Abstract
Using a sample of about 10^{10} J/ψ events collected at a center-of-mass energy sqrt[s]=3.097 GeV with the BESIII detector, the electromagnetic Dalitz decays J/ψ→e^{+}e^{-}π^{+}π^{-}η^{'}, with η^{'}→γπ^{+}π^{-} and η^{'}→π^{+}π^{-}η, have been studied. The decay J/ψ→e^{+}e^{-}X(1835) is observed with a significance of 15σ, and also an e^{+}e^{-} invariant-mass dependent transition form factor of J/ψ→e^{+}e^{-}X(1835) is presented for the first time. The intermediate states X(2120) and X(2370) are also observed in the π^{+}π^{-}η^{'} invariant-mass spectrum with significances of 5.3σ and 7.3σ. The corresponding product branching fractions for J/ψ→e^{+}e^{-}X, X→π^{+}π^{-}η^{'} [X=X(1835), X(2120), and X(2370)] are reported.

Evaluation of prognostic risk models for postoperative pulmonary complications in adult patients undergoing major abdominal surgery: a systematic review and international external validation cohort study. Lancet Digit Health 2022; 4:e520-e531. [PMID: 35750401 DOI: 10.1016/s2589-7500(22)00069-3] [Citation(s) in RCA: 10] [Impact Index Per Article: 5.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 08/15/2021] [Revised: 01/07/2022] [Accepted: 04/06/2022] [Indexed: 06/15/2023]
Abstract
BACKGROUND Stratifying risk of postoperative pulmonary complications after major abdominal surgery allows clinicians to modify risk through targeted interventions and enhanced monitoring. In this study, we aimed to identify and validate prognostic models against a new consensus definition of postoperative pulmonary complications. METHODS We did a systematic review and international external validation cohort study. The systematic review was done in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. We searched MEDLINE and Embase on March 1, 2020, for articles published in English that reported on risk prediction models for postoperative pulmonary complications following abdominal surgery. External validation of existing models was done within a prospective international cohort study of adult patients (≥18 years) undergoing major abdominal surgery. Data were collected between Jan 1, 2019, and April 30, 2019, in the UK, Ireland, and Australia. Discriminative ability and prognostic accuracy summary statistics were compared between models for the 30-day postoperative pulmonary complication rate as defined by the Standardised Endpoints in Perioperative Medicine Core Outcome Measures in Perioperative and Anaesthetic Care (StEP-COMPAC). Model performance was compared using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROCC). FINDINGS In total, we identified 2903 records from our literature search; of which, 2514 (86·6%) unique records were screened, 121 (4·8%) of 2514 full texts were assessed for eligibility, and 29 unique prognostic models were identified. Nine (31·0%) of 29 models had score development reported only, 19 (65·5%) had undergone internal validation, and only four (13·8%) had been externally validated. Data to validate six eligible models were collected in the international external validation cohort study. Data from 11 591 patients were available, with an overall postoperative pulmonary complication rate of 7·8% (n=903). None of the six models showed good discrimination (defined as AUROCC ≥0·70) for identifying postoperative pulmonary complications, with the Assess Respiratory Risk in Surgical Patients in Catalonia score showing the best discrimination (AUROCC 0·700 [95% CI 0·683-0·717]). INTERPRETATION In the pre-COVID-19 pandemic data, variability in the risk of pulmonary complications (StEP-COMPAC definition) following major abdominal surgery was poorly described by existing prognostication tools. To improve surgical safety during the COVID-19 pandemic recovery and beyond, novel risk stratification tools are required. FUNDING British Journal of Surgery Society.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Compared with young children who have acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL), adolescents with ALL have unfavourable disease profiles and worse survival. However, limited data are available regarding the characteristics and outcomes of adolescents with ALL who underwent treatment in clinical trials. The aim of this study was to investigate the causes of treatment failure in adolescents with ALL. METHODS We retrospectively analysed the outcomes of 711 children with ALL, aged 1-18 years, who were enrolled in five clinical trials of paediatric ALL treatment between 1993 and 2015. RESULTS Among the 711 children with ALL, 530 were young children (1-9 years at diagnosis) and 181 were adolescents (including 136 younger adolescents [10-14 years] and 45 older adolescents [15-18 years]). Compared with young children who had ALL, adolescents with ALL were less likely to have favourable genetic features and more likely to demonstrate poor early response to treatment. The 10-year overall survival and event-free survival rates were significantly lower among adolescents than among young children (77.9% vs 87.6%, P=0.0003; 69.7% vs 76.5%, P=0.0117). There were no significant differences in the 10-year cumulative incidence of relapse, but the 10-year cumulative incidence of treatment-related death (TRD) was significantly greater among adolescents (7.2%) than among young children (2.3%; P=0.002). Multivariable analysis showed that both younger and older adolescents (vs young children) had worse survival and greater incidence of TRD. CONCLUSION Adolescents with ALL had worse survival because they experienced a greater incidence of TRD. There is a need to investigate optimal treatment adjustments and novel targeted agents to achieve better survival rates (without excessive toxicity) among adolescents with ALL.

