Abstract
The unique properties of nonlinear waves have been recently exploited to enable a wide range of applications, including impact mitigation, asymmetric transmission, switching, and focusing. Here, we demonstrate that the propagation of nonlinear waves can be as well harnessed to make flexible structures crawl. By combining experimental and theoretical methods, we show that such pulse-driven locomotion reaches a maximum efficiency when the initiated pulses are solitons and that our simple machine can move on a wide range of surfaces and even steer. Our study expands the range of possible applications of nonlinear waves and demonstrates that they offer a new platform to make flexible machines to move.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the incidence and influencing factors of venous thromboembolism (VTE) after lung transplantation. Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 375 lung transplant patients from January 2015 to December 2017 in Wuxi People's Hospital. Every patient was classified into the VTE group or the non-VTE group according to whether the patient had VTE or not. Basic information like age, type of surgical procedure etc. was compared between two groups. The prevention and treatment of VTE between two groups were also compared. Furthermore, multivariate Logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the influence of related factors on the occurrence of postoperative VTE. Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) was diagnosed with vascular ultrasonography, and pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) was diagnosed with CT pulmonary angiogram, nuclear ventilation/perfusion scanning, or pulmonary angiography. Results: This study included 316 lung transplant patients. VTE occurred in 19 patients (6.0%) during perioperative and follow-up period. The age of the VTE group was significantly higher than that of the non-VTE group (63.4±11.9 vs 54.3±13.0, P=0.003). The proportion of single lung transplantation in the VTE group was significantly higher than that in the non-VTE group (78.9% vs 48.5%, P=0.010). The incidence of VTE in patients without prevention was significantly higher than that in patients with prevention (15.0% vs 1.9%, P<0.001). Single lung transplantation (OR=4.425, P=0.018), duration in intensive care unit (ICU) (OR=1.396, P=0.001) and age (OR=1.080, P=0.005) were independent risk factors for VTE after lung transplantation. Conclusions: The incidence of VTE after lung transplantation is high. Single lung transplantation, prolonged duration of ICU stay and advanced age increase the risk of VTE after lung transplantation.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of laparoscopic subtotal colonic bypass plus colostomy with antiperistaltic cecoproctostomy (SCBCAC) in the treatment of senile slow transit constipation. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was performed. Clinical data of 30 colonic slow transit constipation patients aged ≥70 years old undergoing laparoscopic SCBCAC from July 2012 to October 2016 (bypass plus colostomy group), and 28 patients undergoing laparoscopic subtotal colonic bypass with antiperistaltic cecoproctostomy (SCBAC) from February 2009 to June 2012 (bypass group) at our institute were collected. Efficacy was compared between the two procedures. Inclusion criteria: (1) meeting the Rome III diagnosis criteria for constipation; (2) confirmed diagnosis of slow transit constipation; (3) age ≥ 70 years old; (4) receiving non-surgical treatment for more than 5 years, and Wexner constipation score > 15; (5) follow-up for more than 2 years. Those with psychiatric symptoms or previous psychiatric history, obvious signs of outlet obstructive constipation, organic diseases of the colon and life-threatening cardiovascular diseases or cancer were excluded. In the bypass plus colostomy group, laparoscopy was performed via five trocars. The ileocecal junction and the ascending colon were mobilized and the ileocecal junction was pulled down to the pelvic inlet. The ascending colon was transected and the appendix was excised. The lateral peritoneum of the sigmoid colon and the rectal mesentery were dissected and the upper rectum was transected. The avil of a circular stapler was placed in the bottom of the cecum. The shaft of the stapler was placed in the rectum via the anal canal to complete end-to-side anastomosis (end rectum to lateral cecum). The end of the rectal-sigmoid colon was used for colostomy via an extraperitoneal approach to complete the operation. The following efficacy indexes were collected before surgery and 3, 6, 12, and 24 months after surgery: the number of daily bowel movements, the Wexner incontinence scale (WIS, 0-20, the lower the better), the Wexner constipation scale (WCS, 0-30, the lower the better), the gastrointestinal quality of life index (GIQLI, 0-144, the higher score, the better), abdominal pain intensity indicated by the numerical rating scale (NRS, 0-10, the lower score, the better), and the abdominal bloating score (ABS, 0-4, the lower score, the better). The complications defined as Clavien-Dindo class II or above were observed and recorded. Results: No significant differences