Abstract
Objective: Balance dysfunction after stroke often results in individuals unable to maintain normal posture, limits the recovery of gait and functional independence. We explore the short-term effects of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on improving balance function and gait in stroke patients. Methods: We systematically searched on PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and Google Scholar for studies that explored the effects of tDCS on balance after stroke until August 2020. All involved studies used at least one measurement of balance, gait, or postural control as the outcome. Results: A total of 145 studies were found, of which 10 (n = 246) met the inclusion criteria and included in our studies. The present meta-analysis showed that active tDCS have beneficial effects on timed up and go test (TUGT) [mean difference (MD): 0.35; 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.11 to 0.58] and Functional Ambulation Category (FAC) (MD: −2.54; 95% CI: −3.93 to −1.15) in stroke patients. However, the results were not significant on the berg balance scale (BBS) (MD: −0.20; 95% CI: −1.44 to 1.04), lower extremity subscale of Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA-LE) (MD: −0.43; 95% CI: −1.70 to 0.84), 10-m walk test (10 MWT) (MD: −0.93; 95% CI: −2.68 to 0.82) and 6-min walking test (6 MWT) (MD: −2.55; 95% CI: −18.34 to 13.23). Conclusions: In conclusion, we revealed that tDCS might be an effective option for restoring walking independence and functional ambulation for stroke patients in our systematic review and meta-analysis. Abstract
The study proposes a new set pair analysis - variable fuzzy improved model (SPA-VFIM) by integrating the set pair analysis (SPA), variable fuzzy sets (VFS) theory, and binary semantic (BS). The SPA-VFIM method gets over the shortcomings of the existing SPA and VFS methods. The use of BS solves the problem of the weighted average principle (WAP) not being conducive to the timeliness of assessment. The existing and newly proposed methods were used to evaluate the groundwater quality in the Jiaokou Irrigation District, China, to show the advantages of the SPA-VFIM method. The results of SPA-VFIM method show that more than 80% of the groundwater, mainly distributed in the central and western parts of the study region, is assessed as level IV and level V, according to the Chinese Groundwater Quality Standards (GB/T 14848-2017). The assessment results are consistent with ground-based measurements of water quality, and NO3-, Na+, SO42-, Total Hardness (TH), and Cl- are the main pollutants. The SPA-VFIM and existing methods were compared. The results indicate that 57.69% and 76.92% of the assessment results by the SPA-VFIM method agree well with that of the SPA and VFS methods, respectively, indicating that the new SPA-VFIM method is reasonable and effective in groundwater quality. The results of groundwater quality assessment show that local authorities should pay more attention to areas with poor and very poor groundwater quality. These findings are beneficial to the future groundwater management plans dealing with drinking and irrigation and the sustainable development of water resources in this irrigation district.

Abstract
PURPOSE To investigate the effect of saikosaponin-d (Ssd) on proliferation, differentiation, and stemness of neural stem cells (NSCs), and to observe whether Ssd has a protective effect on NSCs at medium-high and high temperature. MATERIALS AND METHODS NSCs were extracted from 15-day fetal mice. After subculture, Ssd treatment was performed. Cell cycle and apoptosis rate were detected by flow cytometry. Western Blot and immunofluorescence assay were used to detect the expression and spatial distribution of Nestin, NSE, GFAP, Oct4, and SOX2. Cell growth morphology was observed under a microscope; the concentration of extracellular lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) was determined by ELISA. RESULTS Compared with the control group, the proportion of NSCs in the G0/G1 phase increased in the Ssd treatment group; on the contrary, the proportion in the G2/M phase significantly decreased. Microscopically, our results also suggested the sphere-formation rate increased significantly. Besides, the percentage of dead cells in the Ssd group at 38.5, 40°C were reduced, and the level of LDH release was dropped. CONCLUSION Ssd improved the stemness of NSCs, inhibited their differentiation into neural cells, and reduced cell damage under high temperature. Therefore, we speculate that Ssd can improve the thermotolerance of NSCs and protect the nervous system of children with fever.