Abstract
This study aims to explore the clinical efficacy of arthroscopic-assisted reduction combined with robot-navigated nail placement in the treatment of talar neck fractures. The clinical data of 13 patients with talar neck fracture in Xuzhou Benevolent Hospital from January 2018 to January 2021 were analyzed in the retrospective study. Among them, there were 9 males and 4 females, aged (36±12) years; there were 8 cases suffered on the right and 5 cases on the left. All patients were reset under arthroscopy and cannulated screws were placed in combination with three-dimensional navigation and positioning of orthopedic robot. The wounds and complications were observed in the postoperative follow-up. The activities of bilateral ankle dorsiflexion and plantar flexion were measured in the last follow-up. The visual analogue scale score (VAS) of pain in the affected feet before operation were compared with that at the last follow-up. The ankle and hind foot work energy scale of American Foot and Ankle Association (AOFAS) was used to assess the ankle function. The results showed that the wounds of 13 patients healed in one stage. The operation time was (95±45) min and the blood lose was (45±10) ml. All the patients were followed-up for (15.0±3.5) months. Two cases developed subtalar arthritis without talus necrosis and fracture nonunion. At the last follow-up, there was no significant difference in the dorsal extension and plantar flexion of the ankle between the affected side and the healthy side (25.8°±1.9° vs 26.2°±2.3°, 44.2°±2.7° vs 44.7°±2.8°, both P>0.05). The VAS score of pain in the affected foot at the last follow-up was 0.53±0.18, it was significantly lower than that before operation (0.87±0.29) (P<0.001). The mean AOFAS ankle and hind foot energy scale of the ankle function was 93.5 at the last follow-up. It's showed that treatment of talus neck fracture with arthroscopy assisted and robot guided nail placement is satisfactory and is worthy of clinical promotion.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and toxicity profiles of idarubicin, cytarabine, and cyclophosphamide (IAC) in relapse/refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML) . Methods: This study was a prospective, randomized controlled clinical trial with the registration number NCT02937662. The patients were randomly divided into two groups. The experimental group was treated with an IAC regimen, and the regimen of the control group was selected by doctors according to medication experience. After salvage chemotherapy, allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) was conducted as far as possible according to the situation of the patients. We aimed to observe the efficacy, safety, and toxicity of the IAC regimen in relapse/refractory AML and to explore which is the better regimen. Results: Forty-two patients were enrolled in the clinical trial, with a median age of 36 years (IAC group, 22 cases and control groups, 20 cases) . ①The objective response rate was 71.4% in the IAC group and 40.0% in the control group (P=0.062) ; the complete remission (CR) rate was 66.7% in the IAC group and 40.0% in the control group (P=0.121) . The median follow-up time of surviving patients was 10.5 (range:1.7-32.8) months; the median overall survival (OS) was 14.1 (range: 0.6-49.1) months in the IAC group and 9.9 (range: 2.0-53.8) months in the control group (P=0.305) . The 1-year OS was 54.5% (95%CI 33.7%-75.3%) in the IAC group and 48.2% (95%CI 25.9%-70.5%) in the control group (P=0.305) , with no significant difference between these two regimens. ②The main hematologic adverse events (AEs) were anemia, thrombocytopenia, and neutropenia. The incidence of grade 3-4 hematologic AEs in the two groups was 100% (22/22) in the IAC group and 95% (19/20) in the control group. The median time of neutropenia after chemotherapy in the IAC group and control group was 20 (IQR: 8-30) and 14 (IQR: 5-50) days, respectively (P=0.023) . ③The CR rate of the early relapse (relapse within 12 months) group was 46.7% and that of the late relapse (relapse after 12 months) group was 72.7% (P=0.17) . The median OS time of early recurrence was 9.9 (range:1.7-53.8) months, and that of late recurrence patients was 19.3 (range: 0.6-40.8) months (P=0.420) , with no significant differences between the two groups. The 1-year OS rates were 45.3% (95%CI 27.2%-63.3%) and 66.7% (95%CI 40.0%-93.4%) , respectively (P=0.420) . Survival analysis showed that the 1-year OS rates of the hematopoietic stem cell transplantation group and non-hematopoietic stem cell transplantation group were 87.5% (95%CI 71.2%-100%) and 6.3% (95%CI 5.7%-18.3%) , respectively. The OS rate of the hematopoietic stem cell transplantation group was significantly higher than that of the non-hematopoietic stem cell transplantation group (P<0.001) . Conclusion: The IAC regimen is a well-tolerated and effective regimen in relapsed/refractory AML; this regimen had similar efficacy and safety with the regimen selected according to the doctor's experience for treating relapsed/refractory AML. For relapsed/refractory patients with AML, allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation should be attempted as soon as possible to achieve long-term survival.

