Abstract
Introduction: Although adjunctive aripiprazole improves hyperprolactinemia, sufficient evidence for its effects on sexual dysfunction has not been obtained. We assessed the usefulness of adjunctive aripiprazole for schizophrenia with sexual dysfunction. Methods: 22 Japanese schizophrenia patients with antipsychotic-induced hyperprolactinemia and sexual dysfunction were enrolled, and 19 of them completed the study. Aripiprazole was administrated in a flexible titration schedule to participants according to the judgment of each doctor, and patients were followed for 24 weeks. Serum prolactin, Clinical Global Impression Scales-Severity (CGI-S), and Nagoya Sexual Function Questionnaire (NSFQ) were measured at baseline and at 4, 8, 12, and 24 weeks. Results: Prolactin at week 4 and later was significantly lower than that at baseline. Compared to baseline, we observed a significant improvement in total sexual dysfunction as measured by NSFQ at week 8 and later. In males, erectile dysfunction was significantly reduced at week 24. In females, menstrual irregularity and galactorrhea were significantly reduced at week 24. CGI-S did not significantly change. Discussion: Although the small sample size is a limitation in this study, adjunctive aripiprazole may be useful treatment for sexual dysfunction including hyperprolactinemia in schizophrenia.

Abstract
A new species of Leptostraca, Nebaliaterazakiisp. n. is described and figured. The species was sampled from the coral reefs of Pulau Payar Marine Park, Langkawi, Malaysia. There are 32 existing species of Nebalia but Nebaliaterazakii sp. n. can be distinguished from the other known species of Nebalia by the following combination of characters: the rostrum is 1.89 times as long as wide and the eyes have no dorsal papilla or lobes. Article 4 of the antennular peduncle has one short thick distal spine. The proximal article of the endopod of maxilla 2 is shorter than the distal, a feature peculiar to Nebaliaterazakiisp. n., the exopod of maxilla 2 is longer than article 1 of the endopod, the posterior dorsal borders of the pleonites 6 to 7 are provided with distally sharp denticles, anal plate with prominent lateral shoulder and finally, the terminal seta of the caudal rami is 1.17 times the length of the entire rami.

Abstract
Fimbriae are protein-based filamentous appendages that protrude from the bacterial cell surface and facilitate host adhesion. Two types of fimbriae, FimA and Mfa1, of the periodontal pathogen Porphyromonas gingivalis are responsible for adherence to other bacteria and to host cells in the oral cavity. Both fimbrial forms are composed of 5 proteins, but there is limited information about their polymerization mechanisms. Here, the authors evaluated the function of Mfa5, one of the Mfa1 fimbrial accessory proteins. Using mfa5 gene disruption and complementation studies, the authors revealed that Mfa5 affects the incorporation of other accessory proteins, Mfa3 and Mfa4, into fibers and the expression of fimbriae on the cell surface. Mfa5 is predicted to have a C-terminal domain (CTD) that uses the type IX secretion system (T9SS), which is limited to this organism and related Bacteroidetes species, for translocation across the outer membrane. To determine the relationship between the putative Mfa5 CTD and the T9SS, mutants were constructed with in-frame deletion of the CTD and deletion of porU, a C-terminal signal peptidase linked to T9SS-mediated secretion. The ∆CTD-expressing strain presented a similar phenotype to the mfa5 disruption mutant with reduced expression of fimbriae lacking all accessory proteins. The ∆porU mutants and the ∆CTD-expressing strain showed intracellular accumulation of Mfa5. These results indicate that Mfa5 function requires T9SS-mediated translocation across the outer membrane, which is dependent on the CTD, and subsequent incorporation into fibers. These findings suggest the presence of a novel polymerization mechanism of the P. gingivalis fimbriae.

