Incisional hernia following colorectal cancer surgery according to suture technique: Hughes Abdominal Repair Randomized Trial (HART)

BACKGROUND

Incisional hernias cause morbidity and may require further surgery. HART (Hughes Abdominal Repair Trial) assessed the effect of an alternative suture method on the incidence of incisional hernia following colorectal cancer surgery.

METHODS

A pragmatic multicentre single-blind RCT allocated patients undergoing midline incision for colorectal cancer to either Hughes closure (double far-near-near-far sutures of 1 nylon suture at 2-cm intervals along the fascia combined with conventional mass closure) or the surgeon's standard closure. The primary outcome was the incidence of incisional hernia at 1 year assessed by clinical examination. An intention-to-treat analysis was performed.

RESULTS

Between August 2014 and February 2018, 802 patients were randomized to either Hughes closure (401) or the standard mass closure group (401). At 1 year after surgery, 672 patients (83.7 per cent) were included in the primary outcome analysis; 50 of 339 patients (14.8 per cent) in the Hughes group and 57 of 333 (17.1 per cent) in the standard closure group had incisional hernia (OR 0.84, 95 per cent c.i. 0.55 to 1.27; P = 0.402). At 2 years, 78 patients (28.7 per cent) in the Hughes repair group and 84 (31.8 per cent) in the standard closure group had incisional hernia (OR 0.86, 0.59 to 1.25; P = 0.429). Adverse events were similar in the two groups, apart from the rate of surgical-site infection, which was higher in the Hughes group (13.2 versus 7.7 per cent; OR 1.82, 1.14 to 2.91; P = 0.011).

CONCLUSION

The incidence of incisional hernia after colorectal cancer surgery is high. There was no statistical difference in incidence between Hughes closure and mass closure at 1 or 2 years.

Atypical clinical presentations are common in TIA and minor stroke patients with DWI-MRI confirmed ischaemia

Background and Aims

Current diagnostic criteria for TIA/minor stroke disqualify several atypical clinical presentations, but pre-date DWI-MRI use. We investigated the proportion of DWI-positive patients with atypical presentations, identifying clinical factors predicting DWI positivity.

Methods

We retrospectively reviewed consecutive patients with suspected TIA/minor stroke (NIHSS<5) undergoing MRI at our comprehensive stroke centre from March 2020-February 2021. We identified pre- dictors of DWI positivity using logistic regression.

Results

Of 1615 patients, 442 DWI-positive, 39% had atypical presentations including 20% with progres- sive symptom onset. Atypical symptoms common in DWI-positive patients included headache(17%), unsteadiness(15%), positive sensory symptoms(11%), presyncope(10%), confusion(9%) and vertigo(8%). Symptoms independently associated with DWI-positivity included weakness(OR 1.30, 95% CI 1.01-1.67), dysarthria(OR 2.06, CI 1.56-2.70), and ataxia (OR 3.75, CI 2.27-6.20). Fluctuating symptoms(22%) predicted DWI positivity(OR 1.37, CI 1.00-1.81), but sudden onset(80%) did not (OR 1.05, CI 0.80-1.38). Risk factors associated with DWI positivity included increasing age(OR 1.01/year, CI 1.01-1.02), hypertension (OR 1.70, CI 1.30-2.22), diabetes(OR 1.44, CI 1.07-1.93), and smoking(OR 1.68, CI 1.19-2.39). DWI-positive patients had significantly more risk factors (mean 2.65 vs 1.95 p=<0.001).

Conclusions

Over one-third with DWI-confirmed TIA/minor stroke present atypically. The value of atypical symptoms in excluding ischaemia, particularly in patients with vascular risk factors, appears limited.

