Abstract
Abstract
Study question
Among women with niche-related postmenstrual spotting, is LNG-IUS 52mg superior to hysteroscopic niche resection?
Summary answer
At the 6th month after treatment, the median total bleeding days after LNG-IUS 52mg was 4 days, shorter than 13 days after hysteroscopic niche resection.
What is known already
The rate of caesarean sections (CS) is growing worldwide and the prevalence of niche, one of complications of CS, has increased substantially. Until now, evidence-based clinical guidelines for the treatment of niche are few. In patients with niche-related postmenstrual spotting, there are some studies confirm the effectiveness of a levonorgestrel 52 mg intrauterine system (LNG-IUS) on the niche-related symptoms, while some retrospective studies indicated conflicting results. The effect of LNG-IUS and hysteroscopic niche resection in niche-related spotting has not been studied in any RCT yet.
Study design, size, duration
This is a randomized controlled trial conducted in a university-based hospital from Dec 2019 to Jan 2021. Women who were suffering from niche-related postmenstrual spotting for more than two days and had no fertility intention in the coming 12 months were recruited. After randomisation for LNG-IUS 52mg or hysteroscopic resection, follow-up was performed at the 3rd, 6th, 9th and 12nd month. Based on our protocol, 208 women (104 in each group) were included.
Participants/materials, setting, methods
After informed consent is obtained, eligible women were randomly allocated to LNG-IUS 52mg or hysteroscopic niche resection at 1:1. The primary outcome was the efficacy in reducing postmenstrual spotting at the 6th month after randomisation. The secondary outcomes include menstrual pattern, total bleeding days per month, rate of amenorrhoea, side effects and complications. Student’s t-tests were performed to compare the effective rate in improving postmenstrual spotting between two groups.
Main results and the role of chance
208 women were randomised, finally 101 patients in the LNG-IUS group and 104 in hysteroscopic resection group were included in the intention to treat analysis. Median reduced spotting days maintained within 5 days after hysteroscopic niche resection at the 3rd, 6th, 9th and the 12nd month, while after LNG-IUS treatment it increased from 4 days at the 3rd month to 7 days at the 12nd month.
Participants reported a reduction of spotting days by at least 50% from baseline at one-year follow-up in 91 out of 101 (90.0%) in the LNG-IUS group versus 73 out of 104 (70.2%) in the hysteroscopic niche resection group (Relative Risk 1.3; 95% CI 1.1 to 1.5; p < 0.001). The effectiveness rate increased over time within 1 year after the insertion of LNG-IUS (58.4%, 78.2%, 89.1%, 90.0%, P for trend = 0.042), while no trend change was observed in hysteroscopy group (67.3%, 73.1%, 72.1%, 70.2%, P for trend = 0.625).
In the LNG-IUS group, two women removed their IUS after expulsion and three did so after bleeding symptoms. In the hysteroscopy group, two women got pregnant. No serious complications were observed in either group.
Limitations, reasons for caution
The trial was based in a single centre, which might limit the generalisability of the findings. Meanwhile, this trial was an open-label trial both for patients and for researchers, and a blind method was applied to evaluate the effect of treatment.
Wider implications of the findings
LNG-IUS 52mg is superior to hysteroscopic niche resection in reducing niche related postmenstrual spotting from the 6th month. LNG-IUS has advantages including contraceptive effect, no need for (general) anaesthesia or hospitalisation, easy to insert, fewer complications and lower cost. LNG-IUS should be recommended as the first choice for these women.

Abstract
Quantum chromodynamics, the theory of the strong force, describes interactions of coloured quarks and gluons and the formation of hadronic matter. Conventional hadronic matter consists of baryons and mesons made of three quarks and quark-antiquark pairs, respectively. Particles with an alternative quark content are known as exotic states. Here a study is reported of an exotic narrow state in the D0D0π+ mass spectrum just below the D*+D0 mass threshold produced in proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The state is consistent with the ground isoscalar [Formula: see text] tetraquark with a quark content of [Formula: see text] and spin-parity quantum numbers JP = 1+. Study of the DD mass spectra disfavours interpretation of the resonance as the isovector state. The decay structure via intermediate off-shell D*+ mesons is consistent with the observed D0π+ mass distribution. To analyse the mass of the resonance and its coupling to the D*D system, a dedicated model is developed under the assumption of an isoscalar axial-vector [Formula: see text] state decaying to the D*D channel. Using this model, resonance parameters including the pole position, scattering length, effective range and compositeness are determined to reveal important information about the nature of the [Formula: see text] state. In addition, an unexpected dependence of the production rate on track multiplicity is observed.

