Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the treatment strategy for subcutaneous fistula secondary to cerebrospinal fluid leakage (CSFL) in thoracic spinal stenosis (TSS) cases. METHODS In the study, 186 CSFL cases diagnosed with TSS and operated in general spine group of Department of Orthopedics, Peking University Third Hospital from January 2005 to December 2014 were retrospectively reviewed, of which eleven had subcutaneous fistula secondary to CSFL and were regularly followed up. Treatment strategy for subcutaneous fistula depended on the severity of CSFL and the recovery rate of thoracic myelopathy. Japanese Orthopedic Association (JOA) score was utilized to evaluate the neurologic status of these patients preoperatively and postoperatively. Statistical analysis was conducted between preoperative and postoperative JOA scores. RESULTS All of the 11 patients were regularly followed up for at least 24 months. Six of them had ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL) combined with ossification of ligamentum flavum (OLF), all of them undertook "cave-in" 360° circumferential decompression of the spinal cord with instrumentation. Five cases had OLF only, and received En bloc resection of lamina and OLF and fixation. The follow-up period ranged from 30 months to 131 months, and averaged at (85±34) months. Preoperative symptoms lasted from 3 months to 8 years, and the median was 18 months. Drainages were placed for 2-6 days, and averaged at (4.2±1.1) days. Ten cases appeared with fever during the perioperative period, the maximum body temperature was (37.3-39.7) °C. Prolonged antibiotics were applied in two cases with high fever. Ten cases were treated with conservative methods, CSFL were completely absorbed during the follow-up time, of which compressive dressing was utilized in 8 cases, and punctures combined with compressive dressing were used in 2 cases. For only 1 case, conservative therapy failed and reoperation was required because of neurological deterioration arising from CSF pseudocyst. For these 11 cases, preoperative JOA score arose from (3.8±1.6) preoperatively to (8.9±1.2) at the end of the final follow-up, the recovery rate was 70.8%. No infection of wound or central nerve system were noticed, and neither were unhealing wound. CONCLUSION Most TSS cases with subcutaneous fistula secondary to CSFL could be cured by conservative methods, and reoperation is required only if myelopathy caused by cerebrospinal fluid pseudocyst is identified.

Abstract
For high-water content hydrogels in compression, the water inside of hydrogels contributes to the response of hydrogels to external loads directly, but part of the water is expelled from hydrogels in the meantime to change the volume of the hydrogel and reduce the contribution. In order to consider the contribution of the water in the constitution equation, PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) hydrogels with high-water content were used as examples, and compressive experiments were carried out to measure both the stress-strain relation and the change of the volume in the meantime. By considering the effect of the difference of the contribution of water in different directions of the hydrogel, we deduced a new constitutive equation, which can pretty well depict the stress-strain of hydrogels with different water contents. The results showed that the contribution of water to the total stress increases with the compression strain and even exceed that of the polymer, although the expelled water reduces the contribution at the early loading stage, which well explains the difference of elastic moduli of hydrogels in compression and tension.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess whether the same biological conclusion, diagnostic or curative effects regarding microbial composition of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) patients could be reached through different bioinformatics pipelines, we used two common bioinformatics pipelines (Uparse V2.0 and Mothur V1.39.5)to analyze the same fecal microbial 16S rRNA high-throughput sequencing data. METHODS The two pipelines were used to analyze the diversity and richness of fecal microbial 16S rRNA high-throughput sequencing data of 27 samples, including 9 healthy controls (HC group), 9 diarrhea IBS patients before (IBS group) and after Rifaximin treatment (IBS-treatment, IBSt group). Analyses such as microbial diversity, principal co-ordinates analysis (PCoA), nonmetric multidimensional scaling (NMDS) and linear discriminant analysis effect size (LEfSe) were used to find out the microbial differences among HC group vs. IBS group and IBS group vs. IBSt group. RESULTS (1) Microbial composition comparison of the 27 samples in the two pipelines showed significant variations at both family and genera levels while no significant variations at phylum level; (2) There was no significant difference in the comparison of HC vs. IBS or IBS vs. IBSt (Uparse: HC vs. IBS, F=0.98, P=0.445; IBS vs. IBSt, F=0.47,P=0.926; Mothur: HC vs.IBS, F=0.82, P=0.646; IBS vs. IBSt, F=0.37, P=0.961). The Shannon index was significantly decreased in IBSt; (3) Both workshops distinguished the significantly enriched genera between HC and IBS groups. For example, Nitrosomonas and Paraprevotella increased while Pseudoalteromonadaceae and Anaerotruncus decreased in HC group through Uparse pipeline, nevertheless Roseburia 62 increased while Butyricicoccus and Moraxellaceae decreased in HC group through Mothur pipeline.Only Uparse pipeline could pick out significant genera between IBS and IBSt, such as Pseudobutyricibrio, Clostridiaceae 1 and Clostridiumsensustricto 1. CONCLUSION There were taxonomic and phylogenetic diversity differences between the two pipelines, Mothur can get more taxonomic details because the count number of each taxonomic level is higher. Both pipelines could distinguish the significantly enriched genera between HC and IBS groups, but Uparse was more capable to identity the difference between IBS and IBSt groups. To increase the reproducibility and reliability and to retain the consistency among similar studies, it is very important to consider the impact on different pipelines.