Effects of corn distillers grains with yeast bodies and manipulation of dietary cation and anion difference on production, nutrient digestibility, and gas emissions from manure in lactating cows

In a randomized complete block design, 40 lactating Holstein cows (average 98 d in milk and 41 kg/d of milk yield) were randomly assigned to 1 of 4 diets: (1) containing soybean meal as the major protein supplement (CON diet); (2) CON diet with high-protein dried corn distillers grains at 20% on a dry matter (DM) basis by replacing mainly soybean meal (DG diet); (3) DG diet except that high-protein dried corn distillers grains with yeast bodies (extracted after corn ethanol production) was used (DGY diet); or (4) DG diet supplemented with sodium bicarbonate and potassium carbonate to elevate the dietary cation and anion difference (DCAD; DG-DCAD diet). The DCAD of CON, DG, DGY, and DG-DCAD were 185, 62, 67, and 187 mEq/kg of DM, respectively. The experiment began with a 10-d covariate period and then cows were fed the experimental diets for 5 wk (2-wk diet adaptation and 3-wk data collection periods). Dry matter intake and milk yield were measured daily, and spot urine and fecal samples were collected in the last week of the experiment to measure nutrient digestibility; N, S, and P utilization and excretion; and in vitro NH₃ and H₂S emissions from manure. All data were analyzed using the MIXED procedure of SAS (random effect: block; fixed effects: diets, repeated week, and interactions). During data collection, DM intake was not different among treatment groups, but milk yield tended to be lower (42.4 vs. 39.9 kg/d) for DG, DGY, and DG-DCAD versus CON, which could have been caused by decreases in organic matter and neutral detergent fiber digestibility. Milk protein yield tended to be lower (1.33 vs. 1.24 kg/d) for DG, DGY, and DG-DCAD versus CON. Milk fat yield was lower (1.26 vs. 1.55 kg/d) for DG and DGY versus CON, but that for DG-DCAD (1.43 kg/d) did not differ from CON. Similarly, energy-corrected milk was lower (38.0 vs. 43.3 kg/d) for cows on DG and DGY versus those on CON, but it did not differ between DG-DCAD (40.7 kg/d) and CON. Urinary and fecal N excretion were greater for DG, DGY, and DG-DCAD compared with CON due to greater dietary crude protein content and N intake. However, NH₃ emissions did not differ across treatments. Intakes of dietary P and S were greater for DG, DGY, and DG-DCAD, resulting in greater excretion of those in manure and greater H₂S emissions from manure compared with CON. These data suggest that the negative effects of feeding distillers grains on production of lactating cows can be partly explained by a decrease in nutrient digestibility (milk yield) and excessive anion load (milk fat). The milk fat response to DG-DCAD suggests that milk fat depression observed with a diet with high content of distillers grains can be partially alleviated by supplementation of cations. In the current study, we observed no beneficial effects of DG containing yeast bodies.

Derivation of prognostic contextual histopathological features from whole-slide images of tumours via graph deep learning

Methods of computational pathology applied to the analysis of whole-slide images (WSIs) do not typically consider histopathological features from the tumour microenvironment. Here, we show that a graph deep neural network that considers such contextual features in gigapixel-sized WSIs in a semi-supervised manner can provide interpretable prognostic biomarkers. We designed a neural-network model that leverages attention techniques to learn features of the heterogeneous tumour microenvironment from memory-efficient representations of aggregates of highly correlated image patches. We trained the model with WSIs of kidney, breast, lung and uterine cancers and validated it by predicting the prognosis of 3,950 patients with these four different types of cancer. We also show that the model provides interpretable contextual features of clear cell renal cell carcinoma that allowed for the risk-based retrospective stratification of 1,333 patients. Deep graph neural networks that derive contextual histopathological features from WSIs may aid diagnostic and prognostic tasks.

Open versus minimally invasive radical hysterectomy for early cervical cancer: A two-center retrospective cohort study with pathologic review of usual-type adenocarcinoma and adenosquamous carcinoma

OBJECTIVE

To compare survival outcomes of minimally invasive surgery (MIS) and open surgery for radical hysterectomy (RH) in early cervical cancer patients with histologic subtypes of usual-type adenocarcinoma and adenosquamous carcinoma.

METHODS

From two centers' cervical cancer cohorts, patients with 2009 FIGO stage IB1-IB2 who underwent RH between 2007 and 2020 were retrospectively identified. Patients with usual-type adenocarcinoma and adenosquamous carcinoma were included in the analysis after pathologic review according to the updated World Health Organization Classification of Tumors. Clinicopathologic characteristics and survival outcomes were compared in terms of open surgery or MIS.

