Abstract
Stimulation with ultrafast light pulses can realize and manipulate states of matter with emergent structural, electronic and magnetic phenomena. However, these non-equilibrium phases are often transient and the challenge is to stabilize them as persistent states. Here, we show that atomic-scale PbTiO3/SrTiO3 superlattices, counterpoising strain and polarization states in alternate layers, are converted by sub-picosecond optical pulses to a supercrystal phase. This phase persists indefinitely under ambient conditions, has not been created via equilibrium routes, and can be erased by heating. X-ray scattering and microscopy show this unusual phase consists of a coherent three-dimensional structure with polar, strain and charge-ordering periodicities of up to 30 nm. By adjusting only dielectric properties, the phase-field model describes this emergent phase as a photo-induced charge-stabilized supercrystal formed from a two-phase equilibrium state. Our results demonstrate opportunities for light-activated pathways to thermally inaccessible and emergent metastable states.

Abstract
Hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite (HOIP) materials have remarkable potential in solar cells owing to their high power conversion efficiency and inexpensive preparation. However, their current-voltage (I-V) curves often exhibit hysteresis characteristics, which not only strongly affect the accuracy of measurements but also seriously impair device performance, and, moreover, their actual origin is still the subject of debate. Here, a single HOIP micro/nanowire-based two-terminal device was constructed. Not only can its hysteresis properties be accurately modulated, but also their origin can clearly be identified as variations in the surface barrier related to trap filling. Under illumination of the entire device with visible (VIS) light, two anticlockwise hysteresis loops appear symmetrically in cyclic I-V curves. Interestingly, the cyclic I-V curves can be switchably changed into asymmetrical "8"-shaped hysteresis loops with bipolar resistive switching (RS) features when only the vicinity of one electrode is illuminated. The traps located in the surface space charge region play a crucial role in the tunable hysteresis behaviour. Owing to the presence of abundant surface states, two back-to-back connected diodes related to the surface barrier can be formed in the two-terminal device. With the synergistic assistance of illumination and bias, moreover, the injection and extraction of holes in the surface space charge region can effectively modulate the surface barrier, which triggers the formation of a bipolar RS device. Accordingly, two switchable back-to-back connected bipolar RS devices were built. Regarding the tunable hysteresis with nonvolatile memory properties controlled by the synergistic action of bias and illumination, our results provide a valuable insight into the identification of its origin and, furthermore, also indicate that the HOIP materials have significant potential in nonvolatile memory applications.

Abstract
Single CdS nanobelt-based photodetectors are strongly dependent on bias and temperature. They not only show a strong photoresponse to close bandgap energy light with ultrahigh responsivity of approximately 107 A W-1, large photo-to-dark current ratio of 104, photoconductive gain of 107, and fast response and recovery speed at a large bias of 20 V, but can also show a weak photoresponse to above- and below-bandgap energy light. Moreover, their spectral response range can show tunable selectivity to above- and below-bandgap light, which can be accurately controlled by temperature and bias. More importantly, the modulated spectral response characteristics show excellent memory behaviour after reversible writing and erasing by using temperature and bias. In nanostructures, abundant surface states and stacking fault-related traps play a vital role in the ultrahigh photoresponse to bandgap light and the erasable memory effect on spectral response range selectivity. Given the erasable memory of the spectral response selectivity with excellent photoconduction performance, the CdS NBs possess important applications in new-generation photodetection and photomemory devices.

Abstract
SrAl2O4:Eu2+,Dy3+ long afterglow phosphors with one-dimensional nanostructures were synthesized by a hydrothermal method followed by post-annealing, and subsequently CdS was uniformly coated on their surfaces by a sol-gel approach. The nanocomposite system can significantly enhance the photocatalytic activity for the degradation of methyl orange and hexavalent chromium under ultraviolet and visible light irradiation. After the modification treatment with a 1 : 2 molar ratio of CdS to SrAl2O4:Eu2+,Dy3+ nanophosphors, the degradation rate of methyl orange can increase by 2.5 times and reach a maximum of 96.3% under visible light illumination for 30 min. The enhancement of photocatalytic activity originates from the improvement of light usage efficiency due to the hole migration from SrAl2O4:Eu2+,Dy3+ phosphors to the CdS semiconductor and the reutilization of SrAl2O4:Eu2+,Dy3+ luminescence.

