Abstract
Sjögren's syndrome is a systemic autoimmune disease which is characterized by xerosis, and multiple organs can be affected, causing interstitial lung disease, renal tubular acidosis, blood system involvement, peripheral neuropathy, and liver damage, but cardiac involvement is rare. Here we report a case of Sjögren's syndrome with prominent aortic valve involvement. A 66-year-old woman was admitted for exertional dyspnea, and the ultrasonic cardiogram showed severe aortic stenosis with moderate regurgitation. Preoperative examination for valve replacement found that the patient had elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate and positive rheumatoid factor, so she was referred to the rheumatology outpatient department for further examination and treatment. Further questions about medical history found that the patient had dry eyes and dry mouth for more than ten years, and had obvious caries. Further laboratory examination showed elevated serum immunoglobulin levels and positive anti-nuclear antibody. The findings of ophthalmologic examination and labial gland biopsy also supported the diagnosis of Sjögren's syndrome. After treatment of glucocorticoids and hydroxychloroquine for ten months, her dyspnea symptoms were obviously improved in the patient, and the rheumatoid factor had become negative while her erythrocyte sedimentation rate normal. Repeated ultrasonic cardiogram examination showed that her aortic stenosis was also improved. The patient has been followed up for four years, and her condition kept stable. Cardiac involvement in Sjögren's syndrome can affect all parts of the heart, but valve involvement is relatively rare. The specific relationship between cardiac involvement and Sjögren's syndrome and the mechanisms behind these associations both need further research.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the current status, temporal trend and achieving Health China 2030 reduction target of probability of premature mortality caused by four main non-communicable diseases (NCDs) including cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, tumour, diabetes, and chronic respiratory disease in China both at national and provincial level during 1990 to 2015. Methods: Using the results of Global Burden of Disease study 2015 (GBD 2015), according to the method of calculating premature mortality probability recommended by WHO, the current status and temporal trend by different gender from 1990 to 2015 were calculated, analyzed, and compared. Referring to " Health China 2030" target of reduction 30% of probability of premature mortality caused by major NCDs, we evaluated the difficulty of achieving the reduction target among provinces (not including Taiwan). Results: From 1990 to 2015, the probabilities of premature mortality in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, tumour, and chronic respiratory disease were all declined consistently for both men and women in China, the total of four main NCDs decreased from 30.69% to 18.54% with higher decreasing in women (from 25.97% to 12.40%) than that in men (from 34.94% to 24.19%). In 2015, the top five provinces in terms of probability of premature mortality caused by four main NCDs were Qinghai (28.81%), Tibet (25.88%), Guizhou (24.67%), Guangxi (23.56%), and Xinjiang (23.21%) in turn, while the top five provinces with the lowest probability were Shanghai (8.40%), Beijing (9.39%), Hong Kong (10.10%), Macao (10.31%), and Zhejiang (11.70%). If achieving the " Health China 2030" target, the probabilities of premature mortality in Qinghai and Tibet with the highest probability should decline to about 20.17%, and 18.12%, respectively in 2030, while 5.88%, and 6.57% in Shanghai and Beijing, respectively. From 1990 to 2015, the probability of premature mortality of four main NCDs declined by 2.00% a year on average, the top five provinces with the fastest decline were Beijing (3.48%), Shanghai (3.24%), Zhejiang (2.81%), Fujian (2.75%), and Guangdong (2.67%), and 11 provinces including these five provinces could achieve the " Health China 2030" target by the usual rate of decline, while other 22 provinces could not achieve the target, they need greater rate of decline in order to achieve the target. Conclusion: From 1990 to 2015, the probabilities of premature mortality of four main NCDs were declined consistently in China both at national and provincial level, compared with women, the men had higher probabilities and declined slower, there were significant different in probabilities of premature mortality and their change speed among provinces. Based on the results from 1990 to 2015, there were about two thirds of the provinces, which the task of achieving the Health China 2030 target will be daunting.

Abstract
Objective: To identify the role of interferon (IFN)-γ during respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) re-infection in mice. Method: Female wild type C57BL/6 mice and IFN-γ knockout mice (IFN-γ(-/-) mice) at the age of 6 to 8 weeks were randomly divided into two groups: control group and RSV group, according to random number table.Each group was further divided into primary infection group and re-infection group.There were 8 groups.Mice were sacrificed on days 5, 7, 14 to collect samples.There were 5-8 mice in each group at each time point.And experiment was repeated twice. Leukocytes in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were counted, left lung tissues were stained with HE and histopathological scoring (HPS) was performed.The concentrations of IFN-γ, IL-5, IL-13 were determined with ELISA.T test or single factor analysis of variance was used to compare between groups. Result: (1) Mice infected or reinfected with RSV showed pale hair, weight loss, decreased activity and anorexia.(2) IFN-γ levels significantly increased on days 5 and 7 following RSV primary infection and reinfection as compared to control groups in wild type mice ((192±44) vs.(36±8) and (531±161) vs.(23±4) pg/ml on day 5, (100±23) vs.(36±8) and (862±186) vs.(23±4) pg/ml on day 7, t=2.654, 2.513, 2.654, 3.968, all P<0.05). (3) Compared to the RSV-reinfected IFN-γ(-/-) mice, RSV-reinfected wild type mice had less body weight loss ((13.6±2.6)% vs.(22.7±2.9)% on day 5, (18.0±3.1)% vs.(26.5±1.8)% on day 7, t=2.314, 2.308, both P<0.05), lower lung tissue histopathological score ((1.50±0.09) vs.(2.07±0.11) on day 5, (1.53±0.11) vs.(2.08±0.09) on day 7, (1.10±0.06) vs.(1.59±0.08) on day 14, t=3.916, 3.890, 4.837, all P<0.01), less BALF inflammatory cells count ((11.6±2.0) vs.(44.2±10.6)×10(5)/ml on day 5, (18.2±3.9) vs.(38.3±2.2)×10(5)/ml on day 7, t=2.818, 4.786, both P<0.05), and lower levels of IL-5 and IL-13 ((24±3) vs.(148±23), (23±4) vs.(169±26) pg/ml on day 5, (30±8) vs.(233±44), (20±5) vs.(182±19) pg/ml on day 7, (91±6) vs.(129±19), (62±8) vs.(132±5) pg/ml on day 14, t=5.252, 5.445, 4.517, 7.326, 3.816, 7.577, all P<0.01). Conclusion: IFN-γ can alleviate airway inflammation following RSV reinfection in mice.