in preoperative WCS, WIS, GIQLI, NRS, and ABS were observed between bypass plus colostomy group and bypass group (all P>0.05). All the patients successfully underwent laparoscopic surgery and no patient in either group experienced postoperative fecal incontinence. WCS and GIQLI were significantly improved (all P<0.001) at 3, 6, 12, and 24 months after surgery in both groups. At 12 months after surgery, the number of bowel movements was significantly less in bypass plus colostomy group than that in bypass group [(2.4±0.7) times vs. (3.4±1.2) times, t=4.048, P<0.001]. At 3, 6, 12 and 24 months after surgery, the improvement of GIQLI in bypass plus colostomy group was significantly better than that in bypass group (all P<0.001). At 24 months after surgery, GIQLI in bypass plus colostomy group and bypass group was 122.3±5.3 and 92.8±16.6, respectively, with a significant difference (t=9.276, P<0.001). At 12 and 24 months after surgery, NRS in bypass plus colostomy group was significantly better than that in bypass group (both P<0.001). At 24 months after surgery, NRS in bypass plus colostomy group was 0.9±0.7, while that in bypass group was 3.7±2.7. There was a significant difference between two groups (t=5.585, P<0.001). At 6, 12 and 24 months after surgery, the improvement of ABS in bypass plus colostomy group was also significantly better than that in bypass group. At 24 months after surgery, ABS in bypass plus colostomy group was 0.6±0.6, while that in bypass group was 2.5±1.0, with a significant difference between two groups (t=8.797, P<0.001). At 1 year after surgery, barium enema examination was performed in all the patients of both groups. The barium emptying time was (21.2±3.8) hours and (95.8±86.2) hours in bypass plus colostomy group and bypass group respectively. The former group was significantly better than the latter group (t=4.740, P<0.001). Conclusions: Laparoscopic SCBCAC is an effective and safe procedure for the treatment of senile slow transit constipation and can significantly improve prognosis. Its clinical efficacy is better than laparoscopic SCBAC.

Abstract
One of the main functions of the piwi-interacting RNA pathway is the post-transcriptional silencing of transposable elements in the germline of many species. In insects, proteins belonging to the Tudor superfamily proteins belonging to the Tudor superfamily play an important role in to play an important role in this mechanism. In this study, we identified the tudor gene in the oriental fruit fly, Bactrocera dorsalis, investigated the spatiotemporal expressional profile of the gene, and performed a functional analysis using RNA interference. We identified one transcript for a tudor homologue in the B. dorsalis transcriptome, which encodes a protein containing the typical 10 Tudor domains and an Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) synthase delta subunit signature. Phylogenetic analysis confirmed the identity of this transcript as a tudor homologue in this species. The expression profile indicated a much higher expression in the adult and pupal stages compared to the larval stages (up to a 60-fold increase), and that the gene was mostly expressed in the ovaries, Malpighian tubules and fat body. Finally, gene knockdown of tudor in B. dorsalis led to clearly underdeveloped ovaries in the female adult and reductions in copulation rate and amount of oviposition, indicating its important role in reproduction. The results of this study shed more light on the role of tudor in ovary development and reproduction.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Significant clinical recovery has commonly been observed in ischaemic stroke patients with irreversible brain structural damage. However, brain mechanisms that help to maintain clinical function remain unclear. METHODS Sixty-two patients with acute ischaemic stroke underwent longitudinal clinical assessments and magnetic resonance scanning. The clinical recovery trajectory was evaluated using a hierarchical linear model and intrinsic connectivity was analysed with a seed-based approach to examine its changing pattern based on the regional volume changes calculated using voxel-wise analysis. RESULTS It was observed that clinical outcome measures improved mainly in the short-term period (baseline versus 3 weeks) and then remained stable. Grey matter volume was reduced significantly in the bilateral caudate over the entire 3-year long-term period. Significant intrinsic connectivity increases were observed in the caudate-middle cingulum over the short-term period and in the caudate-precuneus and caudate-calcarine over the long-term period. Finally, it was found that increased caudate-calcarine connectivity was associated with reduced right caudate volume, and a positive correlation was found between increased caudate-middle cingulum connectivity and the amount of modified Rankin score changes. CONCLUSIONS The increased intrinsic connectivity found in this study tends to be a compensatory mechanism for post-stroke structural damage, associated with clinical recovery. The study helps in understanding the significance of enhanced intrinsic connectivity in post-stroke long-term assessment and rehabilitation.

