Abstract
Thrombospondin-2 (TSP-2) is an important extracellular matrix protein that is involved in a variety of cardiovascular diseases, including viral myocarditis and abdominal aortic aneurysm. The present study aimed to investigate TSP-2 expression in patients with aortic dissection (AD). Aortas were obtained from patients with AD and healthy donors, and TSP-2 expression level in all samples was measured by western blotting and immunofluorescence assays. Blood samples were also collected from patients with AD and non-AD (NAD) subjects. Circulating TSP-2, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and interleukin (IL)-6 levels in each sample were detected using ELISAs. In addition, the effect of TSP-2 on angiotensin II (Ang II)-induced smooth muscle cell (SMC) apoptosis was assessed in vitro. Compared with healthy donors, aortic TSP-2 expression level was significantly increased in patients with AD. Furthermore, TSP-2 was secreted primarily by SMCs, but also by endothelial cells. TSP-2 plasma expression level was also elevated in patients with AD compared with non-AD subjects. Furthermore, TSP-2 serum expression level was positively correlated with TNF-α and IL-6 expression levels in patients with AD. In addition, recombinant mouse TSP-2 treatment increased Bax mRNA expression and decreased Bcl2 mRNA expression in Ang II-treated SMCs; however, the effects were reversed following treatment with the NF-κB p65 signaling pathway inhibitor JSH-23 or with the anti-TNF-α and anti-IL-6 neutralizing antibodies. The present study demonstrated that TSP-2 expression was increased in the aortic tissues and plasma of patients with AD. These findings suggested that TSP-2 may participate in the progression of AD by activating the NF-κB p65 signaling pathway and amplifying the inflammatory response.

Abstract
Surface magnetism and its correlation with the electronic structure are critical to understanding the topological surface state in the intrinsic magnetic topological insulator MnBi_{2}Te_{4}. Here, using static and time resolved angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), we find a significant ARPES intensity change together with a gap opening on a Rashba-like conduction band. Comparison with a model simulation strongly indicates that the surface magnetism on cleaved MnBi_{2}Te_{4} is the same as its bulk state. The inability of surface ferromagnetism to open a gap in the topological surface state uncovers the novel complexity of MnBi_{2}Te_{4} that may be responsible for the low quantum anomalous Hall temperature of exfoliated MnBi_{2}Te_{4}.

Abstract
On May 21, 2019 at 03:02:29 UTC Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo observed a short duration gravitational-wave signal, GW190521, with a three-detector network signal-to-noise ratio of 14.7, and an estimated false-alarm rate of 1 in 4900 yr using a search sensitive to generic transients. If GW190521 is from a quasicircular binary inspiral, then the detected signal is consistent with the merger of two black holes with masses of 85_{-14}^{+21} M_{⊙} and 66_{-18}^{+17} M_{⊙} (90% credible intervals). We infer that the primary black hole mass lies within the gap produced by (pulsational) pair-instability supernova processes, with only a 0.32% probability of being below 65 M_{⊙}. We calculate the mass of the remnant to be 142_{-16}^{+28} M_{⊙}, which can be considered an intermediate mass black hole (IMBH). The luminosity distance of the source is 5.3_{-2.6}^{+2.4} Gpc, corresponding to a redshift of 0.82_{-0.34}^{+0.28}. The inferred rate of mergers similar to GW190521 is 0.13_{-0.11}^{+0.30} Gpc^{-3} yr^{-1}.

Abstract
Neutrons are valuable probes for various material samples across many areas of research. Neutron imaging typically has a spatial resolution of larger than 20 µm, whereas neutron scattering is sensitive to smaller features but does not provide a real-space image of the sample. A computed-tomography technique is demonstrated that uses neutron-scattering data to generate an image of a periodic sample with a spatial resolution of ∼300 nm. The achieved resolution is over an order of magnitude smaller than the resolution of other forms of neutron tomography. This method consists of measuring neutron diffraction using a double-crystal diffractometer as a function of sample rotation and then using a phase-retrieval algorithm followed by tomographic reconstruction to generate a map of the sample's scattering-length density. Topological features found in the reconstructions are confirmed with scanning electron micrographs. This technique should be applicable to any sample that generates clear neutron-diffraction patterns, including nanofabricated samples, biological membranes and magnetic materials, such as skyrmion lattices.

