Abstract
Objective Orthosiphon pallidus (O. pallidus), which belongs to the Lamiaceae family, is a popular garden plant that is widely used for the treatment of various diseases, such as urinary lithiasis, fever, hepatitis, cancer and jaundice. The objective of the present work was to investigate the antioxidant free-radical scavenging and the anticancer activities of O. pallidus against human breast-cancer cell lines. Methods The antioxidant activity of Orthosiphon pallidus aqueous extract (OPAE) was investigated using different models, such as the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and the 2, 2'-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) models, as were the Fe+ chelation, the hydroxyl radical and superoxide radical scavenging, and total reducing power activities. The anticancer activities of the extract were determined by using the 3-(4, 5- dimethylthiazolyl-2)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) and the sulforhodamine (SRB) assays on the MCF-7 and the MDA-MB-231 cancer cell lines. Results The aqueous Orthosiphon pallidus extract showed potent activity in in-vitro models. It significantly inhibited the scavenging of hydroxyl and superoxide radicals, but induced a remarkable Fe+ chelation activity. For both cell lines, the percent cytotoxicity was found to increase steadily with increasing OPAE concentration up to 240 μg/mL. Conclusion These results suggest that Orthosiphon pallidus has excellent antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anticancer activities against human breast-cancer cell lines.

Abstract
The estimates of heritability for body weight from birth to 12 months age ranged from 0.10 to 0.43. The estimates of heritability for average daily gain (ADG) during various growth phase varied from 0.04 to 0.41. The heritability estimates of survival potential for post-weaning period to 12 months of age varied from 0.18 to 0.39. The genetic trend of body growth traits at 9 months of age and 12 months of age was positive.
Goats are adaptable to varied farming environments and contribute significantly towards sustainable livestock production and food security. Selective breeding of goats for improved performance is an important component of sustainable production. The objectives of the present study were to determine the most appropriate models of analysis for growth traits, to estimate genetic parameters, survival potential of kids from birth to 12 months of age and to estimate genetic trends for growth traits of Jamunapari kids at different ages. Genetic parameter estimates were obtained from 6590 records generated between 1982 and 2012 from 5922 animals with a pedigree covering over 13 generations. The most parsimonious model for early growth traits included permanent environmental effects due to the dam (PE) and litter effects. Similarly, the most appropriate model for early average daily gain (ADG) between birth and 3 or 6 months also included PE and litter effects. The estimates of heritability for survival from birth to 12 months of age ranged from 0.10 to 0.43. The estimates of heritability for ADG varied from 0.04 to 0.41. In general, higher estimates of heritability were observed when a sire model was fitted in the random effect. There was no genetic variation observed for survival between birth and 3 months of age. However, heritability estimates of between 0.18 and 0.39 were observed for survivability during post-weaning period to 12 months of age. The genetic trend at 9 months of age and 12 months of age was 0.144 kg 0.189 kg per year respectively. The genetic trend at all the ages was positive during the study period.

Abstract
We report the first results of a light weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) search from the CDEX-10 experiment with a 10 kg germanium detector array immersed in liquid nitrogen at the China Jinping Underground Laboratory with a physics data size of 102.8 kg day. At an analysis threshold of 160 eVee, improved limits of 8×10^{-42} and 3×10^{-36} cm^{2} at a 90% confidence level on spin-independent and spin-dependent WIMP-nucleon cross sections, respectively, at a WIMP mass (m_{χ}) of 5 GeV/c^{2} are achieved. The lower reach of m_{χ} is extended to 2 GeV/c^{2}.