Abstract
Groundwater is an important water resource in arid and semi-arid regions. The impact of human activities on groundwater is increasing. After 60 years running, the groundwater quality and its formation mechanism are imperative questions needed to be answered in Jiaokou Irrigation District, Guanzhong Basin, China. In this study, the quality of groundwater in Jiaokou Irrigation District was assessed by a new integrated-weight water quality index (IWQI), and the groundwater chemistry is studied through integrated statistical, geostatistical and hydrogeochemical approaches. The patterns for the average anion and cation concentrations were HCO3- > SO42- > Cl- > NO3- > CO32- > NO2-, and Na+ > Mg2+ > Ca2+ > K+ > NH4+, respectively. Statistics showed that the major water chemistry types were HCO3-Na, SO4·Cl-Na, and Cl·SO4-Na. A new integrated-weight water quality index (IWQI) was proposed based on the entropy-weighted method and CRITIC method and showed excellent performance for explaining and evaluating the groundwater quality. The IWQI results show 65.33% of groundwater, mainly distributed in the central and western parts of this study area, was unsuitable for drinking. Furthermore, SO42-, HCO3-, Cl-, NO3-, and Na+ had more important effects on groundwater quality. The weathering process affecting groundwater quality in the study area is carbonate dissolution, followed by silicate weathering and evaporite dissolution, whereas the major geochemical processes include the dissolution and precipitation of calcite, as well as the dissolution of dolomite and gypsum (anhydrite). Cation exchange also plays an important role in the hydrogeochemical evolution of groundwater with a long residence time. Anthropogenic activities affecting groundwater quality included long-term irrigation infiltration and excessive use of fertilizers. The findings and the results of the study can improve understanding of the processes driving groundwater chemistry in Jiaokou Irrigation District, and can be used for reference to other similar regions in the world.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the relationship between the expression of neuropilin-1 (NRP-1) on Treg cells and its ligands semaphorins-3A (Sema3A) , transforming growth factor-β(1) (TGF-β(1)) as well as the balance of type 1 helper T cells (Th(1)) and type 2 helper T cells (Th(2)) cells. Methods: This study enrolled 62 patients with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP; 33 and 29 newly diagnosed and chronic ITP, respectively) from March 2014 to May 2015. Consequently, 30 healthy people in the same period were selected as the normal control group. The expression of NRP-1 in Treg cells was detected via flow cytometry. The Sema3A, TGF-β(1), IFN-γ, and IL-4 levels in plasma were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The real-time polymerase chain reaction technique was used to detect the mRNA expression levels of NRP-1, Sema3A, and TGF-β(1). The one-way analysis of variance and independent sample t-test was used for comparison between three and two groups, respectively. Correlations among the mRNA expression levels of NRP-1, Sema3A, and TGF-β(1) were assessed via Spearman correlation coefficients. Results: Treg cells in the newly diagnosed ITP group significantly increased compared with those in the chronic ITP and normal control groups. The expression of NRP-1 decreased[ (0.15 ± 0.03) %, (0.33 ± 0.15) %, and (0.46 ± 0.06) %; P<0.01], the plasma Sema3A level increased[ (8.10 ± 1.32) μg/L, (7.41±1.30) μg/L, and (2.88±0.82) μg/L; P<0.01], and the plasma TGF-β(1) level decreased[ (16.50±3.36) μg/L, (35.17±10.26) μg/L, and (41.00±10.02) μg/L; P<0.01]. Moreover, the level of plasma IFN-γ increased[ (17.21+2.80) ng/L, (10.23+1.59) ng/L, and (8.18+3.27) ng/L; P<0.01], and the ratios of Th(1)/Th(2) (IFN-γ/IL-4) increased (1.29±0.30, 0.72±0.16, and 0.61±0.27; P<0.01) . The mRNA expressions of NRP-1 and Sema3A in the newly diagnosed ITP and chronic ITP groups were lower than that in the normal control group (P<0.01) . Consequently, the NRP-1 mRNA expression was positively correlated with Sema3A and TGF-β(1) mRNA expression in the newly diagnosed ITP group. Conclusion: NRP-1 played an essential role in the pathogenesis of ITP.