Abstract
In this study, the low energy radiation responses of AlAs, GaAs and GaAs/AlAs superlattice are simulated and the radiation damage effects on their electronic structures are investigated. It is found that the threshold displacement energies for AlAs are generally larger than those for GaAs, i.e., the atoms in AlAs are more difficult to be displaced than those in GaAs under radiation environment. As for GaAs/AlAs superlattice, the Ga and Al atoms are more susceptible to the radiation than those in the bulk AlAs and GaAs, whereas the As atoms need comparable or much larger energies to be displaced than those in the bulk states. The created defects are generally Frenkel pairs, and a few antisite defects are also created in the superlattice structure. The created defects are found to have profound effects on the electronic properties of GaAs/AlAs superlattice, in which charge transfer, redistribution and even accumulation take place, and band gap narrowing and even metallicity are induced in some cases. This study shows that it is necessary to enhance the radiation tolerance of GaAs/AlAs superlattice to improve their performance under irradiation.

Abstract
Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are widely employed in industrial applications and scientific research. However, spectral distortions will occur due to the broadening effects of the spectrometer when an LED spectrum is obtained with a spectrometer. In this paper, a novel approach is put forward to correct bandwidth for an LED spectrum based on a Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm and He-Zheng model. We compare estimation errors of different LED spectra by using the proposed method along with the Richardson-Lucy method and differential operator approach. The experimental results show that the effect of the proposed approach is better than that of the other two methods.

Abstract
The meson cloud distributions in r-space are extracted from the nucleon electromagnetic and axial form factors which are derived in the perturbative chiral quark model. The theoretical results indicate that the magnetic charge and axial charge distributions of the three-quark core have the similar distributions in r-space, the magnetic charge distributions of the meson cloud and three-quark core are more or less in the same region and peak at distances of around 0.4 fm, which is in good agreement with the finding of works in the framework of chiral perturbation theory, but the axial charge meson cloud distributes mainly inside the three-quark core.

Abstract
In this study, a density functional theory method is employed to investigate the effects of isovalent and aliovalent substitution of Sm3+ on the phase stability, thermo-physical properties and electronic structure of Gd2Zr2O7. It is shown that the isovalent substitution of Sm3+ for Gd3+ results in the formation of Gd2Zr2O7-Sm2Zr2O7 solid solution, which retains the pyrochlore structure and has slight effects on the elastic moduli, ductility, Debye temperature and band gap of Gd2Zr2O7. As for the aliovalent substitution of Sm3+ for Zr4+ site, a pyrochlore-to-defect fluorite structural transition is induced, and the mechanical, thermal properties and electronic structures are influenced significantly. As compared with the Gd2Zr2O7, the resulted Gd2SmyZr2-yO7 compositions have much smaller elastic moduli, better ductility and smaller Debye temperature. Especially, an amount of electrons distribute on the fermi level and they are expected to have larger thermal conductivity than Gd2Zr2O7. This study suggests an alternative way to engineer the thermo-physical properties of Gd2Zr2O7 and will be beneficial for its applications under stress and high temperature.