Abstract
Objective: To assess the disease burden attributable to household air pollution in 1990 and 2013 in China. Methods: Based on data from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2013 in China (GBD 2013), we used population attributable fractions (PAF) to analyze the burden of different diseases attributable to solid-fuel household pollution in 2013 in China(not inclnding HongKang, Macao, Taiwan). We compared PAF, mortality, and disability-adjusted life years (DALY) for diseases attributable to solid-fuel household pollution in 31 provinces in mainland China in 1990 and 2013, and stratified the burden by age group. The estimated world average population during 2000- 2025 was used to calculate age-standardized mortality and DALY rates. Results: In 2013, 14.9% of lower respiratory infections in children <5, 32.5% of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), 12.0% of ischemic stroke, 14.2% of hemorrhagic stroke, 10.9% of ischemic heart disease, and 13.7% of lung cancer were attributable to solid-fuel household pollution. In addition, 807 000 deaths were attributable to solid-fuel household pollution, including 296 000 from COPD, 169 000 from hemorrhagic stroke, 152 000 from ischemic heart disease, 88 000 from ischemic stroke, 75 000 from lung cancer, and 28 000 from lower respiratory infections in children <5. The age-standardized mortality rate from solid-fuel household pollution decreased by 59.3% from 158.8/100 000 in 1990 to 64.6/100 000 in 2013. The age-standardized mortality rate from solid-fuel household pollution decreased in all 31 provinces, with the highest decline observed in Shanghai (96.3%), and lowest in Xinjiang (39.9%). In 2013, the age-standardized DALY rate from solid-fuel household pollution was highest in Guizhou (2 233.0/100 000) and lowest in Shanghai (27.0/100 000). The DALY rate was the highest for the >70 age group (7 006.0/100 000). Compared with 1990, the 2013 mortality rate and DALY rate from solid-fuel household pollution decreased in all age groups, with the highest decline observed in the <5 age group (91.9% and 91.8% , respectively). Conclusion: Although the disease burden attributable to household air pollution decreased notably between 1990 and 2013, household pollution caused a high number of deaths and DALY loss in certain western provinces.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the effect of fine particulate matters with an aerodynamic diameter less than 2.5 μm (PM(2.5)) on daily cardiovascular disease mortality in seven cities of China. Methods: Daily average concentrations of PM(2.5), cardiovascular disease mortality data and environmental data were collected from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2015 in seven cities of China, including Shijiazhuang, Haerbin, Shanghai, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Xi' an. We linked generalized additive model with Quasi-Poisson distribution to evaluate the association between daily concentrations of PM(2.5) and cardiovascular disease mortality at single-city level and multi-city level, after adjusting for the long-term and seasonal trend, as well as meteorological factors and the effect of " days of week" . Results: The single-pollutant model indicated that there were marked differences in association strength in these cities, among which the effect in Guangzhou was strongest. At multi-city level, a 10 μg/m(3) increase of PM(2.5) was associated with an increase of 0.315% (95%CI: 0.133%-0.497%) of daily cardiovascular disease mortality. From lag0 to lag2, the effect of PM(2.5) on cardiovascular disease mortality decreased, while it was strongest on lag01. In the two-pollutant model, the estimated effect decreased in all the cities with the adjustments of SO(2) or NO(2). The insignificant combined results suggested that PM(2.5) might have combined effect with other pollutants. Each 10 μg/m(3) increase of PM(2.5) was associated with increases of 0.371% (95%CI: 0.141%-0.600%) and 0.199% (95% CI: 0.077%-0.321%) of cardiovascular disease mortality in males and females, respectively. The effect of PM(2.5) on cardiovascular disease mortality increased with age and decreased with educational level, although the differences between different subgroups were insignificant. The dose-response relationship between PM(2.5) and cardiovascular disease mortality was non-linear and non-threshold, with a steeper curve at lower concentrations. Conclusion: The increases of PM(2.5) concentration can result in the increase of daily cardiovascular mortality.

Abstract
Objective: To understand the life expectancy (LE) and health life expectancy (HALE) of Chinese during 1990-2015. Methods: Using the results of global burden of disease study 2015 (GBD 2015), we compared the Chinese LE and HALE in 2015 with those of other countries and analyzed the differences between LE and HALE in Chinese and the changes of LE and HALE during 1990-2015 at both national level and provincial level. Results: In 2015, the LE and the HALE of Chinese were 76.2 and 68.0 years, 4.4 and 5.2 years higher than the global averages, respectively. The LE and HALE were higher in women than in men. The high LE and HALE were observed in developed provinces or areas, such as Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Macau, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Tianjin and Guangdong, while the low LE and HALE were found in underdeveloped provinces, such as Tibet, Qinghai, Guizhou, Xinjiang and Yunnan. Between 1990 and 2015, the LE and HALE of Chinese increased substantially by 9.5 and 8.4 years, respectively. The increase of LE was greater than that of HALE at both national level and provincial level. Conclusion: LE and HALE of Chinese increased substantially from 1990 to 2015, but the differences among provinces were obvious.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE There is some evidence that clozapine is significantly underutilised. Also, clozapine use is thought to vary by country, but so far no international study has assessed trends in clozapine prescribing. Therefore, this study aimed to assess clozapine use trends on an international scale, using standardised criteria for data analysis. METHOD A repeated cross-sectional design was applied to data extracts (2005-2014) from 17 countries worldwide. RESULTS In 2014, overall clozapine use prevalence was greatest in Finland (189.2/100 000 persons) and in New Zealand (116.3/100 000), and lowest in the Japanese cohort (0.6/100 000), and in the privately insured US cohort (14.0/100 000). From 2005 to 2014, clozapine use increased in almost all studied countries (relative increase: 7.8-197.2%). In most countries, clozapine use was highest in 40-59-year-olds (range: 0.6/100 000 (Japan) to 344.8/100 000 (Finland)). In youths (10-19 years), clozapine use was highest in Finland (24.7/100 000) and in the publicly insured US cohort (15.5/100 000). CONCLUSION While clozapine use has increased in most studied countries over recent years, clozapine is still underutilised in many countries, with clozapine utilisation patterns differing significantly between countries. Future research should address the implementation of interventions designed to facilitate increased clozapine utilisation.