Abstract
Aim: This study sought to investigate the relationship between galectin-3 (Gal-3), myocardial fibrosis (MF) and outcomes in acute heart failure. Materials & methods: The single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of LGALS3 at rs4644 and rs4652, plasma Gal-3 level, MF and major adverse events (MAEs) were obtained. Results: There was no significant difference in MAEs when categorizing patients by the LGALS3 SNPs at rs4644 and rs4652. The circulating Gal-3 was related to the degree of MF (p < 0.001). Plasma Gal-3 level and MF can predict an increased risk of MAEs (p < 0.001, p = 0.023, respectively). Conclusion: Not the SNPs of LGALS3 but Gal-3 and MF can predict MAEs in acute heart failure at 1 year of follow-up.

Abstract
Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is the consequence of obstruction of retinal vein system caused by a variety of etiologies. Its ocular complications include macular edema, retinal ischemia and neovascular glaucoma. Although many drugs for management of RVO are available, some doctors do not fully understand the exact purpose of each treatment. This article starts from the etiology evaluation of RVO, emphasizing that, besides systemic etiology and risk factor management, the treatment of RVO should focus on the three major complications at the same time, rather than just dealing with macular edema. Meanwhile, a regular follow-up for observing the changes of the degree of retinal ischemia is important for whole course management. Anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapy, the first-line treatment option of RVO, can not only reduce macular edema, but also prevent the complications caused by retinal ischemia and create opportunities for further laser photocoagulation. Laser photocoagulation has an irreplaceable value in the comprehensive treatment of ischemic RVO. Glucocorticoid intraocular implants should not be used alone in the treatment of macular edema secondary to RVO. (Chin J Ophthalmol, 2020, 56:246-249).

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of triamcinolone acetonide deep fornix injection for the treatment of upper eyelid retraction caused by thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO). Methods: Case-control study. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 64 eyes in 53 patients with upper eyelid retraction caused by TAO from October 2015 to December 2018. Thirty-nine eyes in 33 patients diagnosed with TAO with upper eyelid retraction were treated with triamcinolone acetonide deep fornix injection (20 mg), once per month until the therapeutic effect was stable, as the treatment group. Twenty-five eyes in 20 patients were not treated (the observation group). The ocular examination indexes of the two groups were compared. Paired t-test and independent sample t-test were used for statistical analysis. Results: There were 6 males and 27 females in the treatment group, aged (43±12) years, and 5 males and 15 females in the observation group, aged (40±13) years. There was no significant difference in gender, age, history and baseline ocular examination indexes between the two groups (all P>0.05). In the treatment group, the number of injections was (2.18±0.94) times (range, 1 to 5 times). After (6.74±3.89) months of follow-up, the marginal reflex distance (MRD1) was reduced from (6.85±0.88) mm to (4.38±1.04) mm, the score of quality of life in thyroid eye disease (TED-QOL) was reduced from 22.03±4.33 to 7.91±3.25, and the clinical activity score (CAS) was reduced from 2.82±0.39 to 0.97±0.39 (t=14.68, 21.36, 20.92; all P<0.01). There was no statistically significant difference in the degree of exophthalmos, intraocular pressure, the diameter of the rectus muscle measured by B-ultrasound before and after treatment (all P>0.05). After (8.65±5.15) months of follow-up, the eyelid retraction also improved in the observation group, but the improvement was more obvious in the treatment group. The differences of MRD1, TED-QOL and CAS before and after treatment in the treatment group were (2.46±1.05) mm, 14.06±3.80 and 1.85±0.51 respectively, which were significantly higher than those before and after the follow-up in the observation group [(0.32±0.75) mm, 3.24±2.86 and 0.56±0.58, respectively; t=8.86, 11.90, 8.98; all P<0.01]. There was no recurrence in the two groups. In the treatment group, 5 patients (6 eyes) showed a transient intraocular pressure rise, which was controlled after medication; 3 women had menstrual changes. Conclusions: Deep fornix injection of triamcinolone acetonide for treating upper eyelid retraction is convenient and effective. It can significantly reduce symptoms and improve patients' quality of life. (Chin J Ophthalmol, 2020, 56:524-529).

