Abstract
Recent studies have suggested that REX1 (reduced expression 1) plays an important role in pluripotency, proliferation, and differentiation. However, the molecular mechanisms involved in REX1-dependent regulation of diverse cellular processes remain unclear. To elucidate the regulatory functions of REX1 in human embryonic stem cells (hESCs), comparative proteomic analysis was performed on REX1 RNAi specifically silenced hESCs. Analysis of the proteome via nano-LC-MS/MS identified 140 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) displaying a >2-fold difference in expression level between control and REX1 knockdown (KD) hESCs, which were then compared with transcriptome data and validated by quantitative real-time RT-PCR and Western blotting. These DEPs were analyzed by GO, pathway, and functional clustering analyses to determine the molecular functions of the proteins and pathways regulated by REX1. The REX1 KD-mediated DEPs mapped to major biological processes involved in the regulation of ribosome-mediated translation and mitochondrial function. Functional network analysis revealed a highly interconnected network among these DEPs and indicated that these interconnected proteins are predominantly involved in translation and the regulation of mitochondrial organization. These findings regarding REX1-mediated regulatory network have revealed the contributions of REX1 to maintaining the status of hESCs and have improved our understanding of the molecular events that underlie the fundamental properties of hESCs.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Although left atrium (LA) has played an important role in diastole, ischemic insult of atrium in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) has not been clearly evaluated. METHODS We hypothesized that LA function would be further decreased in AMI patients with a culprit lesion in the left circumflex branch (LCX). This was an observational cohort study in a single university hospital. Echocardiography was performed to evaluate left ventricular diastolic function, LA volume, and LA function. Systolic (LAS ) and late diastolic (LAA ) LA strain were measured using speckle tracking echocardiography. RESULTS Sixty-eight AMI patients treated with emergent or urgent percutaneous coronary intervention were enrolled. Global LAS strain was significantly lower in patients with a culprit lesion in the LCX than culprit lesions in other vessels (left anterior descending, 27.3 ± 6.8%; left circumflex, 20.1 ± 8.9%; right coronary artery, 23.3 ± 6.5%; P = 0.007). LA volume index did not differ significantly (P = 0.093). Other clinical and conventional echocardiographic parameters, including Doppler measurements, did not differ significantly. CONCLUSIONS Global LAS strain was lower in AMI patients with a culprit lesion in the LCX than those with culprit lesions in other vessels, without any significant difference in LA volume index. The lower global LAS strain might suggest decreased LA function resulting from ischemic insult by AMI with culprit lesions in the LCX.

Abstract
Bosonic superweakly interacting massive particles (super-WIMPs) are a candidate for warm dark matter. With the absorption of such a boson by a xenon atom, these dark matter candidates would deposit an energy equivalent to their rest mass in the detector. This is the first direct detection experiment exploring the vector super-WIMPs in the mass range between 40 and 120 keV. With the use of 165.9 day of data, no significant excess above background was observed in the fiducial mass of 41 kg. The present limit for the vector super-WIMPs excludes the possibility that such particles constitute all of dark matter. The absence of a signal also provides the most stringent direct constraint on the coupling constant of pseudoscalar super-WIMPs to electrons. The unprecedented sensitivity was achieved exploiting the low background at a level 10(-4) kg-1 keVee-1 day-1 in the detector.

Abstract
There has been little information regarding the impact of unrecognised brain infarctions (UBIs) on stroke outcome in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF). By using volumetric analysis of ischaemic lesions, we evaluated the potential impact of UBIs on clinical outcome according to their presence and categorised type. This study enrolled 631 patients with NVAF having no clinical stroke history. UBIs were categorised into three types as territorial, lacunar, or subcortical. We collected stroke severity, functional outcome at three months, and the total volume of UBIs and acute infarction lesions. We investigated the association between clinical outcome and the type or volume of UBI, using a linear mixed model and logistic regression analysis. UBIs were detected in 285 (45.2 %) patients; territorial UBIs were observed in 24.4 % of patients (154/631), lacunar UBIs in 25 % (158/631), and subcortical UBIs in 15.7 % (99/631). Although initial stroke severity was not different between patients with UBIs and those without, those with UBIs had less improvement during hospitalisation, leading to poorer outcome at three months. Among the three types of UBIs, only territorial UBIs were associated with poor outcome, especially in patients with relatively smaller acute infarction volume. UBIs, in particular, territorial UBIs, may be considered as predictors for poor outcome after ischaemic stroke in patients with NVAF. Our results suggest that the impact of UBIs on clinical outcome differs according to the type of UBIs and the acute stroke severity.

