Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Although immunochemotherapy had been reported to be effective initial treatment for patients with Epstein Barr virus-associated hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (EBV-HLH), and stem cell transplantation (SCT) was employed for patients with refractory disease, the long-term outcome of these patients underwent such treatment remained uncertain. The main purpose of this study was to make a primary system review on the outcome of EBV-HLH patients treated with immunochemotherapy and/or SCT. MATERIAL AND METHODS A system review and meta analysis was conducted on studies which collected from published PubMed and China Knowledge Resource Integrated Database (CNKI). The analysis was based on clinical characteristics and follow-up. Search strategy and selection criteria were identified by relevant articles, the period was defined from January 1990 to October 2010. Search terms included all relevant terms. English and Chinese language papers were reviewed. RESULTS A total of 11 articles include 342 EBV-HLH patients that were identified with our search terms fulfilled the eligibility criteria. Overall 104/342 patients (30.4%) died at the end of respective study. In 288 patients who did not receive SCT, 93/288 patients (32.3%) patients died. While in 54 patients who underwent SCT, 11/54 patients (20.4%) died at the end of respective study. Four articles had the contents both of immunochemotherapy and SCT. When using a meta analysis compared the mortality between immunochemotherapy and SCT groups, there was no statistical significance could be found, the Odds Ratio is 1.10 (0.43-2.84), (p = 0.84). When compared the mortality between SCT group and total EBV-HLH patients, there was still no statistical significance could be found, the Odds Ratio is 0.99 (0.39-2.53), (p = 0.98). CONCLUSION Etoposide-containing immunochemotherapy and SCT both decreased the mortality in EBV-HLH patients in the past decade. There was not enough evidence to suggest that SCT is better than immunochemotherapy in children with EBV-HLH. And such result may justify further research.

Abstract
CyclinD1/pRb/ppRb is one of the most important pathways regulating the cell cycle, and related with the development of many cancers. However, the co-alteration of CyclinD1/pRb/ppRb in esophageal squamous cell carcinomas is less understood. This study aims to analyze the combined prognostic significance of cyclinD1 (CCND1) DNA amplification and the co-alteration of CCND1/pRb/ppRB in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. CCND1 DNA amplification and the protein expression of CCND1, pRb, and ppRb on 100 tumor specimens and 11 normal tissues were detected using real-time quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemistry, respectively. Their prognosis significance was analyzed by Kaplan-Meier method. We found that 41% of the patients had CCND1 DNA amplification, which had a short survival time compared with the patients without CCND1 amplification (25.63 months vs. not reached, P=0.007). The patients with the co-alternation of CCND1(+) /pRb(-) /ppRb(+) protein expression levels have a poorer overall survival than the others (11.4 vs. 43.4 months, P=0.001). Cox regression analysis showed that the co-alternation of CCND1/pRb/ppRb and CyclinD1 amplification were the two most independent prognosis factors of patients with esophageal cancer. These findings suggested that CCND1 amplification and co-alternation of CCND1(+) /pRb(-) /ppRb(+) may play a crucial role in the prognostic evaluation of patients with esophageal cancer, and the patients with CCND1(+) /pRb(-) /ppRb(+) have the worst prognosis in all the patients. The results also indicated that the patients with CCND1 amplification or co-alternation of CyclinD1(+) /pRb(-) /ppRb(+) might be the preponderant people for therapy targeting the CCND1/pRb/ppRb pathway in the future.

Abstract
PURPOSE To elucidate the safety and efficacy of exogenous erythropoietin (EPO) for the protection of photoreceptor cells in a rat model of retinal detachment (RD). METHODS Recombinant rat EPO (400 ng) was injected into the vitreous cavity of normal rats to observe the eye manifestations. Retinal function was assessed by flash electroretinograms. Histopathological examination of retinal tissue was performed at 14 days and 2 months after injection, respectively. To investigate the inhibitory effect of EPO on photoreceptor cell apoptosis in RD rats, 100, 200, or 400 ng EPO was injected into the vitreous cavity immediately after RD model establishment. Apoptosis of photoreceptor cells was determined at 3 days after injection. Caspase-3 activation was measured by western blot analysis and immunofluorescence, respectively, and the level of Bcl-X(L) expression was analyzed by western blot. RESULTS Intravitreal injection of EPO 400 ng into normal rats had no significant impact on retinal function, morphology, or structure. Apoptosis of retinal photoreceptor cells apparently increased after RD and was significantly reduced following EPO treatment. The thickness of the outer nuclear layer in the RD + 400 ng group was significantly thicker than that in other experimental RD groups both at 14 days and at 2 months after RD (P < 0.05). Western blot and immunofluorescence analyses showed decreased caspase-3 activation and increased Bcl-X(L) expression following EPO treatment. CONCLUSION Intravitreal injection of EPO 400 ng is safe, and EPO may suppress caspase-3 activation and enhance Bcl-X(L) expression, resulting in inhibition of apoptosis and protection of photoreceptor cells.