Abstract
A facile hydrothermal synthesis route was explored to obtain various nanostructures of Co oxide for applications in electrocatalytic water-splitting. The effect of reaction time and metal precursor ions on the morphology of synthesized nanostructures was studied in detail with the aid of a scanning electron microscope. By systematic optimization of the synthesis parameters, Co oxide nanostructures with single dimensionality were obtained in the form of 0D nanoparticles (NPs), 1D nanowires (NWs), 2D nanosheets (NSs) and 3D nanocrystals (NCs). The effectiveness of the developed nanostructures towards oxygen evolution reaction (OER) was studied and a promising OER activity was recorded for all the samples. Amongst all the developed catalysts, Co(OH)2 NPs showed the lowest overpotential of 339 mV to achieve a current density of 10 mA cm-2, which is even lower than that of noble-metal oxides such as the commercial RuO2 catalyst (370 mV). The specific effect of different parameters such as BET surface area, phase, crystallographic orientation of surface lattice planes, electroactive surface area and surface active species on the OER performance was studied. It was found that the Co3O4 phase is more active for the OER, compared to the Co(OH)2 phase. However, Co(OH)2 NPs showed the best OER performance owing to their higher BET surface area, thereby underlining the significance of the catalyst surface area. The effect of the number of active surface atoms was demonstrated by estimating the electroactive surface area of all Co3O4 nanostructures. It was also shown that the formation of CoO2 species (Co(IV)) on the surface is more beneficial for the OER as compared to the formation of CoOOH species (Co(III)). Finally, the robustness of the developed Co3O4 nanostructures was established by performing a recycling test for the OER (1000 cycles) and the observed change in the catalytic activity was correlated with morphological variation.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The genetic testing to confirm or rule out an acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) typically takes a minimum of 24-72 hours. Flow cytometric immunophenotyping (FCI) on the other hand provides rapid and objective information to differentiate APL from non-APL. METHODS FCI features, with single-tube 8-color combination using CD45, CD34, HAL-DR, CD11b, CD13, CD33, and CD117 and CD64, were compared for the 30 consecutive APL and 30 non-APL acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cases which morphologically mimicked an APL. The diagnosis was confirmed by cytogenetic or molecular genetic testing in the form of t (15:17) (q22; q21)/variant translocations or PML-RARA fusion transcript analysis. RESULTS The APL cells lacked CD34, HLA-DR, and CD11b in 90%, 90%, and 93.3% cases, respectively. Myeloid antigens such as CD33, CD13, CD117, and CD64 were expressed in 96.7%, 96.7%, 76.7%, and 70% cases, respectively. The dual negative profiles, CD34-/HLA-DR- or HLA-DR-/CD11b-, were noted in 90% and 93.3% cases. The triple-negative (CD34-/HLA-DR-/CD11b-) profile was noted in 90% of the cases. The sensitivity, specificity, and positive predictive value (PPV) of CD34-/HLA-DR- and HLA-DR-/CD11b- profiles for the diagnosis of APL were found to be 90%, 80% & 81.1% and 93.3%, 86.7%& 87.5%, respectively. Combining the above two profiles resulted in a triple-negative profile (CD34-, HLA-DR- and CD11b-), which had a better specificity (93.3%) and positive predictive value (93.1%), with similar sensitivity. CONCLUSION FCI is a rapid and reliable modality for the diagnosis of an APL. The triple-negative profile (CD34-/HLA-DR-/CD11b-) rapidly and specifically identifies an APL case.

Abstract
Since the embryonic stem cells have knocked the doorsteps, they have proved themselves in the field of science, research, and medicines, but the hovered restrictions confine their application in human welfare. Alternate approaches used to reprogram the cells to the pluripotent state were not up to par, but the innovation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) paved a new hope for the researchers. Soon after the discovery, iPSCs technology is undergoing renaissance day by day, i.e., from the use of genetic material to recombinant proteins and now only chemicals are employed to convert somatic cells to iPSCs. Thus, this technique is moving straightforward and productive at an astonishing pace. Here, we provide a brief introduction to iPSCs, the mechanism and methods for their generation, their prevailing and prospective applications and the future opportunities that can be expected from them.

Abstract
We report titania nanoheterostructures decorated with silver, exhibiting tuneable photochromic properties for the first time when stimulated only by visible white light (domestic indoor lamp), with no UV wavelengths. Photochromic materials show reversible color changes under light exposure. However, all inorganic photochromic nanoparticles (NPs) require UV light to operate. Conventionally, multicolor photochromism in Ag-TiO2 films involves a change in color to brownish-gray during UV-light irradiation (i.e., reduction of Ag+ to Ag0) and a (re)bleaching (i.e., (re)oxidation of Ag0 to colorless Ag+) upon visible-light exposure. In this work, on the contrary, we demonstrate visible-light-induced photochromism (ranging from yellow to violet) of 1-10 mol % Ag-modified titania NPs using both spectroscopic and colorimetric CIEL*a*b* analyses. This is not a bleaching of the UV-induced color but a change in color itself under exposure to visible light, and it is shown to be a completely different mechanism-driven by the interfacial charge transfer of an electron from the valence band of TiO2 to that of the AgxO clusters that surround the titania-to the usual UV-triggered photochromism reported in titania-based materials. The quantity of Ag or irradiation time dictated the magnitude and degree of tuneability of the color change, from pale yellow to dark blue, with a rapid change visible only after a few seconds, and the intensity and red shift of surface plasmon resonance induced under visible light also increased. This effect was reversible after annealing in the dark at 100 °C/15 min. Photocatalytic activity under visible light was also assessed against the abatement of nitrogen oxide pollutants, for interior use, therefore showing the coexistence of photochromism and photocatalysis-both triggered by the same wavelength-in the same material, making it a multifunctional material. Moreover, we also demonstrate and explain why X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy is an unreliable technique with such materials.