Abstract
Objectives: S taphylococcus aureus enterotoxins are known to induce an inflammatory response of the airways, increase sensitization to inhaled allergens, and decrease T-cell sensitivity to steroids. However, the effects of Staphylococcus enterotoxin A (SEA) on mucin secretion of airway epithelial cells have not yet been reported. Therefore, in this study, the effect and brief signaling pathway of SEA on MUC5B expression were investigated in human airway epithelial cells. Methods: In the mucin-producing human NCI-H292 airway epithelial cells and the primary cultures of normal nasal epithelial cells, the effect and signaling pathway of SEA on MUC5B expression were investigated using reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), real-time PCR, enzyme immunoassay, and immunoblot analysis with several specific inhibitors and small interfering RNA (siRNA). Results: SEA increased MUC5B mRNA and protein expression. Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) mRNA expression was significantly increased after treatment with SEA. Knockdown of TLR2 by siRNA significantly blocked SEA-induced MUC5B mRNA expression. SEA significantly activated phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK). U0126 (ERK1/2 MAPK inhibitor) and SB203580 (p38 MAPK inhibitor) significantly inhibited SEA-induced MUC5B mRNA expression. In addition, knockdown of ERK1/2 and p38 MAPK by siRNA significantly blocked SEA-induced MUC5B mRNA expression. Furthermore, the phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and p38 MAPK was significantly blocked by knockdown of TLR2 by siRNA. Conclusions: These results show for the first time that SEA induces MUC5B expression via TLR2, ERK1/2, and p38 MAPK signaling pathway in human airway epithelial cells.

Abstract
Objectives: Ciclesonide is an intranasal corticosteroid for the treatment of allergic rhinitis. To date, concrete evidence to justify a definitive recommendation of intranasal corticosteroid over oral antihistamine has not been demonstrated. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of once-daily ciclesonide in comparison to both levocetirizine alone, and a ciclesonide/levocetirizine combination in patients with seasonal (SAR) and perennial AR (PAR). Methods: Subjects exhibiting moderate to severe allergic rhinitis for longer than 1 year were randomized in an open-label, 3-arm, parallel group, multicenter study. Subjects received 200 µg ciclesonide, 5 mg levocetirizine, or a combination of both. Changes from baseline until the end-of-study visit (2 weeks following) were evaluated by reflective total nasal symptom scores (rTNSS), reflective total ocular symptom scores (rTOSS), physician-assessed overall nasal signs and symptoms severity (PANS), and rhinoconjunctivitis quality-of-life questionnaires (RQLQ). Results: Significant improvements in rTNSS, PANS, and RQLQ in the ciclesonide monotherapy group were observed in comparison to the levocetirizine alone group. Three individual symptoms of rTNSS were improved in the ciclesonide-treated group. rTOSS scores for ciclesonide monotherapy improved from baseline, but no superiority over levocetirizine was shown. Ciclesonide spray was more effective than levocetirizine in reducing nasal symptoms in both SAR and PAR patients. Ciclesonide and levocetrizine were well tolerated alone and in combination. Conclusions: Our results provide support for an AR and its Impact on Asthma (ARIA) recommendation stipulating that ciclesonide is superior to levocetirizine for the treatment of AR, with tolerable safety. Addition of levocetirizine to ciclesonide did not give further clinical benefit over monotherapy.

