Abstract
OBJECTIVE To identify the main research interests of Brazilian patients in the field of infertility and assisted reproductive technology (ART) treatments. METHODS This prospective multicenter cross-sectional study was carried out in Brazil. Patients attending five fertility centers from the Huntington Group between October and December 2018 were invited to join the study, which consisted of answering an anonymous survey online. Two hundred and twenty-seven patients signed the informed consent form and were emailed the survey link. The survey was designed based on the James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership protocol. In the area of infertility, patients were probed on issues such as somatic and psychological effects of treatment, prevention, assisted reproductive technology (medications and procedures), success rates, risks, and emotional aspects. RESULTS The response rate (RR) was 47.58% (108 patients; 88 women - RR 51.46% and 20 men - RR 35.71%). Patient mean age was 36.5 years (SD 4.6). The top ten research priorities listed were 1) short- and long-term side effects of treatment; 2) how to cope with infertility; 3) risks associated with ART; 4) success rates in ART; 5) impact of diet on ART and fertility; 6) healthy habits; 7) alternative therapies; 8) impact of exercise on fertility and ART success; 9) oocyte quality and ovarian reserve; and 10) genetic or inherited causes of infertility. CONCLUSION To better cater to the needs of patients and develop patient-centered care in the field of infertility and ART treatment, clinicians, healthcare providers, and the scientific community must identify patient concerns and priorities and make efforts to address them.

Abstract
STUDY QUESTION Is oral medroxiprogesterone acetate (MPA) non-inferior compared to ganirelix with respect to the number of mature oocytes (MII) retrieved at ovum pick-up (OPU) in oocyte donation cycles? SUMMARY ANSWER MPA is comparable to ganirelix in terms of number of MII retrieved at OPU in oocyte donation cycles. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY Oral treatment with MPA inhibits the pituitary LH surge during ovarian stimulation in infertile patients. Because of its negative effect on the endometrium, MPA suppression is combined with freeze-all. Published reports indicate that both the number of MII retrieved and pregnancy rates from these oocytes are comparable to short protocol of GnRH agonists during IVF cycles with freeze-all. MPA might allow for more comfortable and cost-effective ovarian stimulation. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION Randomized clinical trial, open-label, single center, to assess the non-inferiority of MPA (10 mg/day) versus ganirelix (0.25 mg/day) from Day 7, in ovarian stimulation cycles triggered with triptoreline acetate. Trigger criterion was ≥3 follicles of diameter >18 mm. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS Overall, 252 oocyte donors were selected (eligible), 216 were randomized and 173 reached OPU: 86 under MPA and 87 under ganirelix. The main outcome was the number of MII retrieved at OPU. Secondary outcomes were embryological laboratory outcomes and reproductive outcomes in recipients. The study was powered to test that the lower limit of the 95% confidence interval of the difference in retrieved MII between groups will be above the non-inferiority limit of -3. Differences were tested using a two-sided Student's t-test or a Pearson's Chi2 test, as appropriate. MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE All participants were in their first cycle of oocyte donation. On average, donors were 24 (SD 4.5) years old and with a BMI of 23 (SD 2.9) kg/m2. Duration of stimulation was similar in both groups (11.2 days), as well as the total gonadotropin dose up to trigger (2162 IU in MPA and 2163 IU in ganirelix). The number of MII retrieved was no different: 15.1 (SD 8.3) with MPA and 14.6 (SD 7.0), 95% CI of the difference -2.78, -1.83 excluding the pre-defined non-inferiority limit (-3). Recipients and embryo transfer (ET) characteristics were also similar between groups. The average age of recipients was 42 (SD 4.8) years and the BMI was 24 (SD 4.4) kg/m2. The mean number of MII assigned to each recipients was 6.7 (SD 1.2) in MPA and 6.6 (SD 1.2) in ganirelix (P = 0.58). MII were fertilized with partner sperm in 84% cycles overall and fertilization rate was 76% in MPA versus 74% in ganirelix (P = 0.34). Overall, there was 54% of double ET and 46% of single ET, with 40% of ETs were performed in D5. In spite of similar recipients and cycle characteristics, reproductive outcomes were unexpectedly lower with MPA. Biochemical pregnancy rate was 44 versus 57% (P = 0.023); clinical pregnancy rate 31 versus 46% (P = 0.006); ongoing pregnancy rate 27 versus 40%, (P = 0.015) and live birth rate 22 versus 31%, (P = 0.10). LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION Although oocyte recipient and ET characteristics are similar among groups, this RCT has been designed under a hypothesis of non-inferiority in the number of MII obtained and recipients were not randomized; therefore, the reproductive outcomes in recipients should be evaluated with extreme caution. WIDER IMPLICATION OF THE FINDINGS Ovarian stimulation using MPA for prevention of LH surge yields comparable number of MII oocytes compared to ganirelix in oocyte donation cycles. Abstract
