Abstract
Imbibitional chilling stress inhibits normal seed germination and seedling establishment and leads to large losses in peanut production. This is a major limiting factor when sowing peanut earlier and further north. To reveal the response mechanism of peanut to imbibitional chilling stress, a Tandem Mass Tag (TMT)-based quantitative proteomics analysis was conducted to identify differentially accumulated proteins (DAPs) under imbibitional chilling stress. Hormone profiling and transcriptional analysis were performed to confirm the proteomics data. Further seed priming analysis with exogenous cytokinins was conducted to validate the role of cytokinins in alleviating imbibitional chilling injury. A total of 5029 proteins were identified and quantified in all of the experimental groups. Among these, 104 proteins were DAPs as compared with the control. Enrichment analysis revealed that these DAPs were significant in various molecular functional and biological processes, especially for biosynthesis and metabolism of plant hormones. Hormone profiling and transcription analysis suggested that the reduced abundance of cytokinin oxidase may be caused by down-regulation of gene expression of the corresponding genes and leads to an elevated content of cytokinins under chilling stress. Seed priming analysis suggested that exogenous application of cytokinins may alleviate injury caused by imbibitional chilling. Our study provides a comprehensive proteomics analysis of peanut under imbibitional chilling stress, suggesting the role of plant hormones in the response mechanism. The results provide a better understanding of the imbibitional chilling stress response mechanism in peanut that will aid in peanut production.

Global Polarization of Ξ and Ω Hyperons in Au+Au Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2021; 126:162301. Abstract
Global polarization of Ξ and Ω hyperons has been measured for the first time in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV. The measurements of the Ξ^{-} and Ξ[over ¯]^{+} hyperon polarization have been performed by two independent methods, via analysis of the angular distribution of the daughter particles in the parity violating weak decay Ξ→Λ+π, as well as by measuring the polarization of the daughter Λ hyperon, polarized via polarization transfer from its parent. The polarization, obtained by combining the results from the two methods and averaged over Ξ^{-} and Ξ[over ¯]^{+}, is measured to be ⟨P_{Ξ}⟩=0.47±0.10(stat)±0.23(syst)% for the collision centrality 20%-80%. The ⟨P_{Ξ}⟩ is found to be slightly larger than the inclusive Λ polarization and in reasonable agreement with a multiphase transport model. The ⟨P_{Ξ}⟩ is found to follow the centrality dependence of the vorticity predicted in the model, increasing toward more peripheral collisions. The global polarization of Ω, ⟨P_{Ω}⟩=1.11±0.87(stat)±1.97(syst)% was obtained by measuring the polarization of daughter Λ in the decay Ω→Λ+K, assuming the polarization transfer factor C_{ΩΛ}=1.

Observation of Multiplicity Dependent Prompt χ_{c1}(3872) and ψ(2S) Production in pp Collisions. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2021; 126:092001. Abstract
The production of χ_{c1}(3872) and ψ(2S) hadrons is studied as a function of charged particle multiplicity in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2 fb^{-1}. For both states, the fraction that is produced promptly at the collision vertex is found to decrease as charged particle multiplicity increases. The ratio of χ_{c1}(3872) to ψ(2S) cross sections for promptly produced particles is also found to decrease with multiplicity, while no significant dependence on multiplicity is observed for the equivalent ratio of particles produced away from the collision vertex in b-hadron decays. This behavior is consistent with a calculation that models the χ_{c1}(3872) structure as a compact tetraquark. Comparisons with model calculations and implications for the binding energy of the χ_{c1}(3872) state are discussed.

Abstract
Nonmonotonic variation with collision energy (sqrt[s_{NN}]) of the moments of the net-baryon number distribution in heavy-ion collisions, related to the correlation length and the susceptibilities of the system, is suggested as a signature for the quantum chromodynamics critical point. We report the first evidence of a nonmonotonic variation in the kurtosis times variance of the net-proton number (proxy for net-baryon number) distribution as a function of sqrt[s_{NN}] with 3.1 σ significance for head-on (central) gold-on-gold (Au+Au) collisions measured solenoidal tracker at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Data in noncentral Au+Au collisions and models of heavy-ion collisions without a critical point show a monotonic variation as a function of sqrt[s_{NN}].