Abstract
The first full angular analysis and an updated measurement of the decay-rate CP asymmetry of the D^{0}→π^{+}π^{-}μ^{+}μ^{-} and D^{0}→K^{+}K^{-}μ^{+}μ^{-} decays are reported. The analysis uses proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}. The full set of CP -averaged angular observables and their CP asymmetries are measured as a function of the dimuon invariant mass. The results are consistent with expectations from the standard model and with CP symmetry.

POS1438 FRYQ QUESTIONNAIRE DISTINGUISHES INFLAMMATORY FROM NON-INFLAMMATORY DISEASE IN NEWLY REFERRED PATIENTS. Ann Rheum Dis 2022. Abstract
BackgroundInflammatory Rheumatic Diseases (IRDs) affect 5% of the general population, while 35% of the population experiences Musculoskeletal Complaints (MSCs) [1]. IRDs cause early disability, reduced life-expectancy and considerable health care costs. Early diagnosis is essential to prevent long-term damage, similarly important is the early identification of patients with MSCs without IRDs to prevent unnecessary health care expenses. Of the population referred to the rheumatologist, 60% have non-inflammatory MSCs while only 20% of patients with an IRD see a rheumatologist within three months of symptom onset [2]. The need for digital predictive (triage) tools for Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases led to the development of the Frysian Questionnaire for differentiation of MSK complaints (FRYQ).ObjectivesTo assess if FRYQ questionnaire can distinguish inflammatory rheumatic disease from non-inflammatory MSCs in newly referred patients.MethodsThe Frysian Questionnaire for differentiation of MSK complaints (FRYQ) is an 87 item questionnaire (consisting of 20 open questions and 67 closed questions), which is used in regular care in the rheumatology outpatient clinic of the Medical Center Leeuwarden to triage newly referred patients. Results of FRYQ, referral work diagnosis, resulting diagnoses and demographic data of 854 patients were collected. Elastic Net regularization was used to extract the most informative questions. The data was split: 75% to construct the elastic net and 25% to perform an independent validation. The classification performance was evaluated according to the area under the ROC-curve.ResultsThe group consisted of 287 males (33%) and 570 (66%) females. [Benefits and risks of prolonged dual antiplatelet therapy after percutaneous coronary intervention with drug-eluting stent in patients with stable coronary artery disease and diabetes]. Abstract
Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of prolonged dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT>1 year) in patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD) and diabetes who were event-free at 1 year after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with drug-eluting stent (DES) in a large and contemporary PCI registry. Methods: A total of 1 661 eligible patients were selected from the Fuwai PCI Registry, of which 1 193 received DAPT>1 year and 468 received DAPT ≤1 year. The primary endpoint was major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular event (MACCE) and Bleeding Academic Research Consortium (BARC) type 2, 3 or 5 bleeding, MACCE was defined as a composite of all-cause death, myocardial infarction or stroke. Multivariate Cox regression analysis and inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW) Cox regression analysis were performed. Results: After a median follow-up of 2.5 years, patients who received DAPT>1 year were associated with lower risks of MACCE (1.4% vs. 3.2%; hazard ratio (HR) 0.412, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.205-0.827) compared with DAPT ≤1 year, which was primarily caused by the lower all-cause mortality (0.1% vs. 2.6%; HR 0.031, 95%CI 0.004-0.236). Risks of cardiac death (0.1% vs. 1.5%; HR 0.051, 95%CI 0.006-0.416) and definite/probable ST (0.3% vs. 1.1%; HR 0.218, 95%CI 0.052-0.917) were also lower in patients received DAPT>1 year than those received DAPT ≤ 1 year. No difference was found between the two groups in terms of BARC type 2, 3, or 5 bleeding (5.3% vs. 4.1%; HR 1.088, 95%CI 0.650-1.821). Conclusions: In patients with stable CAD and diabetes who were event-free at 1 year after PCI with DES, prolonged DAPT (>1 year) provides a substantial reduction in ischemic cardiovascular events, including MACCE, all-cause mortality, cardiac mortality, and definite/probable ST, without increasing the clinically relevant bleeding risk compared with ≤ 1-year DAPT. Further well-designed, large-scale randomized trials are needed to verify the beneficial effect of prolonged DAPT in this population.

