1 and enhanced the therapeutic effect of immune checkpoint inhibitors. CONCLUSION RT + PARPi reshapes the IDH1mut tumor immune suppression microenvironment, thereby potentiating the antitumor effect and efficiency of immune checkpoint inhibitor.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Growing numbers of clinical trials are testing the efficacy of incorporating local therapy into programmed death receptor (ligand) 1 (PD-1/PD-L1) inhibitors in metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), but the optimal timing and patient selection are still controversial. We aimed to examine the patterns of maximum tumor response and treatment failure in PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitor-treated NSCLC, and explore the potential clinical value of local consolidative therapy (LCT) in those with oligo-residual disease (ORD). MATERIALS/METHODS Metastatic NSCLC treated with PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors in three academic centers from May 2018 to December 2021 were retrospectively reviewed and those derived clinical benefit, defined as having objective response or durable stable disease lasting≥6months, were finally enrolled. Patterns of tumor response and treatment failure were extensively analyzed. ORD was defined as residual tumor distribution limited to 3 organs and 5 lesions, otherwise was defined as multiple residual disease (MRD). Local therapies targeting the residual tumor lesions performed after PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors initiation and before initial disease progression, were considered as LCT. The primary endpoints were the overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). RESULTS Of the 318 patients enrolled, ORD and MRD were documented in 122 (38.4%) and 196 (61.6%) patients, respectively. Those who developed ORD had a significantly longer OS than those with MRD (p = 0.006). The median time to best response was 4 months and more than 50% of the initial disease progression developed only from the residual tumor lesions, providing the preliminary rationale of LCT. Among the 122 patients with ORD, those receiving LCT (n = 39) had significantly longer PFS (p = 0.04) and OS (p<0.001) than those without LCT. Moreover, LCT remained one of the independent predictors of improved PFS and OS after Cox analyses. CONCLUSION Local consolidative therapy seems to be feasible and may provide extra survival benefit for metastatic NSCLC patients with oligo-residual disease after PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitor treatment.

Abstract
Two new excited states, Ω_{c}(3185)^{0} and Ω_{c}(3327)^{0}, are observed in the Ξ_{c}^{+}K^{-} invariant-mass spectrum using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}. Five previously observed excited Ω_{c}^{0} states are confirmed, namely Ω_{c}(3000)^{0}, Ω_{c}(3050)^{0}, Ω_{c}(3065)^{0}, Ω_{c}(3090)^{0}, and Ω_{c}(3119)^{0}. The masses and widths of these seven states are measured with the highest precision to date.

Evidence of a J/ψK_{S}^{0} Structure in B^{0}→J/ψϕK_{S}^{0} Decays. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 131:131901. [PMID: 37832008 DOI: 10.1103/physrevlett.131.131901] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 01/17/2023] [Accepted: 03/21/2023] [Indexed: 10/15/2023]
Abstract
An amplitude analysis of B^{0}→J/ψϕK_{S}^{0} decays is performed using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}, collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. Evidence with a significance of 4.0 standard deviations of a structure in the J/ψK_{S}^{0} system, named T_{ψs1}^{θ}(4000)^{0}, is seen, with its mass and width measured to be 3991_{-10}^{+12} _{-17}^{+9} MeV/c^{2} and 105_{-25}^{+29} _{-23}^{+17} MeV, respectively, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The T_{ψs1}^{θ}(4000)^{0} state is likely to be the isospin partner of the T_{ψs1}^{θ}(4000)^{+} state, previously observed in the J/ψK^{+} system of the B^{+}→J/ψϕK^{+} decay. When isospin symmetry for the charged and neutral T_{ψs1}^{θ}(4000) states is assumed, the signal significance increases to 5.4 standard deviations.

