Abstract
OBJECTIVE To analyze the impact of different surgical methods on perioperative complication rate after radical cystectomy in patients over 75 years of age. METHODS A retrospective study reviewed 1 432 patients who received radical cystectomy from January 2003 to January 2015. A total of 239 patients were ≥75 years (median age: 78 years), of whom, 74 patients (31.0%) suffered one or more perioperative complications. According to the different operation methods, patients could be divided into ileal conduit group and cutaneous ureterostomy group. The ileal conduit group included laparoscopic and open radical cystectomy with ileal conduit. The cutaneous ureterostomy group included transperitoneal laparoscopic, transperitoneal and extraperitoneal open radical cystectomy with cutaneous ureterostomy. RESULTS Perioperative complications were significantly associated with the patient's age (P=0.012), American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) score (P=0.001), node staging (P=0.043), and different surgical methods. Perioperative complications caused a prolonged hospital stay and delayed recovery (34 d vs. 21 d, P=0.002). For different surgical methods, the perioperative complication rate of ileal conduit was higher than cutaneous ureterostomy (P=0.013). However, there were no significant differences between transperitoneal laparoscopic and open radical cystectomy with ileal conduit in perioperative complication rate (P=0.836). The perioperative complication rate was statistically significant among transperitoneal laparoscopic, transperitoneal and extraperitoneal open radical cystectomy with cutaneous ureterostomy (P=0.022). On multivariate analysis, age (hazard ratio=4.856, 95% CI: 1.465-16.103, P=0.010), ASA score (P=0.008), and different surgical methods (P=0.016) were significantly associated with the perioperative complication rate. CONCLUSION The perioperative complication rate after radical cystectomy in elderly patients was associated with the patients' age, ASA score, and different surgical methods. Patients who received extraperitoneal open radical cystectomy with cutaneous ureterostomy suffered fewer perioperative complications, which was an appropriate choice for elderly patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To evaluate the efficacy and safety of abiraterone acetate-prednisone versus placebo-prednisone in Asian metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer patients who have failed docetaxel-based chemotherapy. METHODS In this double-blind, phase 3 study from China, 214 patients were randomized (2:1) to abiraterone acetate 1000 mg once daily plus prednisone 5 mg twice daily and placebo plus prednisone 5 mg twice daily in 28-day treatment cycles. RESULTS Abiraterone acetate-prednisone treatment significantly decreased prostate-specific antigen progression risk by 49%, with longer median time to prostate-specific antigen progression of 5.55 months versus 2.76 months in the placebo-prednisone group (hazard ratio 0.506, P = 0.0001, primary end-point). There was a strong trend for improved overall survival in the abiraterone acetate-prednisone group, with a 40% decrease in the risk of death (hazard ratio 0.604, P = 0.0597); however, median survival was not reached in either group because of the short follow-up period (12.9 months) and limited number of observed death events. The prostate-specific antigen response rate was higher in the abiraterone-prednisone group (49.7%) than in the placebo-prednisone group (14.1%). A total of 37.1% patients in this group had pain progression events compared with 50.7% in the placebo-prednisone group. Abiraterone-prednisone significantly decreased the risk of pain progression by 50% (hazard ratio 0.496, P = 0.0014). The incidence of adverse events was similar between the two groups; the most common adverse events being anemia (25.9% for abiraterone-prednisone vs 22.5% for placebo-prednisone), hypokalemia (25.9% and 11.3%), bone pain (23.8% and 21.1%), hypertension (16.1% and 12.7%) and increased aspartate aminotransferase (14.7% and 15.5%), respectively. CONCLUSIONS Abiraterone-prednisone significantly delays disease and pain progression, and prostate-specific antigen, with a favorable benefit-risk ratio in Asian metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer patients in the post-docetaxel setting.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is a newly discovered gas transmitter. It is synthesized by cystathionine β-synthase (CBS), cystathionine γ-lyase (CSE), and 3-mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase (MPST). Endogenous hydrogen sulfide has never been studied in bladder cancer. PURPOSE We evaluated H2S production and its synthases expression levels in transitional cell carcinoma (urothelial cell carcinoma of bladder [UCB]) of human bladder tissue and cell lines. MATERIALS AND METHODS Immunostaining was performed in urothelial cell lines and bladder specimens from 94 patients with UCB of different stages/grades. The expression levels/activities of CBS, CSE, and MPST of specimens and cell lines were analyzed by image semiquantity assay, western blot, and a sulfur-sensitive electrode. We tried to find the correlation between hydrogen sulfide and its synthases with tumor stage in UCB. All experiments were repeated at least 3 times. RESULTS Immunoreactivity for CBS, CSE, and MPST was detected in malignant uroepithelium and muscular layer of all tissues examined and cultured cells. The expression levels of CBS, CSE, and MPST were associated with UCB stage/grade. Muscle-invasive bladder cancer samples showed the highest production of H2S (52.6±2.91 nmol/[mg·min]) among all tested samples and EJ cells (transitional cell carcinoma, grade IIIshowed the highest production of H2S among all tested cell lines (53.3±7.02nmol/[mg·min]). CONCLUSIONS Protein levels and catalytic activities of CBS, CSE, and MPST increased with the increase of malignant degrees in human bladder tissues and human UCB cell lines. Our findings may promote the application of these novel enzymes to UCB diagnosis or treatment.