Abstract
The singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay Λ_{c}^{+}→nπ^{+} is observed for the first time with a statistical significance of 7.3σ by using 3.9 fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} collision data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.612 and 4.699 GeV with the BESIII detector at BEPCII. The branching fraction of Λ_{c}^{+}→nπ^{+} is measured to be (6.6±1.2_{stat}±0.4_{syst})×10^{-4}. By taking the upper limit of branching fractions of Λ_{c}^{+}→pπ^{0} from the Belle experiment, the ratio of branching fractions between Λ_{c}^{+}→nπ^{+} and Λ_{c}^{+}→pπ^{0} is calculated to be larger than 7.2 at the 90% confidence level, which disagrees with most predictions of the available phenomenological models. In addition, the branching fractions of the Cabibbo-favored decays Λ_{c}^{+}→Λπ^{+} and Λ_{c}^{+}→Σ^{0}π^{+} are measured to be (1.31±0.08_{stat}±0.05_{syst})×10^{-2} and (1.22±0.08_{stat}±0.07_{syst})×10^{-2}, respectively, which are consistent with previous results.

[PMID: 35665211 PMCID: PMC9060116 DOI: 10.1002/ski2.82] [Citation(s) in RCA: 4] [Impact Index Per Article: 2.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Download PDF] [Figures] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 09/29/2021] [Revised: 11/20/2021] [Accepted: 11/24/2021] [Indexed: 12/15/2022]
Abstract
Background Porokeratosis (PK) is considered a skin‐specific autoinflammatory keratinization disease. Intriguingly, four causative genes of PK are in turn arranged in mevalonate pathway, with MVD variants being the commonest followed by MVK variants in a cohort of Chinese patients. Evidence indicates that mevalonate metabolites induce trained immunity in human monocytes and regulate T cells at multiple levels. Of note, γδT cells are dually regulated by intracellular and extracellular mevalonate metabolism. Aims To identify the possible differences in T‐cell between MVK or MVD variants from PK patients. Materials & Methods Targeted exome sequencing and exonic CNV screening were performed in 26 patients with PK. Sanger sequencing was used to validate all identified variants. Among them, 22 patients were identified with MVK or MVD variants. PBMCs from 22 PK patients and 27 normal controls (NCs) were analysed by flow cytometry for the frequencies of T cells subsets, including IFN‐γ‐, and TNF‐α‐producing T cells. Results There were 14 mutations identified in the 26 PK patients, including 6 novel mutations (MVK: c.118_226+1337dup, c.388_392delGATATinsC, c.613A>T, c.768G>C, and MVD: c.250C>T, c.988T>G). In contrast to NCs, significantly decreased frequencies of CD8+ and Vγ9Vδ2 T cells were observed in the PK patients with MVD variants. Moreover, it was found that dysregulated secretion of pro‐inflammatory cytokines by T cells in both PK patients with MVK and MVD variants. Conclusions Our findings enriched the Human Gene Mutation Databases and showed probable differences in peripheral T cells subsets between PK patients and controls.

