Abstract
Infectious hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHNV) is the most important pathogen threatening the aquaculture of salmonid fish in China. In addition to the common genogroup J IHNV, genogroup U has been newly discovered in China. However, there is no effective DNA vaccine to fight against this emerging genogroup U IHNV in China. In this study, DNA vaccines encoding the IHNV viral glycoprotein (G) gene of the GS2014 (genogroup J) and BjLL (genogroup U) strains isolated from northern China were successfully developed, which were identified by restriction analysis and IFA. The expression of the Mx-1 gene and G gene in the spleens and muscles of the injection site as well as the titers of the serum antibodies were measured to evaluate the vaccine efficacy by RT-qPCR and ELISA. We found that DNA vaccine immunization could activate Mx1 gene expression and upregulate G gene expression, and the mRNA levels of the Mx1 gene in the muscles were significantly higher than those in the spleens. Notably, DNA vaccine immunization might not promote the serum antibody in fish at the early stage of immunization. Furthermore, the efficacy of the constructed vaccines was tested in intra- and cross-genogroup challenges by a viral challenge in vivo. It seemed that the DNA vaccines were able to provide great immune protection against IHNV infection. In addition, the genogroup J IHNV-G DNA vaccine showed better immune efficacy than the genogroup U IHNV-G or divalent vaccine, which could provide cross-immune protection against the genogroup U IHNV challenge. Therefore, this is the first study to construct an IHNV DNA vaccine using the G gene from an emerging genogroup U IHNV strain in China. The results provide great insight into the advances of new prophylactic strategies to fight both the genogroup J and U IHNV in China.

Abstract
The contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) has been becoming the third common cause of hospital-acquired acute kidney injury. An ideal animal model is essential for understanding the pathophysiology of CI-AKI. Previous CI-AKI studies were mostly performed on rats with high-osmolar contrast medium (HOCM), which is unsuitable for transgenic researches. This study provides a novel, efficient and reproducible CI-AKI model which was developed in mouse by administrating a low-osmolar contrast medium (LOCM). First of all, we applied the frequently used pretreatments (uninephrectomy and water deprivation), which combined with HOCM on rats could induce CI-AKI, on mice with LOCM. Secondly, we attempted to find a novel pretreatment suitable for mouse and LOCM by combining two classic pretreatments(uninephrectomy, water deprivation and furosemide administration). Finally, we evaluate the kidney damage of the novel model. We found that this mouse model possessed a significant reduction in renal function, severe renal tissue damage, and increased renal tubular cells apoptosis, indicating that LOCM is a feasible inducer for CI-AKI mice model. Taken together, we found that uninephrectomy (UPHT) combined with 24 h water deprivation and furosemide administration 20 min before LOCM (iohexol, 10 ml/kg) application is a feasible pretreatment to establish a novel CI-AKI mouse model.

Abstract
Resveratrol, which is a natural polyphenol found in grapes, berries, peanuts, and medicinal plants, has previously been reported to perform several biological functions, including inhibition of hepatic fibrosis. Activated hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) are the major cellular source of matrix protein-secreting myofibroblasts, which are the major drivers of liver fibrogenesis. Numerous studies on the protective effects of resveratrol against liver fibrosis have focused on the inhibition of HSC activation. Although the underlying mechanisms remain to be fully elucidated, the regulation of autophagy and apoptosis might be intimately related. The mouse HSC line JS1 was stimulated with resveratrol to assess the mechanism and relationship between autophagy and apoptosis. Resveratrol modulated JS1 cell viability in a dose-dependent manner. Moreover, resveratrol inhibited JS1 cell activation and induced autophagy and apoptosis. This antifibrotic effect was attenuated when autophagy was inhibited using chloroquine (CQ) or 3-methyladenine (3-MA) or when apoptosis was inhibited using Z-VAD-FMK. Furthermore, whether the Sirtuin1 (SIRT1) and c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) signaling pathways were associated with the resveratrol-mediated induction of autophagy and apoptosis in JS1 cells was examined. The SIRT1 inhibitor EX527 reversed autophagy, and the JNK inhibitor SP600125 reversed both autophagy and apoptosis induced by resveratrol. These findings suggest that the SIRT1 and JNK signaling pathways may be involved in the resveratrol-mediated inhibition of HSC activation by regulating autophagy and apoptosis. SIRT1 may be responsible for inducing autophagy, while JNK affects both autophagy and apoptosis. This study highlighted autophagy and apoptosis as therapeutic targets by which resveratrol can attenuate fibrosis. PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS: Resveratrol, which is a natural polyphenol found in grapes, berries, peanuts, and medicinal plants, has previously been reported to inhibit hepatic fibrosis. Since activated HSCs are the major drivers of liver fibrogenesis, many studies on the anti-hepatic fibrosis effects of resveratrol have focused on inhibiting HSC activation. The objective of this study was to evaluate the inhibitory effect of resveratrol on HSC activation and focused on the mechanism by which resveratrol modulated autophagy and apoptosis in JS1 cells, a mouse immortalized HSC line. It was shown that resveratrol inhibited HSC activation by inducing autophagy and apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner, and the mechanism may be associated with the SIRT1 and JNK signaling pathways. This study highlighted autophagy and apoptosis as therapeutic targets by which resveratrol can attenuate fibrosis. These findings may provide a new framework for understanding the mechanism by which resveratrol inhibits HSC activation.