Abstract
Sorption behavior of acetochlor (ACE), dibutyl phthalate (DBP), 17α-Ethynyl estradiol (EE2) and phenanthrene (PHE) with biochars produced from three feedstocks (maize straw (MABs), pine wood dust (WDBs) and swine manure (SWBs)) at seven heat treatment temperatures (HTTs) was evaluated. The bulk polarity of these biochars declined with increasing HTT while the aromaticity and CO2-surface area (CO2-SA) rose. The surface OC contents of biochars were generally higher than bulk OC contents. The organic carbon (OC)-normalized CO2-SA (CO2-SA/OC) of biochars significantly correlated with the sorption coefficients (n and logK(oc)), suggesting that pore filling could dominate the sorption of tested sorbates. SWBs had higher logK(oc) values compared to MABs and WDBs, due to their higher ash contents. Additionally, the logK(oc) values for MABs was relatively greater than that for WDBs at low HTTs (≤400 °C), probably resulting from the higher CO2-SA/OC, ash contents and aromaticity of MABs. Surface polarity and the aliphatic C may dominate the sorption of WDBs obtained at relatively low HTTs (≤400 °C), while aromatic C affects the sorption of biochars at high HTTs. Results of this work aid to deepen our understanding of the sorption mechanisms, which is pivotal to wise utilization of biochars as sorbents for hazardous organic compounds.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To identify the incidence and clinicopathologic features of prostate cancer incidentally detected in patients undergoing transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and to estimate the clinical value of pathologic review of all TURP specimens. STUDY DESIGN A pathologic review was performed on all TURP specimens for each patient from May 1, 2004, to June 30, 2014, in our institute. A total of 1,024 men (ages 46-98) were identified by pathology specimen. Those with a known diagnosis of prostate cancer prior to TURP (n = 16) were excluded from the analysis. The tumor volume, Gleason score, pathologic stage, serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level, and follow-up data were evaluated for those who were found to have prostate cancer. RESULTS A total of 87 (8.6%) patients (ages 50-88) were found to have prostate cancer. Significant prostate cancer was found in 25 patients. From May 1, 2004, to May 31, 2009, 30 (6.1%) patients (ages 57-83) were found to have prostate cancer. From June 1, 2009, to June 30, 2014, 57 (11.0%) patients (ages 50-88) were found to have prostate cancer. CONCLUSION Our series demonstrates that 8.6% of patients were found to have prostate cancer and that the incidence was increasing in recent years. Even in some patients with T1a disease, the tumors were significant. The pathologic review of TURP specimens is valuable in China.