[PMID: 33367471 DOI: 10.1007/s12603-020-1467-4] [Citation(s) in RCA: 11] [Impact Index Per Article: 3.7] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 01/07/2023]
Abstract
OBJECTIVES The burden of multimorbidity is increasing worldwide; however, little is known about trends in multimorbidity prevalence among Chinese older adults. We aimed to estimate the prevalence and trends of multimorbidity in community-dwelling older adults in Beijing. DESIGN Longitudinal. SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS Residents of Beijing aged ≥60 years. MEASUREMENTS Data were derived from the Beijing Longitudinal Study of Aging, using cluster, stratification, and random sampling. A total of 1842, 2914, and 1837 participants were included in the 2004, 2011, and 2017 sample, respectively. Multimorbidity was defined as the presence of two or more chronic conditions. Trends in multimorbidity were examined by age, sex, and geographical area. RESULTS The prevalence of multimorbidity was 32.5%, 52.9%, and 53.2% in 2004, 2011, and 2017, respectively, following an upward trend over time (P =0.003). A similar multimorbidity increase trend was present in age-, sex-, and region-stratified analysis for the 2004-2017 period (all P<0.05). The most common chronic diseases in 2004 were hypertension (34.3%), cataract (18.2%), coronary heart disease (CHD) (15.6%), stroke (14.3%), and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (7.9%); in 2011, these were hypertension (49.6%), arthritis (30.9%), CHD (22.3%), stroke (21.9%), and diabetes (15.1%); in 2017, these were hypertension (54.4%), arthritis (26.3%), stroke (22.6%), cataract (20.5%), and CHD (20.1%). The proportion of older adults diagnosed with ≥3 chronic diseases significantly increased from 13.4% in 2004 to 73.1% in 2011 and 69.5% in 2017. CONCLUSIONS Multimorbidity is common and the overall and age-, sex-, and region-specific multimorbidity prevalence has been increasing over the past 13 years. Public health policies should account for the more complex care needs and growing costs associated with increasing prevalence of chronic disease and multimorbidity in Chinese older adults.

Dual-energy CT for differentiating early glottic squamous cell carcinoma from chronic inflammation and leucoplakia of vocal cord: comparison with simulated conventional 120 kVp CT. Clin Radiol 2020; 76:238.e17-238.e24. [PMID: 33375985 DOI: 10.1016/j.crad.2020.11.118] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 03/02/2020] [Accepted: 11/25/2020] [Indexed: 11/18/2022]
Abstract
AIM To evaluate the value of dual-energy (DE) computed tomography (CT) in discriminating early glottic squamous cell carcinoma (eGSCC) from chronic inflammation and leucoplakia of the vocal cord, and to compare the diagnostic efficiency of DECT with that of simulated conventional 120 kVp CT. MATERIALS AND METHODS Seventy patients with glottic lesions confirmed by histopathology (38 cases with eGSCC, 11 cases with chronic inflammation, 21 cases with leucoplakia) were enrolled in this prospective study. The DECT-derived parameters were measured and compared using independent sample t-test. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was performed to evaluate the diagnostic performance, and comparison of the area under the ROC curve (AUC) was made using the Z test to further select the best diagnostic parameters. RESULTS Significantly higher iodine concentration (IC), normalised IC (NIC), effective atomic number (Zeff), 40-100 keV (20 keV-interval), slope(k), and Mix-0.3 values were found in eGSCC than those in chronic inflammation, leucoplakia, and inflammation + leucoplakia (all p<0.05). Compared with attenuation measurement of simulated conventional 120 kVp CT, the NIC, 60 keV values derived from DECT showed significantly higher AUC in discriminating these glottic lesions (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS DECT is more accurate for differentiating eGSCC from chronic inflammation and leucoplakia when compared with simulated conventional 120 kVp CT.

