Abstract
Strumal carcinoid develops in a germ cell tumor characterized by an intimate mixture of thyroid and carcinoid. Unlike other carcinoid tumors, most patients with strumal carcinoid have no symptoms of carcinoid syndrome; few are reported to cause severe constipation. We report a case of a 60-year-old female patient presenting with severe progressive constipation and painful defecation for last few years. A right ovarian tumor was discovered during clinical examination. CT scan revealed a large lobulated solid cystic right adenexal mass suggestive of monomorphic teratoma, which was successfully removed surgically. The histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of strumal carcinoid tumor. Her constipation completely disappeared post surgery. These tumors are known to produce a biologically active substance like peptide YY, which has a pharmacologic inhibitory action on intestinal motility. This was presumably the cause of the constipation in this patient rather than a mechanical effect of the tumor.

Abstract
To check the suitability of enzyme entrapped beads for use in pharmaceutical industry, amylase enzyme was entrapped in agar/agarose, polyacrylamide gels and calcium alginate beads. Sodium alginate of 1% concentration was found to be best with respect to immobilization efficiency and calcium alginate beads so obtained were not much susceptible to breakage. When sodium alginate- amylase mixture was added from a height of about 20-30 cm. into CaCl(2) solution, size of beads was large at higher alginate concentration due to the increase in the size of droplet formation before entering into CaCl(2) solution. Enzyme entrapped polyacrylamide and agar/agarose gels were fragile and could not withstand repeated use whereas enzyme entrapped in large calcium alginate beads was used successfully for 50 cycles for the conversion of starch into product without much damage to the beads under stirring conditions. Amylase preparation was also mixed with urease, lysozyme and coimmobilized in large sized calcium alginate beads. These beads were used for 10 repeated cycles to check the conversion of substrates into their products by their respective enzymes and we concluded that an enzyme or mixture of two or three enzymes can be immobilized in the same large sized calcium alginate beads. This will save the additional cost of bioreactor, manpower, maintenance conditions required for the conversion of one drug into another using enzyme/s entrapped in large sized beads.

Tooth cleaning frequency in relation to socio-demographic variables and personal hygiene measures among school children of Udaipur district, India. Int J Dent Hyg 2011; 9:3-8. Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of the study was to determine if frequency of tooth cleaning varies with social group, family size, bedtime and other personal hygiene habits among school children. METHODS Target population comprised schoolchildren aged 8-16 years of Udaipur district attending public schools. A two stage cluster random sampling procedure was executed to collect the representative sample, consequently final sample size accounted to 852 children. Data were collected by means of structured questionnaires which consisted of questions related to oral hygiene habits including a few general hygiene habits, bed time, family size, family income and dental visiting habits. RESULTS The results show that 30.5% of the total sample cleaned their teeth twice or more daily and there was no significant difference between the genders for tooth cleaning frequency. Logistic regression analysis revealed that older children and those having less than two siblings were more likely to clean their teeth twice a day than the younger ones and children with more than two siblings. Furthermore, frequency of tooth cleaning was significantly lower among children of parents with low level of education and less annual income as compared with those of high education and more annual income. In addition, tooth cleaning habits were more regular in children using tooth paste and regularly visiting to the dentist. CONCLUSIONS This study observed that tooth cleaning is not an isolated behaviour, but is a part of multifarious pattern of various social and behavioural factors.

Abstract
AbstractElectronic excitations which precede and can facilitate chemical reactivity of explosive molecules during shock passage will be discussed. The structurally similar family of explosives, TATB, DATB, Picramide and TNB were the focus of this work. It has been found that the energy of shake-up transitions observed in x-ray photoelectron spectra of these molecules shows a linear relation with the explosive sensitivity. To the contrary, optical absorption maxima, dependant upon dipole selection rules display a trend opposite that intuitively expected in relation to ease of initiation. The shake-up transitions are governed by monopole selection rules, so that the transitions between initial and final states of the same symmetry are allowed. The forbiddeness of the excited state may favor proton transfer, bond breakage and free radical formation relative to de-excitation by returning to the ground state. Electronic excitations of this type are believed to be important to multiphonon up pumping. The Is core hole resulting from photoionization creates a central coulomb force that shrinks the orbitals, simulating conditions similar to those of high pressure or shock passage. These factors may be at the heart of the correlation between the shake-up promotion energy and explosive sensitivity.

Abstract
Rhabdomyoma is the most common cardiac tumor in fetuses, often associated with tuberous sclerosis complex and usually diagnosed in the third trimester of pregnancy, with a benign course in the majority of cases. The hemodynamic impact of cardiac tumor depends on the location and size of the mass and the presence of dysrhythmia (4). Fetal cardiac rhabdomyoma accounts for less than 10% of fetal demise cases (1). This report presents a case of massive cardiac rhabdomyoma filling the entire right heart with pericardial extension, leading to hydrops and subsequent fetal death in the early second trimester of pregnancy.

Abstract
Extended spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs) have been observed in virtually all the species of family Enterobacteriaceae. Threat posed by antibiotic resistance because of ESBLs is more serious as a number of technical problems are associated with the detection of these enzymes. Although a number of detection methods have been designed for ESBLs, every method has its own benefits and shortcomings as well. In earlier days, isoelectric focusing (IEF) was used as the gold standard for ESBL detection. This study was undertaken to compare IEF with polymerase chain reaction, a method which has been extensively used for ESBL detection these days.