ZHONGHUA GAN ZANG BING ZA ZHI = ZHONGHUA GANZANGBING ZAZHI = CHINESE JOURNAL OF HEPATOLOGY 2022; 30:30-37. Abstract
Objective: To observe the changes of serum uric acid levels and clinical characteristic in patients with chronic hepatitis C combined with hyperuricemia after direct antiviral agents (DAA) therapy. Methods: A prospective cohort study was used to investigate the risk of hyperuricemia in patients with chronic hepatitis C who received DAA treatment to obtain sustained virological response. The changes and factors influencing serum uric acid levels after 12 weeks of DAA treatment were observed. Comparisons between groups were performed using χ (2) test or Fisher's exact test, analysis of variance, Student's t test, or the non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test. Serum uric acid (SUA) changes, liver and kidney function indexes before and after treatment were compared by repeated measurement and paired t-test. Uric acid reduction was defined as a decrease in SUA from baseline at 12 weeks after treatment. Rates of change in eGFR, aspartate aminotransferase/platelet ratio, alanine aminotransferase and controlled attenuation parameter were defined from baseline (baseline to 12 weeks after treatment). Binary logistic regression analysis was used to compare the risk factors and factors influencing high and low uric acid level. Results: 161 cases with chronic hepatitis C who received DAA treatment were included, of which 19.3% patients were hyperuricemic. eGFR < 60 ml/(min·1.73 m(2)) and body mass index were independent risk factors for hyperuricemia in patients with chronic hepatitis C (eGFR: OR = 0.123, P = 0.002; body mass index: OR = 1.220, P = 0.002). SUA levels was changed significantly before treatment, at the end of treatment and at 12 weeks after treatment (327.96 vs. 320.76 vs. 314.92, F = 3.272, P = 0.042). At 12 weeks after treatment, SUA, liver stiffness, alanine aminotransferase and control attenuation parameters were all significantly lower than baseline (P < 0.05). The rate of increase in eGFR from baseline and the rate of decrease in controlled attenuation parameter during treatment were the factors influencing SUA reduction (eGFR: OR = 5124, P = 0.000; controlled attenuation index: OR = 0.010, P = 0.039). Conclusion: In chronic hepatitis C, reduced eGFR and body mass index are the risk factors for the development of hyperuricemia and a significant reduction in serum uric acid levels after DAA treatment can eradicate the virus.

Abstract
Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb^{-1} collected at a center-of-mass energy sqrt[s]=3.773 GeV by the BESIII detector, the decay D^{0}→ωϕ is observed for the first time. The branching fraction is measured to be (6.48±0.96±0.40)×10^{-4} with a significance of 6.3σ, where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. An angular analysis reveals that the ϕ and ω mesons from the D^{0}→ωϕ decay are transversely polarized. The 95% confidence level upper limit on longitudinal polarization fraction is set to be less than 0.24, which is inconsistent with current theoretical expectations and challenges our understanding of the underlying dynamics in charm meson decays.

Abstract
The first measurements of differential branching fractions of inclusive semileptonic B→X_{u}ℓ^{+}ν_{ℓ} decays are performed using the full Belle data set of 711 fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity at the ϒ(4S) resonance and for ℓ=e, μ. With the availability of these measurements, new avenues for future shape-function model-independent determinations of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |V_{ub}| can be pursued to gain new insights in the existing tension with respect to exclusive determinations. The differential branching fractions are reported as a function of the lepton energy, the four-momentum-transfer squared, light-cone momenta, the hadronic mass, and the hadronic mass squared. They are obtained by subtracting the backgrounds from semileptonic B→X_{c}ℓ^{+}ν_{ℓ} decays and other processes, and corrected for resolution and acceptance effects.

Abstract
Using a dataset of 6.32 fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} annihilation data collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4178 and 4226 MeV, we have measured the absolute branching fraction of the leptonic decay D_{s}^{+}→τ^{+}ν_{τ} via τ^{+}→e^{+}ν_{e}ν[over ¯]_{τ}, and find B_{D_{s}^{+}→τ^{+}ν_{τ}}=(5.27±0.10±0.12)×10^{-2}, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The precision is improved by a factor of 2 compared to the previous best measurement. Combining with f_{D_{s}^{+}} from lattice quantum chromodynamics calculations or the |V_{cs}| from the CKMfitter group, we extract |V_{cs}|=0.978±0.009±0.012 and f_{D_{s}^{+}}=(251.1±2.4±3.0) MeV, respectively. Combining our result with the world averages of B_{D_{s}^{+}→τ^{+}ν_{τ}} and B_{D_{s}^{+}→μ^{+}ν_{μ}}, we obtain the ratio of the branching fractions B_{D_{s}^{+}→τ^{+}ν_{τ}}/B_{D_{s}^{+}→μ^{+}ν_{μ}}=9.72±0.37, which is consistent with the standard model prediction of lepton flavor universality.