Abstract
Objective: Using optical coherence tomography (OCT) to analyze the morphological characteristics of lesions between early in-stent restenosis (E-ISR) and very late in-stent restenosis (VL-ISR) after drug-eluting stents (DES) implantation. Methods: In 25 patients (DES) with ISR, OCT images were acquired before percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), the morphological characteristics of E-ISR (<1 years, n=14) and VL-ISR (>3 years, n=11) were compared. The quantitative and qualitative analysis of the entire stent and the minimum lumen area (MLA) site were carried out respectively. OCT quantitative restenotic tissue analysis included the assessment of mean lumen area, mean stent area, mean neointimal area and mean neointimal burden.OCT qualitative restenotic tissue analysis included the assessment of tissue structure [homogeneous or heterogeneous intima (lipid-rich neoitima, thin-cap fibroatheroma (TCFA)-like intima)], presence of microvessels, intraluminal material (red thrombus, pale thrombus), disrupted intima with cavity and tissue prolapse and was performed at every 1-mm slice of the entire stent. Results: Compared with the E-ISR group, the proportion of cross-sections with heterogeneous intima in the entire stent was significantly higher in the VL-ISR group (60.57% vs 32.93%, P=0.005), and both peristent and intraintimal microvessels were more frequently observed in the VL-ISR group (P<0.05). In addition, lipid-rich neointima (72.7% vs 21.4%, P=0.017), TCFA-like intima (54.5% vs 7.1%, P=0.021), disrupted intima with visible cavity (63.6% vs 7.1%, P=0.007) and red thrombus (63.6% vs 7.1%, P=0.007) were observed more frequently in the VL-ISR group compared with E-ISR group for the entire stent. The heterogeneous intima was observed more frequently in the VL-ISR group (90.9% vs 35.7%, P=0.012) at the MLA sites.Intraintimal microvessels and disrupted intima with visible cavity were observed only in the VL-ISR group. Conclusions: OCT imaging indicates that the morphological characteristics of restenosis lesions in VL-ISR are different from those in E-ISR.The atherosclerotic changes of neointima, such as lipid-rich neointima, disrupted intima with cavity and microvessels are more often observed in VL-ISR lesions after DES implantation compared with E-ISR.Progression of the atherosclerosis within neointima after DES implantation may be associated with VL-ISR.

Abstract
The effect of sulfite pretreatment to overcome recalcitrance of lignocellulose (SPORL) on composition, structure, enzymatic hydrolysis and cellulase adsorption profiles of sugarcane bagasse (SCB) was investigated. SPORL gave a higher SCB hydrolysis yield (85.33%) compared to dilute acid pretreatment (DA) (64.39%). The SEM pictures showed that SPORL SCB structure became more disordered and looser, suggesting SPORL SCB was more accessible to cellulase. The zeta potential of SPORL SCB suspension (-21.89mV) was significantly different from that of DA SCB (-12.87mV), which demonstrated the lignin in SPORL SCB was more hydrophilic. With regard to cellulase adsorption profiles, SPORL SCB had a lower non-productive adsorption (14.87mg/glignin) and a higher productive adsorption (37.67 mg/gcarbohydrate) compared with DA SCB (17.05mg/glignin; 25.79mg/gcarbohydrate). These results indicated that SPORL SCB had better accessibility to cellulase and the higher productive cellulase adsorption of SPORL SCB had improved hydrolysis.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the risk factors of cardiac rupture in patients with acute myocardial infarction. Methods: Clinical data were analyzed from 10 284 acute myocardial infarction patients admitted to Beijing Anzhen Hospital from January 2012 to March 2015. Cardiac rupture occurred in 81 patients, including 67 patients of acute left ventricular free wall rupture and 14 patients of ventricular septal defect, were retrospectively analyzed. Binary logistics regression analysis was performed to analyze the risk factors of cardiac rupture. Results: Incidence of cardiac rupture was significantly higher in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction than in patients with non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (1.5%(70/4 724) vs. 0.2%(11/5 560), P<0.01). Binary logistic regression analysis showed that age (OR=0.827, 95%CI 0.726-0.941, P<0.01), recurrent myocardial infarction during hospital(OR=0.001, 95%CI 0.000-0.418, P<0.05), systolic blood pressure(OR=1.114, 95%CI 1.029-1.206, P<0.01), left anterior descending artery lesion (OR=0.003, 95%CI 0.000-0.334, P<0.05), lower hemoglobin(OR=1.129, 95%CI 1.051-1.212, P<0.01), serum total protein (OR=1.453, 95%CI 1.070-1.971, P<0.05), and serum magnesium level (OR=0.000, 95%CI 0.000-0.001, P<0.01) were associated with cardiac rupture. Conclusion: Older age, recurrent myocardial infarction, lower systolic blood pressure, left anterior descending artery lesion, lower serum hemoglobin, lower serum total protein, and higher serum magnesium level are risk factors of cardiac rupture and these factors should be carefully managed to prevent the occurrence of cardiac rupture.