Introduction Robotic surgical system's ability to perform complex hepatobiliary surgeries is gaining momentum with outcomes similar to open surgery and advantages of minimal access surgery. The authors present their initial experience of a heterogenous spectrum of robotic hepatobiliary cases and the first reported case series from India. Methods Retrospective review of hepatobiliary cases done robotically from February 2015 to January 2016 was done. Results The series has ten patients; with median age of 45 years (range 15–72). Etiologies were choledochal cyst type IVa, benign lower end common bile duct stricture (biliary reconstruction group); incidental gallbladder carcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, recurrent pyogenic cholangitis, polycystic liver disease, hemangioma, liver metastases, hydatid cyst (resection group). Median operative duration was 510 min; one patient needed intra-operative blood transfusion and there were no conversions to open surgery. One patient developed bile leak which was managed by biliary stenting and another thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura during post-operative period. Median length of hospital stay was 6 days with average cost of robotic surgery being $1700 USD more for major hepatectomy and $900 USD more for biliary reconstruction compared to open procedure. Conclusion This initial series adds to existing data on the feasibility of robotic hepatobiliary cases with inherent advantages of minimal invasive surgery, however with limitation of availability and use of devices like cavitron ultrasonic surgical aspirator (CUSA) and higher operative cost.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Intrauterine contraceptive device is a popular and effective method of contraception. It can be inserted either as an interval procedure or after abortion or delivery. Threads are attached to the vertical limb so that the user can find out the location of the device. Sometimes the threads are not palpable by the user; this study was conducted to find out the reasons for inability to palpate the threads. METHODS AND RESULTS The retrospective study was conducted over a period of eight years; 110 female patients who complained of inability to feel the threads were included in the study. In most of the cases the device was in the right place. In four cases the device could not be felt on uterine sounding; this could have been due to subendometrial placement of the device. There was no case of perforation by the device. CONCLUSION Inability to feel the threads is a common complaint by the patients who are using intrauterine contraceptive device. In most of the cases the device was in correct position and could be localized by clinical examination. Ultrasonography can help in localization of the device; if used at the time of insertion it can confirm proper insertion and location of the device. This will reassure the client and the health care providers.

Abstract
We present here a systematic investigation on the interaction between a water-soluble alloyed semiconductor quantum dot and bovine serum albumin using various spectroscopic techniques i.e. fluorescence quenching, resonance light scattering and synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy. The analysis of fluorescence spectrum and fluorescence intensity indicates that the intrinsic fluorescence of bovine serum albumin (BSA) gets quenched by both static and dynamic quenching mechanism. The Stern-Volmer quenching constants, energy transfer efficiency parameters, binding parameters and corresponding thermodynamic parameters (ΔH0 , ΔS0 and ΔG0 ) have been evaluated by using van 't Hoff equation at different temperatures. A positive entropy change with a positive enthalpy change was observed suggesting that the binding process was an entropy-driven, endothermic process associated with the hydrophobic effect. The intermolecular distance (r) between donor (BSA) and acceptor (CdSeS/ZnS quantum dots) was estimated according to Förster's theory of non-radiative energy transfer. The synchronous fluorescence spectra revealed a blue shift in the emission maxima of tryptophan which is indicative of increasing hydrophobicity. Negative ΔG0 values implied that the binding process was spontaneous. It was found that hydrophobic forces played a role in the quenching process. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Abstract
The present investigation was done to study the effect of caspase-9 inhibitor Z-LEHD-FMK, on in vitro produced buffalo embryos. Z-LEHD-FMK is a cell-permeable, competitive and irreversible inhibitor of enzyme caspase-9, which helps in cell survival. Buffalo ovaries were collected from slaughterhouse and the oocytes were subjected to in vitro maturation (IVM), in vitro fertilization (IVF) and in vitro culture (IVC). The culture medium was supplemented with Z-LEHD-FMK at different concentrations i.e. 0 μM (control), 10 μM, 20 μM, 30 μM and 50 μM during IVM and IVC respectively. After day-2 post-insemination, the cleavage rate was significantly higher (74.20 ± 5.87% at P<0.05) in the group treated with 20 μM of Z-LEHD-FMK than at any other concentration. Same trend was observed in the blastocyst production rate which was higher at 20 μM (27.42 ± 2.94% at P<0.05). The blastocysts obtained at day-8 of the culture at different concentrations were subjected to TUNEL assay, to determine the level of apoptosis during the culture medium supplied with 20 μM Z-LEHD-FMK which showed apoptotic index significantly lower (1.88 ± 0.87 at P<0.05). There was a non-significant increase in total cell number in all Z-LEHD-FMK treated blastocysts. The quantitative gene expression of CHOP and HSP10 genes showed significant increase (P<0.05) in the group treated with 50 μM Z-LEHD-FMK, while, HSP40 showed significant increase (P<0.05) at 30 μM and 50 μM Z-LEHD-FMK concentrations. From the afore mentioned results we conclude that, Z-LEHD-FMK at 20 μM increased the cleavage and blastocyst rate of buffalo pre-implantation embryos also affecting the rate of apoptosis and cellular stress at various concentrations.

