Abstract
Angiosarcoma also called malignant hemangioendothelioma, caused by vascular endothelial cells or in the direction of vascular endothelial cell differertiation of mesenchymal malignant tumor, is a rare tumor found in clinical, can be in any place of the body, such as head and neck, skin and tissue, breast, bone, liver and other organs and so on, also in the nose, and sinuses rich blood vessels. But this tumor has a low incidence in the nose. Because the nose and sinuses location is hidden, the patient often with nasal bleeding, stuffy nose, headache and so on. With the increase of tumor involvement, the patient can appears the symptoms of corresponding adjacent tissue. Therefore this tumor is difficult to be early detected timely. Early complete surgical excision and supplemented by radiotherapy are preferred methods as the treatments of the nasal and sinuses angiosarcoma without distant metastase.

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the therapeutic effect of low-temperature plasma cauterization on the treatment of congenital pyriform sinus fistula(CPSF).Method:All the 146 patients with CPSF received imaging examination, and the low-temperature plasma cauterization under laryngoscope was performed in the stage of inflammation control.Result:After 6-59 months of follow-up, all patients did not have pharynx fistula, and no massive hemorrhage occurred during and after operation. Nine cases of hoarseness after operation 2 d-1 months to restore normal. Thirty cases were suspected of recurrence, of which 8 cases were cured after incision and drainage, and 4 cases were cured after two cauterization.Conclusion:Low-temperature plasma cauterization is the preferred treatment for the microinvasive, simple, beautiful and repeatable operation of PSF, which can be sugessted as the first-line choice for the treatment of sinus and fistula.

Abstract
Objective: To summarize and analyze the clinical data of hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) and to explore the application value of HVPG in the diagnosis, evaluation and clinical treatment of portal hypertension in cirrhosis. Methods: The patient data of HVPG measurement performed in Shandong Provincial Hospital from April 2010 to November 2017 were collected. Results: A total of 633 patients with 833 times of HVPG measurements were included. There was significant difference in HVPG between patients with different etiologies, different Child-pugh grades and different degrees of decompensated cirrhosis. Conclusion: The HVPG test is suitable for the diagnosis and evaluation of portal hypertension. The HVPG of patients with different severity of liver cirrhosis can guide the choice of the treatment plan, and the HVPG measurement should also be strictly standardized and quality control.

Abstract
NOD1 (nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain 1) is overexpressed in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) cells, as is IL-8 in cancer cells. However, the mechanism of the IL-8-mediated overexpression of NOD in HNSCC not been identified. This study determines whether IL-8 promotes tumor progression via the NOD signaling pathway in HNSCC. Higher IL-8, NOD1 and receptor-interacting protein kinase (RIP2) expressions were observed in HNSCC tissue than in non-cancerous matched tissue (NCMT), whereas NOD2 was weakly expressed. Furthermore, IL-8 stimulated the proliferation of HNSCC cells (SCC4, SCC9 and SCC25) but not dysplastic oral mucosa DOK cells. Exposure to IL-8 increased the clonogenicity of HNSCC cells. IL-8 siRNA inhibited cell proliferation and cell colony formation, suggesting that IL-8 is involved in HNSCC cancer progression. The expressions of CXCR1 and CXCR2 were higher in HNSCC tissue than in NCMT. HNSCC cells that were exposed to IL-8 exhibited higher expression of CXCR1/2 than did controls. The blocking of IL-8 by siRNA reduced CXCR1/2 expression in HNSCC cells, suggesting that the cancer progression of HNSCC cells that is induced by IL-8 depends on CXCR1/2. Additionally, IL-8 is associated with increased NOD1 and RIP2 expression and reduced NOD2 expression in three types of HNSCC cells. The blocking of IL-8 by siRNA reduces IL-8, NOD1 and RIP2 expressions in HNSCC cells, but not the level of NOD2. These results suggest that IL-8 has an important role in HNSCC progression via a CXCR1/2-meidated NOD1/RIP2 signaling pathway.