Abstract
The properties of the nonlinear frequency shift (NFS), especially the fluid NFS from the harmonic generation of the ion-acoustic wave (IAW) in multi-ion species plasmas, have been researched by Vlasov simulation. Pictures of the nonlinear frequency shift from harmonic generation and particle trapping are shown to explain the mechanism of NFS qualitatively. The theoretical model of the fluid NFS from harmonic generation in multi-ion species plasmas is given, and the results of Vlasov simulation are consistent with the theoretical result of multi-ion species plasmas. When the wave number kλ_{De} is small, such as kλ_{De}=0.1, the fluid NFS dominates in the total NFS and will reach as large as nearly 15% when the wave amplitude |eϕ/T_{e}|∼0.1, which indicates that in the condition of small kλ_{De}, the fluid NFS dominates in the saturation of stimulated Brillouin scattering, especially when the nonlinear IAW amplitude is large.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the treatment of surgical site infection(SSI) after spine surgery. METHODS Sixty-seven patients (aged 20-77 years with mean age of 51 years) with etiologically-confirmed surgical site infection after spine surgery in Peking University Third Hospital between July 2004 and December 2012 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 39 male and 28 female patients; 47 lumbar infections, 4 thoracic infections, 7 lower cervical infections and 8 upper cervical infections; 64 early infections and 3 delayed infections; 23 superficial infections and 44 deep infections; 47 monomicrobial infections and 20 polymicrobial infections. Ninety-six strains of bacteria were identified from the bacterial culture of 67 patients. Sixty strains were gram-positive pathogenic bacteria (62.5%), and the top three species were Staphylococcus aureus, S. epidermidis and Enterococcus faecalis. The remaining 36 strains were gram-negative pathogenic bacteria (37.5%), and the 3 species most predominant were Escherichia coli, Enterobacter cloacae, and Acinetobacter baumannii. All the patients with SSI were administered antibiotics. Debridement and irrigation-suction was performed if little symptomatic improvement was achieved in two-to-three days of antibiotics treatment, patients underwent 1-5 times of debridements (mean 1.5 times). RESULTS One patient was dead of MRSA septicemia, whom manifested as high fever, alalia and incision swelling when the infection occurred. The patient underwent polymicrobial of pulmonary infection and urinary tract infection during the period of hospitalization, and finally died of multiple organ failure. Sixty-six cases had wound healed, and they were followed up for 25-117 months (average 70 months), no recurrence of infection was found at last follow-up. Among the 65 cases of internal fixation, 56 cases reserved the implants, while implants were removed in other 9 cases for controlling infection. CONCLUSION Reasonable antibiotics and irrigation-suction are effective methods for managing surgical site infections after spine surgery and prevent removal of implants.