Abstract
PURPOSE Prognostic studies of posttransplantation lymphoproliferative disorders (PTLDs) are hindered by the small number of cases at each transplant center. We analyzed prognostic factors and long-term outcome according to clinical manifestations, pathologic features, and treatment and investigated the prognostic value of the non-Hodgkin's lymphoma International Prognostic Index (IPI) in 61 patients with PTLD. PATIENTS AND METHODS We studied 61 patients in two institutions who developed PTLD and analyzed factors influencing the complete remission and survival rates. RESULTS In univariate analysis, factors predictive of failure to achieve complete remission were performance status (PS) > or = (P =.0001) and nondetection of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) in the tumor (P =.01). Only a negative link with PS > or = 2 was observed in multivariate analysis. In univariate analysis, factors predictive of lower survival were PS > or = 2, the number of sites (one v > one), primary CNS localization, T-cell origin, monoclonality, nondetection of EBV, and treatment with chemotherapy. The IPI failed to identify a patient subgroup with better survival and was less predictive of the response rate than was a specific index using two risk factors (PS and number of involved sites), which defined three groups of patients: low-risk patients whose median survival time has not yet been reached, intermediate-risk patients with a median survival time of 34 months, and high-risk patients with a median survival time of 1 month. CONCLUSION PS and the number of involved sites defined three risk groups in our population. The value of these prognostic factors needs to be confirmed in larger cohorts of patients treated in prospective multicenter studies.

Abstract
In a patient with recently diagnosed chronic myelomonocytic leukemia features, the biopsy of a peripheral lymphadenopathy seven months later revealed disorganised lymphoid tissue with a few large EBER (+) LMP1 (+) B-lymphocytes before any treatment was given. At this time, a clonal TCR gamma rearrangement and very faint clonal IgH rearrangement were demonstrated, and the diagnosis of angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma was made. Treatment with MOPP was started, followed by Hydroxycarbamide and CHOP but the outcome was fatal. During the evolution, there was no blastic transformation of the chronic myelomonocytic leukemia. The T-cell lymphoma extended to abdominal lymph nodes, Waldeyer ring and bone marrow and the percentage of large LMPI EBER (+) B-cells increased in the lymph nodes. These findings do not support a common stem cell abnormality leading to myelodysplasia in the bone marrow and lymphoma in peripheral lymph nodes. The lack of a clearcut light chain restriction in the EBV infected B-cell is suggestive of a persistant EBV infection in polyclonal or oligoclonal activated B-cells as described in immunodepressed patients. The association of CMML features and an angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma is discussed.

Abstract
B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemias (BCP-ALLs) are increasingly treated on risk-adapted protocols based on presenting clinical and biological features. Residual molecular positivity of clonal immunoglobulin (IG) and T-cell receptor (TCR) rearrangements allows detection of patients at an increased risk of relapse. If these rearrangements are to be used for universal follow-up, it is important to determine the extent to which they are informative in different BCP-ALL subsets. We show that IGH V-D-J rearrangements occur in 89% of 163 BCP-ALL, with no significant variation according to age or genotype (BCR-ABL, TEL-AML1, MLL-AF4, and E2A-PBX1). In contrast, TCRG rearrangements, which occur in 60% of patients overall, are frequent in BCR-ABL and TEL-AML1, are less so in MLL-AF4, and are virtually absent in infants aged predominantly from 1 to 2 years and in E2A-PBX1 ALLs. Incidence of the predominant TCRD Vdelta2-Ddelta3 rearrangement decreases with age but is independent of genotype. These differences are not due to differential recombination activating gene activity, nor can they be explained adequately by stage of maturation arrest. Analysis of MLL-AF4 BCP-ALL is in keeping with transformation of a precursor at an early stage of ontogenic development, despite the adult onset of the cases analyzed. We postulate that the complete absence of TCRG rearrangement in E2A-PBX1 cases may result from deregulated E2A function. These data also have practical consequences for the use of TCR clonality for the molecular follow-up of BCP-ALL.