Abstract
A smart core-sheath nanofiber for non-adherent cell capture and release is demonstrated. The nanofibers are fabricated by single-spinneret electrospinning of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm), polycaprolactone (PCL) and nattokinase (NK) solution blends. The self-assembly of PNIPAAm and PCL blends during the electrospinning generates the core-sheath PCL/PNIPAAm nanofibers with PNIPAAm as the sheath. The PNIPAAm-based core-sheath nanofibers are switchable between hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity with temperature change and enhance stability in the blood. When the nanofibers come in contact with blood, the NK is released from the nanofibers to resist platelet adhesion on the nanofiber surface, facilitating the direct capture and isolation of red blood cells (RBCs) from the blood above phase-transition temperature of PNIPAAm. Meanwhile, the captured RBCs are readily released from the nanofibers with temperature stimuli in an undamaged manner. The release efficiency of up to 100% is obtained while maintaining cellular integrity and function. This work presents promising nanofibers to effectively capture non-adherent cells and release for subsequent molecular analysis and diagnosis of single cells.

Abstract
Background The efficacy and safety of lenalidomide plus low-dose dexamethasone (Rd) in Chinese patients with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) was demonstrated in a phase 2, multicenter trial (MM-021). MM-024 was an Extended Access Program (EAP) that allowed responding patients in the MM-021 trial to continue to receive Rd, and to provide additional safety and efficacy data with longer follow-up. Methods Chinese patients with RRMM who completed ≥1 year of Rd therapy in MM-021 and who remained progression-free under Rd entered the Treatment Phase of the MM-024 EAP, continuing Rd at the same dose and schedule. Patients in MM-021 who discontinued Rd treatment or progressed were allowed to enroll in the Safety Follow-Up Phase of the MM-024 EAP. Safety data, including the incidence of second primary malignancies (SPMs), were collected for ≥5 years from the time the last on-study patient enrolled in the MM-021 trial (primary end point). Efficacy outcomes (time to progression [TTP], progression-free survival [PFS], and overall survival [OS]) were secondary end points. Results Median follow-up was 38.4 months for the safety population (n = 80) and 43.3 months for the treatment cohort (n = 41). In the safety population, Grade 3–4 adverse events (AEs) occurred in 60.0 % of patients; the most common grade 3–4 AEs were neutropenia (20.0 %), decreased neutrophil count (13.8 %), and anemia (11.3 %). There was no evidence of cumulative toxicity, and no patients discontinued Rd due to AEs; 2 patients had SPMs. In the treatment cohort, median duration of response was 35.1 months, median TTP was 36.9 months, and median PFS was 36.0 months; median OS was not reached due to the low number of deaths (n = 5). Conclusion Long-term treatment with Rd has a predictable and manageable safety profile and provides sustained efficacy in Chinese patients with RRMM. Abstract
Static matrix inverse solving has been studied for many years. In this paper, we aim at solving a dynamic complex-valued matrix inverse. Specifically, based on the artful combination of a conventional gradient neural network and the recently-proposed Zhang neural network, a novel complex-valued neural network model is presented and investigated for computing the dynamic complex-valued matrix inverse in real time. A hardware implementation structure is also offered. Moreover, both theoretical analysis and simulation results substantiate the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed recurrent neural network model for dynamic complex-valued matrix inversion.

Abstract
The importance of the composition of soil organic matter (SOM) for carbon (C) cycling is still under debate. Here a single soil source was used to examine the specific influence of its composition on stability ((14)C activity) of SOM fractions while constraining other influential C turnover factors such as mineral, climate and plant input. The following SOM fractions were isolated from two soil samples: four humic acids, two humins, non-hydrolyzable carbon, and the demineralized fraction. We examined the isotope ratios of SOM fractions in relation to composition (such as aliphatic and aromatic C content) using solid state (13)C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and thermal analysis. The Δ(14)C values of the fractions isolated from both an albic soil (SOMs-A) and a black soil (SOMs-B) correlated negatively with their peak temperature of decomposition and the temperature where half of the total heat of reaction was evolved, implying a potential link between thermal and biogeochemical stability of SOM fractions. Aryl C contents of SOMs-A determined using (13)C NMR varied inversely with δ(15)N values and directly with δ(13)C values, suggesting that part of aryl C of SOMs-A might be fire-derived. The Δ(14)C values of SOMs-A correlated positively with aliphatic C content and negatively with aromatic C content. We therefore concluded that fire-derived aromatic C in SOMs-A appeared to be more stable than microbially-derived aliphatic C. The greater decomposition of SOMs-B fractions weakened the relationship of their Δ(14)C values with alkyl and aryl C contents. Hence, the role of the composition of SOM fractions in regulating stability might be dependent on the source of specific C forms and their stage of decomposition.

