Abstract
This study aimed to investigate risk factors associated with breast cancer among Han Chinese women in northern and eastern China. A matched case-control study involving 1489 patients with breast cancer and 1489 controls was conducted across 21 hospitals in 11 provinces in China, from April 2012 to April 2013. We developed a structured questionnaire to record information from face-to-face interviews with participants. Student's t-tests, Pearson's chi-square tests, and univariate and multivariate conditional logistic regression analyses were used to identify variables with significant differences between the case and control groups. Ten variables were identified (P<0.05): location, economic status, waist-to-hip ratio, menopause, family history of breast cancer, present life satisfaction, sleep satisfaction, milk products, behavior prevention scores, and awareness of breast cancer. We identified a comprehensive range of factors related to breast cancer, among which several manageable factors may contribute to breast cancer prevention. Further prospective studies concerning psychological interventions, sleep regulation, health guidance, and physical exercise are required. A screening model for high-risk populations should be put on the agenda.

Abstract
Acanthospermum hispidum DC, an Asteraceae weed species, was very susceptible to fluazifop-P-butyl, but tolerant to other aryloxyphenoxypropionate herbicides, such as haloxyfop-P-methyl. However, other Asteraceae weeds including Bidens pilosa were all tolerant to fluazifop-P-butyl. Membrane lipid peroxidation by increasing the levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) was proposed as an action mechanism of fluazifop-P-butyl in A. hispidum. To further clarify the primordial action site of fluazifop-P-butyl in this species, the effects on chlorophyll fluorescence characteristics and cytohistology of apical meristems were studied. Chlorophyll fluorescence characteristics (CFC) in sensitive A. hispidum seedlings were markedly affected by 10μM fluazifop-P-butyl, with the dark fluorescence yield (Fo), maximal fluorescence yield (Fm), maximal PS II quantum yield (Fv/Fm), effective photosystem II (PS II) quantum yield [Y(II)], and quantum yield of regulated energy dissipation [Y(NPQ)] declining, quantum yield of nonregulated energy dissipation [Y(NO)] rising, but these measures were not affected in Bidens pilosa. The effects of fluazifop-P-butyl on chlorophyll fluorescence properties were observed on the growing point before the mature leaves by about 4-6h. Haloxyfop-P-methyl, a control herbicide, had no effects on CFC of either A. hispidum or B. pilosa. In addition, damage to apical meristem cells of A. hispidum was observed at 6 HAT prior to changes in chlorophyll fluorescence parameters suggesting that the primary action site of fluazifop-P-butyl in this species is in the apical meristem and the effects on CFC may be the results of secondary action.

Abstract
Literature suggests that genetic variants associated with increased susceptibility to gastric cancer (GCa) are mostly located in genes involved in carcinogenesis and possibly tumor progression. Therefore, we hypothesize that high genetic susceptibility is also associated with prognosis of the patients. To test this hypothesis, we selected a total of 42 common genetic variants that were reportedly associated with GCa risk with a high level of evidence obtained from either genome-wide association studies (GWASs) or meta-analyses and performed survival analysis of patients used in a case-control analysis. We first used 1115 GCa cases and 1172 cancer-free controls of ethnic Han Chinese to construct a weighted genetic risk score (GRS). Then, we included 633 GCa cases with available clinical information, fit GRS in a fractional polynomial Cox proportional hazards regression model to investigate whether there is a dose-dependent effect of GRS on risk of death in survival analysis. Dynamic predictive value of genetic risk for prognosis was also calculated. The results showed that the increase of GRS had no effect on risk of death in these GCa patients. Compared with GCa patients with the medium GRS, there was no significant difference in survival in patients with either a low (P = 0.349) or a high (P = 0.847) GRS. The results unchanged when data were stratified by tumor stage and Lauren's classification. Time-dependent predictive value for prognosis in considering both clinical factors and GRS was comparable with that in considering clinical factors alone, for either all patients (P = 0.986) or stage- and Laruen type-based subgroups (P > 0.05 for all). In conclusion, higher polygenic susceptibility loci for GCa may not indicate worse prognosis of Chinese patients. Additional variants of relevant genes modulating GCa patients' survival need to be further identified.