Abstract
Background Airway collapse is a common finding in dogs with chronic cough, yet the diagnosis can be difficult to confirm without specialty equipment. Hypothesis Bronchoscopic documentation of tracheobronchial collapse will show better agreement with fluoroscopic imaging than with standard radiography. Animals Forty‐two dogs prospectively evaluated for chronic cough. Methods In this prospective study, three‐view thoracic radiographs were obtained followed by fluoroscopy during tidal respiration and fluoroscopy during induction of cough. Digital images were assessed for the presence or absence of collapse at the trachea and each lobar bronchus. Bronchoscopy was performed under general anesthesia for identification of tracheobronchial collapse at each lung segment. Agreement of imaging tests with bronchoscopy was evaluated along with sensitivity and specificity of imaging modalities as compared to bronchoscopy. Results Airway collapse was identified in 41/42 dogs via 1 or more testing modalities. Percent agreement between pairs of tests varied between 49 and 87% with poor–moderate agreement at most bronchial sites. Sensitivity for the detection of bronchoscopically identified collapse was highest for radiography at the trachea, left lobar bronchi, and the right middle bronchus, although specificity was relatively low. Detection of airway collapse was increased when fluoroscopy was performed after induction of cough compared to during tidal respiration. Conclusions Radiography and fluoroscopy are complementary imaging techniques useful in the documentation of bronchial collapse in dogs. Confirming the presence or absence of tracheal or bronchial collapse can require multiple imaging modalities as well as bronchoscopy.

Abstract
Clinical pharmacology uses foundational principles of pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) to address medication use spanning a continuum from molecules to the masses. In the realm of infectious diseases, PK/PD attributes are considered especially important, because subtherapeutic dosing of antibiotics has been associated with poorer clinical outcomes in patients and increased incidences of drug resistance in populations. In consideration of these PK/PD principles, we will describe the analogous relationship between health systems strengthening, including for educating healthcare providers about emerging infections, and the tenets of therapeutic drug monitoring.