Abstract
328 Background: Prostate cancer (PC) is the second most frequently diagnosed malignancy in males worldwide, and stands in 7th place among malignancies in Chinese males. This study investigated the real-world treatment patterns of docetaxel as chemotherapy in patients with advanced PC in China. Methods: This was a multi-center, prospective, observational, non-interventional, product registry study. All patients with advanced PC who failed with previous endocrine therapies, were receiving docetaxel containing chemotherapy, and consented to participate in the study were eligible to be enrolled. Patients were followed-up 2 years, for the collection and analysis of data on docetaxel treatment mode, prostate specific antigen (PSA) remission rate, survival time, etc. Results: A total of 407 patients were enrolled from Aug 2011 through Jun 2014, with a mean Gleason score of 8.0 (SD: 1.11), and median PSA of 61.0 (range: 0.0 to 5000.0) ng/ml. 302 (74.2%) patients were classified as clinical stage IV. For Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) score, 145 (35.6%), 205 (50.4%), 48 (11.8%), patients had scores of 0, 1, 2, respectively. Metastasis to bone was present in 340 (83.5%) patients; metastasis to other organs (liver, lungs, adrenal glands, brain, etc.) was present in 57 (14.0%) patients. Last disease progression prior to enrolment was evidenced by tumor progression in 132 (32.4%) patients and by PSA elevation in 379 (93.1%) patients. 173 (43.0%) and 120 (29.9%) patients started docetaxel therapy after failure of the first line and second line endocrine therapies, respectively; 51 (12.7%) patients after failure of the third line or more endocrine therapies. Conclusions: This abstract presented characteristics of Chinese patients with advanced PC revealed by a Chinese PC study, which indicated Chinese patients were in later stage and higher risk compared with their western counterparts. The majority of patients started docetaxel therapy after failure of first line and second line endocrine therapies. PSA elevation and tumor progression were the 2 main causes that Urologists determined for disease progression. Clinical trial information: no registration number.

Abstract
Overexpression of HOXA/MEIS1/PBX3 homeobox genes is the hallmark of mixed lineage leukemia (MLL)-rearranged acute myeloid leukemia (AML). HOXA9 and MEIS1 are considered to be the most critical targets of MLL fusions and their coexpression rapidly induces AML. MEIS1 and PBX3 are not individually able to transform cells and were therefore hypothesized to function as cofactors of HOXA9. However, in this study, we demonstrate that coexpression of PBX3 and MEIS1 (PBX3/MEIS1), without ectopic expression of a HOX gene, is sufficient for transformation of normal mouse hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells in vitro. Moreover, PBX3/MEIS1 overexpression also caused AML in vivo, with a leukemic latency similar to that caused by forced expression of MLL-AF9, the most common form of MLL fusions. Furthermore, gene expression profiling of hematopoietic cells demonstrated that PBX3/MEIS1 overexpression, but not HOXA9/MEIS1, HOXA9/PBX3, or HOXA9 overexpression, recapitulated the MLL-fusion-mediated core transcriptome, particularly upregulation of the endogenous Hoxa genes. Disruption of the binding between MEIS1 and PBX3 diminished PBX3/MEIS1-mediated cell transformation and HOX gene upregulation. Collectively, our studies strongly implicate the PBX3/MEIS1 interaction as a driver of cell transformation and leukemogenesis, and suggest that this axis may play a critical role in the regulation of the core transcriptional programs activated in MLL-rearranged and HOX-overexpressing AML. Therefore, targeting the MEIS1/PBX3 interaction may represent a promising therapeutic strategy to treat these AML subtypes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Homoharringtonine (HHT) is a natural alkaloid isolated from various Cephalotaxus species. HHT has been used to treat acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML), chronic lymphocyte leukaemia and myelodysplastic syndromes. Although HHT inhibits protein synthesis and promotes apoptosis of leukaemia cells in preclinical studies, its molecular target proteins remain unknown. The aim of this study was to identify target proteins of HHT. EXPERIMENTAL APPROACH We have synthesized a biotinylated affinity column and used it to identify targets of HHT and confirmed the results by MS and Western blots. We also examined the effects of HHT on the target protein and determined roles of the target protein in anti-leukaemia activities of HHT through Western blots, flow cytometry and retrovirus transfection. KEY RESULTS Myosin-9, a member of the myosin super-family, was identified as a direct interactor of HHT. Furthermore, HHT up-regulated the expression level of myosin-9 in both AML and CML cell lines in a time-dependent manner. Thus, HHT-induced apoptosis of leukaemia cells begins in 6 h and continues to increase for 24 h. There is a positive correlation between up-regulated myosin-9 expression level and increased percentage of apoptotic cells mediated by HHT. Overexpression of myosin-9 could increase the sensitivity of the leukaemia cells to the cytotoxicity of HHT and arrest cells in S and G2/M phases. CONCLUSIONS AND IMPLICATIONS Our results indicated that myosin-9 was the target protein of HHT and played an important role in the HHT-induced apoptosis of leukaemia cells.