Abstract
Abstract
Aim
Traditionally, the UK has been highly regarded as a place for doctors to pursue undergraduate medical training and postgraduate training. However, recent reports show that more than 40% of UK-graduate doctors leave the country to pursue specialty training elsewhere. This paper aims to identify and evaluate the motivating factors for UK graduates to leave the NHS.
Method
An anonymised questionnaire was disseminated at a webinar series regarding the application process to pursue residency overseas. The data was independently analysed by two reviewers. A one-way ANOVA (with Tukey’s Post Hoc test) was utilised to compare the difference between motivating factors. Results were considered statistically significant for p-values <0.05.
Results
1,118 responses from the UK medical students and doctors were collected; of which, 1,001 (89.5%) were medical students, and 88 (7.9%) were junior doctors. There was a higher preference for leaving after the Foundation Programme compared to the other periods (p < 0.0001). There was no difference between leaving after core surgical/medical training and specialty training (p = 0.549). However, both were significantly higher than leaving the NHS after medical school (p < 0.0001). Quality of life and financial prospects (both P-corrected<0.0001 compared individually and to other groups) were the most agreed reasons to leave the NHS, followed by clinical and academic opportunities and, subsequently, family reasons.
Conclusions
Future work on the quality of life for doctors in the UK, especially for prospective surgical trainees, should be explored. Policymakers should focus on assessing the difference in working hours, on-call hours or wages that may differ among the healthcare systems.

Abstract
Using 2.93 fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} collision data taken with the BESIII detector at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV, the observation of the D^{0}→K_{1}(1270)^{-}e^{+}ν_{e} semileptonic decay is presented. The statistical significance of the decay D^{0}→K_{1}(1270)^{-}e^{+}ν_{e} is greater than 10σ. The branching fraction of D^{0}→K_{1}(1270)^{-}e^{+}ν_{e} is measured to be (1.09±0.13_{-0.16}^{+0.09}±0.12)×10^{-3}. Here, the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third originates from the assumed branching fraction of K_{1}(1270)^{-}→K^{-}π^{+}π^{-}. The fraction of longitudinal polarization in D^{0}→K_{1}(1270)^{-}e^{+}ν_{e} is determined for the first time to be 0.50±0.19_{stat}±0.08_{syst}.

Abstract
Using data samples of 89.5 and 711 fb^{-1} recorded at energies of sqrt[s]=10.52 and 10.58 GeV, respectively, with the Belle detector at the KEKB e^{+}e^{-} collider, we report measurements of branching fractions of semileptonic decays Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}ℓ^{+}ν_{ℓ} (ℓ=e or μ) and the CP-asymmetry parameter of Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}π^{+} decay. The branching fractions are measured to be B(Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}e^{+}ν_{e})=(1.31±0.04±0.07±0.38)% and B(Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}μ^{+}ν_{μ})=(1.27±0.06±0.10±0.37)%, and the decay parameter α_{Ξπ} is measured to be 0.63±0.03±0.01 with much improved precision compared with the current world average. The corresponding ratio B(Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}e^{+}ν_{e})/B(Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}μ^{+}ν_{μ}) is 1.03±0.05±0.07, which is consistent with the expectation of lepton flavor universality. The first measured asymmetry parameter A_{CP}=(α_{Ξ^{-}π^{+}}+α_{Ξ[over ¯]^{+}π^{-}})/(α_{Ξ^{-}π^{+}}-α_{Ξ[over ¯]^{+}π^{-}})=0.024±0.052±0.014 is found to be consistent with zero. The first and the second uncertainties above are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third ones arise due to the uncertainty of the Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}π^{+} branching fraction.