Measurement of the Ratios of Branching Fractions R(D^{*}) and R(D^{0}). PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 131:111802. [PMID: 37774262 DOI: 10.1103/physrevlett.131.111802] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 02/09/2023] [Revised: 04/18/2023] [Accepted: 06/29/2023] [Indexed: 10/01/2023]
Abstract
The ratios of branching fractions R(D^{*})≡B(B[over ¯]→D^{*}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ})/B(B[over ¯]→D^{*}μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}) and R(D^{0})≡B(B^{-}→D^{0}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ})/B(B^{-}→D^{0}μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}) are measured, assuming isospin symmetry, using a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to 3.0 fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity recorded by the LHCb experiment during 2011 and 2012. The tau lepton is identified in the decay mode τ^{-}→μ^{-}ν_{τ}ν[over ¯]_{μ}. The measured values are R(D^{*})=0.281±0.018±0.024 and R(D^{0})=0.441±0.060±0.066, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The correlation between these measurements is ρ=-0.43. The results are consistent with the current average of these quantities and are at a combined 1.9 standard deviations from the predictions based on lepton flavor universality in the standard model.

Measurement of the Prompt D^{0} Nuclear Modification Factor in p-Pb Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=8.16 TeV. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 131:102301. Abstract
The production of prompt D^{0} mesons in proton-lead collisions in both the forward and backward rapidity regions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of sqrt[s_{NN}]=8.16 TeV is measured by the LHCb experiment. The nuclear modification factor of prompt D^{0} mesons is determined as a function of the transverse momentum p_{T}, and the rapidity in the nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass frame y^{*}. In the forward rapidity region, significantly suppressed production with respect to pp collisions is measured, which provides significant constraints on models of nuclear parton distributions and hadron production down to the very low Bjorken-x region of ∼10^{-5}. In the backward rapidity region, a suppression with a significance of 2.0-3.8 standard deviations compared to parton distribution functions in a nuclear environment expectations is found in the kinematic region of p_{T}>6 GeV/c and -3.25

Measurement of the Time-Integrated CP Asymmetry in D^{0}→K^{-}K^{+} Decays. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 131:091802. [PMID: 37721849 DOI: 10.1103/physrevlett.131.091802] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 09/09/2022] [Accepted: 11/17/2022] [Indexed: 09/20/2023]
Abstract
The time-integrated CP asymmetry in the Cabibbo-suppressed decay D^{0}→K^{-}K^{+} is measured using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.7 fb^{-1} collected at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV with the LHCb detector. The D^{0} mesons are required to originate from promptly produced D^{*+}→D^{0}π^{+} decays, and the charge of the companion pion is used to determine the flavor of the charm meson at production. The time-integrated CP asymmetry is measured to be A_{CP}(K^{-}K^{+})=[6.8±5.4±1.6]×10^{-4} where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The direct CP asymmetries in D^{0}→K^{-}K^{+} and D^{0}→π^{-}π^{+} decays, a_{K^{-}K^{+}}^{d} and a_{π^{-}π^{+}}^{d}, are derived by combining A_{CP}(K^{-}K^{+}) with the time-integrated CP asymmetry difference, ΔA_{CP}=A_{CP}(K^{-}K^{+})-A_{CP}(π^{-}π^{+}), and other inputs, giving a_{K^{-}K^{+}}^{d}=(7.7±5.7)×10^{-4},a_{π^{-}π^{+}}^{d}=(23.2±6.1)×10^{-4},with a correlation coefficient corresponding to ρ=0.88. The compatibility of these results with CP symmetry is 1.4 and 3.8 standard deviations for D^{0}→K^{-}K^{+} and D^{0}→π^{-}π^{+} decays, respectively. This is the first evidence for direct CP violation in a specific D^{0} decay.

ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY 2023; 44:3491-3503. [PMID: 35437123 DOI: 10.1080/09593330.2022.2064236] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 11/26/2021] [Accepted: 03/27/2022] [Indexed: 06/14/2023]
Abstract
Iron (II) phthalocyanine (FePc) is loaded on the surface of the tourmaline (TM) by the reflow method to obtain FePc/TM. This research effectively prevents the π-π stacking of FePc, increased the effective utilization rate of PMS activation under solar light, and further improved the catalytic performance of the catalytic system. The catalytic oxidation efficiency of FePc/TM on carbamazepine (CBZ) and sulfadiazine (SD) can reach 99% under solar light for 15 and 5 min, the total organic carbon (TOC) removal rate can reach 58% and 69% under solar light for 120 min. After 6 cycles, the CBZ removal rate remained above 95%. In addition, the FePc/TM catalytic system has an excellent removal rate for other pharmaceuticals. The results of spin-trapped electron paramagnetic resonance and classical quenching experiments show that FePc/TM can effectively activate PMS to generate active species under solar light, including superoxide radical (•O2-), singlet oxygen (1O2), hydroxyl radicals(•OH), and sulphate radicals (SO4•-). The intermediates of CBZ were identified by Ultra-high performance liquid chromatography and high resolution mass spectrometry, and the degradation pathway was proposed. As the reaction progresses, all CBZ and intermediates are reduced and converted into small acids, or mineralized to H2O, CO2. This work provides an alternative method for the design of efficient activation of PMS activation catalysts under solar light to eliminate residual pharmaceuticals in actual water bodies.