Abstract
Invasive fungal infection (IFI) remains as a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML). Here, we report the subgroup analysis of China Assessment of Antifungal Therapy in Haematological Disease (CAESAR) study to evaluate the risk of IFI in patients with AML in 1st remission receiving high-dose cytarabine (HiDAC) as consolidation. A total of 638 patients with AML in 1st complete remission were selected from the database. Among them, 130 patients received HiDAC alone with total dose of 2-3 g/m(2) × 6 while 508 patients received multiple-agent combination chemotherapy (multiagent chemo group). The patients' characteristics were generally not different but more patients in HiDAC group had peripherally inserted central catheter (61.5% vs 44.5%, P = 0.002). The median duration of neutropenia was 8.0 days in both HiDAC (2-20) and multiagent chemo group (2-28). Number of patients with prolonged neutropenia (>14 days) tended to be more in multiagent chemo group but not significant different (16.3% vs 8.8%, respectively). There was no significant difference between 2 groups in persistent neutropenic fever (40.8% vs 33.1%), antifungal treatment (11.5% vs 11.4%), and incidence of proven/probable IFI (4 probable in HiDAC vs 1 proven/4 probable in multiagent chemo, P = 0.35) or possible IFI. As to the clinical outcome in terms of duration of hospitalization and death in remission, there was a trend of shorter duration of hospitalization in HiDAC (19 days, 3-70) compare to multiagent chemo group (21 days, 1-367, P = 0.057) while no death documented in HiDAC group and only 2 patients died in the multiagent chemo group (0.4%). As to risk factors associated with IFI in all 638 patients, there was a trend of more IFI in patients with severe neutropenia (3.0%, P = 0.089) and previous history of IFI (3.85%, P = 0.086) while the antifungal prophylaxis was not associated significantly reduced IFI. Overall, our data support the perception that HiDAC alone as consolidation in first remission AML patients was well tolerated and not associated with increased hematological toxicity and IFI than conventional combination chemotherapy. Antifungal prophylaxis may not necessary except for patients with previous history of IFI.

Abstract
RIG-G (retinoic acid-induced gene G) was originally identified in ATRA (all-trans retinoic acid)-treated NB4 acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) cells. It was induced to expression by ATRA along with the differentiation of the cells. However, little is known about its role(s). Here, we established a RIG-G stably expression transformant of NB4 cells. By using the transformant, we showed that expression of RIG-G in NB4 cells not only arrested the cells at G1/G0 transition phase and inhibited their proliferation, but also markedly drive the maturation of NB4 cells in the presence of very low concentration of ATRA (10(-9)mol/L). What's more, by detecting the expression of RIG-G in fresh primary bone marrow mononuclear cells of APL patients in different morbid states, we found high RIG-G expression level in complete remission patients, while low level in untreated or relapsed patients. These results indicated that RIG-G level was high in maturated cells and low in blast cells, and suggested that RIG-G might play a role in the differentiation of bone marrow hemocytes in vivo.

