Abstract
Efficient management of Waste Water Treatment Plants (WWTPs) can produce significant environmental and economic benefits. Energy benchmarking can be used to compare WWTPs, identify targets and use these to improve their performance. Different authors have performed benchmark analysis on monthly or yearly basis but their approaches suffer from a time lag between an event, its detection, interpretation and potential actions. The availability of on-line measurement data on many WWTPs should theoretically enable the decrease of the management response time by daily benchmarking. Unfortunately this approach is often impossible because of limited data availability. This paper proposes a methodology to perform a daily benchmark analysis under database limitations. The methodology has been applied to the Energy Online System (EOS) developed in the framework of the project "INNERS" (INNovative Energy Recovery Strategies in the urban water cycle). EOS calculates a set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the evaluation of energy and process performances. In EOS, the energy KPIs take in consideration the pollutant load in order to enable the comparison between different plants. For example, EOS does not analyse the energy consumption but the energy consumption on pollutant load. This approach enables the comparison of performances for plants with different loads or for a single plant under different load conditions. The energy consumption is measured by on-line sensors, while the pollutant load is measured in the laboratory approximately every 14 days. Consequently, the unavailability of the water quality parameters is the limiting factor in calculating energy KPIs. In this paper, in order to overcome this limitation, the authors have developed a methodology to estimate the required parameters and manage the uncertainty in the estimation. By coupling the parameter estimation with an interval based benchmark approach, the authors propose an effective, fast and reproducible way to manage infrequent inlet measurements. Its use enables benchmarking on a daily basis and prepares the ground for further investigation.

Abstract
CERN's 160 MeV H(-) linear accelerator (Linac4) is a key constituent of the injector chain upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider that is being installed and commissioned. A cesiated surface ion source prototype is being tested and has delivered a beam intensity of 45 mA within an emittance of 0.3 π ⋅ mm ⋅ mrad. The optimum ratio of the co-extracted electron- to ion-current is below 1 and the best production efficiency, defined as the ratio of the beam current to the 2 MHz RF-power transmitted to the plasma, reached 1.1 mA/kW. The H(-) source prototype and the first tests of the new ion source optics, electron-dump, and front end developed to minimize the beam emittance are presented. A temperature regulated magnetron H(-) source developed by the Brookhaven National Laboratory was built at CERN. The first tests of the magnetron operated at 0.8 Hz repetition rate are described.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES The traditional 4-tiered Fuhrman grading system (FGS) is widely accepted as histopathological classification for clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) and has shown prognostic value. As intra- and inter-observer agreement are sub-optimal, simplified 2- or 3-tiered FGSs have been proposed. We aimed to validate these simplified 2- or 3-tiered FGSs for prediction of cancer-specific mortality (CSM) in a large study population from 2 European tertiary care centers. METHODS We identified and followed-up 2415 patients with ccRCC who underwent radical or partial nephrectomy in 2 European tertiary care centers. Univariable and multivariable analyses and prognostic accuracy analyses were performed to evaluate the ability of several simplified FGSs (i.e. grades I + II vs., grades III + IV, grades I + II vs. grade III and grade IV) to predict CSM. RESULTS Independent predictor status in multivariate analyses was proved for the simplified 2-tiered FGS (high-grade vs. low-grade), for the simplified 3-tiered FGS (grades I + II vs. grade III and grade IV) as well as for the traditional 4-tiered FGS. The prognostic accuracy of multivariable models of 77% was identical for all tested models. Prognostic accuracy of the model without FG was 75%. CONCLUSIONS A simplified 2- or 3-tiered FGS could predict CSM as accurate as the traditional 4-tiered FGS in a large European study population. Application of new simplified 2- or 3-tiered FGS may reduce inter-observer-variability and facilitate clinical practice without compromising the ability to predict CSM in ccRCC patients after radical or partial nephrectomy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND A strict gluten-free diet is the cornerstone of treatment for coeliac disease. Studies of gluten-free diet adherence have rarely used validated instruments. There is a paucity of data on long-term adherence to the gluten-free diet in the adult population. AIMS To determine the long-term adherence to the gluten-free diet and potential associated factors in a large coeliac disease referral centre population. METHODS We performed a mailed survey of adults with clinically, serologically and histologically confirmed coeliac disease diagnosed ≥5 years prior to survey. The previously validated Celiac Disease Adherence Test was used to determine adherence. Demographic, socio-economic and potentially associated factors were analysed with adherence as the outcome. RESULTS The response rate was 50.1% of 709 surveyed, the mean time on a gluten-free diet 9.9 ± 6.4 years. Adequate adherence (celiac disease adherence test score <13) was found in 75.5% of respondents. A higher level of education was associated with adequate adherence (P = 0.002) even after controlling for household income (P = 0.0220). Perceptions of cost, effectiveness of the gluten-free diet, knowledge of the gluten-free diet and self-effectiveness at following the gluten-free diet correlated with adherence scores (P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS Long-term adherence to a gluten-free diet was adequate in >75% of respondents. Perceived cost remains a barrier to adherence. Perceptions of effectiveness of gluten-free diet as well as its knowledge, are potential areas for intervention.