Abstract
Synaptonemal complex protein 3 (SYCP3) is a DNA-binding protein located on the lateral elements of the synaptonemal complex. This protein plays an important role in homologous chromosome pairing and is necessary for male meiosis of spermatogenesis. To further understand the SYCP3 gene function and its relationship to cattle-yak male sterility, we investigated the characteristics of the bovine SYCP3 (bSYCP3) gene as well as its transcription level and epigenetic modification status. The bSYCP3 gene encodes a 225-amino acid protein with the Cor1 motif and two coiled-coil-forming regions, homologous with other mammals (59-77% identity overall). Real-time PCR analysis indicated that the expression level of bSYCP3 mRNA in yak testes was significantly higher than that in cattle-yak (p < 0.05). The methylation level of the bSYCP3 promoter (mainly 7th, 13th and 17th CpG sites) in cattle-yaks (40%) was significantly higher than that in yaks (0%) (p < 0.05). This suggests that bSYCP3 plays an important role in meiosis of bovine spermatogenesis; further, interspecific hybridization between yak and cattle might influence bSYCP3 gene expression in cattle-yak testes, which might be influenced by bSYCP3 gene promoter methylation.

Abstract
Percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) has been widely used for the treatment of painful malignant lesions of the spine. Spinal metastasis with epidural involvement, with or without symptoms of neurologic compression, is regarded by some authors as a contraindication or relative contraindication to the procedure. To evaluate safety and effectiveness of PVP in pain management of spinal metastasis with epidural involvement, we retrospectively analyzed PVP in 32 patients with metastatic disease, who presented with at least one vertebral lesion with destruction of the posterior vertebral body wall or epidural extension of tumor. Among these patients, nine had signs of spinal cord or cauda equina compression. Procedural safety was evaluated by any post-procedure adverse events. The PVP analgesic efficacy was evaluated by follow-up neurological examination. Pain intensity was scored on a visual analog scale scored from 0 (no pain) to 10 (maximum pain intensity). The effective pain relief was defined as at least 50% improvement in pain score as compared with pre- procedure baseline. Follow-up assessments were performed at 1 day; 1 week; 1, 3, and 6 months after the procedure. Fifty-three vertebrae in 32 patients were treated in this group. Analgesic efficacy in survival patients was rated at 97% (31/32) at 1day and 1 week, 86.7% (26/30) at 1 month, 82.3% (24/29) at 3 months, and 76.9% (20/26) at 6 months after procedure. Leakage of PMMA was detected in 64% (33/53) treated vertebrae. No systemic complications were observed in all treated patients.

Abstract
Mechanical loading induces positive changes in the skeleton due to direct effects on bone cells, which may include regulation of transcription factors that support osteoblast differentiation and function. Flow effects on osteoblast transcription factors have generally been evaluated after short exposures. In this work, we assayed flow effects on osteogenic genes at early and late time points in a preosteoblast (CIMC-4) cell line and evaluated both steady and oscillatory flows. Four hours of steady unidirectional flow decreased the level of RANKL mRNA 53 ± 7% below that of nonflowed cells, but increases in Runx2 and osterix mRNA (44 ± 22% and 129 ± 12%, respectively) were significant only after 12-19 h of continuous flow. Late flow effects on RANKL and osterix were also induced by an intermittent flow-rest protocol (four cycles of 1 h on/1 h off + overnight rest). Four hours of oscillatory flow decreased RANKL mRNA at this early time point (63 ± 2%) but did not alter either osterix or Runx2. When oscillatory flow was delivered using the intermittent flow-rest protocol, Runx2 and osterix mRNA increased significantly (85 ± 19% and 161 ± 22%, respectively). Both β-catenin and ERK1/2, known to be involved in RANKL regulation, were rapidly activated by steady flow. Inhibition of flow-activated ERK1/2 prevented the increase in osterix mRNA but not Runx2; Runx2 phosphorylation was increased by flow, an effect which likely contributes to osterix induction. This work shows that both steady and oscillatory fluid flows can support enhancement of an osteogenic phenotype.