Abstract
We report cumulants of the proton multiplicity distribution from dedicated fixed-target Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=3.0 GeV, measured by the STAR experiment in the kinematic acceptance of rapidity (y) and transverse momentum (p_{T}) within -0.5<y<0 and 0.4<p_{T}<2.0 GeV/c. In the most central 0%-5% collisions, a proton cumulant ratio is measured to be C_{4}/C_{2}=-0.85±0.09 (stat)±0.82 (syst), which is 2σ below the Poisson baseline with respect to both the statistical and systematic uncertainties. The hadronic transport UrQMD model reproduces our C_{4}/C_{2} in the measured acceptance. Compared to higher energy results and the transport model calculations, the suppression in C_{4}/C_{2} is consistent with fluctuations driven by baryon number conservation and indicates an energy regime dominated by hadronic interactions. These data imply that the QCD critical region, if created in heavy-ion collisions, could only exist at energies higher than 3 GeV.

Measurements of _{Λ}^{3}H and _{Λ}^{4}H Lifetimes and Yields in Au+Au Collisions in the High Baryon Density Region. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 128:202301. [PMID: 35657899 DOI: 10.1103/physrevlett.128.202301] [Citation(s) in RCA: 11] [Impact Index Per Article: 5.5] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 10/18/2021] [Revised: 01/26/2022] [Accepted: 04/05/2022] [Indexed: 06/15/2023]
Abstract
We report precision measurements of hypernuclei _{Λ}^{3}H and _{Λ}^{4}H lifetimes obtained from Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=3.0 GeV and 7.2 GeV collected by the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider, and the first measurement of _{Λ}^{3}H and _{Λ}^{4}H midrapidity yields in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=3.0 GeV. _{Λ}^{3}H and _{Λ}^{4}H, being the two simplest bound states composed of hyperons and nucleons, are cornerstones in the field of hypernuclear physics. Their lifetimes are measured to be 221±15(stat)±19(syst) ps for _{Λ}^{3}H and 218±6(stat)±13(syst) ps for _{Λ}^{4}H. The p_{T}-integrated yields of _{Λ}^{3}H and _{Λ}^{4}H are presented in different centrality and rapidity intervals. It is observed that the shape of the rapidity distribution of _{Λ}^{4}H is different for 0%-10% and 10%-50% centrality collisions. Thermal model calculations, using the canonical ensemble for strangeness, describes the _{Λ}^{3}H yield well, while underestimating the _{Λ}^{4}H yield. Transport models, combining baryonic mean-field and coalescence (jam) or utilizing dynamical cluster formation via baryonic interactions (phqmd) for light nuclei and hypernuclei production, approximately describe the measured _{Λ}^{3}H and _{Λ}^{4}H yields. Our measurements provide means to precisely assess our understanding of the fundamental baryonic interactions with strange quarks, which can impact our understanding of more complicated systems involving hyperons, such as the interior of neutron stars or exotic hypernuclei.

Abstract
Tests of lepton universality in B^{0}→K_{S}^{0}ℓ^{+}ℓ^{-} and B^{+}→K^{*+}ℓ^{+}ℓ^{-} decays where ℓ is either an electron or a muon are presented. The differential branching fractions of B^{0}→K_{S}^{0}e^{+}e^{-} and B^{+}→K^{*+}e^{+}e^{-} decays are measured in intervals of the dilepton invariant mass squared. The measurements are performed using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1} . The results are consistent with the standard model and previous tests of lepton universality in related decay modes. The first observation of B^{0}→K_{S}^{0}e^{+}e^{-} and B^{+}→K^{*+}e^{+}e^{-} decays is reported.

