Abstract
Hypertension causes a substantial burden to society. Some studies found that hypertension was associated with the working type and working hours. The purpose of the current study is to assess the dose-response relationship between working hours and hypertension.Data of 12,080 adults aged 18 to 65 years who attended the China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS) between 1989 and 2011 were analyzed. Hypertension was determined based on systolic and/or diastolic blood pressure measures, or having doctor-diagnosed hypertension. Multivariable Cox regression and restricted cubic spline to assess the dose-response relationship between working hours and hypertension.A total of 12,080 participants including 5852 females and 6228 males. By the last follow-up (2011), a total of 830 participants were hypertensive, with an incidence of 6.9%. After adjusting socio-demographic, lifestyle factors, as well as occupation type, compared with those who worked 35 to 49 hours per week, participants who worked no more than 34 hours per week (HR: 1.21, 95%CI: 1.03-1.41) and at least 56 hours per week (HR: 1.38, 95%CI: 1.19-1.59) had a higher risk of hypertension. The significant association between long working hours (at least 56 hours per week) and hypertension was observed among females (HR: 1.38, 95%CI: 1.16-1.64) and males (HR: 1.36, 95%CI: 1.04-1.78). Among manual workers, the relationship between long working hours and hypertension was observed (HR: 1.49, 95%CI: 1.10-2.02). The relationship between long working hours (HR: 1.21, 95%CI: 1.01-1.44) and short working hours (HR: 1.37, 95%CI: 1.16-1.61) and hypertension was observed among nonmanual workers. The hazard ratio of hypertension and working time displayed U-shape non-linear relationship (Ptrend < .001, non-linear P < .001). The non-linear response-dose relationship was found in manual worker, nonmanual worker, and male (Ptrend < .001, non-linear P < .001).The association between working time and hypertension showed U-shape relationship. Specifically, overtime work was an important occupational risk factors for adults, and short work time was related to hazard ratio of hypertension in nonmanual workers.

Abstract
An excellent aptasensor for electrochemical detection of amyloid-β oligomers (AβOs) at trace levels was fabricated based on a triple-helix aptamer switch (THAS) via target-triggered signal transduction DNA displacement events. Specifically, a single-stranded anti-AβO aptamer (Apt) carrying two symmetrical arm segments was first attached via Au-S binding to an Au electrode. Gold nanoparticle (GNP)-tagged signal transduction probes (GNP-STPs) were simultaneously hybridized with the two arm segments of the Apt, and a rigid THAS was formed on the Au electrode. Compared to the conventional hybrid, the number of GNPs on the Au electrode increased significantly with the THAS, effectively improving the stability of the Apt to avoid lodging. Trithiocyanuric acid (TA) was utilized to further gather the GNPs and form network-like TA/GNPs. As a result, the differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) response of GNPs was clearly enhanced. When AβOs were present, target-triggered signal transduction DNA displacement events were carried out from THAS via the reaction of the Apt with the AβOs, which caused the GNP-STP to dissociate from the Au electrode, and thus a significant reduction in the DPV response was observed. The assay was able to sensitively detect trace AβOs by monitoring the AβO-controlled DPV response change. It exhibited a wide linear range from 1 fM to 10 pM with a low detection limit of 0.5 fM, and was successfully employed for the determination of AβOs in 20 serum samples, with good recovery. Moreover, the developed assay can provide a sensitive and selective platform for many studies or investigations related to Alzheimer's disease (AD) monitoring and treatment.

Abstract
The aggregation of amyloid-β oligomers (AβOs) with extremely strong neurotoxicity has been proved to be the main pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). For sensitive quantification of AβOs, a switchable electrochemical aptasensor is proposed. Metal organic framework carrying Au nanoparticles (AuNPs@CuMOF) has been used to label signaling displaced-probe (SD), which formed triple helix switch (THS) by hybridizing with label-free anti-AβOs aptamer (Apt) on the electrodeposited palladium electrode (EPd). Thus, a relatively strong response of differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) was produced (switch on). With the specific binding between AβOs and Apt, the DPV response obviously decreased, owing to destroyed structure of THS and the separation of AuNPs@CuMOF/SD from the EPd (switch off). The mode of "switch on-off" can dramatically enhance the AβOs-dependent DPV intensity change. As a result, the switchable EA exhibited excellent selectivity and sensitivity with the linear range from 0.5 fM to 500 fM and the detection limit of 0.25 fM. When evaluating the AβOs of artificial cerebrospinal fluid (aCSF) samples, the switchable EA exhibited desirable feasibility, and the results are basically consistent with the enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The work could provide a potential tool of the AD diagnosis and a bright future in clinical applications.