Abstract
Abnormal osteoclastic activation and secretion of cysteine proteinases result in excessive bone resorption, which is one of the primary factors in the development of bone metabolic disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis. Mammalian cystatins have been demonstrated to restrain osteoclastic bone resorption and to alleviate severe osteolytic destruction via blocking the activity of cysteine proteinases. However, the specific effects of parasite cystatins on the formation and function of osteoclasts remain unclear. The purpose of the current study was to explore the effects of cystatins from Schistosoma japonicum (Sj‑Cys) on macrophage colony‑stimulating factor (M‑CSF) and receptor activator of NF‑κB ligand (RANKL)‑induced osteoclast differentiation, as well as the underlying molecular mechanisms. Recombinant Sj‑Cys (rSj‑Cys) dose‑dependently restrained osteoclast formation, with a half‑maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) value of 0.3 µM, and suppressed osteoclastic bone resorptive capability in vitro. The findings were based on tartrate resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) staining and bone resorption assays, respectively. However, the cell viability assay showed that the repression of rSj‑Cys on osteoclast formation did not depend on effects on cell viability or apoptosis. Based on the results of reverse transcription‑quantitative PCR and western blot analysis, it was found that rSj‑Cys downregulated the expression levels of osteoclastogenesis‑related genes and proteins, by interfering with M‑CSF and RANKL‑induced NF‑κB signaling and downstream transcription factors during early‑phase osteoclastogenesis. Overall, the results of the present study revealed that rSj‑Cys exerted an inhibitory role in osteoclast differentiation and could be a prospective biotherapeutic candidate for the treatment and prevention of bone metabolic disorders.

Abstract
Purpose: To investigate the impact of shoulder subluxation (SS) on peripheral nerve conduction and function of the hemiplegic upper extremity (HUE) in poststroke patients. Methods: Thirty post-stroke patients were selected (SS group: 15 patients, non-SS group: 15 patients, respectively). Evaluation of nerve conduction in upper limbs: the compound muscle action potential (CMAP) amplitude and latency of suprascapular, axillary, musculocutaneous, radial, median, and ulnar nerves; the motor and sensory conduction velocity and the sensory nerve action potential (SNAP) amplitude of median, ulnar, and radial nerves. The Brunnstrom stage scale was used to evaluate the HUE motor function. Results: Compared with the healthy side, the CMAP and SNAP amplitudes of tested nerves on the HUE in both groups were lower, and the CMAP latency of the suprascapular, axillary and musculocutaneous nerves on the HUE in the SS group was longer (P < 0.05). Compared with the HUE in non-SS group, the CMAP amplitude of tested nerves (except ulnar) was decreased more (P < 0.05), the motor conduction velocity of the median nerve was lower (P < 0.05), and the Brunnstrom stage of the HUE was lower in SS group (P < 0.05).Conclusions: Stroke may lead to extensive abnormal nerve conduction on the HUE, and SS may aggravate the abnormality, which may disturb the recovery of upper limb function.

Abstract
Classical swine fever virus (CSFV) is one of the most important viral pathogens leading worldwide threats to pig industry. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play important roles in regulating virus replication, but whether miRNAs affect CSFV infection is still poorly understood. In previous study, we identified four miRNAs that were down-regulated by CSFV in swine umbilical vein endothelial cells (SUVEC). In this study, miR-140, one of the most potently down-regulated genes was investigated. We found that the miRNA expression was significantly inhibited by CSFV infection. Subsequent studies revealed that miR-140 mimics significantly inhibited CSFV replication, while the inhibition of endogenous miR-140 enhanced CSFV replication. By using bioinformatics prediction, luciferase reporter system, real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) and Western blot assays, we further demonstrated that miR-140 bind to the 3' UTR of Rab25 mRNA to regulate its expression. We also analyzed the expression pattern of Rab25 in SUVECs after CSFV infection. The results showed that CSFV infection induced Rab25 expression. Finally, Rab25 was found to promote CSFV replication. In conclusion, this study demonstrated that CSFV inhibits miR-140 expression and miR-140 inhibits replication by binding to host factor Rab25.