Observation of the Decay Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ}. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 128:191803. [PMID: 35622037 DOI: 10.1103/physrevlett.128.191803] [Citation(s) in RCA: 1] [Impact Index Per Article: 0.5] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 01/11/2022] [Accepted: 03/29/2022] [Indexed: 06/15/2023]
Abstract
The first observation of the semileptonic b-baryon decay Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ}, with a significance of 6.1σ, is reported using a data sample corresponding to 3 fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity, collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV at the LHC. The τ^{-} lepton is reconstructed in the hadronic decay to three charged pions. The ratio K=B(Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ})/B(Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}π^{-}π^{+}π^{-}) is measured to be 2.46±0.27±0.40, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The branching fraction B(Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ})=(1.50±0.16±0.25±0.23)% is obtained, where the third uncertainty is from the external branching fraction of the normalization channel Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}π^{-}π^{+}π^{-}. The ratio of semileptonic branching fractions R(Λ_{c}^{+})≡B(Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ})/B(Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}) is derived to be 0.242±0.026±0.040±0.059, where the external branching fraction uncertainty from the channel Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ} contributes to the last term. This result is in agreement with the standard model prediction.

Adherence to antihypertensive medication and cardiovascular disease events in hypertensive patients: a dose-response meta-analysis of 2 769 700 participants in cohort study. QJM 2022; 115:279-286. Abstract
BACKGROUND Recently, many studies have investigated the association between adherence to antihypertensive medication (AHM) and risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) events for hypertensive patients; however, the results varied by different studies. AIMS The purpose of our meta-analysis was to explore the comprehensively summarized association between AHM adherence and risk of CVD events in hypertensive patients from cohort studies. DESIGN A dose-response meta-analysis. METHODS AND RESULTS We conducted a systematic search in two databases (PubMed and Embase) from 1974 to 15 December 2019 to identify English-language reports that assessed the association of AHM adherence with risk of CVD events in cohort studies. Pooled relative risks (RRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were estimated by using a fixed- or random-effects model. Restricted cubic splines were used to evaluate the possible linear or non-linear association. RESULTS We included 16 cohort studies with 2 769 700 participants in the present meta-analysis. The pooled RR of CVD events was 0.66 (95% CI, 0.56-0.78, I2 = 98.6%) for the highest versus lowest AHM adherence categories. We found a linear dose-response association of AHM adherence and CVD events (Pnonlinearity = 0.887), each 20% increase in AHM adherence was associated with a 13% reduced risk of CVD events (RR 0.87, 95% CI 0.83-0.92, I2 = 98.2%) in hypertensive patients. CONCLUSION High AHM adherence has a protective effect on CVD events for hypertensive patients, and improving medication adherence may provide long-term CVD benefits.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effect of permeable resin on the surface structure, microhardness and color of tooth enamel after bleaching. Methods: Premolars extracted for orthodontic needs were selected (provided by the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery of the first affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University) and randomly divided into A, B and C 3 groups. Each group was randomly divided into control subgroup, resin subgroup, bleaching subgroup and combined subgroup. Samples in the control subgroup did not receive any treatment. Those in the bleaching subgroup and combined subgroup were treated with cold light whitening. Those in the resin group and combined group were treated with permeable resin. Samples in the group A were observed by scanning electron microscope immediately after treatment and 2 weeks after treatment, and the microhardness of samples in the group B was measured before treatment, immediately after treatment and 2 weeks after treatment (the sample size of each time point was 8 in each subgroup). In group C, chromaticity was measured and chromatic aberration (ΔE value) was calculated before treatment, immediately after treatment and 1 and 2 weeks after treatment (10 samples in each subgroup). Results: Scanning electron microscope showed that the enamel surface of the resin subgroup and the combined group was smooth immediately after treatment, which was basically the same as that of the control subgroup, but covered with resin, and microporous defects and mineral deposits could be seen on the surface of the bleaching subgroup. Two weeks after treatment, the enamel surface of each subgroup was smooth, there was no obvious difference. Immediately after treatment, the microhardness of the control subgroup, resin subgroup, bleaching subgroup and combined subgroup were (354±33), (364±21), (411±30) and (350±17) HV, respectively (F=9.39,P<0.05). The microhardness of the bleaching subgroup was significantly higher than that of the other subgroups (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in microhardness among the four subgroups before treatment and 2 weeks after treatment (F=0.34, 2.75, P>0.05). Immediately after treatment, the ΔE values of the control subgroup, resin subgroup, bleaching subgroup and combined subgroup were 0.00±0.00, 2.29±1.86, 7.20±1.94 and 8.00±0.88, respectively (F=74.21,P<0.05); except that there was no significant difference between bleaching subgroup and combined subgroup (P>0.05), there were significant differences among the other subgroups (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in ΔE value among control subgroup, resin subgroup and bleaching subgroup at each time point (F=1.66, 0.30, 0.96, P>0.05). The difference in the combined subgroup immediately after treatment was significantly higher than that at 1 and 2 weeks after treatment (t=4.73, 4.23,P<0.05), but there was no significant difference between 1 and 2 weeks after treatment (t=0.75, P>0.05), and the color tended to be stable. Conclusions: When whitening healthy enamel, simple cold light whitening or cold light whitening combined with permeation resin can achieve whitening effect.