RESULTS

This study included 161 patients. No significant differences were noted in overall survival (OS; P = 0.241) and disease-free survival (DFS; P = 0.156) between patients with usual-type adenocarcinoma (n = 136) and those with adenosquamous carcinoma (n = 25). MIS RH group (n = 99) had a significantly smaller tumor size (P < 0.001), lesser pathologic parametrial invasion (P = 0.001), and lesser lymph node metastasis (P < 0.001) than open RH group (n = 62). MIS and open RH groups showed similar OS (P = 0.201) and 3-year DFS rate (87.9% vs. 75.1%; P = 0.184). In multivariate analysis, worse DFS was not associated with MIS (P = 0.589) but was associated with pathologic parametrial invasion (adjusted HR, 3.41; 95% CI, 1.25-9.29; P = 0.016). Consistent results were observed among patients with usual-type adenocarcinoma; MIS was not associated with worse DFS.

CONCLUSIONS

Comparable survival outcomes were found for MIS and open RH in early-stage cervical usual-type adenocarcinoma and adenosquamous carcinoma. Although MIS RH was not a poor prognostic factor, pathologic parametrial invasion was significantly associated with worse DFS in cervical usual-type adenocarcinoma and adenosquamous carcinoma.

Scintillation light detection in the 6-m drift-length ProtoDUNE Dual Phase liquid argon TPC

DUNE is a dual-site experiment for long-baseline neutrino oscillation studies, neutrino astrophysics and nucleon decay searches. ProtoDUNE Dual Phase (DP) is a 6  ×  6  ×  6 m3 liquid argon time-projection-chamber (LArTPC) that recorded cosmic-muon data at the CERN Neutrino Platform in 2019-2020 as a prototype of the DUNE Far Detector. Charged particles propagating through the LArTPC produce ionization and scintillation light. The scintillation light signal in these detectors can provide the trigger for non-beam events. In addition, it adds precise timing capabilities and improves the calorimetry measurements. In ProtoDUNE-DP, scintillation and electroluminescence light produced by cosmic muons in the LArTPC is collected by photomultiplier tubes placed up to 7 m away from the ionizing track. In this paper, the ProtoDUNE-DP photon detection system performance is evaluated with a particular focus on the different wavelength shifters, such as PEN and TPB, and the use of Xe-doped LAr, considering its future use in giant LArTPCs. The scintillation light production and propagation processes are analyzed and a comparison of simulation to data is performed, improving understanding of the liquid argon properties.

Self-care recommended by clinicians in patients with heart failure or type 2 diabetes: a Delphi study

Background

Patients with heart failure or type 2 diabetes often experience bothersome symptoms (e.g., swelling, dizziness) and need clinical support with symptom management to reduce the impact of these symptoms. Knowledge about recommended self-care management behaviors by experienced clinicians can help to guide the development of more effective self-care interventions.

Purpose

To develop a list of common bothersome symptoms of heart failure and type 2 diabetes and of self-care management behaviors that clinicians recommend to patients to reduce the impact of these symptoms.

Methods

A two-round Delphi study among a panel of 37 nurses and physicians (heart failure only n=14; type 2 diabetes only n=11 and both heart failure and type 2 diabetes n=12) from Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden and the US was performed. Online surveys were used to identify common and bothersome symptoms and related self-care management behaviors that they recommend to patients with heart failure or type 2 diabetes. Self-care management behaviors that received at least 75% agreement were retained and similar self-care management behaviors were discussed and merged to reduce redundancy.

Results

For heart failure, the final list included 12 common bothersome symptoms (e.g., fatigue/tiredness, shortness of breath) and 51 related self-care management behaviors (e.g., balance rest & activity, check body weight & swelling). For type 2 diabetes, 11 common bothersome symptoms (e.g., hypo- and hyperglycemia symptom clusters, foot wounds) and 25 related self-care management behaviors (e.g., check blood sugar, take insulin, contact podiatrist) were included in the final list. Consensus was reached on the vast majority (70%) of recommended behaviors.

Conclusion

The lists of common bothersome symptoms and self-care management behaviors reflect consensus but also discrepancies between clinicians’ recommendations and current guidelines. Efforts to enhance and align the use of proven effective self-care management behaviors to reduce symptom impact in routine care by clinicians should be considered.