Abstract
The glutathione peroxidase 3 gene (GPX3) is reported to be a risk factor for arterial ischaemic stroke and cerebral venous thrombosis. GPX3 may be one of the aetiologies of sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL), which might be attributed to the genetic effect of GPX3 by influence reactive oxygen species (ROS). Unbalanced ROS have been associated with susceptibility to SSNHL. Therefore, we conducted a case-control study with 416 SSNHL cases and 255 controls. Five single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were selected. The genotypes were determined using TaqMan genotyping assays. Each SNP was tested using the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (HWE), and the genetic effects were evaluated using three inheritance models. All five SNPs were in HWE. As the result, the AG genotype of rs3805435 had an adjusted odds ratio (OR) of 0.54 (95% confidence interval = 0.37-0.79, p = 0.001) compared with the AA genotype in the SSNHL cases. The GG and AG genotypes of the SNP rs3805435 were associated with SSNHL under the dominant model (p = 0.002, OR = 0.58). In conclusion, these results suggest that GPX3 polymorphisms influence susceptibility to SSNHL in southern Taiwan.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the effects of combined application of culture supernatant of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUCMSCs) and ciprofloxacin on Staphylococcus aureus (SA) in vitro. Methods: hUCMSCs were isolated from umbilical cord tissue of full-term healthy fetus after cesarean section and cultured. Cells in the third passage were used in the experiments after identification. SA strains isolated from wounds of burn patients in our burn wards were used in the experiments. Cells were divided into 0, 10, 100, and 1 000 ng/mL lipopolysaccharide (LPS) groups according to the random number table (the same dividing method below). Cells were cultured with culture medium of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) after being treated with medium containing the corresponding mass concentrations of LPS for 12 h. At post culture hour (PCH) 6, 12, and 24, 6 wells of culture supernatant of cells in each group were obtained to measure the content of LL-37 with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Ninety blood agar plates were divided into ciprofloxacin control group (CC), ciprofloxacin+ supernatant group (CS), and ciprofloxacin+ supernatant+ LL-37 antibody group (CSL), with 30 blood agar plates in each group. Blood agar plates in group CC were coated with 1.5×10(8) colony forming unit (CFU)/mL bacteria solution prepared with normal saline. Blood agar plates in group CS were coated with 1.5×10(8) CFU/mL bacteria solution prepared with normal saline and culture supernatant of hUCMSCs (cultured by culture medium of MSCs, the same below) in double volume of normal saline. Blood agar plates in group CSL were coated with 1.5×10(8) CFU/mL bacteria solution prepared with normal saline, culture supernatant of hUCMSCs in double volume of normal saline, and 2.6 μL LL-37 antibody in the concentration of 2 μg/mL. At PCH 12, 24, and 48, 10 blood agar plates of each group were harvested to observe the distribution of SA colony on blood agar plate and to measure the diameter of bacterial inhibition ring of ciprofloxacin. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of ciprofloxacin against SA of each group was recorded. Fractional inhibitory concentration (FIC) indexes of ciprofloxacin in groups CS and CSL at PCH 12, 24, and 48 were calculated, and the effect of synergy was evaluated. Data were processed with analysis of variance of factorial design, one-way analysis of variance, LSD-t test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and Mann-Whitney U test. Results: (1) At each PCH, the content of LL-37 in culture supernatant of cells in 10, 100, and 1 000 ng/mL LPS groups was higher than that in 0 ng/mL LPS group (with t values from 11.22 to 33.36, P values below 0.01); the content of LL-37 in culture supernatant of cells in 100 and 1 000 ng/mL LPS groups was higher than that in 10 ng/mL LPS group (with t values from 2.24 to 18.73, P<0.05 or P<0.01); the content of LL-37 in culture supernatant of cells in 1 000 ng/mL LPS group was higher than that in 100 ng/mL LPS group (with t values from 12.46 to 14.70, P values below 0.01). (2) At PCH 12, 24, and 48, the bacterial colonies in groups CC, CS, and CSL began to integrate over time. At PCH 12, 24, and 48, the diameters of bacterial inhibition ring of ciprofloxacin in group CC were 26, 24, and 23 mm, respectively, with no obvious change. At PCH 12, 24, and 48, the diameters of bacterial inhibition ring of ciprofloxacin in groups CS and CSL were 82, 71, 68 mm, and 74, 59, 56 mm, respectively, significantly longer than those of group CC. (3) At each PCH, the MIC of ciprofloxacin against SA was significantly higher in group CC than in groups CS and CSL (with Z values from 6.22 to 6.71, P values below 0.01); the MIC of ciprofloxacin against SA was significantly higher in group CSL than in group CS (with Z values all equal to 6.72, P values below 0.01). (4) FIC indexes of ciprofloxacin in groups CS and CSL at PCH 12, 24, and 48 were 0.011, 0.032, 0.032, and 0.122, 0.350, 0.350, respectively. The results indicated that culture supernatant of hUCMSCs had synergistically antibacterial effect on ciprofloxacin. Conclusions: hUCMSCs can secrete LL-37, and the secretion level is increased with increase of LPS concentration. Combination of culture supernatant of hUCMSCs and ciprofloxacin can decrease the dosage of ciprofloxacin in resisting SA. Once LL-37 is neutralized, the synergistically antibacterial effect of culture supernatant of hUCMSCs is decreased.