Abstract
The only anticipated resonant contributions to B^{+}→D^{+}D^{-}K^{+} decays are charmonium states in the D^{+}D^{-} channel. A model-independent analysis, using LHCb proton-proton collision data taken at center-of-mass energies of sqrt[s]=7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}, is carried out to test this hypothesis. The description of the data assuming that resonances only manifest in decays to the D^{+}D^{-} pair is shown to be incomplete. This constitutes evidence for a new contribution to the decay, potentially one or more new charm-strange resonances in the D^{-}K^{+} channel with masses around 2.9 GeV/c^{2}.

Abstract
A search for the decay K_{S}^{0}→μ^{+}μ^{-} is performed using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.6 fb^{-1} and collected with the LHCb experiment during 2016, 2017, and 2018 at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The observed signal yield is consistent with zero, yielding an upper limit of B(K_{S}^{0}→μ^{+}μ^{-})<2.2×10^{-10} at 90% C.L.. The limit reduces to B(K_{S}^{0}→μ^{+}μ^{-})<2.1×10^{-10} at 90% C.L. once combined with the result from data taken in 2011 and 2012.

Abstract
A study of prompt charm-hadron pair production in proton-lead collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=8.16 TeV is performed using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 30 nb^{-1}, collected with the LHCb experiment. Production cross sections for different pairs of charm hadrons are measured and kinematic correlations between the two charm hadrons are investigated. This is the first measurement of associated production of two charm hadrons in proton-lead collisions. The results confirm the predicted enhancement of double parton scattering production in proton-lead collisions compared to the single parton scattering production.

Abstract
Objective: To study the effect of sorafenib and prophylactic transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) for prevention of postoperative relapse in patients with liver cancer combined with microvascular invasion (MVI) after using radical hepatectomy. Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on 137 cases that underwent radical hepatectomy at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from August 2015 to January 2018. Clinical data of liver cancer patients with MVI were diagnosed by postoperative pathology. General data of the three groups were analyzed. Kaplan-Meier was used to calculate the tumor-free survival rate. COX proportional hazards-model was used to analyze the independent risk factors for postoperative recurrence of liver cancer with MVI recurrence. Counting data was compared by x(2) test between groups, and log-rank test was used to compare the tumor-free survival rates. Results: A, B, and C groups had 49, 36, and 52 cases, respectively. General clinicopathological data of the three groups were not statistically significant. The postoperative tumor-free survival rates at 1-, 2-, and 3-years were 71.4%, 51.0%, 38.8%, 86.1%, 75.0%, 66.7%, and 82.7%, 75.0%, and 59.6% respectively in A, B, and C groups. Multivariate Cox proportional-hazards regression model showed that patients' age (HR = 0.622, P = 0.046), maximum tumor diameter (HR = 1.661, P = 0.033), prophylactic TACE (HR = 0.544, P = 0.019), and postoperative use of sorafenib (HR = 0.419, 0.222, 0.791, P = 0.007) were independent risk factors for postoperative recurrence of liver cancer with MVI. Conclusion: Sorafenib or prophylactic TACE use can significantly reduce the recurrence rate within 3 years after radical surgery in patients with liver cancer who were confirmed to have MVI by postoperative pathology.