Abstract
In order to investigate the effects of temperature, residence time (RT) and methoxyl (OCH3) on the product distribution and vapor phase reactions during pyrolysis of complex solid fuels, three model phenolic representatives, phenol, guaiacol and syringol, were pyrolyzed at a residence time of 0.7 s, over a temperature range of 400 °C–950 °C, and at temperatures of 650 °C and 750 °C, in a RT region of 0.1 s–4.2 s. Increasing yields of CO and C1–C5 light hydrocarbons (LHs) with RT at 650 °C and 750 °C indicated that ring-reduction/CO elimination of phenolic compounds happened at 650 °C, and dramatically at 750 °C. The addition of OCH3 affects the product distribution and ring-reduction pathways: C5 LHs from phenol, C2 LHs, C4 LHs and C5 LHs from guaiacol, and C1–C2 LHs from syringol. CO2 yields increase with the addition of OCH3. CO2 was formed via benzoyl and a four-membered ring, which would compete with the CO formation. The addition of OCH3 promotes the formation of coke and tar. The decomposition pathways are discussed, based on the experimental data, focusing on ring-reduction reactions and the formation of CO/CO2 and C1–C5 LHs. Effects of temperature, residence time and methoxyl on the decomposition of phenol, guaiacol and syringol, were investigated. Thermal decomposition pathways of the three model compounds were discussed based on ring reduction/CO elimination reactions.![]()

Abstract
A key early sign of degenerative disc disease (DDD) is the loss of nucleus pulposus (NP) cells (NPCs). Accordingly, NPC transplantation is a treatment strategy for intervertebral disc (IVD) degeneration. However, in advanced DDD, due to structural damage of the IVD and scaffold mechanical properties, the transplanted cells are less viable and secrete less extracellular matrix, and thus, are unable to efficiently promote NP regeneration. In this study, we evaluated the encapsulation of NPCs in a photosensitive hydrogel made of collagen hydrolysate gelatin and methacrylate (GelMA) to improve NP regeneration. By adjusting the concentration of GelMA, we prepared hydrogels with different mechanical properties. After examining the mechanical properties, cell compatibility and tissue engineering indices of the GelMA-based hydrogels, we determined the optimal hydrogel concentration of the NPC-encapsulating GelMA hydrogel for NP regeneration as 5%. NPCs effectively combined with GelMA and proliferated. As the concentration of the GelMA hydrogel increased, the survival, proliferation and matrix deposition of the encapsulated NPCs gradually decreased, which is the opposite of NPCs grown on the surface of the hydrogel. The controllability of the GelMA hydrogels suggests that these NPC-encapsulating hydrogels are promising candidates to aid in NP tissue engineering and repairing endogenous NPCs.

Abstract
Due to the large demand of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) for energy storage in daily life and the limited lifetime of commercial LIB cells, exploring green and sustainable recycling methods becomes an urgent need to mitigate the environmental and economic issues associated with waste LIBs. In this work, we demonstrate an efficient direct recycling method to regenerate degraded lithium manganese oxide (LMO) cathodes to restore their high capacity, long cycling stability, and high rate performance, on par with pristine LMO materials. This one-step regeneration, achieved by a hydrothermal reaction in dilution Li-containing solution, enables the reconstruction of desired stoichiometry and microphase purity, which is further validated by testing spent LIBs with different states of health. Life-cycle analysis suggested the great environmental and economic benefits enabled by this direct regeneration method compared with today's pyro- and hydrometallurgical processes. This work not only represents a fundamental understanding of the relithiation mechanism of spent cathodes but also provides a potential solution for sustainable and closed-loop recycling and remanufacturing of energy materials.