Abstract
The objective of this study was to examine the spatial genetic relationships of the Lake Qinghai scaleless carp Gymnocypris przewalskii within the Lake Qinghai system, determining whether genetic evidence supports the current taxonomy of Gymnocypris przewalskii przewalskii and Gymnocypris przewalskii ganzihonensis and whether Gymnocypris przewalskii przewalskii are returning to their natal rivers to spawn. Comparison of mitochondrial (control region) variation (42 haplotypes in 203 fish) of G. przewalskii with the postulated ancestral species found in the Yellow River, Gymnocypris eckloni (10 haplotypes in 23 fish), indicated no haplotype sharing, but incomplete lineage sorting. Consistent with the sub-species status, an AMOVA indicated that the Ganzi River population was significantly different from all other river populations (F(ST) = 0·1671, P < 0·001). No genetic structure was found among the other rivers in the Lake Qinghai catchment. An AMOVA of amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) loci, however, revealed significant genetic differences between most spawning populations (F(ST) = 0·0721, P < 0·001). Both mitochondrial and AFLP data found significant differences among G. p. przewalskii, G. p. ganzihonensis and G. eckloni (F(ST) values of 0·1959 and 0·1431, respectively, P < 0·001). Consistent with the incomplete lineage sorting, Structure analysis of AFLP loci showed evidence of five clusters. One cluster is shared among all sample locations, one is unique to G. p. ganzihonensis and G. eckloni, and the others are mostly found in G. p. przewalskii. Genetic evidence therefore supports the current taxonomy, including the sub-species status of G. p. ganzihonensis, and is consistent with natal homing of most Lake Qinghai populations. These findings have significant implications for the conservation and management of this unique and threatened species. The evidence suggests that G. p. przewalskii should be treated as a single population for conservation purposes. Exchangeability of the populations, however, should not be used to promote homogenization of fish spawning in the different rivers. As some degree of genetic divergence was detected in this study, it is recommended that the spawning groups be treated as separate management units.

Abstract
Previous studies have identified the hdrRM operon as a novel regulatory system induced by conditions of high cell density. Little is known about the genes under the control of this system, but a variety of important phenotypes are associated with either hdrR overexpression or mutation of hdrM. To characterize the regulatory function of the HdrRM system in Streptococcus mutans we used a microarray approach to compare the transcriptional profiles of an hdrR overexpression strain with an hdrM mutant. Both strains exhibited almost identical profiles, which included all of the known late competence genes as well as a variety of competence-induced bacteriocins. Through a combination of real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (PCR), reporter gene analysis and random amplification of complementary DNA ends PCR, we confirmed the role of comX as a central intermediate regulator of numerous genes in the hdrRM regulon. Through these studies, we also identified novel comX-regulated genes required for natural competence. Taken together, our results suggest that the primary function of the HdrRM system is to regulate the late competence genes together with various bacteriocins. This occurs independently of the ComCDE system, even though both systems regulate nearly identical genes. This suggests that S. mutans has multiple parallel input sensory systems that control the same output response: the induction of natural competence and concurrent production of bacteriocins.

