Abstract
The interaction between regulatory T (Treg) cells and self-reactive T cells is a crucial mechanism for maintaining immune tolerance. In this study, we investigated the cross-activation of Treg cells by self-antigens and its impact on self-reactive CD8+ T cell responses, with a focus on the P53 signaling pathway. We discovered that major histocompatibility complex (MHC) I-restricted self-peptides not only activated CD8+ T cells but also induced the delayed proliferation of Treg cells. Following HLA-A*0201-restricted Melan-A-specific (pMelan) CD8+ T cells, we observed the direct expansion of Treg cells and concurrent suppression of pMelan+CD8+ T cell proliferation upon stimulation with Melan-A peptide. Transcriptome analysis revealed no significant alterations in specific signaling pathways in pMelan+CD8+ T cells that were co-cultured with activated Treg cells. However, there was a noticeable upregulation of genes involved in P53 accumulation, a critical regulator of cell survival and apoptosis. Consistent with such observation, the blockade of P53 induced a continuous proliferation of pMelan+CD8+ T cells. The concurrent stimulation of Treg cells through self-reactive TCRs by self-antigens provides insights into the immune system's ability to control activated self-reactive CD8+ T cells as part of peripheral tolerance, highlighting the intricate interplay between Treg cells and CD8+ T cells and implicating therapeutic interventions in autoimmune diseases and cancer immunotherapy.

Abstract
Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) is a rare viral central nervous system (CNS) demyelinating disease primarily associated with a compromised immune system. PML is seen mainly in individuals with human immunodeficiency virus, lymphoproliferative disease, and multiple sclerosis. Patients on immunomodulators, chemotherapy, and solid organ or bone marrow transplants are predisposed to PML. Recognition of various PML-associated typical and atypical imaging abnormalities is critical for early diagnosis and differentiating it from other conditions, especially in high-risk populations. Early PML recognition should expedite efforts at immune-system restoration, allowing for a favorable outcome. This review aims to provide a practical overview of radiological abnormalities in PML patients and address differential considerations.

Abstract
Epstein-Barr virus is a ubiquitous herpesvirus that may cause both infective (encephalitis, meningitis, and so forth) and postinfection inflammatory (such as Guillain-Barré syndrome, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis) manifestations in the CNS. Diagnosis of Epstein-Barr virus-related CNS pathologies is often complicated due to a nonspecific clinical presentation and overlap with other infectious and noninfectious causes, both clinically and on imaging. The Epstein-Barr virus is also implicated in several lymphoproliferative disorders in both immunocompromised and immunocompetent hosts. MR imaging is preferred for evaluating the extent of involvement and monitoring therapy response, given its high sensitivity and specificity, though imaging findings may be nonspecific. Herein, we review the imaging spectrum of Epstein-Barr virus-associated CNS disorders.

Abstract
The cerebral cortex diversified extensively during vertebrate evolution. Intriguingly, the three-layered mammalian olfactory cortex resembles the cortical cytoarchitecture of non-mammals yet evolved alongside the six-layered neocortex, enabling unique comparisons for investigating cortical neuron diversification. We performed single-nucleus multiome sequencing across mouse three- to six-layered cortices and compared neuron types across mice, reptiles and salamander. We identified neurons that are olfactory cortex-specific or conserved across mouse cortical areas. However, transcriptomically similar neurons exhibited area-specific epigenetic states. Additionally, the olfactory cortex showed transcriptomic divergence between lab and wild-derived mice, suggesting enhanced circuit plasticity through adult immature neurons. Finally, olfactory cortex neurons displayed marked transcriptomic similarities to reptile and salamander neurons. Together, these data indicate that the mammalian olfactory cortex retains molecular signatures representative of ancestral cortical traits.

First Measurement of Antideuteron Number Fluctuations at Energies Available at the Large Hadron Collider. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 131:041901. Abstract
The first measurement of event-by-event antideuteron number fluctuations in high energy heavy-ion collisions is presented. The measurements are carried out at midrapidity (|η|<0.8) as a function of collision centrality in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV using the ALICE detector. A significant negative correlation between the produced antiprotons and antideuterons is observed in all collision centralities. The results are compared with a state-of-the-art coalescence calculation. While it describes the ratio of higher order cumulants of the antideuteron multiplicity distribution, it fails to describe quantitatively the magnitude of the correlation between antiproton and antideuteron production. On the other hand, thermal-statistical model calculations describe all the measured observables within uncertainties only for correlation volumes that are different with respect to those describing proton yields and a similar measurement of net-proton number fluctuations.