As highlighted by European statistics, the employment of donor oocytes is a growing option for women who cannot make use of their own gametes. As the potential recipients are continuously increasing in number, a donor programme which satisfies this demand is mandatory. Improvements in cryopreservation techniques, like oocyte and embryo vitrification, have led to the overcoming of the sequence of stimulation-retrieval-transfer both from a spatial and a temporal point of view, with the development of cryobanks of oocytes permitting crossborder donation. However, while some studies report comparable success when using vitrified and fresh oocytes we still need to investigate whether the use of fresh oocytes give higher live birth rate than cryopreserved ones, when the same number of oocytes are given. The performance of embryo cryopreservation, conversely, seems to be more reliable. A novel approach based on the shipment of frozen sperm from the recipient's country to the oocyte donor's one, where fresh oocytes are inseminated and the resulting embryos frozen and transported back to the referring IVF centre to perform a frozen embryo transfer may be a good strategy. We believe that the use of frozen embryos from fresh oocytes could be associated with a higher cumulative live birth rate per cycle, while favouring personalised oocyte recipient care with a flexible number of oocytes assigned and limiting the burden of travelling abroad.

Abstract
Microtubules are intracellular filaments that define in space and in time a large number of essential cellular functions such as cell division, morphology and motility, intracellular transport and flagella and cilia assembly. They are therefore essential for spermatozoon and oocyte maturation and function, and for embryo development. The dynamic and functional properties of the microtubules are in large part defined by various classes of interacting proteins including MAPs (microtubule associated proteins), microtubule-dependent motors, and severing and modifying enzymes. Multiple mechanisms regulate these interactions. One of them is defined by the high diversity of the microtubules themselves generated by the combination of different tubulin isotypes and by several tubulin post-translational modifications (PTMs). This generates a so-called tubulin code that finely regulates the specific set of proteins that associates with a given microtubule thereby defining the properties and functions of the network. Here we provide an in depth review of the current knowledge on the tubulin isotypes and PTMs in spermatozoa, oocytes, and preimplantation embryos in various model systems and in the human species. We focus on functional implications of the tubulin code for cytoskeletal function, particularly in the field of human reproduction and development, with special emphasis on gamete quality and infertility. Finally, we discuss some of the knowledge gaps and propose future research directions.

Abstract
Purpose: The decision to have a child might be postponed by the lack of partner, and elective egg freezing (EEF) can afford single women more time to find a suitable companion to reach the desired family structure. Alternatively, some women decide to have a child on their own thorough in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intrauterine insemination (IUI) with donor sperm. This study investigates the motivations and personal characteristics of single women undergoing IVF/IUI or EEF.Materials and methods: This is a cross-sectional study including 281 heterosexual single women who underwent either IVF/IUI with donor sperm for solo motherhood (208) or EEF (73) in 2015 at a large fertility center. An anonymous electronic survey was sent after starting the treatment.Results: The most common reason for not having fulfilled the motherhood desire was lack of partner (72.4% IVF/IUI and 65.9% EEF). We found that women undergoing IVF/IUI report a longer motherhood desire, >10 years (71.3% vs. 54.3%), live closer to their families (75.5% vs. 56.5%), and perceive a stronger family support than women undergoing EEF (85.4% vs. 68.8%). Finally, 100% of EEF obviously knew about the possibility of IVF/IUI with donor sperm, while 59.9% of IVF/IUI knew about EEF.Conclusion: Our results underscore the relevance of family ties in the decision to undergo IVF/IUI as single women. Moreover, these women might not be fully informed about social freezing as an option to postpone motherhood. Health professionals should be aware of these differences when counseling single women on fertility choices.