Abstract
We prepared Y2 Mg2 Al2 Si2 O12 :xTb3+ (x = 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08, 0.10, 0.12, 0.14 and 0.16) luminescent materials using a nodulizing procedure. The phase and luminescence properties of these materials were investigated. X-ray diffraction results demonstrated that Tb3+ ions doped into Y2 Mg2 Al2 Si2 O12 hosts successfully and the Y2 Mg2 Al2 Si2 O12 :xTb3+ materials showed a pure cubic phase. Y2 Mg2 Al2 Si2 O12 :xTb3+ materials had the characteristic Tb3+ emission bands derived from 5 D4 →7 F6 , 7 F5 , 7 F4 , and 7 F3 transitions when excited at 365 nm. The green emission band that derived from the 5 D4 →7 F5 transition was highest due to the high possibility of both electric-dipole and magnetic-dipole transitions. Emission spectra indicated that the critical concentration of Tb3+ in the Y2 Mg2 Al2 Si2 O12 host was 0.14. The concentration quenching of Y2 Mg2 Al2 Si2 O12 :Tb3+ was derived from a dipole-dipole interaction.

Abstract
Background Desmoglein2 (DSG2) is a transmembrane protein that helps regulate intercellular connections and contributes to desmosome assembly. Desmosome are associated with cell adhesion junctions, which play an important role in cancer progression specially cancer cell migration and invasion. However, DSG2 expression in colon cancer (CC) and its association with CC patients’ overall survival (OS) are still unclear. Methods We collected 587 CC samples, 41 colitis tissues and 114 pericarcinomatous tissues, as well as corresponding clinicopathological data about the patients who contributed them. All samples were tested immunohistochemically in tissue microarrays. Kaplan–Meier method was used for calculating patient survival. Univariate and multivariate analyses was used for investigating DGS2 link with CC patient’s clinicopathological factors. Bioinformatics analysis was also used in study. Results The results showed that DSG2 expression was lower in CC tissues than in pericarcinomatous tissues (P < 0.001). DSG2 expression was associated with differentiation (P = 0.033), lymph node metastasis (P = 0.045), distant metastasis (P = 0.006) and AJCC stage (P < 0.001). Univariate analysis indicated that poor OS in patients with CC was associated with low DSG2 expression (P < 0.001), tumor size (P < 0.001), lymph node metastasis (P < 0.001), distant metastasis (P < 0.001), AJCC stage (P < 0.001) and venous invasion (P < 0.001). In multivariate analysis, low DSG2 expression (P < 0.001), distant metastasis (P < 0.001), AJCC stage (P = 0.002), venous invasion (P < 0.001) were independent prognostic factors for CC patients. Bioinformatics analysis indicated that low DSG2 expression affects protein activation, regulates the P53-related pathway in CC, and activates the EGFR pathway. Conclusions The results suggest that low DSG2 expression is associated with poor survival for CC patients. DSG2 could be a prognostic biomarker for CC.

