Abstract
The mass and width of the lowest-lying S-wave spin singlet charmonium state, the η(c), are measured using a data sample of 1.06×10(8) ψ(3686) decays collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. We use a model that incorporates full interference between the signal reaction, ψ(3686)→γη(c), and a nonresonant radiative background to describe the line shape of the η(c) successfully. We measure the η(c) mass to be 2984.3±0.6±0.6 MeV/c(2) and the total width to be 32.0±1.2±1.0 MeV, where the first errors are statistical and the second are systematic.

Abstract
The decays J/ψ → γ π+ π- π0 and J/ψ → γ π0 π0 π0 are analyzed using a sample of 225×10(6) J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector. The decay of η(1405) → f(0)(980)π0 with a large isospin violation is observed for the first time. The width of the f(0)(980) observed in the dipion mass spectra is anomalously narrower than the world average. Decay rates for three-pion decays of the η' are also measured precisely.

Abstract
A partial wave analysis of the pp¯ mass-threshold enhancement in the reaction J/ψ→γpp¯ is used to determine its J(PC) quantum numbers to be 0(-+), its peak mass to be below threshold at M=1832(-5)(+19)(stat)(-17)(+18)(syst)±19(model) MeV/c(2), and its total width to be Γ<76 MeV/c(2) at the 90% C.L. The product of branching ratios is measured to be BR[J/ψ→γX(pp¯)]BR[X(pp¯)→pp¯]=[9.0(-1.1)(+0.4)(stat)(-5.0)(+1.5)(syst)±2.3(model)]×10(-5). A similar analysis performed on ψ(3686)→γpp¯ decays shows, for the first time, the presence of a corresponding enhancement with a production rate relative to that for J/ψ decays of R=[5.08(-0.45)(+0.71)(stat)(-3.58)(+0.67)(syst)±0.12(model)]%.

Abstract
The pharmacokinetics of doxycycline were studied following a single intravenous (I.V.) and intramuscular (I.M.) injection of 10 mg/kg into eight healthy pigs. The steady-state tissue/plasma partition coefficients were obtained via a 3-h constant rate infusion (CRI) in four pigs. Based on the results of in vivo studies and the parameters derived from published work, a physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model was developed to predict the drug concentration in edible tissues. The predicted values were then compared with those derived from a previous study. To account for individual differences in the processes of drug metabolism and/or diffusion, a Monte Carlo (MC) run of 1000 simulations was incorporated into the PBPK model to predict the doxycycline residue withdrawal times in edible tissues in swine. The withdrawal periods were compared with those derived from linear regression analysis. The PBPK model presented here provided accurate predictions of the observed concentrations in all tissues except for the injection site. The withdrawal times in all edible tissues derived from the MC analysis were longer than those from linear regression analysis. Based on the residues in the injection site and muscle tissue, the MC analysis predicted a withdrawal time of 33 days. Here, we illustrate that MC analysis can be incorporated into the PBPK model to accurately predict doxycycline residue withdrawal time in edible tissues in swine.

Abstract
We present results of a study of the decay J/ψ → ωηπ+ π- using a sample of (225.2 ± 2.8) × 10(6) J/ψ events collected by the BESIII detector, and report the observation of a new process J/ψ → ωX(1870) with a statistical significance of 7.2σ, in which X(1870) decays to a(0)(±)(980)π±. Fitting to ηπ+ π- mass spectrum yields a mass M = 1877.3 ± 6.3(stat)(-7.4)(+3.4)(syst) MeV/c(2), a width Γ = 57 ± 12(stat)(-4)(+19)(syst) MeV/c(2), and a product branching fraction B(J/ψ → ωX) × B(X→a(0)(±)(980)π±) × B(a(0) (±)(980) → ηπ±) = [1.50 ± 0.26(stat)(-0.36)(+0.72) (syst)] × 10(-4). Signals for J/ψ → ωf(1)(1285) and J/ψ → ω η(1405) are also clearly observed and measured.