Abstract
Electrocorticograms (ECoG) provide a unique opportunity to monitor neural activity directly at the cortical surface. Ten patients with subdural electrodes covering ventral and lateral anterior temporal regions (ATL) performed a picture naming task. Temporal representational similarity analysis (RSA) was used, for the first time, to compare spatio-temporal neural patterns from the ATL surface with pre-defined theoretical models. The results indicate that the neural activity in the ventral subregion of the ATL codes semantic representations from 250 msec after picture onset. The observed activation similarity was not related to the visual similarity of the pictures or the phonological similarity of their names. In keeping with convergent evidence for the importance of the ATL in semantic processing, these results provide the first direct evidence of semantic coding from the surface of the ventral ATL and its time-course.

Abstract
The objective of linear IFMIF prototype accelerator is to demonstrate 125 mA/CW deuterium ion beam acceleration up to 9 MeV. The injector has been developed in CEA Saclay and already demonstrated 140 mA/100 keV deuterium beam [R. Gobin et al., Rev. Sci. Instrum. 85, 02A918 (2014)]. The injector was disassembled and delivered to the International Fusion Energy Research Center in Rokkasho, Japan. After reassembling the injector, commissioning has started in 2014. Up to now, 100 keV/120 mA/CW hydrogen and 100 keV/90 mA/CW deuterium ion beams have been produced stably from a 10 mm diameter extraction aperture with a low beam emittance of 0.21 π mm mrad (rms, normalized). Neutron production by D-D reaction up to 2.4 × 10(9) n/s has been observed in the deuterium operation.

Abstract
While the biodegradation of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) via the release of nitrite is well established, mechanistic details of the reaction in mammals are unknown. To address this issue, we attempted to identify the enzyme from rat liver responsible for the production of nitrite from TNT. A NADPH-cytochrome P450 reductase (P450R) was isolated and identified from rat liver microsomes as the enzyme responsible for not only the release of nitrite from TNT but also formation of superoxide and 4-hydroxyamino-2,6-dinitrotoluene (4-HADNT) under aerobic conditions. In this context, reactive oxygen species generated during P450R-catalyzed TNT reduction were found to be, at least in part, a mediator for the production of 4-HADNT from TNT via formation of 4-nitroso-2,6-dinitrotoluene. P450R did not catalyze the formation of the hydride-Meisenheimer complex (H(-)-TNT) that is thought to be an intermediate for nitrite release from TNT. Furthermore, in a time-course experiment, 4-HADNT formation reached a plateau level and then declined during the reaction between TNT and P450R with NADPH, while the release of nitrite was subjected to a lag period. Notably, the produced 4-HADNT can react with the parent compound TNT to produce nitrite and dimerized products via formation of a Janovsky complex. Our results demonstrate for the first time that P450R-mediated release of nitrite from TNT results from the process of chemical interaction of TNT and its 4-electron reduction metabolite 4-HADNT.