Abstract
Background Heat shock protein B7 (HSPB7), which belongs to small heat shock protein family, has been reported to be involved in diverse biological processes and diseases. However, whether HSPB7 regulates osteogenic differentiation of human adipose derived stem cells (hASCs) remains unexplored. Methods The expression level of HSPB7 during the osteogenesis of hASCs was examined by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and Western blot analysis. Lentivirus transfection was used to knock down or overexpress HSPB7, which enabled us to investigate the effect of HSPB7 on osteogenic differentiation of hASCs. U0126 and extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) siRNA were used to identify the mechanism of the HSPB7/ERK1/2 axis in regulating osteogenic differentiation of hASCs. Moreover, ectopic bone formation in nude mice and osteoporosis mice model was used to investigate the effect of HSPB7 on osteogenesis in vivo. Results In this study, we found the expression of HSPB7 was significantly downregulated during the osteogenic differentiation of hASCs. HSPB7 knockdown remarkably promoted osteogenic differentiation of hASCs, while HSPB7 overexpression suppressed osteogenic differentiation of hASCs both in vitro and in vivo. Moreover, we discovered that the enhancing effect of HSPB7 knockdown on osteogenic differentiation was related to the activation of extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase (ERK) signaling pathway. Inhibition of ERK signaling pathway with U0126 or silencing ERK1/2 effectively blocked the stimulation of osteogenic differentiation induced by HSPB7 knockdown. Additionally, we found that HSPB7 expression was markedly increased in mouse bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (mBMSCs) from the osteoporotic mice which suggested that HSPB7 might be utilized as a potential target in the development of effective therapeutic strategies to treat osteoporosis and other bone diseases. Conclusion Taken together, these findings uncover a previously unrecognized function of HSPB7 in regulating osteogenic differentiation of hASCs, partly via the ERK signaling pathway.

Abstract
The first imidation of thioethers with free nitrene in water was realized. N-Cbz sulfilimines are formed via imidation of thioethers with free nitrene generated from α elimination of nosyloxycarbamates. In this work, water is successfully applied as solvent for free nitrene, and transition metal catalyst is not needed.

Abstract
Osteoporosis is a prevalent metabolic bone disease characterized by low bone mineral density and degenerative disorders of bone tissues. Previous studies showed the abnormal osteogenic differentiation of endogenous bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) contributes to the development of osteoporosis. However, the underlying mechanisms by which BMSCs undergo osteogenic differentiation remain largely unexplored. Recently, long non-coding RNAs have been discovered to play important roles in regulating BMSC osteogenesis. In this study, we first showed MIR22HG, which has been demonstrated to be involved in the progression of several cancer types, played an important role in regulating BMSC osteogenesis. We found the expression of MIR22HG was significantly decreased in mouse BMSCs from the osteoporotic mice and it was upregulated during the osteogenic differentiation of human BMSCs. Overexpression of MIR22HG in human BMSCs enhanced osteogenic differentiation, whereas MIR22HG knockdown inhibited osteogenic differentiation both in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, MIR22HG promoted osteogenic differentiation by downregulating phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) and therefore activating AKT signaling. Moreover, we found MIR22HG overexpression promoted osteoclastogenesis of RAW264.7 cells, which indicated that MIR22HG played a significant role in bone metabolism and could be a therapeutic target for osteoporosis and other bone-related diseases.

Abstract
An angular analysis of the B^{0}→K^{*0}(→K^{+}π^{-})μ^{+}μ^{-} decay is presented using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb^{-1} of pp collision data collected with the LHCb experiment. The full set of CP-averaged observables are determined in bins of the invariant mass squared of the dimuon system. Contamination from decays with the K^{+}π^{-} system in an S-wave configuration is taken into account. The tension seen between the previous LHCb results and the standard model predictions persists with the new data. The precise value of the significance of this tension depends on the choice of theory nuisance parameters.