Abstract
Background Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is a home-based therapy which requires the patients or their caregivers to perform the practice. We aimed to develop a practical approach to evaluate PD practice ability of the patients and to identify berries to self-care PD. Methods A structural form was designed comprising measures of physical, cognitive, and operational abilities which were required to perform manual PD independently. The evaluation was jointly conducted by a PD nurse, a nephrologist and a close family member of the patient. Patients who met all the requirements were deemed as capable of performing PD independently (self-care PD) and others were deemed as needing an assistant (assisted PD). Results The evaluation form was applied in 280 prevalent PD patients and 33.9% of them were assessed as needing assisted PD, mainly due to physical (62.1%) or operational (66.3%) disabilities. The evaluation result was consistent with current dialysis status in 79.3% patients and it matched better in patients who performed PD with the help of an assistant (93.0 vs. 76.8%, p = 0.014). Patients who were evaluated as having barriers to self-care PD but still performed PD without an assistant were older and demonstrated higher prevalence of diabetic nephropathy and PD-related infection, lower education level, and lower serum albumin (p < 0.05). Conclusions The PD practice ability assessment form is useful to identify patients with barriers to self-care PD. It provides objective information to the patients and their family to choose feasible PD practice modality, self-care, or assisted PD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hepatitis B virus-related acute-on-chronic liver failure (HBV-ACLF) is a life-threatening disease with high short-term mortality. Early and accurate prognosis is significant for clinical decisions, in which liver volume (LV) imparts important information. However, LV has not been considered in current prognostic models for HBV-ACLF. METHODS Three hundred and twenty-three patients were recruited to the deriving cohort, while 163 were enrolled to validation cohort. The primary end-point was death within 28 days since admission. Estimated liver volume (ELV) was calculated by the formula based on healthy population. Logistic regression was used to develop a prediction model. Accuracy of models were evaluated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. RESULTS The ratio of LV to ELV (LV/ELV%) was significantly lower in non-survivors, and LV/ELV% ≤82% indicated poor prognosis. LV/ELV%, Age, prothrombin time (PT), the grade of hepatic encephalopathy (HE), ln-transformed total bilirubin (lnTBil), and log-transformed HBV DNA (Log10 HBV DNA) were identified as independent predictors to develop an LV-based model, LEAP-HBV. The mean area under the ROC (AUC) of LEAP-HBV was 0.906 (95% CI, 0.904-0.908), higher than other non-LV-based models. CONCLUSION Liver volume was an independent predictor, and LEAP-HBV, a prediction model based on LV, was developed for the short-term mortality in HBV-ACLF. Abstract
Abstract
Background
Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is one of the common cancers worldwide. The lack of specific biomarkers and therapeutic targets leads to delayed diagnosis and hence the poor prognosis of OSCC patients. Thus, it is urgent to identify effective biomarkers and therapeutic targets for OSCC.
Methods
We established the golden hamster carcinogenic model of OSCC induced by 7,12-dimethylbenz(a) anthrancene (DMBA) and used mRNA microarrays to detect the differentially expressed genes (DEGs). DEGs were validated in OSCC clinical tissue microarrays using immunohistochemistry method. Whole transcriptome sequencing was performed to obtain an overview of biological functions of Lsm12. PCR assay and sequencing were employed to investigate the alternative splicing of genes regulated by Lsm12. Cell proliferation, colony formation, Transwell migration and invasion assay and in vivo tumor formation assay were performed to investigate the roles of Lsm12 and two transcript variants of USO1 in OSCC cells.
Results
Lsm12 was identified to be significantly up-regulated in the animal model of OSCC tumorigenesis, which was validated in the clinical OSCC samples. In the paired normal tissues, Lsm12 staining was negative (91%, 92/101) or weak, while in OSCC tissues, positive rate is 100% and strong staining spread over the whole tissues in 93 (93/101, 92%) cases. Lsm12 overexpression significantly promoted OSCC cell growth, colony formation, migration and invasion abilities, while Lsm12 knockdown showed the opposite trends on these phenotypes and obviously inhibited the tumor formation in vivo. Furthermore, Lsm12 overexpression caused the inclusion of USO1 exon 15 and Lsm12 knockdown induced exon 15 skipping. Exon 15-retained USO1 significantly promoted the malignant phenotypes of OSCC cells when compared with the exon 15-deleted USO1.
Conclusions
We identified Lsm12, a novel tumorigenesis-related gene, as an important regulator involved in OSCC tumorigenesis. Lsm12 is a novel RNA-splicing related gene and can regulate the alternative splicing of USO1 exon 15 which was associated closely with OSCC carcinogenesis. Our findings thus provide that Lsm12 might be a potent biomarker and potential therapeutic target for OSCC.