Abstract
The patient was a 56-year-old man with advanced esophagogastric junction cancer. He received neoadjuvant chemotherapy with 5-FU plus CDDP followed by lower esophagectomy and total gastrectomy via the left thoracoabdominal approach in October 2011. Pathological examination revealed EGJ adenocarcinoma (ypT4aN1M0, Stage ⅢA, Japanese Classification of Gastric Carcinoma ver.14), and histological analysis indicated Grade 0 (no change). Adjuvant chemotherapy with S-1 was administered. Nevertheless, 6 months after the operation, a solitary hepatic metastasis (f: 32 mm) was detected in S7 of the liver. The patient underwent proton beam irradiation of the liver metastasis, resulting in a complete response, and he was followed up without any chemotherapy. However, 21 months after the irradiation, regrowth of the previous lesion with FDG re-accumulation was noted. Given the absence of any neoplasms other than the liver metastasis, right hepatic lobectomy was performed. Pathological examination revealed a small cluster of viable tumor cells surrounded by extensive fibrotic tissue (Grade 2). At 45 months after the initial operation (10 months after the liver lobectomy), the patient is living without any signs of recurrence. Surgical resection for liver metastasis of EGJ cancer may be feasible after careful selection.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The solution in which graft tissue is stored (that is, preservation solution) is an important component of liver transplantation technology. Its protective effect is induced by substances in the solution, including radical scavengers, buffers, and energy-giving substances. New preservation solutions have proven to be effective in preventing organ damage during cold ischemia and in extending the time limits for storage. AIM This study determined the relationship between luminescence intensity and content of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in liver tissue and proposes a new ex vivo screening system that uses Lewis rats transgenic for luciferase for evaluating the effectiveness of preservation solutions. METHODS Samples (diameter, 2 mm) of liver were obtained from transgenic rats. The viability of these tissues after storage for as long as 6 hours in University of Wisconsin (UW) solution, extracellular trehalose solution of Kyoto, Euro-Collins (EC) solution, histidine-tryptophan-ketoflutarate solution, low potassium dextran solution, or normal saline was assessed by determining ATP content and luminescence intensity. RESULTS Luminescence had a linear relationship (R = 0.88) with ATP levels. Regardless of the preservation solution used, the luminescence intensities of the liver tissue chips decreased linearly with time especially through a short span of time (0 to 2 hours; R(2) = 0.58-1.0). The luminescence of liver chip tissues maintained long term (2 to 6 hours) in UW solution tended to be higher than those of tissues stored in other solutions (P < .05; 6 hours). On the basis of luminescence intensity, EC might be preferable to the other solutions tested for ultra-short-term storage (0.5 to 2 hours). CONCLUSION Our model, which combines the use of the bioimaging system and Lewis rats transgenic for luciferase, effectively assessed the viability of liver tissue samples. We believe that this ex vivo screening system will be an effective tool for evaluating preservation solutions for liver grafts.

Abstract
Spin fluctuations were studied over a wide momentum (ℏQ) and energy (E) space in the frustrated d-electron heavy-fermion metal LiV_{2}O_{4} by time-of-flight inelastic neutron scattering. We observed the overall Q-E evolutions near the characteristic Q=0.6 Å^{-1} peak and found another weak broad magnetic peak around 2.4 Å^{-1}. The data are described by a simple response function, a partially delocalized magnetic form factor, and antiferromagnetic short-range spatial correlations, indicating that heavy-fermion formation is attributable to spin-orbit fluctuations with orbital hybridization.

Abstract
A 63-year-old man underwent subtotal stomach-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy and intraoperative radiation therapy for pancreatic head cancer (Stage IVa, JPS). Subsequently, he received adjuvant chemotherapy including gemcitabine (GEM). A peritoneal recurrence appeared adjacent to the right colon and the lower pole of the right kidney. He received chemotherapy including S-1 and GEM+S-1. Since the recurrent lesions were localized, he underwent resection for the recurrence lesions 2 years and 9 months after surgery. The resection was R1, and re-recurrence appeared in the lower pole of the right kidney. After chemotherapy and chemoradiotherapy, he underwent re-resection for the recurrence 4 years and 3 months after the first surgery. Three months after re-resection, multiple liver metastases appeared in the bilateral lobes. Reoperation can be one of the multidisciplinary management options for local recurrence of pancreatic cancer under specific conditions.

Abstract
We investigated the effects of previously identified quantitative trait loci (QTL) in an experimental backcross (BC) between Chinese Meishan pigs and commercial Duroc pigs. We performed marker-assisted introgression of two QTL for intramuscular fat (IMF) content (IMF population) and three QTL for reproductive traits (reproduction population) from a donor Meishan pig into a recipient Duroc pig. At the fourth BC generation of the IMF population and third BC generation of the reproduction population, carrier animals were selected for the production of animals homozygous for the QTL. Our previous studies have shown that the presence of a Meishan allele on the IMF QTL is associated with low IMF values, and the Meishan allele on the reproductive QTL is associated with large litters. In this study, the presence of a Duroc allele at the IMF QTL on SSC9 resulted in a 0.27% increase in IMF (additive effect = 0.27 ± 0.08), whereas the presence of a Meishan allele at the IMF QTL on SSC7 resulted in a 0.34% increase in IMF (additive effect = -0.34 ± 0.09). The presence of the Meishan allele at the IMF QTL on SSC7 thus had the opposite effect to our previous studies, that is, increased IMF. In the reproduction population, we observed no differences between the genotypes of the three QTL in regard to number of corpora lutea or litter size. Marker-assisted introgression at these QTL is thus unlikely to result in an associated increase in litter size. These results show that it is possible to introgress alleles from other breeds into a selection population using molecular markers; any unexpected results might be associated with the genetic background.

