Abstract
Bisphosphonate (BP), a group of anti-resorptive drugs, has been widely used for the treatments of osteoporosis and metastatic bone diseases. Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ), a serious well-recognized complication of patients receiving BP, adversely affects patients' oral health and quality of life. Its clinical signs include pain, bone exposure and necrosis of the jaws. Invasive oral treatments, which may affect the repair of jaws in patients using BP, could cause the occurrence of MRONJ. Therefore, it is important to avoid the risk factors of MRONJ and to standardize the operations in order to reduce the occurrence of MRONJ in oral treatments for patients receiving BP. After reviewing the related literature, this article aims to conclude the research progress on the standardized oral treatments of patients receiving BP and to provide clinical instructions for clinicians to treat these patients.

Abstract
Background Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a major component of extracellular matrix (ECM) and its over expression in tumor tissues contributes to the increase of interstitial fluid pressure (IFP) and hinders the penetration of nanoparticles into solid tumors. Materials and Methods We here reported a tumoral microenvironment responsive multistage drug delivery system (NPs-EPI/HAase) which was formed layer by layer via electrostatic interaction with epirubicin (EPI)-loaded PEG-b-poly(2-(diisopropylamino)ethyl methacrylate)-b-poly(2-guanidinoethylmethacrylate) (mPEG-PDPA-PG, PEDG) micelles (NPs-EPI) and hyaluronidase (HAase). In this paper, we focused on the hyaluronidase-combined nanoparticles (NPs-EPI/HAase) for tumor penetration in tumor spheroid and solid tumor models in vitro and in vivo. Results Our results showed that NPs-EPI/HAase effectively degrade the HA in ECM and facilitate deep penetration of NPs-EPI into solid tumor. Moreover, NPs-EPI mainly employed clathrin-mediated and macropinocytosis-mediated endocytic pathways for cellular uptake and were subsequently directed to the lysosomes for further drug release triggered by proton sponge effect. Compared with NPs-EPI, the HAase coating group showed an enhanced tumoral drug delivery efficacy and inhibition of tumor growth. Conclusion Overall, our studies demonstrated that coating nanoparticles with HAase can provide a simple but efficient strategy for nano-drug carriers to enhance solid tumor penetration and chemotherapeutic efficacy.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effect of sleep fragmentation on perioperative neurocognitive disorders (PND) and central neuroinflammation by simulating sleep patterns of postoperative patients with sleep fragmentation in aged mice. Methods: Thirty-two elderly ICR mice were randomly divided into four groups (n=8): normal group (C), surgery group (S), fragmented sleep group (F), and surgery+fragmented sleep group (D). Fragmented sleep was conducted after internal fixation of tibia fractures, cognitive function was evaluated by novel object recognition (NOR) and fear conditioning (FC) test, and changes in expression of inflammatory cytokines in hippocampus were detected by ELISA. Results: NOR test: the recognition index (RI) of mice in group C, group S, group F and group D was 0.69±0.07, 0.48±0.07, 0.54±0.10 and 0.50±0.12, respectively. The RI of mice in group S, group F and group D was significantly lower than that in group C (t=4.885, 3.521 and 4.433, all P<0.01). There was no significant difference in RI between group S and group D (t=0.967 1, P>0.05). Contextual FC test: the freezing time of mice in group C, group S, group F and group D was(21.34±6.48), (13.83±4.26), (11.50±6.25) and (6.17±4.77) s, respectively. The freezing time of mice in group S, group F and group D was significantly lower than that in group C (t=2.722, 3.566, 5.496, P<0.05 or P<0.01). The freezing time of mice in group D was significantly lower than that in group S (t=2.774, P<0.05). Cue FC test: the freezing time of mice in group C, group S, group F and group D was (74.36±17.09), (43.91±9.71), (46.34±13.43) and (24.90±14.21) s, respectively. The freezing time of mice in group S, group F and group D was significantly lower than that in group C (t=4.393, 4.043 and 7.136, all P<0.01). The freezing time of mice in group D was significantly lower than that in group S (t=2.743, P<0.05). The levels of TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-1β in hippocampus of mice in group S, F and D were significantly higher than those in group C, while the levels of TNF-α and IL-6 in hippocampus of mice in group D were significantly higher than those in group S, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Conclusion: Postoperative fragmented sleep aggravates postoperative cognitive impairment and increases the hippocampal neuroinflammation in aged mice.