Abstract
Computed tomography angiography is widely used for the assessment of various mesenteric vascular and bowel diseases in humans. However, there are only few studies that describe CT angiography application to mesenteric vessels in dogs. In this prospective, experimental, exploratory study, the mesenteric vasculature and enhancement pattern of the intestinal wall were evaluated on triple-phase CT angiography, and improvement of the visibility of vasculature was assessed on multiplanar reformation, maximum intensity projection, and volume rendering technique. After test bolus scanning at the level of the cranial mesenteric artery arising from the aorta, mesenteric CT angiography was performed in 10 healthy, male, Beagle dogs. Scan delay was set based on time-to-attenuation curves, drawn by placing the regions of interest over the aorta, intestinal wall, and cranial mesenteric vein. Visualization and enhancement of mesenteric arteries and veins were evaluated with multiplanar reformation, maximum intensity projection, and volume rendering techniques. The degree of intestinal wall enhancement was assessed on the transverse images in precontrast, arterial, intestinal, and venous phases. Pure arterial images were obtained in the arterial phase. Venous phase images allowed good portal vascular mapping. All CT angiography images were of high quality, allowing for excellent visualization of the anatomy of mesenteric vasculature including the small branches, particularly on maximum intensity projection and volume rendering technique. Distinct contrast enhancement of the intestinal wall was observed in both intestinal and venous phases. Findings indicated that this technique is feasible for the evaluation of mesenteric circulation in dogs.

Abstract
The first (v_{1}^{fluc}), second (v_{2}), and third (v_{3}) harmonic coefficients of the azimuthal particle distribution at midrapidity are extracted for charged hadrons and studied as a function of transverse momentum (p_{T}) and mean charged particle multiplicity density ⟨N_{ch}⟩ in U+U (sqrt[s_{NN}]=193 GeV), Au+Au, Cu+Au, Cu+Cu, d+Au, and p+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV with the STAR detector. For the same ⟨N_{ch}⟩, the v_{1}^{fluc} and v_{3} coefficients are observed to be independent of the collision system, while v_{2} exhibits such a scaling only when normalized by the initial-state eccentricity (ϵ_{2}). The data also show that ln(v_{2}/ϵ_{2}) scales linearly with ⟨N_{ch}⟩^{-1/3}. These measurements provide insight into initial-geometry fluctuations and the role of viscous hydrodynamic attenuation on v_{n} from small to large collision systems.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effect of contrast medium injection rate on CT-derived renal perfusion estimates obtained with the maximum slope method in healthy small dogs. ANIMALS 6 healthy sexually intact male purpose-bred Beagles. PROCEDURES All dogs underwent CT perfusion analysis 3 times in a crossover design, receiving a different contrast medium injection rate (1.5, 3.0, and 4.5 mL/s) each time, with a 1-week interval between imaging sessions. All CT images were obtained at the level of the left renal hilus. The time to peak aortic enhancement (TPAE) and time to initial renal venous enhancement (TIRVE) were measured from time-attenuation curves. The renal CT perfusion estimates (blood flow and blood volume) were estimated by use of the maximum slope method, which assumes no venous outflow of contrast medium during CT perfusion analysis. RESULTS The TPAE occurred at or before the TIRVE at all injection rates. Median values of estimated blood flow and blood volume did not differ significantly among injection rates. CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE Results suggested that the assumption of no venous outflow of contrast medium during renal CT perfusion analysis with the maximum slope method was satisfied for all 3 contrast medium injection rates in the evaluated dogs. A low injection rate may be more practical than higher injection rates that require large catheters for CT perfusion analysis in small dogs such as Beagles.