Abstract
Objective: To examine the burden of disease(BOD)attributable to high-sodium diets in China in 2013. Methods: Data were extracted from the 2013 Global Burden of Disease Study for China to examine the BOD attributable to high-sodium diets in 2013, gender, and disease composition. Measurements for attributable BOD were population attributable fraction(PAF), deaths, standardized mortality and disability-adjusted life years(DALY)(not including Taiwan, China). An average world population age-structure for the period 2000-2025 was adopted to calculate age-standardized rates. Results: In 2013, deaths attributable to high-sodium diets accounted for 12.6% of all deaths and 14.5% of chronic disease deaths. Overall, 7.8% of deaths because of neoplasms, 25.2% of cardiovascular disease deaths, and 22.9% of chronic kidney disease deaths were attributable to high-sodium diets. A total of 1 176 553 deaths were attributable to high-sodium diets and the standardized mortality was 91.5/100 000, which was higher in men than in women(121.7/100 000 and 63.0/100 000, respectively). Overall, 22.759 million DALYs were attributable to high-sodium diets. The DALY standardized rate was 1 588.0/100 000, which was higher in men than in women(2 189.7/100 000 and 993.2/100 000, respectively). When compared by province, PAF in Xinjiang(25.0%), Qinghai(23.7%), Shanxi(23.2%), Tibet(22.1%)and Shandong(20.5%)was higher than other provinces. The standardized mortality in Xinjiang(239.4/100 000), Qinghai(238.9/100 000), Tibet(221.7/100 000), Shanxi(166.2/100 000)and Hebei(149.9/100 000)were higher than other provinces. The DALY standardized rate attributable to high-sodium diets was highest in Xinjiang(4 430.8/100 000), Qinghai(4 422.5/100 000), Tibet(4 021.4/100 000), Shanxi(2 816.6/100 000), and Hebei(2 624.9/100 000). Conclusion: The BOD attributable to high-sodium diets is a serious issue in China, particularly in men and in the northern provinces. Effective measures should be taken in northern provinces to reduce sodium intake.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the mortality of cervical cancer and its temporal trend in women in China between 2006 and 2012. Methods: The cause-of-death data about cervical cancer, which was abstracted from National Disease Surveillance Points and adjusted by special survey for underreporting, was used to analyze the age and area specific crude mortality rates of cervical cancer in China during 2006-2012. The age-standardized mortality rate was calculated by using world standardized population (Segi's). The Joinpoint regression model was used to obtain annual percentage change and 95%CI for assessing the time trend of mortality rate of cervical cancer from 2006 to 2012. Results: In 2012, the crude mortality rate of cervical cancer was 3.15 per 100 000 in women in China. The mortality rate in rural area (3.45/100 000) was higher than that in urban area (2.76/100 000), while the central area had the highest mortality rate of cervical cancer (3.77/100 000) compared with western area (3.23/100 000) and eastern area (2.54/100 000). The Segi's age-standardized mortality rate in eastern area increased by 2.9% (95%CI: 0.8%-5.0%) annually, an increase of 6.0% was observed in age group 30-59 years (95%CI: 1.6%-10.5%). However, the Segi's age-standardized mortality rate in central area declined by 4.6% (95%CI: -5.9% - -3.3%), where the declines of 3.2% and 5.7% were observed in age groups 30-59 years and ≥60 years (95%CI: - 5.0%-- 1.4% and 95% CI: - 9.3% --2.0%) and respectively. There was no significant change in cervical cancer mortality in western area. The similar trends were observed in the age-standardized mortality rate calculated according to the population of China. Conclusions: The decline of overall mortality rate of cervical cancer tended to stop in China and significant differences still exist among different areas. Our results suggest that the central/western areas and rural areas are still key areas for cervical cancer prevention and control and close attention should be paid to the increase of cervical cancer mortality in women aged 35-59 years in eastern area. It is essential to establish a systematic cervical cancer prevention network with larger population coverage to reduce the deaths caused by cervical cancer.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE We analyzed the effects of intensive and mitigatory blood glucose control strategy on elderly people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) combined with Alzheimer disease (AD). PATIENTS AND METHODS We enrolled 90 elderly patients with T2DM combined with AD to participate in this study. They were randomly divided into 3 groups: the control group, the strength group and the mitigation group with 30 cases in each group. In the control group, patients were only treated with diet and exercise while in the strength group patients were treated with oral hypoglycemic medications, subcutaneous insulin infusion or continuous infusion by micropump. Blood glucose level in the strength group patients was stabilized within 1 month (pre-meal ≤ 7.0 mmol/L, 2 hours post-meal glucose ≤ 12.0 mmol/L and glycosylated hemoglobin or HbA1c ≤ 7.0%). Personalized treatment programs were adopted for the mitigation group and the objective was to control the pre-meal blood glucose at ≤ 10.0 mmol/L (within 3 to 6 months) and also to control 2 hours post-meal blood glucose at ≤ 20.0 mmol/L (within 3 to 6 months). We compared the occurrence rate of diabetic complications, occurrence rate of new-onset dementia and progressive rate of dementia. RESULTS Our results showed that target glucose rate in the mitigation group was significantly higher than that in the strength group. The occurrence rate of diabetic complications in the mitigation group was significantly lower than that observed in the other two groups. Occurrence rate of diabetic hyperosmolar coma was significantly higher in the control group, the occurrence rate of hypoglycemia was meaningfully lower in the strength group and the occurrence rate of new-onset target-organ injury was considerably higher in the mitigation group. The occurrence rate of new-onset dementia and progressive rate of dementia in mitigation group was significantly lower than those in other two groups. Comparison between the control group and the strength group did not reveal any statistical significance (p > 0.05). In the meantime, the survival time in mitigation group was significantly longer. CONCLUSIONS Elderly patients with T2DM combined with AD may benefit more from the moderate control of blood glucose and a proper increase of the target value.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To analyse and explore the indications and efficacy of liver transplantation for benign liver tumor. METHODS From Jan.2001 to Dec.2014, 6 patients, incluing 3 males and 3 females, with benign liver tumor underwent liver transplantation in our department.There were 2 cases of hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma, 1 case of hepatic cavernous hemangioma, 1 case of liver mesenchymal hamartoma, 1 case of hilar bile duct mucinous cystadenoma, and 1 case of hepatic adenoma. The data of surgical procedure, perioperative complications, postoperative management, and the outcome of follow-up were analyzed. RESULTS Six orthotopic liver transplantation from one living donor and five cadaveric donors were performed. One patient died in the perioperative period, and other patients were discharged with normal liver and kidney function. Within the follow-up time of 22 to 88 months, these patients could live the normal lives with stable graft function and nutritional status. CONCLUSIONS Liver transplantation is the most efficient treatment for unresectable and symptomatic benign lesions, with the favourable outcome.

Abstract
Objective: To estimate the effect of daily diurnal temperature range (DTR) on mortality in different areas in China. Methods: A time series study using the data collected from 66 areas in China was conducted, and Meta-analysis was used to analyze the estimates of associations between DTR and daily mortality. Modifying effects of extremely low and high DTR-mortality relationship by season and socioeconomic status (SES) were also evaluated respectively. Cumulative excess risk (CER) was used as an index to evaluate the effects. Results: The information about 1 260 913 registered deaths were collected between 1 January 2006 and 31 December 2011, we found the relationship between extreme DTR and mortality was non-linear in all regions and the exposure-response curve was J-shaped. In central and south areas of China, the result indicated the obvious acute effect of extremely high DTR, and the mortality effect in central area (CER=5.1%, 95% CI: 2.4%-7.9%) was significant higher than that in south area (CER=4.5%, 95% CI: 1.7%-7.3%). Regarding to the modification of seasons, the cumulative mortality effect of DTR in cold season (CER=5.8%, 95%CI: 2.5%-9.2%) was higher than that in hot season (CER=3.1%, 95%CI: 1.1%-5.1%). Generally, deaths among the elderly (≥75 years) were associated more strongly with extremely high DTR. Conclusions: The mortality effects of extremely DTR in different areas and seasons showed different characteristics, that in central area and in cold season it was significantly stronger. After modified by season and SES, DTRs were the greatest threat to vulnerable population, especially to the elderly (≥75 years). Therefore, more attention should be paid to vulnerable groups and protection measures should be taken according to the local and seasonal conditions.

Abstract
In order to investigate the association between polymorphisms in genes encoding metabolizing enzymes (CYP1A1-MspI, EC-SOD (extracellular superoxide dismutase), GSTT1, GSTM1, ALDH2), cigarette and alcohol consumption, and the risk of oral squamous cell carcinoma, we conducted a prospective case-control study comprised of 750 individuals with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and 750 healthy individuals. Data about smoking and drinking habits were collected along with other demographic and clinical information. Peripheral blood samples were collected for DNA extraction, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and PCR-RFLP (restriction fragment length polymorphism) were used to determine genotypes of CYP1A1, EC-SOD, GSTT1, GSTM1, ALDH2. The results showed that smoking and alcohol consumption were significantly more common among patients than controls (p <0.05). There were significant differences in the genotype distribution for each locus between groups, with the CYP1A1 (m2/ m2), EC-SOD (C/G), GSTT1 [-], GSTM1 [-] and ALDH2 (non G/G) genotypes being more common among patients (p <0.05). Furthermore, the majority of patients had at least two or more variant genotypes, while controls had one or no variant genotype (p <0.05). Finally, multiple variant genotypes combined with smoking, drinking, or both smoking and drinking significantly increased the risk of OSCC, with greater increase for heavier smoking/drinking. In brief, genetic polymorphism of CYP1A1, EC-SOD, GSTT1, GSTM1, and ALDH2 and smoking and drinking history are closely associated with susceptibility to OSCC.

Abstract
We demonstrate a method to stabilize laser frequency which can be continuously tuned over a range of 1.5 GHz. It is based on saturated absorption spectroscopy (SAS) generated by an external-cavity diode laser (ECDL) which is modulated by an electro-optic amplitude modulator (EO-AM). The spectra consist of not only the original peaks corresponding to resonant and crossover lines of 133Cs D2 line, but also signals introduced by sidebands from an EO-AM. Thus, the laser frequency can be locked to any point within the range of the spectra. Furthermore, the tuning range of the laser can be doubled compared to the coverage of common SAS by fixing the frequency of the pumping laser. The best stability of the locked laser induced by the EO-AM is 1.27 × 10-11 over an integrating time of 125 s. This method may be applied for more precise and flexible manipulation of atoms and molecules.