Abstract
Clusterin (CLU) is expressed in a wide variety of human tissues and fluids. Overexpression of cytoplasmic clusterin (sCLU) has been implicated in cancer development and progression. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the association of sCLU overexpression with clinicopathological features of human gastric carcinomas (GC).We constructed a gastric cancer tissue microarray containing 173 primary gastric carcinomas and 70 paired non-neoplastic mucosa specimens. The expression of sCLU was studied by immunohistochemistry. The correlations between sCLU expression and clinicopathological features, p53 abnormality, as well as Ki67 activation were analyzed. Overexpressions of sCLU was detected in 28.5% (n=165) of primary GCs by immunohistochemical staining, but not in non-neoplastic mucosa. Clinical association study found that overexpression of sCLU was significantly correlated with lymph-node metastasis (p < 0.001), tumor invasion (p < 0.001) and TNM stage (p < 0.001). In Kaplan-Meier survival analysis, overexpression of sCLU was significantly correlated with unfavorable survival in advanced GCs (p < 0.03). Furthermore, the association of sCLU with abnormal expression of p53 was ascertained. These results suggested that overexpression of sCLU was involved in the progression of GC and it's oncogenic function might be associated with p53 abnormality. Overexpression of sCLU seems to be related with patient's shorter survival in late stage GC.

Abstract
Genomic full-length sequences of human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-Cw*0103 and *0108 were identified by cloning and sequencing from two Chinese donors. All introns, exons 4-8, 5'-promoter, and 3'-UTR were found to be identical between these two alleles.

Abstract
Abstract
Development of cancer gene therapy has been hampered by the fact that there are no effective cancer-specific expression vectors available, which is critical for improving therapeutic efficacy and reducing toxicity in clinics. To overcome this problem, we recently developed a safe and effective strategy fro targeting a potent pro-apoptotic gene (BikDD) to the pancreatic tumors (Xie et al. Cancer Cell, 2007). A VISA system (VP16-Gal4-WPRE integrated systemic amplifier) was engineered by using the two-step transcriptional amplification (TSTA) system and the posttranscriptional regulatory element of the woodchuck hepatitis virus (WPRE). The VISA system can boost the activity of cancer-specific promoters by an average of 600 folds compared to their basal levels. C-VISA (CCKAR-VISA) nanoparticles transcriptionally targets transgene expression effectively to pancreatic tumors in vivo. C-VISA-BikDD nanoparticles was shown to be highly effective in reducing tumor burden and increasing animal survival rate in orthotopic pancreatic cancer models which is moving into clinical trials at University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, USA. In the current study, we identified hTERT(human telomerase reverse transcriptase), ß-cateinin, claudin-4, and FASN (fatty acid synthase) promoters as breast cancer-selective promoters, and amplified their activity to hundreds of folds greater by the “VISA” system without loss of their specificity. We further demonstrated significant antitumor activity of targeted BikDD expression driven by nanoparticles of the hTERT-VISA-BikDD vectors in Her-2-negative and -positive breast cancer cell lines and in multiple breast cancer models of living imaging by the Xenogen IVIS imaging system with limited toxicity. In addition, treatment with hTERT-VISA-BikDD nanoparticles plus lapatinib or produces evident combinational therapeutic efficacy, which is likely due to the ability of lapatinib to promote apoptosis of Her-2-overexpressing breast cancer cells. Thus, our newly developed hTERT-VISA-BikDD nanoparticles are an innovative strategy for targeted antitumor effects of both Her-2-negative and Her-2-positive breast cancer.

Abstract
The project devised a simple but novel methodology for identifying possible future trends in infectious diseases in animals and humans in China, of priority concern to the Chinese authorities. It used a model of disease drivers (social, economic, biological or environmental factors that affect disease outcomes, by changing the behaviour of diseases, sources or pathways) devised for the Foresight Programme in the United Kingdom. Nine families of drivers were adapted to Chinese circumstances and matrices were constructed to identify the likely relationship of single infectious diseases or families of diseases to the drivers. The likely future trends in those drivers in China were determined by interviews with 36 independent Chinese experts. These trends included not only potentially adverse animal and human movements but also opportunities for innovative surveillance methods, more use of hospitals, antimicrobials and vaccines. Some human behaviours and social trends were expected to increase the risk of infections (in particular sexually transmitted and healthcare-associated infections) while at the same time the experts thought the awareness of risk in the Chinese population would increase. The results suggested a number of areas where the Chinese authorities may experience difficulties in the future, such as rising numbers of healthcare-associated infections, zoonoses and other emerging diseases and sexually transmitted infections (including HIV). Not making firm predictions, this work identifies priority disease groups requiring surveillance and consideration of countermeasures as well as recommending strengthening basic surveillance and response mechanisms for unanticipatable zoonoses and other emerging disease threats.