Abstract
The absolute branching fraction of Λ→pμ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ} is reported for the first time based on an e^{+}e^{-} annihilation sample of 10×10^{9} J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector at sqrt[s]=3.097 GeV. The branching fraction is determined to be B(Λ→pμ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ})=[1.48±0.21(stat)±0.08(syst)]×10^{-4}, which is improved by about 30% in precision over the previous indirect measurements. Combining this result with the world average of B(Λ→pe^{-}ν[over ¯]_{e}), we obtain the ratio {[Γ(Λ→pμ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ})]/[Γ(Λ→pe^{-}ν[over ¯]_{e})]} to be 0.178±0.028, which agrees with the standard model prediction assuming lepton flavor universality. The asymmetry of the branching fractions of Λ→pμ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ} and Λ[over ¯]→p[over ¯]μ^{+}ν_{μ} is also determined, and no evidence for CP violation is found.

Abstract
PURPOSE To investigate the effect of endovascular embolization of posterior communicating artery (Pcom) aneurysms on concomitant oculomotor nerve palsy (OMNP) and factors affecting the effect of treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS Patients with the Pcom aneurysms concomitant with OMNP were retrospectively enrolled for endovascular treatment of the aneurysms. All patients had the endovascular management. The clinical effect, degree of OMNP, size of the aneurysm, type of treatment, subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), and time from onset to treatment were analyzed on the resolution of OMNP. RESULTS Ninety-six patients with 99 Pcom aneurysms were enrolled and treated endovascularly, with the success rate of 100%. Immediately after endovascular treatment, 75 aneurysms (75.75%) got complete occlusion, and 24 (24.24%) nearly complete occlusion. Followed up for 3-18 (mean 8.52±0.56) months, complete resolution of the OMNP was achieved in 63 patients (65.63%), partial resolution in 21 (21.88%), and non-recovery in the other 12 (12.50%). The degree of OMNP at onset, SAH, and time from onset to treatment were significantly (P<0.05) correlated with the resolution of OMNP. Univariate analysis revealed that younger age of the patient, degree of OMNP at onset, presence of subarachnoid hemorrhage, and time from disease onset to treatment were significantly (P<0.05) associated with the recovery of OMNP. Multivariate analysis revealed that the younger age, degree of OMNP at onset, and time from disease onset to treatment were significantly (P<0.05) associated with the recovery of OMNP. CONCLUSION Endovascular embolization of Pcom aneurysms concomitant with OMNP can effectively improve the OMNP symptoms, especially for patients with moderate and a shorter history of OMNP. Younger age, degree of oculomotor nerve palsy at onset, and time from onset to treatment may significantly affect recovery of oculomotor nerve palsy.

Abstract
We report a measurement of the observed cross sections of e^{+}e^{-}→J/ψX based on 3.21 fb^{-1} of data accumulated at energies from 3.645 to 3.891 GeV with the BESIII detector operated at the BEPCII collider. In analysis of the cross sections, we measured the decay branching fractions of B(ψ(3686)→J/ψX)=(64.4±0.6±1.6)% and B(ψ(3770)→J/ψX)=(0.5±0.2±0.1)% for the first time. The energy-dependent line shape of these cross sections cannot be well described by two Breit-Wigner (BW) amplitudes of the expected decays ψ(3686)→J/ψX and ψ(3770)→J/ψX. Instead, it can be better described with one more BW amplitude of the decay R(3760)→J/ψX. Under this assumption, we extracted the R(3760) mass M_{R(3760)}=3766.2±3.8±0.4 MeV/c^{2} , total width Γ_{R(3760)}^{tot}=22.2±5.9±1.4 MeV, and product of leptonic width and decay branching fraction Γ_{R(3760)}^{ee}B[R(3760)→J/ψX]=(79.4±85.5±11.7) eV. The significance of the R(3760) is 5.3σ. The first uncertainties of these measured quantities are from fits to the cross sections and second systematic.