Abstract
Each plane of layered ReS2 and ReSe2 materials has 1D chain structure, from which intriguing properties such as 1D character of the exciton states and linearly polarized photoluminescence originate. However, systematic studies on the 1D character of charge carriers have not been done yet. Here, we report on systematic and comparative studies on the energy-momentum dispersion relationships of layered transition metal dichalcogenides ReS2 and ReSe2 by angle resolved photoemission. We found that the valence band maximum or the minimum energy for holes is located at the high symmetric Z-point for both materials. However, the out-of-plane (\documentclass[12pt]{minimal}

\begin{document}$${k}_{z}$$\end{document}kz) dispersion for ReSe2 (20 meV) is found to be much smaller than that of ReS2 (150 meV). We observe that the effective mass of the hole carriers along the direction perpendicular to the chain is about 4 times larger than that along the chain direction for both ReS2 and ReSe2. Remarkably, the experimentally measured hole effective mass is about twice heavier than that from first principles calculation for ReS2 although the in-plane anisotropy values from the experiment and calculations are comparable. These observation indicate that bulk ReS2 and ReSe2 are unique semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenides having strong one-dimensional characters.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate acute changes of the liver by use of shear wave elastography (SWE) and CT perfusion after radiofrequency ablation (RFA). ANIMALS 7 healthy Beagles. PROCEDURES RFA was performed on the liver (day 0). Stiffness of the ablation lesion, transitional zone, and normal parenchyma were evaluated by use of SWE, and blood flow, blood volume, and arterial liver perfusion of those regions were evaluated by use of CT perfusion on days 0 and 4. All RFA lesions were histologically examined on day 4. RESULTS Examination of the SWE color-coded map distinctly revealed stiffness of the liver tissue, which increased from the normal parenchyma to the transitional zone and then to the ablation zone. For CT perfusion, blood flow, blood volume, and arterial liver perfusion decreased from the transitional zone to the normal parenchyma and then to the ablation zone. Tissue stiffness and CT perfusion variables did not differ significantly between days 0 and 4. Histologic examination revealed central diffuse necrosis and peripheral hyperemia with infiltration of lymphoid cells and macrophages. CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE Coagulation necrosis induced a loss of blood perfusion and caused tissue hardening (stiffness) in the ablation zone. Hyperemic and inflammatory changes of the transitional zone resulted in increased blood perfusion. Acute changes in stiffness and perfusion of liver tissue after RFA could be determined by use of SWE and CT perfusion. These results can be used to predict the clinical efficacy of RFA and to support further studies, including those involving hepatic neoplasia.

Abstract
The dilution of chicken semen is one of the important processes for low-temperature storage and cryopreservation and is considered to be a highly applicable method for semen exchanges between small farms in developing countries. However, studies on chicken semen preservation have been limited for several reasons. First, dilution shocks chicken semen, with more than 4 to 6 times deterioration of sperm qualities. For example, approximately 8 to 10 times dilution reduces the activity and vitality of chicken semen. The dilution factor of chicken semen could not compete with that of mammals such as cow, ram, and goat. Second, the use of glycerol as a cryoprotectant causes serious problems such as infertility of spermatozoa; therefore, farmers are reluctant to use cryopreserved semen. To increase dilution factors of chicken semen without loss of fertility, the use of fatty acid-free BSA (FAF-BSA) in Beltsville poultry semen extender (BPSE) diluent was studied with Leghorn semen. In this study, fresh semen of 9 leghorn cocks was obtained using the side collection method. The semen was diluted 10 times using BPSE medium supplemented with 0.1% FAF-BSA as a final concentration and preserved at 17°C to test fertility and hatchability of diluted chicken semen. The semen was stored at 17°C for 6h to test transportation time and used for AI to 18 layers with 3 repeats. After AI with 100µL of preserved semen (total: 60~120×106 spermatozoa), the fertilized eggs were harvested for 10 days and incubated at 37.8°C for 21 days. The fertility of the eggs was confirmed at 5 days and the hatchability was confirmed at 21 days of incubation. The supplementation of FAF-BSA in dilution medium induced higher fertility rates (53.2% v. 38.3%; P<0.05), and hatching rates also increased (90.9% v. 78.33%; P<0.05) compared with the control group. All data were analysed by Student’s t-test. These results showed that FAF-BSA supplementation could improve semen utilisation by low-temperature preservation. Small farmers who want to increase the ability of their herd could utilise FAF-BAS containing diluents to exchange the semen.

