Abstract
OBJECTIVES Patient reported outcomes (PROs) are relevant in rheumatology. Variable accessibility and validity of commonly used PROs are obstacles to homogeneity in evidence synthesis. The objective of this project was to provide a comprehensive library of "validated PROs". METHODS A launch meeting with rheumatologists, PROs methodological experts, and patients, was held to define the library's aims and scope, and basic requirements. To feed the library we performed systematic reviews on selected diseases and domains. Relevant information on PROs was collected using standardised data collection forms based on the COSMIN checklist. RESULTS The EULAR Outcomes Measures Library (OML), whose aims are to provide and to advise on PROs on a user-friendly manner albeit based on scientific grounds, has been launched and made accessible to all. PROs currently included cover any domain and, are generic or specifically target to the following diseases: rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, spondyloarthritis, low back pain, systemic lupus erythematosus, gout, osteoporosis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, and fibromyalgia. Up to 236 instruments (106 generic and 130 specific) have been identified, evaluated, and included. The systematic review for SLE, which yielded 10 specific instruments, is presented here as an example. The OML website includes, for each PRO, information on the construct being measured and the extent of validation, recommendations for use, and available versions; it also contains a glossary on common validation terms. CONCLUSIONS The OML is an in progress library led by rheumatologists, related professionals and patients, that will help to better understand and apply PROs in rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases.

Abstract
The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is necessary for the proper function of the brain. Its maintenance is regulated by endogenous factors. Recent evidences suggest prolactin (PRL) regulates the BBB properties in vitro, nevertheless no evidence of these effects have been reported in vivo. The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of PRL in the maintenance of the BBB in the rat. Male Wistar rats were treated with Bromocriptine (Bromo) to inhibit PRL production for 28days in the absence or presence of lipopolysaccharide (LPS). BBB permeability was evaluated through the Evans Blue dye and fluorescein-dextran extravasation as well as through edema formation. The expression of claudin-5, occludin, glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and the PRL receptor (PRLR) was evaluated through western blot. Bromo reduced the physiological levels of PRL at 28days. At the same time, Bromo increased BBB permeability and edema formation associated with a decrement in claudin-5 and occludin and potentiated the increase in BBB permeability induced by LPS. However, no neuroinflammation was detected, since the expression of GFAP was unchanged, as well as the expression of the PRLR. These data provide the first evidence that inhibition of PRL with Bromo affects the maintenance of the BBB through modulating the expression of tight junction proteins in vivo.

Abstract
AIMS Accumulation of advanced glycation end-products (AGEs), may explain the major contribution of chronic kidney disease (CKD) to cardiovascular events in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) related to their impaired renal function. The aim of this study was to analyze the factors associated with AGE assessed by skin autofluorescence and their association with macroangiopathy in T2D. METHODS We measured skin autofluorescence in patients hospitalized for T2D. Glomerular filtration rates were estimated (eGFR) by the EPI-CKD formula. Associations between skin autofluorescence, renal function and macroangiopathy were explored by multivariate analyses adjusting for diabetes duration and control. RESULTS The 418 patients had T2D since 13.3 (SD 9.8) years on average, high mean HbA1C: 8.9%, (SD 1.8), (74 mmol/mol, (SD 15)) and often renal complications (49.4% with CKD). Their mean skin autofluorescence was 2.53 (SD 0.62) A.U. In multivariate linear regression, skin autofluorescence was significantly associated with age (+0.20 for ten more years, p<0.0001), renal insufficiency (-0.07 for less 10 mL/min/1.73 m² eGFR, p<0.0001) and smoking (+0.21, p=0.0004). Autofluorescence (p=0.01), but not CKD, was associated with macroangiopathy independent of diabetes duration and control. CONCLUSIONS Accumulation of AGEs is independently associated with renal insufficiency and macroangiopathy in patients with T2D.

Abstract
The hydrogen (H) dimer structures formed upon room-temperature H adsorption on single layer graphene (SLG) grown on SiC(0001) are addressed using a combined theoretical-experimental approach. Our study includes density functional theory (DFT) calculations for the full (6√3 × 6√3)R30° unit cell of the SLG/SiC(0001) substrate and atomically resolved scanning tunneling microscopy images determining simultaneously the graphene lattice and the internal structure of the H adsorbates. We show that H atoms normally group in chemisorbed coupled structures of different sizes and orientations. We make an atomic scale determination of the most stable experimental geometries, the small dimers and ellipsoid-shaped features, and we assign them to hydrogen adsorbed in para dimers and ortho dimers configuration, respectively, through comparison with the theory.