Abstract
In this work, we develop the Green's function method for the solution of the peridynamic non-local diffusion model in which the spatial gradient of the generalized potential in the classical theory is replaced by an integral of a generalized response function in a horizon. We first show that the general solutions of the peridynamic non-local diffusion model can be expressed as functionals of the corresponding Green's functions for point sources, along with volume constraints for non-local diffusion. Then, we obtain the Green's functions by the Fourier transform method for unsteady and steady diffusions in infinite domains. We also demonstrate that the peridynamic non-local solutions converge to the classical differential solutions when the non-local length approaches zero. Finally, the peridynamic analytical solutions are applied to an infinite plate heated by a Gauss source, and the predicted variations of temperature are compared with the classical local solutions. The peridynamic non-local diffusion model predicts a lower rate of variation of the field quantities than that of the classical theory, which is consistent with experimental observations. The developed method is applicable to general diffusion-type problems.

Abstract
To reduce seismic and environmental vibration noise, ultra-low-frequency vertical vibration isolation systems play an important role in absolute gravimetry. For this purpose, an isolator based on a two-stage beam structure is proposed and demonstrated. The isolator has a simpler and more robust structure than the present ultra-low-frequency vertical active vibration isolators. In the system, two beams are connected to a frame using flexural pivots. The upper beam is suspended from the frame with a normal hex spring and the lower beam is suspended from the upper one using a zero-length spring. The pivot of the upper beam is not vertically above the pivot of the lower beam. With this special design, the attachment points of the zero-length spring to the beams can be moved to adjust the effective stiffness. A photoelectric detector is used to detect the angle between the two beams, and a voice coil actuator attached to the upper beam is controlled by a feedback circuit to keep the angle at a fixed value. The system can achieve a natural period of 100 s by carefully moving the attachment points of the zero-length spring to the beams and tuning the feedback parameters. The system has been used as an inertial reference in the T-1 absolute gravimeter. The experiment results demonstrate that the system has significant vibration isolation performance that holds promise in applications such as absolute gravimeters.

Abstract
DIO3 gene encoding type 3 iodothyronine deiodinase is an imprinted gene, located in the DLK1-DIO3 (delta-like 1 homolog-type 3 iodothyronine deiodinase) imprinted domain, and is potentially involved in degrading excessive amounts of thyroid hormone to protect embryogenesis. However, the underlying regulatory mechanism of the imprinted DIO3 gene expression during fetal and neonatal development in goats has not been elucidated. In this study, we explored the DNA methylation patterns of the caprine DIO3 intragenic CpG island and quantified gene expression level in six tissues from Chinese Nanjiang Yellow 3-day old kids. The expression of the DIO3 gene was determined using quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reactions (qRT-PCRs), while the identification of methylation patterns was determined using bisulfite-sequencing PCRs. Modest, and non-significant (P > 0.05), methylation patterns were noted for the DIO3 CpG island methylation in the brain, heart, liver, kidney, lung, and longissimus dorsi tissues (ranging from 26.48 to 34.92%). The expression level of the DIO3 mRNA was significantly higher (P < 0.05) in the liver tissue than in the other five tissues. Pearson's correlation analysis revealed that there was no significant relationship between methylation and gene expression (P > 0.05), which indicated that the expression of the caprine DIO3 gene was likely modified by other regulatory elements. This study identified DNA methylation and expression patterns of the DIO3 gene in goats and provided insights into further regulatory mechanisms of expression and imprinting in the DLK1-DIO3 domain.

Abstract
An accurate and fast fiber transfer delay measurement method is demonstrated. As a key technique, a simple ambiguity resolving process based on phase discrimination and frequency measurement is used to overcome the contradiction between measurement accuracy and system complexity. The system achieves a high measurement accuracy of 0.2 ps with a 0.1 ps measurement resolution and a large dynamic range up to 50 km as well as no dead zone.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the clinical and histopathologic features, diagnosis and differential diagnosis of eccrine angiomatous hamartoma(EAH). METHODS Four cases of eccrine angiomatous hamartoma were studied by light microscopy and immunohistochemical staining along with review of the literature. RESULTS There were 3 male and 1 female patients at diagnosis in age of 4 months, 3.5 years, 5.5 years and 14.0 years, respectively. Tumor sites included the left little finger (1 case), right index finger (1 case), lower back (1 case) and knee (1 case). Clinically, most cases presented as a solitary, flesh or reddish papule, plaque or nodule with size of 0.4-6.0 cm in diameter. The skin lesions in 3 cases enlarged commensurate with the growth of the patients, and local hyperhidrosis in one case. Histologically, EAH was characterized by proliferation of well-differentiated eccrine secretory and ductal elements closely associated with thin-walled angiomatous channels in the middle or deep dermis and subcutaneous tissue. By immunohistochemistry, the vascular components were positive for CD31, CD34 and factor Ⅷ related antigen while the eccrine glands were positive for S-100 protein, CEA, EMA, CAM5.2 and GCDFP15. Local surgical resection was performed in 4 cases and follow-up data (0.5 to 4.5 years) showed no recurrence. CONCLUSION EAH is a rare, benign cutaneous hamartoma. Combination of clinical manifestations, histological changes and immunohistochemical findings is useful for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the relationship between liver cancer and the water environment, we analyzed the life expectancy in 14 counties (districts), which form the Huai River Basin with respect to liver cancer deaths in 2013 and changes in the surface water quality from 2004 to 2010. METHODS The study area included the 14 counties (districts) of the Huai River Basin in China. We obtained surveillance data for all causes of death in the study area during 2013, as well as data for International Classification of Diseases,Tenth Edition(ICD-10) code C22 or liver cancer. Life expectancy and life expectancy after elimination of liver cancer were then calculated. Based on water quality monitoring data from the China Environment Yearbook 2005-2011, we analyzed the water environment of the Huai River Basin, and changes in the water quality. According to the " Encyclopedia of Rivers and Lakes in China" (Huai River Basin section), we divided the river basin into five categories: upstream basin (upstream); midstream, north shore of the basin (midstream-north); midstream, south shore of the basin (midstream-south); downstream basin (downstream); and the Yishusi River Basin. To calculate the life expectancy and life expectancy after elimination of liver cancer in the study area, we used the Nemerow Pollution Index (NPI), to investigate the relationship between liver cancer and the water environment. RESULTS Life expectancy in the 14 study districts varied from 68.99 years (Shenqiu County) to 78.85 years (Jinhu County). Gains in life expectancy after elimination of liver cancer varied from 0.86 to 0.31 years. Midstream-north showed the greatest improvement, with overall gain in life expectancy of 0.77 years; this gain was 1.04 years for males and 0.40 years for females. Yishusi River Basin showed the least improvement, with overall gain in life expectancy of 0.41 years; this gain was 0.54 years for males and 0.24 years for females. For the 7 years from 2004 to 2010, midstream-north had the highest annual NPI values, at 2.08, 1.74, 1.64, 1.81, 1.41, 1.26, and 1.06, respectively. There was a positive correlation between NPI and life expectancy gain for both males and females (r=0.64, P=0.014). There was positive correlation between NPI and life expectancy gain among males alone (r=0.64, P=0.014); there was no significant correlation between NPI and life expectancy gain among females (r=0.44, P=0.115). CONCLUSION Liver cancer had a significant impact on life expectancy in the Huai River Basin. The gain in life expectancy was higher for males than for females. There is a possible relationship between liver cancer deaths and the water environment in the research area, but this study did not infer a causal association.

Abstract
AIMS To evaluate the short term effect of zoledronic acid on bone remodeling in the streptozotocin induced diabetes rats. MATERIALS AND METHODS Diabetes was induced by an injection of streptozotocin (60 mg/kg). The rats were treated with zoledronic acid (0.1 mg/kg) at the onset of diabetes (Z-I group) and 2 weeks later (Z-II group). Rats were sacrificed at the 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 weeks after the onset of diabetes. Real-time PCR and western blot were performed to detect the expression of the following osteogenic gene mRNAs and their proteins: bone morphogenetic proteins 2 (BMP2), Runx2, Osterix and Noggin. The bone mineral density (BMD) and the mechanical resistance test was measured. RESULTS BMP2, Runx2 and Osterix mRNA and protein expression in group D had regulated down, while Noggin expression increased. Z-I treatment could reverse the results. However group Z-II showed only a transient reversing effect. On the 5th week in group D, the BMD decreased, the bone trabecular distance increased, while the trabecular thickness and bone trabecular volume were reduced, the biomechanics index decreased significantly. Zoledronic acid treatment restored these alterations. CONCLUSIONS Zoledronic acid administered in the early stage of the diabetes could prevent the osteopenia. The underlying mechanisms might be that zoledronic acid treatment reversed the effect of diabetes on the expression of osteoblast-regulating transcription factors: BMP2, Runx2 and Osterix.