Abstract
AIMS The presence of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) was studied in 56 gastric carcinomas from Western patients by in-situ hybridization for EBV-encoded RNAs (EBER). EBV-positive and negative carcinomas were compared for various pathological parameters including p53 overexpression. METHODS AND RESULTS EBERs transcripts were detected in seven cases overall: four cases of 52 conventional carcinomas (7. 7%) and three cases of four gastric carcinomas with lymphoid stroma (75%). EBER positivity was diffuse in five cases and restricted to a localized area of the tumour in two cases of conventional carcinoma. A monoclonal EBV genomic pattern was demonstrated in the case tested by Southern blot analysis. By immunohistochemical analysis, neither EBV latent or lytic cycle proteins nor C3d/EBV receptor were expressed by neoplastic cells. EBER positivity was significantly correlated with prominent lymphoid reaction (P = 0.0002) which was associated with numerous PS100-positive dendritic cells and with HLA-DR expression by tumour cells (P = 0.03). p53 immunoreactivity in more than 30% of tumour cells was detected in 25 out 49 EBV-negative cases and was absent in EBV-positive cases except in one case with focal EBER-positivity. CONCLUSIONS Focal staining for EBER is an unusual finding in the setting of gastric carcinoma and these results suggest that there might be two types of EBV-associated gastric carcinoma in which the viral infection will play a different role. The presence of a stromal lymphoid reaction which is strongly correlated with EBV positivity, is associated with antigen-presenting ability by HLA-DR-positive tumour cells or abundant dendritic cells. The function of p53 appears preserved in all EBV-associated carcinomas except in one case with focal EBER expression whereas the immunohistochemical pattern of p53 is suggestive of a mutational phenomenon in 51% of EBV-negative cases.

Abstract
The excess risk of chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) in the first-degree relatives of affected patients suggests that familial CLL might constitute a useful model to study the pathogenesis of this disease, as has been demonstrated in numerous other neoplastic disorders. Previous studies have shown non-random utilization of immunoglobulin genes in CLL, some germline in sequence and others containing numerous somatic mutations. To investigate whether familial cases of CLL exhibit similarities in the composition of the B-cell receptor repertoire to the pattern expressed by CLL patients as a whole, we have studied 25 CLL patients belonging to 12 different families (four French and eight Italian), each of which contained at least two affected members. Among familial cases, VH gene segment utilization proved non-random and diverged from the frequencies previously reported among unrelated patients with CLL. Specifically, although the 4-34 and 5-51 gene segments were found repeatedly, the 1-69 and 4-39 gene segments were used sparingly and the 3-23 gene segment presented with increased frequency. Following the pattern detected in studies of unrelated patients, the single 1-69 expressing CLL contained an unmutated H chain sequence and included a long HCDR3 interval. In contrast, 3-23 containing H chains all used JH4, retained at most 93% homology with germline sequence, and included only short HCDR3 intervals. The vast majority of the CLL variable domains contained a high degree of somatic mutation and exhibited an excess of replacement mutations in the CDR intervals. These findings suggest that familial CLL cases may preferentially derive from B-cell progenitors that have responded to antigen.

Despite different hypotheses, the brain localization of these B cell lymphomas remains an enigma. To better define the cell origin of the lymphomas and the possible role of the B cell receptor (BCR) in the brain localization and/or in the oncogenic transformation, we analyzed the V region genes of the Ig heavy chain expressed by lymphoma cells in five randomly selected patients. After amplifying the rearranged VHDJH DNA by PCR, cloning, and sequencing of the amplified products, we observed that: 1) of the five lymphomas analyzed, four were clearly monoclonal; 2) there was no preferential use of one peculiar VH family or one peculiar segment of gene; 3) the mutation analysis showed that an Ag-driven process occurred in at least two cases, probably before the oncogenic event; and 4) there was no intraclonal variability, suggesting that the hypermutation mechanism is no longer efficient in these lymphoma B cells. Taken together, our results suggest that distinct Ags could be recognized by the BCR of the lymphoma cells in different patients and that, if the Ags are responsible for the brain localization of these B cells bearing mutated BCR, other factors must be involved in B cell transformations in primary central nervous system lymphoma.