Abstract
Soils heavily contaminated with arsenic (As) and cadmium (Cd) are fully utilized and create economic value by growing forages with high standard limits for heavy metals. In this study, 0.5 %, 1 % and 2 % of applied amounts of lime + ferrous sulfate (LF) and 0.25 %, 0.5 % and 1 % of applied amounts of Fe-modified biochar (MB) and Fe-modified eucalyptus sawdust (MC) were added to As and Cd cocontaminated soil planted with ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.). The results showed that the amendment-induced changes in soil pH and cation exchange capacity (CEC) contributed to the reduction in soil available Cd, which was maximally reduced by up to 76.7 %, 27.6 % and 25.1 % under the LF, MB and MC applications, respectively. In contrast, the available As content was reduced by a maximum of 25.5 % and 23.7 % under the MB and MC treatments, respectively, while LF did not reduce the available As content of the soil. As uptake by ryegrass was not reduced under the LF treatment, but As and Cd contents in the ryegrass shoot were reduced simultaneously under the MB and MC treatments. The relative forage value of ryegrass was enhanced more by MB and MC than by the LF treatment. The lime and ferrous sulfate components of LF could be immobilized against Cd and As, respectively; by characterizing MB and MC, the more available As and Cd fractions of the soil could be converted to less available fractions by electrostatic attraction, surface precipitation or complexation and redox. These results show that the application of amendments to heavily As and Cd cocontaminated soils in combination with ryegrass cultivation can help reduce the toxicity of As and Cd and increase the RFV, a model that may be a novel solution for heavily contaminated As and Cd cocontaminated soils.

Abstract
The cell wall peptidoglycan of bacteria is essential for their survival and shape development. The penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) are responsible for the terminal stage of peptidoglycan assembly. It has been shown that PBPC, a member of class A high-molecular-weight PBP, played an important role in morphology maintenance and stress response in Clavibacter michiganensis. Here, we reported the stress response strategies under viable but nonculturable (VBNC) state and revealed the regulation of peptidoglycan assembly by PBPC in C. michiganensis cells. Using atomic force microscopy imaging, we found that peptidoglycan of C. michiganensis cells displayed a relatively smooth and dense surface, whereas ΔpbpC was characterized by a "ridge-and-groove" surface, which was more distinctive after Cu2+ treatment. The peptidoglycan layer of wild type cells exhibited a significant increase in thickness and slight increase in cross-linkage following Cu2+ treatment. Compared with wild type, the thickness and cross-linkage of peptidoglycan decreased during log phase in ΔpbpC cells, but the peptidoglycan cross-linkage increased significantly under Cu2+ stress, while the thickness did not change. It is noteworthy that the above changes in the peptidoglycan layer resulted in a significant increase in the accumulation of amylase and exopolysaccharide in ΔpbpC. This study elucidates the role of PBPC in Gram-positive rod-shaped plant pathogenic bacterium in response to environmental stimuli by regulating the assembling of cell wall peptidoglycan, which is significant in understanding the survival of C. michiganensis under stress and the field epidemiology of tomato bacterial canker disease. IMPORTANCE Peptidoglycan of cell walls in bacteria is a cross-linked and meshlike scaffold that provides strength to withstand the external pressure. The increased cross-linkage in peptidoglycan and altered structure in VBNC cells endowed the cell wall more resistant to adversities. Here we systematically evaluated the stress response strategies in Gram-positive rod-shaped bacterium C. michiganensis log phase cells and revealed a significant increase of peptidoglycan thickness and slight increase of cross-linkage after Cu2+ treatment. Most strikingly, knocking-out of PBPC leads to a significant increase in cross-linking of peptidoglycan in response to Cu2+ treatment. Understanding the stress resistance mechanism and survival strategy of phytopathogenic bacteria is the basis of exploring bacterial physiology and disease epidemiology.