Abstract
The composition of the glycerolipids [monogalactosyl diacylglycerol (MGDG), digalactosyl diacylglycerol (DGDG), sulfoquinovosyl diacylglycerol (SQDG) and phosphatidylglycerol (PG)] and alterations in their saturation and unsaturation levels in response to osmotic and matric water potential have been investigated in the cyanobacterium Scytonema geitleri Bharadwaja. The level of MGDG in S. geitleri was high followed by PG, DGDG and SQDG. Whereas, the amount of fatty acids namely palmitic, stearic, oleic, linoleic and linolenic acid were high, arachidic and behenic acid were, however, present in traces in the four glycerolipids. A significant reduction in the level of total lipid as well as individual class lipid was observed in S. geitleri in response to matric water potential to that of its total lipid and individual class lipid in response to osmotic water potential. The levels of polyunsaturated and unsaturated fatty acids also increased in response to matric water potential to that of osmotic water potential.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome is associated with eclampsia. We assessed the distribution and nature of typical and atypical cranial MR imaging findings in these patients and their correlation with clinical and laboratory data and predictors of outcome. MATERIALS AND METHODS Forty-five clinically confirmed cases of eclampsia were included in this prospective observational study. Subjects with hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelets syndrome (n = 9) and pre-existing neurologic conditions (1 with cerebral solitary cysticercus granuloma) were excluded. Patients underwent blood investigations and cranial MR imaging. RESULTS Twenty-seven patients had abnormal while 8 had normal MR imaging findings. Involvement of brain regions was as follows: frontal, 88.89%; temporal, 44.44%; parietal, 100%; occipital, 100%; deep gray matter, 29.63%; cerebellum, 22.22%; brain stem, 14.81%. Cytotoxic edema was present in 33.33% of cases; 66.67% of patients had mild posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome; 25.92% had moderate posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome; and 7.41% had severe posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome. Abnormal neuroimaging findings were significantly associated with altered sensorium; visual disturbances; status epilepticus; and elevated serum creatinine, uric acid, and lactate dehydrogenase (P=.006, P=.018, P=.015, P=.019, P=.003, and P=.001, respectively). Serum creatinine, uric acid, and lactate dehydrogenase values and the presence of moderate or severe posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome were significantly associated with mortality (P<.001, P<.001, P=.009, and P=.027, respectively). CONCLUSIONS Neuroimaging in eclampsia demonstrates a higher incidence of atypical distributions and cytotoxic edema than previously thought. Altered sensorium; visual disturbances; status epilepticus; and elevated serum uric acid, lactate dehydrogenase, and creatinine are associated with abnormal neuroimaging findings. Higher serum creatinine, uric acid, and lactate dehydrogenase levels and moderate and severe forms of posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome are possible predictors of poor outcome.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Histological changes in the liver in cases of choledochal cyst are seldom reported. The severity of liver pathology has an impact on the presentation, course and prognosis of hepatobiliary lesions. This study aims to record the histological changes in the liver and response to surgery in patients with choledochal cyst and to correlate these with the clinical symptoms and recovery. MATERIALS AND METHODS All children <12 years diagnosed with choledochal cyst were evaluated clinically, radiologically and biochemically at presentation. Excision of the cyst with intra-operative liver biopsy was done. Liver biopsy was repeated after 6 months of surgery. Both the liver biopsies were compared objectively in terms of hepatocellular damage, cholestasis, parenchymal inflammation, bile duct inflammation, bile duct proliferation, portal fibrosis and central venous distension with appropriate statistical tests. Clinical presentation and recovery were correlated with grades of liver pathology. RESULTS Forty-six patients were included. Pathological damage was observed in all the livers preoperatively. Post-operatively, significant resolution of histological changes was seen in hepatocellular damage (p < 0.0001), parenchymal inflammation (p = 0.0001), cholestasis (p = 0.0003) and bile duct proliferation (p = 0.0001). Portal fibrosis did not resolve. Central venous distension worsened. Severity of damage correlated significantly with younger age, symptom severity, anomalous pancreatico-biliary junction (APBJ) and obstructive biliary clearance on Tc-99 HIDA scan. Post-operative bile duct proliferation, bile duct inflammation and portal fibrosis were associated with cholangitis, re-do surgery and obstructive Tc-99 HIDA scan clearance in the post-operative period. CONCLUSIONS All patients with choledochal cyst show pathological changes in liver of varying severity. More severe symptoms, younger age and APBJ are associated with higher degree of liver damage. Except portal fibrosis and central venous distension, all other pathological changes regress after surgery. Regression can be hindered by post-op cholangitis, obstructive biliary clearance and post-op IHBR dilatation.

Abstract
Sinonasal undifferentiated carcinoma (SNUC) is an epithelial neoplasm of sinonasal region which does not exhibit a squamous or glandular differentiation. The challenge in diagnosis of this entity is the rarity of the disease, the varying morphology of the tumor which leads to gamut of differential diagnosis and the paucity of consistent immunohistochemical markers except pancytokeratin. Forty-one cases of sinonasal epithelial neoplasm consisting of 11 cases of SNUC and 10 cases each of high-grade (grade 3 and 4) esthesioneuroblastoma, undifferentiated nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma of the sinonasal region were analyzed for morphology and immunoexpression of CK5/6 and p40. It was found that SNUC did not exhibit immunohistochemical expression of p40 and CK 5/6, suggesting that these could be useful negative immune markers for diagnosis of SNUC.