Zhu Z, Hu C, Liu Y, Wang F, Zhu B. Inulin has a beneficial effect by modulating the intestinal microbiome in a BALB/c mouse model. Benef Microbes 2023; 14:371-383. Abstract
Food allergy is an important health problem that affects human quality of life and socioeconomic development, and its treatment requires improvement. Intestinal flora dysbiosis is closely associated with food allergies. A sensitised mouse model was established by the intraperitoneal injection of ovalbumin (OVA). The mice were randomly divided into four groups: control, model, high-dose (H), and low-dose (L) inulin. The mice were administered water containing different concentrations of inulin four weeks before the OVA injection. Body weight changes were monitored. After the last OVA injection, the mice were scored for allergic reactions. The levels of total immunoglobulin E (IgE) and diamine oxidase (DAO) in the serum and secretory IgA (sIgA) in the small intestinal mucus were measured, and 16S rRNA sequencing of the faecal flora was performed to evaluate microbial parameters. The intestinal flora biomarkers, correlations between them, and biochemical indicators were analysed. Inulin treatment had no effect on the body weight of OVA-sensitised mice but attenuated allergic reactions and intestinal injury in mice. Compared with the control group, the model group had significantly higher levels of serum DAO and IgE and significantly lower levels of intestinal mucus IgA. IgA levels in the intestinal mucus of mice treated with inulin prior to OVA sensitisation were higher than those in non-inulin-treated OVA-sensitised mice. Furthermore, analysis of operational taxonomic units showed that inulin treatment decreased the abundance of Alloprevotella, Rikenellaceae RC9, Eubacterium siraeum, and Eubacterium xylanophilum, and increased the abundance of Blautia and Lachnospiraceae. Serum DAO levels were positively associated with Eubacterium siraeum, Alloprevotella, Eubacterium xylanophilum, and Odoribacter and negatively associated with Blautia, Tyzzerella, Alistipes, Desulfovibrionaceae, and Ruminococcaceae UCG005. In addition, IgE levels were positively associated with Eubacterium siraeum, Alloprevotella, Eubacterium xylanophilum, Odoribacter, and Citrobacter and negatively associated with Blautia, unclassified Ruminococcaceae, and Alistipes. IgA exhibited significant positive correlation with Blautia, norank_f_Eubacterium coprostanoligenes, Alistipes, norank Desulfovibrionaceae, Muribaculum, and Ruminococcaceae U C G 005 and significant negative correlation with Eubacterim siraeum, Eubacterium xylanophilum, Odoribacter, and Citrobacter. Inulin exerts a protective effect against food allergies in mice, which is partially mediated by alterations in the gut microbiota.

Measurement of the Branching Fractions B(B^{0}→pp[over ¯]pp[over ¯]) and B(B_{s}^{0}→pp[over ¯]pp[over ¯]). PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 131:091901. Abstract
Searches for the rare hadronic decays B^{0}→pp[over ¯]pp[over ¯] and B_{s}^{0}→pp[over ¯]pp[over ¯] are performed using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}. Significances of 9.3σ and 4.0σ, including statistical and systematic uncertainties, are obtained for the B^{0}→pp[over ¯]pp[over ¯] and B_{s}^{0}→pp[over ¯]pp[over ¯] signals, respectively. The branching fractions are measured relative to the topologically similar normalization decays B^{0}→J/ψ(→pp[over ¯])K^{*0}(→K^{+}π^{-}) and B_{s}^{0}→J/ψ(→pp[over ¯])ϕ(→K^{+}K^{-}). The branching fractions are measured to be B(B^{0}→pp[over ¯]pp[over ¯])=(2.2±0.4±0.1±0.1)×10^{-8} and B(B_{s}^{0}→pp[over ¯]pp[over ¯])=(2.3±1.0±0.2±0.1)×10^{-8}. In these measurements, the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third one is due to the external branching fraction of the normalization channel.