Development and application of a triplex real-time PCR assay for simultaneous detection of avian influenza virus, Newcastle disease virus, and duck Tembusu virus. BMC Vet Res 2020; 16:203. Abstract
Background Pathogens including duck-origin avian influenza virus (AIV), duck-origin Newcastle disease virus (NDV) and duck Tembusu virus (DTMUV) posed great harm to ducks and caused great economic losses to the duck industry. In this study, we aim to develop a triplex real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay to detect these three viruses as early as possible in the suspicious duck flocks. Results The detection limit of the triplex real-time PCR for AIV, NDV, and DTMUV was 1 × 101 copies/μL, which was at least 10 times higher than the conventional PCR. In addition, the triplex assay was highly specific, and won’t cross-react with other duck pathogens. Besides, the intra-day relative standard deviation and inter-day relative standard deviation were lower than 4.44% for these viruses at three different concentrations. Finally, a total of 120 clinical samples were evaluated by the triplex real-time PCR, the conventional PCR and virus isolation, and the positive rates for these three methods were 20.83, 21.67, 19.17%, respectively. Taking virus isolation as the gold standard, the diagnostic specificity and positive predictive value of the three viruses were all above 85%, while the diagnostic sensitivity and negative predictive value of the three viruses were all 100%. Conclusion The developed triplex real-time PCR is fast, specific and sensitive, and is feasible and effective for the simultaneous detection of AIV, NDV, and DTMUV in ducks.

An integration analysis based on genomic, transcriptomic and QTX information reveals credible candidate genes for fat-related traits in pigs. Anim Genet 2020; 51:683-693. [PMID: 32557818 DOI: 10.1111/age.12971] [Citation(s) in RCA: 4] [Impact Index Per Article: 1.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 01/18/2020] [Revised: 05/15/2020] [Accepted: 05/23/2020] [Indexed: 12/27/2022]
Abstract
Meat quality improvement is of great interest to researchers in pig breeding and many researchers have identified abundant associated quantitative trait loci, genes and polymorphisms (QTXs) for fat-related traits. However, it is challenging to determine credible candidate genes from a mass of associations. The efficiency of identification of credible candidate genes in these QTXs is restricted by limited integration analyses of data from multiple omics. In this study, we constructed a 'candidate gene map' of fat-related traits in pigs based on published literature and the latest genome. In total, 6,861 QTXs, which covered 9,323 genes on the pig genome, were used. Combining the QTX hotspots and pathway analysis, we identified 180 candidate genes that may regulate the fat-related traits, and choose PNPLA2, PPARG, SREBF1, ACACA, PPARD and PPARA as credible candidate genes. In addition, we discussed the importance of incorporating transcriptome data and genomic data in causal gene identification, and the multi-omics information can effectively improve the credibility of identified candidate genes.

Observation of New Ξ_{c}^{0} Baryons Decaying to Λ_{c}^{+}K^{-}. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2020; 124:222001. Abstract
The Λ_{c}^{+}K^{-} mass spectrum is studied with a data sample of pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.6 fb^{-1} collected by the LHCb experiment. Three Ξ_{c}^{0} states are observed with a large significance and their masses and natural widths are measured to be m[Ξ_{c}(2923)^{0}]=2923.04±0.25±0.20±0.14 MeV, Γ[Ξ_{c}(2923)^{0}]=7.1±0.8±1.8 MeV, m[Ξ_{c}(2939)^{0}]=2938.55±0.21±0.17±0.14 MeV, Γ[Ξ_{c}(2939)^{0}]=10.2±0.8±1.1 MeV, m[Ξ_{c}(2965)^{0}]=2964.88±0.26±0.14±0.14 MeV, Γ[Ξ_{c}(2965)^{0}]=14.1±0.9±1.3 MeV, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and due to the limited knowledge of the Λ_{c}^{+} mass. The Ξ_{c}(2923)^{0} and Ξ_{c}(2939)^{0} baryons are new states. The Ξ_{c}(2965)^{0} state is in the vicinity of the known Ξ_{c}(2970)^{0} baryon; however, their masses and natural widths differ significantly.