Abstract
The transverse-momentum (p_{T}) spectra and coalescence parameters B_{2} of (anti)deuterons are measured in p-p collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV for the first time in and out of jets. In this measurement, the direction of the leading particle with the highest p_{T} in the event (p_{T}^{lead}>5 GeV/c) is used as an approximation for the jet axis. The event is consequently divided into three azimuthal regions, and the jet signal is obtained as the difference between the toward region, that contains jet fragmentation products in addition to the underlying event (UE), and the transverse region, which is dominated by the UE. The coalescence parameter in the jet is found to be approximately a factor of 10 larger than that in the underlying event. This experimental observation is consistent with the coalescence picture and can be attributed to the smaller average phase-space distance between nucleons in the jet cone as compared with the underlying event. The results presented in this Letter are compared to predictions from a simple nucleon coalescence model, where the phase-space distributions of nucleons are generated using pythia8 with the Monash 2013 tuning, and to predictions from a deuteron production model based on ordinary nuclear reactions with parametrized energy-dependent cross sections tuned on data. The latter model is implemented in pythia8.3. Both models reproduce the observed large difference between in-jet and out-of-jet coalescence parameters, although the almost flat trend of the B_{2}^{Jet} is not reproduced by the models, which instead give a decreasing trend.

Abstract
We report on the first search for nuclear recoils from dark matter in the form of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) with the XENONnT experiment, which is based on a two-phase time projection chamber with a sensitive liquid xenon mass of 5.9 ton. During the (1.09±0.03) ton yr exposure used for this search, the intrinsic ^{85}Kr and ^{222}Rn concentrations in the liquid target are reduced to unprecedentedly low levels, giving an electronic recoil background rate of (15.8±1.3) events/ton yr keV in the region of interest. A blind analysis of nuclear recoil events with energies between 3.3 and 60.5 keV finds no significant excess. This leads to a minimum upper limit on the spin-independent WIMP-nucleon cross section of 2.58×10^{-47} cm^{2} for a WIMP mass of 28 GeV/c^{2} at 90% confidence level. Limits for spin-dependent interactions are also provided. Both the limit and the sensitivity for the full range of WIMP masses analyzed here improve on previous results obtained with the XENON1T experiment for the same exposure.

Abstract
Multiple viable theoretical models predict heavy dark matter particles with a mass close to the Planck mass, a range relatively unexplored by current experimental measurements. We use 219.4 days of data collected with the XENON1T experiment to conduct a blind search for signals from multiply interacting massive particles (MIMPs). Their unique track signature allows a targeted analysis with only 0.05 expected background events from muons. Following unblinding, we observe no signal candidate events. This Letter places strong constraints on spin-independent interactions of dark matter particles with a mass between 1×10^{12} and 2×10^{17} GeV/c^{2}. In addition, we present the first exclusion limits on spin-dependent MIMP-neutron and MIMP-proton cross sections for dark matter particles with masses close to the Planck scale.

Abstract
Based on WHO guidance, all forms of asbestos are a health risk. In India, the mining of asbestos has been stopped, but chrysotile (a type of asbestos) is still imported and processed in large quantities. Chrysotile is mainly used for asbestos-cement roofing, and the manufacturers claim its use to be safe. We sought to understand the Indian Government's position on the use of asbestos. To do so, we have analysed the replies of the executive wing of the Indian Government to questions on asbestos in the Indian Parliament. This revealed that, despite a mining ban, the government has defended the import, processing and continued use of asbestos.