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In acute ischemic stroke, there is uncertainty regarding the benefit and risk of administering intravenous alteplase before endovascular thrombectomy. METHODS We conducted a trial at 41 academic tertiary care centers in China to evaluate endovascular thrombectomy with or without intravenous alteplase in patients with acute ischemic stroke. Patients with acute ischemic stroke from large-vessel occlusion in the anterior circulation were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to undergo endovascular thrombectomy alone (thrombectomy-alone group) or endovascular thrombectomy preceded by intravenous alteplase, at a dose of 0.9 mg per kilogram of body weight, administered within 4.5 hours after symptom onset (combination-therapy group). The primary analysis for noninferiority assessed the between-group difference in the distribution of the modified Rankin scale scores (range, 0 [no symptoms] to 6 [death]) at 90 days on the basis of a lower boundary of the 95% confidence interval of the adjusted common odds ratio equal to or larger than 0.8. We assessed various secondary outcomes, including death and reperfusion of the ischemic area. RESULTS Of 1586 patients screened, 656 were enrolled, with 327 patients assigned to the thrombectomy-alone group and 329 assigned to the combination-therapy group. Endovascular thrombectomy alone was noninferior to combined intravenous alteplase and endovascular thrombectomy with regard to the primary outcome (adjusted common odds ratio, 1.07; 95% confidence interval, 0.81 to 1.40; P = 0.04 for noninferiority) but was associated with lower percentages of patients with successful reperfusion before thrombectomy (2.4% vs. 7.0%) and overall successful reperfusion (79.4% vs. 84.5%). Mortality at 90 days was 17.7% in the thrombectomy-alone group and 18.8% in the combination-therapy group. CONCLUSIONS In Chinese patients with acute ischemic stroke from large-vessel occlusion, endovascular thrombectomy alone was noninferior with regard to functional outcome, within a 20% margin of confidence, to endovascular thrombectomy preceded by intravenous alteplase administered within 4.5 hours after symptom onset. Abstract
Thermal conductivity is an essential thermodynamic property in chemical engineering application. As a result, estimating the thermal conductivity of organic compounds is of significance in industry production. Alkyl halides are important organic intermediates and raw materials, but little investigations have been performed to estimate their thermal conductivity. In this study, the structures of compounds were optimized in Gaussian 09W and molecular descriptors were extracted by Dragon software. Finally, we developed a 6-descriptor linear quantitative structure-property relationship (QSPR) model to estimate the thermal conductivity of alkyl halides using the genetic function approximation (GFA) method. Validation proved that the developed model had goodness-of-fit, robustness and predictive ability. The r2pred and root-mean-square error (RMSEP) of prediction set for the model were equal to 0.9745 and 0.0035, respectively. Meanwhile, the applicability domain was visualized by means of the Williams plot. This study provides a new model for estimating the thermal conductivity of this important class of chemicals.

Abstract
Objective:The characteristics of pathological histological classification of nasal and paranasal sinuses malignant tumors in the past 10 years were analyzed, so as to provide possible basis, direction and ideas for the development of relevant effective treatment measures for nasal and paranasal sinuses malignant tumors in clinical practice. Method:The clinical data of patients with nasal and paranasal sinuses malignant tumors admitted to PLA general hospital from January 2009 to December 2018 were collected. Pathological types were retrospectively analyzed, and disease spectrum distribution, composition ratio and variation tendency of these patients were calculated. Result:Among the 463 patients, the overall pathological types in the top 5 were as follows: squamous cell carcinoma, adenoid cystadenocarcinoma, olfactory neuroblastoma, melanoma, adenocarcinoma. As for male patients, the pathological types in the top 5 were squamous cell carcinoma, adenoid cystic carcinoma, olfactory neuroblastoma, adenocarcinoma, neuroendocrine carcinoma and rhabdomyosarcoma were tied for fifth; the top 5 most common pathological types in female patients were squamous cell carcinoma, adenoid cystic