Abstract
PURPOSE Burkitt-like lymphoma (BLL) is a tumor with morphologic features intermediate between Burkitt's lymphoma (BL) and large-cell lymphoma, but its relationship with these lymphomas is currently unclear. We have therefore analyzed its characteristics within a large series of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-associated lymphomas. MATERIALS AND METHODS Clinical, histologic, immunophenotypic, and molecular analyses were performed on 103 patients with AIDS lymphomas. RESULTS Nineteen cases (18.4%) were identified as BLL. They were monoclonal B-cell proliferations, as evaluated by immunoglobulin (Ig) gene rearrangement analyses, and had rearrangement of the c-myc oncogene in 68% of cases but not the bcl-2 gene, in contrast to a previous study on non-HIV-associated BLL. This molecular pattern was therefore identical to that of typical BL, suggesting that they represented tumors of similar origin. However, some features could clearly differentiate BLL from BL and were similar to those seen in the diffuse large-cell immunoblastic lymphomas (DLC-IBL) group. These included a greater frequency of Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) infection (79% v 48%, P = .04), an upregulation of CD39 (50% v 0%, P = .0007) and CD70 (75% v 15%, P = .003) activation antigens and of the CD11a/LFA-1 adhesion molecule (83% v30%, P = .05), and, finally, a lower CD4 count (mean, 119/microL v 270/microL, P = .04). CONCLUSION BLL is a frequent entity among AIDS lymphomas and should be considered as a morphologic variant of BL in the context of severe immunodepression that occurs in HIV-infected patients.

Abstract
PURPOSE Organ recipients are at a high risk of posttransplant lymphoproliferative disorders (PTLD) as a result of immunosuppressive therapy. Most B-cell lymphomas are associated with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection. We describe a morphologically and clinically distinct group of PTLD in 11 patients that occurred late after organ transplantation and were not associated with EBV. PATIENTS AND METHODS There were seven kidney, three heart, and one liver transplant recipients (group I). The clinical manifestations, pathologic findings, treatment, and outcome were compared with those in 21 patients with EBV-associated PTLD treated in our institution (group II). EBV was detected with at least two techniques: Epstein-Barr-encoded RNA (EBER) in situ hybridization with EBER 1 + 2 probes, Southern blotting, and detection of latent membrane protein 1 (LMP1) expression by immunohistochemistry. RESULTS The time between transplantation and the diagnosis of lymphoma ranged from 180 to 10,220 days in group I (mean, 2,234; median, 1,800) and from 60 to 2,100 days in group II (mean, 546; median, 180), and was significantly shorter in group II (P = .02). Among 19 tumors diagnosed within 2 years after the graft, 16 were associated with EBV; among 13 tumors diagnosed after more than 2 years, only five were associated with EBV. All of the B-cell PTLDs in group I were classified as monomorphic, meeting the criteria of B diffuse large-cell lymphoma (B-DLCL) with a component of immunoblasts, and genotyping confirmed their monoclonality. Three tumors were T-cell pleomorphic lymphomas. Tumor sites were mainly bone marrow and lymph nodes. Overall median survival was 1 month in group I and 37 months in group II, with two patients still alive in group I and nine in group II. The survival time was significantly longer in group II (P < .01). CONCLUSION EBV-negative PTLD may be a late serious complication of organ transplantation. Half the tumors observed after kidney transplantation in our center were not associated with EBV and emerged after more than 5 years, which suggests the number of EBV-negative PTLDs in organ recipients might increase with time.

Abstract
Alteration of the tumour suppressor gene p53 is frequent in AIDS-related non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (AIDS-NHL), particularly in Burkitt's or Burkitt's-like lymphomas (BL/BLL). Since mechanisms of inactivation other than mutations have been advanced, the transcriptional activity of the p53 protein was studied in a functional assay in yeast in a series of AIDS-NHL lesions and compared with their morphology, immunohistochemistry (IHC) and single-strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) analysis detection of other p53 abnormalities, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) status, MDM-2 oncoprotein expression and c-MYC rearrangement. Polymorphic lymphoproliferations (PL), identified as precursors of NHL in HIV-patients, were also analysed in attempt to detect p53 modifications related to clonal progression. The functional assay detected p53 mutants in 40% (12/ 30) of the tumours: 50% (6/12) of BL/BLL, 40% (4/10) of diffuse large cell lymphomas (DLCL) and 25% (2/8) of PL. An oligoclonal or monoclonal population was identified in the two PL cases with mutant p53. An accumulation of the p53 protein was detected by IHC in 26% (8/30) of the tumours (five BL/BLL and three DLCL) and was associated with positive functional assay. In the 20 lesions tested by both of the screening methods for mutations, a p53 mutant pattern was detected in 55% of cases (11/20) and in 25% of cases (5/ 20) respectively with the functional assay and SSCP analysis of exons 5-8. There was no inverse correlation between the detection of EBV genome and the presence of p53 mutations and no overexpression of MDM-2 protein for the whole series. In conclusion, the functional assay was more sensitive than IHC and SSCP for the detection of p53 mutations in tumour samples. The mutations identified in AIDS-NHL lesions inactivate the p53 protein and in PL they could represent a selection of an aggressive clone.