Abstract
Tooth enamel is the hardest tissue in the human body and is directly responsible for dental function. Due to its non-regenerative nature, enamel is unable to heal and repair itself biologically after damage. We hypothesized that with its unique microstructure, enamel possesses excellent resistance to contact-induced damage, regardless of loading direction. By combining instrumented indentation tests with microstructural analysis, we report that enamel can absorb indentation energy through shear deformation within its protein layers between apatite crystallites. Moreover, a near-isotropic inelastic response was observed when we analyzed indentation data in directions either perpendicular or parallel to the path of enamel prisms. An “effective” crystal orientation angle, 33°–34°, was derived for enamel microstructure, independent of the loading direction. These findings will help guide the design of the nanostructural architecture of dental restorative materials.

Abstract
To induce Her2-specific cell immune response, we used xenogeneic antigen rat neu L2-S2 domains as the vaccine antigen. The antigenic protein was engineered as a chimeric protein with human IgG1 Fc region (neu-Fc). Neu-Fc could stimulate the cell proliferation in mixed lymphocyte reaction effectively. Simultaneous neu-Fc and IFN-gamma stimulation dramatically elevated IL-12 secretion and reduced IL-10 production in PBMC. To further augment the activating effects on Th1-type response, Bacille Calmette-Guerin (BCG) was utilized as a non-specific stimulus. Neu-Fc, IFN-gamma and BCG costimulation exhibited the most conspicuous effects on the reversal of the Th1-type inhibitory effects by MCF-7 cell supernatant compared with neu-Fc alone or IFN-gamma and BCG costimulation. The lytic activity of effector cells to Her2 overexpressing cells was greatly promoted by neu-Fc, IFN-gamma and BCG stimulation simultaneously. Neu-Fc led to considerable retardation in EMT6/Her2 tumour growth in Balb/c mice. IFN-gamma and BCG efficiently enhanced the antitumour activity. A large amount of inflammatory cells were found to be accumulated in the tumour tissues or surrounded tumours in mice treated with neu-Fc, IFN-gamma and BCG but no inflammatory cell infiltration was observed in control tumours, indicating that the strategy is potent enough to support the initiation and propagation of tumour-specific immune response in an established tumour and generate a proinflammatory environment.

Abstract
Ca2+ is the most ubiquitous second messenger found in all cells. Alterations in [Ca2+]i contribute to a wide variety of cellular responses including neurotransmitter release, muscle contraction, synaptogenesis and gene expression. Voltage-dependent Ca2+ channels, found in all excitable cells (Hille 1992), mediate the entry of Ca2+ into cells following depolarization. Ca2+ channels are composed of a large pore-forming subunit, called the alpha1 subunit, and several accessory subunits. Ten different alpha1 subunit genes have been identified and classified into three families, Ca(v1-3) (Dunlap et al. 1995, Catterall 2000). Each alpha1 gene produces a unique Ca2+ channel. Although chromaffin cells express several different types of Ca2+ channels, this review will focus on the Cav(2.1) and Cav(2.2) channels, also known as P/Q- and N-type respectively (Nowycky et al. 1985, Llinas et al. 1989b, Wheeler et al. 1994). These channels exhibit physiological and pharmacological properties similar to their neuronal counterparts. N-, P/Q and to a lesser extent R-type Ca2+ channels are known to regulate neurotransmitter release (Hirning et al. 1988, Horne & Kemp 1991, Uchitel et al. 1992, Luebke et al. 1993, Takahashi & Momiyama 1993, Turner et al. 1993, Regehr & Mintz 1994, Wheeler et al. 1994, Wu & Saggau 1994, Waterman 1996, Wright & Angus 1996, Reid et al. 1997). N- and P/Q-type Ca2+ channels are abundant in nerve terminals where they colocalize with synaptic vesicles. Similarly, these channels play a role in neurotransmitter release in chromaffin cells (Garcia et al. 2006). N- and P/Q-type channels are subject to many forms of regulation (Ikeda & Dunlap 1999). This review pays particular attention to the regulation of N- and P/Q-type channels by heterotrimeric G-proteins, interaction with SNARE proteins, and channel inactivation in the context of stimulus-secretion coupling in adrenal chromaffin cells.