Abstract
Metal-phosphorus-trichalcogenides (MPTs), represented by NiPS3, FePS3, etc, are newly developed 2D wide-bandgap semiconductors and have been proposed as excellent candidates for ultraviolet (UV) optoelectronics. In spite of having superior advantages for solar-blind UV photodetectors, including those free of surface trap states, being highly compatible with versatile integrations as well as having an appropriate band gap, to date relevant study is rare. In this work, the photoresponse characteristic of UV detectors based on few-layer FePS3 has been comprehensively investigated. The responsivity of the photodetector, which is observed to be determined by bias gate voltage, may achieve as high as 171.6 mAW-1 under the illumination of 254 nm weak light, which is comparable to most commercial UV detectors. Notably, both negative and positive photoconductivities exist in the FePS3 photodetectors and can be controllably switched with bias voltage. The eminent and novel photoresponse property paves the way for the further development and practical use of 2D MPTs in high-performance UV photodetections.

Abstract
Hybrid nanostructures can show enormous potential in different areas because of their unique structural configurations. Herein, Fe@Al2O3 hybrid nanotubes are constructed via a homogeneous coprecipitation method followed by subsequent annealing in a reducing atmosphere. The introduction of zero band gap Fe nanocrystals in the wall of ultrawide band gap Al2O3 insulator nanotubes results in the formation of charge trap centers, and correspondingly a single hybrid nanotube-based two-terminal device can show reversible negative resistive switching (RS) characteristics with symmetrical negative differential resistance (NDR) at relatively high operation bias voltages. At a large bias voltage, holes and electrons can be injected into traps at two ends from electrodes, respectively, and then captured. The bias voltage dependence of asymmetrical filling of charges can lead to a reversible variation of built-in electromotive force, and therefore the symmetrical negative RS with NDR arises from two reversible back-to-back series bipolar RS. At a low readout voltage, the single Fe@Al2O3 hybrid nanotube can show an excellent nonvolatile memory feature with a relatively large switching ratio of ∼30. The bias-governed reversible negative RS with superior stability, reversibility, nondestructive readout, and remarkable cycle performance makes it a potential candidate in next-generation erasable nonvolatile resistive random access memories.

Abstract
It is generally recognized that superhydrophobic surfaces in water may be used for corrosion resistance due to the entrapped air in the solid/liquid interface and could find potential applications in the protection of ship hull. For a superhydrophobic surface, as its immersion depth into water increases, the resultant hydrostatic pressure is also increased, and the entrapped air can be squeezed out much more easily. It is therefore predicted that high hydrostatic pressure would cause an unexpected decrease in corrosion resistance for the vessels in deep water (e.g., submarines) because of the unstable entrapped air. In this work, in order to clarify the role of hydrostatic pressure in the corrosion behavior of superhydrophobic surfaces, two typical superhydrophobic surfaces (SHSs) were prepared on bare and oxidized aluminum substrates, respectively, and then were immersed into the NaCl aqueous solutions with different depths of ∼0 cm (hydrostatic pressure ∼0 kPa), 10 cm (1 kPa), and 150 cm (15 kPa). It was found out for the SHSs on the oxidized Al, as the hydrostatic pressure increased, the corrosion behavior became severe. However, for the SHSs on the bare Al, their corrosion behavior was complex due to hydrostatic pressure. It was found that the corrosion resistance under 1 kPa was the highest. Further mechanism analysis revealed that this alleviated corrosion behavior under 1 kPa resulted from suppressing the oxygen diffusion through the liquid and reducing the subsequent corrosion rate as compared with 0 kPa, whereas the relatively low hydrostatic pressure (HP) could stabilize the entrapped air and hence enhance the corrosion resistance, compared with 15 kPa. The present study therefore provided a fundamental understanding for the applications of SHSs to prevent the corrosion, especially for various vessels in deep water.