Abstract
According to the literature, self-learning plans represent an helpful and very flexible method in order to individualize the nursing students' learning activities, to develop the students' autonomy and responsibility together with the skills required for continuing nursing education. The educational experience of the implementation of the self learning plans in the practical training of the nursing students of the Pediatric Nursing School of Trieste, during 1996-97, is described. The 9 third year students produced 27 learning plans. According to the mentors and the students, the overall experience had a positive impact. The presentation and evaluation of the learning plans spurred the students' initiative, the adoption of innovative learning and research strategies and allowed to replace the traditional classroom teaching lectures. The main problems related to the implementation of this method lay in the increase of mentors' workload and in the difficulties in matching the high flexibility of the method with the inflexibility and constraints of both the organization and teaching programs and paces.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Pleural effusions are common in patients with the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Their most frequent causes are Kaposi's sarcoma and mycobacterial infections. We report cytologic, immunophenotypic and molecular features of a primary pleural non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) that represent an uncommon cause of isolated pleural effusion in patients with AIDS. CASE A 66-year-old, human immunodeficiency virus-positive male presented with chest pain and dyspnea. He had no history of opportunistic infections or Kaposi's sarcoma. A chest radiography displayed a right-sided pleural effusion. Cytology of pleural fluid revealed lymphomatous cells with markedly irregular nuclei. Their immunophenotype was indeterminate. Computed tomography of the thorax and abdomen did not show any tumor mass. Molecular analysis demonstrated that the lymphomatous cells had a B-cell genotype and contained Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) DNA sequences. CONCLUSION This case belongs to a new subgroup of AIDS-related NHL that is characterized by unusual morphology, null immunophenotype, B-cell genotype and association with both KSHV and EBV.

Abstract
Site-specific deletions of the 5' part of the TAL1 gene (tal(d)) are among the most frequent non-random genetic abnormalities in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (T-ALL). They are usually detected by PCR from DNA with several primer pairs or by Southern blot analysis. Since tal(d) lead to expression of a SIL-TAL1 fusion transcript, irrespective of the genomic breakpoint, we have used a single monoplex RT-PCR reaction to screen 55 T-ALL patients at diagnosis. SIL-TAL1 transcripts were demonstrated in 12 (22%) cases, including 7/27 (26%) children <15 years of age, 2/8 (25%) adolescents and 2/17 (12%) adults aged >20 years. SIL-TAL1 RT-PCR was preferrable to tal(d) DNA PCR since it allowed the simultaneous detection of tal(d), tal(d2) and two previously undescribed tal(d) variants. SIL-TAL1 RT-PCR screening should therefore increase the detection rate of tal(d) by approximately 15-20%, with an at least comparable sensitivity to tal(d) genomic PCR, and represents a more practical and economic alternative to multiple DNA PCRs or Southern blotting when incorporated into molecular screening for multiple transcripts at diagnosis.