Abstract
RATIONALE Injinoryung-San-Gagambang (IJORS) effectively improves hepatic dysfunction caused by polypharmacy in stroke patients. PATIENT CONCERNS We present 3 cases of hepatic dysfunction caused by polypharmacy, one of which was a 51-year-old man with cerebellum infarction and pneumonia as a complication of stroke. He took multiple medications because of baseline diseases. After recurrence of pneumonia, his laboratory tests showed abnormal aminotransferase levels. Another patient was an 81-year-old woman with cerebral infarction at the right-middle cerebral artery. She was also taking >5 medications. Her laboratory tests conducted on admission showed abnormally elevated aminotransferase levels. The last patient was 77-year-old man with cerebral infarction at the left-middle cerebral artery. He also had an abdominal aneurysm, a thoracic aortic aneurysm, and a myocardial infarction. After taking multiple medications including healthy functional foods, his laboratory tests showed abnormally elevated aminotransferase levels. DIAGNOSIS Diagnosis is conducted with the result of laboratory test including blood count, chemistry test. INTERVENTIONS All 3 patients received the same herbal treatment (IJORS decoction) for 1 to 3 weeks. OUTCOMES All 3 patients' abnormal serum aminotransferase level were significantly improved by IJORS decoction treatment while keeping other medicines. LESSONS IJORS can be considered as an effective treatment for hepatic dysfunction induced by numerous medications in stroke patients.

Abstract
Asymmetric nuclear collisions of p+Al, p+Au, d+Au, and ^{3}He+Au at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV provide an excellent laboratory for understanding particle production, as well as exploring interactions among these particles after their initial creation in the collision. We present measurements of charged hadron production dN_{ch}/dη in all such collision systems over a broad pseudorapidity range and as a function of collision multiplicity. A simple wounded quark model is remarkably successful at describing the full data set. We also measure the elliptic flow v_{2} over a similarly broad pseudorapidity range. These measurements provide key constraints on models of particle emission and their translation into flow.

Abstract
We report first measurements of e^{+}e^{-} pair production in the mass region 0.4<M_{ee}<2.6 GeV/c^{2} at low transverse momentum (p_{T}<0.15 GeV/c) in noncentral Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV and U+U collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=193 GeV. Significant enhancement factors, expressed as ratios of data over known hadronic contributions, are observed in the 40%-80% centrality of these collisions. The excess yields peak distinctly at low p_{T} with a width (sqrt[⟨p_{T}^{2}⟩]) between 40 and 60 MeV/c. The absolute cross section of the excess depends weakly on centrality, while those from a theoretical model calculation incorporating an in-medium broadened ρ spectral function and radiation from a quark gluon plasma or hadronic cocktail contributions increase dramatically with an increasing number of participant nucleons. Model calculations of photon-photon interactions generated by the initial projectile and target nuclei describe the observed excess yields but fail to reproduce the p_{T}^{2} distributions.

Abstract
Topological semimetals host electronic structures with several band-contact points or lines and are generally expected to exhibit strong topological responses. Up to now, most work has been limited to non-magnetic materials and the interplay between topology and magnetism in this class of quantum materials has been largely unexplored. Here we utilize theoretical calculations, magnetotransport and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy to propose Fe3GeTe2, a van der Waals material, as a candidate ferromagnetic (FM) nodal line semimetal. We find that the spin degree of freedom is fully quenched by the large FM polarization, but the line degeneracy is protected by crystalline symmetries that connect two orbitals in adjacent layers. This orbital-driven nodal line is tunable by spin orientation due to spin-orbit coupling and produces a large Berry curvature, which leads to a large anomalous Hall current, angle and factor. These results demonstrate that FM topological semimetals hold significant potential for spin- and orbital-dependent electronic functionalities.