Abstract
Swine wastewaters with high levels of organic pollutants and antibiotics have become serious environmental concerns. Anaerobic technology is a feasible option for swine wastewater treatment due to its advantage in low costs and bioenergy production. However, antibiotics in swine wastewater have problematic effects on micro-organisms, and the stability and performance of anaerobic processes. Thus, this paper critically reviews impacts of antibiotics on pH, COD removal efficiencies, biogas and methane productions as well as the accumulation of volatile fatty acids (VFAs) in the anaerobic processes. Meanwhile, impacts on the structure of bacteria and methanogens in anaerobic processes are also discussed comprehensively. Furthermore, to better understand the effect of antibiotics on anaerobic processes, detailed information about antimicrobial mechanisms of antibiotics and microbial functions in anaerobic processes is also summarized. Future research on deeper knowledge of the effect of antibiotics on anaerobic processes are suggested to reduce their adverse environmental impacts.

Abstract
When all the parts of the wavefront imaging system are kept static after wavefront measuring, the target's images are blurry, because the depth of field (DOF) of the system affects the imaging quality. In this paper, the method for extending the DOF of the wavefront imaging system through an integrated architecture of a liquid-crystal microlens array (LCMLA) powered by electricity and a common photosensitive array, is presented. The DOF can be extended remarkably only by stitching together several sub-images of the LCMLA. The problem that the wavefronts and imaging results are insensitive to the objective depth is also solved. Optimal driving voltage signals are found out according to Sobel mean gradient to efficiently calibrate the depth of objective space in order to quantitatively measure the depth. The approach indicates a viable way to effectively extend the DOF of imaging micro-systems and to measure the geometrical depth of targets at the same time.

Abstract
SummaryVenous thromboembolism is rare in Chinese. To determine the incidence and disease profile of thrombophilia in Chinese patients with thrombosis, 52 unselected Chinese patients with documented venous thrombosis were studied for the presence of thrombophilia. Levels of antithrombin III (AT III), protein C (PC) and protein S (PS) as well as the presence of acquired lupus anticoagulant (LA) and anticardiolipin antibody (ACA) were investigated. Thirty patients were found to be abnormal. These consisted of 5 AT III deficiencies, 9 PC deficiencies, 10 PS deficiencies, 1 combined PC & PS deficiency (all in the heterozygous range), and 5 patients with LA and/or ACA. When the patients with LA and/or ACA are excluded, the incidence of hereditary thrombophilia is 25/47 i.e. 53.2%' which is much higher than those reported in studies of Caucasian patients selected under strict criteria. Family studies performed in 16 cases ot hereditary thrombophilia revealed involvement in 11 cases (68.7%); a total of 36 heterozygous family members were affected, most of which remain asymptomatic. Although 35 events predisposing to thrombosis (27 pregnancies, 1 oral contraceptive consumption and 7 surgical operations) were identified among these index patients, and the heterozygous family members, thrombosis was observed on only 6 occasions (17.1%). The data suggest that pregnancy and surgery do not carry the same degree of thrombotic risk in Chinese as in the Caucasian population with heterozygous AT III, PC and PS deficiency.

Abstract
Phosphoglucomutases (PGM) (5.4.2.2.) belong to the Phosphohexomutases superfamily and are highly specific in catalyzing the interconversion of Glc-1-P to Glc-6-P. In this study, we characterize the expression and activity of two cytosolic PGMs (cPGM2 and cPGM3) stigmas of ornamental kale during flower development. In stigmas, cPGM expression and activity showed a gradual increase during stigma development with the highest activity around the time of anthesis. Blocking of cPGM activity in the stigmas using a known inhibitor, resulted in breakdown of self-incompatibility in immature S3 and S4 stigmas, but had no effect on the fully mature S5 stigmas. It is likely that cPGMs are required for accumulation of factors necessary for SI response in mature stigmas.