Abstract
To characterize early B-cell precursors in humans, we correlated immunoglobulin heavy chain (IgH) gene rearrangement status with the CD34, CD19, and CD10 cell surface markers. Highly purified adult bone marrow (BM) cell fractions were obtained by two successive rounds of flow cytometric cell sorting, and IgH rearrangements were analyzed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification. Complete VDJH rearrangements were observed in the CD34+ CD19+ fraction, but not in the more immature CD34+ CD19- fraction. About one quarter of these rearrangements had an open reading frame, thus potentially permitting the synthesis of a mu chain. Partial DJH rearrangements were detected in both CD34+ CD19+ and CD34+ CD19- subsets, although they were less abundant in the latter. When triple labeling was used to better characterize the CD34+ CD19- population, DJH rearrangements were found to be present in the CD34(+) CD10+ CD19- fraction, but not in the more primitive CD34+ CD10- CD19-. These results indicate that IgH gene rearrangements occur in CD34+ BM cells and that they initiate in immature progenitors expressing the CD10, but not yet the CD19 surface antigen. Finally, the presence of IgH gene rearrangements in CD34+ BM cells provides a useful marker of clonality to evaluate the possible involvement of these cells in various B-cell lymphoid malignancies.

Abstract
Human herpesvirus-8 (HHV-8), associated with Kaposi's sarcoma, primary effusion lymphoma, and Castleman's disease, has been found in circulating B-cells and might have a causative role in B-cell malignancies associated with immunodeficiency syndromes. We determined the rate of detection and intratumoral virus load of HHV-8 by means of a semiquantitative approach in post-transplant lymphoproliferative diseases (PTLDs), AIDS-related non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (NHLs), including both Burkitt's lymphomas (BLs) and large cell lymphomas (LCLs), as well as in control groups consisting of follicular hyperplasias (FHs) and HIV-negative LCLs. HHV-8 sequences were detected at a similar rate in HIV-negative PTLDs (24%), HIV-negative LCLs (22%) and HIV-negative FHs (17%). The detection rate was significantly higher in HIV-positive BLs (73%), HIV-positive LCLs (67%), and HIV-positive FHs (65%) supporting the view of an epidemiological link between HHV-8 and HIV infections. The viral load was 10(2) genome copies per cell in the single case of primary effusion lymphoma included in the LCL group while it was 10(-3) copy per cell (median value; range: 10(-4)-10(-1)) in all the other HHV-8-positive samples. No significant difference of viral load was found according to HIV status. The virus loads of PTLDs and HIV-positive LCLs were significantly higher than those observed in HIV-positive BLs and FHs, suggesting, to some extent, that the degree of immunodeficiency may influence HHV-8 replication. However, with the exception of the single case of primary effusion lymphoma studied, the low intratumoral load of HHV-8 strongly argues against a direct causative agent of the virus in the occurrence of PTLDs and AIDS-related NHLs.

Abstract
We describe a 32-year-old woman who presented with Hodgkin's disease, nodular sclerosis type II, subtype I, which necessitated several treatments over 11 years. The patient then developed pleomorphic, medium-sized T-cell lymphoma, which had a fatal outcome within 13 months. The role of radiotherapy, splenectomy, and chemotherapy in second tumor induction is compared with other sequential T-cell lymphomas. The significance of rare Epstein-Barr virus-infected cells during the T-cell lymphoma extension is discussed.

Abstract
Fifty-one cases of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS)-related primary brain lymphomas (AR-PBL) were investigated for clinical characteristics; human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-associated disorders; histopathologic features; immunophenotype; Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection; and, when frozen tissue was available, oncogene rearrangements. AR-PBL occurred late in the course of AIDS and were usually associated with other systemic or cerebral disorders and with a low level of CD4 lymphocytes. All cases were high grade lymphomas according to the Working Formulation or updated Kiel classification, and often displayed a multifocal pattern. Thirty cases were classified as immunoblastic with plasmacytic differentiation, 18 cases were large cell lymphomas with an immunoblastic component or centroblastic polymorphic lymphomas, and 2 were small noncleaved non-Burkitt lymphomas (Working Formulation). This latter category is classified as Burkitt's-like lymphoma in the REAL nomenclature. One case could not be classified because of necrosis. AR-PBL showed a high level expression of activation and adhesion molecules. The presence of EBV was detected in most cases, and, when PCR was used, this was a constant finding. bcl-2 oncoprotein and latent membrane protein-1 (LMP-1) were strongly expressed. None of the tested cases expressed p53, or were rearranged for bcl-2 or c-myc oncogenes. This study confirms the immunophenotypic specificity of AR-PBL, which may reflect the special immune status of the brain.