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the prevalence and clinical features of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) in diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D) patients detected by hydrogen and methane in lactulose breath test (LBT), and to study the effects of rifaximin in IBS-D patients. METHODS Consecutive patients with IBS-D who met Rome Ⅲ criteria, and gender- and age-matched healthy volunteers were enrolled from March 2015 to January 2016 in Peking University Third Hospital. All the ISB-D patients underwent LBT to detect the prevalence of SIBO. The clinical and LBT features of IBS with SIBO (IBS-P group) and without SIBO (IBS-N group) were analyzed. The effects of rifaximin therapy (0.4 g, twice per day for 4 weeks) in IBS-D patients were evaluated by comparing changes in clinical features and LBT results after treatment. RESULTS (1) Eighty-four IBS-D patients and 22 healthy controls were enrolled. The prevalence of SIBO in IBS-D patients was 41.67% (35/84), with 27 (77.14%) only hydrogen-positive, 5 (14.29%) methane-positive, and 3 (8.57%) both methane- and hydrogen-positive. (2) The body mass index (BMI) in the IBS-P group was lower than in the IBS-N group [(21.61±0.57) vs (23.44±0.54) kg/m(2,) P<0.05], the maximum stool frequency was also less than in the IBS-N group [(3.85±0.23) vs (4.88±0.35) times/day, P<0.05]. (3) No significant difference was found in oro-cecal transit time (OCTT) among IBS-P, IBS-N and healthy controls. The hydrogen concentration in small intestinal and colonic sections in breath of the IBS-P group was higher than that of both healthy controls and the IBS-N group, while methane concentration in small intestinal and colonic sections (160 min) was higher than that of the IBS-N group (all P<0.05). (4) There was no linear relationship between mean hydrogen and methane concentrations in LBT among the IBS-P, the IBS-N and healthy control groups (all r<0.35, P>0.05). (5) Totally 13 IBS-P patients received rifaximin therapy, in whom the symptoms of abdomen pain, bloating, fecal consistency, stool frequency, and stool satisfactory were significantly improved after treatment (all P<0.05); 8 IBS-N patients received rifaximin therapy, in whom fecal consistency, stool frequency, and satisfactory were significantly improved (all P<0.05). (6) And 5/13 of the IBS-P patients receiving rifaximin presented negative LBT results after rifaximin therapy, with lower hydrogen concentration at all the time points, especially in colonic section (120 min) [(34.54±7.32) ×10(-6) vs (52.23±9.40) ×10(-6,) P<0.05] and lower methane concentration especially in small intestinal section (80 min) [(8.54±0.95) ×10(-6) vs (11.31±0.94) ×10(-6,) P<0.05]. CONCLUSIONS About 41.67% of the IBS-D patients meeting Rome Ⅲ criteria have SIBO, which can be better screened by combining hydrogen and methane in LBT compared with only hydrogen in LBT. SIBO can affect nutritional status in IBS-D patients. Rifaximin can improve the systematic symptoms of IBS-D patients with SIBO, also reduce hydrogen and methane concentration in breath, while only improving diarrhea in IBS-D patients without SIBO. Some differences in gut microbiota may exist between IBS-D with and without SIBO.