Abstract
Primaquine, the only licensed antimalarial drug for eradication of Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium ovale malaria, may cause acute hemolytic anemia in individuals with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (G6PDd) during treatment. The different prevalence and distribution patterns of G6PDd in Hainan, the ancient malaria-endemic area, are unclear. This study included 5,622 suspected malaria patients between 2009 and 2011 in 11 counties of Hainan. Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency prevalence was determined using the fluorescent spot test (FST) and malaria patients was confirmed by a positive light microscopy. The G6PDd prevalence for different ethnic groups, genders, and counties were calculated and compared using χ2-test. Spatial cluster and Spearman rank correlation of G6PDd prevalence and malaria incidence were analyzed. The overall G6PDd prevalence of study population was 7.45%. The G6PDd prevalence of males, Li ethnic minority, and malaria patients was significantly higher than that of females, Han ethnic majority, and non-malarial patients (p < 0.01), respectively. The spatial cluster of G6PDd and malaria located in south-western and central-southern Hainan, respectively, with no significant correlation. The study provides essential information on G6PDd prevalence in ancient malaria-endemic areas of Hainan Province. We also highlight the need for a better understanding of the mechanisms underlying the relationship between G6PDd prevalence and malaria incidence. These findings provide a reference for the safety of the primaquine-based intervention, even after malaria elimination.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Recent evidence suggests that automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) might be a feasible alternative to hemodialysis (HD) in urgent-start peritoneal dialysis. METHODS This prospective study enrolled ESRD patients who had started APD as an urgent-start dialysis modality at a single center. Dialysis-related complications were recorded. Dialysis adequacy and electrolytes imbalance were compared between baseline, 14 days and 42 days after catheter insertion. Technique survival and patient survival were also recorded. RESULTS A total of 36 patients were included in the study. Mean follow-up duration was 22 months. During the follow-up, 11 PD patients(30.6%) developed dialysis-related complications. Only two patients(5.6%) required re-insertion and one patients(2.8%) transfer to HD. The 2-year technique survival rate and patient survival rate were 94.4% and 97.2% , respectively. CONCLUSION In considering safety and dialysis adequacy, APD could be a feasible dialysis modality for urgent-start dialysis in ESRD patients, using a standard procedure.