Abstract
The discovery of charge-density-wave-related effects in the resonant inelastic x-ray scattering spectra of cuprates holds the tantalizing promise of clarifying the interactions that stabilize the electronic order. Here, we report a comprehensive resonant inelastic x-ray scattering study of La_{2-x}Sr_{x}CuO_{4} finding that charge-density wave effects persist up to a remarkably high doping level of x=0.21 before disappearing at x=0.25. The inelastic excitation spectra remain essentially unchanged with doping despite crossing a topological transition in the Fermi surface. This indicates that the spectra contain little or no direct coupling to electronic excitations near the Fermi surface, rather they are dominated by the resonant cross section for phonons and charge-density-wave-induced phonon softening. We interpret our results in terms of a charge-density wave that is generated by strong correlations and a phonon response that is driven by the charge-density-wave-induced modification of the lattice.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Long-term morbidity and mortality of patients with ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) after primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) remain substantial. Circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) play an important role in cardiovascular disease development. We aimed to identify circulating miRNAs associated with adverse cardiovascular events after acute myocardial infarction (AMI). METHODS We performed a prospective, nested, case-control study of 932 patients with STEMI who underwent primary PCI. A 3-phase approach was conducted to screen candidate circulating miRNAs in 70 patients who subsequently experienced cardiac death, hospitalization for heart failure, or recurrent AMI (major adverse cardiovascular events [MACE] group) and in 140 patients matched for age, sex, time from symptom onset to blood collection and dual-antiplatelet therapy who did not report adverse cardiovascular events during 2-year follow-up (non-MACE group). RESULTS We found that miR-26a-5p, miR-21-5p, and miR-191-5p levels were lower in the MACE group than in the non-MACE group (all P < 0.001). Multivariate conditional logistic regression analysis revealed that miR-26a-5p, miR-21-5p, and miR-191-5p levels were significantly inversely associated with incident primary composite outcomes (all adjusted P < 0.01). Importantly, the combination of these 3 miRNAs plus B-type natriuretic peptide clearly improved the risk scores recommended in the current guidelines, as determined with the use of C-statistics, net reclassification, and integrated discrimination. CONCLUSIONS Our study provides proof-of-concept in humans that circulating miRNAs are associated with increased rates of distinct cardiovascular events, suggesting that they can serve as effective prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets for patients with AMI.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Interleukin-19 (IL-19) has been shown to be involved in coronary artery diseases and atherosclerosis, while its expression in myocardial infarction is poorly understood. In this study, the dynamic increase in circulating IL-19 in acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients was detected. METHOD Both plasma IL-19 levels and IL-19 mRNA expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from STEMI patients and chest pain syndrome (CPS) patients were detected at different time points, including 1 d, 3 d, 7 d and 14 d after treatment and on admission. RESULTS Compared with the CPS patients, IL-19 levels and IL-19 gene expression were significantly increased in STEMI patients and peaked at 1 d. From 1-14 d, refocusing treatment, including emergency percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and thrombolysis, markedly reduced IL-19 expression and promoted its recovery; of the treatments, the effect of emergency PCI was most significant. In addition, similar trends were also observed with cTnI, NT-proBNP and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels. Furthermore, correlation analysis showed that IL-19 levels were positively correlated with cTnI, NT-proBNP, CRP levels and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) in STEMI patients. CONCLUSIONS IL-19 is correlated with the severity of acute myocardial infarction, which may be a new idea for the clinical treatment of myocardial infarction.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of GREM1 on the sensitivity of cervical squamous carcinoma cells to radiotherapy and chemotherapy. PATIENTS AND METHODS The resected cancer tissues and paracancerous tissues of patients with cervical carcinoma were collected. The expressions of GREM1 protein and mRNA in SiHa cell line of cervical squamous carcinoma were tested by Western blot and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The effect of GREM1 on chemotherapy sensitivity of SiHa cells was tested by MTT assay. SiHa cells were irradiated with different doses of X-ray, and the changing trend of GREM1 in cell lines was observed. RESULTS Compared with paracancerous tissues, the expression level of GREM1 in cervical squamous carcinoma was significantly higher than that in paracancerous tissues (p<0.05). After adding different concentrations of chemotherapeutic drugs, the relative survival rate of SiHa cells overexpressing GREM1 group was significantly increased. After high-energy X-ray irradiation with different radiation doses of SiHa cells, the expression levels of GREM1mRNA and protein in SiHa cell lines showed a significant downward trend. GREM1 was highly expressed in cervical squamous carcinoma. CONCLUSIONS Down-regulating GREM1 expression can increase the chemotherapy sensitivity of SiHa cells. GREM1 may be related to the radiotherapy sensitivity of cervical squamous carcinoma.