Abstract
Marine debris, directly and indirectly, threatens marine habitat and biota. Fishing activity is generally recognised as a contributor to marine debris, but the relative input from recreational fishing remains unassessed. Here we provide the first comprehensive literature review of recreational fishing marine debris (RFMD) on a global scale. A systematic literature review identified 70 studies related to RFMD, and plastic and metal respectively were the dominant debris materials found. Nearshore coastal areas and reefs, acted as both sources and sinks of RFMD and a diverse suite of potential impacts such as ghost fishing and entanglement were identified at local scales. Overall, research of RFMD is lacking globally, however, its role in marine debris input is likely underestimated. We recommend more research on the volumes and risks, using a standardised classification approach. Where intervention is required, we suggest cooperative approaches between the sector and authorities.

Observation of Two New Excited Ξ_{b}^{0} States Decaying to Λ_{b}^{0}K^{-}π^{+}. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 128:162001. [PMID: 35522517 DOI: 10.1103/physrevlett.128.162001] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 10/13/2021] [Revised: 02/09/2022] [Accepted: 03/23/2022] [Indexed: 06/14/2023]
Abstract
Two narrow resonant states are observed in the Λ_{b}^{0}K^{-}π^{+} mass spectrum using a data sample of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, collected by the LHCb experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb^{-1}. The minimal quark content of the Λ_{b}^{0}K^{-}π^{+} system indicates that these are excited Ξ_{b}^{0} baryons. The masses of the Ξ_{b}(6327)^{0} and Ξ_{b}(6333)^{0} states are m[Ξ_{b}(6327)^{0}]=6327.28_{-0.21}^{+0.23}±0.12±0.24 and m[Ξ_{b}(6333)^{0}]=6332.69_{-0.18}^{+0.17}±0.03±0.22 MeV, respectively, with a mass splitting of Δm=5.41_{-0.27}^{+0.26}±0.12 MeV, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and due to the Λ_{b}^{0} mass measurement. The measured natural widths of these states are consistent with zero, with upper limits of Γ[Ξ_{b}(6327)^{0}]<2.20(2.56) and Γ[Ξ_{b}(6333)^{0}]<1.60(1.92) MeV at a 90% (95%) credibility level. The significance of the two-peak hypothesis is larger than nine (five) Gaussian standard deviations compared to the no-peak (one-peak) hypothesis. The masses, widths, and resonant structure of the new states are in good agreement with the expectations for a doublet of 1D Ξ_{b}^{0} resonances.