Abstract
Obesity is a consideration in the pharmacologic intervention for estrogen receptor‐positive breast cancer risk. This case‐control study among women in Northern and Eastern China was conducted to clarify the possible associations between both general and central obesity and breast cancer risk. Background. Obesity is a consideration in the pharmacologic intervention for estrogen receptor (ER) positive (ER+) breast cancer risk. Body mass index (BMI) and waist/hip ratio (WHR) have demonstrated different effects on breast cancer risk in relation to estrogen receptor (ER) status, but the results have been inconsistent. Furthermore, the situation in Chinese women remains unclear. Materials and Methods. We conducted a case‐control study including 1,439 breast cancer cases in Northern and Eastern China. Both ER and progesterone receptor (PR) statuses were available for 1,316 cases. Associations between body size‐related factors and breast cancer risk defined by receptor status were assessed by multiple polytomous unconditional logistic regression analysis. Results. Body mass index and WHR were positively associated with overall breast cancer risk. Body mass index was positively associated with both ER+/PR positive (PR+) and ER negative (ER−)/PR negative(PR−) subtype risks, although only significantly for ER+/PR+ subtype. Waist–hip ratio was only positively correlated with ER−/PR− subtype risk, although independent of BMI. Body mass index was positively associated with risk of ER+/PR+ and ER−/PR− subtypes in premenopausal women, whereas WHR was inversely correlated with ER+/PR− and positively with ER−/PR− subtype risks. Among postmenopausal women, WHR >0.85 was associated with increased risk of ER−/PR− subtype. Conclusion. Both general and central obesity contribute to breast cancer risk, with different effects on specific subtypes. General obesity, indicated by BMI, is more strongly associated with ER+/PR+ subtype, especially among premenopausal women, whereas central obesity, indicated by WHR, is more specific for ER−/PR− subtype, independent of menopausal status. These results suggest that different chemoprevention strategies may be appropriate in selected individuals. Implications for Practice. The results of this study suggest that general and central obesity may play different roles in different breast cancer subtypes, supporting the hypothesis that obesity affects breast carcinogenesis via complex molecular interconnections, beyond the impact of estrogens. The results also imply that different chemoprevention strategies may be appropriate for selected individuals, highlighting the need to be particularly aware of women with a high waist/hip ratio but normal body mass index. Given the lack of any proven pharmacologic intervention for estrogen receptor negative breast cancer, stricter weight‐control measures may be advised in these individuals.

Abstract
Objective: To research the modulation of Umbilical cord blood mesenchymal stem cells on the number and function of Treg cells in the patients with aplastic anemia, as well as the expression of LFA-1 on Treg cells. Methods: A total of 20 newly diagnosed NSAA patients were collected from May 2015 to Jun 2016 in Department of Hematopathy, General Hospital of Jinan Military, and 10 healthy volunteers were recruited as controls. Separation of the patients and controls with peripheral blood mononuclear cells were divided into two groups, including PBMCs culture alone, PBMCs co-culture with UC-MSCs, application of flow cytometry detect respectively the proportion of the Treg cells and the expression of LFA-1 on Treg cells under different culture conditions. The Treg cells and CD4(+) CD25(-)T lymphocyte were separated by magnetic cell sorting (MACS) system, CFSE label CD4(+) CD25(-)T lymphocyte, comparing the inhibitive function of Treg cells on CD4(+) CD25(-)T lymphocyte with or without co-culture with UC-MSCs. Results: The intensity of fluorescence expression of LFA-1 on T lymphocyte in aplastic anemia increased obviously((71.4±10.1)vs(52.5±8.7) , P=0.002), but the LFA-1 expressed on Treg cells had no significant difference(P=0.199). After co-cultured with UC-MSCs, the proportion of LFA-1 on Treg cells in aplastic anemia reduced greatly ((20.96±1.76)% vs(44.26±1.19)%, P=0.012), at the same time, UC-MSCs increased the proportion of Treg cells obviously ((5.33±1.14)%vs(1.94±0.65)%, P=0.003), but the effect of Treg cells on the mean frquency of dividing CD4(+) CD25(-)T lymphocyte had no significant difference with or without co-culture with UC-MSCs(P=0.290). Conclusions: The intensity of fluorescence expression of LFA-1 on lymphocyte in aplastic anemia increases obviously, indicating the possible pathogenesis of AA. UC-MSCs inhibit the expression of LFA-1 on Treg cells and enhance the proportion of Treg cells, but UC-MSCs doesn't directly improve the immunosuppression of single Treg cells.