Abstract
This systematic review and meta-analysis estimated the global, regional prevalence, and risk factors of osteoporosis. Prevalence varied greatly according to countries (from 4.1% in Netherlands to 52.0% in Turkey) and continents (from 8.0% in Oceania to 26.9% in Africa). Osteoporosis is a common metabolic bone disorder in the elderly, usually resulting in bone pain and an increased risk of fragility fracture, but few summarized studies have guided global strategies for the disease. Therefore, we pooled the epidemiologic data to estimate the global, regional prevalence, and potential risk factors of osteoporosis. We conducted a comprehensive literature search through PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Scopus, to identify population-based studies that reported the prevalence of osteoporosis based on the World Health Organization (WHO) criteria. Meta-regression and subgroup analyses were used to explore the sources of heterogeneity. The study was registered in the PROSPERO database (CRD42021285555). Of the 57,933 citations evaluated, 108 individual studies containing 343,704 subjects were included. The global prevalence of osteoporosis and osteopenia was 19.7% (95%CI, 18.0%-21.4%) and 40.4% (95%CI, 36.9%-43.8%). Prevalence varied greatly according to countries (from 4.1% in Netherlands to 52.0% in Turkey) and continents (from Oceania 8.0% to 26.9% in Africa). The prevalence was higher in developing countries (22.1%, 95%CI, 20.1%-24.1%) than in developed countries (14.5%, 95%CI, 11.5%-17.7%). Our study indicates a considerable prevalence of osteoporosis among the general population based on WHO criteria, and the prevalence varies substantially between countries and regions. Future studies with robust evidence are required to explore risk factors to provide effective preventive strategies for the disease.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The aim of our study was to find the entry point of pharmaceutical management according to the own situation of a patient with coronary heart disease and psychological disorders. CASE REPORT Clinical pharmacists adjusted and optimized the drug treatment plan according to the patient's own individual situation from the perspective of the psychological disorder after coronary heart disease operation. The plan proposed by clinical pharmacists was adopted by clinicians, and the patient's rehabilitation treatment effect was obvious. CONCLUSIONS Clinical pharmacists can actively play a role in the treatment process, providing individualized drug treatment adjustments and optimization plans for clinicians, therefore improving the therapeutic effect.

Abstract
Background Lipid accumulation in tubular cells plays a key role in diabetic kidney disease (DKD). Targeting lipid metabolism disorders has clinical value in delaying the progression of DKD, but the precise mechanism by which molecules mediate lipid-related kidney injury remains unclear. Phosphofurin acidic cluster sorting protein 2 (PACS-2) is a multifunctional sorting protein that plays a role in lipid metabolism. This study determined the role of PACS-2 in lipid-related kidney injury in DKD. Methods Diabetes was induced by a high-fat diet combined with intraperitoneal injections of streptozotocin (HFD/STZ) in proximal tubule-specific knockout of Pacs-2 mice (PT-Pacs-2−/− mice) and the control mice (Pacs-2fl/fl mice). Transcriptomic analysis was performed between Pacs-2fl/fl mice and PT-Pacs-2−/− mice. Results Diabetic PT-Pacs-2−/− mice developed more severe tubule injury and proteinuria compared to diabetic Pacs-2fl/fl mice, which accompanied with increasing lipid synthesis, uptake and decreasing cholesterol efflux as well as lipid accumulation in tubules of the kidney. Furthermore, transcriptome analysis showed that the mRNA level of sterol O-acyltransferase 1 (Soat1) was up-regulated in the kidney of control PT-Pacs-2−/− mice. Transfection of HK2 cells with PACS-2 siRNA under high glucose plus palmitic acid (HGPA) condition aggravated lipid deposition and increased the expression of SOAT1 and sterol regulatory element-binding proteins (SREBPs), while the effect was blocked partially in that of co-transfection of SOAT1 siRNA. Conclusions PACS-2 has a protective role against lipid-related kidney injury in DKD through SOAT1/SREBPs signaling. Abstract
The viable but nonculturable (VBNC) state is a unique survival strategy of bacteria in response to stress conditions. It was confirmed that Clavibacter michiganensis, the causal agent of bacterial canker in tomato, could be induced into the VBNC state by exposure to CuSO4 in an oligotrophic solution. RNA-sequencing analysis was used to monitor the mechanisms of the VBNC state during CuSO4 induction in C. michiganensis. The results identified that numerous genes involved in stringent response, copper resistance, and stress resistance were upregulated, and some involved in cell division were downregulated significantly. The study investigated the importance of Rel, which is an essential enzyme in the synthesis of the molecular alarmone ppGpp, via the generation of a Δrel mutant and its complementation strain. Biological characterization revealed that deficiency of rel reduced the bacterial growth, production of exopolysaccharides, and pathogenicity as well as ppGpp production. The Δrel mutant increased the sensitivity to environmental stress, exhibiting reduced growth on minimal media and a propensity to enter the VBNC state in response to CuSO4. These findings have important implications for the understanding of survival mechanism and management of C. michiganensis and other phytopathogenic bacteria.