Abstract
RESEARCH QUESTION What are the current research trends in human assisted reproduction around the world? DESIGN An analysis of 26,000+ scientific publications (articles, letters and reviews) produced worldwide between 2005 and 2016. The corpus of publications indexed in PubMed was obtained by combining the Medical Subject Heading (MeSH) terms: 'Reproductive techniques', 'Reproductive medicine', 'Reproductive health', 'Fertility', 'Infertility' and 'Germ cells'. An analysis was then carried out using text mining algorithms to obtain the main topics of interest. RESULTS A total of 44 main topics were identified, which were then further grouped into 11 categories: 'Laboratory techniques', 'Male factor', 'Quality of ART, ethics and law', 'Female factor', 'Public health and infectious diseases', 'Basic research and genetics', 'Pregnancy complications and risks', 'General - infertility & ART', 'Psychosocial aspects', 'Cancer' and 'Research methodology'. The USA was the leading country in terms of number of publications, followed by the UK, China and France. Research content in high-income countries is fairly homogeneous across categories and it is dominated by 'Laboratory techniques' in Western-Southern Europe, and by 'Quality of ART, ethics and law' in North America, Australia and New Zealand. 'Laboratory techniques' is also the most abundant category on a yearly basis. CONCLUSIONS This study identifies the current hot topics on human assisted reproduction worldwide and their temporal trends for 2005-2016. This provides an innovative picture of the current research that could help explore the areas where further research is needed.

Abstract
PURPOSE The objective of this study is to analyze the potential of immature, denuded, post-GVBD (germinal vesicle breakdown) oocytes (including prometaphase I, metaphase I, and prometaphase II stages) to result live birth after in vitro maturation. Furthermore, we compared two culture media to identify which of them provides better reproductive outcomes when used for in vitro maturation. METHODS We performed a retrospective cohort study including 4022 IVF-ICSI (in vitro fertilization-intracytoplasmic sperm injection) cycles between 2011 and 2015. A total of 4450 immature post-GVBD oocytes from 1442 cycles were cultured in vitro; of these, 2364 oocytes reached MII (metaphase II) stage (IVMC oocytes, in vitro meiotic completion) and were fertilized. Overall, 3933 embryo transfers were performed: 3579 were embryos derived from MII oocytes (ET-MII); 264 were embryos derived from MII + IVMC oocytes (ET-MIX), and 90 embryos from IVMC oocytes (ET-IVMC). In total, 399 IVMC embryos were transferred. RESULTS Maturation rate for immature post-GVBD oocytes was 54.1%. G-2™PLUS (Vitrolife) medium provided significantly higher maturation rate (p < 0.001) than G-IVF™PLUS (Vitrolife) (65.7% vs. 42.5%, p < 0.001). Embryos in ET-IVMC in cleavage stage had an average morphological score of 6.8/10 (7.7 in ET-MII; p < 0.001). Regarding reproductive outcomes, ET-IVMC gave 11.1% biochemical pregnancy rate, 10.0% clinical pregnancy rate, 7.8% ongoing pregnancy rate, and 5.6% live birth rate. CONCLUSIONS Embryos arising from IVMC oocytes resulted in a live birth rate of 5.6%. We suggest that in vitro maturation of denuded immature post-GVBD oocytes should be performed at the very least when few MII are collected, and likely in all patients, as they provide acceptable maturation and fertilization rates, and a sizeable increase in live birth.