Prospects for observing and localizing gravitational-wave transients with Advanced LIGO, Advanced Virgo and KAGRA. LIVING REVIEWS IN RELATIVITY 2020; 23:3. Abstract
We present our current best estimate of the plausible observing scenarios for the Advanced LIGO, Advanced Virgo and KAGRA gravitational-wave detectors over the next several years, with the intention of providing information to facilitate planning for multi-messenger astronomy with gravitational waves. We estimate the sensitivity of the network to transient gravitational-wave signals for the third (O3), fourth (O4) and fifth observing (O5) runs, including the planned upgrades of the Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo detectors. We study the capability of the network to determine the sky location of the source for gravitational-wave signals from the inspiral of binary systems of compact objects, that is binary neutron star, neutron star-black hole, and binary black hole systems. The ability to localize the sources is given as a sky-area probability, luminosity distance, and comoving volume. The median sky localization area (90% credible region) is expected to be a few hundreds of square degrees for all types of binary systems during O3 with the Advanced LIGO and Virgo (HLV) network. The median sky localization area will improve to a few tens of square degrees during O4 with the Advanced LIGO, Virgo, and KAGRA (HLVK) network. During O3, the median localization volume (90% credible region) is expected to be on the order of 10 5 , 10 6 , 10 7 Mpc 3 for binary neutron star, neutron star-black hole, and binary black hole systems, respectively. The localization volume in O4 is expected to be about a factor two smaller than in O3. We predict a detection count of 1 - 1 + 12 ( 10 - 10 + 52 ) for binary neutron star mergers, of 0 - 0 + 19 ( 1 - 1 + 91 ) for neutron star-black hole mergers, and 17 - 11 + 22 ( 79 - 44 + 89 ) for binary black hole mergers in a one-calendar-year observing run of the HLV network during O3 (HLVK network during O4). We evaluate sensitivity and localization expectations for unmodeled signal searches, including the search for intermediate mass black hole binary mergers.

Abstract
While condensed matter systems host both fermionic and bosonic quasiparticles, reliably predicting and empirically verifying topological states is only mature for Fermionic electronic structures, leaving topological Bosonic excitations sporadically explored. This is unfortunate, as Bosonic systems such as phonons offer the opportunity to assess spinless band structures where nodal lines can be realized without invoking special additional symetries to protect against spin-orbit coupling. Here we combine first-principles calculations and meV-resolution inelastic x-ray scattering to demonstrate the first realization of parity-time reversal symmetry protected helical nodal lines in the phonon spectrum of MoB_{2}. This structure is unique to phononic systems as the spin-orbit coupling present in electronic systems tends to lift the degeneracy away from high-symmetry locations. Our study establishes a protocol to accurately identify topological Bosonic excitations, opening a new route to explore exotic topological states in crystalline materials.

Abstract
We present a search for subsolar mass ultracompact objects in data obtained during Advanced LIGO's second observing run. In contrast to a previous search of Advanced LIGO data from the first observing run, this search includes the effects of component spin on the gravitational waveform. We identify no viable gravitational-wave candidates consistent with subsolar mass ultracompact binaries with at least one component between 0.2 M_{⊙}-1.0 M_{⊙}. We use the null result to constrain the binary merger rate of (0.2 M_{⊙}, 0.2 M_{⊙}) binaries to be less than 3.7×10^{5} Gpc^{-3} yr^{-1} and the binary merger rate of (1.0 M_{⊙}, 1.0 M_{⊙}) binaries to be less than 5.2×10^{3} Gpc^{-3} yr^{-1}. Subsolar mass ultracompact objects are not expected to form via known stellar evolution channels, though it has been suggested that primordial density fluctuations or particle dark matter with cooling mechanisms and/or nuclear interactions could form black holes with subsolar masses. Assuming a particular primordial black hole (PBH) formation model, we constrain a population of merging 0.2 M_{⊙} black holes to account for less than 16% of the dark matter density and a population of merging 1.0 M_{⊙} black holes to account for less than 2% of the dark matter density. We discuss how constraints on the merger rate and dark matter fraction may be extended to arbitrary black hole population models that predict subsolar mass binaries.