Abstract
We report measurements of the nuclear modification factor R_{CP} for charged hadrons as well as identified π^{+(-)}, K^{+(-)}, and p(p[over ¯]) for Au+Au collision energies of sqrt[s_{NN}]=7.7, 11.5, 14.5, 19.6, 27, 39, and 62.4 GeV. We observe a clear high-p_{T} net suppression in central collisions at 62.4 GeV for charged hadrons which evolves smoothly to a large net enhancement at lower energies. This trend is driven by the evolution of the pion spectra but is also very similar for the kaon spectra. While the magnitude of the proton R_{CP} at high p_{T} does depend on the collision energy, neither the proton nor the antiproton R_{CP} at high p_{T} exhibit net suppression at any energy. A study of how the binary collision-scaled high-p_{T} yield evolves with centrality reveals a nonmonotonic shape that is consistent with the idea that jet quenching is increasing faster than the combined phenomena that lead to enhancement.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Assessments of the range of motion (ROM) in human joints have been widely used to evaluate the joint condition. Although maker based motion capture system is the most popular and practical method in the clinical field, there have been limitations such as the relatively long time required in procedure or influence of attached markers on natural movement. Recently, markerless motion capture systems have been actively developed due to their relatively lower cost and convenience for installation. The POM-Checker (Team Elysium Inc., Seoul, Rep of Korea), a markerless motion capture system, was developed with new algorithms to assess the ROM in human joints. However, the measure of the POM-Checker has not been compared with a golden-standard device in evaluating the ROM in the human joints. So we developed a protocol to evaluate the validation and reliability of the POM-Checker in measuring the shoulder ROM. This study will also provide a standard procedure to measure the shoulder ROM with the POM-Checker and 3D motion analysis system simultaneously. METHODS/DESIGN This protocol is for a single institution comparative study to evaluate the validity and reliability of POM-Checker. Six participants will be recruited. We will measure the angles of shoulder abduction and flexion with POM-Checker and 3D motion analysis system simultaneously. The primary outcome is the angles of shoulder abduction and flexion. DISCUSSION This will be the first study to analyze the validity and reliability of POM-Checker in measuring shoulder ROM. Although the sample size of this study is small, it may not influence on the results conclusively, because the measures are very precise numerical angles. Furthermore, the angles of shoulder movements will be measured with both devices simultaneously. CONCLUSION The results of the study will be helpful to find out the validity and reliability of a new developed ROM measure device, POM-Checker, by comparison with a golden standard system, 3D motion capture system, in measuring the shoulder ROM. It will also contribute to use of the POM-Checker in measuring the ROMs in many human joints.

Abstract
Background
Hyperglycemia leading to increased oxidative stress is implicated in the increased risk for the development of macrovascular and microvascular complications in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus.
Methods and Results
A random subcohort of 349 participants was selected from the
DCCT
/
EDIC
(Diabetes Control and Complications Trial/Epidemiology of Diabetes Interventions and Complications) cohort. This included 320 controls and 29 cardiovascular disease cases that were augmented with 98 additional known cases to yield a case cohort of 447 participants (320 controls, 127 cases). Biosamples from
DCCT
baseline, year 1, and closeout of
DCCT
, and 1 to 2 years post‐
DCCT
(
EDIC
years 1 and 2) were measured for markers of oxidative stress, including plasma myeloperoxidase, paraoxonase activity, urinary F
2α
isoprostanes, and its metabolite, 2,3 dinor‐8
iso
prostaglandin F
2α
. Following adjustment for glycated hemoblobin and weighting the observations inversely proportional to the sampling selection probabilities, higher paraoxonase activity, reflective of antioxidant activity, and 2,3 dinor‐8
iso
prostaglandin F
2α
, an oxidative marker, were significantly associated with lower risk of cardiovascular disease (−4.5% risk for 10% higher paraoxonase,
P
<0.003; −5.3% risk for 10% higher 2,3 dinor‐8
iso
prostaglandin F
2α
,
P
=0.0092). In contrast, the oxidative markers myeloperoxidase and F
2α
isoprostanes were not significantly associated with cardiovascular disease after adjustment for glycated hemoblobin. There were no significant differences between
DCCT
intensive and conventional treatment groups in the change in all biomarkers across time segments.
Conclusions
Heightened antioxidant activity (rather than diminished oxidative stress markers) is associated with lower cardiovascular disease risk in type 1 diabetes mellitus, but these biomarkers did not change over time with intensification of glycemic control.