Abstract
PURPOSE An in-depth understanding of the mechanism of thyroid cancer progression will help identify patients with thyroid cancer with a high risk of recurrence and metastasis. Although studies have pointed out that the senescence of thyroid tumor cells may stimulate TAMs and cause a series of changes. However, the role of TAMs in aging thyroid cancer cells is still unknown. The aim of this study was to investigate the function of TAMs in aging thyroid cancer cells. METHODS We conducted in vitro model studies based on the K1 cell line to induce tumor cell senescence and study its effect on the differentiation of macrophages, flow cytometry was used to confirm polarization of macrophages, transwell assay was used to confirm changes of invasion and migration of tumor cells. RESULT Our data indicate that aging thyroid tumor cell lines trigger the polarization of M2-like macrophages, accompanied by increased expression of CCL17, CCL18, IL-18, and TGFβ1. This event is caused by the activation of the NFκB pathway upregulation of CXCL2 and CXCL3 is related. Further studies have shown that differentiated M2-like macrophages promote tumor cell migration (but have no effect on cell proliferation). CONCLUSION Our study indicating that the interaction between tumor and TAMs also occurs in the advanced stages of thyroid tumors and will lead to faster tumors progress.

Abstract
An 8-week growth trial was conducted to study enterohepatic recirculation of bile acid metabolism and the intestinal microbiota of Amur sturgeon (Acipenser schrenckii) fed with three diets, including 540 g/kg, 270 g/kg or 0 g/kg fishmeal, which was correspondingly replaced by a plant protein blend (named P0, P50 and P100, respectively). The diets were designed to be isonitrogenous, isoenergetic and essential nutrients balanced. With rising levels of dietary plant protein, disruption of the spiral valve intestinal microbiota and more morbidity with liver disease were observed in the P100 group, although there were no haematological abnormalities observed. An obvious bile acids enterohepatic circulation disorder was found with phenotypes of increased liver bile acids compensatory synthesis, and reduced expression of bile acid receptors (FXR and TGR5), which induced BA accumulative toxicity. Accompanied by increased oxidative stress, it further induced hepatic lesions and hypoimmunity, which were non-negligible reasons for the high mortality and low utilization ability of plant protein by Amur sturgeon.

Abstract
The main clock in mammals, located in the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) of hypothalamus, not only regulates the daily rhythms in physiological and behavioral activities, but also plays a key role as one of the control nodes in the brain regulating behavioral activity. As such, it induces scale-invariance in the temporal patterns of behavioral activity and of multi-unit neural activity of the SCN network. In particular, the scale-invariant patterns maintain across multiple time scales from 3 minutes to 10 hours, characterized by a scaling exponent around 1. Thus far, no study found the origin of the scale-invariance of the SCN network. Using the method of correlation-dependent balance estimation of diffusion entropy (cBEDE), we found that scale-invariance also exists in the individual neurons of the SCN, and the scale invariance properties are significantly increased when the neurons are coupled in a network of neurons. Improved scale invariance in the single neurons is, therefore, imposed by the emergent network properties of the SCN network. Our findings show that the scale-invariance of the SCN can already be found at the level of the individual neurons and that the application of a scale invariance measure, such as cBEDE, can help in determining the network status of the SCN.