Abstract
We conducted a case-control study to assess the role of the XRCC1 Arg399Gln, Arg280His, and Arg194Trp gene polymorphisms in pancreatic cancer susceptibility in a Chinese population. A total of 152 patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and 264 control subjects were enrolled in this study between March 2012 and October 2014. XRCC1 Arg399Gln, Arg280His, and Arg194Trp were genotyped using the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism method. As determined by the chi-squared test, a statistically significant difference was observed between pancreatic cancer patients and control subjects in regard to the genetic distribution of XRCC1 Arg399Gln (χ(2) = 16.13, P < 0.001). Using an unconditional regression analysis, we found that the TT genotype of Arg399Gln was associated with a significantly increased risk of pancreatic cancer (OR = 2.33, 95%CI = 1.20-4.51), and that the CT+TT genotype also significantly increased pancreatic cancer risk (OR = 1.58, 95%CI = 1.04-2.41), compared to the wild-type genotype. In conclusion, we found that XRCC1 Arg399Gln genetic variations are associated with pancreatic cancer development, whereas the XRCC1 Arg280His and Arg194Trp polymorphisms did not affect pancreatic cancer risk.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the inhibitory effect of imrecoxib combined with lobaplatin on tumor growth and lymph node metastasis of human lung adenocarcinoma xenografts in nude mice, and to explore its possible mechanisms. METHODS Human lung cancer A549 cells were injected into Bal B/c nude mice subcutaneously. Twenty-eight healthy male nude mice were randomly divided into 4 groups: the control group, imrecoxib group, lobaplatin group and imrecoxib combined with lobaplatin group. Each group was treated with appropriate drugs and the tumor size was measured every five days. The expression of ezrin and E-cadherin protein was detected by immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry. Ezrin and E-cadherin mRNA were detected by real-time PCR. RESULTS The tumor inhibition rates of imrecoxib group, lobaplatin group and combination group were 36.7%, 54.6% and 69.2%, respectively. The tumor volumes of imrecoxib group [(905.33±113.31) mm(3)] and combination group [(507.74±77.50) mm(3)] were significantly lower than that of the control group (1355.33±189.04) mm(3) (P<0.05), and the tumor weights were significantly reduced [(1.13±0.14) g, (0.63±0.10) g respectively] vs. (1.69±0.24) g (P<0.05). The expressions of ezrin protein and mRNA in the imrecoxib group and combined treatment group were significantly lower than that of the control group (136.53±35.52, 74.72±19.48 vs. 175.62±21.16 for protein expression level; 0.54±0.03, 0.36±0.03 vs. 1.02±0.02 for mRNA expression level, respectively, P<0.05 for both), while the expression of E-cadherin protein and mRNA in the imrecoxib group and combined treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group (253.78±38.87, 308.94±24.67 vs. 213.66±30.31 for protein expression level; 2.19±0.02, 3.02±0.02 vs. 1.05±0.03 for mRNA expression level, respectively, P<0.05 for both). There was a significant negative correlation between ezrin protein and E-cadherin protein (r=-0.737, P<0.01), as well as between ezrin mRNA and E-cadherin mRNA (r=-0.977, P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS Administration of imrecoxib combined with lobaphatin has inhibitory effects on the growth of non-small cell lung cancer xenografts and lymph node metastasis via down-regulated ezrin and upregulated E-cadherin. Imrecoxib and lobaplatin have a synergistic antitumor effect.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the feasibility and outcome of liver transplantation in the treatment of liver metastatic cancer. METHODS Four patients with pathologically confirmed liver metastatic cancer underwent liver transplantation, including one of liver metastases from pancreatic endocrine tumor, one from rectal endocrine tumor, one from stomach stromal tumor and one from colorectal carcinoma. Classic surgical method was adopted, i. e. orthotopic liver transplantation for the recipients and transplants came from cadaveric donors. RESULTS All the four patients had a smooth operation, an uneventful early postoperative recovery and good living quality. The patient with liver metastases from pancreatic endocrine tumor had liver tumor recurrence at four and a half years after the transplantation, and then underwent left lateral hepatic lobectomy, without any recurrence until now. The patient with liver metastases from rectal endocrine tumor had right renal and pelvic tumor metastasis at 16 months after the operation, and died of tumor recurrence 5 years after the liver transplantation. The patient with liver metastases from gastric stromal tumor had extensive pelvic metastases at five and a half months after the transplantation, and survived with tumor for 4 years and 6 months after the operation. The patient with liver metastases from colorectal carcinoma had extensive bilateral lung metastases at 3 months after the transplantation and died one and a half years after the operation. CONCLUSION For well-differentiated unresectable metastatic liver cancers, liver transplantation may serve as a treatment option and better treatment results can be achieved for some highly selected patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To understand the epidemiological characteristics of pertussis in adults and related factors in Tianjin. METHODS Descriptive epidemiological analysis was conducted by using the epidemiological data of pertussis in adults in Tianjin during 2005-2014. The transmission routes of family cluster cases were analyzed. ELISA was conducted to detect pertussis immunity levels in adults aged 18-83 years. RESULTS The pertussis cases in adults accounted for 28.57%(252/882)of the total cases in Tianjin , the annual incidence of pertussis in adults was 0.16/100 000. The highest incidence was 0.46/100 000 in 2013. The age specific proportion of the cases was highest in age group 21-30 years(36.12%, 91/252). Three household transmission routes of pertussis were identified, the major one was adult-to-infant(77.78%,98/126). The parents were the infection sources of 81.64% of infant cases(80/98). Of the 904 study subjects, the average positive rate of antibody against pertussis was 55.20%(95%CI: 51.96%-58.44%). There were significant differences in antibody positive rate among different age groups(P= 0.015), and which had the linear correlation with the reported annual incidence(r=0.98, P=0.003)and showed upward trend(χ(2)=11.79, P=0.001). CONCLUSION The study indicated that adults have become the population at high risk for pertussis and the major infection sources for infants in Tianjin. The positive rate of antibody against pertussis was low in adults. It is suggested to conduct pertussis vaccination in adults.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the burden of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in China attributable to ambient ozone pollution in 1990 and 2013. METHODS Based on the results of the China Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) 2013, the population attributable fractions was used to analyze the deaths and disability-adjusted life years (DALY) of COPD attributable to ambient ozone pollution in all provinces (not including Taiwan, China) in 1990 and 2013, and to compare changes of the attributable disease burden in 1990 and 2013. RESULTS In 2013, 7.4% (95% uncertainty interval (95% UI): 6.1%-8.6%) of COPD were attributable to ambient ozone pollution, with the highest rate in Hebei province (15.0%, 95%UI: 12.0%-18.7%) and the lowest in Heilongjiang province (2.8%,95%UI: 0.9%-5.3%). In 2013, 67 485 COPD deaths in China were due to ambient ozone pollution, with the highest number in Sichuan province (11 929) and in China lowest in Macao (11). A total of 1.168 million DALYs caused by COPD were due to ambient ozone pollution, with the highest in Sichuan province (0.189 million) and lowest in Macao (257.4). In 2013, the DALY per 100 000 population caused by COPD due to ambient ozone pollution after age standardization was lowest in Heilongjiang province (21.9), Shanghai (26.7), Beijing (38.4), Tianjin (39.3), and Jilin province (39.7) and highest in Sichuan province (206.4), Qinghai province (202.5), Guizhou province (175.3), and Gansu province (171.4). DALYs caused by COPD attributable to ambient ozone pollution increased with age (0.144 million person years for ages 15-49 years, 0.43 million person years for age 50-69 years and 0.594 million person years for age 70 years and above), which were higher in men than in women (0.708 million person years for men and 0.459 million person years for women in 2013). Deaths of COPD attributable to ambient ozone pollution were 49 514 and 67 485 in 1990 and 2013, respectively. DALYs caused by COPD attributable to ozone pollution totaled 0.894 million and 1.168 million person years in 1990 and 2013, respectively. Ambient ozone pollution-related deaths and DALYs increased 36.3% and 30.6%, respectively. CONCLUSION Compared with 1990, the disease burden of COPD in 2013 attributed to ambient ozone pollution in China increased substantially. Ambient ozone pollution caused great losses among Chinese residents. More attention should be directed toward western provinces with a particularly high disease burden due to ambient ozone pollution.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To detect the expression of renal M-type phospholipase A2 receptor (PLA2R) in patients with idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN), and to explore the relationship between renal PLA2R and the curative effect of immunotherapy. METHODS A total of 56 patients who were diagnosed as IMN from January 2012 to June 2014 in the department of nephrology in First People's Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University, were included in this study. The expression of renal PLA2R was detected by immumofluorescence assay. The IMN patients were treated with corticosteroids and cyclophosphamide, and the relationship between renal PLA2R and the curative effect of immunotherapy was observed. RESULTS The ratio of PLA2R related IMN (renal PLA2R-positive) patients was 71.4%(40/56). The recovery conditions in proteinuria and serum albumin were better in the non-PLA2R related IMN group since 6 months after the treatment (P<0.05). The overall response rate in PLA2R related IMN group was 58.3%, 62.5% and 62.5% after 6, 9, 12 months, respectively. However, the overall response rate in non-PLA2R related IMN group almost reached 100% after treatment for 6 months. Compared with PLA2R related IMN group, the time which patients reached complete remission was significantly shorter in the non-PLA2R related IMN group [(5.4±3.5) vs (10.5±1.6) months, P<0.05]. CONCLUSIONS Detection of renal PLA2R can be helpful to diagnose IMN. Non-PLA2R related IMN patients usually have a better curative effect of immunotherapy and a shorter time to onset of efficacy.