Abstract
Patients with brain metastases (BMETS) need information about the prognosis and potential value of treatment options to make informed therapeutic decisions, but tools to predict survival in contemporary practice are scarce. We propose an Updated Recursive Partitioning Analysis (U-RPA) instrument to predict survival and benefit from brain-directed treatment (BDT) of contemporary patients. This was a retrospective analysis of patients with BMETS treated between 2017 and 2019. With survival as the primary endpoint, we calculated the U-RPA and generated estimates using Kaplan-Meier curves and hazard ratios. Of 862 eligible patients, 752 received BDT and 110 received best supportive care (BSC). Median overall survival with BDT and BSC was 9.3 and 1.3 months, respectively. Patients in RPA class 1, 2A, 2B and 3 who underwent BDT had median survival of 28.1, 14.7, 7.6 and 3.3 months, respectively. The median survival for patients in RPA 3 who received BDT (n = 147), WBRT (n = 79) and SRS (n = 54) was 3.3, 2.9 and 4.1 months, respectively. The U-RPA defines prognosis estimates, independent of tumor type and treatment modality, which can assist to make value-based care treatment decisions. The prognosis for patients in U-RPA class 2B and 3 remains poor, with consideration for early palliative care involvement in these cases.

Abstract
Sequence-based prediction of drug-target interactions has the potential to accelerate drug discovery by complementing experimental screens. Such computational prediction needs to be generalizable and scalable while remaining sensitive to subtle variations in the inputs. However, current computational techniques fail to simultaneously meet these goals, often sacrificing performance of one to achieve the others. We develop a deep learning model, ConPLex, successfully leveraging the advances in pretrained protein language models ("PLex") and employing a protein-anchored contrastive coembedding ("Con") to outperform state-of-the-art approaches. ConPLex achieves high accuracy, broad adaptivity to unseen data, and specificity against decoy compounds. It makes predictions of binding based on the distance between learned representations, enabling predictions at the scale of massive compound libraries and the human proteome. Experimental testing of 19 kinase-drug interaction predictions validated 12 interactions, including four with subnanomolar affinity, plus a strongly binding EPHB1 inhibitor (KD = 1.3 nM). Furthermore, ConPLex embeddings are interpretable, which enables us to visualize the drug-target embedding space and use embeddings to characterize the function of human cell-surface proteins. We anticipate that ConPLex will facilitate efficient drug discovery by making highly sensitive in silico drug screening feasible at the genome scale. ConPLex is available open source at https://ConPLex.csail.mit.edu.

Abstract
The split-Gal4 system allows for intersectional genetic labeling of highly specific cell types and tissues in Drosophila. However, the existing split-Gal4 system, unlike the standard Gal4 system, cannot be repressed by Gal80, and therefore cannot be controlled temporally. This lack of temporal control precludes split-Gal4 experiments in which a genetic manipulation must be restricted to specific timepoints. Here, we describe a split-Gal4 system based on a self-excising split-intein, which drives transgene expression as strongly as the current split-Gal4 system and Gal4 reagents, yet which is repressible by Gal80. We demonstrate the potent inducibility of "split-intein Gal4" in vivo using both fluorescent reporters and via reversible tumor induction in the gut. Further, we show that our split-intein Gal4 can be extended to the drug-inducible GeneSwitch system, providing an independent method for intersectional labeling with inducible control. We also show that the split-intein Gal4 system can be used to generate highly cell type-specific genetic drivers based on in silico predictions generated by single-cell RNAseq (scRNAseq) datasets, and we describe an algorithm ("Two Against Background" or TAB) to predict cluster-specific gene pairs across multiple tissue-specific scRNA datasets. We provide a plasmid toolkit to efficiently create split-intein Gal4 drivers based on either CRISPR knock-ins to target genes or using enhancer fragments. Altogether, the split-intein Gal4 system allows for the creation of highly specific intersectional genetic drivers that are inducible/repressible.

Abstract
Circuit depth reduction is of critical importance for quantum chemistry simulations on current and near term quantum computers. This issue is tackled by introducing a chemically aware strategy for the unitary coupled cluster ansatz. The objective is to use the chemical description of a system to aid in the synthesis of a quantum circuit. We combine this approach with two flavors of symmetry verification for the reduction of experimental noise. These methods enable the use of Quantinuum's System Model H1 ion trap quantum computer for a 6-qubit quantum subspace expansion calculation. We present (i) calculations to obtain methane's optical spectra; (ii) an atmospheric gas reaction simulation involving [CH3⋅-H-OH]‡. Using our chemically aware unitary coupled cluster state-preparation strategy in tandem with state of the art symmetry verification methods, we improve device yield for CH4 at 6 qubits. This is demonstrated by a 90% improvement in two-qubit gate count and a reduction in relative error to 0.2% for electronic energy calculated on System Model H1.