Abstract
Abstract
Introduction
To evaluate the medical school undergraduate curriculum on faecal incontinence (FI) and develop an educational tool to improve the teaching on the subject.
Method
Qualitative analysis of literature research and data collected from medical students via emails, questionnaires and focused group discussions.
Result
FI has not been implanted into the undergraduate curriculum 12,13 and there are variations in teaching on the topic in different medical schools. n= 111 medical students at Cardiff University responded to the survey. FI was reported to be overlooked compared to other types of bowel dysfunction. 38 students reported to have teaching on bowel incontinence, whereas 64 and 74 students had teaching on diarrhoea and constipation respectively. 77% of medical students would like more teaching on bowel incontinence. 9 students participated in a focused group discussion. An interactive e-learning module from Xerte was created based on the students' suggestions and were trialed by a separate cohort of students (n=20). All 20 students showed significant improvement of students' confidence in faecal incontinence (p <= 2.132e∧-6) after completing the e-learning module.
Conclusion
We recommend introducing the educational resource into the undergraduate curriculum of Cardiff University medical school, especially targeting the clinical year, a clear guidance for FI should be published by the relevant postgraduate healthcare faculties and consider assessing at which stage of the postgraduate training should FI be taught.
Take-home message
Baseline knowledge of FI is poor. Lack of content in medical school curriculum and E learning modules potentially useful adjuncts.

Abstract
We report a study of the processes of e^{+}e^{-}→K^{+}D_{s}^{-}D^{*0} and K^{+}D_{s}^{*-}D^{0} based on e^{+}e^{-} annihilation samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at BEPCII at five center-of-mass energies ranging from 4.628 to 4.698 GeV with a total integrated luminosity of 3.7 fb^{-1}. An excess of events over the known contributions of the conventional charmed mesons is observed near the D_{s}^{-}D^{*0} and D_{s}^{*-}D^{0} mass thresholds in the K^{+} recoil-mass spectrum for events collected at sqrt[s]=4.681 GeV. The structure matches a mass-dependent-width Breit-Wigner line shape, whose pole mass and width are determined as (3982.5_{-2.6}^{+1.8}±2.1) MeV/c^{2} and (12.8_{-4.4}^{+5.3}±3.0) MeV, respectively. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The significance of the resonance hypothesis is estimated to be 5.3 σ over the contributions only from the conventional charmed mesons. This is the first candidate for a charged hidden-charm tetraquark with strangeness, decaying into D_{s}^{-}D^{*0} and D_{s}^{*-}D^{0}. However, the properties of the excess need further exploration with more statistics.

Abstract
We present an analysis of the process ψ(3686)→Ω^{-}Ω[over ¯]^{+} (Ω^{-}→K^{-}Λ, Ω[over ¯]^{+}→K^{+}Λ[over ¯], Λ→pπ^{-}, Λ[over ¯]→p[over ¯]π^{+}) based on a dataset of 448×10^{6} ψ(3686) decays collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII electron-positron collider. The helicity amplitudes for the process ψ(3686)→Ω^{-}Ω[over ¯]^{+} and the decay parameters of the subsequent decay Ω^{-}→K^{-}Λ (Ω[over ¯]^{+}→K^{+}Λ[over ¯]) are measured for the first time by a fit to the angular distribution of the complete decay chain, and the spin of the Ω^{-} is determined to be 3/2 for the first time since its discovery more than 50 years ago.