Abstract
In this study, we investigated the roles of RIP1/RIP3 mediated cardiomyocyte necroptosis in CVB3-induced acute myocarditis. Serum concentrations of creatinine kinase (CK), CK-MB, and cardiac troponin I were detected using a Hitachi Automatic Biochemical Analyzer in a mouse model of acute VMC. Histological changes in cardiac tissue were observed by light microscope and expression levels of RIP1/RIP3 in the cardiac tissue were detected via Western blot and immunohistochemistry. The data showed that RIP1/RIP3 was highly expressed in cardiomyocytes in the acute VMC mouse model and that the necroptosis pathway specific blocker, Nec-1, dramatically reduced the myocardial damage by downregulating the expression of RIP1/RIP3. These findings provide evidence that necroptosis plays a significant role in cardiomyocyte death and it is a major pathway for cell death in acute VMC. Blocking the necroptosis pathway may serve as a new therapeutic option for the treatment of acute viral myocarditis.

Abstract
To date, few works have attempted to determine the effect of soil types on Selenium aging process and the possible influential factors. In this study, the differences in Se speciation distribution and availability in 15 Chinese typical agricultural soils were investigated using spiked selenate for the entire year. Results evidenced that after one year of incubation, Se transformed from soluble fraction to Fe/Mn oxides and organic matter bound fractions in neutral or alkaline soils (pH 7.09-8.51) and from exchangeable fraction to residual fraction in acidic soils (pH 4.89-6.82). The available Se content in all soils declined rapidly at the initial stage of aging, with most of the neutral or alkaline soils reaching equilibrium after 109 d, whereas the acidic soils reached equilibrium after only 33-56 d. The available Se content in soil decreased constantly during the entire aging process in S4 (Xinjiang Gray desert soil), S12 (Anhui Yellow brown earths), and S15 (Hunan Krasnozems). Elovich model was the best model (R2 > 0.80) in describing the Se aging process. Estimated time for exogenous Se reaching the distribution of available Se in corresponding native soils extended from 9.7 y to 50.2 y, indicating a much longer time was required for spiked soil to reach equilibrium. Soil pH was the most significant factor directly and negatively influencing the aging process (p < 0.05), while organic matter played a dual role on Se speciation. Results could provide reference for the selection of unified equilibrium time on Se-spiked experiment.

Abstract
Ultrasonic wave propagation in a synthetic medium with different scale fractures is investigated through the physics modeling research. The experiment model consisting of two layers, the first layer is divided into four fractured blocks with a constant fracture density but different dimension and a block without fractures as the reference region. The velocity and reflected amplitude of wave derived from the wide azimuth data processing are anisotropic due to the fractured layer. Coda wave characteristics versus offset and azimuth are obviously different for varying fracture scales. The ratio of wavelength and fracture dimension is an important parameter in the wave-fracture interaction based on the multiple scattering theory. When the wavelength of the incident wave is close to the fracture length, the scattering is dominant in the shot records and the waves are slowed and attenuated largely for the reflections from the bottoms of fractured layer and base model. The physical modeling results demonstrate that it is possible to extract fracture dimension and orientation information by analyzing code and primary waves from the reflection data.