Abstract
In this study, the immune response induced by a mixture of polysaccharide and nucleic acid extracted from Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) was evaluated in chickens inoculated with infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) vaccine. After the mixture was injected intramuscularly at a dose of 0.075, 0.15 or 0.3 mg·kg(-1)·day(-1) for 3 days, the 14-day-old chickens were inoculated with the attenuated IBDV vaccine via intranasal and ocular routes. The relative weight of bursa of Fabricius (BF) and thymus, the serum IBD antibody titer, the CD4+/CD8+ ratio, and the concentrations of IFN-γ, IL-2 and IL-6 in peripheral blood were investigated on days 5, 15 and 25. The IBD antibody titer in BCG-treated groups was higher than in the negative control and only IBD-vaccinated chickens, indicating that the mixture of BCG can significantly enhance chicken humoral response. CD4+/CD8+ and the secretions of IFN-γ, IL-2 and IL-6 were also clearly increased compared with that in the negative control and IBD-vaccinated chickens, indicating that the mixture can also enhance the cell-mediated immune response. The results also showed that the relative weights of BF and thymus increased after chickens were inoculated with BCG, indicating that the BCG mixture can clearly enhance the immunity of IBD-vaccine and can be expected to be viewed as a candidate for a new type of immune adjuvant.

Abstract
In this study, an ab initio molecular dynamics method is employed to investigate how the existence of stacking faults (SFs) influences the response of SiC to low energy irradiation. It reveals that the C and Si atoms around the SFs are generally more difficult to be displaced than those in unfaulted SiC, and the corresponding threshold displacement energies for them are generally larger, indicative of enhanced radiation tolerance caused by the introduction of SFs, which agrees well with the recent experiment. As compared with the unfaulted state, more localized point defects are generated in faulted SiC. Also, the efficiency of damage production for Si recoils is generally higher than that of C recoils. The calculated potential energy increases for defect generation in SiC with intrinsic and extrinsic SFs are found to be higher than those in unfaulted SiC, due to the stronger screen-Coulomb interaction between the PKA and its neighbors. The presented results provide a fundamental insight into the underlying mechanism of displacement events in faulted SiC and will help to advance the understanding of the radiation response of SiC with and without SFs.

Abstract
UNLABELLED The ultimate goal of osteoporosis treatment is prevention of fragile fracture. Local treatment targeting specific bone may decrease the incidence of osteoporotic fractures. We developed an injectable, thermosensitive simvastatin/poloxamer 407 hydrogel; a single CT-guided percutaneous intraosseous injection augmented vertebrae in ovariectomized minipigs. INTRODUCTION The greatest hazard associated with osteoporosis is local fragility fractures. An adjunct, local treatment might be helpful to decrease the incidence of osteoporotic fracture. Studies have found that simvastatin stimulates bone formation, but the skeletal bioavailability of orally administered is low. Directly delivering simvastatin to the specific bone that is prone to fractures may reinforce the target bone and reduce the incidence of fragility fractures. METHODS We developed an injectable, thermosensitive simvastatin/poloxamer 407 hydrogel, conducted scanning electron microscopy, rheological, and drug release analyses to evaluate the delivery system; injected it into the lumbar vertebrae of ovariectomized minipigs via minimally invasive CT-guided percutaneous vertebral injection. Three months later, BMD, microstructures, mineral apposition rates, and strength were determined by DXA, micro-CT, histology, and biomechanical test; expression of VEGF, BMP2, and osteocalcin were analyzed by immunohistochemistry and Western blots. RESULTS Poloxamer 407 is an effective controlled delivery system for intraosseous-injected simvastatin. A single injection of the simvastatin/poloxamer 407 hydrogel significantly increased BMD, bone microstructure, and strength; the bone volume fraction and trabecular thickness increased nearly 150 %, bone strength almost doubled compared with controls (all P < 0.01); and induced higher expression of VEGF, BMP2, and osteocalcin. CONCLUSIONS CT-guided percutaneous vertebral injection of a single simvastatin/poloxamer 407 thermosensitive hydrogel promotes bone formation in ovariectomized minipigs. The underlying mechanism appears to involve the higher expression of VEGF and BMP-2.

Abstract
Previous studies have revealed that the expression level of microRNA-29a (miR-29a) was remarkably different in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients and healthy controls, indicating that miR-29a can be used as a diagnostic marker of CRC, but the results have been inconsistent. We conducted this meta-analysis to assess the diagnostic performance of blood-based miR-29a for CRC. We performed a systematic review of studies published over the past two decades to investigate the diagnostic performance of serum miR-29a for the diagnosis of CRC. QUADAS-2 was used to evaluate the quality of the studies. Performance characteristics (diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, and other measures of accuracy) were pooled and examined using random-effect models. Five studies, which included 281 CRC patients and 299 healthy controls, met the inclusion criteria. The summary estimates for miR-29a in CRC diagnoses showed a diagnostic sensitivity of 0.59 (95%CI = 0.53-0.65), a specificity of 0.89 (95%CI = 0.85-0.93), and a diagnostic odds ratio of 12.22 (95%CI = 5.07-29.44). The area under curve and Q value for the summary receiver operating characteristic curves were 0.9128 and 0.8453, respectively. In conclusion, miR-29a may be a novel potential biomarker for CRC diagnosis.