Abstract
We demonstrate that the lin-par-lin Ramsey coherent population trapping 87Rb clock using a dispersion detection technique has a promising performance. We theoretically and experimentally investigate the signal-to-noise ratio of the Ramsey spectrum signal by varying the relative angle of the polarizer and analyzer as well as the magnetic field. Based on the experimental results, the optimized relative angle and magnetic field are determined. This kind of atomic clock is attractive for the development of compact, high performance vapor clock based on CPT.

Abstract
A novel and efficient method for fiber transfer delay measurement is demonstrated. Fiber transfer delay measurement in time domain is converted into the frequency measurement of the modulation signal in frequency domain, accompany with a coarse and easy ambiguity resolving process. This method achieves a sub-picosecond resolution, with an accuracy of 1 picosecond, and a large dynamic range up to 50 km as well as no measurement dead zone.

Abstract
Nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) is a transcription factor that regulates antioxidant and anti-inflammatory genes, and it plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Moreover, 15-deoxy-delta12,14-prostaglandin J2 (15d-PGJ2) plays a protective role against oxidative stress and inflammation both in vivo and in vitro. In a previous study, we found that 15d-PGJ2 increased the expression of Nrf2 in a COPD rat model. This study aims to elucidate the role of 15d-PGJ2 in COPD pathogenesis and the relationship between Nrf2 and human bronchial epithelial (HBE) cells. Normal HBE (HBE) cells were cultured. Following cigarette smoke extract (CSE) stimulation, pre-incubation with or without small interfering RNA (siRNA) Nrf2, and stimulation with or without 15d-PGJ2, the expression levels of Nrf2, NF-κBp65, and IL-8 were detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and western blot, respectively. The expression of NF-κBp65 and IL-8 in CSE-stimulated normal HBE cells was inhibited by 15d-PGJ2 at both the mRNA level and the protein level. Moreover, the expression of Nrf2 in normal HBE cells was improved by 15d-PGJ2 at both the mRNA level and the protein level. However, the inhibitory or improving effects of 15d-PGJ2 were disengaged by siRNA Nrf2 at both the mRNA level and the protein level. 15d-PGJ2 possesses anti-inflammatory properties in the pathogenesis of COPD, and HBE cells stimulated by CSE via Nrf2 activation.

Abstract
Insulin-like growth factor-binding proteins (IGFBPs) play a key role in modulating insulin-like growth factors (IGFs), and are considered candidate genes for growth traits in livestock. In this study, we identified the complete coding sequences of IGFBP-1 to -6 in the Nanjiang brown goat, and assessed gene tissue expression patterns by quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Expression of mRNA for the six gene targets was detectable in liver, heart, and longissimus dorsi (LD) muscle. Expression levels of IGFBP-1, -2 and -5 mRNA were higher in liver than in heart and LD muscle (P < 0.01), while IGFBP-6 expression was highest in LD muscle, and IGFBP-3 and -4 were predominantly expressed in LD muscle and liver. Higher IGFBP-2, -3, -4, and -6 mRNA levels were observed in LD, compared to triceps brachii muscle (P < 0.01). Additionally, the target genes had different temporal expression profiles during postnatal development. Histological assessment of muscle sections revealed a constant increase in muscle fiber diameter with aging. These results suggest that IGFBPs may be important for liver and skeletal muscle development, and may contribute to the biological function of these tissues in goats.

Abstract
Staphylococcus aureus has been detected indoors and is associated with human infection. Reliable quantification of S. aureus using a sampling technique followed by culture assay helps in assessing the risks of human exposure. The efficiency of five culture media and eight sampling methods in recovering S. aureus aerosols were evaluated. Methods to extract cells from filters were also studied. Tryptic soy agar (TSA) presented greater bacterial recovery than mannitol salt agar (MSA), CHROMagar staph aureus, Chapman stone medium, and Baird-Park agarose (P < 0.05). Moreover, 93 ± 2%-95 ± 2% and 42 ± 1%-49 ± 2% of S. aureus were, respectively, recovered by a 15-min heating of gelatin filters and 2-min vortex of polycarbonate (PC) filters. Evaluation of two filtration (IOM with gelatin filter and cassette with PC filter), two impaction (Andersen 1-STG loaded with TSA and MSA) and four impingement methods [AGI-30 and BioSampler filled with Tween mixture (TM) and phosphate-buffered saline (PBS)] revealed the BioSampler/TM performed best over 30 and 60 min of sampling (P < 0.05), while low recovery efficiencies were associated with the IOM/gelatin, cassette/PC, and AGI-30/PBS combinations (P < 0.05). In addition to BioSampler/TM, collecting S. aureus onto TSA from the Andersen 1-STG is also recommended, as it is the second best method at the 60-min sampling (P < 0.05).