A modified device to place abomasal infusion lines for rumen-cannulated cattle

A previously developed abomasal infusion device was modified for easy and successful placement of infusion lines into the abomasum of dairy cows. Similar to the original device, the modified device consists of 2 pieces: an insertion tool and a delivery tool. Updates include streamlining both the insertion and delivery tools by slightly altering dimensions and design, then smoothing all rough edges. The primary changes include a parallel cut along the entire length of the insertion and delivery tools and encasement of the infusion line inside both tools, allowing for smoother insertion through the reticulum-omasum orifice and into the omasum and abomasum. Additionally, increasing the outside diameter of the delivery tool to reduce the gap between the delivery tool and insertion tool, increasing the length of the tools, and making a loop of cord attached to the insertion tool facilitate insertion and easy ejection of the flange into the abomasum. By using this modified device, placement of abomasal infusion lines (including flange) was more successful.

Evaluation of prognostic risk models for postoperative pulmonary complications in adult patients undergoing major abdominal surgery: a systematic review and international external validation cohort study

BACKGROUND

Stratifying risk of postoperative pulmonary complications after major abdominal surgery allows clinicians to modify risk through targeted interventions and enhanced monitoring. In this study, we aimed to identify and validate prognostic models against a new consensus definition of postoperative pulmonary complications.

METHODS

We did a systematic review and international external validation cohort study. The systematic review was done in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. We searched MEDLINE and Embase on March 1, 2020, for articles published in English that reported on risk prediction models for postoperative pulmonary complications following abdominal surgery. External validation of existing models was done within a prospective international cohort study of adult patients (≥18 years) undergoing major abdominal surgery. Data were collected between Jan 1, 2019, and April 30, 2019, in the UK, Ireland, and Australia. Discriminative ability and prognostic accuracy summary statistics were compared between models for the 30-day postoperative pulmonary complication rate as defined by the Standardised Endpoints in Perioperative Medicine Core Outcome Measures in Perioperative and Anaesthetic Care (StEP-COMPAC). Model performance was compared using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROCC).

FINDINGS

In total, we identified 2903 records from our literature search; of which, 2514 (86·6%) unique records were screened, 121 (4·8%) of 2514 full texts were assessed for eligibility, and 29 unique prognostic models were identified. Nine (31·0%) of 29 models had score development reported only, 19 (65·5%) had undergone internal validation, and only four (13·8%) had been externally validated. Data to validate six eligible models were collected in the international external validation cohort study. Data from 11 591 patients were available, with an overall postoperative pulmonary complication rate of 7·8% (n=903). None of the six models showed good discrimination (defined as AUROCC ≥0·70) for identifying postoperative pulmonary complications, with the Assess Respiratory Risk in Surgical Patients in Catalonia score showing the best discrimination (AUROCC 0·700 [95% CI 0·683-0·717]).

INTERPRETATION

In the pre-COVID-19 pandemic data, variability in the risk of pulmonary complications (StEP-COMPAC definition) following major abdominal surgery was poorly described by existing prognostication tools. To improve surgical safety during the COVID-19 pandemic recovery and beyond, novel risk stratification tools are required.

Wnt/β-Catenin Inhibition by CWP232291 as a Novel Therapeutic Strategy in Ovarian Cancer

The poor prognosis of ovarian cancer patients mainly results from a lack of early diagnosis approaches and a high rate of relapse. Only a very modest improvement has been made in ovarian cancer patient survival with traditional treatments. More targeted therapies precisely matching each patient are strongly needed. The aberrant activation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway plays a fundamental role in cancer development and progression in various types of cancer including ovarian cancer. Recent insight into this pathway has revealed the potential of targeting Wnt/β-catenin in ovarian cancer treatment. This study aims to investigate the effect of CWP232291, a small molecular Wnt/β-catenin inhibitor on ovarian cancer progression. Various in vitro, in vivo and ex vivo models are established for CWP232291 testing. Results show that CWP232291 could significantly attenuate ovarian cancer growth through inhibition of β-catenin. Noticeably, CWP232291 could also s suppress the growth of cisplatin-resistant cell lines and ovarian cancer patient-derived organoids. Overall, this study has firstly demonstrated the anti-tumor effect of CWP232291 in ovarian cancer and proposed Wnt/β-catenin pathway inhibition as a novel therapeutic strategy against ovarian cancer.