Abstract
Internal tandem duplications (ITDs) of fms-like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3) receptor play an important role in the pathogenesis of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and represent an attractive therapeutic target. ABT-869 has demonstrated potent effects in AML cells with FLT3-ITDs. Here, we provide further evidence that ABT-869 treatment significantly downregulates cyclins D and E but increases the expression of p21 and p27. ABT-869 induces apoptosis through downregulation of Bcl-xL and upregulation of BAK, BID and BAD. We also evaluate the combinations of ABT-869 and chemotherapy. ABT-869 demonstrates significant sequence-dependent synergism with cytarabine and doxorubicin in cell lines and primary leukemia samples. The optimal combination was validated in MV4-11 xenografts. Low-density array analysis revealed the synergistic interaction involved in downregulation of cell cycle and mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway genes. CCND1 and c-Mos were the most significantly inhibited targets on both transcriptional and translational levels. Treatment with short hairpin RNAs targeting either CCND1 or c-Mos further sensitized MV4-11 cells to ABT-869. These findings suggest that specific pathway genes were further targeted by adding chemotherapy and support the rationale of combination therapy. Thus, a clinical trial using sequence-dependent combination therapy with ABT-869 in AML is warranted.

Abstract
Using first-principles calculations, we investigate the effect of tube size on optical properties of the zigzag, armchair, and chiral SiC nanotubes. The results indicate that the optical spectra of SiC nanotubes are dependent on the diameter and chirality, and that optical anisotropy is observed for different light polarizations. For a given chirality of SiCNTs, redshifts or blueshifts of the peaks in the dielectric function and energy loss function with increasing tube diameter are possible due to the competition between the size effect and pi orbitals overlapping, and the shifts become smaller as the tube diameter increases. The unusual optical properties of semiconducting SiC nanotubes present an opportunity for applications in electro-optical devices.

Abstract
The genetic variability of HRSV in China was studied using nucleotide sequencing of the hypervariable C-terminal region of the G protein gene and phylogenetic analysis on 80 isolates obtained from three children's hospitals over a period of three epidemic seasons, 1990/1991, 2000/2001, and 2003/2004. The results showed that 76/80 of these isolates belonged to group A and 4/80 belonged to group B. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that most of the group A isolates were genotype GA2 (74/76 isolates), and the other two isolates were GA3 and GA5. All group B isolates clustered into genotype GB3. There was substantial variation among the GA2 isolates, with nucleotide sequence and amino acid homologies ranging from 88.1-100% and 78.4-100%, respectively, in the hypervariable C-terminal region of the G protein gene. One group B virus, HRSV/Beijing/B/04/11, contained a 60-nucleotide duplication in the C-terminal region of the G protein, which was similar to what has been reported previously for isolates in several countries. This is the first report on the genetic diversity of human respiratory syncytial virus isolated during epidemic periods from children in China. These data provided a preliminary evaluation of patterns of circulation and the genetic diversity of isolates associated with HRSV epidemics within China.

Abstract
Reduced fibrinolytic activity has been described in primary anti-phospholipid syndrome (PAPS), and may be responsible for thrombotic events. Antibodies to tissue type plasminogen activator (t-PA) or plasminogen (PLG) might contribute to the hypofibrinolytic state in autoimmune diseases, but the clinical significance of these antibodies is still unclear in recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL). The aim of this study is to evaluate the prevalence and clinical significance of anti-PLG and anti-t-PA antibodies in 87 patients with a history of RPL: 54 women with well-defined PAPS (mean age 32.5 years; range 26-38) and 33 women with unexplained RPL (mean age 30 years; range 24-39). IgG anti-PLG antibodies were found in 20 and four patients from the group with RPL/PAPS and unexplained RPL, respectively; IgG anti-t-PA antibodies were found in 11 and two patients from the above two groups, respectively. IgG anti-PLG antibodies were associated with the high risk of RPL (OR 7.2, P = 0.004), especially with RPL/PAPS (OR 11.2, P < 0.001) evaluated by Fisher's exact test, while IgG anti-t-PA were associated with RPL/PAPS (OR 10.0, P = 0.01) but not with RPL (OR 6.8, P = 0.06). A significant inhibition of exogenous fibrinolysis was observed by IgG fractions from patients with anti-PLG or anti-t-PA antibodies on microplates and on the human umbilical vein endothelial cells, compared with those from healthy controls. The prevalence of IgG anti-PLG antibodies was high in RPL patients, especially in RPL/PAPS, while the prevalence of IgG anti-t-PA antibodies was high in RPL/PAPS but not in RPL, and some of them might inhibit fibrinolysis in patients.