Abstract
Multifilamentary Bi2Sr2CaCu2Ox (Bi-2212) wire made by the powder-in-tube technique is the only high temperature superconductor made in the round shape preferred by magnet builders. The critical current density (J C ) of Bi-2212 round wire was improved significantly by the development of overpressure heat treatment in the past few years. Bi-2212 wire is commercially available in multiple architectures and kilometer-long pieces and a very promising conductor for very high field NMR and accelerator magnets. We studied the effects of precursor powder and heat treatment conditions on the superconducting properties and microstructure of recent Bi-2212 wires. Short samples of recent wire with optimized overpressure processing showed J C (4.2 K, 15 T) = 6640 A/mm2 and J C (4.2 K, 30 T) = 4670 A/mm2, which correspond to engineering critical current densities J E (4.2 K, 15 T) = 1320 A/mm2 and J E (4.2 K, 30 T) = 930 A/mm2.

Abstract
The recent discovery by Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo of a gravitational wave signal from a binary neutron star inspiral has enabled tests of general relativity (GR) with this new type of source. This source, for the first time, permits tests of strong-field dynamics of compact binaries in the presence of matter. In this Letter, we place constraints on the dipole radiation and possible deviations from GR in the post-Newtonian coefficients that govern the inspiral regime. Bounds on modified dispersion of gravitational waves are obtained; in combination with information from the observed electromagnetic counterpart we can also constrain effects due to large extra dimensions. Finally, the polarization content of the gravitational wave signal is studied. The results of all tests performed here show good agreement with GR.

Abstract
Although CDW correlations are a ubiquitous feature of the superconducting cuprates, their disparate properties suggest a crucial role for pinning the CDW to the lattice. Here, we report coherent resonant X-ray speckle correlation analysis, which directly determines the reproducibility of CDW domain patterns in La1.875Ba0.125CuO4 (LBCO 1/8) with thermal cycling. While CDW order is only observed below 54 K, where a structural phase transition creates inequivalent Cu-O bonds, we discover remarkably reproducible CDW domain memory upon repeated cycling to far higher temperatures. That memory is only lost on cycling to 240(3) K, which recovers the four-fold symmetry of the CuO2 planes. We infer that the structural features that develop below 240 K determine the CDW pinning landscape below 54 K. This opens a view into the complex coupling between charge and lattice degrees of freedom in superconducting cuprates.

Abstract
Abstract
Recently, with the development and application of full-scope level 2 probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) method around the world, severe accident phenomena during shutdown and low power conditions have aroused extensive attention in nuclear industry. And the shutdown severe accident management guideline (SSAMG) is claimed to be developed, and the verification of the traditional and alternative entry conditions is the first consideration in this procedure. Thus in this paper, the feasibility of the hot leg pipe temperature and the modified jakob number are analyzed based on a SBO sequence firstly. Subsequently, verification work is conducted under a SBO sequence with pressurizer manhole open and a SBO sequence along with SBLOCA. The results proved the excellent effectiveness of the two parameters to be used as alternative SSAMG entry conditions. Also, a relational figure is constructed based on the results of diverse sequences with various primary system pressure to provide visualized guidance for operators. What's more, the value of modified jakob number which indicates the SSAMG entry is thought to be in the range of 0.5–1.