Abstract
Finfish and fish products are globally the most acknowledged health-promoting foods. The rising incidence of pathogenic and disease outbreaks have had a sizeable impact on aquaculture. Microbial supplementation of food in the form of probiotics, prebiotics, and their controlled release combinations (=co-encapsulations) as 'synbiotics' is noted for its significant biotherapeutic and health benefits. Supplementation of probiotic microbial feed additives in the fish diet claims to improve fish health by modulation of resident intestinal microbiota and by introducing healthy microbiota procured from an exogenous source, capable of combating pathogens, improving nutrient uptake, assimilation, growth as well as survival. Prebiotics are selectively digestible substrates beneficially used by host gut microbes to enhance probiotic effects. Formulating a fish diet with augmented probiotics and prebiotic microbial bio-supplements can ensure a sustainable alternative for establishing fish health in a naturally susceptible aquaculture scenario. Micro-encapsulation, co-encapsulation, and nano-encapsulation are novel strategies of biotechnical interventions in functional feeds for finfish. These aim to improve probiotic persistence, survivability, and efficacy in commercial formulations during probiotic transit through the host-gut environment. This review discusses the importance of co-treatment and encapsulation strategies for improving probiotic and prebiotic potential in aquafeed formulations, reliably improving finfish health and nutritional returns from aquaculture, and, consequently, for consumers.

Abstract
Background South Africa has a high prevalence of people living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV; PLWH) who have shown to affect the prevalence and severity of infection and sepsis particularly gallbladder disease. Empirical Antimicrobial (EA) therapy for acute cholecystitis (AC) is based largely on bacteria colonisation of bile (bacteriobilia) and antimicrobial susceptibility patterns (antibiograms) obtained from the developed world where the prevalence of PLWH is very low. In an ever-emerging era of increasing antimicrobial resistance, monitoring and updating local antibiograms is underscored. Objective Due to the paucity of data available locally to guide treatment we found it pertinent to examine gallbladder bile for bacteriobilia and antibiograms in a setting with a high prevalence of PLWH to determine if this may demand a review of our local antimicrobial policies for gallbladder infections for both EA and pre-operative antimicrobial prophylaxis (PAP) for laparoscopic cholecystectomies (LC). Methodology A retrospective observational descriptive study was undertaken at King Edward VIII Hospital, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Hospital records were reviewed for all patients undergoing cholecystectomy over a 3-year period. Gallbladder bacteriobilia and antibiograms were assessed and compared between PLWH and HIV uninfected (HIV-U). Pre-operative age, ERCP, PCT, CRP and NLR were used as predictors for bacteriobilia. Statistical analyses were performed using R Project and p values of less than 0.05 were considered as statistically significant. Results There were no differences in bacteriobilia or antibiograms between PLWH and HIV-U. There was >30% resistance to amoxicillin/clavulanate and cephalosporins. Aminoglycoside-based therapy, had good susceptibility patterns whilst carbapenem-based therapy demonstrated the lowest resistance levels. ERCP and age were predictors of bacteriobilia (p<0.001 and 0.002 respectively). PCT, CRP and NLR were not. Conclusion PLWH should follow the same PAP and EA recommendations as HIV-U. For EA, we recommend, a combination of amoxicillin/clavulanate with aminoglycoside-based therapy (amikacin or gentamycin) or piperacillin/tazobactam as monotherapy. Carbapenem-based therapy should be reserved for drug resistant species. For PAP, we recommend the routine use in older patients and patients with history of ERCP undergoing LC.