Abstract
Using (106±4)×10⁻⁶ ψ(3686) events accumulated with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII e⁺e⁻ collider, we present the first measurement of decays of χ(c1) to vector meson pairs φφ, ωω, and ωφ. The branching fractions are measured to be (4.4±0.3±0.5)×10⁻⁴, (6.0±0.3±0.7)×10⁻⁴, and (2.2±0.6±0.2)×10⁻⁵, for χ(c1)→φφ, ωω, and ωφ, respectively, which indicates that the hadron helicity selection rule is significantly violated in χ(cJ) decays. In addition, the measurement of χ(cJ)→ωφ provides the first indication of the rate of doubly OZI-suppressed χ(cJ) decay. Finally, we present improved measurements for the branching fractions of χ(c0) and χ(c2) to vector meson pairs.

Abstract
The dog leukocyte antigen (DLA) system contains many of the functional genes of the immune system, thereby making it a candidate region for involvement in immune-mediated disorders. A number of studies have identified associations between specific DLA class II haplotypes and canine immune hemolytic anemia, thyroiditis, immune polyarthritis, type I diabetes mellitus, hypoadrenocorticism, systemic lupus erythematosus-related disease complex, necrotizing meningoencephalitis (NME) and anal furunculosis. These studies have relied on sequencing approximately 300 bases of exon 2 of each of the DLA class II genes: DLA-DRB1, DLA-DQA1 and DLA-DQB1. In the present study, an association (odds ratio=4.29) was identified by this method between Weimaraner dogs with hypertrophic osteodystrophy (HOD) and DLA-DRB1∗01501. To fine map the association with HOD, a genotyping assay of 126 coding single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) from across the entire DLA, spanning a region of 2.5 Mb (3,320,000-5,830,000) on CFA12, was developed and tested on Weimaraners with HOD, as well as two additional breeds with diseases associated with DLA class II: Nova Scotia duck tolling retrievers with hypoadrenocorticism and Pug dogs with NME. No significant associations were found between Weimaraners with HOD or Nova Scotia duck tolling retrievers with hypoadrenocorticism and SNPs spanning the DLA region. In contrast, significant associations were found with NME in Pug dogs, although the associated region extended beyond the class II genes. By including a larger number of genes from a larger genomic region, a SNP genotyping assay was generated that provides coverage of the extended DLA region and may be useful in identifying and fine mapping DLA associations in dogs.

Abstract
With a sample of (225.2±2.8)×10(6) J/ψ events registered in the BESIII detector, J/ψ→γπ(+)π(-)η(') is studied using two η(') decay modes: η(')→π(+)π(-)η and η(')→γρ(0). The X(1835), which was previously observed by BESII, is confirmed with a statistical significance that is larger than 20σ. In addition, in the π(+)π(-)η(') invariant-mass spectrum, the X(2120) and the X(2370), are observed with statistical significances larger than 7.2σ and 6.4σ, respectively. For the X(1835), the angular distribution of the radiative photon is consistent with expectations for a pseudoscalar.

Abstract
The decays ψ'→γπ(0), γη and γη' are studied using data collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII e(+)e(-) collider. The processes ψ'→γπ(0) and ψ'→γη are observed for the first time with signal significances of 4.6σ and 4.3σ, respectively. The branching fractions are determined to be B(ψ'→γπ(0))=(1.58±0.40±0.13)×10(-6), B(ψ'→γη)=(1.38±0.48±0.09)×10(-6), and B(ψ'→γη')=(126±3±8)×10(-6), where the first errors are statistical and the second ones systematic.

Abstract
To investigate the associations of DNA methylation levels and mRNA expressions of DNA cytosine-5-methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1) and methyl CpG-binding domain 2 (MBD2) with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), 108 patients with SLE and 97 healthy controls were enrolled in this study. DNA and total RNA were extracted from the peripheral blood mononuclear cells of the SLE patients and the controls. The global methylation levels of DNA were measured in 63 patients with SLE and 68 healthy controls by the ELISA method. DNMT1 and MBD2 mRNA were also detected in 108 SLE patients and 97 controls using the quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction method. The global methylation level of DNA was significantly decreased in the SLE patients in comparison with that in the controls ( p < 0.001, 95% CI = 0.1573–0.5052). The patients with SLE have higher expressions of DNMT1 and MBD2 mRNA than the controls ( p < 0.001, 95% CI = −0.0049 – −0.0019 and p = 0.001, 95% CI = −0.0119 – −0.0029, respectively). We also found that there were no significant differences in the methylation level and the expression of DNMT1 and MBD2 mRNA between the active and the inactive SLE patients. A positive correlation was also found between DNMT1 and MBD2 mRNA expressions in the SLE patients ( p < 0.001). This study demonstrated that the patients with SLE had a significantly lower level of DNA methylation than the controls. The expression of both DNMT1 and MBD2 mRNA was significantly increased in the SLE patients compared with the controls. This study also showed a positive correlation between DNMT1 and MBD2 mRNA levels in the patients with SLE.