ZHONGHUA ER BI YAN HOU TOU JING WAI KE ZA ZHI = CHINESE JOURNAL OF OTORHINOLARYNGOLOGY HEAD AND NECK SURGERY 2020; 55:837-844. [PMID: 32911886 DOI: 10.3760/cma.j.cn115330-20200306-00168] [Citation(s) in RCA: 1] [Impact Index Per Article: 0.3] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 11/05/2022]
Abstract
Objective: To investigate the different expression of galectin-10 in nasal polyps with different degrees of eosinophil infiltration, and to explore whether galectin-10 can be used as a new biomarker of eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (ECRSwNP) and its possible role in the pathogenesis of ECRSwNP. Methods: A total of 36 patients (20 males, 16 females, aged from 14 to 74 years old) who underwent functional endoscopic sinus surgery at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from November 2018 to April 2019 were enrolled into the retrospective study, including 11 cases of ECRSwNP, 15 cases of non-ECRSwNP and 10 cases in control group (deviation of nasal septum). The patients were divided into allergic rhinitis and non-allergic rhinitis groups, atopy and non-atopy groups according to whether patients in the experimental group and control group had allergic rhinitis and atopy. HE staining was performed for histological assessment of CRSwNP which was classfied as ECRSwNP and non-ECRSwNP. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) was used to determine the positive localization and semi-quantitative expression level of galectin-10 protein in ERSwNP, non-ECRSwNP and control groups. The expression levels of galectin-10 protein in three groups were determined by Western Blot. The expression levels of galectin-10 mRNA in three groups were determined using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Analyzing the correlation between the expression of galectin-10 and clinical factors including the allergic rhinitis and atopy, SPSS 19.0 software and Graphpad prism 7.0 were used for statistical analysis and mapping. Results: By using IHC method, it was found that galectin-10 was mainly localized in eosinophils in the polyp tissues. The semi-quantitative expression of the galectin-10 in the ECRSwNP group (0.051±0.003) was significantly higher than that of non-ECRSwNP (0.028±0.004) and control groups (0.025±0.004, t value was 3.862 and 5.137, both P<0.01). There was no significant difference between the control and non-ECRSwNP groups (t=0.560, P>0.05). The expression of galectin-10 in the ECRSwNP group was significantly higher than that of non-ECRSwNP and control groups (t value was 25.351 and 27.376, both P<0.01). However, there was no significant difference between the non-ECRSwNP and control groups (t=1.071, P>0.05). Compared with the non-ECRSwNP (1.188±0.054) and control groups (1.020±0.142), the expression of galectin-10 mRNA was higher in the ECRSwNP group (2.413±0.303), the differences were significant (t value was 3.973 and 4.156, both P<0.05). There was no significant difference between the non-ECRSwNP and control groups (t=1.110, P>0.05). There was no significant difference in the expression of galectin-10 between the allergic rhinitis group and the non-allergic rhinitis group (all P>0.05), so as to the atopy group and non-atopy group(all P>0.05). Conclusion: The expression level of galectin-10 is elevated in ECRSwNP, and not influenced by allergic status, suggesting that galectin-10 may be a new biomarker for ECRSwNP and play an important role in the pathogenesis of ECRSwNP.

Observation of the Doubly Cabibbo-Suppressed Decay D^{+}→K^{+}π^{+}π^{-}π^{0} and Evidence for D^{+}→K^{+}ω. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2020; 125:141802. Abstract
Using 2.93 fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} collision data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, the first observation of the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay D^{+}→K^{+}π^{+}π^{-}π^{0} is reported. After removing decays that contain narrow intermediate resonances, including D^{+}→K^{+}η, D^{+}→K^{+}ω, and D^{+}→K^{+}ϕ, the branching fraction of the decay D^{+}→K^{+}π^{+}π^{-}π^{0} is measured to be (1.13±0.08_{stat}±0.03_{syst})×10^{-3}. The ratio of branching fractions of D^{+}→K^{+}π^{+}π^{-}π^{0} over D^{+}→K^{-}π^{+}π^{+}π^{0} is found to be (1.81±0.15)%, which corresponds to (6.28±0.52)tan^{4}θ_{C}, where θ_{C} is the Cabibbo mixing angle. This ratio is significantly larger than the corresponding ratios for other doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decays. The asymmetry of the branching fractions of charge-conjugated decays D^{±}→K^{±}π^{±}π^{∓}π^{0} is also determined, and no evidence for CP violation is found. In addition, the first evidence for the D^{+}→K^{+}ω decay, with a statistical significance of 3.3σ, is presented and the branching fraction is measured to be B(D^{+}→K^{+}ω)=(5.7_{-2.1}^{+2.5}_{stat}±0.2_{syst})×10^{-5}.

Abstract
Novel duck reovirus (NDRV), the prototype strain of avian orthoreoviruses, continues to circulate among ducks. Analysis of its genome suggested that a putative second open reading frame in the S1 segment encodes a 162-amino acid nonstructural protein with size of 18 kDa, provisionally designated P18. This protein is different from the 17 kDa nonstructural protein encoded in the same open reading frame in other avian orthoreoviruses, which is designated P17 and consists of 146 amino acids. There is no corresponding protein in Muscovy duck reovirus. Antibodies raised to the purified recombinant protein reacted with viral P18 both in vitro and in vivo. In cells, P18 was located predominantly in the nucleus at 6-12 h post-infection, with negligible levels in the cytoplasm. However, the protein accumulated both in the nucleus and cytoplasm at 24 to 36 h post-infection. Immunohistochemistry indicated that P18 strongly accumulates in spleen tissues of infected ducklings. Collectively, the data provide the direct experimental evidence that P18 is expressed by novel duck reovirus both in vivo and in vitro. Keywords: duck reovirus; expression; characterization; novel P18 protein.
