[S.U.N.C.T. syndrome: report of a case preceded by ocular trauma]

Report case of Short lasting, Unilateral, Neuralgiform headache, associated to Conjunctival injection and Tearing (S.U.N.C.T. syndrome) preceded by ipsilateral ocular trauma. We are not aware of any other report of such association. Until the pathophysiology of the S.U.N.C.T. syndrome becomes completely clarified, the relationship between the preceding ocular trauma and the occurrence of the clinical manifestations remains speculative. Clinical, pathophysiological therapeutic aspects of the S.U.N.C.T. syndrome are reviewed.

[Hemichorea-hemiballism associated to basal ganglia hemorrhage in uncontrolled diabetes mellitus: report of two cases]

Two cases of acute onset hemichorea-hemiballism in female patients with complicated diabetes mellitus are described. Computerized tomography showed diffuse basal ganglia hemorrhage contralateral to the abnormal movements. Occurrence of such a presentation in a teenager with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus is unique. The relationship between non-ketotic hyperglycemia, structural damage in the basal ganglia and movement disorders are reviewed.

[Rolandic epilepsy: report of 53 cases]

The clinical and EEG features of 53 out-patients with benign partial epilepsy of childhood with rolandic spikes were studied. The age mean (years) of seizures onset was 5.5 +/- 3.2. Simple partial seizures with speech arrest were more frequent than other seizure types. In seven cases (13.2%) cognitive disabilities were present. In the left-side foci a expected correlation between the interictal EEG focus and clinical lateralization of seizure was observed; in the right-side foci, the right-side interictal focus was correlated with ipsilateral seizures.