Abstract
Hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection causes subclinical diseases, leading to high mortality (>25%) in pregnant women. HEV replication is aggressively escalated in pregnant women, especially in the third trimester of pregnancy. Oestrogen plays an important role in pregnancy. However, the pathogenesis of HEV in pregnant women or immunosuppressive pregnant women (such as HIV-infected or organ-transplanted pregnant women) remains unclear. We investigated the role of oestradiol in HEV infection in a cell culture system. HEV-infected pregnant women had significantly higher oestradiol levels compared with uninfected individuals. HEV infection was significantly increased in cells treated with analogues of oestradiol, diethylstilbestrol (DES) or 17β-oestradiol in a dose-dependent way. However, tamoxifen, an antagonist oestrogen, inhibited HEV replication. HEV infection inhibits oestrogen receptor (ER-α) expression. Immunofluorescence and co-immunoprecipitation assays indicated that ER-α interacted with the helicase of HEV ORF1 indirectly. More importantly, HEV infection was exacerbated in immunosuppressive cells treated with an inhibitor of PI3K-AKT-mTOR signal pathway (LY296004) and supplemented with pregnant women serum with high oestradiol simultaneously. These results strongly suggest that pregnant women with high oestradiol and/or immunosuppression will be vulnerable to HEV infection.

Abstract
The regional distribution of white matter (WM) abnormalities in schizophrenia remains poorly understood, and reported disease effects on the brain vary widely between studies. In an effort to identify commonalities across studies, we perform what we believe is the first ever large-scale coordinated study of WM microstructural differences in schizophrenia. Our analysis consisted of 2359 healthy controls and 1963 schizophrenia patients from 29 independent international studies; we harmonized the processing and statistical analyses of diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) data across sites and meta-analyzed effects across studies. Significant reductions in fractional anisotropy (FA) in schizophrenia patients were widespread, and detected in 20 of 25 regions of interest within a WM skeleton representing all major WM fasciculi. Effect sizes varied by region, peaking at (d=0.42) for the entire WM skeleton, driven more by peripheral areas as opposed to the core WM where regions of interest were defined. The anterior corona radiata (d=0.40) and corpus callosum (d=0.39), specifically its body (d=0.39) and genu (d=0.37), showed greatest effects. Significant decreases, to lesser degrees, were observed in almost all regions analyzed. Larger effect sizes were observed for FA than diffusivity measures; significantly higher mean and radial diffusivity was observed for schizophrenia patients compared with controls. No significant effects of age at onset of schizophrenia or medication dosage were detected. As the largest coordinated analysis of WM differences in a psychiatric disorder to date, the present study provides a robust profile of widespread WM abnormalities in schizophrenia patients worldwide. Abstract
Identifying the exact transmission route(s) of infectious diseases in indoor environments is a crucial step in developing effective intervention strategies. In this study, we proposed a comparative analysis approach and built a model to simulate outbreaks of 3 different in-flight infections in a similar cabin environment, that is, influenza A H1N1, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) coronavirus (CoV), and norovirus. The simulation results seemed to suggest that the close contact route was probably the most significant route (contributes 70%, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 67%-72%) in the in-flight transmission of influenza A H1N1 transmission; as a result, passengers within 2 rows of the index case had a significantly higher infection risk than others in the outbreak (relative risk [RR]: 13.4, 95% CI: 1.5-121.2, P = .019). For SARS CoV, the airborne, close contact, and fomite routes contributed 21% (95% CI: 19%-23%), 29% (95% CI: 27%-31%), and 50% (95% CI: 48%-53%), respectively. For norovirus, the simulation results suggested that the fomite route played the dominant role (contributes 85%, 95% CI: 83%-87%) in most cases; as a result, passengers in aisle seats had a significantly higher infection risk than others (RR: 9.5, 95% CI: 1.2-77.4, P = .022). This work highlighted a method for using observed outbreak data to analyze the roles of different infection transmission routes.