Abstract
It has been shown that 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) is the immediate precursor of ethylene, which is derived from C-2 and C-3 of ACC. When [1-(14)C]ACC was administered to etiolated mungbean (Vigna radiata) hypocotyls, approximately 16% of the ACC was converted to ethylene and about 10% of the radioactivity was converted to [(14)C]asparagine in 7 hr. In etiolated epicotyls of common vetch (Vicia sativa), after 7 hr about 14% of the ACC was converted to ethylene and 16% of the radioactivity was converted to beta-cyanoalanine plus gamma-glutamyl-beta-cyanoalanine. Itis known that in most plants cyanide is metabolized to asparagine via the intermediate beta-cyanoalanine, whereas in a fewplants such as V. sativa, beta-cyanoalanine is converted to the conjugate gamma-glutamyl-beta-cyanoalanine. We confirmed that [(14)C]cyanide was metabolized into [(14)C]asparagine in mungbean and into [(14)C]cyanoalanine plus its conjugate in V. sativa. Moreover, after feeding plant tissue with [1-(14)C]ACC, [(14)C]asparagine isolated from mungbean and beta-[(14)C]cyanoalanine from V. sativa were labeled in the C-4 position, as would be expected if these two compounds were derived from [(14)C]cyanide. When the conversion of ACC to ethylene in V. sativa tissue was inhibited by high temperature (41 degrees C), the conversion of [1-(14)C]ACC to beta-[(14)C]cyanoalanine and gamma-glutamyl-beta-[(14)C]cyanoalanine was similarly inhibited. When [carboxyl-(14)C]ACC was administered to mungbean and V. sativa, (14)CO(2) was recovered in an amount equivalent to the amount of ethylene produced. These data indicate that in the conversion of ACC to ethylene the carboxyl group yields CO(2), and C-1 is released as HCN.

Abstract
We present measurements of the charmonium state h(c)(1P(1)) made with 106x10(6) psi' events collected by BESIII at BEPCII. Clear signals are observed for psi'-->pi0 h(c) with and without the subsequent radiative decay h(c)-->gamma eta(c). First measurements of the absolute branching ratios B(psi'-->pi0 h(c)) = (8.4+/-1.3+/-1.0) x 10(-4) and B(h(c)-->gamma eta(c)) = (54.3+/-6.7+/-5.2)% are presented. A statistics-limited determination of the previously unmeasured h(c) width leads to an upper limit Gamma(h(c))<1.44 MeV (90% confidence). Measurements of M(h(c)) = 3525.40+/-0.13+/-0.18 MeV/c2 and B(psi'-->pi0 h(c)) x B(h(c)-->gamma eta(c)) = (4.58+/-0.40+/-0.50) x 10(-4) are consistent with previous results.