Constraining the p-Mode-g-Mode Tidal Instability with GW170817. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2019; 122:061104. Abstract
We analyze the impact of a proposed tidal instability coupling p modes and g modes within neutron stars on GW170817. This nonresonant instability transfers energy from the orbit of the binary to internal modes of the stars, accelerating the gravitational-wave driven inspiral. We model the impact of this instability on the phasing of the gravitational wave signal using three parameters per star: an overall amplitude, a saturation frequency, and a spectral index. Incorporating these additional parameters, we compute the Bayes factor (lnB_{!pg}^{pg}) comparing our p-g model to a standard one. We find that the observed signal is consistent with waveform models that neglect p-g effects, with lnB_{!pg}^{pg}=0.03_{-0.58}^{+0.70} (maximum a posteriori and 90% credible region). By injecting simulated signals that do not include p-g effects and recovering them with the p-g model, we show that there is a ≃50% probability of obtaining similar lnB_{!pg}^{pg} even when p-g effects are absent. We find that the p-g amplitude for 1.4 M_{⊙} neutron stars is constrained to less than a few tenths of the theoretical maximum, with maxima a posteriori near one-tenth this maximum and p-g saturation frequency ∼70 Hz. This suggests that there are less than a few hundred excited modes, assuming they all saturate by wave breaking. For comparison, theoretical upper bounds suggest ≲10^{3} modes saturate by wave breaking. Thus, the measured constraints only rule out extreme values of the p-g parameters. They also imply that the instability dissipates ≲10^{51} erg over the entire inspiral, i.e., less than a few percent of the energy radiated as gravitational waves.

Search for Subsolar-Mass Ultracompact Binaries in Advanced LIGO's First Observing Run. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2018; 121:231103. Abstract
We present the first Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo search for ultracompact binary systems with component masses between 0.2 M_{⊙}-1.0 M_{⊙} using data taken between September 12, 2015 and January 19, 2016. We find no viable gravitational wave candidates. Our null result constrains the coalescence rate of monochromatic (delta function) distributions of nonspinning (0.2 M_{⊙}, 0.2 M_{⊙}) ultracompact binaries to be less than 1.0×10^{6} Gpc^{-3} yr^{-1} and the coalescence rate of a similar distribution of (1.0 M_{⊙}, 1.0 M_{⊙}) ultracompact binaries to be less than 1.9×10^{4} Gpc^{-3} yr^{-1} (at 90% confidence). Neither black holes nor neutron stars are expected to form below ∼1 M_{⊙} through conventional stellar evolution, though it has been proposed that similarly low mass black holes could be formed primordially through density fluctuations in the early Universe and contribute to the dark matter density. The interpretation of our constraints in the primordial black hole dark matter paradigm is highly model dependent; however, under a particular primordial black hole binary formation scenario we constrain monochromatic primordial black hole populations of 0.2 M_{⊙} to be less than 33% of the total dark matter density and monochromatic populations of 1.0 M_{⊙} to be less than 5% of the dark matter density. The latter strengthens the presently placed bounds from microlensing surveys of massive compact halo objects (MACHOs) provided by the MACHO and EROS Collaborations.

Abstract
Paclitaxel is used for the treatment of several types of cancers. However, one of the significant limiting complications of paclitaxel is painful peripheral neuropathy during its therapy. In this study we examined the engagement of antioxidative signal pathway of the dorsal root ganglion (DRG) in mechanical and thermal hypersensitivity evoked by paclitaxel. Behavioral test was performed to determine mechanical and thermal sensitivity in rats. Western blot analysis and ELISA were used to examine expression of Nrf2-antioxidant response element (ARE) and superoxide dismutases (SOD); and the levels of products of oxidative stress in the DRG. Our results show that paclitaxel increased mechanical and thermal sensitivity as compared with vehicle control animals. Paclitaxel also impaired Nrf2-ARE and SOD in the DRG and amplified products of oxidative stress, namely 8-isoprostaglandin F2alpha and 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine. Systemic administration of SOD mimetic using tempol, antioxidant vitamin C or blocking oxidative pathway using NADPH oxidase inhibitor (GKT137831) attenuated mechanical and thermal hypersensitivity induced by paclitaxel. This inhibitory effect was accompanied with decreases of proinflammatory cytokines (PICs) such as IL-1beta, IL-6 and TNF-alpha in the DRG. In conclusion, the data revealed impairment of Nrf2-ARE and heightened oxidative and PIC signals in the DRG of paclitaxel rats, leading to neuropathic pain. Balancing of reactive oxygen species by supplying antioxidants and/or inhibiting NADPH oxidase appears significant to yield beneficial effects in neuropathic pain conditions after chemotherapeutic paclitaxel.
