Abstract
A novel synthetic strategy to access POSS monomers has been proposed; one reaction site of an open-cage POSS was capped, and the remaining two silanol groups were functionalized for polymerization. Importantly, the monomer can be obtained by one-pot synthesis without any troublesome isolation process.

Abstract
Fluorinated porous molecular crystals (PMCs) were fabricated from platinum(ii) dihalide complexes with 9-pentafluorophenyl-9-arsafluorene. The diiodide complex formed a PMC exhibiting open–close switching of porosity as well as on–off switching of luminescence.

Abstract
Organoarsenic chemistry was actively studied until the middle of 20th century. Although various properties of organoarsenic compounds have been computationally predicted, for example, frontier orbital levels, aromaticity, and inversion energies, serious concern to the danger of their synthetic processes has restricted experimental studies. Conventional synthetic routes require volatile and toxic arsenic precursors. Recently, nonvolatile intermediate transformation (NIT) methods have been developed to safely access functional organoarsenic compounds. Important intermediates in the NIT methods are cyclooligoarsines, which are prepared from nonvolatile inorganic precursors. In particular, the new approach has realized experimental studies on conjugated arsenic compounds: arsole derivatives. The elucidation of their intrinsic properties has triggered studies on functional organoarsenic chemistry. As a result, various kinds of arsenic-containing π-conjugated molecules and polymers have been reported for the last few years. In this minireview, progress of this recently invigorated field is overviewed.

Abstract
Solvent-based deposition techniques for fabrication of organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) generally require orthogonal solvents for deposition of a conjugated polymer layer on a polymer gate insulator layer. Here, we found significantly reduced dissolution rate of the polymeric film in the same solvent after casting a homegeneous polymerization solution of para-bis(3-aminopropyl)hexaisobutyl-substituted T8 cage (1) with terephthalaldehyde. The limited dissolution rate in the solvent provided enough chance for fabrication of a regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) (P3HT) layer on the present polymer films without using an orthogonal solvent. The rheological properties indicate that physical interaction between the polymer chains provides the significantly reduced dissolution rate after the deposition onto a substrate without any cross-linking treatments.

Abstract
2,3,4,5-Tetraaryl-1-phenylarsoles were synthesized by utilizing safely generated diiodophenylarsine and zirconacyclopentadienes. The obtained peraryl arsoles showed aggregation-induced emission (AIE), where intense emission was observed in the solid states (quantum yields up to 0.61), whereas the corresponding solutions were very weakly emissive. The optical and electronic properties were examined by experimental and computational methods. It was elucidated that the aryl groups at the 2,5-positions affected the frontier orbitals and the aromaticity of the arsole core. On the other hand, those at the 1,3,5-positions were perpendicular to the luminophore and effective for a restriction of aggregation-caused quenching. Because the lone pair of the arsenic atom has a sufficient coordination ability due to the low aromaticity of the arsole moiety, a gold(I) chloride complex of 1,2,3,4,5-pentaphenylarsole was synthesized. The complex formation caused a blue shift of the emission from the bare ligand. Interestingly, the complex showed luminescent mechanochromism; grinding the crystals with a blue emission (λem =445 nm) gave amorphous samples with a greenish-blue emission (λem =496 nm).

Abstract
Examples of solid solution behavior for molecular crystals are limited, due to difficulty in designing a crystalline mixture of different molecules. Here, we found that a mixture of two different monofunctionalized heptaisobutyl-substituted octasilsesquioxanes formed solid solutions showing a single phase-transition temperature, which exhibited orientationally disordered (OD) phases.

Abstract
A novel POSS monomer design has been proposed; a closed-cage POSS was tethered to an open-cage POSS, and the remaining two functional groups were employed for polymerization. The thermal and optical properties of the obtained main-chain type POSS polymers can be widely tuned by the substituents at the corners of the POSSs.

Abstract
Gold(i) chloride complexes with the diarsenic ligands cis-1,4-dihydro-1,4-diarsinines (cis-DHDAs) were synthesized. X-ray diffraction revealed that they formed one-dimensional polymeric structures through aurophilic interactions. Their higher-ordered structures are controlled by the ligand structure; methyl- and t-butyl substituted ligands offered transoid-transoid and transoid-cisoid conformations, respectively. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations indicated that the electronic structure of the aurophilic network was highly dependent on the conformations. This is the first study on the relationship between the chain conformation and 5d-orbital structures of gold complexes.