Abstract
Background Aimed to identify the benefit population from continuation of epidermal growth factor receptor-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs), this study investigated the efficacy of continuation of EGFR-TKIs plus chemotherapy beyond the response evaluation criteria in solid tumors-progressive disease (RECIST-PD) according to different progression modes and T790M mutational status. Methods From November 2009 to July 2015, 630 patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) receiving gefitinib as initial EGFR-TKI treatment were screened in Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital. A total of 170 patients with documented gradual or dramatic progression after gefitinib treatment who received chemotherapy alone or in combination with gefitinib were included. Post-RECIST-PD progression-free survival (PPFS) between continuation of gefitinib plus chemotherapy and chemotherapy alone was assessed. Results The incidence of T790M mutation was 42.9% (63/147) in patients who got acquired resistance in this study. Median PPFS was 4.0 months [95% confidence interval (CI), 3.1-4.9 months] in the chemotherapy group and 5.0 months (95% CI, 3.6-6.4 months) in the combination group with a borderline statistical significance (P=0.071). Continuation of gefitinib plus chemotherapy resulted in a significant improvement in PPFS compared with chemotherapy alone in patients with EGFRT790M-negative tumors [median PPFS: 6.6 vs. 3.5 months, hazard ratio (HR) 0.50, 95% CI, 0.29-0.88; P=0.011], especially in pemetrexed-based chemotherapy (HR 0.45, 95% CI, 0.24-0.86; P=0.011). PPFS was similar in patients with EGFRT790M-positive tumors (median PPFS: 5.0 vs. 5.5 months, HR 0.80, 95% CI, 0.40-1.61; P=0.520) or EGFRT790M-unknown tumors (median PPFS: 2.0 vs. 3.0 months, HR 1.40, 95% CI, 0.69-2.81; P=0.323). Conclusions Our study showed that continuous gefitinib plus chemotherapy, especially pemetrexed-based therapy, significantly improved PPFS in patients with EGFRT790M-negative tumors as compared with chemotherapy alone, suggesting that this subtype of patients may derive clinical benefit from continuation of gefitinib treatment beyond progression.

Abstract
This study was aimed at investigating the chemical stability (the thermal, light and pH stability) of phenylethanoid glycosides (PhGs) in Osmanthus fragrans Lour. flowers, identifying the degradation products of acteoside and salidroside (major PhGs in O. fragrans flowers) by UPLC–QTOF–MS and studying the anti-hypoxia activity of PhGs after degradation. The degradation of PhGs followed first-order reaction kinetics, and the rate constant of acteoside (4.3 to 203.4 × 10−3 day−1) was higher than that of salidroside (3.9 to 33.3 × 10−3 day−1) in O. fragrans flowers. Salidroside was mainly hydrolyzed to tyrosol during storage, and the degradation products of acteoside were verbasoside, caffeic acid, isoacteoside, etc. In a model of cobalt chloride (CoCl2)-induced hypoxia in PC12 cells, the anti-hypoxia ability of PhGs decreased after degradation, which resulted from the reduction of PhGs contents. Particularly, caffeic acid exhibited stronger anti-hypoxia ability than acteoside and could slightly increase the anti-hypoxia ability of degraded acteoside. The results revealed that high temperature, high pH and light exposure caused PhGs degradation, and thus the anti-hypoxia ability of PhGs reduced.

Abstract
Previous studies have shown that a large solid-state entropy of reduction increases the thermodynamic efficiency of metal oxides, such as ceria, for two-step thermochemical water splitting cycles. In this context, the configurational entropy arising from oxygen off-stoichiometry in the oxide, has been the focus of most previous work. Here we report a different source of entropy, the onsite electronic configurational entropy, arising from coupling between orbital and spin angular momenta in lanthanide f orbitals. We find that onsite electronic configurational entropy is sizable in all lanthanides, and reaches a maximum value of ≈4.7 kB per oxygen vacancy for Ce4+/Ce3+ reduction. This unique and large positive entropy source in ceria explains its excellent performance for high-temperature catalytic redox reactions such as water splitting. Our calculations also show that terbium dioxide has a high electronic entropy and thus could also be a potential candidate for solar thermochemical reactions. Solid-state entropy of reduction increases the thermodynamic efficiency of ceria for two-step thermochemical water splitting. Here, the authors report a large and different source of entropy, the onsite electronic configurational entropy arising from coupling between orbital and spin angular momenta in f orbitals.