Abstract
In recent years, many studies have found that tumor metastasis-related gene T-lymphoma invasion and metastasis-inducing factor 1 (TIAM1) had abnormal high expression in a variety of tumor cells; however, there are few studies regarding its expression in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). This study aimed to observe the expression of TIAM1 in OSCC and investigated its clinical significance. The expression of TIAM1 in tissues from 120 cases of OSCC and oral mucosa from 40 normal cases was detected by immunohistochemistry, and the relationship between the expression of TIAM1 and the clinicopathological parameters of OSCC was analyzed. The positive expression rate of TIAM1 in the OSCC tissues was significantly higher than that in the normal oral mucosa (92.5% vs 0%). With the decrease of histological differentiation of OSCC, the increase of tumor node metastasis (TNM) stage and the occurrence of lymph node metastasis, the TIAM1 staining positive rate was gradually increased, and the difference was statistically significant (P less than 0.05). However, the expression of TIAM1 in the OSCC tissues was in no correlation with the gender and age of the patients. The expression of TIAM1 is closely related to the occurrence, development and metastasis of OSCC, and it can be used as a new marker for reflecting its biological behaviors.

Abstract
Since the discovery of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell (ADSC) in more than ten years, a great progress has been made from its basic research to clinical application. Compared with bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells, ADSCs are more abundant in reserve, easier to obtain with fewer injuries and less complications. These cells have multiple differentiation potential and can differentiate into adipocytes, chondrocytes and osteoblasts with the influence of different inducing factors. Early studies of ADSCs mainly focused on the ability of multi-directional differentiation, espe-cially on the regeneration of bone defects and cartilage tissue. At present, the researches mainly focus on immunoregulation and paracrine function of ADSCs. Although ADSCs have made a great progress in clinical application, the cell preparation, use pattern, and mechanisms in clinical treatment are not clear. This paper elaborates on these issues.