Abstract
Too little and too much fluorine are potentially hazardous for human health. In the Jiaokou Irrigation District, ionic concentrations, hydrogeochemistry, and fluoride contaminations were analyzed using correlation matrices, principal component analysis (PCA), and health risk assessment. The patterns for the average cation and anion concentrations were Na+ > Mg2+ > Ca2+ > K+ and SO42- > HCO3- > Cl- > NO3- > CO32-. The fluoride concentrations ranged between 0.29 and 8.92 mg/L (mean = 2.4 mg/L). 5% of the samples displayed lower than the recommended limit of 0.5 mg/L fluoride content, while 69% exceeded the allowable limits of 1.5 mg/L for drinking. The low F- content is distributed in a small part of the southeast, while elevated F- mainly in the central area of the study region. The PCA results indicated three principal components (PC), PC1 having the greatest variance (45.83%) and affected by positive loadings of TDS, Cl-, SO42-, Na+, and Mg2+, PC2 accounting for 17.03% and dominated by Ca2+, pH, HCO3-, and K+, and PC3 representing 12.17% and mainly comprising of CO32-. High fluoride groundwater is of the SO4-Cl-Na type, followed by HCO3-Na type. Evaporation and ion exchange play important roles in producing high fluoride groundwater. Furthermore, saturation index and anthropogenic activities also promote the high fluoride concentrations. The values of the total hazard quotient of 93% groundwater samples were greater than 1 for infants, followed by 85% for children, 68% for teenagers, and 57% for adults. Non-carcinogenic health risks to infants may occur over the entire study area, while for adults, health risks are mainly found in Weinan and Pucheng. High fluorine may have a potential negative influence on neurodevelopment, especially for infants and children. Adults in this region have serious dental fluorosis and skeletal fluorosis because of long-term drinking of high fluoride groundwater. Therefore, measures, including using organic fertilizers, strengthening defluoridation process, and optimizing water supply strategies, are necessary in this area.

Abstract
Objective:To explore the efficacy of functional endoscopic sinus surgery(FESS) with an absorbable sinus drug stent in the treatment of chronic sinusitis. Method:107 patients with chronic sinusitis who underwent FESS were divided into two groups: 58 patients were set as stent group who were treated with sinus drug elution during surgery; 49 patients who did not receive a sinus drug stent were included in the non-stent group. The same postoperative treatment were used in the two groups. The patients were followed up for 1 month and reviewed 3 months after surgery. Efficacy is mainly evaluated by endoscopy. The evaluation indicators include whether the sinus mucosa is congested and edema, whether there is adhesion in the middle turbinate, whether vesicles or polyp-like mucosa are formed, whether the sinus mouth is stenosed or reoccluded, whether the sinus mucosa is epithelialized, and whether the patient had intervention after surgery. Result:Stents were successfully implanted in 58 patients in the stent group. The difference of the above six indexes between the stent group and the non-stent group was statistically significant at 1 month after operation. The postoperative complication rate and postoperative intervention rate were significantly lower in the stent group than in the control group(P<0.01), the incidence of sinus mucosal epithelialization in the stent group was significantly higher than that in the non-stent group(P<0.01). The sinus mucosal epithelialization were all completed in both groups after 3 months of surgery. The postoperative complication rate and postoperative intervention rate were significantly lower in the stent group than in the non-stent group(P<0.05 or P<0.01). Conclusion:FESS combined with the absorption of sinus drug stents for the treatment of chronic sinusitis is safe and effective which can control the complications further after surgery while relieving the clinical symptoms of patients with sinusitis effectively.