Abstract
We investigated three splicing factor proteins (SFPs; NSRP70, SRSF1, and HNRNPA1) in 187 adults with and without acute leukemia (AL). We showed that NSRP70 is a novel lymphoblastic AL (ALL) surrogate marker, which presented excellent diagnostic accuracy (92%) and disappeared during remission. Its highest molecular weight form, but not total amount, was associated with adverse genetic abnormalities in myeloid AL (AML). Furthermore, we identified that these SFPs were more prevalent in ALL than in AML; were not correlated with their mRNA levels; and their formations in AL may occur without coding mutations and relate to post-translational modifications.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Cardiac troponins are associated with increased mortality, even among patients with no coronary artery disease. Elevated cardiac troponin levels are frequently observed in patients without significant coronary lesions, although the mechanism underlying this finding is unclear. The aim of our study was to evaluate the association between the levels of cardiac troponin and coronary flow reserve (CFR). SUBJECTS AND METHODS We evaluated serum cardiac troponin-I in 19 patients (9 female; age 61.9±10.9 year-old). All patients had an ejection fraction >40% and angiographically normal coronary arteries. Simultaneous measurements of fractional flow reserve (FFR), the index of microcirculatory resistance (IMR), and CFR measurements using an intracoronary temperature- and pressure-sensing guidewire under basal conditions and during maximal hyperemia were performed in three vessels: the left anterior descending artery (LAD), left circumflex artery (LCX) and right coronary artery (RCA). RESULTS All patients were followed for a median of 13 months. FFR, IMR, and CFR measurements were performed successfully in all subjects. Mean CFRs of LAD, LCX, and RCA were 1.98±1.20, 2.75±2.11, and 4.44±2.51, respectively. Mean IMRs of LAD, LCX and RCA were 33.28±18.78, 29.11±26.70, and 30.55±23.65, respectively. There was a poor correlation between CFR and troponin-I values in each vessel. In selecting the lowest value of CFR in each patient as the corresponding value, the lowest CFR was not associated with troponin-I levels (r=-0.219, p=0.367). CONCLUSION In patients without significant coronary lesions, the correlation between CFR and troponin-I level was not significant using a thermodilution technique. Further study of a larger population with longer-term follow-up may be needed to more fully understand microvascular dysfunction.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Although the stent retriever (SR) has shown a better reperfusion rate and clinical outcome than the older generation mechanical clot retrieval device, it is uncertain whether the SR is superior to intra-arterial fibrinolysis (IAF). METHODS Ischaemic stroke patients who were treated with SR or IAF as initial endovascular treatment modality for unilateral arterial occlusion in the anterior circulation were included. Successful reperfusion was defined as Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction grade ≥2b. A favourable clinical outcome was defined as a modified Rankin Score ≤2 at 3 months. RESULTS Between January 2009 and May 2012, 55 patients were treated with SR and 50 patients were treated with IAF. The baseline characteristics were similar between the two groups except for the occlusion site and rescue treatment. In binary logistic regression analysis adjusted for the occlusion site and rescue treatment, SR was independently associated with increased successful reperfusion [82.0% vs. 47.3%; odds ratio (OR) 5.21; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.92-14.14) and a more favourable clinical outcome at 3 months (54.0% vs. 43.6%; OR 3.40; 95% CI 1.31-8.84). The frequency of symptomatic intracranial haemorrhage and mortality at 3 months was not different between the two groups. CONCLUSIONS Stent retriever was as safe as and more effective than IAF. Our findings suggest that SR may be considered as an initial modality rather than IAF in acute stroke patients who undergo endovascular treatment.

Abstract
Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm (SVA) is an uncommon anomaly of the aorta. Rupture of SVA often precipitates dramatic clinical complications, including heart failures. Right SVAs are the most common type, and when they rupture, they usually rupture into the right ventricle or right atrium. Rupture into left ventricle or interventricular septum is rare. Herein, we report a case of right SVA rupture with dissection into interventricular septum, which produced significant left ventricular outflow tract obstruction and aortic regurgitation. The case was successfully treated by surgical operation.

It has been generally assumed that mammals lack the ability to produce chitinase proteins, the enzymes responsible for chitin degradation. However, recent studies have demonstrated that mammals produce chitinases and chitinase-like proteins, and chitinase plays a potential role in human asthma and allergic inflammation. In this study, the effect and brief signaling pathway of chitinase on MUC5B expression were investigated in human airway epithelial cells. Methods: In the mucin-producing human NCI-H292 airway epithelial cells and the primary cultures of normal nasal epithelial cells, the effect and signaling pathway of chitinase on MUC5B expression were investigated using the reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), real-time PCR, enzyme immunoassay, and immunoblot analysis with several specific inhibitors and small interfering RNA (siRNA). In the primary cultures of normal nasal epithelial cells, chitinase significantly increased MUC5B gene expression, and this was significantly attenuated after pretreatment with SB203580. Conclusions: These results suggest that chitinase induces MUC5B expression by activation of the p38 MAPK signaling pathway in human airway epithelial cells.