Abstract
Construal level refers to the level of abstractness that events and objects are represented, with high construal level promoting relational processing, whereas low construal level, item-specific processing. Three experiments (total N = 432) were conducted to investigate how priming construal level affects encoding of Deese/Roediger-McDermott (DRM) lists (e.g., bed, dream … converged to a critical item sleep), and then modulates free recall and recognition memory performance. Before and during list encoding, participants were primed with high/low construal level by identifying global/local letter in composite letters in a Navon task, choosing category (e.g., body)/exemplar (e.g., liver) to common objects (e.g., internal organ) in a two-alternative-forced-choice task, or by narrating on a particular incident they had power over other people or someone else had power over them. Half of critical items (and yoked associates) were studied and half were not, so their hit rates, false alarm rates, and memory sensitivity were measured. Results showed the typical false memory effect and lower memory sensitivity for critical items (vs. yoked associates), but there was no significant effect of primed construal level on memory performance in all experiments, despite our sample sizes ensuring strong statistical power. Hence, construal-level priming does not modulate memory performance in the DRM task.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To explore the contribution of single-gene defects to the genetic cause of cardiac left-sided lesions (LSLs), and to evaluate the incremental diagnostic yield of whole-exome sequencing (WES) for single-gene defects in fetuses with LSLs without aneuploidy or a pathogenic copy-number variant (pCNV). METHODS Between 10 April 2015 and 30 October 2018, we recruited 80 pregnant women diagnosed with a LSL who had termination of pregnancy and genetic testing. Eligible LSLs were aortic valve atresia or stenosis, coarctation of the aorta, mitral atresia or stenosis and hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). CNV sequencing (CNV-seq) and WES were performed sequentially on specimens from these fetuses and their parents. CNV-seq was used to identify aneuploidies and pCNVs, while WES was used to identify diagnostic genetic variants in cases without aneuploidy or pCNV. RESULTS Of 80 pregnancies included in the study, 27 (33.8%) had a genetic diagnosis. CNV-seq analysis identified six (7.5%) fetuses with aneuploidy and eight (10.0%) with pCNVs. WES analysis of the remaining 66 cases revealed diagnostic genetic variants in 13 (19.7%) cases, indicating that the diagnostic yield of WES for the entire cohort was 16.3% (13/80). KMT2D was the most frequently mutated gene (7/66 (10.6%)) in fetuses with LSL without aneuploidy or pCNVs, followed by NOTCH1 (4/66 (6.1%)). HLHS was the most prevalent cardiac phenotype (4/7) in cases with a KMT2D mutation in this cohort. An additional six (9.1%) cases were found to have potentially deleterious variants in candidate genes. CONCLUSIONS Single-gene defects contribute substantially to the genetic etiology of fetal LSLs. KMT2D mutations accounted for approximately 10% of LSLs in our fetal cohort. WES has the potential to provide genetic diagnoses in fetuses with LSLs without aneuploidy or pCNVs. Abstract
BACKGROUND Ocular involvement can occur at any stage of syphilis. Prompt diagnosis and proper treatment of ocular syphilis are vital to avoid long-term consequences. OBJECTIVES To describe the risk factors for ocular syphilis and clinical features of blindness caused by syphilis. METHODS We report risk factors for ocular syphilis amongst patients seen at the Shanghai Skin Disease Hospital between October 2009 and October 2017. We identify patients with ocular syphilis resulting in blindness and report the clinical characteristics, laboratory findings and treatment outcomes of these patients. RESULTS A total of 8310 new cases of syphilis were seen, of which 213 patients had ocular disease and 50 patients had blindness due to syphilis. Increasing age and higher RPR titres were associated with ocular involvement but there was no association with HIV status. Blindness in syphilis was restricted predominantly to patients with optic nerve involvement and not patients with isolated uveitis. Fifty patients (and a total of 67 eyes) met the WHO definition of blindness prior to treatment for syphilis. At the end of follow-up, vision had improved in 24 of 67 eyes (35.8%) after treatment. Successful treatment of uveitis was associated with the best improvement in visual acuity, whilst patient with underlying optic atrophy prior to treatment had the worst visual outcome. CONCLUSIONS Ocular involvement is an important manifestation of syphilis which may result in blindness. Our data demonstrate outcomes for ocular syphilis are poor if detected late; early recognition and diagnosis is therefore vital to avoid permanent visual loss.