Abstract
With the aim of investigating the role of suppressor of cytokine signaling 1 (SOCS1) in the pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus, 107 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, 101 healthy controls, and 151 patients with ankylosing spondylitis were enrolled in this study. SOCS1 mRNA level was measured by the method of quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. SOCS1 polymorphisms were detected by the polymerase chain reaction/restriction fragment length polymorphisms method. Systemic lupus erythematosus disease activity was evaluated with the SLEDAI. This study showed that the SOCS1 mRNA expression was significantly higher in the patients with systemic lupus erythematosus than in the healthy controls (p = 0.0014). Patients with active systemic lupus erythematosus had a higher expression of SOCS1 mRNA than the patients with inactive systemic lupus erythematosus (p = 0.035). There was no significant difference in the frequencies of the SOCS1-1478CA/del polymorphisms among the patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, healthy controls, and patients with ankylosing spondylitis. The genotype frequency of the SOCS1-1478 polymorphisms in the dominant model (CA/del+del/del versus CA/CA) was significantly decreased in the patients with thrombocytopenia compared with those without thrombocytopenia (p(c) = 0.035). Moreover, the allele frequency of SOCS1-1478del was also significantly lower in the patients with thrombocytopenia than in those without thrombocytopenia (p( c) = 0.02). In conclusion, this study demonstrated that the expression of SOCS1 mRNA was significantly increased in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. Moreover, SOCS1 mRNA levels in patients with active systemic lupus erythematosus were significantly higher than those in the inactive patients. We also found that the systemic lupus erythematosus patients with thrombocytopenia have a lower frequency of SOCS1-1478del compared with patients without thrombocytopenia.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the associations of cytochrome p450 1A1 (CYP1A1) gene polymorphisms with susceptibility to psoriatic arthritis in Taiwan. METHODS CYP1A1 gene polymorphisms were determined in 52 patients with psoriatic arthritis and in 90 healthy controls by polymerase chain reaction/restriction fragment length polymorphism. RESULTS The genotype frequency of CYP1A1 4889A/G was significantly increased in patients with psoriatic arthritis in comparison with healthy controls. The phenotype frequency of CYP1A1 4889G was also significantly increased in patients with psoriatic arthritis. The genotype frequency of CYP1A1 4887C/A was significantly higher in patients with psoriatic arthritis than in controls. The allele and phenotype frequencies of 4887A were also significantly increased in patients with psoriatic arthritis. We also found that the association of CYP1A1 4887A with psoriatic arthritis was independent of 4889G but a synergistic effect was present between CYP1A1 4887A and 4889G. The CYP1A1 4889A/G and 4887C/A polymorphisms were not associated with the manifestations and severity of psoriatic arthritis. CONCLUSION CYP1A1 4887A and 4889G may be precipitating factors for susceptibility to psoriatic arthritis in Taiwan. An additive effect was found between CYP1A1 4887A and 4889G.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Tissue-engineered solutions for promoting the tendon graft incorporation within the bone tunnel appear to be promising. HYPOTHESIS To determine the feasibility that conjugation of hyaluronic acid-tethered bone morphogenetic protein-2 can be used to stimulate periosteal progenitor cells direct fibrocartilagenous attachment and new bone formation in an extra-articular tendon-bone healing model. STUDY DESIGN Controlled laboratory study. METHODS A total of 42 mature New Zealand White rabbits were used. The long digitorum extensor tendon was transplanted into a bone tunnel of the proximal tibia. The tendon was pulled through a drill hole in the proximal tibia and attached to the medial aspect of the tibia. Photopolymerizable hydrogel based on poly (ethylene glycol) diacrylate with hyaluronic acid-tethered bone morphogenetic protein-2 was injected and photogelated in a bone tunnel. Histological and biomechanical examination of the tendon-bone interface was evaluated at postoperative weeks 3 and 6. RESULTS Histological analysis showed an interface fibrocartilage and new bone formed by photoencapsulation of bone morphogenetic protein-2 and periosteal progenitor cells at 6 weeks. Biomechanical testing revealed higher maximum pullout strength and stiffness in experimental groups with a statistically significant difference at 3 and 6 weeks after tendon transplantation. CONCLUSION The healing tendon-bone interface undergoes a gradual remodeling process; it appears that photoencapsulation of bone morphogenetic protein-2 and periosteal progenitor cells possesses a powerful inductive ability between the tendon and the bone to incorporate the healing in a rabbit model. CLINICAL RELEVANCE Novel technologies, such as those described in this study, including photopolymerization and tissue engineering, may provide minimally invasive therapeutic procedures via arthroscopy to enhance biological healing after reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament.