Abstract
Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) is one of the major public health challenges in the world. Due to a strong interplay between specific T-cell immunity and elimination of hepatitis B virus (HBV), efforts to develop novel immunotherapeutics are gaining attention. TG1050, a novel immunotherapy, has shown efficacy in an animal study. To support the clinical development of TG1050 in China, specific immunity to the fusion antigens of TG1050 was assessed in Chinese patients. One hundred and thirty subjects were divided into three groups as CHB patients, HBV spontaneous resolvers, and CHB patients with HBsAg loss after antiviral treatment. HBV-specific T-cell responses to pools of HBV Core or Polymerase genotype D peptides included in TG1050 were evaluated. HBV Core- or Polymerase-specific cells were detected in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from the different cohorts. The frequencies and intensities of HBV Core-specific immune responses were significantly lower in CHB patients than in HBsAg loss subjects. In CHB patients, a dominant pool derived from Polymerase (Pol1) was the most immunogenic. CHB patients with low viral loads (<106 IU/mL) were more likely to have a positive response specific to the Core peptide pool. Overall, genotype D-derived peptides included in TG1050 could raise broad and functional T-cell responses in PBMCs from Chinese CHB patients infected with genotype B/C isolates. Core-specific immunogenic domains appeared as "hot spots" with the capacity to differentiate between CHB vs HBsAg loss subjects. These observations support the extended application and associated immune monitoring of TG1050 in China.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the timing and complications of lung transplantation for the treatment of connective tissue disease-associated interstitial lung disease (CTD-ILD). Method: The clinical data of connective tissue-associated disease lung transplantation recipients from September, 2015 to February, 2017 were collected. Results: 11 patients with CTD-ILD were evaluated by lung transplantation and were treated with lung transplantation. Including 2 cases dermatomyositis/polymyositis and interstitial lung disease (PM/DM-ILD), 4 cases rheumatoid arthritis and interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD), 4 cases of primary Sjgren's syndrome and interstitial lung disease (pSS-ILD), 1 case of systemic sclerosis and interstitial lung disease (SSc-ILD). There are 6 cases are CTD-ILD-PAH patients of all. There were 5 males and 6 females, aged 37-70 years, with an average age of (52.73±9.53) years. 7 patients received single lung transplantation, 4 patients received double lung transplantation. 3 patients died in the early postoperative period, one for pulmonary embolism, one for septic shock and heart failure, one for severe primary graft failure (PGD). The remaining patients were followed up (4-24 months) with good survival, no acute and chronic rejection and other complications were observed. The survival rate was similar to that of other disease sources. Conclusion: There is no recurrence, acute and chronic rejection and other complications were observed in CTD-ILD and/or PAH lung transplant recipients. And the survival rate was comparable to that of other disease sources.Lung transplantation is a safe and effective choice for selected CTD-ILD patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study the application value of procalcitonin (PCT) in patients with central nervous system (CNS) infection. PATIENTS AND METHODS A total of 66 patients, including 24 patients with suppurative meningitis, 20 patients with viral meningitis and 22 patients with tuberculous meningitis, were enrolled. 20 patients admitted to the hospital due to epilepsy or headache without infection in the same period were enrolled as the control group. PCT, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (Hs-CRP), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (Hs-CRP), protein quantification, chloride and glucose in serum and cerebrospinal fluid, were collected. RESULTS The serum PCT level in suppurative meningitis group was significantly higher than that in other three groups. The dynamic monitoring of suppurative meningitis group on admission, at 72 h and 1 week after treatment showed that the serum PCT level was significantly decreased. PCT levels in cerebrospinal fluid in suppurative meningitis group, viral meningitis group and tuberculous meningitis group were decreased successively, and the differences were statistically significant. The detection of PCT in cerebrospinal fluid was more valuable than serum PCT detection in distinguishing tuberculous meningitis from viral meningitis. Continuous monitoring of changes in PCT in cerebrospinal fluid showed that there was no statistically significant difference before and after treatment. PCT level in cerebrospinal fluid was positively correlated with the serum PCT, cerebrospinal fluid white blood cell (WBC), and protein content in cerebrospinal fluid. CONCLUSIONS The dynamic changes of serum PCT in patients with suppurative meningitis can be used to evaluate the disease, guide the clinical medication, and monitor the prognosis.