Abstract
Previous studies suggest that early growth response gene-1 (Egr-1) plays an important role in hypoxia-induced drug-resistance. However, the mechanism still remains to be clarified. Herein, we investigated the role of Egr-1 in hypoxia-induced autophagy and its resulted hypoxia-driven chemo-resistance in Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) cells. Our data demonstrated that Egr-1 was overexpressed in HCC tissues and cells and conferred them drug resistance under hypoxia. Mechanistically, Egr-1 transcriptionally regulated hypoxia-induced autophagy by binding to LC3 promoter in HCC cells, which resulted in resistance of HCC cells to chemotherapeutic agents; while dominant negative Egr-1 could inhibit autophagy level, and thus enhanced the sensitivity of HCC cells to chemotherapeutic agents, indicating that hypoxia-induced Egr-1 expression enhanced drug resistance of HCC cells likely through autophagy. Accordingly, it is suggested that a mechanism of hypoxia/Egr-1/autophagy axis might be involved in drug resistance in HCC.

Abstract
Background Preoperative albumin-globulin ratio (AGR) reflects both malnutrition and systemic inflammation in cancer patients. In particular, systemic inflammation has been reported to contribute to tumor progression and poor oncological outcome in various malignancies. However, the prognostic value of preoperative AGR in upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) has not been examined. Methods We retrospectively reviewed medical data of 187 operable UTUC patients in a Chinese cohort with a high incidence of chronic kidney disease (CKD). AGR was calculated as [AGR = albumin/(serum total protein—albumin)]. The associations of preoperative AGR with clinicopathologic characteristics and prognosis were assessed. Multivariate analyses using Cox regression models were performed to determine the independent prognostic factors. Results The median (IQR) preoperative AGR was 1.50 (1.30–1.70), and the optimal cutoff value was determined to be 1.45 according to the receiver operating curve analysis. Low AGR was significantly associated with female gender, high CKD stage and tumor grade (P < 0.05). Eighty-three patients died before the follow-up endpoint. Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that an AGR < 1.45 predicted significantly poorer overall and cancer-specific survivals compared to an AGR ≥ 1.45 (P < 0.001 and P = 0.008, respectively). Multivariate analyses showed that an AGR < 1.45 was an independent risk factor for poorer overall and cancer-specific survivals (P = 0.002 and P = 0.015, respectively). Conclusions Preoperative AGR can act as an effective biomarker with easy accessibility for evaluating the prognosis of patients with UTUC. AGR should be applied in UTUC patients for risk stratification and determination of optimal therapeutic regimens.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess the association of inflammatory bowel disease with polymorphisms and haplotypes of Fucosyltransferase 3 (FUT3) gene. METHODS A total of 389 patients with ulcerative colitis (UC), 274 patients with Crohn's disease (CD), and 492 controls were collected. Three single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the FUT3 gene (rs28362459, rs3745635 and rs3894326) were determined by direct sequencing. Linkage disequilibrium and haplotype analysis were performed using a Haploview 4.2 software. RESULTS Compared with the controls, the allele and genotype distributions of FUT3 gene did not significantly differ between the UC and CD groups (all P>0.05). By stratified analysis, the mutant allele (A) and genotype (GA+AA) of the FUT3 gene (rs3745635) were significantly increased in the UC group with distal colitis compared with the controls (P<0.01, P<0.05, respectively). The mutant allele (G) and genotype (TG+GG) of the FUT3 gene (rs28362459) as well as the mutant allele (A) of FUT3(rs3745635) were significantly increased in patients with ileocolonic CD and ileal CD as compared with the controls (P<0.05, P<0.01, P<0.05, respectively). The frequency of mutant allele (G) of FUT3(rs28362459) was higher in stricturing CD patients than in the controls (P<0.05). In addition, the three polymorphic loci of FUT3 gene were shown in complete linkage disequilibrium [rs3894326/rs3745635 (D'=1.0, r2=0.017), rs3894326/rs28362459 (D'=0.937, r2=0.311), rs3745635/rs28362459 (D'=0.944, r2=0.448)]. However, the frequency of each haplotype was not significantly different between the UC and CD groups compared with the controls (all P>0.05). CONCLUSION FUT3 (rs3745635) mutation may increase the risk of distal colitis. FUT3 (rs28362459 and rs3745635) mutations may engender the increased risk of ileocolonic and ileal CD. Moreover, FUT3 (rs28362459) polymorphism may influence the incidence of stricturing CD.