Observation of a Resonant Structure near the D_{s}^{+}D_{s}^{-} Threshold in the B^{+}→D_{s}^{+}D_{s}^{-}K^{+} Decay. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 131:071901. Abstract
An amplitude analysis of the B^{+}→D_{s}^{+}D_{s}^{-}K^{+} decay is carried out to study for the first time its intermediate resonant contributions, using proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. A near-threshold peaking structure, referred to as X(3960), is observed in the D_{s}^{+}D_{s}^{-} invariant-mass spectrum with significance greater than 12 standard deviations. The mass, width, and the quantum numbers of the structure are measured to be 3956±5±10 MeV, 43±13±8 MeV, and J^{PC}=0^{++}, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The properties of the new structure are consistent with recent theoretical predictions for a state composed of cc[over ¯]ss[over ¯] quarks. Evidence for an additional structure is found around 4140 MeV in the D_{s}^{+}D_{s}^{-} invariant mass, which might be caused either by a new resonance with the 0^{++} assignment or by a J/ψϕ↔D_{s}^{+}D_{s}^{-} coupled-channel effect.

Shang Z, Zhu Z, Wang G, Lu W, Wu B, Li Q. Pyridine-bridged cobalt tetra-aminophthalocyanine to active peroxymonosulphate for efficient degrading carbamazepine. ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY 2023:1-13. [PMID: 37559566 DOI: 10.1080/09593330.2023.2245541] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 12/15/2022] [Accepted: 04/11/2023] [Indexed: 08/11/2023]
Abstract
In this study, each cobalt tetra-aminophthalocyanine (CoTAPc) molecule was immobilised with four isonicotinic acid (INA) molecules by amide bonding, a novel and highly efficient catalyst pyridine-bridged cobalt tetra-aminophthalocyanine (CoTAPc-TINA) was synthesised. The introduction of INA molecules promoted CoTAPc to expose more active sites, and increased the electron cloud density of cobalt ions promoting O-O bond homolysis of PMS to generate more active species, which significantly enhanced catalytic activity. With the pharmaceutical of carbamazepine (CBZ) as model pollutant, 0.1 g/L CoTAPc-TINA in dark in the presence of 0.4 mM PMS, 98.8% CBZ was removed within 10 min. However, under the same conditions the removed of CBZ was only 58.9% by CoTAPc/PMS system. Radical capture experiments combined electron paramagnetic resonance technology demonstrate that hydroxyl radicals, sulphate radicals, superoxide radicals and singlet oxygen are the main active species in the CoTAPc-TINA/PMS system. As the reaction proceeded, all aromatic intermediates were transformed to small molecular acids by these active species. This investigation provided a new insight for application of metal phthalocyanine in wastewater treatment.

Abstract
Objective: To understand the genotype distribution and transmission pattern of rubella virus (RuV) circulating in Yunnan Province. Methods: Throat swab samples were collected from rubella outbreaks and sporadic cases in nine prefectures/cities of Yunnan Province from 2011 to 2021. Virus isolation, amplification of target genes and sequence determination were performed on the RuV-positive samples. The genotypes and lineages of Yunnan strains were determined by comparing them with the reference strains, and further phylogenetic analysis was performed with Yunnan strains and strains circulating in other provinces of China during the same period. Results: RuV circulating in Yunnan province during 2011-2021 showed significant genetic diversity, and three lineages, 1E-L1, 2B-L1 and 1E-L2, were detected. Two lineage-switches were also identified, including the conversion of 1E-L1 to 2B-L1 between 2012 and 2013, and the replacement of 2B-L1 to 1E-L2 after 2018. The time of the switches was basically consistent with the outbreak in Yunnan province in 2012 and the time of the rubella reemergence and epidemic between 2018 and 2019. The amino acid sequence of RuV virus strains in Yunnan province was highly conserved, and no important functional regions were changed. Conclusions: The transmission pattern of RuV in Yunnan province is generally consistent with the epidemic trend of RuV in other provinces of China.