Abstract
Metastatic malignancies have limited management strategies and variable treatment responses. Cancer cells develop beside and depend on the complex tumor microenvironment. Cancer-associated fibroblasts, with their complex interaction with tumor and immune cells, are involved in various steps of tumorigenesis, such as growth, invasion, metastasis, and treatment resistance. Prooncogenic cancer-associated fibroblasts emerged as attractive therapeutic targets. However, clinical trials have achieved suboptimal success. Fibroblast activation protein (FAP) inhibitor-based molecular imaging has shown encouraging results in cancer diagnosis, making them innovative targets for FAP inhibitor-based radionuclide therapies. This review summarizes the results of preclinical and clinical FAP-based radionuclide therapies. We will describe advances and FAP molecule modification in this novel therapy, as well as its dosimetry, safety profile, and efficacy. This summary may guide future research directions and optimize clinical decision-making in this emerging field.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a major cause of irreversible central vision loss. The main reason for lost vision due to AMD is choroidal neovascularization (CNV). In the clinic, current treatments for CNV include photodynamic therapy, laser photocoagulation, and anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy. PURPOSE This study evaluates a novel treatment technique combining synchronized nanosecond laser pulses and ultrasound bursts, namely photo-mediated ultrasound therapy (PUT) as a potential treatment method for CNV, for its efficacy and safety in the treatment of CNV via the experiments in a clinically-relevant rabbit model in vivo. METHODS CNV was created by subretinal injection of Matrigel and vascular endothelial growth factor (M&V) in 10 New Zealand white rabbits. Six rabbits were used in the PUT group. In the control groups, two rabbits were treated by laser-only, and two rabbits were treated by ultrasound-only. The treatment efficacy was evaluated through fundus photography and fluorescein angiography (FA) longitudinally for up to 4 weeks. Rabbits were sacrificed for histopathology 3 months after treatment to examine the safety of PUT. RESULTS The fluorescein leakage on FA was quantified to longitudinally evaluate treatment outcome. Compared with baseline, the relative intensity index was reduced by 26.57% ± 8.66% at 3 days after treatment, 27.24% ± 6.21% at 1 week after treatment, 27.79% ± 2.61% at 2 weeks after treatment, and 32.12% ± 3.23% at 4 weeks after treatment, all with a statistically significant difference of p < 0.01. The comparison between the relative intensity indexes from the two control groups (laser-only treatment and ultrasound-only treatment) did not show any statistically significant difference at all time points. Safety evaluation at 3 months with histopathology demonstrated that the PUT did not result in morphologic changes to the neurosensory retina. CONCLUSIONS This study introduces PUT for the first time for the treatment of CNV. The results demonstrated good efficacy and safety of PUT to treat CNV in a clinically-relevant rabbit model. With a single session of treatment, PUT can safely reduce the leakage of CNV for at least 1 month after treatment.

Abstract
Accurate classification of laryngeal cancer is a critical step for diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Radiomics is a rapidly advancing field in medical image processing that uses various algorithms to extract many quantitative features from radiological images. The high dimensional features extracted tend to cause overfitting and increase the complexity of the classification model. Thereby, feature selection plays an integral part in selecting relevant features for the classification problem. In this study, we explore the predictive capabilities of radiomics on Computed Tomography (CT) images with the incidence of laryngeal cancer to predict the histopathological grade and T stage of the tumour. Working with a pilot dataset of 20 images, an experienced radiologist carefully annotated the supraglottic lesions in the three-dimensional plane. Over 280 radiomic features that quantify the shape, intensity and texture were extracted from each image. Machine learning classifiers were built and tested to predict the stage and grade of the malignant tumour based on the calculated radiomic features. To investigate if radiomic features extracted from CT images can be used for the classification of laryngeal tumours. Out of 280 features extracted from every image in the dataset, it was found that 24 features are potential classifiers of laryngeal tumour stage and 12 radiomic features are good classifiers of histopathological grade of the laryngeal tumor. The novelty of this paper lies in the ability to create these classifiers before the surgical biopsy procedure, giving the clinician valuable, timely information.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Parkinson's disease is a chronic neurodegenerative disorder associated with heterogeneous symptoms. Though it is characterized by means of four distinct motor symptoms such as resting tremors, muscular rigidity, bradykinesia, and postural instability. These patients also have deficits in fine motor skills while performing simple tasks such as brushing their own teeth, taking bath, remembering small details, and writing skills. The study aimed to qualitatively evaluate the effectiveness of Yoga therapy in teaching oral hygiene practice and subsequently, on tooth brushing skills in patients who were diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. MATERIALS AND METHODS This qualitative study was conducted on 100 patients diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Institutional ethical committee permission was obtained prior to commencing the study. Written informed consent was obtained from patients or their caregivers before conducting this study. Detailed clinical history was recorded and gender characteristics were noted down. In the present study, there were 67 female and 33 male participants. Yoga exercises were taught to Parkinson's patients by a qualified yoga instructor. Improvements in toothbrushing skills were noted down by a single operator and oral hygiene status was analyzed using gingival index and plaque index on follow-up durations at 1, 2, 3, and 6 months. Yoga exercises comprised of warming up, stretching, yoga breathing exercises or pranayama, and/or relaxation process. Statistical analysis was performed by use of IBM SPSS Version 20.0. (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY) software designed for Windows. Intra-group comparison between categorical variables was done by statistical test-paired student 't-test'. RESULTS On comparing plaque indices, the mean ± SD plaque index at 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 6th months were 1.89 ± 0.02, 1.72 ± 0.01, 1.42 ± 0.12, and 0.56 ± 0.02, respectively. Mean ± SD gingival index scores at 1st month, 2nd month, 3rd month, and 6th-month durations, scores were 1.76 ± 0.06, 1.57 ± 0.12, 1.23 ± 0.02, and 0.76 ± 0.01, respectively. Statistical significance difference was noted on comparing the indices scores. CONCLUSION Yoga practice has been shown to improve toothbrushing skills and oral hygiene in Parkinson's disease patients.