Abstract
Purpose To compare the efficacy and safety of conbercept and ranibizumab when administered according to a treat-and-extend (TREX) protocol for the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in China. Patients and methods Between May 2014 and May 2015, 180 patients were treated in a 1 : 1 ratio using conbercept or ranibizumab from four hospitals. Patients received either conbercept 0.5 mg or ranibizumab 0.5 mg intravitreal injections. Follow-up time was 1 year and treated based on a TREX approach. Main outcomes and measures include best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), using Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study (ETDRS); number of injections; central retinal thickness (CRT); and leakage of choroidal neovascularization before and after the treatment was analyzed by fluorescein fundus angiography and indocyanine green angiography. Results The 1-year visit was completed by 168 (93.3%) of patients. Mean BCVA was equivalent between two cohorts, and were improved by 12.7±7.770 and 12.3±7.269 letters in the conbercept and ranibizumab cohorts, respectively (P=0.624). There was no significant difference in measured CRT, with a mean decrease of 191.5 μm for conbercept and 187.8 μm for ranibizumab (P=0.773). There was a statistically significant difference (P=0.001) between the drugs regarding the number of treatments: 7.4 for conbercept and 8.7 for ranibizumab. The difference in the distribution of injection intervals was statistically significant between two groups (P=0.011). During the study, there were no cases of endophthalmitis or intraocular inflammation. Conclusion Both drugs had equivalent effects in visual and anatomic gains at 1 year when administered. In the conbercept group, longer treatment intervals were achieved with more patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Thrombectomy trials are often specifically interpreted as evidence for the effectiveness of stent retrievers. The effectiveness of other thrombectomy techniques such as aspiration thrombectomy should be validated through further investigation and review. PURPOSE To evaluate published treatment times and clinical outcomes in patients treated with aspiration thrombectomy or ADAPT (A Direct Aspiration, First Pass Technique) for acute ischemic stroke. DATA SOURCES A systematic literature review was performed following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. MEDLINE, Scopus, and the Cochrane trial register were searched on November 8, 2016. STUDY SELECTION Twenty studies (n = 1523 patients) were included in this review and meta-analysis. One of these studies was prospective, and the rest were retrospective. DATA ANALYSIS Meta-analysis was performed by using a random effects model. Data and publication bias were visualized with forest plots and funnel plots. DATA SYNTHESIS Five studies investigated aspiration thrombectomy only, and 16 studies investigated ADAPT. Of the 16 studies on ADAPT, the rate of successful recanalization (TICI 2b/3) was 89.3% (95% CI, 85.4%-92.3%). The proportion of patients with good clinical outcome (90-day mRS ≤2) was 52.7% (95% CI, 48.0%-57.4%). LIMITATIONS Studies on ADAPT were retrospective, and there was heterogeneity between studies for successful recanalization (P < .001) and good clinical outcome (P < .001). There was evidence of publication bias for recanalization rates (P = .01), but not for clinical outcomes (P = .42). CONCLUSIONS ADAPT and aspiration thrombectomy are effective approaches to thrombectomy, with high recanalization rates and excellent clinical outcomes reported in the literature. Aspiration thrombectomy is a promising neurointervention, but large prospective randomized studies are needed to validate its utility.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the value of lung function for the prognosis of cardiac surgery in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD). Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the hospitalized patients with coronary heart disease or valvular heart disease in Beijing Anzhen hospital during Janury 2013 to December 2015. The relationship between lung function and extubation time, time of staying in ICU, second time tracheal incubation, tracheotomy and mortality rate were analyzed. Results: There were 355 patients without surgery in a total 1 729 of patients, of which 65 (18.31%)suffered from severe pulmonary dysfunction. There were 242 patients with obstructive ventilation dysfunction, 75 with mild, 127 with moderate, and 40 with severe and very severe obstructive ventilation dysfunction. There were significant differences in the rates of planned extubation and late extubation between patients with normal lung function (81.6% and 10.7%) and those with abnormal lung function(74.4% and 12.8%). In patients with different GOLD classification (Ⅰ, Ⅱ, and Ⅲ-Ⅳ), there were significant differences in the rates of early extubation 14.7%, 14.2% and 5%, planned extubation (80%, 74% and 65%) and late extubation (5.3%, 11.8% and 30%). By comparison with patients without COPD, the extubation time of COPD patients increased by 20.3%, the time of staying in ICU prolonged by 14.2%, and the mortality rate increased to 180%(P<0.05). However, there was no significant difference in the rate of second time tracheal incubation or tracheotomy. Conclusion: There was a close relationship between GOLD classification and prognosis of cardiac surgery patients with COPD. Cardiac surgery needs to be cautious because of increase in incidence of postoperative adverse events in patients with severe pulmonary dysfunction.