Abstract
Separators, necessary components to isolate cathodes and anodes in Li/Na-ion batteries, are consumed in large amounts per year; thus, their sustainability is a concerning issue for renewable energy storage systems. However, the eco-efficient and environmentally friendly fabrication of separators with a high mechanical strength, excellent thermal stability, and good electrolyte wettability is still challenging. Herein, we reported the fabrication of a new type of separators for Li/Na-ion batteries through the self-assembly of eco-friendly chitin nanofibers derived from prawn shells. We demonstrated that the pore size in the chitin nanofiber membrane (CNM) separator can be tuned by adjusting the amount of pore generation agent (sodium dihydrogen citrate) in the self-assembly process of chitin nanofibers. By optimizing the pore size in CNM separators, the electrochemical performance of the LiFePO4/Li half-cell with a CNM separator is comparable to that with a commercialized polypropylene (PP) separator. More attractively, the CNM separator showed a much better performance in the LiFePO4/Li cell at 120 °C and Na3V2(PO4)3/Na cell than the PP separator. The proposed fabrication of separators by using natural raw materials will play a significant contribution to the sustainable development of renewable energy storage systems.

Abstract
Nanostructured metal sulfide-amine hybrid materials have attracted attention because of their unique properties and versatility as precursors for functional inorganic nanomaterials. However, large-scale synthesis of metal sulfide-amine hybrid nanomaterials is limited by hydrothermal and solvothermal preparative reaction conditions; consequently, incorporation of such materials into functional nanomaterials is hindered. An amine molecule-assisted refluxing method was used to synthesize highly uniform zinc sulfide⋅(diethylenetriamine)0.5 (ZnS⋅(DETA)0.5 ) hybrid nanosheets and nanobelts in a large scale. The obtained ZnS⋅(DETA)0.5 hybrid nanomaterials can be used as efficient precursors to fabricate functional ZnS nanomaterials and carbon encapsulated sulfur (S@C) nanocomposite cathodes for Li-S batteries.

Abstract
Objective:To compare the effects of different thermal insulation measures on perioperative body temperature, peripheral circulation and blood coagulation time in patients undergoing vertical hemi laryngectomy.Method:Sixty eligible patients with elective vertical hemi laryngectomy were randomly divided into 3 groups: preoperative inflatable heating blanket group (A group, n=20), warmed irrigation group (B group, n=20), and control group (C group, n=20). The core temperature were recorded after entering the operating room, before induction, 20th minute during operation, entering PACU and 2nd hour after operation respectively. Blood samples were got at the end of operation to test pH, lactic acid, PT and APTT. After waking patients' SpO₂ and thermal comfort were recorded.Result:The core temperatures at time points of 20th minute during operation and entering PACU were significantly different between C group and A group, C group and B group. There were significant difference in lactic acid, PT, APTT and SpO₂ between C group and A group, C group and B group. Patients' thermal comfort in all three groups were different.Conclusion:Inflatable heating blanket during operation combined with using it before operation or fluid warmers during operation for perioperative body temperature protection duringelective vertical partial laryngectomy surgery can effectively prevent perioperative hypothermia, improve peripheral circulation and blood coagulation time changes, improve patients' comfort after operation.

Abstract
Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) has been widely used for diagnosis and mediastinal lymph nodes staging in patients with suspicious lung cancer. Ultrasound elastography is a novel sonographical technique that can evaluate tissue compressibility. The aim of the present study was to investigate the diagnostic yield of elastography for differentiating malignant and benign mediastinal lymph nodes. Conventional EBUS B-mode features, including size, shape, border distinction, echogenicity, central hilar structure with central blood vessel and coagulation necrosis were also evaluated. The ultrasonic features were compared with the pathological results from EBUS-TBNA. 133 lymph nodes in 60 patients were assessed. Elastography displayed the highest area under the curve (AUC) (type 3 versus type 1: AUC, 0.825; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.707-0.910) with an impressive sensitivity (100%) and an acceptable specificity (65%). The combined model covering the four positive criteria (elastography, heterogeneity, size, and shape) showed that the odds ratio for malignance is 9.44 with a 95% CI of 3.99 to 22.32 (p <0.0001). The combined model was superior to elastography alone (AUC, 0.851; sensitivity, 89.89%; specificity, 72.73%; p <0.0001). This prospective study showed that elastography is a feasible technique for classifying mediastinal lymph nodes, especially in combination with conventional EBUS imaging.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the expression level of serum microRNA-21 (miR-21) in 69 patients with osteosarcoma, to analyze the changes in miR-21 expression in the serum and tumor tissues before and after chemotherapy in patients with osteosarcoma, and to investigate the relationship between the expression of serum miR-21 in patients with osteosarcoma and chemosensitivity. PATIENTS AND METHODS Real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to detect the expression level of serum miR-21 in 69 patients with osteosarcoma before and after chemotherapy, and analyze the relationship between the expression of miR-21 with tumor necrosis grading and chemosensitivity. The expression level of programmed cell death protein 4 (PDCD4) in tumor tissues of patients with osteosarcoma before and after chemotherapy was detected by Western blot. RESULTS The expression level of serum miR-21 in patients with osteosarcoma was significantly higher than that in normal control subjects. The expression of serum miR-21 before and after chemotherapy was positively correlated with the expression of miR-21 in the corresponding tissues. In the group where chemotherapy was effective (the effective group), expression levels of miR-21 in patients with osteosarcoma before and after chemotherapy were significantly different. After chemotherapy, the expression level of target genes of miR-21 was increased, and the follow-up results showed that the 5-year survival rate was relatively higher after surgery. CONCLUSIONS The expression level of serum miR-21 in patients with osteosarcoma is closely related to the therapeutic effects of osteosarcoma, which can be used as one of the potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for the diagnosis and prediction of osteosarcoma.