POS0779 STANDARDIZED MORTALITY RATIO AND RISK FACTORS FOR DEATH IN SOUTHERN CHINESE PATIENTS WITH THE ANTIPHOSPHOLIPID SYNDROME (APS)

Objectives

To report the mortality rate and risk factors for death in southern Chinese patients with the antiphospholipid syndrome (APS)

Methods

The HKAPS registry was established in early 2020 by the Hong Kong Society of Rheumatology to study the outcomes of Chinese patients with APS treated in public hospitals in Hong Kong. Patients aged ≥18 years were identified by the Hospital Authority Clinical Data retrieval system using the ICD-10 diagnostic code of APS. The medical history and APS diagnosis was verified by sub-investigators in different hospitals using the 2006 modified consensus criteria for the APS. Eligible patients were classified into definite APS or probable APS, which was further categorized into primary (without underlying rheumatic diseases) and secondary types. The treatment and outcome (recurrence and mortality) of the patients was studied by Kaplan-Meier analysis and risk factors for recurrence of thrombosis and mortality were studied by Cox regression.

Results

428 APS patients were studied - 282 fulfilled the 2006 criteria for APS while 146 patients had probable APS (anti-phospholipid [aPL] antibodies positive once or with non-criteria manifestations). All were ethnic Chinese. The mean age at diagnosis was 44.1±15.6 years and the female to male ratio was 3.4:1. APS was primary in 211 patients and secondary to concomitant rheumatic diseases in 217 patients (SLE in 89.9%). 369(86.4%) patients had thromboembolic manifestations, 85(19.9%) had obstetric morbidities and 20(4.7%) had both. In patients with secondary APS, 23% thrombotic or obstetric manifestations occurred before diagnosis of the rheumatic diseases. Lupus anticoagulant (LAC), moderate/high titers of IgG anticardiolipin and anti-β2glycoprotein-1 antibodies was present in 326(76.1%), 242(56.5%) and 29(6.7%) patients, respectively. 137(32%) patients were double positive while 19(4.4%) patient was triple positive for these aPL antibodies. Among the thromboembolic manifestations, arterial thrombosis (n=201) was more common than venous thrombosis (n=186). The following treatment regimens were used: warfarin (63.6%), aspirin plus subcutaneous heparin (6.8%), aspirin plus warfarin (3%), aspirin alone (17.8%) and direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) (2.8%). Bleeding complications developed in 77(18%) patients.

After a mean follow-up of 8.0±14.1 years, recurrence of thromboembolic or obstetric complications occurred in 83(19.4%) and 14(3.3%) patients, respectively (1 patient had recurrence of both thrombosis and obstetric complications). Cox regression did not reveal any factors significantly associated with recurrence of thrombosis. A total of 67(15.7%) patients succumbed (median time to death 7.3 years). The causes of death were vascular in 29.9% (intracranial haemorrhage [35%], myocardial infarction [30%], limb ischemia [10%], ischemic stroke[10%], bowel ischemia[5%]) and non-vascular in 70.1% of patients (infection [59.6%], malignancy [10.6%], SLE activity [6.4%], pulmonary arterial hypertension [2.1%], organ failure [6.4%] and others). The cumulative risk of mortality over time was 6.4% at 5 years and 11.9% at 10 years. The age and sex adjusted standardized mortality ratio (SMR) of our APS patients relative to the general population was 18.2(14.2-23.0). In patients with thrombotic APS, mortality was associated with older age (≥60 years) (HR 2.57[1.34-4.95]) and the presence of LAC (HR 2.01[1.07-3.75]), adjusted for age, sex and vascular risk factors that included hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidaemia, smoking and atrial fibrillation.

Conclusion

APS in southern Chinese is relatively uncommon and most cases were associated with SLE. In contrast to the Caucasians, venous thrombosis related to APS is less frequent. Over 8 years, recurrence of thrombotic events is uncommon. The mortality of APS in our Chinese patients was increased, with older age and the presence of LAC being independent risk factors.