Abstract
Keratinocyte differentiation requires the sequential regulation of gene expression. We have explored the role of 1,25(OH)(2)D(3) and its receptor (VDR) in this process. VDR sequentially binds to coactivator complexes such as Vitamin D receptor interacting protein (DRIP) and steroid receptor coactivator (SRC) during differentiation. Different genes respond differently to the VDR/coactivator complexes as determined by knockdown studies. The binding of DRIP205 and SRC to VDR is ligand (i.e. 1,25(OH)(2)D(3)) dependent. LXXLL motifs in these coactivators are critical for this binding; however, the affinity for VDR of the different LXXLL motifs in these coactivators varies. Hairless is an inhibitor of 1,25(OH)(2)D(3) dependent gene transcription. A phiXXphiphi motif in hairless is crucial for hairless binding to VDR, and its binding is ligand independent. 1,25(OH)(2)D(3) displaces hairless and recruits the coactivators to VDREs. Hsp90 and p23 are chaperone proteins recruited to the DRIP/VDR complex, where they block the binding of the complex to VDREs and block 1,25(OH)(2)D(3) stimulated transcription. Thus four mechanisms explain the ability of 1,25(OH)(2)D(3) to sequentially regulate gene transcription during differentiation: changes in coregulator levels, their differential binding to VDR, differential gene responsiveness to the VDR/coregulator complexes, and chaperone proteins facilitating the cycling of VDR/coregulator complexes on and off the VDREs.

Abstract
Rabbits were narcotized and stimulated by 0.5Hz electric pulse. Potential of scalp was sampled at 3764Hz. Wave components of rabbit somatosensory evoked potential (SEP) can be located precisely through the method of continuous wavelet transform (CWT). Frequency feature of SEP can also be analyzed by CWT. The technique of continuous wavelet transform, which can project a one-dimension signal into a two-dimension time-frequency space, will become a useful method to process medical electronic signal. Abstract
Because magnitude-squared coherence function (MSCFs) could lose some phase information, based on the core theorem for the frequency domain coherence in signal processing, called as double spectral theorem, we present the two types of new magnitude coherence functions (MCFs) in order to extract the coherence between two signals and give the conditions that they are equal to 0 or +1 or -1. Here, we further study their properties sensitive to initial phases of two signals and phase difference between two signals. Studying demonstrated that the two type MCFs not only reflect frequency domain coherence of two signals, but also reflect the phase relationship between two signals. One is sensitive to the phase difference between two signals and the other is either sensitive to the initial phases or the phase difference between two signals. We call the properties as their properties sensitive to phase.

Abstract
To explore association of the spectral features of heart period signal with SNPs at 5 sites of NOS gene in the subjects (male89, female77, aged 62.40+/-2.5 yrs) by allele specific primer PCR technique. It was found that the TT allelic genotype of NOS2 C-1173T associated with the highest RPH and TT allelic genotype of NOS3 G894T associated with the highest APH in HPS spectral parameters. This suggests the SNPs of NOS2 C-1173T and NOS3 G894T may be the deep layer factors to result in the variability of HPS spectral parameters.

Abstract
Studying frequency domain representation for the coherence between two signals is an important basic theoretical problem in the fundamental theories of signal processing. However, magnitude-squared coherence function (MSCFs) could lose some phase information. Based on the core theorem in the frequency domain coherence theories, called as double spectral theorem (DST), we presented the two types of new magnitude coherence functions (MCFs), called as the same type magnitude coherence function (SMCF) and the difference magnitude coherence function (DMCF) respectively, which had been mathematically derived from DST and the conditions that they are equal to 1 or -1 or 0 were theoretically derived from DST. Here, we further demonstrated that SMCF and DMCF could be used to exactly extract the coherence between two signals by each component.