[The value of relaxation time quantitative technique from synthetic magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis and invasion assessment of prostate cancer]. ZHONGHUA YI XUE ZA ZHI 2022; 102:1093-1099. [PMID: 35436808 DOI: 10.3760/cma.j.cn112137-20211018-02304] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [MESH Headings] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 06/14/2023]
Abstract
Objective: To investigate the application value of relaxation time quantitative technique from synthetic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the diagnosis and invasion assessment of prostate cancer. Methods: A total of 119 patients with prostate diseases [122 regions of interest(ROI)] who underwent routine MRI scan and magnetic resonance image compilation (MAGiC) sequence of prostate from March 2020 to March 2021 in General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University were retrospectively collected, they were divided into prostate cancer group(58 cases, 61 ROI) and non-prostate cancer group(61 cases, 61 ROI) according to the pathological results. In the prostate cancer group, those patients with an age of 48 to 85(69.8±5.9) years, and further divided into two subgroups according to the location of occurrence: peripheral zone cancer group (43 cases, 45 ROI) and transitional zone cancer group (15 cases, 16 ROI). The non-prostate cancer group consisted of patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia or complicated with chronic prostatitis, with an age of 41 to 81(68.6±7.0) years, and they were further divided into two subgroups according to the location of occurrence: non-cancerous peripheral zone group (45 cases, 45 ROI) and transitional zone benign prostatic hyperplasia group(16 cases, 16 ROI). Prostate cancer lesions were classified as low risk (Gleason score ≤6) or intermediate/high risk (Gleason score ≥7). After the post-processing of MAGiC images, T1, T2 and proton density(PD) values of prostate cancer group and non-prostate cancer group were obtained. At the same time, relevant software were used for image post-processing to generate apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) value, the data between the two groups were analyzed by the Independent sample t-test or Mann-Whitney U-test, and the diagnostic effectiveness of each quantitative parameter in diagnosing prostate cancer and discriminating low risk prostate cancer from intermediate/high risk prostate cancer was analyzed by using receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis, the correlation between each quantitative parameter and Gleason score were assessed by Spearman correlation analysis. Results: The T1 value and T2 value of the peripheral zone cancer group were lower than those in non-cancerous peripheral zone group [1 201.3 (1 103.5, 1 298.2) ms vs 2 274.0 (1 620.9, 2 776.5) ms; 78.0 (74.0, 83.8) ms vs (160.6±54.9) ms] (all P<0.001), there was no statistically significant in PD value between the two groups (P>0.05). The T1 value and T2 value of the transitional zone cancer group were lower than those in transitional zone benign prostatic hyperplasia group [1 073.3 (1 003.9, 1 164.9) ms vs 1 340.8 (1 208.5, 1 502.8) ms; 76.9 (74.8, 82.8) ms vs 95.1(82.8, 103.4) ms] (all P<0.001), there was no statistically significant in PD value between the two groups (P>0.05). The area under the curve (AUC) of T2 value was similar with the ADC value in discriminating peripheral zone cancer group from non-cancerous peripheral zone group(0.963 vs 0.991, P=0.105), while in discriminating transitional zone cancer group from transitional zone benign prostatic hyperplasia group, the AUC of T2 value、T1 value and ADC value were similar(0.867, 0.930 vs 0.938, all P>0.05). ADC value, T2 value all were negatively correlated with Gleason score (r=-0.747,-0.453, all P<0.001). T2 value and ADC value demonstrated equivalent diagnostic performance in discriminating low risk from intermediate/high risk prostate cancer, and there were no statistically significant (AUC: 0.787 vs 0.943, P=0.069). Conclusions: Quantitative relaxation time T1 and T2 values derived from synthetic MRI can discriminate prostate cancer from other benign pathologies, and T2 value have the equivalent diagnostic performance compared to ADC value. Synthetic MRI has high clinical application value, and T2 value can distinguish low risk prostate cancer from intermediate/high risk prostate cancer.