Abstract
STUDY QUESTION How did the field of stem cell research develop in the years following the derivation of the first human embryonic stem cell (hESC) line? SUMMARY ANSWER Supported by the increasing number of clinical trials to date, significant technological advances in the past two decades have brought us ever closer to clinical therapies derived from pluripotent cells. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY Since their discovery 20 years ago, the use of human pluripotent stem cells has progressed tremendously from bench to bedside. Here, we provide a concise review of the main keystones of this journey and focus on ongoing clinical trials, while indicating the most relevant future research directions. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION This is a historical narrative, including relevant publications in the field of pluripotent stem cells (PSC) derivation and differentiation, recounted both through scholarly research of published evidence and interviews of six pioneers who participated in some of the most relevant discoveries in the field. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS The authors all contributed by researching the literature and agreed upon body of works. Portions of the interviews of the field pioneers have been integrated into the review and have also been included in full for advanced reader interest. MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE The stem cell field is ever expanding. We find that in the 20 years since the derivation of the first hESC lines, several relevant developments have shaped the pluripotent cell field, from the discovery of different states of pluripotency, the derivation of induced PSC, the refinement of differentiation protocols with several clinical trials underway, as well as the recent development of organoids. The challenge for the years to come will be to validate and refine PSCs for clinical use, from the production of highly defined cell populations in clinical grade conditions to the possibility of creating replacement organoids for functional, if not anatomical, function restoration. LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION This is a non-systematic review of current literature. Some references may have escaped the experts’ analysis due to the exceedingly diverse nature of the field. As the field of regenerative medicine is rapidly advancing, some of the most recent developments may have not been captured entirely. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS The multi-disciplinary nature and tremendous potential of the stem cell field has important implications for basic as well as translational research. Recounting these activities will serve to provide an in-depth overview of the field, fostering a further understanding of human stem cell and developmental biology. The comprehensive overview of clinical trials and expert opinions included in this narrative may serve as a valuable scientific resource, supporting future efforts in translational approaches. Abstract
OBJECTIVE There is a strong body of published data corroborating the current lack of awareness of age-related fertility decline (ARFD), but few studies have evaluated specific interventions aimed at increasing ARFD knowledge. Here, we review the literature examining the instruments developed and the educational interventions performed to date. METHODS We carried out a narrative review based on a literature search in PubMed, Web of Science, PsycINFO and Scopus between January 2010 and December 2017. RESULTS The instruments available comprise websites, paper brochures, slide presentations and tailored information, mainly developed with the input of university students. The eight interventions reviewed include surveys before and/or after a specific intervention, with and without a control group, in randomised and non-randomised designs. Overall, the interventions were effective in increasing ARFD knowledge and lowering the desired age for childbearing in the short term. These results were not always maintained, however, in the long term, possibly due to a lack of perceived risk of future infertility among those studied. CONCLUSION Further interventions need to be targeted to both young people and health care providers, and should be as personalised as possible. A greater number of validated instruments are also needed to reliably measure the effectiveness of any intervention.

Abstract
Human fertilization and embryo development involve a wide range of critical processes that determine the successful development of a new organism. Although Assisted Reproduction Technologies (ART) may help solve infertility problems associated to severe male factor, the live birth rate is still low. A high proportion of ART failures occurs before implantation. Understanding the causes for these failures has been difficult due to technical and ethical limitations. Diagnostic procedures on human spermatozoa in particular have been limited to morphology and swimming behaviours while other functional requirements during early development have not been addressed due to the lack of suitable assays. Here, we have established a quantitative system based on the use of Xenopus egg extracts and human spermatozoa. This system provides novel possibilities for the functional characterization of human spermatozoa. Using clinical data we show that indeed this approach offers a set of complementary data for the functional evaluation of spermatozoa from patients.