Singh R, Yang X. A review on photo-mediated ultrasound therapy. Exp Biol Med (Maywood) 2023; 248:775-786. Abstract
Photo-mediated ultrasound therapy (PUT) is a novel therapeutic technique based on the combination of ultrasound and laser. The underlying mechanism of PUT is the enhanced cavitation effect inside blood vessels. The enhanced cavitation activity can result in bio-effects such as reduced perfusion in microvessels. The reduced perfusion effect in microvessels in the eye has the potential to control the progression of eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. Several in vivo studies have demonstrated the feasibility of PUT in removing microvasculature in the eye using rabbit eye model and vasculature in the skin using rabbit ear model. Numerical studies using a bubble dynamics model found that cavitation is enhanced during PUT due to the dramatic increase in size of air/vapor nuclei in blood. In addition, the study conducted to model cavitation dynamics inside a blood vessel during PUT found stresses induced on the vessel wall during PUT are higher than that at normal physiological levels, which may be responsible for bio-effects. The concentration of vasodilators such as nitric oxide and prostacyclin were also found to be affected during PUT in an in vitro study, which may limit blood perfusion in vessels. The main advantage of PUT over conventional techniques is non-invasive, precise, and selective removal of microvessels with high efficiency at relatively low energy levels of ultrasound and laser, without affecting the nearby structures. However, the main limitation of vessel rupture/hemorrhage needs to be overcome through the development of real-time monitoring of treatment effects during PUT. In addition to the application in removing microvessels, PUT-based techniques were also explored in treating other diseases. Studies have found a combination of ultrasound and laser to be effective in removing blood clots inside veins, which has the potential to treat deep-vein thrombosis. The disruption of atherosclerotic plaque using combined ultrasound and laser was also tested, and the feasibility was demonstrated.

Rao D, Singh R, Prakashini K, Vijayananda J. Investigating Public Sentiment on Laryngeal Cancer in 2022 Using Machine Learning. Indian J Otolaryngol Head Neck Surg 2023:1-7. [PMID: 37362133 PMCID: PMC10132422 DOI: 10.1007/s12070-023-03813-2] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Grants] [Track Full Text] [Figures] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 03/31/2023] [Accepted: 04/14/2023] [Indexed: 06/28/2023] Open
Abstract
This study aims to investigate public sentiment on laryngeal cancer via tweets in 2022 using machine learning. We aimed to analyze the public sentiment about laryngeal cancer on Twitter last year. A novel dataset was created for the purpose of this study by scraping all tweets from 1st Jan 2022 that included the hashtags #throatcancer, #laryngealcancer, #supraglotticcancer, #glotticcancer, and #subglotticcancer in their text. After all tweets underwent a fourfold data cleaning process, they were analyzed using natural language processing and sentiment analysis techniques to classify tweets into positive, negative, or neutral categories and to identify common themes and topics related to laryngeal cancer. The study analyzed a corpus of 733 tweets related to laryngeal cancer. The sentiment analysis revealed that 53% of the tweets were neutral, 34% were positive, and 13% were negative. The most common themes identified in the tweets were treatment and therapy, risk factors, symptoms and diagnosis, prevention and awareness, and emotional impact. This study highlights the potential of social media platforms like Twitter as a valuable source of real-time, patient-generated data that can inform healthcare research and practice. Our findings suggest that while Twitter is a popular platform, the limited number of tweets related to laryngeal cancer indicates that a better strategy could be developed for online communication among netizens regarding the awareness of laryngeal cancer.