Abstract
Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and quasielastic neutron scattering (QENS) experiments were conducted on two hydrated DNA dodecamers with distinct deformability: 5'CGCG[under AATT]̲CGCG3' and 5'CGCG[under TTAA]̲CGCG3'. The former is known to be rigid and the latter to be flexible. The mean-square displacements of DNA dodecamers exhibit so-called dynamical transition around 200-240 K for both sequences. To investigate the DNA-sequence-dependent dynamics, the dynamics of DNA and hydration water above the transition temperature were examined using both MD simulations and QENS experiments. The fluctuation amplitude of the AATT central tetramer is smaller, and its relaxation time is longer, than that observed in TTAA, suggesting that the AT step is kinetically more stable than TA. The sequence-dependent local base pair step dynamics correlates with the kinetics of breaking the hydrogen bond between DNA and hydration water. The sequence-dependent DNA base pair step fluctuations appear above the dynamical transition temperature. Together with these results, we conclude that DNA deformability is related to the local dynamics of the base pair steps, themselves coupled to hydration water in the minor groove.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Segmental intestinal transplantations from living, genetically related donors provide advantages compared with those from cadaveric subjects. However, successful preservation during ischemic cold storage is critical for living donor grafts. Thus, the development of preservation solutions that maintain graft viability is essential for success. Herein we have reported application of a cell-based viability assay in multiwell plates to assess the effectiveness of various solutions to preserve intestinal grafts. METHODS Freshly isolated intestinal chips from luciferase transgenic rats were placed in 96-well tissue culture plates for incubation at 4°C for 24 hours in various preservation solutions: ET-Kyoto (ET-K), University of Wisconsin (UW) solution, Euro-Collins (EC) solution, histidine-tryptophan-ketoglutarate (HTK) solution, lactated Ringer's (LR) solution, or saline. RESULTS As indicated by a higher level of luminescence, intestinal chips preserved in UW, HTK, or ET-K solution contained more viable cells, than those preserved in EC, LR, or saline solution. After exposure to the preservation solutions for 1 hour, the mucosal layer chips showed lower cell viability than the muscle layer chips. CONCLUSION Our data demonstrated that ET-K and UW solutions used together with intestinal chips of Luciferase transgenic rat and in vivo imaging provided optimal viability during ischemic cold storage prior to transplantation. Further development of preservation conditions to minimize the loss of viability of intestinal grafts before clinical transplantation is essential to improve outcomes.

Abstract
Both tacrolimus and glycopeptide antibiotics are known to be nephrotoxic, and are often concomitantly given after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) or solid organ transplantation. The aim of this study is to evaluate the nephrotoxicity of concomitant use of tacrolimus and glycopeptide antibiotics in HSCT recipients. We retrospectively evaluated 67 patients who received intravenous tacrolimus and teicoplanin concomitantly for >4 days after allogeneic HSCT for hematologic diseases. Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) was performed in all patients for both tacrolimus and teicoplanin. The median age of the patients was 48 years (range: 16-62), and the median duration of the co-administration of tacrolimus and teicoplanin was 11 days (range: 4-40). The mean serum creatinine (sCr) level tended to be elevated after the co-administration (from 0.69 ± 0.26 to 0.75 ± 0.30 mg/dL; P = 0.08); however, a 2-fold or greater increase in sCr was observed only in 2 (3.0%) patients. Increased sCr was reversible, and no patient required hemodialysis. These results suggest that the incidence of clinically significant nephrotoxicity can be minimized if the TDM of each drug is properly applied.