ZHONGHUA YU FANG YI XUE ZA ZHI [CHINESE JOURNAL OF PREVENTIVE MEDICINE] 2023; 57:1141-1146. [PMID: 37574303 DOI: 10.3760/cma.j.cn112150-20230208-00089] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [MESH Headings] [Grants] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 08/15/2023]
Abstract
Objective: To analyze the prevalence and the trend of the disease burden of chronic respiratory diseases and relevant risk factors in Jiangsu province from 1990 to 2019 and provide evidence for the prevention and treatment of chronic respiratory diseases. Methods: The data from the 2019 Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD2019) were used to calculate the prevalence rate, mortality rate and disability-adjusted life year (DALY) rate. Software Joinpoint was used to calculate the annual percent change (APC) and average annual percent change (AAPC) of the standardized prevalence rate, standardized mortality rate and standardized DALY rate. The population attributable fractions (PAF) were used to estimate the proportion of chronic respiratory disease caused by different risk factors. Results: In 1990 and 2019, the prevalence rates of chronic respiratory diseases were 4.83% and 5.45%. The mortality rates were 134.91/100 000 and 80.99/100 000 respectively, and the DALY rates were 2 678.52/100 000 and 1 534.31/100 000 respectively. From 1990 to 2019, the age-standardized prevalence rate, mortality rate and DALY rate in Jiangsu showed a significant downward trend (AAPC values were -0.90%, -5.28% and -4.70% respectively, P<0.05). Tobacco use was the leading cause of chronic respiratory diseases, followed by air pollution, occupational exposure, suboptimal temperature and high BMI. Compared with 1990, the proportion of DALYs of chronic respiratory diseases attributable to tobacco use and high BMI increased in 2019. Conclusion: The overall burden of chronic respiratory diseases in Jiangsu shows a downward trend. Prevention and health education should be focused on the population with a smoking history and high BMI. At the same time, environmental management, attention to suboptimal temperature and control of occupational exposure factors should also be adopted as important means to prevent and control chronic respiratory diseases.

Abstract
The first simultaneous test of muon-electron universality using B^{+}→K^{+}ℓ^{+}ℓ^{-} and B^{0}→K^{*0}ℓ^{+}ℓ^{-} decays is performed, in two ranges of the dilepton invariant-mass squared, q^{2}. The analysis uses beauty mesons produced in proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector between 2011 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}. Each of the four lepton universality measurements reported is either the first in the given q^{2} interval or supersedes previous LHCb measurements. The results are compatible with the predictions of the Standard Model.

BACKGROUND Combinations of avelumab [anti-programmed death-ligand 1 (anti-PD-L1)] or talazoparib [poly(adenosine diphosphate ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitor] with binimetinib (MEK inhibitor) were expected to result in additive or synergistic antitumor activity relative to each drug administered alone. Here, we report phase Ib results from JAVELIN PARP MEKi, which investigated avelumab or talazoparib combined with binimetinib in metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (mPDAC). PATIENTS AND METHODS Patients with mPDAC that had progressed with prior treatment received avelumab 800 mg every 2 weeks plus binimetinib 45 mg or 30 mg two times daily (continuous), or talazoparib 0.75 mg daily plus binimetinib 45 mg or 30 mg two times daily (7 days on/7 days off). The primary endpoint was dose-limiting toxicity (DLT). RESULTS A total of 22 patients received avelumab plus binimetinib 45 mg (n = 12) or 30 mg (n = 10). Among DLT-evaluable patients, DLT occurred in five of 11 patients (45.5%) at the 45-mg dose, necessitating de-escalation to 30 mg; DLT occurred in three of 10 patients (30.0%) at the 30-mg dose. Among patients treated at the 45-mg dose, one (8.3%) had a best overall response of partial response. Thirteen patients received talazoparib plus binimetinib 45 mg (n = 6) or 30 mg (n = 7). Among DLT-evaluable patients, DLT occurred in two of five patients (40.0%) at the 45-mg dose, necessitating de-escalation to 30 mg; DLT occurred in two of six patients (33.3%) at the 30-mg dose. No objective responses were observed. CONCLUSIONS Combinations of avelumab or talazoparib plus binimetinib resulted in higher-than-expected DLT rates. However, most DLTs were single occurrences, and the overall safety profiles were generally consistent with those reported for the single agents.