Establishment and evaluation of a quadruple quantitative real-time PCR assay for simultaneous detection of human coronavirus subtypes. Virol J 2022; 19:67. [PMID: 35410305 PMCID: PMC8995687 DOI: 10.1186/s12985-022-01793-3] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Download PDF] [Figures] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 01/11/2022] [Accepted: 03/22/2022] [Indexed: 01/08/2023] Open
Abstract
Background The newly discovered severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and four seasonal human coronaviruses (HCoVs) (HCoV-229E, HCoV-OC43, HCoV-NL63 and HCoV-HKU1) still circulate worldwide. The early clinical symptoms of SARS-CoV-2 and seasonal HCoV infections are similar, so rapid and accurate identification of the subtypes of HCoVs is crucial for early diagnosis, early treatment, prevention and control of these infections. However, current multiplex molecular diagnostic techniques for HCoV subtypes including SARS-CoV-2 are limited. Methods We designed primers and probes specific for the S and N genes of SARS-CoV-2, the N gene of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV), and the ORF1ab gene of four seasonal HCoVs, as well as the human B2M gene product. We developed and optimized a quadruple quantitative real-time PCR assay (qq-PCR) for simultaneous detection of SARS-CoV-2, SARS-CoV and four seasonal HCoVs. This assay was further tested for specificity and sensitivity, and validated using 184 clinical samples. Results The limit of detection of the qq-PCR assay was in the range 2.5 × 101 to 6.5 × 101 copies/μL for each gene and no cross-reactivity with other common respiratory viruses was observed. The intra-assay and inter-assay coefficients of variation were 0.5–2%. The qq-PCR assay had a 91.9% sensitivity and 100.0% specificity for SARS-CoV-2 and a 95.7% sensitivity and 100% specificity for seasonal HCoVs, using the approved commercial kits as the reference. Compared to the commercial kits, total detection consistency was 98.4% (181/184) for SARS-CoV-2 and 98.6% (142/144) for seasonal HCoVs. Conclusion With the advantages of sensitivity, specificity, rapid detection, cost-effectiveness, and convenience, this qq-PCR assay has potential for clinical use for rapid discrimination between SARS-CoV-2, SARS-CoV and seasonal HCoVs. Measurement of the Nuclear Modification Factor and Prompt Charged Particle Production in p-Pb and pp Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5 TeV. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 128:142004. Abstract
The production of prompt charged particles in proton-lead collisions and in proton-proton collisions at the nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy sqrt[s_{NN}]=5 TeV is studied at LHCb as a function of pseudorapidity (η) and transverse momentum (p_{T}) with respect to the proton beam direction. The nuclear modification factor for charged particles is determined as a function of η between -4.8<η<-2.5 (backward region) and 2.0<η<4.8 (forward region), and p_{T} between 0.2<p_{T}<8.0 GeV/c. The results show a suppression of charged particle production in proton-lead collisions relative to proton-proton collisions in the forward region and an enhancement in the backward region for p_{T} larger than 1.5 GeV/c. This measurement constrains nuclear PDFs and saturation models at previously unexplored values of the parton momentum fraction down to 10^{-6}.

Abstract
Understanding gluon density distributions and how they are modified in nuclei are among the most important goals in nuclear physics. In recent years, diffractive vector meson production measured in ultraperipheral collisions (UPCs) at heavy-ion colliders has provided a new tool for probing the gluon density. In this Letter, we report the first measurement of J/ψ photoproduction off the deuteron in UPCs at the center-of-mass energy sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV in d+Au collisions. The differential cross section as a function of momentum transfer -t is measured. In addition, data with a neutron tagged in the deuteron-going zero-degree calorimeter is investigated for the first time, which is found to be consistent with the expectation of incoherent diffractive scattering at low momentum transfer. Theoretical predictions based on the color glass condensate saturation model and the leading twist approximation nuclear shadowing model are compared with the data quantitatively. A better agreement with the saturation model has been observed. With the current measurement, the results are found to be directly sensitive to the gluon density distribution of the deuteron and the deuteron breakup process, which provides insights into the nuclear gluonic structure.