carcinoma, melanoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, and adenocarcinoma. From 2009 to 2013, there were 183 patients with nasal and paranasal sinuses malignant tumors, the top 5 pathological types were squamous cell carcinoma, adenoid cystadenocarcinoma, olfactory neuroblastoma, melanoma, neuroendocrine carcinoma and rhabdomyosarcoma were tied for fifth; From 2014 to 2018, 280 patients with nasal and paranasal sinuses malignant tumors were diagnosed, the top 5 pathological types were squamous cell carcinoma, adenoid cystadenocarcinoma, melanoma, adenocarcinoma, and rhabdomyosarcoma. The ratio of the number of patients from 2009 to 2013 and 2014 to 2018 was about 0.65∶1. Malignant tumors of the nasal and paranasal sinuses tend to occur between the ages of 41 and 60, and the pathological types in the top 5 were squamous cell carcinoma, adenoid cystic carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, melanoma, neuroendocrine carcinoma. Conclusion:Malignant tumors of nasal cavity and sinus were more common in male, and the pathological types such as squamous cell carcinoma, adenoid cystic carcinoma, olfactory neuroblastoma were more common. All age groups have the disease, but the age group of 41-60 years old is the high-risk group of nasal and nasal sinus malignant tumors. However, the incidence rate of melanoma has gradually increased in the past five years, which needs to be paid more attention to.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of methylene blue (MB) on renal ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury in mice and its possible relevant mechanisms. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 30 male C57/BL6 mice aged 4 months old were randomly divided into the following three groups: Sham group (n=10), IR group (n=10), and MB group (n=10). Mice in MB group were treated with gavage continuously using methylene blue solution (dosage: 25 mg·kg-1·d-1) until they were 7 months old. Mice in the other two groups were administrated with the same amount of normal saline for gavage. After that, the abdomen of mice in Sham group was opened and closed, and bilateral renal pedicles of mice in IR group and MB group were occluded using a micro-artery clamp for 45 min for modeling. After modeling, the renal tissues and blood samples of mice were taken for detection. The levels of serum creatinine (Scr), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and malondialdehyde (MDA), and activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in mice in each experimental group were detected and statistically analyzed, respectively. The degree of renal tubular necrosis in renal tissues of mice was observed under an optical microscope. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect the levels of inflammatory factors [interleukin-1β (IL-1β), IL-18, IL-10 and transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1)] in renal tissues of mice in each experimental group, followed by relevant statistical analyses. The expressions of relevant proteins [NACHT, LRR, and PYD domains-containing protein 3 (NLRP3), nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB), caspase-1, pro-IL-1β, and IL-1β] in renal tissues of mice in each experimental group were detected via Western blotting, and the gray value of each band was detected for statistical analysis. RESULTS It was found in this experimental study that Scr and BUN levels in MB group were significantly lower than those in IR group, and the differences were statistically significant (p<0.05). Compared with that in IR group, the degree of renal tubular necrosis in MB group was significantly alleviated, and the difference was statistically significant (p<0.05). Compared with those in IR group, the levels of inflammatory factors (IL-1β and IL-18) in MB group were significantly decreased, but the levels of IL-10 and TGF-β1 in MB group were significantly increased, and the differences were statistically significant (p<0.05). Compared with those in IR group, the activity of SOD in MB group was increased significantly, but the level of MDA was decreased, and the differences were statistically significant (p<0.05). The protein expressions of NLRP3, NF-κB, caspase-1, and pro-IL-1β in MB group were decreased compared with those in IR group, but the expression of IL-1β in MB group was increased, and the differences were statistically significant (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS We showed that methylene blue can alleviate the apoptosis and inflammatory response induced by renal IR injury in mice, and its relevant mechanism may be related to the fact that methylene blue can negatively regulate NLRP3 signaling pathway.