Abstract
A search for the decays B_{s}^{0}→e^{+}e^{-} and B^{0}→e^{+}e^{-} is performed using data collected with the LHCb experiment in proton-proton collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 1, 2, and 2 fb^{-1}, respectively. No signal is observed. Assuming no contribution from B^{0}→e^{+}e^{-} decays, an upper limit on the branching fraction B(B_{s}^{0}→e^{+}e^{-})<9.4(11.2)×10^{-9} is obtained at 90(95)% confidence level. If no B_{s}^{0}→e^{+}e^{-} contribution is assumed, a limit of B(B^{0}→e^{+}e^{-})<2.5(3.0)×10^{-9} is determined at 90(95)% confidence level. These upper limits are more than one order of magnitude lower than the previous values.

Abstract
Pigs are one of the earliest domesticated animals and multiple breeds have been developed to meet the various demands of consumers. EigenGWAS is a novel strategy to identify candidate genes that underlying population genetic differences and to infer candidate regions under selection as well. In this study, EigenGWAS and Fst analyses were performed using the public re-sequencing data of three typical commercial pig breeds, Duroc, Landrace and Yorkshire. The intersection of genome-wide significant SNPs detected by EigenGWAS and top-ranked 1% SNPs of Fst results were treated as signals under selection. Using the data of all three breeds, 3062 signals under selection were detected and the nearby genomic regions within 300 kb upstream and downstream covered 6.54% of whole genome. Pairs of breeds were analysed along with the pathway analysis. The gene function enrichment results indicated that many candidate genes located in the genomic regions of the signals under selection were associated with biological processes related to growth, metabolism, reproduction, sensory perception, etc. Among the candidate genes, the FSHB, AHR, PTHLH, KDR and FST genes were reported to be associated with reproductive performance; the KIT, KITLG, MITF, MC1R and EDNRB genes were previously identified to affect coat colour; the RETREG1, TXNIP, BMP5, PPARD and RBP4 genes were reported to be associated with lipid metabolism and growth traits. The identified genetic differences across the three commercial breeds will advance understanding of the artificial selection history of pigs and the signals under selection will suggest potential uses in pig genomic breeding programmes.

Wang Q, Tang Z, Han J, Meng H. The width of keratinized mucosa around dental implants and its influencing factors. Clin Implant Dent Relat Res 2020; 22:359-365. [PMID: 32378806 DOI: 10.1111/cid.12914] [Citation(s) in RCA: 7] [Impact Index Per Article: 1.8] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 02/13/2020] [Revised: 03/15/2020] [Accepted: 04/08/2020] [Indexed: 11/28/2022]
Abstract
BACKGROUND A few evidence is available in the literature concerning the pattern of variation in the width of keratinized mucosa (KMW) around dental implants and factors that may affect the KMW. PURPOSE The purpose of this study is to investigate the KMW at the buccal aspect of dental implants and to analyze its influencing factors. MATERIALS AND METHODS The current study was a retrospective study conducted on 726 patients with 1252 dental implants. The following parameters were evaluated by reviewing the medical records of each patient, including the age, gender and smoking status of each patient, the reasons of teeth loss, the position of implants, the bone augmentation procedures, and the KMW. Binary logistic regression analysis with the generalized estimating equations was utilized to analyze the factors that may affect the KMW of dental implants. RESULTS The KMW of implants located in the maxilla was significantly higher than that of implants located in the mandible (P < .01), except for the upper and lower canines. The logistic regression analysis indicated that the risk of the implants presenting inadequate KMW (<2 mm) in the periodontitis-caused tooth loss group was 1.91 times of the non-periodontitis-caused tooth loss group. The risk of implants presenting inadequate KMW after receiving simple and complex bone augmentation procedures was 1.65 and 2.62 times of the risk of implants without bone augmentation, respectively. The longer the follow-up period, the higher the risk of implants presenting inadequate KMW will be. CONCLUSIONS The KMW at the buccal aspect of implants is related to the position of implants. Tooth loss due to periodontitis, the bone augmentation procedures, and the process of functional period would increase the risk of implants presenting an inadequate amount of keratinized mucosa.