Abstract
The chiral magnetic effect (CME) refers to charge separation along a strong magnetic field due to imbalanced chirality of quarks in local parity and charge-parity violating domains in quantum chromodynamics. The experimental measurement of the charge separation is made difficult by the presence of a major background from elliptic azimuthal anisotropy. This background and the CME signal have different sensitivities to the spectator and participant planes, and could thus be determined by measurements with respect to these planes. We report such measurements in Au+Au collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 200 GeV at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider. It is found that the charge separation, with the flow background removed, is consistent with zero in peripheral (large impact parameter) collisions. Some indication of finite CME signals is seen in midcentral (intermediate impact parameter) collisions. Significant residual background effects may, however, still be present.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of intra-articular injection of adalimumab (ADA) in the treatment of refractory oligoarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Methods: This was a retrospective study. Clinical data on age, gender, and symptoms of joint swelling and pain were collected from 11 children with refractory oligoarticular JIA involving only knee joints admitted to Department of Rheumatism and Immunology of Children's Hospital, Capital Institute of Pediatrics from November 2019 to October 2020. The physician and parent-child evaluation of disease activity, the number of active joints, and the level of erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) at different treatment time points were analyzed at every 4-week observation point after drug administration, and the non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis test was used to compare the differences in clinical evaluation indicators and changes in laboratory tests at different treatment times. The follow-up period was 6 months. Results: Among the 11 children, 5 were boys and 6 were girls. The age was 3.0 (2.8) years. All 11 children had symptoms of joint swelling and pain as well as limitation of movement. After 3 intra-articular injections of ADA, the joint symptoms of 11 children were better than before treatment; the joint symptoms of 7 children disappeared completely, and no recurrence occurred during the 6-month follow-up period. At different treatment times, physician and parent-child evaluation of disease activity, a gradual decrease in the number of active joints in the children, ESR, and juvenile arthritis disease activity score with 27 joints were all statistically significant (χ2=53.99, 59.37, 32.87, 40.07, 54.00, all P<0.001).No significant adverse drug reactions were observed in any of the 11 children during treatment and follow-up. Conclusion: Intra-articular injection of ADA in the treatment of refractory oligoarticular JIA has a significant effect in controlling joint symptoms and is relatively safe.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the probiotic characteristics of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum HOM3204 isolated from homemade pickled cabbage and to examine its restoration effect on antibiotic-induced dysbiosis in mice. Lact. plantarum HOM3204 tolerated simulated gastric and intestinal juices with a 99.38% survival rate. It also showed strong adhesion ability (3.45%) to Caco-2 cells and excellent antimicrobial activity against foodborne pathogens in vitro. For safety (antibiotic susceptibility) of this strain, it was susceptible to all the tested seven antibiotics. Lact. plantarum HOM3204 had good stability during storage, especially in cold and frozen conditions. Furthermore, Lact. plantarum HOM3204 significantly restored the gut microbiota composition by increasing the abundance of Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria and decreasing Enterococci, and improved antioxidative function by raising the concentrations of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) in serum of antibiotic-induced dysbiosis in mice. These results suggest that Lact. plantarum HOM3204 could be a potential probiotic as a functional food ingredient.

Abstract
Iron (Fe) is an essential element for plant growth and development. Fe deficiency can trigger leaf chlorosis and reduce fruit yield. Therefore, it is necessary to explore transcription factors in response to Fe deficiency stress. A total of 29 MhR2R3-MYB transcription factors were identified based on the transcriptome of Malus halliana under Fe deficiency stress. A comprehensive analysis of physical and chemical properties, gene structures, conserved motif composition, evolutionary relationship and chromosome distribution was performed. Subsequently, based on the transcriptome, 14 genes with the most significant expression under Fe deficiency stress were screened for qRT-PCR verification. Among them, the functional characteristics of MhR2R3-MYB4 (MD05G1089600) were further studied in Arabidopsis thaliana. Expression of 13 out of these 14 genes was upregulated, only one was downregulated. Maximum upregulation of MhR2R3-MYB4 under Fe deficiency was 36.39-fold and 58.21-fold compared with day 0 in leaves and roots, respectively. Overexpression of MhR2R3-MYB4 enhanced tolerance to Fe deficiency in A. thaliana and led to multiple biochemical changes: transgenic lines have higher chl a, chl b and Fe2+ content, higher enzyme activity (SOD, POD, CAT and FCR) and lower chlorosis than the wild type in Fe deficiency conditions. We suggest that MhR2R3-MYB4 plays an important part in Fe deficiency stress, which may contribute to improve Fe deficiency tolerance of apple in future.
