Abstract
It has recently been proposed that nomifensine (Nom) administration discriminates those patients with PRL-secreting pituitary tumors from those who have hyperprolactinemia due to other causes. In the present study, this test was performed on 12 presumed functional hyperprolactinemic subjects, 9 patients with surgically proved PRL-secreting pituitary adenoma (6 microadenoma and 3 macroadenoma), and 7 patients with surgically proved non-PRL-secreting hypothalamic tumors (3 craniopharyngioma, 3 suprasellar germinoma, and 1 suprasellar ependymoma). The Nom test suppressed the plasma PRL level to below 60% of the basal level in all 12 women with presumed functional hyperprolactinemia, but did not alter plasma PRL levels in the patients with PRL-secreting pituitary adenoma or hypothalamic tumor. This evidence confirms that the test is, at least in part, able to discriminate those individuals with PRL-secreting pituitary adenoma from those without, regardless of the size of the tumor. However, the test is not capable of distinguishing between hyperprolactinemia due to PRL-secreting pituitary tumors and that due to non-PRL-secreting hypothalamic tumors. A lack of response to Nom is not necessarily due to the presence of a PRL-secreting tumor, and may be related to dysfunction to the hypothalamic-pituitary system.

Abstract
to locate the ischemic area in 22 patients with angina pectoris, exercise stress body surface isopotential maps (MAPs) were assessed and compared with coronary angiography and myocardial stress scintigraphy. Taking coronary angiographic findings into consideration, 4 types of ischemic MAP responses, i.e., septum and anterior, lateral, inferior, and posterior wall ischemia were postulated. Sensitivity of stress MAP was 71% for the average and more than stress imaging. Specificity of stress MAP was 46% for the average and less than stress imaging.

Abstract
To further characterize diurnal changes in the rhythm in adrenal responsiveness to ACTH, we have measured ACTH distribution volume, MCR, and t 1/2. These do not change between morning and evening in groups of untreated, dexamethasone-pretreated, or hypophysectomized female rats. To characterize the nature of the change in adrenal responsiveness to ACTH, dexamethasone-pretreated rats were infused for 2 h with a variety of doses of ACTH in the morning and evening. The adrenal response to an infusion rate of ACTH that maximally stimulated the adrenals (200 pg/100 g BW.min) was the same in the morning and evening, showing that adrenal capacity does not change. However, infusion of ACTH at lower rates (50-100 pg/100 g BW.min) revealed that the slope of the steroid response curve increased between morning and evening, demonstrating a diurnal change in adrenal sensitivity to ACTH. These results together with previous data showing that the magnitude and time course of the adrenal cAMP response to ACTH changes diurnally strongly suggest that ACTH receptor affinity or coupling with adenylate cyclase changes diurnally. In other experiments, plasma ACTH and corticosterone levels were determined in groups of young and adult male and adult female untreated rats killed at 4-h intervals around the clock. Peak sensitivity to ACTH was found at lights-out, and trough sensitivity was found at lights-on, suggesting that the experimentally demonstrated rhythm occurs normally.

Abstract
Yersinia species were isolated from 16 of 495 small wild animals and from 1 of 38 foxes. The animals were trapped in seven regions of Hokkaido, Japan. Of the 17 strains isolated, 9 were Yersinia enterocolitica O6; 2 were Y. enterocolitica O5A; 1 was Y. enterocolitica, O4; 1 was Y. enterocolitica O9; 1 was Yersinia pseudotuberculosis IVB; and 3 were sucrose-negative strains. Yersinia pestis was not isolated. The O6 organism was most prevalent in large red-back mice (Clethrionomys rufocanus bedfordiae) and showed significant differences in its mode of distribution according to region. Incidence of the O6 organism in the ileum of the animal was threefold that in the cecum, and the organism was recovered at approximately 10(5) cells per g of cecal contents per c. rufocanus bedfordiae animal.

Abstract
An organogermanium was given to young and aged C3H/HeJ mice sensitized by sheep red blood cells, and plaque-forming cells (PFC) in the spleens from the animals were measured. PFC decreased markedly in the aged mice. The organogermanium at an appropriate dose significantly increased the PFC in the aged mice, whereas it did not increase PFC in the young mice. Thus, germanium is considered to restore to some extent the impaired immunoresponses in aged mice.