Abstract
RESEARCH QUESTION Is higher antral follicle count (AFC) in healthy young women associated with higher oocyte developmental competence? DESIGN Retrospective study of 1985 first oocyte donation cycles, corresponding to 3210 fresh embryo transfers in oocyte recipients, conducted between January 2010 and May 2014. RESULTS Donors with higher AFC who underwent ovarian stimulation, produced both more cumulus-oocyte complexes (COC) (B coefficient = 0.47, 95% CI 0.41 to 0.53;P ≤ 0.001) and MII oocytes (B coefficient = 0.36, 95% CI 0.32 to 0.41;P ≤ 0.001) at linear regression analysis. Donors with low AFC had a higher risk of cancellation (OR 4.79, 95% CI 2.99 to 7.69;P < 0.001) or obtaining fewer than four metaphase II (MII) at ovum retrieval (OR 3.87, 95% CI 2.38 to 6.27;P < 0.001). No association was found between AFC and biochemical (OR 1.13, 95% CI 0.93 to 1.36), clinical (OR 1.05, 95% CI 0.87 to 1.28), ongoing pregnancy (OR 1.00, 95%, CI 0.82 to 1.21) or live birth rates (OR 0.97, 95% CI 0.8 to 1.19), when at least four MII were obtained at ovum retrieval. CONCLUSIONS AFC does not relate to the developmental competence of oocytes in women younger than 35 years.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Pregnancies after gamete donation are at higher risk of developing pre-eclampsia (PE) than those achieved by IVF with patient's own gametes. We aim to assess whether pregnancies achieved with both oocyte and sperm donation (double donation, DD) are at an increased risk of developing PE and gestational hypertension (GH) compared to those achieved by oocyte donation alone (OD). MATERIALS AND METHODS Retrospective cohort study of 433 patients who reached the 20th week of gestation with either DD (n = 81) or OD (n = 352) between March 2013 and April 2016 at a fertility clinic. The risk of preterm PE, term PE, and gestational hypertension (GH) are presented as unadjusted and adjusted odds ratio (OR). RESULTS DD have a higher risk of preterm PE than OD, with an OR of 3.02 (95%CI 1.11-8.24; p = 0.031). We found no difference in the risk of term PE (OR 0.26, 95%CI 0.03-1.98; p = 0.19) or of GH (OR 1.23, 95% CI 0.63-2.43; p = 0.55). DISCUSSION Pregnancies with DD are at higher risk of developing preterm PE than OD alone. Patients, and physicians treating them, should be made aware of the elevated risk of PE in these gestations, in order to start prophylactic measures during the first weeks of pregnancy.

Abstract
STUDY QUESTION Are morphokinetic measurements of time lapse-videos of human embryos comparable among operators? SUMMARY ANSWER There is little variation among morphokinetic measurements taken by different operators when analyzing the same time lapse-videos of human embryos. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY Morphokinetic analysis of preimplantation embryo development is a complementary method of embryo assessment increasingly used in IVF laboratories. Time-lapse videos of embryo development are normally viewed by trained embryologists and annotated with the times when specific developmental events occur. Such annotations form the basis of embryo selection algorithms, used to rank the embryos for transfer. It is unknown whether the reliability of morphokinetic annotations is related to the morphological characteristics of the analyzed embryo or to the ability of the embryologists performing the annotation. One study so far reported the reliability of morphokinetic annotations among three embryologists using the time-lapse system (TLS), but larger studies with different setups are needed to address this issue further. STUDY DESIGN SIZE DURATION A prospective study was carried out between October 2015 and June 2016. Six embryologists with various degrees of experience in static, morphology-based evaluation, individually annotated the same 93 videos of preimplantation development, corresponding to 18 IVF/ICSI cycles, recorded with a TLS. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS SETTING METHODS Times of second polar body extrusion, appearance and disappearance of pronuclei, and embryo cleavages (times from 2-cell to 5-cell stage: t2, t3, t4, t5) were annotated. Each embryologist was blinded to the annotations of the others. Intra- and inter-observer agreement was evaluated by computing intra-class correlation coefficients (ICCs). MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE In the inter-observer analysis, most ICCs obtained were higher than 0.80, indicating a high level of agreement: t2: 0.93; t3: 0.80; t4: 0.89; t5: 0.89; disappearance of two pronuclei: 0.98. However, the ICCs obtained for second polar body extrusion and the appearance of two pronuclei annotations was lower: 0.51 and 0.63, respectively, indicating an average level of agreement. The ICCs obtained from the intra-observer analysis were also higher than 0.80 (t2: 0.96; t3: 0.89; t4: 0.88; t5: 0.86; disappearance of two pronuclei: 0.96). The ICCs obtained from second polar body extrusion and the appearance of two pronuclei annotations were 0.77 and 0.66, respectively. These results indicate that developmental timings, annotated in time-lapse videos, are highly reliable both within and among observers. LIMITATIONS REASONS FOR CAUTION The events at the developmental stages from 6-cells to blastocyst were not evaluated; since some morphokinetic algorithms use times past the 6-cell stage in their calculations, further studies should be carried out to understand the variations among observers in these cases. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS Time-lapse measurement should be as objective as possible, especially for the first embryo cleavages, because they are often measured to define algorithms to assess the embryonic implantation potential. Our results show that measurements using this particular TLS are consistent and reliable both within and among operators. STUDY FUNDING/COMPETING INTERESTS None. Abstract