Abstract
Background:B cell differentiation and dysfunction play a key role in the pathogenesis of Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Bone marrow (BM) is the development organ of B cells, and also the home and residence place of plasma cells and memory B cells. However, there is a lack of studies on B cells in BM with lupus.Objectives:To map the development of BM and peripheral B cells and investigate the mechanism of abnormal early B cell development in SLE.Methods:A total of 11 SLE patients and 5 age- and sex-matched controls were recruited.BM and peripheral B cell subsets were measured by flow cytometry. sorting-purified B cell subsets were subject toSingle-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and functional studies. Plasma cytokines and secreted immunoglobulins were detected by Luminex or ELISA. Disease activity of SLE patients was measured using the SLE Disease Activity Index (SLEDAI).Results:In the present study, we find out that the percentage of monocytes in MNC (p=0.070) and plasma cells(p=0.001)in CD19+ were significantly decreased in BM of SLE, compared to healthy controls. While, SLE patients had increased T%MNC(p=0.008) and B%CD19+(p=0.002) in BM that controls. In detail, the B cell subsets of bone marrow in patients with active lupus (SLEDAI≥8 score) were seriously disordered, showing the increasing T%MNC(p=0.049), propre-B%CD19+ (p=0.006)and immature B cell%CD19+ (p=0.010) than healthy donors. propre-B%CD19+ exhibited good relationship with SLEDAI. By integrating single B cell expression profiling and repertoire analysis, we map the development of B cells in BM and peripheral and pathogenic characteristics of early B cells, especially propre-B.Conclusion:These findings demonstrated that early B cells in BM, especially propre-B are abnormally differentiated with dysregulations. BM is an important organ targeted by SLE. Abstract
Cooling of beams of gold ions using electron bunches accelerated with radio-frequency systems was recently experimentally demonstrated in the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Such an approach is new and opens the possibility of using this technique at higher energies than possible with electrostatic acceleration of electron beams. The challenges of this approach include generation of electron beams suitable for cooling, delivery of electron bunches of the required quality to the cooling sections without degradation of beam angular divergence and energy spread, achieving the required small angles between electron and ion trajectories in the cooling sections, precise velocity matching between the two beams, high-current operation of the electron accelerator, as well as several physics effects related to bunched-beam cooling. Here we report on the first demonstration of cooling hadron beams using this new approach.

Abstract
The present study examined the intergenerational factors in transmitting autobiographical memories from one generation to the next. Older adults from Beijing, China reported a collection of personally important autobiographical memories and their middle-aged children recalled important parental memories. The parent-child dyads independently recalled and provided ratings of mnemonic characteristics for the memories. Across generations, consensus memories, which refer to the memories that both parents and children considered as important in the parent's life, were characterised by the substantial material change that the events brought about in their lives. While parent-child interaction affected the number of events passed onto children, it only affected the number of script-divergent events that were not recorded in the life script of a culture, but not the number of script-consistent events. In addition, children whose parents were rusticated and relocated to rural areas during the Cultural Revolution remembered more historical memories than children whose parents were not rusticated. The findings shed light on the process that one generation gains the biographical knowledge and historical experience of a prior generation. Theoretical implications are discussed.

Abstract
Graphene oxide (GO) is a good nanofiller candidate for waterborne coatings because of its outstanding physical and mechanical properties, good dispersibility in water, and low cost relative to graphene. Here, we report on the performance of a one-part, waterborne polyurethane (WPU) nanocoating formulated with four different GO loadings ([0.4% to 2.0%] by mass). The degree of GO dispersion/adhesion was evaluated using scanning electron microscopy, laser scanning confocal microscopy, and Raman microscopy. Nanocoating performance was evaluated using a dynamic mechanical thermal analyzer for mechanical properties, a customized coulometric permeation apparatus for oxygen barrier properties, a combustion microcalorimeter for flammability, a hot disk analyzer for thermal conductivity, thermogravimetric analysis for thermal stability, and a moisture sorption analyzer for water uptake. The results show that GO sheets were well dispersed in, and have good adhesion to, WPU. At the higher mass loadings ([1.2% or 2%] by mass), GO increased the modulus and yield strength of WPU by 300% and 200%, respectively, increased the thermal conductivity by 38%, reduced the burning heat release rate (flammability) by 43%, and reduced the oxygen permeability by up to sevenfold. The presence of GO, however, increased water vapor uptake at high humidity; the moisture content of 2% mass loading GO/WPU nanocoatings at 90% RH was almost twice that of the moisture content for unfilled WPU. Overall, with the exception of water uptake at very high humidity (> 70% RH), the observed improvements in physical and mechanical properties combined with the ease of processing suggest that GO is a viable nanofiller for WPU coatings.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES We explored the associations between depressive symptoms and supplemental calcium and vitamin D intake in older adults. DESIGN This was a prospective cohort study. PARTICIPANTS 8,527 older adults aged ≥60 years from Zhejiang Major Public Health Surveillance Program (ZPHS) without depressive symptoms at baseline survey. MEASUREMENTS Participants were divided into non-supplementation, calcium (Ca), vitamin D, and calcium plus vitamin D (CaD) groups based on their supplemental intake during the past year. Depressive symptoms were assessed using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). Binary logistic regression analyses were performed to examine the association between depressive symptoms and supplemental intake. RESULTS When compared to the non-supplementation group, the Ca group exhibited a significant odds ratio (OR) of 0.731 (95% CI: 0.552-0.967, P=0.028). After adjusting for age, sex, and Ca food sources, the OR was even smaller for the CaD group (OR: 0.326; 95% CI: 0.119-0.889, P=0.029). Additionally, our results indicated that taking Ca supplements ≥4 days/week yielded a significant OR of 0.690 (95% CI: 0.492-0.968) after full adjustment. Taking CaD supplements ≥4 days/week yielded a significant OR of 0.282 (95% CI: 0.089-0.898) after adjusting for age, sex, and Ca food sources. CONCLUSIONS Supplemental intake of Ca or CaD ≥4 days/week can decrease the risk of depressive symptoms in older adults, although CaD supplements may be more effective.