Protective effect of interleukin-10 and recombinant human keratinocyte growth factor-2 on ventilation-induced lung injury in rats. GENETICS AND MOLECULAR RESEARCH 2015; 14:15642-51. Abstract
A rat model of ventilation-induced lung injury (VILI) during anesthesia was generated to investigate the potential role and possible mechanism of interleukin-10 (IL-10) and recombinant human keratinocyte growth factor-2 (rhKGF-2) in protecting anesthetized rats against VILI. A total of 50 male SD rats were randomly divided into 5 groups (N = 10 each): control, VILI, IL-10, rhKGF-2, and IL-10 + rhKGF-2. The VILI (model) group was generated via ventilation, with a tidal volume of 20 mL/kg. Rats in the IL-10 and rhKGF-2 groups received 8 mg/kg IL-10 and 5 mg/kg rhKGF-2, respectively, prior to ventilation. The rats in the IL-10 + rhKGF-2 group received both 8 mg/kg IL-10 and 5 mg/kg rhKGF-2 72 h before ventilation. The total number of nucleated cells and neutrophils in the bronchial alveolar lavage fluid was quantified, and the pathological changes in the pulmonary tissues examined by hematoxylin and eosin staining. The transcript and protein levels of surfactant protein C (SP-C) in lung tissues were detected by real-time polymerase chain reaction and western blot analyses. The SP-C mRNA expression in both IL-10 and rhKGF-2 groups was similar to that in the VILI group. However, this was significantly elevated in the combined treatment group (P < 0.05), indicating that IL-10 and rhKGF-2 could synergistically protect the lung tissue from VILI via the enhancement of SP-C mRNA expression in lung tissues. The protein assay showed a decreased level of infiltration and activation of inflammatory cells, in addition to increased expression of SP-C, thereby confirming the efficacy of this treatment in preventing VILI during anesthesia.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the relationship between spino-pelvic sagittal and coronal parameters in Lenke 1 group of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). METHODS The subjects were retrospectively collected from 2005 to 2013. On the posteroanterior and lateral radiographs, apical vertebra (AV), Cobb angle of main thoracic curve (MT), pelvic incidence (PI), C7 translation ratio (C7TR) and other sagittal parameters were measured and recorded. Comparison and correlation studies were conducted between these parameters using specific softwares. RESULTS In the study, 51 subjects, including 18 males and 33 females, were recruited, aged (14.9±2.0) years averagely. The apical vertebra ranged from T7 to T11,with mean MT being 49.6°±16.7°, and mean PI 44.7°±6.7°. Significant correlation existed between PI and PT, SS, LL, as well as between LL and SS, TK (P <0.05). Significant differences were found in TK, LL and SS among the different LM groups, but no difference in the other sagittal parameters. AV had no significant correlation with any sagittal parameter. MT was significantly correlated with TK, LL and SS, but its correlation with PI was not significant. CONCLUSION Most of sagittal parameters were significantly correlated in Lenke 1 adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, forming a regulation chain of spine-pelvic sagittal balance on the basis of PI. Significant correlation exists between some sagittal and coronal parameters.

Abstract
To understand the function of myoglobin (Mb) and cytoglobin (Cygb) in channel catfish Ictalurus punctatus in response to heat stress, mb and cygb genes were identified and characterized in this study. These genes were widely expressed in all the tested tissues, but strong tissue preferences were observed, with the mb gene being expressed most highly in the heart, cygb1 most highly expressed in the intestine and cygb2 most highly expressed in the brain. After heat-stress challenge, mb and cygb genes were up-regulated in almost all tested tissues. In general, such up-regulation was more dramatic in the tolerant group than in the intolerant group, suggesting that higher expression of mb and cygb genes contributed to greater tolerance of I. punctatus to heat stress.