Abstract
Bushen Tiansui Formula (BSTSF) is a traditional Chinese medicine prescription. It has been widely applied to treat Alzheimer's disease (AD) in the clinic; however, the mechanisms underlying its effects remain largely unknown. In this study, we used a rat AD model to study the effects of BSTSF on cognitive performance, and UPLC-MS/MS-based metabolomic and lipidomic analysis was further performed to identify significantly altered metabolites in the cerebral cortices of AD rats and determine the effects of BSTSF on the metabolomic and lipidomic profiles in the cerebral cortices of these animals. The results revealed that the levels of 47 metabolites and 30 lipids primarily associated with sphingolipid metabolism, glycerophospholipid metabolism, and linoleic acid metabolism were significantly changed in the cerebral cortices of AD rats. Among the altered lipids, ceramides, phosphatidylethanolamines, lysophosphatidylethanolamines, phosphatidylcholines, lysophosphatidylcholines, phosphatidylserines, sphingomyelins, and phosphatidylglycerols showed robust changes. Moreover, 34 differential endogenous metabolites and 21 lipids, of which the levels were mostly improved in the BSTSF treatment group, were identified as potential therapeutic targets of BSTSF against AD. Our results suggest that lipid metabolism is highly dysregulated in the cerebral cortices of AD rats, and BSTSF may exert its neuroprotective mechanisms by restoring metabolic balance, including that of sphingolipid metabolism, glycerophospholipid metabolism, alanine, aspartate, and glutamate metabolism, and D-glutamine and D-glutamate metabolism. Our data may lead to a deeper understanding of the AD-associated metabolic profile and shed new light on the mechanism underlying the therapeutic effects of BSTSF.

Abstract
Objective: To compare clinical characteristics and prognosis between patients with primary (PTL) and secondary thyroid lymphoma (STL) . Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on 46 patients with thyroid lymphoma (PTL 19, STL 27) from January 2002 to October 2018. Results: ①PTL group included 4 males and 15 females, with a median age of 57 years. The STL group included 10 males and 17 females, with a median age of 61 years. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) was the main pathological subtype in both PTL and STL groups, with 14 cases (73.7%) and 20 cases (74.1%) respectively. In terms of clinical manifestations, goiter was the most common symptom in PTL patients 100.0% (19/19) , while 29.6% (8/27) STL had goiter (P<0.001) . The incidences of increased thyroglobulin antibody (TRAb) /thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPO) were 81.3% (13/16) in PTL group and 43.8% (7/16) in STL group (P=0.028) respectively. Concerning the clinical features of patients, only two PTL patients (10.5%) with advanced Ann Arbor stage (Ⅲ/Ⅳ) , while 21 (77.8%) STL experienced advanced Ann Arbor stage (P<0.001) . Elevated serum β(2)-MG were appeared in 1 (7.1%) PTL and 9 (47.4%) STL patients (P=0.013) , and advanced IPI score (3-5) was more common in STL than PTL (59.3% vs 5.3%, P<0.001) . ②Among the 17 PTL patients who received treatments, 15 (88.2%) achieved remission; as for STL patients received treatments, 23/25 (92.0%) were in remission. The 5-year overall survival (OS) rates of PTL (n=17) and STL groups (n=25) were (87.4±8.4) % and (70.0±13.1) % (P=0.433) respectively. ③The 5-year OS rate in 41 patients with B-cell thyroid lymphoma was (81.1±7.5) %. Univariate analysis showed that IPI score of 3-5 (P=0.040) and high level of serum IL-8 (P=0.022) were significantly associated with poor outcome. Conclusion: DLBCL was the most common subtype in both PTL and STL, and goiter was the major symptom in PTL. IPI score of 3-5 and high level of serum IL-8 were unfavorable prognostic factors for patients with B-cell thyroid lymphoma.

Abstract
Data of physical measurement of children aged 7-17 years old in China was from National Nutrition and Health Survey in 1982, 1992, 2002 and 2010-2012. From 1982 to 2012, the height and weight of children aged 7-17 years old continued to increase. The height of urban boys, urban girls, rural boys and rural girls ranged from 118.8 to 171.1, 117.8 to 159.9, 113.3 to 168.2 and 111.7 to 158.1 cm, and weight ranged from 21.3 to 61.4, 20.2 to 53.1, 19.4 to 57.9, and 19.0 to 51.5 kg, respectively. The height and weight of urban children were larger than those of rural children. The height and weight of boys were larger than those of girls, except for adolescents. From 1982 to 2012, the height increment of urban boys, urban girls, rural boys and rural girls was 8.8, 6.2, 12.9 and 10.8 cm, and weight increment was 9.9, 6.2, 9.8 and 7.6 kg, respectively. The increment of urban children was smaller than that of rural children, which implied that the disparity between urban and rural was shrinking. The increment of boys was larger than that of girls, which implied that the gender disparity was increasing.