Abstract
Protein functions are often revealed by their localization to specialized cellular sites. Recent reports demonstrated that swiprosin-1 is found together with actin and actin-binding proteins in the cytoskeleton fraction of human mast cells and NK-like cells. However, direct evidence of whether swiprosin-1 regulates actin dynamics is currently lacking. We found that swiprosin-1 localizes to microvilli-like membrane protrusions and lamellipodia and exhibits actin-binding activity. Overexpression of swiprosin-1 enhanced lamellipodia formation and cell spreading. In contrast, swiprosin-1 knockdown showed reduced cell spreading and migration. Swiprosin-1 induced actin bundling in the presence of Ca(2+), and deletion of the EF-hand motifs partially reduced bundling activity. Swiprosin-1 dimerized in the presence of Ca(2+) via its coiled-coil domain, and a lysine (Lys)-rich region in the coiled-coil domain was essential for regulation of actin bundling. Consistent with these observations, mutations of the EF-hand motifs and coiled-coil region significantly reduced cell spreading and lamellipodia formation. We provide new evidence of how swiprosin-1 influences cytoskeleton reorganization and cell spreading.

Abstract
Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma is occasionally associated with malignancies located in other regions of the alimentary tract, as well as in the head, neck, and upper respiratory tract. The stomach is most commonly used for reconstruction of the alimentary tract after esophagectomy for esophageal cancer. When synchronous tumors are located in the stomach, it is often unsuitable for use in esophageal reconstruction. In such cases, an invasive procedure involving anastomosis between the esophagus and the colon must be performed. However, this procedure is associated with a high incidence of mortality and morbidity. Seven patients with synchronous esophageal cancer and gastric epithelial neoplasia were encountered. First, endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) was performed for the gastric epithelial neoplasia. Then, following successful ESD, Ivor-Lewis esophagectomy for esophageal cancer was planned 1 to 2 weeks later. A total of 11 gastric epithelial lesions were found in seven patients. En bloc resection by ESD was possible in all 11 lesions and histologically complete resection was achieved in all 11 lesions. Follow-up endoscopy was done 1-2 weeks after ESD; six patients with well-healing ulcers underwent esophagectomy the next day (8 or 15 days after ESD). In one patient with a poorly healed ulcer, a second follow-up endoscopy was done 1 week later and then esophagectomy was performed the next day (22 days after ESD). Post-surgical complications related to ESD, such as bleeding or mediastinal leak, were not seen in any of the seven patients. In patients with synchronous esophageal cancer and gastric epithelial neoplasia, ESD for gastric epithelial neoplasia followed by Ivor-Lewis esophagectomy 1 to 2 weeks later is an effective choice of treatment.

Abstract
An experiment for the detection of 0νβ(+)/EC and 0νEC/EC in 92Mo nuclei has been carried out with a scintillating crystal, CaMoO4, in coincidence with the HPGe detector. We study the background events inside the event selection window for 0ν β(+)/EC decays of CaMoO4 detector. For 51.2 days of data taking period, we didn't observe any event in the neutrinoless EC/EC decay event window. The (92)Mo 0νβ(+)/EC decay half-life limit was set to 0.61×10(20) years with a 90% confidence by method of Feldman and Cousins. This ultra-low gamma ray measurement utilizing coincidence technique can be used for the resonant EC/EC decay process of some nuclei which is potentially important for neutrinoless double beta decay process.

Abstract
A fundamental understanding of chemical sensing mechanisms in graphene-based chemical field-effect transistors (chemFETs) is essential for the development of next generation chemical sensors. Here we explore the hidden sensing modalities responsible for tailoring the gas detection ability of pristine graphene sensors by exposing graphene chemFETs to electron donor and acceptor trace gas vapors. We uncover that the sensitivity (in terms of modulation in electrical conductivity) of pristine graphene chemFETs is not necessarily intrinsic to graphene, but rather it is facilitated by external defects in the insulating substrate, which can modulate the electronic properties of graphene. We disclose a mixing effect caused by partial overlap of the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) of adsorbed gas molecules to explain graphene's ability to detect adsorbed molecules. Our results open a new design space, suggesting that control of external defects in supporting substrates can lead to tunable graphene chemical sensors, which could be developed without compromising the intrinsic electrical and structural properties of graphene.