Abstract
Objective: BRCA1 (breast cancer susceptibility gene 1) and RAP80 (receptor-associated protein 80) play key roles in predicting chemosensitivity of platinum and taxanes. A randomized trial was carried out to compare non-selected cisplatin-based chemotherapy with therapy customized according to BRCA1 and RAP80 expression. Methods: Advanced stage NSCLC patients whose tumor specimen was sufficient for molecular analysis were randomized (1∶3) to the control or experimental arm. Patients in the control arm received docetaxel/cisplatin; in the experimental arm, patients with low RAP80 expression received gemcitabine/cisplatin (Arm 1), those with intermediate/high RAP80 expression and low/intermediate BRCA1expression received docetaxel/cisplatin (Arm 2), and those with intermediate/high RAP80 expression and high BRCA1 expression received docetaxel alone (Arm 3). The primary end point was progression-free survival (PFS). Results: 226 patients were screened and 124 were randomized in this trial. ORR in the four subgroups was 22.6%, 48.4%, 30.3% and 19.2%, respectively (P=0.08); PFS was 4.74, 5.59, 3.78 and 2.73 months, respectively (P=0.55); and OS was 10.82, 14.44, 10.86 and 10.86 months, respectively (P=0.84). The common adverse effects included neutropenia, nausea, anemia and fatigue. Conclusions: No statistically significant difference of ORR, PFS or OS is observed in the experimental arms compared with the control arm. Patients with low RAP80 mRNA levels have a trend of better survival and higher response rate to gemcitabine/cisplatin chemotherapy.

Abstract
In order to understand the effect of grain moisture of inbred lines at the silking and physiological maturity stages on kernel dehydration rate, 59 maize inbred lines from six subgroups were selected. Grain moisture was measured and QTLs associated with kernel dehydration were mapped. A rapid dehydration evaluation and association analysis revealed eight inbred lines with faster dehydration rate, including Yuanwu 02, K36, Zhonger/O2, Lo1125, Han 49, Qi 319, Hua 160, and PH4CV. A single sequence repeat analysis using 85 pairs detected five QTLs with phenotypic variation contribution ≥10% in the permanent F2 generation populations Zheng 58 x S1776 and Chang 7-2 x K1131, which had LOD threshold values ≥ 3 in both 2013 and 2014. The chromosome region of qFkdr7b had not previously been reported and is preliminarily identified as a new major QTL. A false positive field verification of grain dehydration rate of 53 inbred lines indicated that the screening result of the rapid dehydration inbred lines by specific amplification with marker Phi114 was most similar to the field assessment result, followed by markers Phi127 and Phi029. The rapid dehydration lines selected based on primer Phi114 amplification were also similar to the field dehydration rate and can thus be used for molecular marker-assisted selection. A significant effort is needed to improve stress resistance and shorten the growth period via fast kernel dehydration in intermediate materials of the inbred lines K36, Zhonger/ O2, Lo1125, Han 49, Hua 160, and PH4CV, and further using the selected lines for new combinations.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study the relationship between pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) and preterm birth. METHODS A case-control study was conducted in Haidian Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Beijing from January to April in 2013. This study contained 174 preterm births in the case group and 382 term deliveries in the control group. The height, pre-pregnancy body weight, body weight before delivery, gestational weeks, history of diseases, family history of diseases, and complications during pregnancy of the subjects were collected. Multivariate Logistic regression was used to estimate the odds ratio and 95% confidence intervals (CI) after adjustment by maternal age, education, smoke during pregnancy, primiparous, mean income, and mean family living space. RESULTS After analyzing the relevant risk factors of preterm birth, the multivariate Logistic regression showed that pre-pregnancy obesity was a risk factor for preterm birth, the adjusted odds ratio was 2.461 (95% CI: 1.174-5.159, P=0.017). The associations between pre-pregnancy overweight and preterm birth or pre-pregnancy underweight and preterm birth were not found. The gestational diabetes mellitus, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and family history of preterm birth were risk factors for preterm birth, the adjusted odds ratios were 1.781 (95% CI: 1.025-3.095, P=0.040), 3.831 (95% CI: 2.044-7.180, P<0.001), and 3.675 (95% CI: 1.358-9.942, P=0.010), respectively. CONCLUSION Pre-pregnancy obesity appeared to be a risk factor for preterm birth. To decrease the incidence of preterm birth, women should improve preconception care and keep their BMI in a normal range before pregnancy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study the efficacy and safety of tirofiban on acute ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) in patients who do not receive early reperfusion therapy. METHODS A total of 153 STEMI patients without early reperfusion therapy were randomly distributed into tirofiban group (therapeutic group, n=78) and non-tirofiban group (control group, n=75). Coronary angiography was performed on the 5(th) and 10(th) day after treatment, and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) was conducted when necessary. The differences of initial patency of the infarct related artery (IRA), bleeding complication and clinic events within 30 days between these two groups were compared. RESULTS Tirofiban did not increase the percentage of patients with initial patency of IRA (60.3% vs 64.0%, P=0.63). The percentage of patients with thrombolysis in myocardial infarction (TIMI) 3 after PCI was 100.0% in tirofiban group and 97.1% in the control group (P=0.09). However, application of tirofiban significantly decreased poor myocardial perfusion rate after PCI (1.4% vs 8.8%, P=0.04). No significant differences were observed in major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) (3.8% vs 2.7%, P=0.68) between therapeutic and control group. The same is true for mild (5/78 vs 4/75 cases, P=0.78) and severe hemorrhage (2/78 vs 1/75 cases, P=0.58), and severe thrombocytopenia (2/78 vs 0/75 cases, P=0.10) between these two groups within 30 days. CONCLUSIONS Tirofiban did not increase initial patency in STEMI patients without early reperfusion therapy. However, it can improve myocardial perfusion after PCI.