Abstract
Ischemic stroke represents 87% of all strokes, and is the third leading cause of disability and mortality worldwide. The cause of ischemic stroke is the obstruction of blood flow through the artery that supplies oxygen-rich blood to the brain, with ischemia-reperfusion injury as its major cause. microRNAs (miRNA) are small non-coding RNAs, which serve important roles in the regulation of gene expression at the post-transcription level. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of miRNA-183 (miR-183) on microglia activation in rats with cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. To this end, a rat cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury model was established. The results indicated that miR-183 expression was decreased by cerebral ischemia-reperfusion. In addition, treatment using miR-183 agomir significantly reduced the neurological function scores, percentage of cerebral infarction volume, and ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule-1 (IBA-1)-positive cells in the CA1 area of the hippocampus in rats subjected to cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury, implicating a neuroprotective role for miR-183. MiR-183 agomir treatment also decreased the expression of pro-inflammatory-associated proteins interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α. Finally, the expression of the nuclear factor (NF)-κB p65 and IκBα was decreased and increased by miR-183 agomir treatment, respectively, indicating inhibition of the NF-κB signaling pathway. These observations suggest that miR-183 regulates the activation of microglia in rats with cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury by inhibiting the NF-κB signaling pathway.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Bullous pemphigoid (BP) is the most common autoimmune subepidermal blistering skin disease. Two antigens have been identified as targets of circulating autoantibodies (autoAbs) - BP180 and BP230 - with BP180 being a critical transmembrane adhesion protein of basal keratinocytes of the epidermis. The noncollagenous domain 16A (NC16A) of BP180 is the immunodominant epitope in patients with BP, and anti-BP180-NC16A IgG antibodies (Abs) correlate to disease activity. Routine serological testing and follow-up of BP relies on indirect immunofluorescence (IIF) of serum Abs, commonly performed on monkey oesophagus (ME), and/or enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) testing on recombinantly produced fragments of BP180 and BP230 (BP180-NC16A, BP230-C/N). OBJECTIVES To determine if NC16A epitopes are well represented on ME substrate. METHODS Sera from different BP cohorts were tested by IIF on ME and normal human skin (NHS). To confirm findings, affinity-purified anti-BP180-NC16A/BP230 polyclonal Abs and recombinant anti-BP180-NC16A/BP230 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) were used. RESULTS For sensitive detection of BP180-NC16A-specific IgG Abs, sections of NHS are superior to the widely used ME. Confirmation comes from polyclonal affinity-purified anti-BP180-NC16A/BP230 Abs, and by mAbs cloned from a patient with active BP. CONCLUSIONS Use of NHS is preferable over ME in routine IIF testing for BP. These results are of clinical relevance because anti-BP180-NC16A IgG titres are correlated to disease activity and detecting them reliably is important for screening, diagnosis and follow-up of patients with BP.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical effect and safety of long-acting pegylated interferon-α-2b (Peg-IFN-α-2b) (Y shape, 40 kD) injection (180 μg/week) in the treatment of HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients, with standard-dose Peg-IFN-α-2a as positive control. Methods: This study was a multicenter, randomized, open-label, and positive-controlled phase III clinical trial. Eligible HBeAg-positive CHB patients were screened out and randomized to Peg-IFN-α-2b (Y shape, 40 kD) trial group and Peg-IFN-α-2a control group at a ratio of 2:1. The course of treatment was 48 weeks and the patients were followed up for 24 weeks after drug withdrawal. Plasma samples were collected at screening, baseline, and 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, and 72 weeks for centralized detection. COBAS® Ampliprep/COBAS® TaqMan® HBV Test was used to measure HBV DNA level by quantitative real-time PCR. Electrochemiluminescence immunoassay with Elecsys kit was used to measure HBV markers (HBsAg, anti-HBs, HBeAg, anti-HBe). Adverse events were recorded in detail. The primary outcome measure was HBeAg seroconversion rate after the 24-week follow-up, and non-inferiority was also tested. The difference in HBeAg seroconversion rate after treatment between the trial group and the control group and two-sided confidence interval (CI) were calculated, and non-inferiority was demonstrated if the lower limit of 95% CI was > -10%. The t-test, chi-square test, or rank sum test was used according to the types and features of data. Results: A total of 855 HBeAg-positive CHB patients were enrolled and 820 of them received treatment (538 in the trial group and 282 in the control group). The data of the full analysis set showed that HBeAg seroconversion rate at week 72 was 27.32% in the trial group and 22.70% in the control group with a rate difference of 4.63% (95% CI -1.54% to 10.80%, P = 0.1493). The data of the per-protocol set showed that HBeAg seroconversion rate at week 72 was 30.75% in the trial group and 27.14% in the control group with a rate difference of 3.61% (95% CI -3.87% to 11.09%, P = 0.3436). 95% CI met the non-inferiority criteria, and the trial group was non-inferior to the control group. The two groups had similar incidence rates of adverse events, serious adverse events, and common adverse events. Conclusion: In Peg-IFN-α regimen for HBeAg-positive CHB patients, the new drug Peg-IFN-α-2b (Y shape, 40 kD) has comparable effect and safety to the control drug Peg-IFN-α-2a.