Abstract
We describe a biomimetic mode of insoluble signaling stimulation to provide target delivery of bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2), with the aim of prolonging the retention of BMP-2 use in bone tissue engineering and to enable its localized release in response to cellular activity. In our novel localization process, we used heterobifunctional acrylate-N-hydroxysuccinimide poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) as a spacer to tether BMP-2 onto a poly(lactide-co-glycolide) scaffold. Use of PEG-tethered BMP-2 was feasible because BMP-2 retained its activity after covalent conjugation. The PEG-tethered BMP-2 conjugate sustained stimulation and retained its mitogenic activity, notably affecting pluripotent stem cell proliferation and differentiation. We seeded the scaffolds with bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells as progenitor cells to evaluate their morphology and phenotypic expression. We also created bilateral, full-thickness cranial defects in rabbits to investigate the osteogenic effect of cultured mesenchymal stromal cells on bone regeneration in vivo. Histomorphometry and histology demonstrated that the PEG-tethered BMP-2 conjugate enhanced de novo bone formation after surgery. Our work revealed the potential for biomimetic surface engineering by entrapping signaling growth factor to stimulate osteogenesis. Our technique may provide a new platform for bone-engineered stem cell therapies.

Abstract
We propose a model of artificial juxtacrine signaling for the controlled release of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) suitable for guided bone regeneration. A porous three-dimensional scaffold of poly-(lactide-co-glycolide) was fabricated by means of gel molding and particulate leaching. Collagen immobilization onto the scaffold surface was produced by performing photo-induced graft polymerization of acrylic acid, and rhBMP-2 was tethered to the collagenous surface by covalent conjugation. On pharmacokinetic analysis, in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent and alkaline phosphatase assays revealed sustained, slow release of rhBMP-2 over 28 days, with a cumulative release of one third of the initial load diffusing out of the scaffold. Conjugation of rhBMP-2 inhibited the free lateral diffusion and internalization of the activated complex of rhBMP-2 and the bone morphogenetic protein receptor. Osteoprogenitor cells were used as bone precursors to determine the expression of biosignaling growth factor in regulating cell proliferation and differentiation. To identify the phenotype of cells seeded on the rhBMP-2-conjugated scaffold, cellular activity was evaluated with scanning electron microscopy and with viability, histological, and immunohistochemical testing. The rhBMP-2-conjugated scaffold prolonged stimulation of intracellular signal proteins in cells. Enhancement of cell growth and differentiation was considered a consequence of juxtacrine signaling transduction. Animal studies of rhBMP-2-containing filling implants showed evidence of resorption and de novo bone formation. The present study revealed the potential of biomimetic constructs with co-immobilized adhesion and growth factors to induce osteoinduction and osteogenesis. Such constructs may be useful as synthetic bone-graft materials in orthopaedic tissue engineering.

Abstract
We report on nonadiabatic transport through a double quantum dot under irradiation of surface acoustic waves generated on chip. At low excitation powers, absorption and emission of single and multiple phonons are observed. At higher power, sequential phonon assisted tunneling processes excite the double dot in a highly nonequilibrium state. The present system is attractive for studying electron-phonon interaction with piezoelectric coupling.

Abstract
Hexagonal single-crystal AlN nanowires with straight or zigzag morphologies were successfully synthesized by the reaction of aluminum alloy in an ammonia/nitrogen atmosphere at 1100 degrees C. It is found that the crystal tropism of the nanowires is along [0001], whereas the growth directions of the zigzag nanowires shift between [2111] and [2111].

Abstract
Reversible valence tautomeric conversion induced by a single-shot laser pulse (8 ns duration) with a photon excitation energy of 2.38 eV has been observed in Na0.36Co1.32Fe(CN)(6).5.6H(2)O. A photoswitching process with accompanying magnetization and color changes was successfully achieved within the pulse duration at high temperature (above 200 K) in a thermal hysteresis loop. This unusual photoeffect originates from an optical charge transfer between Fe and Co atoms and evolves due to a cooperative interaction among the local photoexcited sites.