Abstract
A frontier challenge in implementing femtosecond electron microscopy is to gain precise optical control of intense beams to mitigate collective space charge effects for significantly improving the throughput. Here, we explore the flexible uses of an RF cavity as a longitudinal lens in a high-intensity beam column for condensing the electron beams both temporally and spectrally, relevant to the design of ultrafast electron microscopy. Through the introduction of a novel atomic grating approach for characterization of electron bunch phase space and control optics, we elucidate the principles for predicting and controlling the phase space dynamics to reach optimal compressions at various electron densities and generating conditions. We provide strategies to identify high-brightness modes, achieving ∼100 fs and ∼1 eV resolutions with 106 electrons per bunch, and establish the scaling of performance for different bunch charges. These results benchmark the sensitivity and resolution from the fundamental beam brightness perspective and also validate the adaptive optics concept to enable delicate control of the density-dependent phase space structures to optimize the performance, including delivering ultrashort, monochromatic, high-dose, or coherent electron bunches.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Osmanthus fragrans flowers are used as folk medicine and additives for teas, beverages and foods. The metabolites of O. fragrans flowers from different geographical origins were inconsistent in some extent. Chromatography and mass spectrometry combined with multivariable analysis methods provides an approach for discriminating the origin of O. fragrans flowers. OBJECTIVE To discriminate the Osmanthus fragrans var. thunbergii flowers from different origins with the identified metabolites. METHODS GC-MS and UPLC-PDA were conducted to analyse the metabolites in O. fragrans var. thunbergii flowers (in total 150 samples). Principal component analysis (PCA), soft independent modelling of class analogy analysis (SIMCA) and random forest (RF) analysis were applied to group the GC-MS and UPLC-PDA data. RESULTS GC-MS identified 32 compounds common to all samples while UPLC-PDA/QTOF-MS identified 16 common compounds. PCA of the UPLC-PDA data generated a better clustering than PCA of the GC-MS data. Ten metabolites (six from GC-MS and four from UPLC-PDA) were selected as effective compounds for discrimination by PCA loadings. SIMCA and RF analysis were used to build classification models, and the RF model, based on the four effective compounds (caffeic acid derivative, acteoside, ligustroside and compound 15), yielded better results with the classification rate of 100% in the calibration set and 97.8% in the prediction set. CONCLUSIONS GC-MS and UPLC-PDA combined with multivariable analysis methods can discriminate the origin of Osmanthus fragrans var. thunbergii flowers. Copyright © 2017 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

The purpose of this review was to summarize the current knowledge on the utilization of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound (US) for assessing arthropathy in children and adolescents with haemophilia and to recognize the limitations of each imaging modality and pitfalls in the diagnosis of soft tissue and osteochondral abnormalities. Awareness of MRI and US limitations and pitfalls in the assessment of joints in persons with haemophilia is essential for accurate diagnosis and optimal management of haemophilic arthropathy.