SLUG is a key regulator of epithelial-mesenchymal transition in pleomorphic adenoma

The histogenesis of pleomorphic adenoma (PA) of the salivary glands remains controversial. PAs are characterized by the transition of epithelial cells to spindled mesenchymal cells, known as epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). The present study aimed to identify a major EMT-inducing transcription factor (EMT-TF) in PAs. Real-time PCR analysis of SNAIL, SLUG, ZEB1, and TWIST1 demonstrated that only SLUG was significantly upregulated in normal salivary glands and PAs. Combined in situ hybridization for SLUG and multiplex immunohistochemistry for CK19 and P63 revealed that SLUG was specifically expressed in the myoepithelial cells of normal salivary glands. In PAs, SLUG was expressed in neoplastic myoepithelial cells and stromal cells but not in the luminal cells lining the inner layers of tumor glands. SLUG expression showed no correlation with PLAG1 expression, and in vitro experiments demonstrated that PLAG1 suppression in primary cultured PA cells or PLAG1 overexpression in HEK 293 T cells did not affect SLUG levels, indicating that PLAG1 was not involved in the upregulation of SLUG in PAs. The suppression of SLUG expression in cultured PA cells resulted in a morphology change to a less elongated shape and attenuated tumor growth. In addition, SLUG downregulation led to increased E-cadherin and decreased N-cadherin and vimentin expression levels along with decreased migratory activity in cultured PA cells. These findings suggest that SLUG is a major TF that can induce EMT in PAs. In summary, SLUG is specifically and highly expressed in the myoepithelial cells and stromal cells of PAs and is a key regulator of EMT in PAs.

Intra-instrument channel workable, optical-resolution photoacoustic and ultrasonic mini-probe system for gastrointestinal endoscopy

There has been a long-standing expectation that the optical-resolution embodiment of photoacoustic tomography could have a substantial impact on gastrointestinal endoscopy by enabling microscopic visualization of the vasculature based on the endogenous contrast mechanism. Although multiple studies have demonstrated the in vivo imaging capability of a developed imaging device over the last decade, the implementation of such an endoscopic system that can be applied immediately when necessary via the instrument channel of a video endoscope has been a challenge. In this study, we developed a 3.38-mm diameter catheter-based, integrated optical-resolution photoacoustic and ultrasonic mini-probe system and successfully demonstrated its intra-instrument channel workability for the standard 3.7-mm diameter instrument channel of a clinical video endoscope based on a swine model. Through the instrument channel, we acquired the first in vivo dual-mode photoacoustic and ultrasonic endoscopic images from the esophagogastric junction of a swine. Further, in a rat colorectum in vivo imaging experiment, we visualized hierarchically developed mesh-like capillary networks with a hole size as small as ~50 µm, which suggests the potential level of image details that could be photoacoustically provided in clinical settings in the future.

Comparison of Core Body Temperatures in Patients Administered Remimazolam or Propofol during Robotic-Assisted and Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy

Background and Objectives: Different types of anesthetics affect thermoregulatory mechanisms, such as the redistribution of body temperature, loss of skin heat, or inhibition of thermoregulatory vasoconstriction. Therefore, we compared remimazolam with propofol in terms of core body temperature in patients undergoing robotic-assisted and laparoscopic radical prostatectomy. Materials and methods: Ninety patients were randomly assigned to either the propofol−remifentanil (PR) group or the remimazolam−remifentanil (RR) group. The PR group (n = 45) received effect-site concentrations of 6.0 μg/mL of propofol and 4 ng/mL of remifentanil, followed by 0.9 mg/kg of 1% rocuronium and maintenance with effect-site concentrations of 2−4 μg/mL of propofol and 3 ng/mL of remifentanil. The RR group (n = 45) received remimazolam 6 mg/kg/h by continuous intravenous infusion and the effect-site concentration of 4 ng/mL of remifentanil, followed by 0.9 mg/kg of 1% rocuronium, remimazolam 1−3 mg/kg/h, and remifentanil 3 ng/mL. The primary outcome was core body temperature, and secondary outcomes included vasoconstriction threshold (°C) and time to onset of vasoconstriction (min). Results: The core body temperature in the RR group was significantly higher at 60, 80, 100, 120, 140, 160, and 180 min after induction than in the PR group (p < 0.01). The vasoconstriction threshold was significantly higher in the RR group (35.2 ± 0.4) than in the PR group (34.8 ± 0.3) (p < 0.01). The time to onset of vasoconstriction was significantly less in the RR group (150.5 ± 10.2) than in the PR group (158.5 ± 8.4) (p < 0.01). However, the incidence of intraoperative hypothermia was not significant between two groups. Conclusions: Remimazolam appears to reduce vasoconstriction threshold less than and had a faster onset of vasoconstriction, resulting in superior thermoregulatory control.