Abstract
The super blue box recycling (SUBBOR) process is an enhanced, multi-stage anaerobic digestion process for mixed municipal solid waste (MSW) and other biomass feedstock materials. The technology centers on enhanced high solids, thermophilic digestion after steam-pressure disruption of the ligno-cellulosic fiber components that are recalcitrant to conventional anaerobic digestion. Mixed MSW, rich in organic components but also containing inorganic materials, such as glass, aluminum and steel, as well as non-digestible plastic materials, has been laboratory pilot tested with a fully integrated process train designed to treat and recycle all of the MSW components. Methane yields from the MSW were 0.36 m3 CH4/kg volatile solids (VS) representing a 40% increase over the yield obtained from conventional single stage digestion. The secondary digestion step after steam pressure disruption also provided a 40% improvement in total solids and VS reduction. The residual organic fraction following two-stage digestion was fine in texture and was recovered as a clean peat fraction with reduced contents of heavy metal and other fugitive non-digested contaminants. Mass and energy balance determinations indicated a high degree of MSW diversion from landfill disposal (>80%) was achievable by the SUBBOR process as well as substantial net electrical and thermal energy production. Continuous long-term trials of the SUBBOR process at 25,000 tonnes/year are underway.

Abstract
A new anti-neoplastic spirostanol saponin, (25S)-spirost-5-en-3 beta, 27-diol-3O-[alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1-->2)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl (1-->3)]-beta-D-glucopyranoside and three known compounds viz. prosapogenin A of dioscin, dioscin and gracilin were isolated from Dioscorea futschauensis by bioactivity-guided fractionation. Their structures were elucidated mainly by means of spectroscopic analysis. Their bioactivity against Pyricularia oryzae and cytotoxic activity on ts-FT210 cell line was evaluated.

Abstract
Bloodletting acupuncture is one of the most classic methods of acupuncture therapy, and is still popularly used to treat acute lumbar sprain in the oriental world. However, most physicians in the western world are not familiar with bloodletting acupuncture, though they may know ordinary acupuncture well. Furthermore based on the literature reviewed, there have been few studies which have investigated the effect of bloodletting acupuncture upon acute lumbar sprain. In this study, we tried to determine if bloodletting acupuncture is effective for acute lumbar sprain. In total, twelve patients were enrolled for analysis. Five patients were treated with ordinary acupuncture upon the contralateral SI-3 (Hou-Hsi) point alone. Seven patients were first treated with bloodletting acupuncture to the engorged vein around the ipisilateral Bl-40 (Wei-Chung), and then followed by ordinary acupuncture upon the contralateral SI-3. It was demonstrated that bloodletting acupuncture to the engorged vein around the ipisilateral Bl-40 followed by ordinary acupuncture upon the contralateral SI-3 had more pain relief than ordinary acupuncture upon the contralateral SI-3 alone (83 +/- 23% vs. 44 +/- 28%) (P < 0.01). And bloodletting acupuncture to the engorged vein around the ipisilateral Bl-40 decreased pain by 56 +/- 23%, similar to that of ordinary acupuncture upon the contralateral SI-3 alone (44 +/- 28%). These findings suggest that bloodletting acupuncture to the engorged vein around the ipisilateral Bl-40 (Wei-Chung) has a substantial contribution for treatment of acute lumbar sprain.

Abstract
Reperfusion of ischemic liver results in the generation of oxygen radicals, nitric oxide (NO) and their reaction product peroxynitrite, all of which may cause strand breaks in DNA, which activate the nuclear enzyme poly(ADP ribose)synthase (PARS). This results in rapid depletion of intracellular nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide and adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP) and eventually induces irreversible cytotoxicity. In this study, we demonstrated that niacinamide, a PARS inhibitor, attenuated ischemia/reperfusion (I/R)-induced liver injury. Ischemia was induced by clamping the common hepatic artery and portal vein of rats for 40 min. Thereafter, flow was restored and the liver was reperfused for 90 min. Blood samples collected prior to I and after R were analyzed for methyl guanidine (MG), NO, tumor necrosis factor (TNF-alpha) and ATP. Blood levels of aspartate transferase (AST), alanine transferase (ALT) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) which served as indexes of liver injury were measured. This protocol resulted in elevation of the blood NO level (p < 0.01). Inflammation was apparent, as TNF-alpha and MG levels were significantly increased (p < 0.05 and p < 0.001). AST, ALT and LDH were elevated 4- to 5-fold (p < 0.001), while ATP was significantly diminished (p < 0.01). After administration of niacinamide (10 mM), liver injury was significantly attenuated, while blood ATP content was reversed. In addition, MG, TNF-alpha and NO release was attenuated. These results indicate that niacinamide, presumably by acting with multiple functions, exerts potent anti-inflammatory effects in I/R-induced liver injury.
