Pretibial epidermolysis bullosa: report of two families and review of the literature

Two pretibial epidermolysis bullosa families, with a total of four cases directly examined and another eight cases known from references, were studied. Both families showed an autosomal dominant inheritance. In one family there was a case of "bullous epidermolysis albo-papular of Pasini". All cases were compared with those of the literature.

Acantholytic keratosis

The histopathological and clinical aspects of 402 cases of actinic keratosis were studied. In 18 of them (4.4%) constant histopathological pictures of acantholysis with diskeratotic cells were observed in serial sections. In none of the other 384 actinic keratosis cases were these pictures observed. Acantholytic keratosis is a variety of actinic keratosis with histopathological characteristics of its own. It should be recognized as an entity distinct from the usually reported hypertrophic, atrophic, and bowenoid forms.