Abstract
To maximize the islet isolation yield for successful islet transplantation, the key task has been to identify an ideal pancreas donor. Since implementation of the islet donor score in donor selection, we have consistently obtained higher islet yields and transplantation rates. In this study, we tested whether assessing donor height as an independent variable in combination with the donor score could improve the pancreas donor selection. Donor and islet isolation information (n = 22) were collected and studied between 2011 and 2012. Pearson correlation analysis was used in statistical analysis. Donor height as an independent variable was significantly correlated to the weight of the pancreas, pre-Islet Equivalents (pre-IEQ), post-IEQ, and IDS (P < .05). When donor with height of 179 cm ± 3 was selected in combination with IDS > 80, the clinical islet transplantation rate reached 80%.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We showed that T regulatory (Treg) cells can be attached to the surface of pancreatic islets providing local immunoprotection. Further optimization of the method can improve coating efficiency, which may prolong graft survival. In this study, we compared the effectiveness of two different molecules used for binding of the Tregs to the surface of pancreatic islets. Our aim was to increase the number of Treg cells attached to islets without compromising islets viability and function. METHODS The cell surface of human Treg cells and pancreatic islets was modified using biotin-polyethylene glycol-N-hydroxylsuccinimide (biotin-PEG-NHS) or biotin-PEG-succinimidyl valeric acid ester (biotin-PEG-SVA). Then, islets were incubated with streptavidin as islet/Treg cells binding molecule. Treg cells were stained with CellTracker CM-DiL dye and visualized using a Laser Scanning Confocal Microscope. The number of Treg cells attached per islets surface area was analyzed by Imaris software. The effect of coating on islet functionality was determined using the glucose-stimulated insulin response (GSIR) assay. RESULTS The coating procedure with biotin-PEG-SVA allowed for attaching 40% more Treg cells per 1 μm(2) of islet surface. Although viability was comparable, function of the islets after coating using the biotin-PEG-SVA molecule was better preserved than with NHS molecule. GSIR was 62% higher for islets coated with biotin-PEG-SVA compared to biotin-PEG-NHS. CONCLUSION Coating of islets with Treg cells using biotin-PEG-SVA improves effectiveness with better preservation of the islet function. Improvement of the method of coating pancreatic islets with Treg cells could further facilitate the effectiveness of this novel immunoprotective approach and translation into clinical settings.

Abstract
A microwave frequency standard based on laser-cooled (113)Cd(+) ions has been developed in recent years, and the short-term frequency instability is measured to be 6.1×10(-13)/√τ. By comparing the Cd(+) clock to a superior frequency reference, the ground-state hyperfine splitting of (113)Cd(+) is measured precisely to be 15199862855.0192(10) Hz with a fractional precision of 6.6×10(-14). This result is consistent with previous results, and the measurement precision is improved by nearly one order more than the best result reported before.

Abstract
To study the dissemination stability and phase noise characteristics of the cascaded fiber-based RF dissemination, we perform an experiment using three sets of RF modulated frequency dissemination systems. The experimental results show that the total transfer stability of the cascaded system can be given by σ(T)(2)=∑(i=1)(N)σ(i)(2) (σ(i) is the frequency dissemination stability of the ith segment and N is the quantity of segments). Furthermore, for each segment, the phase noise of recovered frequency signal is also measured. The results show that for an N-segment, cascaded dissemination system, its stability degrades only by a factor of N. This sub-linear relation makes the cascaded, RF-dissemination method a very attractive one for long-haul, time and frequency dissemination network.

Abstract
Frequency dissemination and synchronization in free space play an important role in global navigation satellite system, radio astronomy, and synthetic aperture radar. In this paper, we demonstrated a portable radio frequency dissemination scheme via free space using microwave antennas. The setup has a good environment adaptability and high dissemination stability. The frequency signal was disseminated at different distances ranging from 10 to 640 m with a fixed 10 Hz locking bandwidth, and the scaling law of dissemination stability on distance and averaging time was discussed. The preliminary extrapolation shows that the dissemination stability may reach 1 × 10(-12)/s in ground-to-satellite synchronization, which far exceeds all present methods, and is worthy for further study.

Abstract
The relationship between hepatitis B virus (HBV) gene polymorphism and intrauterine infection has not been completely illuminated. Six pairs of mother and infant from intrauterine infection group and six mothers from nonintrauterine infection group in the previous study were randomly selected and separately divided into group M (Mother group), group N (Neonate group) and group NM (Negative-mother group) in this study. We found that age, gestational weeks, HBsAg titre, HBeAg titre and HBV DNA level of mothers from group M and group NM were not significantly different. Pre-S1/S2 and S regions in HBV genome were amplified, inserted into pUC19 plasmid and sequenced. It was found that all clone sequences clustered into genotype C (AY123041) through the Genotyping tool in NCBI and phylogenetic trees. Compared with AY123041, there were 20 (11 plus 9) mutations significantly different in the three groups. Most of the mutations were synonymous in pre-S1/S2/S region, while mutations of C2990T, T3205A, A167G, C407A, A667T and A680C resulted in amino acid substitution of A90V, S162T, T47A, P127T, L213F and I218L, respectively. In addition, most of the 20 mutations caused amino acid substitution in polymerase region for the tight structure of HBV genome. The occurrence and location of mutations indicated that mutation of C2990T only existing in group NM may serve as an index for nonintrauterine infection. In contrast, the incidence of intrauterine HBV infection from mothers with mutation of T3205A was lower. Then, mutations of G403A, T670G, A673G, A167G, C407A, A667T and A680C may be closely related to intrauterine HBV infection.

Abstract
This study aimed to determine the effects of different concentrations of propofol
(2,6-diisopropylphenol) on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced expression and release of
high-mobility group box 1 protein (HMGB1) in mouse macrophages. Mouse macrophage cell
line RAW264.7 cells were randomly divided into 5 treatment groups. Expression levels
of HMGB1 mRNA were detected using RT-PCR, and cell culture
supernatant HMGB1 protein levels were detected using enzyme-linked immunosorbent
assay (ELISA). Translocation of HMGB1 from the nucleus to the cytoplasm in
macrophages was observed by Western blotting and activity of nuclear factor
kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB) in the nucleus was detected
using ELISA. HMGB1 mRNA expression levels increased significantly in
the cell culture supernatant and in cells after 24 h of stimulating RAW264.7 cells
with LPS (500 ng/mL). However, HMGB1 mRNA expression levels in the
P2 and P3 groups, which received 500 ng/mL LPS with 25 or 50 μmol/mL propofol,
respectively, were significantly lower than those in the group receiving LPS
stimulation (P<0.05). After stimulation by LPS, HMGB1 protein levels were reduced
significantly in the nucleus but were increased in the cytoplasm (P<0.05).
Simultaneously, the activity of NF-κB was enhanced significantly (P<0.05). After
propofol intervention, HMGB1 translocation from the nucleus to the cytoplasm and
NF-κB activity were inhibited significantly (each P<0.05). Thus, propofol can
inhibit the LPS-induced expression and release of HMGB1 by inhibiting HMGB1
translocation and NF-κB activity in RAW264.7 cells, suggesting propofol may be
protective in patients with sepsis.

Abstract
We investigated the clinical efficacy of adoptive cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cell and dendritic cell (DC) therapy plus intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for treating elderly patients with esophageal carcinoma (EC). In total, 68 elderly patients with EC were randomized to receive IMRT plus DC-CIK immunotherapy (study group, N = 34) or IMRT only (control group, N = 34). Clinical efficacy, immune function, toxicity and side effects, and life quality were evaluated after treatment. The efficacy rate was significantly higher in the study group than in the control group. Remarkable increases were noted for quality of life and immune function in the study group relative to the control group. Regarding toxicity and side effects, compared with the control group, the study group displayed a higher fever rate, a lower incidence rate of bone marrow suppression, and a similar rate of digestive tract reactions. DC-CIK immunotherapy plus IMRT exhibited better short-term efficacy than IMRT alone in elderly patients with EC. The therapy could improve patients'quality of life and immune function, decrease bone marrow suppression, and lengthen survival time.