Abstract
Swiprosin-1 exhibits the highest expression in CD8+ T cells and immature B cells and has been proposed to play a role in lymphocyte biology through actin remodeling. However, regulation of swiprosin-1 gene expression is poorly understood. Here we report that swiprosin-1 is up-regulated in T cells by PKC pathway. Targeted inhibition of the specific protein kinase C (PKC) isotypes by siRNA revealed that PKC-θ is involved in the expression of swiprosin-1 in the human T cells. In contrast, down-regulation of swiprosin-1 by A23187 or ionomycin suggests that calcium-signaling plays a negative role. Interestingly, swiprosin-1 expression is only reduced by treatment with NF-κB inhibitors but not by NF-AT inhibitor, suggesting that the NF-κB pathway is critical for regulation of swiprosin-1 expression. Collectively, these results suggest that swiprosin-1 is a PKC-θ-inducible gene and that it may modulate the late phase of T cell activation after antigen challenge.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE CHADS2 and CHA2 DS2 -VASc scores are measurement tools that stratify thromboembolic risk in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, and are predictive of cerebral atherosclerosis, fatal stroke and ischaemic heart disease. Patients with higher CHADS2 and CHA2 DS2 -VASc scores are more likely to have had an akinetic/hypokinetic left ventricular segment or a recent myocardial infarction, all of which are associated with coronary artery disease (CAD). Most of the CHADS2 score components are also risk factors for atherosclerosis. Thus, CHADS2 and CHA2 DS2 -VASc scores may be predictive of CAD. METHODS In all, 1733 consecutive patients with acute ischaemic stroke who underwent multi-slice computed tomography coronary angiography were enrolled. The association of CHADS2 and CHA2 DS2 -VASc scores with the presence and severity of CAD was investigated. RESULTS Of the 1733 patients, 1220 patients (70.4%) had any degree of CAD and 576 (33.3%) had significant CAD (≥ 50% stenosis in at least one coronary artery). As the CHADS2 and CHA2 DS2 -VASc scores increased, the presence of CAD also increased (P < 0.001). The severity of CAD was correlated with CHADS2 score (Spearman coefficient 0.229, P < 0.001) and CHA2 DS2 -VASc score (Spearman coefficient 0.261, P < 0.001). In multivariate analysis, after adjusting for confounding factors, CHADS2 and CHA2 DS2 -VASc scores ≥2 were independently associated with CAD. The CHA2 DS2 -VASc score was a better predictor of the presence of CAD than the CHADS2 score on area under the curve analysis. CONCLUSION CHADS2 and CHA2 DS2 -VASc scores were predictive of the presence and severity of CAD in patients with stroke. When a patient has high CHADS2 or CHA2 DS2 -VASc scores, physicians should consider coronary artery evaluation.

Abstract
PURPOSE Cerebral ischemic lesions are frequently observed after carotid artery stenting (CAS), and anti-platelet agents are used to prevent stent thrombosis and peri-procedural complications. However, despite the premedication, cerebral ischemic lesions are observed, suggesting that they may rather be related to anti-platelet resistance. We, therefore, investigated the effects of anti-platelet resistance on the development of cerebral ischemic lesions after CAS. MATERIALS AND METHODS We retrospectively reviewed patients who received CAS and selected patients for whom brain MRI was performed within 24 hours after CAS and for whom anti-platelet resistance was checked. Anti-platelet resistance was examined by the VerifyNow system. We analyzed the correlation between anti-platelet resistance and cerebral ischemic lesions detected on follow-up MRI. RESULTS Among 76 patients, 45 (59.2%) developed new ischemic lesions after CAS. Twelve (15.8%) patients showed aspirin resistance and 50 (65.8%) patients showed clopidogrel resistance. Patients with a new ischemic lesion demonstrated a significantly greater frequency of clopidogrel resistance than those who had no new ischemic lesion (82.2% versus 41.9%, p=0.001). The frequency of aspirin resistance was not significantly different between the groups of patients with and without new ischemic lesions (20.0% versus 9.7%, p=0.340). In multivariate analysis, clopidogrel resistance was a significant risk factor for post-procedural cerebral ischemia. CONCLUSION Anti-platelet resistance can be used to predict new ischemic lesions after CAS. Anti-platelet resistance should be evaluated in all patients prior to CAS to prevent ischemic complications related to CAS.

Abstract
Although cardiac papillary fibroelastoma is rare, it is the most common primary tumor of cardiac valves. The clinical presentation of these tumors varies from asymptomatic to embolic complications. We report an asymptomatic case of papillary fibroelastoma of mitral valve which was diagnosed by transthoracic echocardiography. The tumor was successfully resected by surgery.