Abstract
Purpose: Susceptibility distortions impact diffusion MRI data analysis and is typically corrected during preprocessing. Correction strategies involve three classes of methods: registration to a structural image, the use of a fieldmap, or the use of images acquired with opposing phase encoding directions. It has been demonstrated that phase encoding based methods outperform the other two classes, but unfortunately, the choice of which phase encoding based method to use is still an open question due to the absence of any systematic comparisons. Methods: In this paper we quantitatively evaluated six popular phase encoding based methods for correcting susceptibility distortions in diffusion MRI data. We employed a framework that allows for the simulation of realistic diffusion MRI data with susceptibility distortions. We evaluated the ability for methods to correct distortions by comparing the corrected data with the ground truth. Four diffusion tensor metrics (FA, MD, eigenvalues and eigenvectors) were calculated from the corrected data and compared with the ground truth. We also validated two popular indirect metrics using both simulated data and real data. The two indirect metrics are the difference between the corrected LR and AP data, and the FA standard deviation over the corrected LR, RL, AP, and PA data. Results: We found that DR-BUDDI and TOPUP offered the most accurate and robust correction compared to the other four methods using both direct and indirect evaluation metrics. EPIC and HySCO performed well in correcting b0 images but produced poor corrections for diffusion weighted volumes, and also they produced large errors for the four diffusion tensor metrics. We also demonstrate that the indirect metric (the difference between corrected LR and AP data) gives a different ordering of correction quality than the direct metric. Conclusion: We suggest researchers to use DR-BUDDI or TOPUP for susceptibility distortion correction. The two indirect metrics (the difference between corrected LR and AP data, and the FA standard deviation) should be interpreted together as a measure of distortion correction quality. The performance ranking of the various tools inferred from direct and indirect metrics differs slightly. However, across all tools, the results of direct and indirect metrics are highly correlated indicating that the analysis of indirect metrics may provide a good proxy of the performance of a correction tool if assessment using direct metrics is not feasible.

Abstract
An 8-week growth trial was conducted to investigate the effects of replacing dietary fishmeal with a plant protein blend on the growth performance, mucosal barrier integrity and the related regulation mechanism in Amur Sturgeon (Acipenser schrenckii) with initial weight of 87.48 g. Three isonitrogenous and isoenergetic diets were prepared. A basal diet containing 540 g/kg fishmeal (P0), whereas the other two diets were formulated by replacing 50% and 100% of FM with plant protein blend (soybean protein concentrate and cottonseed protein concentrate), and named as P50 and P100, respectively. Although essential amino acids, fatty acids, and available phosphorus had been balanced according to the nutrient requirement of sturgeon, compared with the fish of P0 and P50, the full plant protein diet (P100) significantly reduced growth performance and survival, and accompanied with serious spiral valve intestinal (SVI) damage. The increased tissue necrosis and failed responses in anti-oxidation, programming apoptosis, autophagy and cell proliferation system were regulated by inhibiting ERK1 phosphorylation, which indicated that SVI hypoimmunity and functional degradation were the main reasons for the high mortality and low utilization ability of plant protein in Amur sturgeon.