Abstract
Various plant genes can be activated or inhibited by phytohormones under conditions of biotic and abiotic stress, especially in response to jasmonic acid (JA) and salicylic acid (SA). Interactions between JA and SA may be synergistic or antagonistic, depending on the stress condition. In this study, we cloned a full-length cDNA (LeWRKY1, GenBank accession No. FJ654265) from Lycopersicon esculentum by rapid amplification of cDNA ends. Sequence analysis showed that this gene is a group II WRKY transcription factor. Analysis of LeWRKY1 mRNA expression in various tissues by qRT-PCR showed that the highest and lowest expression occurred in the leaves and stems, respectively. In addition, LeWRKY1 expression was induced by JA and Botrytis cinerea Pers., but not by SA.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Nasal polyposis is characterised by persistent inflammation of the upper airways. Autophagy has been implicated in many chronic inflammatory diseases. Whether autophagy plays a role in nasal polyp (NP) inflammation is completely unknown and deserves investigation. METHODS LC3 and COX-2 expression, the common autophagy and inflammation indicators, respectively, was analysed by immunoblotting in fresh tissues of NP and control nasal mucosa (NM). Primary cultures of NP-derived fibroblasts (NPDFs) and NMDFs were established for in vitro studies. Autophagy was induced by amino acid starvation and LC3 ectopic overexpression or inhibited by 3-methyladenine in the fibroblasts. Inflammation was induced by IL1-β and TNF-α. LC3 and COX-2 expression was confirmed in NP specimens by immunohistochemistry. RESULTS LC3 expression was decreased while COX-2 expression was significantly increased in fresh NP tissues compared with the NM control. In NMDFs and NPDFs, autophagy induction by starvation and LC3 overexpression downregulated COX-2 expression. Conversely, autophagy inhibition by 3-methyladenine enhanced COX-2 expression. However, IL1-β and TNF-α had no effect on autophagy. Immunohistochemical studies on the NP specimens showed that most displayed low LC3 expression, whereas COX-2 was highly expressed in >50% of the specimens. Examination of two consecutive NP sections from the same tissue blocks revealed a negative correlation between LC3 and COX-2 expression. CONCLUSION Autophagy is deficient in NP tissues and COX-2 is negatively regulated by autophagy in NP-derived fibroblasts. Since COX-2 is essential for the production of pro-inflammatory mediators, this study might help interpret persistent mucosal inflammation in NP. Attenuation of inflammation by restoring autophagy might be a therapeutic strategy for treating NP.