Abstract
Colorectal cancer (CRC), also known as bowel cancer, is one of the leading causes of cancer-associated mortality worldwide at present. The aim of the present study was to detect the effects of matrix metalloproteinase 1 (MMP1) on the viability and migration of a CRC cell line in the presence or absence of variation X-ray radiation doses. The CRC cell line, SW620, was cultured and treated with different X-ray doses (0, 0.1, 0.5, 1, 3 and 6 Gy). MMP1 expression was downregulated via the application of a specific small interfering (si)-RNA. The viability and migration of SW620 cells prior to and following transfection were detected with MTT and Transwell chamber assays, respectively. The application of siRNA transfection to silence MMP1 in SW620 cells resulted in reduced cell viability and migration (P<0.05). Compared with the control, the cell viability and migration of cells were significantly reduced when exposed to 0.5, 1, 3, and 6 Gy X-ray radiation (P<0.05). In SW620 cells treated with different X-ray doses, the mRNA expression levels of MMP1 were significantly reduced (P<0.05). Cells treated with 0.5 Gy X-ray exposure exhibited the lowest mRNA expression levels of MMP1 when compared with other doses of X-ray radiation. The expression of MMP1 was associated with the promotion of the viability and migration of SW620 cells. X-ray radiation with 6 Gy dosages significantly reduced cell viability when compared with the control. Thus, MMP1-targeted therapy combined with radiotherapy could be used for treating CRC.

Abstract
Osteoinductive calcium phosphate (CaP) bone grafts have equivalent performance to autografts in repairing critical-size bone defects. The osteoinductive potential of CaP is linked to the size of the surface topographical features. In the present study, two novel biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) bone grafts were synthesised with either sub-micron- (BCP<µm) or micron-scale (BCPµm) needle-shaped surface topography and compared to dimensionally similar tricalcium phosphate (TCP) with grain-shaped surface structures (TCP<µm and TCPµm). To clarify the possible function of the surface morphology (needle-like vs. grain-like) in initiating bone formation, the four CaP test materials were physicochemically characterised and implanted for 12 weeks in the dorsal muscle of beagles. The sub-micron needle-shaped topography of BCP<µm triggered earlier bone formation (3-6 weeks) as compared to the grain-shaped surface topography of TCP<µm, which formed bone at 6-9 weeks. After 12 weeks, the amount of induced bone formation in both materials was equivalent, based on histomorphometry. The micron-sized needle-shaped surface topography of BCPµm led to limited formation of new bone tissue, whereas its counterpart, TCPµm with grain-shaped surface topography, failed to trigger de novo bone formation. The relative strength of the parameters affecting CaP-driven bone induction was as follows: surface feature size > surface feature morphology > substrate chemistry. BCP materials with needle-shaped sub-micron surface topography gave rise to accelerated bone formation and slower rate of resorption than a comparable TCP. These characteristics may be translated to improve bone healing in orthotopic defects.

Abstract
1. During the long history of chicken domestication, eyelid colour, like skin colour and shank colour, has been one of the physical traits of Chinese indigenous chickens that influence consumer buying behaviour. In China, the Lindian chicken, which has coloured feathers, is renowned for the appetizing flavour of its meat and eggs, and its eyelid colours vary from deep (black) to light shades (light yellow). 2. To investigate genes involved in eyelid colour, the expression profiles of black and light-yellow eyelids of Lindian chickens were analysed with transcriptome sequencing. 3. A total of 13 466 genes were detected in the eyelids, among which 14 were differentially expressed. Among these differentially expressed genes (DEGs), three key genes, premelanosome protein (PMEL), dopachrome tautomerase (DCT), and tyrosinase (TYR), encoded proteins that positively regulate melanogenesis and melanin deposition. PMEL, DCT and TYR were expressed much more strongly in the black eyelids than in the light-yellow eyelids. A Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis showed that tyrosine metabolism and melanogenesis genes were significantly enriched among these DEGs (corrected P < 0.05). 4. In conclusion, melanin may be one of the main factors involved in Lindian chicken eyelid colour. Furthermore, these results provide a valuable resource for the future study of the physical traits of Lindian chicken.