STUDY QUESTION What is the quality of life (QoL) and mental health of infertile heterosexual couples from different nations (Italy, Germany and France) undergoing cross-border oocyte donation (OD) in Spain? SUMMARY ANSWER Women have lower QoL and more anxiety than their male partners; overall French couples have lower QoL than their Italian and German counterparts. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY In Europe, thousands of couples move across national borders annually to seek ARTs, primarily OD, driven mainly by legal restrictions in their countries of origin. Most research shows that infertility and ARTs affect patients' mental health and QoL. The decision to undergo reproductive care abroad might add further emotional and practical complexity. Reliable information on how this experience affects the mental health and QoL of cross-border reproductive care (CBRC) patients is lacking. Moreover, most research has focused on women, and further research on male partners and intercultural differences is needed. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION Cross-sectional study including 548 heterosexual individuals (347 women, 201 men) from Italy, Germany and France seeking IVF with donated oocytes in Barcelona, Spain between March and November 2013. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS A total of 432 couples were invited to participate and handed a questionnaire set. Questionnaires were answered separately and anonymously by each member of the couple on the day of embryo transfer. The questionnaire set included the Fertility Quality of Life (FertiQoL) instrument, the generic Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) instrument and three close-ended questions assessing perceived usefulness, desire, and use of psychological support. The overall response rate was 63.4%. MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE Men reported significantly higher scores than women in the emotional (+13.74; P < 0.001), mind-body (+13.39; P < 0.001) and social (+4.11; P < 0.01) FertiQoL domains, at multilevel analysis controlled for confounder factors. Intercultural differences in QoL of couples were seen. French individuals had significantly lower emotional (-6.44; P < 0.01), mind-body (-7.41; P < 0.001) and relational scores (-6.41; P < 0.001) compared to Italians. Germans showed higher social scores (+6.41; P < 0.001) but lower relational scores (-8.94; P < 0.002) than Italians. Men reported significantly lower anxiety scores for the HADS than their partners (-1.38; P < 0.001), and German couples reported lower anxiety (-1.70; P = 0.003) and depression than their Italian counterparts (-1.56; P < 0.001). French patients were more likely to have required support by a mental health professional due to fertility problems in the past (+0.19; P < 0.001). LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION The scope of this study is limited to heterosexual couples undergoing cross-border OD. Caution on the interpretation of the results in men is advised, mainly because only three men for every five women completed the questionnaire. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS These findings call for further work to identify the true nature of the differences in QoL and mental health observed. STUDY FUNDING/COMPETING INTEREST(S) None.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Different perinatal and neonatal adverse outcomes have been reported to be increased in frozen embryo transfer pregnancies compared with fresh embryo transfer with patient's own oocytes. Concerning preeclampsia, it has also been reported to be increased after frozen embryo transfer. The objective of this study is to asses if there is an increased risk of preeclampsia and gestational hypertension in pregnancies achieved with oocyte donation after frozen embryo transfer compared to fresh embryo transfer. STUDY DESIGN Retrospective cohort study of 433 patients who underwent a cycle with donated oocytes either after fresh (n = 353) or frozen embryo transfer (n = 80) between March 2013 and April 2016 at a large fertility clinic. Participants are pregnant patients who reached the 20th week of gestation. The risk of preterm preeclampsia (presenting before 37 weeks of gestation), term preeclampsia (presenting at or after 37 weeks of gestation) and gestational hypertension are presented as unadjusted and adjusted odds ratio (OR). RESULTS Frozen embryo transfer have similar risk for developing preterm preeclampsia compared to fresh embryo transfer, with an OR of 1.95 (CI 95% 0.72, 5.26, p = 0.18), as well as term preeclampsia (OR 0.3, 95%CI 0.04, 2.35, p = 0.25), and gestational hypertension (OR 1.45, 95% CI 0.75, 2.81, P = 0.27). CONCLUSIONS Despite a high prevalence of preeclampsia in pregnancies achieved by oocyte donation, the freezing-thawing process does not confer more risk than the fresh embryo transfers in preterm preeclampsia, term preeclampsia or gestational hypertension.