Abstract
Heat stress (HS) negatively impacts several swine production variables, including carcass fat quality and quantity. Pigs reared in HS have more adipose tissue than energetically predicted, explainable, in part, by HS-induced hyperinsulinemia. Study objectives were to evaluate insulin's role in altering fat characteristics during HS via feeding insulin-sensitizing compounds. Forty crossbred barrows (113 ± 9 kg BW) were randomly assigned to one of five environment by diet treatments: 1) thermoneutral (TN) fed ad libitum (TNAL), 2) TN and pair-fed (TNPF), 3) HS fed ad libitum (HSAL), 4) HS fed ad libitum with sterculic oil (SO) supplementation (HSSO; 13 g/d), and 5) HS fed ad libitum with dietary chromium (Cr) supplementation (HSCr; 0.5 mg/d; Kemin Industries, Des Moines, IA). The study consisted of three experimental periods (P). During P0 (2 d), all pigs were exposed to TN conditions (23 ± 3 °C, 68 ± 10% RH) and fed ad libitum. During P1 (7 d), all pigs received their respective dietary supplements, were maintained in TN conditions, and fed ad libitum. During P2 (21 d), HSAL, HSSO, and HSCr pigs were fed ad libitum and exposed to cyclical HS conditions (28 to 33 °C, 58 ± 10% RH). The TNAL and TNPF pigs remained in TN conditions and were fed ad libitum or pair-fed to their HSAL counterparts. Rectal temperature (TR), respiration rate (RR), and skin temperature (TS) were obtained daily at 0600 and 1800 h. At 1800 h, HS exposed pigs had increased TR, RR, and TS relative to TNAL controls (1.13 °C, 48 bpm, and 3.51 °C, respectively; P < 0.01). During wk 2 and 3 of P2, HSSO pigs had increased 1800 h TR relative to HSAL and HSCr (~0.40 and ~0.42 °C, respectively; P ≤ 0.05). Heat stress decreased ADFI and ADG compared to TNAL pigs (2.24 vs. 3.28 and 0.63 vs. 1.09 kg/d, respectively; P < 0.01) and neither variable was affected by SO or Cr supplementation. Heat stress increased or tended to increase moisture content of abdominal (7.7 vs. 5.9%; P = 0.07) and inner s.c. (11.4 vs. 9.8%; P < 0.05) adipose depots compared to TNAL controls. Interestingly, TNPF pigs also had increased adipose tissue moisture content and this was most pronounced in the outer s.c. depot (15.0 vs. 12.2%; P < 0.01) compared to TNAL pigs. Heat stress had little or no effect on fatty acid composition of abdominal, inner, and outer s.c. adipose tissue depots. In summary, the negative effects of HS on fat quality do not appear to be fatty acid composition related, but may be explained by increased adipose tissue moisture content.

Abstract
Objectives: To investigate the social support status, related influential factors and the impact on one year outcome in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), our data might be helpful to provide basis for making new treatment strategy aimed at improving social support for patients with ACS. Methods: From January 2013 to June 2014, a total of 778 hospitalized patients with ACS were enrolled in the study. All patients completed enhancing recovery in coronary heart disease patients social support inventory(ESSI), general anxiety disorder scale(GAD-7), patient health questionnaire(PHQ-9), short-form 12 health survey questionnaire(SF-12), sleep questionnaire and demographic questionnaire within 7 days after admission and at 6 months and one year post discharge. Multiple linear regressions were performed to analyze factors that influenced the social support. Results: The total score of social support was 17.08±3.61, 17.72±3.04, and 17.76±3.05 respectively in patients with ACS at baseline, 6 months and 12 months after discharge. Patients had a higher point of social support at 6 months (t=-2.69, P<0.01) and 12 months (t=-2.86, P<0.01) after discharge than at baseline. Multiple regression analysis for baseline data identified five significant predictors of low social support status: workers or farmers (t=2.82, P<0.01), low family monthly income (t=2.42, P<0.05), anxiety (t=-3.66, P<0.01), depression (t=-3.22, P<0.01) and low quality of life (t=4.38, P<0.01). Conclusions: Social support of patients with ACS is lower in China, and there are significant relationships between low social support and occupation, economic status, anxiety, depression, quality of life of ACS patients.