Abstract
Danggui-Shaoyao-San (DSS) is one of traditional Chinese medicine, which recently was found to play a protective role in diabetic kidney disease (DKD). However, the pharmacological mechanisms of DSS remain obscure. This study would explore the molecular mechanisms and bioactive ingredients of DSS in the treatment of DKD through network pharmacology. The potential target genes of DKD were obtained through OMIM database, the DigSee database and the DisGeNET database. DSS-related targets were acquired from the BATMAN-TCM database and the STITCH database. The common targets of DSS and DKD were selected for analysis in the STRING database, and the results were imported into Cytoscape to construct a protein-protein interaction network. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathways enrichment analysis and Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analysis were carried out to further explore the mechanisms of DSS in treating DKD. Molecular docking was conducted to identify the potential interactions between the compounds and the hub genes. Finally, 162 therapeutic targets of DKD and 550 target genes of DSS were obtained from our screening process. Among this, 28 common targets were considered potential therapeutic targets of DSS for treating DKD. Hub signaling pathways including HIF-1 signaling pathway, TNF signaling pathway, AMPK signaling pathway, mTOR signaling pathway, and PI3K-Akt signaling pathway may be involved in the treatment of DKD using DSS. Furthermore, TNF and PPARG, and poricoic acid C and stigmasterol were identified as hub genes and main active components in this network, respectively. In this study, DSS appears to treat DKD by multi-targets and multi-pathways such as inflammatory, oxidative stress, autophagy and fibrosis, which provided a novel perspective for further research of DSS for the treatment of DKD.

Abstract
Target identification is essential for developing novel therapeutic strategies in diseases. Thioredoxin-interacting protein (TXNIP), also known as thioredoxin-binding protein-2, is a member of the α-arrestin protein family and is regulated by several cellular stress factors. TXNIP overexpression coupled with thioredoxin inhibits its antioxidant functions, thereby increasing oxidative stress. TXNIP is directly involved in inflammatory activation by interacting with Nod-like receptor protein 3 inflammasome. Bone metabolic disorders are associated with aging, oxidative stress, and inflammation. They are characterized by an imbalance between bone formation involving osteoblasts and bone resorption by osteoclasts, and by chondrocyte destruction. The role of TXNIP in bone metabolic diseases has been extensively investigated. Here, we discuss the roles of TXNIP in the regulatory mechanisms of transcription and protein levels and summarize its involvement in bone metabolic disorders such as osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. TXNIP is expressed in osteoblasts, osteoclasts, and chondrocytes and affects the differentiation and functioning of skeletal cells through both redox-dependent and -independent regulatory mechanisms. Therefore, TXNIP is a potential regulatory and functional factor in bone metabolism and a possible new target for the treatment of bone metabolism-related diseases.

Abstract
Objective The objective of the study was to investigate the mediating effect of regulatory emotional self-efficacy (RESE) between negative peer relationship and non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI), as well as the moderating effect of gender difference. Methods A study of 578 Chinese adolescents (46.9% males, mean age = 16.32 years, SD =0.54) was conducted using the Child and Adolescent Peer Relationship Inventory, Regulatory Emotional Self-Efficacy Scale, and the Adolescent Self-Injury Questionnaire. Results Negative peer relationship was positively correlated with NSSI, and RESE was negatively correlated with negative peer relationship and NSSI. RESE mediated the association between negative peer relationship and NSSI. The first stage(predicting the effect of negative peer relationship on RESE) and the second stage (predicting the effect of RESE on NSSI) of the mediation effect of RESE were both moderated by gender. Specifically, compared with boys, the effect of negative peer relationship on RESE was stronger for girls, and the effect of RESE on NSSI was stronger for girls than boys. Conclusion Negative peer relationships may influence NSSI of adolescents through the mediating effect of RESE and the moderating role of gender.