Abstract
AIM To compare chest digital tomosynthesis (DTS) with digital radiography for the detection of asbestos-related pleuropulmonary disease. MATERIALS AND METHODS The institutional review board approved this study and all participants gave informed consent. Forty-five participants with a history of asbestos exposure were examined with DTS and radiography. Low-dose multidetector computed tomography (CT) in the prone position served as the reference. Two observers evaluated all images for the presence of pleural abnormalities and asbestosis. Interobserver agreement was analysed by using the k statistic. Diagnostic performance of the two imaging methods was compared using McNemar's test. RESULTS Interobserver agreement regarding DTS findings was moderate to very good (k = 0.544-0.846) and superior to the radiographic findings (k = 0.236-1.000). Overall, the diagnostic accuracy of DTS for the lesion detection was significantly better than with radiography (all p < 0.05, except that for the comparison of diagnostic accuracy of DTS versus radiographic detection of left diaphragmatic plaques and asbestosis). DTS was more sensitive than radiography for the detection of asbestosis (82% versus 27%, p = 0.031). CONCLUSION DTS is more accurate than radiography in the detection of pleural plaques and more sensitive than radiography in the detection of asbestosis. Interobserver agreements with respect to the DTS findings were superior to the radiographic findings.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Cerebral microbleeds (CMBs) are extravasations of blood from lipohyalinized or amyloid angiopathic cerebral arterioles, and the presence and numbers of CMBs are significantly associated with the development of oral anticoagulation (OA)-related intracranial haemorrhage (ICH). The aim of this study was to investigate whether there is a difference in CMBs burden according to CHADS(2) scores or CHA(2) DS(2) -VASc scores in non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) patients. METHODS We included 550 ischaemic stroke patients who had NVAF and who had undergone brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with gradient-recalled echo (GRE) T2 sequences from our prospective stroke registry between January 2005 and November 2011. We calculated CHADS(2) scores and CHA(2) DS(2) -VASc scores for all patients based on their underlying cardiovascular diseases. The presence, location and number of CMBs were assessed in each patient. We also investigated whether the CMBs were actually associated with the development of ICH during follow-up. RESULTS The mean patient age was 70.4 ± 10.5 years, and 324 (58.9%) patients were men. One-hundred and seventy-three patients (31.5%) had CMBs detected on GRE MRI. Higher CHADS(2) scores or CHA(2) DS(2) -VASc scores were strongly associated with the presence and number of CMBs. During follow-up of median 3.1 ± 1.6 years, the presence of CMBs was independently associated with the development of ICH, whilst the CHADS(2) scores or CHA(2) DS(2) -VASc scores were not. CONCLUSIONS Considering the positive association between the presence of CMBs and OA-related ICH, our results suggest that the increase in ICH in high-risk groups during OA may be related to an increased burden of CMBs.

Aorto-right ventricular fistula is a very rare complication of aortic dissection. We report a case of acute aortic dissection extending into the right ventricle as documented by echocardiography. The patient survived after successful surgical repair.

Abstract
We installed seaweed reef for restoration of barron ground coast. We hollowed out a U-shaped groove in a cross-shaped artificial seaweed reef and covered it with a zinc sheet (U-bar) to transplant Ecklonia cava growing on Dellenia wood by hand, installing the U-bar on the artificial seaweed reef, fixing it with concrete. Thus seaweed can be attached easily, with pre-installed stainless bolts and nuts. The length of Ecklonia cava leaf transplanted to the cross-shaped reef was 7.2 cm in February 2005 reached its maximum size, 35.9 cm (n = 30) by July. Thereafter, it decreased to 18.9 cm in October due to shedding. The leaf weight after the experiment was 24.8 from the initial 0.4 cm (n = 30). Regression analysis showed Y = 0.7875X-4.6488 (R2 = 0.7225) for blade length and Y = 0.0025X2.6733 (R2 = 0.8711) for leaf weight. The high values of the R2 values for the two measurements were highly reliable, with the reliability of the linear regression function higher than that of the functions of 2 variables. The artificial seaweed forest constructed in the barren ground was highly comparable with natural seaweed forest in terms of growth, indicating that the artificial seaweed construction can be done in an easy, efficient and economically viable way. This further indicates that the technology developed by the present study can be extensively used for the project for artificial seaweed forest construction.