Abstract
In this review, we report analyses of VH genes in mature B cell malignancies generally or occasionally bearing CD5 antigen such as B CLL, MCL, SLVL and PLL. In the majority of cases, B CLL and MCL use VH genes in germline configuration. However in some cases a higher rate of random mutations is observed. These differences are not related to CD5 expression but are accounted by Ig phenotype, since less mutations are observed in CLL cases expressing membrane mu delta, when compared to forms exclusively expressing membrane mu. PLL and SLVL cases display mutated V genes independently of CD5 expression. Although there is some evidence that CD5+ B cells constitute a separate lineage, the possibility that CD5 constitutes an activation marker cannot be ruled out. Indeed, CD5- B cells can be induced to differentiate into CD5+ B cells and VH gene analyses showed no significative differences between CD5+ and CD5- B cell lymphoproliferative disorders. In this review we have tried to examine B cell chronic malignancies on the basis of phenotype and VH gene usage. Thus we propose a tentative classification where these disorders are allocated according to these characteristics.

Abstract
The new human herpes virus 8 (HHV8) was recently detected in cases of body cavity based lymphoma (BCBL), a rare B cell lymphoma, mostly AIDS-associated. We investigated for HHV8 DNA sequences a series of 250 B or T cell lymphoproliferative malignancies, as seen in France, including 126 leukemias and 124 lymphomas (232 non-AIDS-associated and 18 AIDS-associated tumors). HHV8 sequences were detected in only three patients. The first two were homosexual males, HIV-infected since 1985 who suffered from a BCBL initially characterized in one case by a pleural lymphomatous effusion and a peritoneal one in the other case. A high level of HHV8 copies was detected in the tumoral cells of these two BCBL. In contrast, in the third positive patient who had an AIDS-associated immunoblastic lymphoma, the HHV8 sequences level was quite low. In the two BCBL patients, the HHV8-infected clonal B cells had a large immunoblastic feature with an indeterminate phenotype and were also infected by Epstein-Barr virus. In one BCBL case, a semiquantitative PCR analysis revealed that the HHV8 sequences were much more abundant in the effusion tumor cells than in the cutaneous Kaposi's biopsy while no HHV8 sequence was detectable in the peripheral blood lymphocytes. This study reports HHV8-associated BCBL in European AIDS patients and confirms that HHV8 is present at a high copy number in the tumoral B cells of this malignancy. Furthermore, HHV8 does not seem to play a pathogenic role in any of the other T or B malignant lymphoid neoplasias studied so far. This study also stresses the necessity for quantification studies in interpretation of a positive PCR analysis for HHV8 sequences, especially in patients at risk for HIV infection or Kaposi's sarcoma.

Abstract
Prolymphocytic leukemia (PLL) is a chronic lymphoproliferative disorder, characterized by prominent splenomegaly, prolymphocytes accounting for more than 55% of circulating lymphocytes, and short-term survival. To better characterize the nature of the cellular origin in this disease, we analyzed lg heavy chain variable region (VH) genes in eleven cases of de novo PLL Leukemic cells expressed a skewed repertoire characterized by predominant use of the V3 family members (73%), with preferential use of the V3-23 gene (50% of the VH3 genes). All sequences from expressed VH genes diverged from their putative germline counterpart, and in eight cases the divergence was greater than 5%. In seven cases, which expressed the V3-23 gene and VH4 family members, nucleotide substitutions could be confidently attributed to somatic mutations. The type and distribution of these mutations clearly indicated that in three cases the cells had been subjected to an antigen selection process. Taken together, these results suggest that B-PLL cells display a skewed repertoire of lg VH regions and probably represent, at least in some instances, expansion of postgerminal center cells that have undergone antigen driven selection.

Abstract
A 56-year-old man with Sjögren's syndrome was found to have acute renal failure. Immunopathologic analysis of renal biopsy specimens showed polyclonal lymphocytic interstitial infiltration. DNA analysis of the T-cell receptor and the heavy chain immunoglobulin genes showed a polyclonal pattern of gene rearrangements. Renal failure caused by this pseudolymphoma regressed dramatically with steroid therapy. This is the first reported case of proven renal pseudolymphoma that regressed with steroid therapy.