Abstract
Staphylococcus aureus has been detected in indoor air and linked to human infection. Quantifying S. aureus by efficient sampling methods followed by appropriate sample storage treatments is essential to characterize the exposure risk of humans. This laboratory study evaluated the effects of sampler type (all-glass impinger (AGI-30), BioSampler, and Andersen one-stage sampler (Andersen 1-STG)), collection fluid (deionized water (DW), phosphate-buffered saline (PBS), and Tween mixture (TM)), and sampling time (3-60 min) on cell recovery. Effects of storage settings on bacterial concentration were also assessed over 48 h. Results showed BioSampler performed better than Andersen 1-STG and AGI-30 (P < 0.05) and TM was superior to PBS and DW (P < 0.05). An increase in sampling time negatively affected the recoveries of cells in PBS of BioSampler and AGI-30 (P < 0.05), whereas cell recoveries in TM were increased at sampling of 6-15 min compared with 3 min. Concentrations of cells collected in PBS were decreased with storage time at 4 and 23 °C (P < 0.05), while cells stored in TM showed stable concentrations at 4 °C (P > 0.05) and increased cell counts at 23 °C (P < 0.05). Overall, sampling by BioSampler with TM followed by sample transportation and storage at 4 °C is recommended.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is thought to be involved in the pathophysiology of bipolar disorder (BD) and metabolic syndrome. We investigated the correlation between plasma BDNF with mood symptoms and metabolic indices in patients with BD-II over a 12-week pharmacological intervention. METHOD Drug-naïve patients with BD-II (n=117) were recruited. Metabolic profiles [cholesterol, triglyceride, HbA1C, fasting serum glucose, body mass index (BMI)] and plasma BDNF wtrun "tblautotrun "tblsctrun "tbl_contere measured at baseline and 2, 8, and 12 weeks after beginning medication. To adjust within-subject dependence over repeated assessments, multiple linear regressions with generalized estimating equation methods were used. RESULTS Seventy-six (65.0%) patients completed the intervention. Plasma BDNF levels were significantly associated with BMI (P=9.6E-5), low-density lipoprotein (P=0.034) and total (P=0.001) cholesterol, but not with the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale-17 and Young Mania Rating Scale scores over the 12-week treatment. CONCLUSION We found initial evidence of a positive correlation between plasma BDNF levels and BMI, low-density lipoprotein and total cholesterol in drug-naïve patients with BD-II. The specific function of BDNF in regulating and maintaining peripheral metabolic health requires additional investigation.

Abstract
We experimentally demonstrate a convenient technique for in situ fine group velocity dispersion (GVD) tailoring in optical microfibers via dielectric nanocoatings. This was elaborated by successively depositing poly-dimethylsiloxane (PDMS) nanocoatings around a 1.2 μm-diameter optical microfiber with a modified dip-coating method. In situ dispersion measurements showed that the GVD was tailored by 55 ps/nm•km at 1580 nm, and the zero-dispersion wavelength (ZDW) was red shifted by 30 nm. Numerical simulations showed that GVD tailoring in optical microfibers could bring signal (idler) tuning in spontaneous four-wave mixing (FWM) and spectral bandwidth expanding in supercontinuum (SC) generation, implying that this in situ fine GVD tailoring technique would offer optical microfibers with many new opportunities for applications in nonlinear optics.

Abstract
For the applications in precision measurement such as absolute gravimeter, we have designed and built an ultra-low frequency vertical vibration isolator based on LaCoste spring linkage. In the system, an arm with test mass is suspended by a mechanical extension spring, and one end of the arm is connected to the frame with flexible pivots. The displacement of the arm is detected by an optical reflection method. With the displacement signal, a feedback control force is exerted on the arm to keep it at the balance position. This method can also correct the systematic drift caused by temperature change. In order to study the vibration isolation performance of the system, we analyze the dynamic characteristics of the spring linkage in the general case, and present key methods to adjust the natural oscillating period of the system. With careful adjustment, the system can achieve a steady oscillation with a natural period up to 32 s. This isolator has been tested based on the T-1 absolute gravimeter. A statistical uncertainty of 2 μGal has been achieved within a typical 12 h measurement. The experimental results verify that the isolator has significant vibration isolation performance, and it is very suitable for applications in high precision absolute gravity measurement.

Abstract
AIM To evaluate the early success of transarterial embolization (TAE) in patients with traumatic liver haemorrhage and to determine independent factors for its failure. MATERIALS AND METHODS From January 2009 to December 2012, TAE was performed in 48 patients for traumatic liver haemorrhage. Their medical charts were reviewed for demographic information, pre-TAE vital signs and laboratory data, injury grade, type of contrast medium extravasation (CME) at CT, angiography findings, and early failure. "Early failure" was defined as the need for repeated TAE or a laparotomy for hepatic haemorrhage within 4 days after TAE. Variables were compared between the early success and early failure groups. Variables with univariate significance were also analysed using multivariate logistic regression for predictors of early failure. RESULTS Among 48 liver TAE cases, nine (18.8%) were early failures due to liver haemorrhage. Early failure was associated with injury grade (p = 0.039), major liver injury (grades 4 and 5; p = 0.007), multiple CMEs at angiography (p = 0.031), incomplete TAE (p = 0.002), and elevated heart rate (p = 0.026). Incomplete embolization (OR = 8; p = 0.042), and heart rate >110 beats/min (bpm; OR = 8; p = 0.05) were independent factors for early failure of TAE in the group with major liver injuries. CONCLUSION Major hepatic injury is an important factor in early failure. Patients with a heart rate >110 bpm and incomplete embolization in the major injury group have an increased rate of early failure. The success rate of proximal TAE was comparable to that of the more time-consuming, superselective, distal TAE.

Abstract
We utilize a high quality calcium fluoride whispering-gallery-mode resonator to passively stabilize a simple erbium doped fiber ring laser with an emission frequency of 196THz (wavelength 1530nm) to an instantaneous linewidth below 650Hz. This corresponds to a relative stability of 3.3 × 10(-12) over 16μs. In order to characterize the linewidth we use two identical self-built lasers and a commercial laser to determine the individual lasing linewidth via the three-cornered-hat method. We further show that the lasers are finely tunable throughout the erbium gain region.

Abstract
We have demonstrated a method for laser frequency stability transfer using a fiber-based Young's interferometer. An 858 nm external cavity diode laser is stabilized to within 1e-8 from 10 s to 4000 s, referenced to a Rubidium stabilized 780 nm DBR diode laser using the interferometer as a frequency-stability-transferring link. The system is simple to build and can link any two laser wavelengths within the fiber operating range.

Abstract
Radiation-induced sterile insect technique is a biologically based, environment-friendly method for the suppression or eradication of a number of insect pests. Although the basic mechanisms underlying the technology have been well studied, little is known about the cell responses in organisms. Characterization of the metabolic shift associated with radiation exposure in sterile insects would be helpful for understanding the detailed mechanism underlying this technique and promote its practical application. In this article, a metabolomic study was performed to characterize the global metabolic changes induced by radiation using untreated and 40 Gy (60)Coγ-irradiated testes of Japanese pine sawyer, Monochamus alternatus Hope. Differential metabolites were detected and tentatively identified. Many key metabolites in glycolysis and the tricarboxylic acid cycle, as well as most fatty and amino acids, were elevated in irradiated male M. alternatus, presumably resulting from depression of glycolysis and the tricarboxylic acid cycle, each of which are important pathways for energy generation Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) in insect spermatozoa. The findings in this article will contribute to our knowledge of the characteristic metabolic changes associated with irradiation sterility and understand the molecular mechanisms underlying radiation-induced sterile insect technique.

Abstract
We present a convenient and versatile technique to functionalize microfibers by depositing sol-gel jackets via a modified dip-coating method. This was elucidated by gain-functionalizing microfibers with erbium-ytterbium codoped silica sol-gel jackets. For a 4.5-cm-long coated microfiber, an internal gain of 1.8 dB and a net gain of 0.8 dB for a 1550 nm signal were observed, when combing together the gain of the doped jackets and low loss of microfibers. With benefits of convenience and versatility, this technique can be used for functionalizing microfibers with jackets showing gains in other spectral ranges, high nonlinearity, high sensitivity, and many other functions.