Abstract
Background This study aimed to assess the fertility intentions of young people after the announcement of the three–child policy in China and to determine whether knowledge about reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH) services or support, childbearing- and childbirth-related anxiety, and parenthood–related anxiety influence fertility intentions. Methods A cross-sectional Internet-based survey was conducted on a nationwide sample of young people aged 18 to 28 years old in education institutions. Factors associated with fertility intentions were analysed using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). Results Only 4.2% of males and 1.7% of females intended to have three children or more. On the whole, the majority (40.3%) reported the intention to have two children. The mean and standard deviation (SD) for the total knowledge RMNCH support and/or services knowledge score was 9.5 (SD ± 8.9), out of a possible score of 39. The median and interquartile range (IQR) of childbearing– and childbirth-related anxiety score was 8.0 (IQR = 6.0–9.0), out of a possible score of 10. The median and IQR of parenthood–related anxiety score among the males was 6.0 (IQR = 4.0–9.0) and for females was 7.0 (IQR = 5.0–9.0). Results from PLS-SEM revealed that a higher level of knowledge of RMNCH support and/or services is significantly associated with higher fertility intentions. Both childbearing- and childbirth-related anxiety and parenthood–related anxiety were inversely associated with fertility intentions. Conclusion Raising awareness about RMNCH supportive measures and easing birth- and parenting anxiety are imperative to enhance birth rates. Future policies should pay more attention to these determinants to achieve their intended goal of boosting population growth. Abstract
Drawing upon upper echelons and self-determination theories, we hypothesize and test a mediating process linking entrepreneurs’ empathy to employees‘ emotional exhaustion and the moderating role of psychological empowerment. Based on a dyadic-survey study of entrepreneurs and their employees in high-tech new ventures in China, we conducted the empirical test by using hierarchical linear modeling (HLM) and found that entrepreneurs’ empathy has a negative effect on employees‘ emotional exhaustion, and psychological empowerment not only partially mediates the relationship between entrepreneurs’ empathy and employees‘ emotional exhaustion but also positively moderates the above relationship. This study frames an integrative perspective of emotions and psychologies and sheds a nuanced understanding of the mechanisms linking empathy with emotional exhaustion. Limitations and future directions are addressed.

Abstract
Objective: To establish a rat model for laryngeal precancerous lesions histologically and pathologically comparable to the human counterpart. Methods: Thirty-six Wistar rats were randomly divided into experimental group and control group, with 18 rats in each group, and 1% 4-nitroquinoline-1-oxide (4NQO) solution and saline were respectively applied to the laryngeal mucosas of rats in two groups. During subsequent 20 weeks, the changes of laryngeal mucosas were regularly observed with naked eyes and endoscope and lesions were determined by histology. SPSS 22.0 software was used for statistical analysis. Results: The food intake, water intake and body weight of the rats in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (all P<0.05). White plaque, superficial ulcer, erosion and miliary particles were present in the larynxes of rats in the experimental group, with histological manifestations of atypical hyperplasia or carcinoma in situ, and normal epitheliums were shown in the control group. The number of Ki67 positive cells in the laryngeal mucosas of rats in the experimental group at the 4 th, 8 th, 12 th, 16 th, and 20 th weeks were 13.5±2.4, 35.6±5.8, 53.4±8.3, 78.8±11.6, 80.6±12.4, respectively, no Ki67 positive cells were found in the control group at individual time points, and the differences were statistically significant (t=9.74, 10.63, 11.14, 11.77, 11.26, respectively, all P<0.01). Conclusion: 4NQO can credibly cause rats laryngeal precancerous lesions, which morphologically and histologically mimic laryngeal carcinnogenesis. This method is practical, easy and reliable to prepare the animal model of laryngeal precancerous lesions.

Abstract
Cisplatin, as a commonly used anticancer drug, can easily lead to acute kidney injury (AKI), and has received more and more attention in clinical practice. β-hydroxybutyric acid (BHB) is a metabolite in the body and acts as an inhibitor of oxidative stress and NLRP3 inflammasome, reducing inflammatory responses and apoptosis. However, the role of BHB in cisplatin-induced AKI is currently not fully elucidated. In this study, C57BL/6 male mice were randomly divided into normal control group, cisplatin-induced AKI group and AKI with BHB treatment group. Compared to the control, cisplatin-treated mice exhibited high level of serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen and severe tubular injury, which accompanied with significantly increased expression level of NLRP3, IL-1β, IL-18, BAX, cleaved-caspase 3, as well as aggravated oxidative stress and renal tubular cell apoptosis. However, these changes were significantly improved in that of BHB treatment. In vitro, our study showed that the expression of cleaved-caspase3, IL-1β and IL-18 were significantly increased in human proximal tubular epithelial cell line (HK-2) treated with cisplatin compared with the control group, while decreased in cells treated with BHB. Furthermore, a significantly increased expression of cGAS and STING in HK-2 cells treated with cisplatin were found, whereas notably decreased in cells treated with BHB. This data indicates that BHB protects against cisplatin-induced AKI and renal tubular damage mediated by NLRP3 inflammasome and cGAS-STING pathway.
